9th house through the signs
ARIES: You have a natural curiosity and prefer to learn through hands-on experiences rather than traditional academic settings. However, you are always open to educational opportunities that challenge and engage you. Your adventurous spirit drives you to seek out unique and exciting experiences, especially in new and foreign cultures. Traveling is a passion of yours, and you eagerly embrace new opportunities to explore. You hold your philosophical and religious beliefs with conviction, but you are open to hearing different perspectives and engaging in discussions with those who have opposing views. You value diverse perspectives and are always seeking to expand your understanding of the world. Your positive outlook and determination make you believe that you can achieve anything you set your mind to. You are independent and self-sufficient, which has given you a strong sense of direction and the drive to pursue your goals. You approach challenges with a warrior mentality, ready to overcome any obstacle in your path.
TAURUS: You have a practical and down-to-earth approach to life's challenges, which helps you to be successful in your endeavors. You often travel with a clear purpose in mind, and your practicality shines through in your approach. Your dedication to your studies has resulted in academic success, and you have developed patience and persistence from your experiences in the world. Even though you may take a bit longer to reach your goals, you are committed to your own pace and find satisfaction in the progress you make. You have a steadfastness that helps you push through any obstacles that come your way. Although it may take some time to figure out your exact path, you know that you will eventually find a practical solution that works for you. While you may be hesitant to try new things, once you get out of your comfort zone, you know how to have a good time in a straightforward manner. You are the friend that can be relied on to approach situations with a level head and practical solutions.
GEMINI: After gaining your independence, you found yourself seeking out new and exciting experiences. During your college or post-secondary years, you were incredibly active and involved in countless activities, always eager to broaden your horizons. Your diverse range of experiences has given you a unique approach to life, which others find fascinating. While some may criticize your tendency to explore every opportunity, you firmly believe that life should be kept interesting. You are constantly shifting directions, always looking for the next exciting adventure. Your motto is to always keep moving forward and try something new. The more you explore, the more motivated you become, keeping you alert and active. However, you can lose interest quickly, so your travel companions have learned to jump on new ideas and implement them immediately. You prefer to be on the move, always seeking out new places and cultures to experience. Air travel is your preferred mode of transportation, but you also appreciate the scenic route that rail travel can offer.
CANCER: You have a great appreciation for the idea of taking a nostalgic trip, but you're worried about being away from your loved ones and home. It might be helpful to bring photos of home with you on your travels. If possible, you would love to complete your education from the comfort of your own home. After graduating from high school, you felt like you had found your place in the world, and you hope to continue feeling that way throughout your college experience. Being away from the hustle and bustle of the world gave you the confidence to express your true thoughts and feelings. You possess an incredibly intuitive and emotional sense of direction. Your inner compass guides you towards what feels right, even if others might not understand it. Trusting your inner voice has served you well, and you've learned to rely on your intuition when making decisions. Feeling lost can be draining, but your natural compass allows you to assess any situation and figure out where you need to go. It's important to you to not always have to be logical and practical. You enjoy a night out, but you can feel a little needy at times. If you're not doing something exciting, you can start to feel down. However, you love making others happy by taking them on trips and creating memories together.
LEO: This aspect brings many benefits for long journeys and connecting with people from different cultures and nations, whether it be through commerce or other arrangements. You have a natural curiosity and desire to understand and bond with people from all walks of life, which is a valuable skill. You hold your principles and values firmly, and you never compromise on them. Attending church services is something that you find acceptable and important to both yourself and your family. Learning and traveling are two of your favorite things. You feel happiest when you're discovering new places and ideas. Traveling allows you to broaden your horizons and gain a new perspective on the world. On the other hand, researching and debating philosophical viewpoints also excites you and provides mental stimulation. As you progressed through your education, you discovered more about who you are as a person. You became more confident and self-assured in your identity, which is a great feeling.
