Revue Starlight Sports Festival Draft!

As you know, the big Stage Girl Sports Festival Revival will take place in February - literally just a full day event of the various cast members of Revue Starlight (from anime, game, and stage plays) will participate in a funky pretend-highschool sports festival. Today the full teams were decided via draft stream!

The team leaders had previously been announced:

Koyama Momoyo (Aijo Karen, Seisho) - Yellow Team "ZERO" Tomita Maho (Tendo Maya, Seisho) - Blue Team "This is..." Nomoto Hotaru (Yukishiro Akira, Siegfeld) - Red Team "HOT" Nanaki Kanon (Yanagi Koharu, Seiran) - Green Team "shuThuarunomi" (集中あるのみ; "sTay focused")

Also quite funny to me that 3 of the team leaders (all but Maho) are former Sera Myu performers... the Sailor Moon squad has taken over

As is tradition at this point, ensemble member Jinko Moe is the MC for this stream and explains the rules. In the first two rounds, all leaders are free to pick 1 stage girl of their chosing per round from the roster as their top picks. If any chose the same person, they will have to decide by draft - the loser can then choose freely again. After round 2, all other rounds are chosen by draft completely by luck. We already knew not all cast members are going to be there so not every stage girl is available for chosing. Suzuko Mimori (Hikari), Emiri Kato (Tsukasa) and Shiina Hekiru (Souda-sensei) are going to be the MCs at the event, so they won't be participating as athletes either. Also, Tsukui Minami (Suzu) and Kobayashi Yuka (Yakumo-sensei) are a "2 for 1" deal, as they won't be able to make the whole event (iirc).

Team Zero's name is the most easily explained. Moyo gets a lot of praise from her colleagues and chat for her genius team logo design. The E is a crown with tomato jewels... I'm in awe

Maho explains the pronunciation of her team: The "..." is performed dramatically with the eyes, like the above. Lol

Nossan's design of course features Hot-kun, Akira's favourite food & beloved plushie. The Hot-kun icon is actually the inside of a chili, not a sun. Apparently.

Kanon struggled quite a bit with finding a team name, and after consulting with the other leaders in their Line chat group, she wanted a good Koharu line as the team name. Koharu's "うるさい." ("Shut up.") came to mind, but she thought that was too rude for a team name, so shuchuarunomi it became. She placed a big T (position zero!) for the "ch" sound. Complicated, but clever.

Time for drawing the teams! In round 1, everyone is asked to present their top picks for their team.

Moyo's is: MATSUZAWA! Aka Matsuzawa Kanon, who plays Shiro from Siegfeld Middle School!

Maho's is the one and only Sato Hinata - student council president of Seisho herself, Hoshimi Junna.

Nossan's top pick is: Ikuta Teru of Futaba fame!! And funnily enough...

Kanon's pick is also Teru!!! She even drew a tiny Ponzu (Teru's dog) to sway the public. The crowd goes wild. They have to let fate decide who wins over Teru for their team, and Nossan comes out on top. So Kanon gets to choose again, and her next free pick is Haruchan! Aka her fellow Photon Maiden bestie, Iwata Haruki of Mahiru fame.

Time for round 2, and last round of free picks! Again, Moyo goes first.

Moyo's second pick is Saeki Iori, who plays Rinmeikan's Yuyuko!

Maho's second pick is Sasaki Mikoi aka Mikoron, Shizuha of Frontier!

Nossan's next pick is Koizumi Moeka aka Moepii, who plays the one and only Banana! Complaints from the other leaders are heard for her making her team too strong. Lol. We'll see about that.

Kanon's pick is Kuge Kokoro of the Siegfeld Middle Schoolers, who plays Minku! No overlaps this time, so everyone gets their first pick!

The next picks are all made by random draft, so it's really just up to luck. Kanon is praying to get at least one other Seiran member for her heart. Everyone is praying not to get Aiai (lmao). Kanon manages to draw Tsumutsumu, another Photon Maiden member, making it a 3/4 for her team (with the fourth PM member, Hinata, sitting in Maho's team). For Nossan, she manages to draw two people very close to her - Ozaki Yuka (Michiru) and Kadoyama Yoko (Hisame), two of Akira's girlfriends. Moyo gets both of the Yumeoji siblings. Maho gets to draw her bestie's wife, KDHR. Kanon's wish is fulfilled by drawing the 2for1 duo of Minami&Kobayashi, her fellow Seirans. The crowd goes wild when Nossan draws Aiai, her team being declared the noisiest for sure (they're not wrong, this will be utter chaos).

Final distribution:

I seem to be on a "fave media x 80's cult classic" kick right now (there'll be a Sailor Moon x Back to the Future post sometime in the future), so let's have my latest combo: the Young Jedi Knights Squad (Jaina, Jacen, Zekk, Tenel Ka, and Raynar) as The Breakfast Club! Aka a fanfic that i will never write and yet so desperately want to see written i already made Fanart for it. Go figure. Anyways have some iconic scenes from the movies!

The Players:

Zekk is, obviously, the "delinquent"; he's an orphan, he has to work and scrounge up his food and clothes, he pulls harebrained schemes for the adrenaline rush--he's a teacher's (specifically Brakiss's) worst nightmare. Of course, that's not all he is; he's got a key mind for mechanics and technology, helped by his scrap searching; he stays out at all hours because he doesn't like being home alone (his guardian Peckham, who he loves like family, is often away as a truck driver, and it gets lonely in their little house without him); he's kindhearted, and fiercely loyal, he just doesn't want to let anyone in out of fear of losing them, or that they won't like what they see....

