New Gods November 2023 - Week 4, Day 4: Alternate Realities!

once upon a time it was said that only one version of the New Gods exist across all Earths, but its rarely reflected after that. Most of these AUs are canon, some after 1/2 canon (featuring only one of the duo), and some are my own ideas :D This december is going on three years since I got into New Gods!

2: Thorion and Bald’r the Lightbringer of the New Asgods (Amalgam Earth). Inspired by the art . 

3: Lightray and Orion as members of the Lantern corps, designed by me. In this universe, an Apokolips-raised Orion loses all sense of control when given the red ring and decimates the population of Apokolips, then turns on Atrocitus for manipulating his mind. Seeing a threat to all Lantern Corps, Lightray of New Genesis volunteers to defeat Orion and retrieve his ring. Lightray’s design is based on his formal wear from volume 3, Orion’s is based on his rebirth uniform. OK i dont know if they can work out in this one honestly i just thought it’d be cool, theoretically 

4. Lightraydactyl and Orionodon, designed by me. The JL fighting Darkseid instead of Orion is a pet peeve of mine, but Jurassic League didnt even leave room for the New Gods to exist. i love the dinosaurs comic though Lightray was pretty straightforward, Orion’s design took inspiration from Darklyoseid’s canon design by Juan Gedeon, a sabertooth tiger (for Tigra), and Orion’s main universe costume for the colours.

5. Orion and Lightray Mechs. DC Mech killed Orion off in issue one boooooo! but it did mean i didnt have to design my own for his (Lightray's is mine though). This was inspired by one of the covers for Pacific Rim, because I will be thinking about a pacrim AU for them forever now.

6. Hunter and Neon Black. These guys aren’t actually LR and Orion, just two random inmates disguised as evil versions of them iirc, but I liked Neon Black’s design.

7. Orion and Lightray, Mike Mignola’s scrapped 1990′s New Gods animated film designs.

Falacia de composición

En recuerdos me salió una imagen que hice hace tiempo acerca de que me gustaban los personajes que defienden animales en las series animadas.

Me parece que este fue un ejemplo perfecto para esta falacia debido a los comentarios. Si se fijan en la publicación hay varios hablando del veganismo que se sienten graciosos por poner el chiste de la ensalada. No me lo he tomado personal porque yo no soy vegana, respeto a quienes lo son, pero yo no practico el veganismo. Claramente las personas se enfocaron en eso son los que vieron a Lisa Simpson y asumieron que todas eran veganas y sacaron toda la negatividad que les produce el personaje de Lisa en personajes que ni siquiera conocen. Esto lo digo porque alguien llegó a decir que actualmente toda ellas son odiadas cuando muchos ni siquiera conocen a Mimi Valentine.

“Los misterios de Moville” es una serie sobre historias de terror y cosas paranormales. El único capítulo de esta serie enfocado en los animales es uno donde se habla de la responsabilidad con las mascotas. El capitulo trataba acerca de un chico que gustaba de conseguir mascotas nuevas como si fueran juguetes, descuidándolas cuando se aburría al punto de que todas perdían la vida. No se trataba sobre no consumir carne, sino que si vas a adoptar una mascota debes cuidar de ella.

Elisa de los Thornberrys lejos de enfocarse en el veganismo era una serie donde apuntaban más contra la caza furtiva. Especialmente amo la película por el mensaje de que Elisa no necesitaba de su don para hablar con los animales para hacer algo por protegerlos.

Así podría seguir hablando de porqué cada chica me gustaba desde niña por su amor a los animales, estos personajes compartían ese rasgo en común (lo dice en la propia imagen), pero varios malinterpretaron la imagen guiándose por Lisa. Esto suele suceder sea por lo positivo o lo negativo. No soy la única que hace este tipo de imágenes colocando varios personajes, series o shipps juntos, no está mal porque es desde la perspectiva de quien creó el collage, lo que está mal es ver una imagen y utilizar uno de los elementos para juzgar a todos los demás como pasó en mi imagen.

Es correcto y perfectamente válido coincidir o no con este tipo de imágenes, pero siempre viendo cada componente por separado. Incluso es mejor admitir que no pueden dar una opinión por los que no conocen en vez de meterlos a todos en la misma bolsa. Justamente como la imagen en el ejemplo; una canción puede gustarnos, pero no necesariamente amaremos todo el CD, puede que sí, pero eso sólo lo podemos saber escuchando cada canción del CD.

Bien... sé que el fandom le da a Silver (Game) un happy ending con Ethan y Lyra/Chris. Pero-pero-pero en mi caso no es así. Silver es «el príncipe fugitivo de Team Rocket» teóricamente hablando y me gusta la idea de que tenga que vivir el mismo destino que vivieron Michael D'Amico en Los Simpsons y Michael Corleone en El Padrino: Ocupar el puesto de su padre aunque no querían.