VIRGO: You're a natural organizer, and you prefer to travel with a well-packed bag and a carefully planned schedule. While you may be self-critical, your drive for perfection will serve you well in pursuing higher education. Your love for traveling is strong, and you should always take advantage of any opportunity to do so. Exploring new places, whether for business or pleasure, is a fantastic way to broaden your horizons and connect with people who could have a significant impact on your future. Because you have a keen interest in intellectual pursuits, you'll find great satisfaction in exploring metaphysical or theological beliefs through reading and discussion with friends and colleagues. You're open-minded and enjoy a variety of perspectives, making it easy for you to shift from one idea to the next. While others may have more simple and straightforward religious ideas with less emphasis on ritual and ceremony, you have a sensible approach and enjoy learning about different cultures and beliefs. Your college and global experiences have taught you the value of paying attention to the small things. You've become more sensible and clear-minded after high school, and you now have a wealth of knowledge about various subjects. Keep exploring and expanding your horizons, and you'll continue to learn and grow in ways you never thought possible.
LIBRA: When it comes to long-distance trips or going abroad, your options might be a bit limited. But here's the thing, you're gonna want a caring companion to join you on those adventures, and most of the time, it'll be your spouse who gets to decide if you're hitting the road or not. But hey, maybe deep down, you're not that crazy about traveling the whole world anyway. It's not like you wouldn't do it if the circumstances were right, though. You've got this philosophical outlook on life, and you're pretty adaptable to whatever changes come your way without losing your cool. Now, when it comes to your beliefs, you tend to stick with the religion you were raised in, but hey, change is always possible, especially if you end up marrying someone from a different background. You're all about fairness and equality, man, and you want everyone to be treated right. Learning is your jam, and you always strive to be your best self. You've got mad respect for people from different faiths and cultures, and it's like they're just naturally drawn to you, or maybe it's the other way around. In a partner, you're attracted to someone who's got a sense of adventure, man. You don't want them to be possessive or suffocate you. You dig a certain level of independence in a relationship.
SCORPIO: You're the type of person who loves exploring new and exciting places. Like, you're always down for an adventure. And you're super into higher education and doing research. You're also pretty deep and contemplative, especially in high school. You've probably been through some crazy stuff that's made you more aware of danger and threat. And yeah, some people might think you're a bit paranoid or controlling, but you just have this feeling that something big is gonna happen. But here's the thing, you have this incredible power to understand things that other people can't. It's like you have this inner compass that always points you in the right direction. And even though it can be scary, it's also kind of awesome. You're not really into superficial stuff, so if you're gonna go on an adventure, it's gotta be something meaningful. And hey, you might even find yourself traveling for a specific purpose or mission.
SAGITTARIUS: Long-distance travel and exploring new places often lead to significant events or experiences for you. Building connections, whether in business or personally, especially with influential individuals, can bring you advantages. This might involve living abroad, working as a representative for a company or even the government in another country. You have a high tolerance for different viewpoints and a strong curiosity to learn about other people and cultures that are similar to your own. If you're actively involved in church activities, you might feel drawn to travel in a leadership role or engage in missionary work. You have a thirst for expanding your perspective on life and discovering what the world has to offer. You're a positive person who strives to live up to high standards. The freedom you always yearned for brought you great joy when you finally attained it. Your college or worldly experiences were liberating, enlightening, and perhaps a little wild. Now, your sense of direction relies on the feeling of being limitless and capable of achieving anything.
CAPRICORN: You have a desire to pursue higher education and obtain a degree. When it comes to global events, you approach them responsibly. Your travel plans are well-organized, and you're adept at traveling for work purposes. Long-distance trips are often related to conducting business or fulfilling obligations on behalf of a company, particularly when there's publicity or prestige involved. Personal travels, such as vacations, might experience delays or scheduling conflicts. It's important to take the necessary steps to ensure personal comfort before embarking on any journey. You have various options for transportation, including air, sea, train, and road, but traveling by land tends to be the most beneficial for you. Religion may not hold significant importance for you, and you might have a skeptical outlook on ideas that seem far-fetched. You prefer to rely on facts and data before believing something. Traveling may not be your favorite thing, and you typically only do it when it's necessary for work or fulfilling responsibilities. After graduating from high school, you became more aware of life's pressures and realized that you can't be as carefree or irresponsible as your friends, whether in college or in general.