Jaina is the "princess"; the only daughter of the Governor, she's been groomed to play nice and hang out with the other children of politicians and CEOs since she was just a little girl. Nowadays they form her primary group of friends, the most popular kids in school, looked up to--or down upon-- by their peers in equal measure. And... She kinda hates it. She stays with them only out of obligation, to make her mother's life easier, but she doesn't particularly care about any of them and doesn't even particularly enjoy their company; it's all drama and gossip and a revolving cacophony of dating and breaking up and bitter exes and rivalries and she is sick of it. She would much rather be spending her time at her dad's auto shop, getting her hands dirty tuning up engines and changing oil and bonding with Han. She can't tell anyone that tho, it would ruin her reputation...

Jacen is the "jock"; the twin brother of Jaina, he also feels a certain pressure to stay in with the popular crowd. He achieves this by being captain of the fencing team; it's no star quarterback position but it is still respectable among his peers. Fencing isn't his true passion, tho; he'd much rather be spending all his time at the local animal shelters, or assisting at the zoo. He's an animal lover through and through, but it's something he hides from his "friends" so that they don't have reason to shun him for being a "sissy." He knows there's nothing ignoble about his hobby, but they don't know that....

Tenel Ka is, for lack of a better term, the "weirdo"; she comes from somewhere called Dathomir, from a culture of fierce warrior women, and boy, does she act like it. She will readily duel anyone who looks at her wrong, she eats entire animal legs for lunch, and she never seems to show much emotion.... Ever. Add to that her missing arm (which no one knows the truth about btw, rumors fly about it being anything from a childhood accident to one of her duels gone wrong), and she cuts an intimidating figure that most students avoid. Is there more to her than that? Oh is there. Is there ever.

Raynar Thul is the final member of the crew; he's the "trust fund baby" that hangs out with a very specific clique that even Jaina and Jacen aren't a part of. He comes across as snobbish and standoffish, unwilling to dabble with anyone "lesser". This is a front, however; he projects this persona because it's what his parents expect from him, and he doesn't want word getting back to them about what he actually does: extensive volunteer work. Raynar has a drive to help people, and has been trying to use his privilege all through high school to do just that, by volunteering at food banks and for highway clean up, and donating as much of his allowance as physically possible where he can. In fact, it's how he met his girlfriend Lusa, but that's a whole other can of worms...

Magical Initiative: Walpurgisnacht trailer

A trailer for the fourth (but not the last) Magical Initiative movie, inspired by the 1st Endgame trailer.

(Open on a computer screen displaying a video ready to play, while somber music can be heard in the background. The cursor hits the play icon, and the video starts, the footage displaying Oriko Mikuni in her Puella Magi garb.)

Oriko: Is this thing on?

(She pauses.)

Oriko: Hello there. My name is Oriko Mikuni. If you’re hearing this, it means I am now dead.

(Shot of Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask greeting the Starlights and Sailor Kinmoku [Princess Kakyuu]. Luna and Artemis stand in human form nearby.)

Oriko (v/o): But I have foreseen much of what is to come after I am gone.

(Shot of Aguri Madoka comforting Yuma Chitose. They are joined by Kyoko, who is carrying a bag of steaming hot buns. Shots of the Sailor Senshi, Symphogear squad, Smile Cures, and Mew Mews interacting with the purified Gertrud, HN Elly, Elsa Maria, and Patricia, respectively.)

Oriko (v/o): Thus, I have made these recordings so you will be prepared.

(Shot of Westar, Soular, Marmo, Ira, and the Dokkashi approaching Alyssa Searrs and Miyu Greer in a park. As the former servants of Moebius and Deep Blue engage Miyu in conversation, Marmo and Ira crouch down to where Alyssa is sitting, Marmo holding out a small blob of purple and yellow energy that continuously changes form.)

Oriko (v/o): You deserve to know the whole truth about the Incubators.

(Shot of multiple silver-black wormlike creatures looking up at an enormous three-headed, gem-encrusted monster resembling a chimeric hybrid of snake, beetle, and moth—the Incubator queen. Cut back to the video.)

Oriko: And more importantly, how to end the suffering they cause—permanently.

(The video pauses as the camera zooms out, revealing several silhouetted figures watching. Cut to a crowd of people standing on a riverbank, placing small paper boats carrying candles into the water. At the same time, the background music changes, becoming more ‘an epic battle is about to begin’ in tone.)

Hibiki (v/o): We drove the Incubators away, but at a great cost.

(Shots of various girls holding swiftly blackening Soul Gems. Some are trying to clean them with Grief Seeds, but the taint keeps building no matter how many seeds they use.)

Fate (v/o): Every Puella Magi we didn’t save...is now an Eldritch witch.

(Shots of different Puella Magi collapsing lifelessly, their Soul Gems turning to Grief Seeds as new Eldritch witches emerge in droves.)

Yuna (v/o): So much was lost because of their lies.

(Shot of Vita and Signum sparring with Kyoya and Miyuki Takamachi. Despite being new to Mid-Childan magic, Nanoha’s siblings are proving surprisingly adept.)

Mami (v/o): But at the same time, for all they stole away...

(Cut to Mami, Kyoko, and Nagisa, all possessing traits of their witch forms, speaking to a group of other purified Eldritch witches. Among them is Carola, AKA Kazumi Subaru, who is passing out tea and strawberry tarts to the others.)