Michael D'Amico soñaba con ser chef y lo tuvo que abandonar para vengar a su padre y proteger a los Simpson. Michael Corleone contradijo las ideas de su padre y se enlistó en los Marines de EE.UU. pero acabó convirtiéndose en el Don de la familia Corleone tras el ataque a su padre. ¿No sería interesante que Silver siga el mismo patrón de las familias criminales, EL ALTO PRECIO DE SEGUIR UN LEGADO? Pero él podría actuar más como Don Vito, con un fuerte código moral que respeta, haciéndolo temido, pero admirado.

El Team Rocket bajo su mando terminaría siendo el «mal menor», una sombra negra acechante sobre otras organizaciones criminales que entren a Kanto y Johto. Algo así como «Sí, yo hago cosas malas, pero si no soy yo, serán ellos, y será mucho peor. El trabajo sucio solo me pertenece a mí».

Y así es como veo a Silver en el futuro: El mal menor de Kanto y Johto; el que es necesario, pero no querido. El que debe existir para evitar lo peor. El más fuerte de ambas regiones para saber manejarlas y no repetir los errores de Giovanni.

See..., los happy ending a este tipo de personajes no se los doy. De todas formas, Silver sabrá arreglárselas.

Se me olvidó echarle sal a las enchiladas, pero intenté disimularlo. Noté que Codelo dejaba un poco de salsa y que no limpiaba el plato con un pan como siempre hace, ni con los dedos, como se permite en los días más holgados. Tampoco dijo Delicious, tampoco comenzó a hablar como Homero Simpson cuando pronuncia “Enchilaaaada”. Entonces le confesé que sabía que le había puesto poca sal a los tomates, pero también me hice la loca y le aseguré que lo había hecho a propósito para que comiéramos más sano. “Don’t worry, amor”. Y se levantó a buscar un postre.

Hace tres noches soñé que me daba un infarto. Desperté, asustada, incapaz de gritar. Luego, en vela, me di cuenta de que no había manera de saber si en efecto había sido un sueño, dado que carezco de antecedentes de infarto. No sé cómo se siente uno. Si en el sueño me caigo, despierto y no tengo raspones. Pero, ¿un infarto? Pensé en Graciela, asegurándome que los ataques de pánico son indistinguibles de los infartos. Pensé: ¿habré tenido un ataque de pánico que mi subconsciente transformó en infarto?

Los latinoamericanos tenemos la suerte de que hay doblajes nuestros para casi todas las películas, series, dibujos animados, etc. (y es genial cuando meten chistes que solamente aparecen en el doblaje, a veces hasta nos bendicen con un personaje rioplatense!) pero en los videojuegos hasta hace poco SOLAMENTE tenías la opción de Español De España JOLINES COÑO así que siempre preferí jugarlos en inglés (y creo que eso aceleró mi aprendizaje de inglés en realidad), me parece que los nuevos salen en un castellano más neutro pero antes era insoportable, con audio o no

Igual no es cuestión de doblajes vs. subtítulos, es cuestión de quienes lo hacen, el doblaje de los Simpsons por ejemplo es maravilloso, pero he visto tantas películas que son una mierda que las tengo que ver con subtítulos sí o sí... el doblaje de Netflix es en particualr una mierda porque es totalmente muerto y seco, y no quieren ni saber lo que le hicieron al pobre Data de TNG

jack nicholson cumple 87 años

El 22 de abril lunes Jack Nicholson cumple 87 años. Un mito del cine que lleva retirado desde 2010, año del estreno de su última película, "¿Cómo sabes sí…?", comedia a mayor gloria de Reese Witherspoon que fue un gran fracaso.

También fue la última película que hicieron juntos Nicholson y el director James L. Brooks. Si Nicholson se apartó de la interpretación tras el estreno, Brooks decidió dedicar todos sus esfuerzos a "Los Simpson" (1989). Aunque Nicholson aceptó su papel después de que Bill Murray lo rechazara, lo cierto es que actor y director siempre han podido presumir de un entendimiento perfecto, una de esas parejas artísticas con excelentes resultados. De hecho, Nicholson ganó dos de sus tres Oscar por trabajos a las órdenes de Brooks (La fuerza del cariño y Mejor… Imposible).

Nicholson debutó en el cine en 1958 y tardó años en convertirse en una estrella de cine. Efectivamente, le costó mucho llegar. Exactamente 13 años, el tiempo que pasó desde su debut en la televisión hasta el estreno de "Easy Rider" en 1969, por la que consiguió la primera de sus 12 nominaciones al Oscar.

No es de extrañar que el actor recordara ese momento en el que llegó a la cima, o por lo menos a una parte de ella. Fue durante el Festival de Cannes, mientras pasaban los títulos de crédito de "Easy Rider". 

“Llevaba el tiempo suficiente trabajando como para saber, estando allí sentado entre el público, que me había convertido en una estrella de cine”.
