#house md #gregory house #prince's talk tag #after almost two weeks of going through the transcripts of every episode I finally finish this and the Wilson version #first off thank you to the clinic-duty team on livejournal for making the transcripts for these episodes #because this video would be near impossible to make without their clear transcripts. I hope y'all are doing well #ive been reading a lot of fics with these two and i see how the authors have the characters refer to each other in their fics #and that got me wondering how much do they say each other's name in the show and how do they refer to each other #since this is the house video ill put his stats here #s1 was 19 times s2 was 31 s3 was 34 s4 was 30 s5 was 35 s6 was 58 s7 was 25 and s8 was 28 #in total he says his name 260 times. Mostly refers to him just by Wilson #He's only said Wilson's first name 7 times. Once by Jim 3 by Jimmy and 3 by James #He'll use his full name in professional settings or to be sarcastic or to pretend to be him #You know since House is the main character and in every episode of the show i thought he'd say his name more than him #but Wilson beats him by 42 times bc s7 and s8 he doesn't say his name as much. it took Wilson getting cancer for him to say it more #than he was before that point

Update - uhmm wtf guys ? 😭I just woke up to this and this is the most craziest y'all have gotten with the love. Thankyou so much and I'm glad everyone is loving the BOOPSTERS. Maybe they'll be back some day or maybe you'll be treated to some new faces soon since my exams end on 23rd.

Also Seb ->I wanted to do one guy per season ( I don't consider season 5 and 6 a season and I haven't played season 7 yet). Back to why I didn't add seb, I feel like he has more of an introvert energy as compared to these guys, like he's the more kinda quite funny one, and all the LIs featured in this are the loud funny ones, so I felt that the vibe was a BIT different.

the way sam changes from the beginning of s8 to the end of s8 makes me ill.

coming off their separation, he starts out trying his best to be unapologetic abt the choices he made when dean was gone. openly calling dean out when he makes him feel like shit (“you’ve been kicking me ever since you got back, but that’s over.”) insisting that he knows he wants a clean break and that it’s not actually his Responsibility to suffer for the rest of his life. refusing to let other hunters like martin talk down to him.

and then dean’s lies and hypocrisy abt benny, and dean’s fake SOS text from amelia, and sam breaking up with amelia bc with dean back in his life he doesn’t want to hurt her with his mess, and dean’s doubt over sam’s ability to complete the trials.

which all culminates in the state he’s in by the season finale - uncaring of whether he lives or dies bc he’s always been a burden to dean anyway and maybe if he’s the one to close the gates of hell it’ll make up for everything else he’s supposedly done wrong. “these trials, they’re purifying me.” / “you think I screw up everything I try - you think I need a chaperone, remember?”

this alone:

“what happens when you’ve decided I can’t be trusted, again? I mean, who’re you gonna turn to next time, instead of me? another angel, another… another vampire? do you have any idea what it feels like to watch your brother…”

the speech dean gives sam in the church Woefully misses the mark in that it doesn’t address any of the events that pushed sam to the ledge. it doesn’t address dean’s mistreatment of sam as a partner in the slightest. empty words that sound nice on the surface, like the majority of dean’s attempts at patching them back up from s4 onwards.

#wincesties i love you on principle however most of you do this thing where you don’t acknowledge the staggering power imbalance at all #or worse: twist it in the other direction #the fans were upset whenever the boys took a break. they bought into canon’s idea that they’re better/stronger together #but post s3 that couldn’t be further from the truth lmao #spn #im writing s8 era angst rn so this post was cooking in my head #also at some point I’m going to write a thing abt how uniquely loaded the words ‘brother’ and ‘family’ are on this show

Mulder and His Nests

Mulder is a strange creature: finding joy and comfort by unnecessarily shrinking the size of every space he occupies. He clutters it up haphazardly with odds and ends, feathering the basement with X-Files and resource materials and his own bedroom with unsorted assorted junk.

In fact, he outright avoids space as much as possible--

curling up on his couch instead of putting a mattress in his bedframe

and launching face-first into burrows and ventilation shafts and buried train cars and submerged UFOs (under water or snow) and graves.

Not only does he narrow large spaces as much as possible, but Mulder also extends that closing personal bubble to Scully, standing shoulder to shoulder (or as close as he can) as often as possible while ushering her around with a hand at her back.

He has a small space he occupies; but he wants her to occupy it, too.

He truly is a strange, loveable cryptid.

Mostly refers to him just by House #the only time I've heard him say his first name its when he's being professional or when he's really angry (and that one time he proposed)#and even then it's always the full name not just the first name #the only instance I've seen him use just his first name was on that note he put on House's xmas gift that we see in season 5 #and as much as I wanted to put that moment in here he never actually says the contents of the note out loud so i had to leave it out #but what surprised me was he says House's name more than House says his name #especially when the earlier seasons didn't have him say his name as much

personal take on the hilson timeline: wilson was the one who fell first for house he just refused to examine it and decided to live with it. for him it's normal to want to leave his wife for house because house is his everything so he gives and gives and house takes and takes. this is the status quo until amber.

amber in universe is referred to as house but a girl, and it's true. amber is house but a girl and socially acceptable for wilson to pursue, and wilson could see himself building a life with amber that isn't possible with house because it's the 2000s and they're both repressed. so for the first time house sees wilson seriously fully committed to a relationship that isn't a fluke and he panics bc amber is everything he is and everything he can't be.

when amber dies it devastates wilson bc there goes his chance at being with the one woman he could've had a real, normal uncomplicated relationship with. meanwhile house is desperately trying to get his special spot in wilson's life back and decides to ditch the levels of sarcasm and irony as protection from the sincerity of his feelings for wilson (going from wilson youre so annoying i don't know why we're friends in s1-s3 to "YOU LOVE ME TOO MUCH" in fucking the first episode wilson is kind of friendly to him in season 5). there's the dynamic shift.

and it plays out like that until season 8. i 100% believe that the first time house sees wilson again after getting out of jail he realizes that he loves wilson so much and also. i think season 8 house would've been the one who could've plainly asked wilson out on a date. if it wasn't for his cancer diagnosis i think house would've tried something if he didn't get cold feet about it. yeah and in the four episodes of wilsons immediate reaction to his diagnosis house is literally making allusions to them fucking and asking if he would've been in wilsons envisioned life even if he had a wife and a family. it's giving This Is Not a Joke for Me Unless You Laugh. it's like house finally understands what he wants then the rug gets pulled out from underneath and it's gone before it even had a chance. just like Wilson! Anyways I'm autistic sk like maybe this doesn't resonate but if it doess yasss and slay

[taking you by the shoulders] game of thrones was never good, seasons 1-4 were only well-liked because they were consistently adapting book material that sometimes felt compelling when they decided not to strip it of its context or accidentally kept the significance of its original impact and themes. the show always had a problem with shock value for the sake of itself and an ultimately shallow motive that directly opposed the books themselves, which rotted the adaption's core; any enjoyable material was a fluke resulting from the efforts of good actors and book-canon, as evidenced by the sharp decrease in quality (or "quality") when the showrunners had to choose between adapting the most thematically rich moments in the series or making a mad dash to their imagined Shocking Twist finish line