Homura (v/o): ...they may have given us the key to destroying them.

(Shot of the Go Princess Cures face to face with Mai Tokiha, Mikoto Minagi, and Natsuki Kuga. After a moment, Cure Flora and Mai take each other’s hands, all present wearing looks of grim determination.)

Cure White (v/o): This war isn’t over yet.

(Shot of the Regalia trio, the girls from Asunaro and Hoozuki, and the Fresh Cures in their civilian forms watching what looks like a mass of storm clouds on the horizon. As the camera zooms in on it, however, the form of a certain super-Eldritch becomes somewhat visible.)

Cure Black (v/o): We will avenge the fallen.

(Cut to the Prism—old and new members alike—gathered outside the Lunarium. Sailor Moon stands before the assembled magical girls and allies, looking determined.)

Sailor Moon: It’s time to take the Incubators down, once and for all.

oh bestie dont say that cause we can be here stuck forever you and i and my musical taste and my terrible obession with the bloodharbor ripper.

however, if you insist... longpost warning :) no particular order just as im doing a mental and a playlist check.

first animatic of my hellpit: Soul Fighter Gwen and Pyke doing the Lunchbox Friends handshake. Just because its iconic and they are best friends. Seems horrid to animate or to conceptualize in an understandable way to do an animatic, but they are iconic and they are besties and they do this. Convince me otherwise.

second animatic of the hellpit of my mind: Empire ants by Gorillaz. Originally was about my fave lol champions and my friend main champions (initially Pyke, Lulu, Thresh, Ahri and Varus) but yeah, i dont know. Im thinking about just Bilgewater champions, lyrics are very fitting to the feeling of living there, and also because i think Pyke would listen to gorillaz specially this album haha. Animatic like the videoclip with conceptual illustrations of the characters just doing stuff, dunno, would be cool.

I recently thought about an animatic with Sarah x Illaoi breakup with Woke Up from adventure time Obsidian, not polished idea but could be interesting if explored.

'I'll die anyway' by girl on red animatic for Ruined King AU Pyke. Whoopsie. Animatic with slow descend to horrible ending, isolation feelings, mm it reeks trauma baby. And i would add a small animatic or illustration with 'Sayo-Nara' from DDLC. Just to stab myself right on the heart.

Oooooohhh i always dreamed with doing an animatic with the Sailor Moon opening with the first 5 star guardians, keeping it that 90's anime style. Its so polished in my mind. I also love to imagine star guardian Lux in the place of Usagi in 'otome no policy'.

I also imagine an animatic with the Ahri (recent) team (Fortune, Syndra, Soraka, Ezreal) but with My Sweet Heart from Tokyo Mew Mew. Just to give them another opening. Its what a foxgirl leader makes me think about.

'Awoken' By wooden toaster was such a banger, it's been a while i imagine a whole animatic with Empyrean Pyke on it, seeing how he was before becoming an empyrean, his empyrean self, and how he haunts the other versions of himself, but always having some root to his old self, if that makes sense?

Any song by cascada. Not an animatic but it would be funny to make an mv circa 2012 of our beloved boogie man. Cause everytime we touch i get this feeling and everytime we kiss i swear i can fly. Rainbow effects and images rotating with rad 2010 video effects. My fever dream. Or with 'Monster'. I would throw up of happiness.

Althought i always wanted a 'Suki Suki Daisuki' by Jun Togawa animatic about Pyke. Expression of love through violence? Damn. I rotate him in my mind like a rotisserie chiken everytime i listen to it. Kinda like the videoclip where he would be stubborn but also a sucker for affection.

this fucking song hits too hard i dont know where to start. I thought about EVERYTHING. Ocs. Self Insert. Default Pyke. Ruined King in general. Other Star Guardians. It never fails. Most recent one is animatic of Soul Fighter Gwen and Pyke where she refuses to accept his death and to let him go but she reasures her that things are just the way they are, but you know Gwen wont accept it nonetheless and will always do everything to keep him alive.

Funnily enough i always thought about an animatic with Chip and Dale rescue rangers theme but with the Omega Squad. Its edgy and its cool in essence but what if they were actually goofy and corny? Episodic? No one dies dramatically and they are just silly? Tristmo undertone? Heck yeah.

Obey Me! Dark Headcannons:

TW: Some gore, spiders, graphic stuff lol.

Lucifer: How does one show off that he's the first avatar? By intimidating others with his soul count of course! Lucifer keeps the souls he's captured within his long coat. Sometimes a hand or two managed to crawl out and grab whatever or whoever, in reach. Freaks Mammon the hell out when he sees a hand wave back at him.

Mammon: The Crows. Its a iconic feature for Mammon to have. Its his squad. In a non-cute way, anyone that owes Mammon money will feel paranoid at night. A murder of Crows following their every move. More and more appear when the day of debt must be repaid. You can research what Crows will do with a dead carcass to see what happens next.

Leviathan: Still waters run deep. We've managed to explore the moon yet we can't seem to conclude about what's at the bottom of the ocean floor. Victims of the sea such as Sailors, pirates, soon to be desolate ships, can be found eerily on display near cliffs of his terrain. Take it as a warning to set sail back to shore.

Satan: Fire is the Devils only friend. The smallest flame can set the biggest fire. Satan relies on minimal light in order to see from far away. Lost travelers in the woods find his light, only to be tempted and swayed into a sense of false comfort. Don't go near the light.