AQUARIUS: You're all about embracing the strangest aspects of the world. Your journey in life is gonna be filled with unexpected twists and turns. When it comes to higher education, you might find yourself drawn to some quirky, technical, or scientific fields. And get this, your adventures to foreign lands might happen in the most unique and unexpected ways. How and where you plan and embark on a long journey could be influenced by your own ambitions and desires. You're likely to make long-lasting friendships with people from other countries, especially those who are fascinated by different cultures. Air travel is definitely your thing, while long ocean voyages won't be much of an issue. Now, let's talk about your philosophical beliefs—they're far from ordinary. You're not the type to stick to any specific religious allegiance, and under extreme circumstances, you might even be drawn to the radical fringe. Your beliefs are unusual, and you're open to a wide range of viewpoints. You're a progressive soul who enjoys surrounding yourself with people who challenge your opinions. So, how about going on some adventures and shaking things up in your life? Sounds like your kind of thing!
PISCES: In your dreams, you venture into the world, but you might struggle with the practical aspects of traveling and studying. However, you have the opportunity to pursue studying or traveling for creative purposes. This house represents long journeys and visits to foreign lands. If you're planning to travel, it's best to consider water transportation as there's a preference for the open seas. Make sure to plan your travel itinerary thoroughly, as there may be unforeseen restrictions or unexpected factors that need to be addressed. Your religious beliefs hold great importance to you, and you may be willing to make sacrifices in accordance with them. You're drawn to the mystical aspects of religion and may engage in rituals or ceremonies. Your psychic senses are highly sensitive, often leading to profound religious experiences or conversions. Your convictions shape your daily life and you may have a deep spiritual or religious inclination, finding solace and resolution in your faith. You may not be a frequent traveler and prefer to stay close to water. After high school, you became more adaptable and learned to go with the flow. College and other experiences helped you develop a sense of flexibility and adaptability. However, it also left you with a sense of direction that can sometimes be easily confused.

Tumblr media
The wind flowed through your hair, creating a sense of freedom and adventure, as Cole sped up his car to merge onto the Michigan highway. You had been looking forward to this road trip with Cole for weeks, and the excitement in the air radiated between Cole and you.
“Slow down there, speed racer,” you teased as Cole playfully swayed to the music. His laughter was infectious, and his smile shone brighter than the sun. You couldn’t help but to join in. It was moments like these that made your friendship special, the joy of sharing simple pleasures and the bond you shared with each passing smile.
As the miles rolled on, you took turn selecting songs, mostly consisting of Taylor Swift and cheesy pop songs from your childhood. Cole would frequently check on you, taking his eyes off the road for a moment until you noticed his looks.
After a few hours on the road, you pointed out a scenic overlook to stop at to take a break and stretch your legs.
Cole parked the car, and you both stepped out, the warm sun kissing your tan skin. As you stood at the guardrail, Cole walked up beside you, his arm lightly brushing against yours. You felt a slight tingle in your stomach, suddenly becoming aware of any small movements you made.
While you started noticing these feelings when you visited Cole in Montreal when he played your twin brother, Jack. Since Cole played with Jack for the USNTDP, the two of you had become friends. A lot of his friends were seemingly too similar to Jack, while Cole brought a new sense of excitement for teenage you. Until this year, you had never felt nervous around Cole.
Cole shifted and walked back to the car. He was going to grab the sandwiches you packed for the two of you to share.
“Thank you so much for the sandwich, kind sir,” you joked as the two of you sat on one of the benches. The outlook was fairly stranded, so it was the best spot to view the beautiful outlook.
“Anything for m’lady,” Cole responded, making a small blush rise onto your face as you both shared a laugh.
As you enjoyed your meal, the conversation flowed effortlessly. You talked about everything from all the clients at your job to Cole’s recent failure on the golf course. The more you talked, the more you and Cole grew comfortable together after being apart for several months.
At one point, he leaned in slightly closer, his voice soft, “You know, I’ve been really looking forward to this trip.”
You nodded your head smiling.
“But it isn’t so much about the places I’ll be seeing or that I’ll get to be on the lake once we’re done, it’s about the person I’m riding with,” he admitted.
Your heart skipped a beat, and you felt a rush of warmth. “I feel the same way,” you replied sincerely, your eyes meeting his.
