…am I too late to hop on the “Qrow adopts Cinder” train? Because I’m finally dusting that WIP off.

Something doesn’t add up...
From “Midnight”, when Hazel has been beating up Oscar and Ozpin offers to take over:
Oscar: No, it’ll be even worse. He’s holding back with me. I can tell.
Then, we get to “Ultimatum”, when Oscar is telling Yang, Jaune, Ren, and Emerald that Ozpin is back:
Oscar: I know how you feel but he saved my life. When we were tortured, he took it. So I wouldn't have to.
Is this poor writing, or is CRWBY setting something up? Because what Oscar tells Ozpin is different from what he’s telling his friends...

Bees Schnees idea for you;
Blake wears black lipstick and likes to cover Yang & Weiss in kiss marks for fun sometimes. When they have kisses all over them, Yang will teasingly call Weiss "chessboard," and Weiss will call Yang "bumble"
Tumblr media
There’s a serial kisser on the loose…hide your loved ones.
Usually I got the freezerburn kiddos bickering so enjoy some much needed softness this time <3

Midnight #8
“She was so weak. I finally realized it in that moment.
I’d let someone so weak control me for so long. I had lived in fear of someone I now held captive with just one hand.
The stranger had been right all along. And that made me angrier than anything else.
I had to make up for all the years I lost. I needed to take it all back, to burn away the shame. So I held on, until the clock struck midnight.”

It’s midnight and I haven’t shared a thought in a while so have this
Part 1, Part 2
So not me coming back from the dead just to talk about the new characters, Gidel and Fellow Honest.
Like most people, I fell in love with these two when they were finally revealed but something about their appearances reminded me of a certain duo…
And I couldn’t think of it until now: ROMAN TORCHWICK AND NEOPOLITAN‼️
This might just be my delusional ass talking but let me explain.
- Both consists of a sexy and dapper redhead with long luxurious lashes, and fights/welds a cane.
- Both also have a short sidekick that’s mute.
- Are con artists (probably some tragic backstory behind it).
- Both duo have a familial relationship with each other.
- Allude to similar fairytales, Pinocchio in this case.
- Have beef with teenagers.
I could list more but since this event literally just came out, imma have to slow my ass down 💀 Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk tho

Btw if TWST decides to do English dub, PLEASE have Fellow share the same VA as Torchwick, IM BEGGING YOU 🙏

Way back when during volume 6 I made a post during the height of Ozpin discourse wars. I said he was a great morally gray character. Now that i'm older, I've changed my mind. He's not morally gray at all! He's good! despite everything that's happened to him, he wants to help humanity not so that he can rest, but he genuinely believes in the good in every one
idk, i would still say he's morally gray but not in like oh, he's secretly Evil™ or the worse option or anything like that kind of way like
he wants to do good. by gods he wants to do good and help and try to keep everything together before it falls apart permanently, but he doesn't want to be the puppeteer controlling everything—he was the king of vale and then he changed the system and now he has one seat on the council as the headmaster instead of ruling it all—but it's a thin line to walk, and sometimes good intentions fall short or the greater good comes with a costly price (e.g. the end of the great war)
and the thing with his more shady actions is that you can still understand the why behind it; why he thinks it was necessary, why he chose the way he did, why he kept secrets, and the like. it all makes sense. like it's not so much like his own morality is gray, it's his actions at times, if that makes sense? like he knows it's fucked up and he'd rather avoid it altogether but. . . there's always the but. and he hates it.
he's a fantastic character, and i think at this point he's just trying to keep remnant from being destroyed; sure, he'd like to be rid of his own curse and not just rest but to ensure that no one else has to go through the reincarnation process ever again (how many lives has ozma changed, ruined in his mind, for a choice only he made? that would weight heavy on anyone's mind), but he can't really do that without risking the whole world, so the best he can do is to keep the relics locked up and safe.
(but for real. let him rest he's been through enough lol)

I’ve made it to Chapter 19 of @kaelidascope’s Bumbleby piece of ART, Midnight Menagerie, in 3 fucking days (fuck sleep and I am a very fast reader) And I am,,,, terrified! I am wholly shaking in my boots! I read the author’s note and promptly closed AO3 until tomorrow cause it’s 3 am and holy FUCK.
Anyways - y’all should read it but also be warned it’s a hefty fic! There are some very heavy topics going on so don’t go in blind!

Fun fact: So despite often reblogging stuff about Midnight Menagerie on my main, and now here, I'll be honest and say that I have never actually read the story.
So after seeing the new chapter drop I decided "Fuck it why not, it seemed interesting anyway so let's see the hype."
Its 5:13 in the morning. I have to wake up for work in 4 hours. I'm currently in the middle of chapter 5 and I. AM. INVESTED. HOLY FUCKING SHIT. I have so much anxiety right now it's not even funny. Like I found my self doing Yang's breathing exercise with her because goddamn this chapter is making me nervous as hell.
Anyways check out Midnight Menagerie by @kaelidascope

okay so there's a lot of things that stick out about Midnight but here's just one
when Cinder first gets to the Glass Unicorn, the shock collar is already there waiting on the counter—
Tumblr media
—so Cinder was always going to end up with it one way or another, no matter what she did
(and who knows if it was bought new? maybe she wasn't the first child slave this hotel has seen; all three Tremaines act like this is business as usual when they meet Cinder)
but Madame doesn’t put it on her right away, just gives her a list of chores and leaves the room
Tumblr media Tumblr media
now, from a Doylist perspective, I'm pretty sure it's to save time that we don't see Cinder actually having the collar put on her; they had a whole lot of shit to cram into just a few minutes and that would have been unnecessary. but, from a Watsonian perspective: why?
Tumblr media
[Has_No_Idea_What_The_Fuck_Is_Going_On_.png]
consider: Cinder literally just got here. she has no idea where anything is or how to do anything that's being demanded of her: cleaning up around a stable is a whole different ball game than being charged with the upkeep of an entire, enormous hotel at ten years old, maybe even younger depending on how much time passed between when she was first "adopted" and when she met Rhodes
there's no way she did everything perfectly, or even right, that first try (and of course her stepsisters weren't any help)
she's being immediately set up to fail, and more importantly, to be punished, to be shown exactly what her captors will do to her when they find her lacking
so: did Cinder have the shock collar put on her the first time she made a mistake, and have it framed as her own fault?
Cinder, years later, Realizing: hEY WAIT A DAMN MINUTE

Ruby: The one on the water?
Weiss: Yeah, just like always, but this time... you were there too.

For your voices au I immediately thought of the scene with Pyrrha's mom when Jaune met her in front of Pyrrha's memorial statue. Please tell me you did too.
Oh of course, of course
He’s been seeing Pyrrha for months since her death, but somehow it doesn’t really hit him until he sees the statue. With her haunting him, sometimes he forget that she was The Invincible Girl and that there’s other people who would want to honor her death
Gods her mother looks so much like her

One of the great things about finding a new show I like and hyper-fixate over is also having new comfort characters. They get to join my list of comfort characters from older shows, most of which aren't running anymore, but the characters forever have a place in my heart.

very annoying thing this fandom does is describe exactly the intended point of a given scene ("cinder was treated unjustly and failed by everyone in her life!") or character ("raven isn't The Bad One to summer's Good One, people are more complicated than that!") and then go "ugh rwby is soooo simplistic" because they cannot wrap their heads around the fact that rwby. agrees with these ideas and is in fact using characters like raven or cinder or salem to criticize black-and-white moral thinking

God, I just realized:
The Tower falling and the subsequent Flood are supposed to represent the Fall of Atlas AND the Fall of Beacon
Where he failed to save Penny and Pyrrha