Asmodeus: Asmo loves pretty things doesn't he? Before associating with Majolish and other Devildom designers. He made his own clothes from scratch. Made from the finest silk from spiders of course. Crawling out of his perfect porcelain skin, weaving in and out to make a beautiful gown to adorn his perfect body with. The process is behind closed doors.

Beelzebub: Upon his flesh throne the beast consumes endless amounts of unmentionable "edibles." His yearning for pure flesh is locked deep inside of him. He wishes to stop but he simply can't. He gives into the pleasure that can only last for so long. Beelzebub. The glutton, consumer of flesh, strength, power, and souls of the damned.

Belphegor: Dwelling among the stars of the Devildom is hidden the all seeing eye of ones deep unconscious during slumber. The stars are his eyes. The moon is his refuge. He will go at nothing to haunt the dreams of the dammed. The creaks in the hallways, the shadows hidden by branches he lurks. Ready to strike the mind, to break every last fragment of hope and mercy.

That anaversary aizen looks absolutely fabulous, he looks like a figure skater xd.

I heard along time ago the last arc of the anime was being animated finally bc they pulled a 90s sailor moon were the last season was not either animated or dubbed untill decades later.

I recall near the end of the current 366 episodes there was an episode were the creapy demon ppl woke up in hell and we're all bitter, and there was the other guy who was like, iM cOmEiNg FoR u IChIgO, but then is never mentioned again after and I'm like,why? Why is lt there just plopted randomly into a different arc that seams unrelated.

And locking aizen up underground seems ok, but It deff won't hold, and he will. Escape, and he will kill, you either need that one spell from star, dubbed, the darkest spell of moon the undaunted, a powerfull dark spell that killed immortal beings, that came from best character, eclipsa, the queen of darkness.

We need that.

Or stick him I'm crystal like eclipsa was in star. Is there no one who could trap him in ice or crystal for all eternity.

How about throw him into the centre of a volcano trapped and caged , forverr being killed by heat?

Yes, I love anniversary Aizen. His original octopus-butterfly hollow design was ugly so I'm glad he's back to being the fashion icon he is.

Locking Aizen up underground once is one thing, doing it twice after saying he got more powerful by just sitting there, and he escaped to battle the Quincy Soul King God... is another. I think he should have escaped at the end of the Quincy arc. That is the only feasibility.

I heard the anime is coming back for the Quincy arc as well, but because of COVID its probably going to be delayed. (I'm not gonna watch it until the Rain section of the arc then I'm dipping out. I'm only here for Zangetsu)

So hey you had a premonition! Syazel .... returned? And his hole is outside of his body??? for some reason???

(I didn't understand the explanation or why / how that happens and what that means for the hollow)

And my friend and I were laughing because out of ALL the things. Kubo could do in this anniversary. He gave Syazel his dick back after going to hell. That is iconic. (that's where his hole was located, and now that its not on his body ... well...) This is the funniest thing Kubo has EVER pulled. Kudos to you, sir.

The entire internet is freaking out over Ukitake being in hell. Honestly Kubo has done far worse, and we've established that Soul Society is a corrupt system that hasn't changed, so I'm not surprised he would pull something like this.

At the same time, Kubo 1. cheated his audience. 2. continues to prove me right that he cannot bring himself to kill his characters

1. Hollows who have commit murder in their human life are sent to hell. Syazel and Aaorniero are two of these hollows, and yet, when they are killed, there is NO gates of hell scene. We see them there later in the hell chapter (which was more of a promotion for the fourth movie and I didn't believe it would hold any merit)

But the same goes for Ukitake. We never see the gates of hell take him. What, was hell late? Did hell's gates get lost like an uber before picking him up? It's bull. Withholding such vital information from your audience, not showing the gates of hell when they should pick up this soul IMMEDIATELY is ... I mean its a lie. Kubo lied to his audience.

2. Now we are told powerful shinigami are sent to hell when they die. First of all that sounds like a security threat. Wouldn't shinigami want revenge for that? Or attempt to escape? Why would they still hold loyalty after being sent to a prison of eternal suffering?

Also "Yhwach and Aizen" were the only ones keeping Hell's gates closed is way too convenient and doesn't really make any sense. I feel like Aizen should have deliberately gone to hell to retrieve powerful shinigami / hollows for his army instead of keeping it /closed/.

This is definitely a Kubo-doesn't-know-what-he's-doing-and-is -making- stuff-up-as-he-goes, but it might have a pinch of merit because of previous plot lines.... but either way, there's some big plot holes here, but again, its Kubo, so I expected nothing less.

Again, he can't kill off his characters. He introduced zombification, he introduced immortality through the hougyoku, he has Orihime and Hachigen's reversal / rejection abilities. He brought back Luppi, friggen.... a character who's entire upper half of his body was incinerated. Like.... come on. No. He's dead, you can't bring him back like that. That's a cop out and just weird. You're taking away consequences and grief.

(Also Yamamoto and Unohana deserve to be in hell far over Ukitake, they've done some fcked up stuff in their pasts unlike him)

Also Kubo's favorite character is Mayuri, which.... you're allowed to have a favorite problematic character. But Keeping said character alive and bared from the consequences of abusing his daughter, murdering innocents, and experimenting on your own squad members? Nah. Nope. Kill him, Kubo. Kill this dude.