For a moment, time stood still as you gazed at each other, many unspoken words hanging in the air. It was a moment of realization for both you and Cole, marking a subtle shift in your relationship.
As the midday sun started its descent, you packed up the garbage from the sandwiches and headed back to Cole’s car.
The open road stretched out before the two of you, and the two of you continued on your journey. You and Cole sometimes making eye contact before breaking it awkwardly as you looked at the scenery and he looked back ahead.
As you arrived at a hotel that you both deemed safe enough to stop at, the sky was dark, but happiness still radiated off of both of you. Cole and you came to the front desk of the hotel, asking for a free room.
“We only have rooms with one bed left,” the receptionist stated.
Cole shrugged, looking back at you, and you did the same.
The two of you went back out to the car and grabbed your bags. You came back into the hotel, and you pulled out the key, unlocking the door and opening the door for Cole who insisted on carrying your extra bag.
It was then that you realized that it wasn’t a king sized bed but a single queen bed. It wouldn’t be that big of a deal. The two of you had cuddled plenty of times before. But not after you realized your feelings for Cole. He immediately set down the bags and jumped onto the bed as you gently set your bag down on the desk and pulled out your phone charger.
Then you grabbed clothes to change into after your shower and immediately hopped in.
When you came out of the bathroom, Cole was opening his laptop, preparing to watch a movie. You joined him on the bed, and he clicked on a horror movie. You rolled your eyes, knowing that you guys would just laugh at the stupid characters the whole time.
As the movie began, the pair shuffled so that the laptop was sat on a pillow draped across their legs as they sat with their backs against the headboard.
You felt you eyes closing but wanted to stay up to laugh with Cole. Every so often, after your head would fall slightly, you would jerk awake. Cole felt this and the next time that your head fell, he pull you even closer to him and pushed your head onto his shoulder. You felt your heart flutter, and you smiled.
As you closed your eyes, Cole closed the laptop. You matched your breathing to him and he pulled the two down so that you were no longer sitting up.
-----------
The next morning, your legs were tangled with Cole’s. You smiled and went onto your phone for a couple of minutes until he started to stir. He pulled away slightly but kept his eyes closed. He grinned, and you shook your hand in his brown hair, smiling back.
As he opened his eyes, adjusting to the light, his morning voice shined through, “Hey, early bird.”
You blushed. As long as you guys had been friends, you had never heard his morning voice. He got out of bed to take a shower, and you opened a book to try and at least get some reading time in.
When the two of you were ready, you guys went back to your usual spots in the car for the last leg of your trip to Jack and Quinn’s lake house.
“You know,” Cole leaned in closer while driving, “I can’t stop thinking about that moment at the overlook.”
You turned to him, your eyes meeting his, a playful smirk forming on your lips, “Oh, really? What about it?”
He smirked back, glancing at your, his gaze lingering on your lips for a millisecond, “I don’t know. When you looked at me… it just felt like time stood still. I can’t forget it.”
Your heart raced and you softened, “Yeah. I felt it too.”
The tension grew as you shared stolen glances and smiles. Cole’s hand occasionally brushed against yours, sending shivers down your spine.
As you came into town and stopped at a gas station, he playfully mentioned, “You know, we have always made a pretty good team on the road. Maybe we should go on more adventures together.”
You leaned in closer, feeling brave, your faces inches apart.
“I’d like that,” you replied, your breath mingling with his.
The rest of the journey was filled with similar banter. Each moment brought you slowly closer to the house, anticipation to see your brothers and the other boys electric.
As you and Cole arrived at your brothers’ lake house, the undeniable chemistry between you two reached a boiling point. The sun was setting, casting a warm, golden glow over the quiet early evening lake.
As you both stepped out of the car and stood in the driveway, Cole felt a magnetic pull towards you. With a sudden burst of courage, he leaned in and gently pressed his lips to yours. You were surprised, and the kiss was so quick you couldn’t even find the time to return the kiss. You felt all the growing emotions that had built up during the road trip and giggled with him, leaning in and hugging Cole to show your regret for the lack of response for the kiss.
The road trip was only the beginning, but the two of you were ready to continue to develop your friendship into something more as the summer went on.