(his weird attachment to Mayuri is probably why he keeps bringing Syazel back, since Syazel is Mayuri 2.0, but Syazel is the bad guy who does face consequences for his actions while Mayuri is not)

Also, I'm certain Kazui and Orihime are going to be THRILLED that their precious husband/dad is going to hell when he dies :)

(I just... Rukia teased Ichigo about leaving Orihime at home. She teased him about having a house wife who he leaves all the chores to. Orihime had two panels. She checks on her son who promised he would be at home and sleep. Kazui fcking breaks his promise like it never mattered to him and JUMPS out the window after pretending to sleep in front of his mother. ... An 8 year old... alone... in the middle of the night.)

Orihime is abandoned. She is not invited to SS, she is not informed of what is going on, her son leaves her.... I...

Orihime is a side character. She doesn't matter anymore. She hasn't mattered for a long, long time.

A part of me is glad she had little screen time, since she tends to waste it, but another part of me is embroiled with rage.

I've even see people try to defend this. "Orihime and Ichigo can't be together ALL the time, that's an unhealthy relationship!" and I'm like guys... that's not the point. The point is Orihime is not part of Ichigo's other life. Any shinigami stuff from now on is none of her business. She's going to stay at home while Kazui and Ichigo go off and save the world. Ichigo is going to be fighting by Rukia and Renji while Orihime watches from the sidelines, or worse, doesn't even know what is going on with her husband and son. Orihime is going to be uninformed and abandoned, because she has not proven she is capable of fighting by their sides(go on, @ me. I will fight this. She's a failure.), and also because she prefers a human life over a dead one. Which is ironic, because she married a dead man. Ichigo is a shinigami, and he will be one forever. god forbid she ever meets his Zanpaktou. She would tremble in fear at the monsters her husband harbors in his soul, especially when she realizes they don't care about her and would rather see her dead. (Zangetsu would absolutely kill Orihime. Not sure about Kazui, but Orihime has not accepted Zangetsu, she does not like either of them, and the feeling is assuredly mutual.) frick now I want to make a comic about this

Also still frustrated over Zangetsu's shikai / bankai regression. Kubo once again lied to his audience. Ichigo has no bankai. How ridiculous is that? The main character of BLEACH doesn't have a bankai. Insulting.

(RIP to Chad. He doesn't exist anymore. He's just gone. No mention, no cameo. Gone.)

Kazui is a demon child. That character from the novels? Hikone? They're the same character. Literally same personality, same power level. Its worse because Kazui is a liar. He constantly goes behind his parents' backs. He can summon creepy fish and creepy eyeballs and open portals like is ANYONE aware of this? How has SS not kidnapped Ichigo's son and experimented on him / locked away his powers yet? All substitute shinigami require a reiatsu controlling / spy badge to keep them in line. Where is Kazui's? Or is he just a weird fullbringer?

I was worried Kubo was gonna try and pull a knock off Boruto but luckily he kept the focus on Ichigo and the others. But that being said, Ichika and Kazui are now just... sort of there? Kazui was kinda just.... having his own adventure that doesn't matter to the plot at hand, and Ichika had some nice characterization at first but she just hid behind her dad the whole time.

I have a feeling Kazui is gonna step in at the last minute or do some major behind the scenes thing that indirectly interferes with the main plot so no one will realize how powerful and dangerous he actually is. Its sad because Ichika is the superior character in personality and likability, but she clearly is not going to have a bigger part in this.

Ichigo having a normal life after everything still feels extremely boring and uncomfortable to me. Everyone's like 'I'm still bLEACH!" but.... BLEACH just... doesn't feel like BLEACH anymore. It hasn't for a while now.

There's two new shinigami characters. Didn't care for the girl, but the Sign Language kid who talks to animals is adorable ... however... he just reminds me of Chad, and I just... it hurts knowing Chad has essentially been deleted. Chad and Orihime are officially benched. They have chosen the human world, and Orihime has given Ichigo his spawn so she has no more use/purpose to him anymore... ////sigh

Also. This is claimed to be a new "arc". So is the BLEACH manga coming back? What is happening. I thought Kubo was tired and didn't want to do BLEACH anymore. I thought Shounen Jump cut him off. People made so many excuses for Kubo and why the past two arcs have been so badly written the past 6 years and now almost everything they've attempted to defend him with has been revoked.

BLEACH is going to continue to screw up its plot lines and characters, so Its probably best for it to stay dead but I've seen a lot of Kubo stans drooling over this content, they're desperate for BLEACH's return, but its already given out all its possible revelations. There's really nothing else to top here. It's just going to make things up as it goes along ,and I'm not really here for half-assed writing like that, especially since the damage of rushing the previous manga has already been done. Kubo and Shounen Jump are riding off a money nostalgia. None of this was planned.

Honestly though.... overall feeling of this chapter, not as bad as it could have been.

Syazel stole the spotlight, and he's my friend's favorite character, so that's all that really matters.

1) RENFRI!

First impression: I remember wondering if she was being set up as Geralt's love interest at first and I also remember thinking "okay yes I love her, she's badass, he clearly is intrigued by her, they're both people who have been wronged by society/the people who should have protected and loved them, they have great chemistry and are unbothered by each other's respective quirks, etc etc" AND THEN SHE WAS KILLED :')))))

Impression now: I am Angry about the way she was treated as a character. I know all the short stories were meant to kind of play off of existing fairy tales and make them darker, but damn why didn't Renfri get to live her best Snow White life ): She deserved to live. She deserved to make out with Geralt a bunch more times.

Favorite moment: THE SWORD FIGHT AHHHHH honestly I don't think I'd ever appreciated a sword fight in media until I saw the Renfri Vs Geralt one. Iconic.

Idea for a story: Once upon a time I did write a little tiny thing for @annablume's idea of pirate!Renfri and Lady!Geralt and honestly I am a little sad I didn't write more because that was truly inspired.... I still think about it sometimes, even now that I'm not really into Witcher stuff anymore.

Unpopular opinion: She should have been Geralt's girlfriend/wife instead of Yennefer. Sorry not sorry.

Favorite relationship: In case it wasn't obvious......Renfri/Geralt 5ever thank you goodbye

Favorite headcanon: She did not die!!! It was all a RUSE!!!!!! She faked her death, waited until Geralt left town, gathered up her squad, and she's still out there somewhere causing havoc and living her best life. You can rip this headcanon from my cold dead fingers.

2) Jack Harkness (Doctor Who)

First impression: I really cannot remember because I watched Doctor Who for the first time SO LONG AGO!!!! I think I remember not really liking him much? He's very much a snarky playboy at first and it's not as endearing straight off the bat before you get to know him.

Impression now: I liked him! He's one of my favorite reoccurring characters and while I didn't watch Torchwood, I'm glad he got his own show!

Favorite moment: I can't remember the episode number or title, but when they're on that space station that has turned into deadly game shows? That entire episode. Every one of his moments in that episode.

Idea for a story: I don't really think about stories for Doctor Who. I don't know why, I think the vastness of it intimidates me lol

Unpopular opinion: I don't think I have one for him!

Favorite relationship: I thought his kiss with Nine was pretty intriguing. If I didn't ship Nine and Ten so hard with Rose, Jack would be my next choice.

Favorite headcanon: I can't remember if this ended up being canon or not but he is the Face of Boe! I know I've seen it discussed before, way back in the day, during the height of SuperWhoLock.

3) Cobb Vanth (The Mandalorian)

First impression: Completely neutral. Just another weird space cowboy character. I thought his silver hair was cool though.

Impression now: A weird space cowboy with cool silver hair that I would commit crimes for.

Favorite moment: Any of the times he is actively being all marshal-y towards the townsfolk. The man EXUDES competence and confidence and we love that in this house.

Idea for a story: I always love to think about how a reunion between him and Din would go. I think he's someone Din trusts, having fought such a huge and powerful common enemy together, and I'd love to see them have some time to get to know each other under significantly less pressure. Just some quality bonding time. With some light making out. Maybe not so light, who knows!!!!!!

Unpopular opinion: The fandom is bad at writing convincing Cobb dialogue. People tend to either completely overdo the drawl or don't play it up enough to convey him convincingly. Maybe it's because I live in a part of the world where that accent is common and I hear it daily, but its VERY rare that I read a fic with him in it and the way he speaks doesn't make me cringe.

Favorite relationship: I like him with Din a lot! I think they have very good chemistry and have enough in common to get along pretty well. I also (along with maybe 2 or 3 other people) ship him with Boba Fett. I cannot explain to you why this ship works but I promise it does. I think its the "enemies to still enemies but they fuck sometimes to lovers" aspect.

Favorite headcanon: It's never shown or acknowledged in the show, but Cobb was raised a slave on Tatooine. He has a scar that denotes his status as such on the back of his neck. He also has a scar on the side of his face near his temple that isn't ever given an explanation. We know from the Prequel movies that the slaves on Tatooine have chips in their bodies to prevent them from escaping, so I think that scar on Cobb's face is where he was able to have his taken out or where he cut it out himself so he could escape from slavery.

4) 1 random Sailor Moon character...I'll go with Sailor Moon herself

First impression: She's much less of a commanding presence than I would have assumed! She seems like a very well portrayed teen girl! (I went into my first episode of this show with absolutely NO previous experience with it, and Anna has me watching from the middle of the 5th season)

Impression now: I've only seen three episodes and I think my first impression still stands. I knew she was young, but she really does come across as age appropriate as opposed to how mature some anime teen characters are. She's passionate, but in a very child-like way, and its offset a lot by her carefree and sweet personality.

Favorite moment: Literally any time she yells out one of those signature named attacks. They're so ridiculous, did NO ONE speak ANY English when these lines were approved lmao It's actually pretty fun to watch each episode and see how progressively funny the attack names get so that's enjoyable.

Idea for a story: I've only seen three episodes, we're definitely not in story imagining territory yet lol

Unpopular opinion: Again, I'm only three episodes in, so I haven't formed enough of an opinion about anything to comment on yet!

Favorite relationship: I've seen approximately 30 seconds of her with her canon bf Mamoru and they're fine I guess??? Little bit of an age gap but that's common in anime. He seems like a decent enough dude, he just has terrible taste in jewelry :b Anna is doing her best to subtly influence me in the direction of Seiya/Usagi and honestly I am not opposed to that. Seiya is cool and has enormous BDE which contrasts nicely with Usagi's goofiness and sweetness.

Favorite headcanon: Haven't seen enough to have any yet! :)

5) Shrek (Shrek)

First impression: This movie came out in 2001. I CANNOT remember. I do know that I saw it in theaters, though.

Impression now: Relatable af. I too would prefer people got out of my swamp and left me alone. I also tend to isolate myself because I often feel like an outsider no one wants to be around :')))))

Favorite moment: The whole development of his relationship with Fiona was very realistic and cute. The montage of her participating in the weird ogre activities he likes and genuinely liking them too was just....really good.

Idea for a story: I will not be writing Shrek fanfic,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I did base an AU around Shrek once or twice though.,,,,,,,,,,,

Unpopular opinion: Human Shrek looks like Eskel from tw3. I will not be accepting criticism at this time nor ever.