Tides of the Heart Rafe Cameron x Reader
Tumblr media
As Y/N had always been on the affluent and scenic Outer Banks of North Carolina, she was somewhat of an outsider. She was raised in a lowly background and never felt quite at home among the working-class 'Pogues' or with the aristocratic 'Kook' society. Her head and heart were always in the middle, always wanting more. Conversely, Rafe Cameron embodied the stereotypical Kook. Despite coming from one of the wealthiest families on the island, he struggled with personal issues. He was constantly attempting to win over his strict father and frequently felt constrained by the demands placed upon him. Although Rafe had a reputation for being the island's bad boy, Y/N saw more in him. That fateful night, over a beach campfire, their paths collided. Rafe was captivated by Y/N because of her captivating eyes and unique outlook on life. However, Y/N was able to see behind Rafe's harsh veneer and uncover his confused soul. Their camaraderie developed gradually. At the bonfire, Rafe assisted Y/N in getting away from some Kooks who were making fun of her. In exchange, Y/N gave Rafe a listening ear when he wanted to vent about his family problems. Their friendship became stronger as they continued to find comfort in their mutual loneliness. They fell in love in spite of Rafe's fame and the social gap. They kept their love a secret from each other, exchanging long chats about their worries and dreams, whispering promises under the stars, and stealing kisses on secret beaches. But with the island's small size, secrets were difficult to maintain. Their connection caused a storm of controversy when it was revealed. Rafe's family was not fond of Y/N, and both the Kooks and Pogues shunned her. They clung to one another despite the stress, their love acting as a haven for them. For the first time, Rafe defied his family and declined to leave Y/N. His father was astonished by his audacity, but he also gained his reluctant admiration.  As for Y/N, she took the derision head-on, drawing unanticipated support from the Pogues thanks to her fortitude and tenacity. Although put to the test, their relationship persevered. Y/N and Rafe discovered that their love for one another served as a light of hope during their most difficult moments, guiding them through all of the ups and downs. Ultimately, they realized that love was more than just conforming to social norms or expectations. Finding a person who loved and accepted you for who you are was the main goal. And that was exactly what Y/N and Rafe had found in each other. Their tale of love served as a tribute to the strength of love and as a ray of hope in a society where privilege and class divide people.

Self-Care
⋆。゚☁︎。⋆。 ゚☾ ゚。⋆
Tumblr media
My self-care routine is my saving grace. When life feels like a bit too much, I retreat to my cozy space and do things that refuel my soul. Here are a few of my go-to self-care practices:
Journaling
I find journaling to be incredibly cathartic. I pour my feelings onto the page without judgment. I work through challenges, find clarity, and relieve stress. Even 15 minutes of journalling leaves me feeling refreshed and recharged. It doesn't even have to be written words, I have an 'everything page' and this could include sticky notes with words or symbols, a polaroid picture, a sticker that I got for free, a slip from a coffee date and more. It doesn't always have to make sense to the next person. Give it a try!
Yoga or light exercise
Moving your body is essential for your wellbeing. I usually breakout into the few you poses that I know by heart and just do that for a quick 15 minutes or go for a walk around my neighbourhood, peaceful and scenic. Exercise releases feel-good hormones like dopamine and serotonin that boost your mood and reduce anxiety. Go touch grass! Literally, reconnecting to nature is a grounding experience which can bring you back from a stressful day.
Call a friend
Talking to someone who cares about me always makes me feel better. I call up a close friend or family member and chat about whatever is on my mind, or whatever my day held for me. Laughter and social interaction are vital for health and happiness, try it out.
Do something creative
Tapping into my creative side is rejuvenating. I paint, bake, write stories or whatever sparks my inspiration. This blog is actually a form of outlet for me too, I just get a topic and start typing without any thoughts or direction and by the end the tension in my shoulders is less and I've got something others can learn from, or not. Creativity takes my mind off of worries and leaves me with a sense of accomplishment. You don't have to write, even finer painting does wonders.
Pamper yourself
A little pampering goes a long way. I give myself a skin care day; I deck out all my skin care products from cleanser to serum and more. Go get your nails done, nothing like a new set of claws to make you feel fierce. Taking a long bubble bath with bath salts and essential oils usually relaxes all those tense muscles. Do small things to spoil yourself and boost your confidence. You deserve it!
My self-care routine helps me decompress and renew my positive outlook on life, and if you knew me you'd know that I barely have a positive outlook at all. Make the time for yourself and the things that fill you up. Your health and happiness depend on it. What are your favorite ways to practice self-care? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below!

“Give me that!” Steve snatches the little portable radio out of Eddie’s hands. He’d been flipping through the channels back and forth for the last ten minutes. Steve dials it over, settles on some 70s classic soft rock. Some station was doing an uninterrupted marathon for New Years Eve.
Eddie snorts as the mellow stylings of Chicago’s ‘If You Leave me Now’ plays through the shitty little speaker, “Seriously, Harrington?”
“Hey, it’s better than your station shuffling. I can’t help it there isn’t much good on,” For the most part it was pop music that Eddie despised and Steve wasn’t about to subject him to. All that sandwiched between a ton of adverts and over excited radio DJs popping in between each song and going on and on about how much time was left.
The two of them were sat on top of Eddie’s van on top of Point Pleasant, a scenic little outlook. Below were frozen over pastures and just beyond that, the city of Hawkins. The two had opted to use the little portable radio after Eddie admitted to not trusting his car battery to not die if he left the radio running.
There had been rumors that the city of Hawkins was putting on a firework display but no one, not a soul, knew where they were going to be. So, the party decided to split up around the best outlooks in order to find the best spot to watch them. Each group had a walkie to call around to the others when and if the fireworks went off. Somehow, Steve thinks it less divine intervention and more Robin meddling in affairs, Steve and Eddie had been paired up.
“Need another beer?” Eddie asks. Steve just raises his half drank bottle. He’d been trying hard not to look at Eddie all night. Instead, he focused on the stars above, “Cool,” Eddie says in a sigh.
Steve tries not to think much of it, doesn’t want to think how much of a total drag he must seem right now. First with the soft rock and then with the lack of conversation.
“So, like, Robin definitely set this up so that she could be with Nancy, right?” Eddie asks, causing Steve’s head to whip around, “What? Was it supposed to be a secret? You’d have to be blind to not see the way she makes goo-goo eyes at her,” He cracks a small laugh. Steve purses his lips, nervous eyes leaving Eddie’s face to look out at nothing. If Eddie had noticed Robin’s goo-goo eyes, had Eddie noticed his glances?
“Yeah, I guess she hasn’t really been subtle about it,” Steve raises his beer to his lips, takes a long sip.
“She’s going for that midnight kiss, huh?” Eddie asks and Steve nods, “Must be nice.” Eddie says as he pulls a joint out from behind his ear.
“Never had a midnight kiss?” Steve glances back at Eddie, watches as he lights up, likes the way he looks as he takes a drag. Brows pressed together, the light of the flame gently licking his face.
“Nah,” He breathes out a chuckle, “Nah, man, I’ve uh,” Smoke is rolling out past his lips as bright pink colors the apples of his cheeks, “Never been kissed.” He holds out the joint, pulls a ringlet of hair across his face, rubs it over his lips.
“You what!?” Steve ignores the joint and Eddie’s eyes go wide.
“Jesus H. Christ, Steve, it’s not a big deal!” The bright pink goes positively red and spreads across the bridge of his nose and up to his ears.
“Yes, it is!” He blurts out. Eddie’s brows furrow, the cogs turning in his head. Steve sees the moment it clicks behind Eddie’s eyes. He can feel his own cheeks burning bright as a grin spreads over Eddie’s face.
“What’s it to you, big boy?” Eddie takes another drag off the joint, doesn’t break eye contact from Steve. Steve isn’t used to this, isn’t used to being the nervous one. Only, he’d shown his hand and was now paying the price for it. He takes a breath, shuffles through the good old Harrington Flirting Playbook.