Favorite relationship: I loved that he found a kindred spirit in Fiona <3

Favorite headcanon: I honestly do not think about Shrek enough to have headcanons.

Also i threw in Victor Frankenstein cause he deserves to get smashed over the head with a slate by an 11 year old actually, maybe it'll teach him some humility like it did Gilbert.

And I'm also of the opinion that Zekk's dynamic with the twins when they were younger is basically 50% Off Makoto and Nagisa, so i present Zekk, explaining one of his many adventures to a pair of kids that i will explain below the cut because their story is... Complicated, and started literally a decade ago 😅

Pitch Perfect RarePair Week 2022, Day 1

Because we all know the REAL reason Jessica and Ashley didn't get much screentime in the movies was because they were busy being James Bond-esque super spies/secret agents and living out their very own Mrs. and Mrs. Smith AU. Speaking of, hey, Pitch Perfect fandom? I have seen ZERO Mrs. and Mrs. Smith AU's for these two yet and I am APPALLED. It's perfect for them! Secret hidden lives, confusion over names (because they've got so many cover identities it's hard to keep track who's who), JESSICA'S LAST NAME IS LITERALLY SMITH THIS FIC WRITES ITSELF.

*ahem*

Anyways, welcome to my first entry (EVER!!) for Pitch Perfect RarePair Week! I rewatched the first movie recently, hyperfixated, and came to the realization that, apparently, it's "oops all rarepairs and hot takes" for me 😅. This seemed like the perfect way to tentatively test the waters of truly joining in, ya know? And so, I offer this drawing as your prompt, oh fic writers of the fandom; if you want to write this AU, you've already got free fan art for it! And my undying devotion.

This is, of course, for Prompt #1, "this is me trying"; I'm sure this was intended to be an angsty, emotional turmoil between partners prompt, but I couldn't help but turn it on its head into a comedic exchange in the middle of a High Stakes Infiltrate-and-Extract job, ya know? YOU try cracking the safe then, Jessica, if you think it's so easy! 😂

So, I really wanted a bookmark featuring my all time favorite Anne quote, aka the "diamond sunbursts and marble halls" line. But I couldn't find a good bookmark that I liked that also featured that line, so I just decided, what the hey, I'll make one myself, and I can do it exactly the way I want to! And then I did 😂.

I wanted a double-sided bookmark so I could feature a scene from each of my two favorite adaptations of Anne, i.e. the Sullivan movies and Anne with an E. I knew the Sullivan side would have the main quote since said quote actually appeared in the movies, and from there it was an easy decision to pair it with the reunion scene from A Continuing Story, a) because that scene has lived rent free in my head since I was 10, and b) while the first kiss that came after the actual line was beautiful, the reunion scene brings a different, more desperate emotion to the quote that I really like. It's in the way they clutch at each other desperately, the way Gilbert's face is pressed into her shoulder so tightly you can see wrinkles in his skin appear, the way Anne runs her fingers through his hair, the whole scene just screams "all I've wanted for two straight years was just to hold you in my arms again" and I burn I pine I perish.

After that it was just a matter of figuring out the Anne with an E side. I decided pretty quickly that I wanted the bonfire scene, both to contrast the other side by splitting the image up and because that scene, almost more than the actual first kiss scene, really cemented Gilbert's love for Anne to me, you can see it in his eyes as he looks up at her, illuminated by fire, like he's looking at his own personal goddess. And with that idea came the decision to use his letter as the quote, albeit shortened cause homeboy was rather wordy in confessing his love (which I adore that's a whole other rant) so that I kept the main, emotional hooks.

Then, I surrounded each one with meaningful flowers (lilies of the valley for the og, queen Anne's lace for the newbies), splashed some watercolors across the backgrounds for some flavor, and that was that!

Btw these are both done on toned mixed-media paper, it's thick and it's almost a cross between card stock and cardboard. I designed the whole thing in pencil, inked it in black and white, then threw watercolor over the top before finishing with water soluble markers and retouches to the white gel ink where needed. I plan to laminate this for it's protection but these pictures were taken unlaminated.

Cliffnotes version: Please don’t be a dick, and tell me if you have a problem with something. If you have OCs, please get to know me, preferably through canon muse interactions, before we talk about something with OCs.

OC Policy

I am OC skeptical. That doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with your OC or that I look down on you for having an OC. I have many myself. However, I also grew up roleplaying on the internet and have dealt with way too many badly crafted OCs and had too many bad experiences with OCs and threads and verses that go nowhere. I’d like to RP with canons first while we’re getting to know each other before bringing OCs into the mix. If you don’t have any canons, it’s going to take a very compelling plot idea to get me interested in roleplaying with your OC, and I’m not even remotely interested in “let’s have them meet and see where it goes” threads; bitch ain’t got time or energy for that. Generally speaking, I am not interested in shipping your OC with my muses unless we have established a good writing relationship already.

General

nerdqueenmari is the hub/personal blog from which all of my follows, likes, and comments will come. You are welcome to follow whichever of my blogs you like, but be aware that if you are mutuals only and you do not follow this blog, I may be unable to tell if we are or are not mutuals, so I may inadvertently unfollow you on a blog cleanup.

I am an impulsive roleplayer who follows the inspiration. I try to stay on top of my drafts and ongoing threads, but if you roleplay with me, you need to be ready to be patient. I am a human being who suffers from anxiety and depression, and real life concerns and needs will always take precedence over roleplay.