“Not much,” He shrugs. Sure, he showed his cards and there was no real going back from that, but he can act like it was intentional. It’s out there now and with Eddie calling his hand he could play it out, “Just, if you’d like,” He leans in, watches Eddie shiver, “I could,” Steve reaches out, runs his fingertips down the side of Eddie’s face, freeing a strand of hair that had caught itself on Eddie’s lashes, “Fix that,” His fingertips trail down until they’re under Eddie’s chin. Eddie easily lets Steve tip his head up, takes in a shuddered breath in anticipation. Only, Steve reaches over, takes the joint from Eddie and moves back to take a hit off of it.
There’s the smallest of squeaks to the side of him and Steve’s trying hard to ignore the heat trailing down his neck and across his chest.
Then, a few things happen in succession.
Ten, the radio switches to ‘The Air That I Breathe’ by The Hollies.
Nine, Eddie is lunging forward, grabbing Steve up by the front of his stupidly vibrant colored puffer coat.
Eight, “Steve Harrington, you Ass-“
Seven, fireworks. Bright and big and seemingly just inches from them.
Six, Steve flicks away the joint to the gravel below.
Five, Steve’s hands card through Eddie’s hair, grinning at Eddie’s mad blush lit up by the display, taking him in before-
Four, “Happy New Year, Eddie,” Steve’s leaning in.
Three, their eyes slip shut.
Two, Steve’s nose presses into Eddie’s cheek, cold tip against soft warmth.
One, their lips touch.
Fireworks. Fireworks and Eddie’s moving into Steve’s lap. Eddie’s like a man starved, finally given food. He’s all enthusiasm, pulling Steve in closer, stealing the breath out of his lungs. Steve gently coaxes Eddie, nudges him with his nose to get him to tilt his head, licks his bottom lip, gets him to part his own. It’s a new realm. Literally zero to sixty for Eddie. He mirrors Steve as he licks into his mouth.
“Wanted this for so long,” Eddie sighs against Steve’s lips. A swirl of warmth pools in Steve’s chest, relief flooding his veins. Worry that this was just a kiss for Eddie quickly blow away in literal explosions of light and sound. Neither of them care to watch the fireworks, just need the other.
“Hello? Are the fireworks at Point Pleasant? Over!” crackles “Hello!? Dingus one and Dingus two? Do you read!? Over!” crackles, “Come on guys!”
Steve pushes the walkie off the top of the van and Eddie grins at him.
“You get a few points back for that,” Eddie comments. Steve furrows his brow.
“There were points? Wait! What did I lose points on?”
“Tossing my barely smoked joint,” Eddie says simply and Steve rolls his eyes.
“Oh, shut up!”
“Make me,” Eddie teases and Steve has no problems with doing that.

Dream mountains [Explore] by Marisa Bosqued Via Flickr: When I photograph I like, like everyone else, unusual lighting. That autumn evening had a special light, perhaps because a while later it began to snow gently Cuando fotografío me gusta, como a todos, la iluminación poco frecuente. Aquel atardecer de otoño lucía una luz especial, quizá porque un rato después empezó a nevar mansamente

For Now - Kina Grannis
I heard that someday when they look up at the night
They'll see nothing, but a black and starless sky
And they'll tell stories of some old and callow time
Claiming spectacles of brilliant burning lights
Maybe it's enough that I have laid here
Maybe it's enough that I have known inside my head, and
Maybe it's enough to know that we were here together
And that we are the ones
We are the ones
We are the ones for now
Midge lay awake staring at the ceiling in their little bungalow bedroom at Steiner, a feeling itching at the back of her mind that she couldn't shake.
It was Lenny and Kitty's first summer at Steiner. She'd insisted that they all go as a family now that she and Lenny were engaged.
It seemed like a good idea at the time.
But they'd been there for three days now and no matter how many fun Steiner-y activities for the kids Midge had nudged her towards (or pushed her to join…) Kitty still didn't seem to be having fun.
Her children were always fine running off to do their own thing, she'd just assumed Kitty would too.
She wanted so badly to prove that they could easily blend their two families into one. That Lenny and Kitty would fit right in to the Weissman summer tradition just fine.
She'd told herself it was just an adjustment period. That it always takes a little time to find your rhythm here.
But now she was starting to wonder if it had all been too much.
Or not enough…
She exhaled out a sigh, considering all she knew about Kitty.