I am picky. I do my best to be friendly and open to everyone, but I am selective about who makes it into my “regular” circle and from there into my squad. If we don’t click, we don’t click, and that’s okay - I’m not going to be offended, but I do expect that we will treat each other with mutual courtesy.

I try to stay on top of my notifications. With tumblr being as unreliable as it is, it is entirely possible that I have missed or accidentally overlooked your attempt to interact with me. It’s okay to message me to ask about the status of something, as long as it’s just a gentle reminder, and not a passive aggressive attempt to get me to prioritize your thread or something. If you have a habit of poking me in a way that is stressful, I will simply not respond. Please be respectful when asking me about something.

Please don’t ask me if I want to RP with you. I probably do, but the question itself makes me really nervous, though, because I’m never quite sure how to answer. Please read over my rules and send a starter, tag or meme! If you aren’t sure how our characters would meet, it’s okay to message me, but I’d prefer an ask that I can respond to without the anxiety that comes with being in any instant messaging format.

You do not need to comply with any particular format of posting or writing to roleplay with me. I generally do not format posts, though I do trim longer posts and try not to reblog asks directly. You are more than welcome to use icons or not, although be aware that I am likely not to. #lazy

I welcome threads of any length, so never feel like you have to send me a multi-para reply or like you can’t expand a quickie/one-liner if the situation seems right for it. As with being an impulsive roleplayer, I think it’s more important to keep things moving than to necessarily match length and style. Longer replies WILL take me longer, so if you prefer multi-para/novella, please be aware that our rp together is likely going to be very slow.

I follow the “yes, and” and “no, but” philosophies of roleplaying. If you don’t give me anything to work with, the thread is going to get dropped.

I will not be offended if you drop a thread with me or let me know you’re not interested in something I proposed. Roleplay is meant to be fun, and we are all responsible for our own online experiences; if one of us isn’t on board with something, then we should try something else!

General Shipping Rules

Chemistry and canon are the bywords here. If there is a feasible canon basis for shipping a thing, then I will ship the thing and write that ship with few exceptions (noted on a muse by muse basis as necessary). If there is no canon basis for shipping a thing, but we have noticed that the muses in question have good chemistry, I will probably ship the thing and write that ship.

Fans Unhappy Iconic Anime Characters Are Being Used For Tokyo Olympics

The Tokyo Olympics kicks off next month in Japan. To promote the games, iconic characters like Sailor Moon, Astro Boy, and Naruto have been enlisted.

The Japanese Olympic Committee has been tweeting images of the previously announced characters, which are decked out in “Japan” emblazoned outfits to show their support for the Games.

But as website Hachima Kikou reports (here and here), fans are not pleased—especially those against the Tokyo Olympics and calling for its cancellation. Here is a sample of some of the comments:

“This is awful.” “This will make Astro Boy’s image bad.” “Don’t use this character [Naruto] in these dirty Olympics.” “If [Osamu] Tezuka was alive, would he approve of holding this Olympics?” “Stop this. Seriously, stop it. Don’t get [Sailor] Moon wrapped up in this.” “They’re just drawings.” “The creator of Astro Boy was a doctor. The Olympics should not be supported over human life, because this is an emergency due to the novel coronavirus.” “You’re making a bad call, Japan Olympic Committee.” “It’s sad to see Sailor Moon used like this commercially. This is confirmation that the current Olympics are the worst.” “Complain to the copyright holders who permitted this.” “This is dirtying up Usagi Tsukino’s image.” “This is blasphemy to the God of Manga (Tezuka).” “This is embarrassing so please stop.” “Osamu Tezuka is weeping...” “I’m looking forward to the Olympics! I’ll be cheering from my house.” “People who get upset over this are unhinged.” “Apologize to Tezuka.” “I will punish you, in the name of Corona!” “In some way, this is truly sad...regrettable...aggravating...”

Rumiko Tezuka, Tezuka’s oldest daughter and a board member at Tezuka Productions, took to Twitter, writing that the agreement to use Astro Boy was inked when there wasn’t any notion of the impending covid threat. “At that time, this [Olympics] was something everyone was looking forward to,” she wrote. The way it’s turned out now, there are pros and cons for holding the games, she added, pointing out that Astro Boy was part of the cheering squad for business reasons.

Reading the remarks of Tezuka’s daughter is a good reminder that these characters were announced as “ambassadors” for the Tokyo Olympics way back in early 2017—pre-pandemic and a million years ago.

On the Tokyo’s Olympics official page, there are licensed goods featuring the aforementioned characters as well as Goku from Dragon Ball, Luffy from One Piece, and Shin-chan from Crayon Shin-chan, among others.

The merchandise has been on sale for years, now. Some of the current unhappiness about these characters promoting the Games seems like a reflection of negative feelings in Japan about the Tokyo Olympics.

While the number of vaccinations has increased dramatically of late, hitting a million a day, there are questions over whether that’s enough to be in time for the Olympics, as covid-19 cases in Tokyo are increasing.

Public support of the Games is shifting, it seems. According to The Asahi Shimbun, one of the country’s largest newspapers, sixty percent of those the paper polled in Tokyo want the Olympics and Paralympics canceled this summer. In a Mainichi Shimbun poll, 58 percent of those in Tokyo polled were against the Games going forward. Another poll, conducted by Nikkei-TV Tokyo, shows that over half support holding the Tokyo Games. In comparison, a poll published last month showed 80 percent were against this year’s Olympics.