What she liked.
What she'd been through…
And in that instant, Midge realized where she'd went wrong.
And felt like an absolute idiot for not seeing it before.
In a fit of determination to fix it, she got out of bed, shedding her nightgown and pulling on a pair of shorts and a button up shirt she found in the dark.
The shorts were hers. The shirt was Lenny's but she didn't have it in her to look for one her size.
She left her curlers in.
Once her shoes were on she tiptoed into the kid's room.
"Hey. Kitty…" she whispered, nudging her soon to be step daughter.
"Midge?" Kitty squinted at her bleary-eyed. "What time is it?"
"Mama?" Esther sat up, rubbing her eyes.
"I told Tommy that fire needed another pail of water on it" Ethan grumbled from his bunk.
Kitty blinked, slowly taking in her odd attire. "What's going on?"
"Come on. Grab your flashlights and get your shoes."
"What for?" came Ethan's muffled reply from somewhere against his pillow.
"You'll find out," Midge insisted, pulling his pillow out from under him, nearly landing him on the floor in the process.
Her son glared up at her. "Did you get into Grandpa's tomato juice or something?"
"Just get your shoes," Midge told them with a smile. "And some bug spray. We're gonna need to go through the woods for this."
"Midge?" Lenny appeared in the doorway, looking only half as awake as Ethan.
"Just the man I was going to get next." She smiled, pecking his lips. "Get your shoes. I want to show you guys something."
Lenny blinked as he watched her dash off somewhere else in the house to gather…something.
"Any of you know what this is about?" he asked.
"Not a clue," Esther replied, pulling on her shoes.
The sleep addled crew appeared outside a few minutes later where they found Midge with a bundle of lawn blankets tucked in a bag on her shoulder.
"Let's go!"
They followed as she led them through a wooded trail that wound around the lake, their flashlights dancing with the fireflies over the darkened landscape.
"You going to clue us in on where we're going?" Lenny asked.
"You'll see," she insisted.
Finally they reached a clearing in the trees that formed a scenic outlook over the lake.
"We're here."
The tired band turned to each other then back to Midge, confusion still written all over their faces.
"...What are we looking at?" Kitty asked finally.
"Just wait. It should be starting any minute now."
"What's start–Whoah!"
A collective gasp erupted from the kids as a meteor streaked the sky. Followed by another.
And another.
"I realized I've been so caught up with sharing our old traditions with you that I forgot about making some new ones of our own," Midge explained, hugging a blanket around Kitty's shoulders. "So what do you think?"
Kitty looked up at the night sky, completely awestruck. "I've never seen anything like it."
"Yeah I figured they didn't have stars quite like these in LA. You can't exactly get their autograph, but they put on a pretty good show all the same."
Kitty nodded, resting her head against Midge's shoulder. "Thank you."
"Anytime, sweetie."
"Can…can I make a wish?"
"Absolutely."
They laid out watching the sky, counting the stars and swatting away the occasional interloping insect, soaking up the magic of a summer night.
Forget all the counselor curtated camp outs and Steinerific spectacles.
Being here together was more than enough.
It's all they really ever needed.
Lenny sat down beside her as the kids marveled and chattered amongst themselves, pulling her in close to his side as he kissed her hair.
"I can't wait to marry you."
"Even when I look like this?" Midge chuckled.
Lenny smirked, taking her in with her mismatched clothing and curler bound hair.
An absolute madwoman look for the sake of making something memorable for them to share as part of the new chapter in their lives.
"Especially when you look like this."

"There can be no real and effective “freedom” in a society based on the power of money, in a society in which the masses of working people live in poverty and the handful of rich live like parasites. Are you free in relation to your bourgeois publisher, Mr. Writer, in relation to your bourgeois public, which demands that you provide it with pornography in frames and paintings, and prostitution as a “supplement” to “sacred” scenic art? This absolute freedom is a bourgeois or an anarchist phrase (since, as a world outlook, anarchism is bourgeois philosophy turned inside out). One cannot live in society and be free from society. The freedom of the bourgeois writer, artist or actress is simply masked (or hypocritically masked) dependence on the money-bag, on corruption, on prostitution." - Lenin
