Im just thinking about how Kipperlily manufactured her own villainous origin story by getting her most loyal friend murdered and cursed as a result of her own greed for public acknowledgment and power.

Kipperlily blamed the system for her own mediocrity. She saw her peers succeed against the odds - and came to the delusional conclusion that the injustice they survived was actually a stepping stone to greatness that she didn’t get.

She wanted what they had - perceived success and accolades. But instead of seeking out opportunities for her to showcase her own skills- she decided to try and bring others down to her level by cutting them off at the knees.

So she schemed to find loopholes in the rules to make the system bias in her favor. She believed she was right and had no interest in looking for information that could prove her wrong. Because she didn’t want fairness, she wanted success.

She decided that it was unfair that her peers suffered injustice- not because they were kids who deserved better but because she felt that they were getting something special she didn’t have. Clearly a shortsighted, childish jealousy but the stupidity of it all doesn’t make the hatred less genuine or dangerous.

In contrast: Lucy Frostblade was defined by her loyalty - loyalty to her divinity, loyalty to her increasingly unhinged friend, and loyalty to her own principles.

Lucy was the one person who backed up Kipperlily’s choices, mainly as a show of support for her suffering friend. And in return Kipperlily let her friend get brutally murdered (or possibly murdered Lucy herself).

Because in the end Kipperlily was only loyal to herself and her interests. And Lucy refused to abandon her principles and her goddess in the name of her friend's greed.

Oh Shit.....

Okay so note I took during my viewing. What if the ratgrinders were possessed by rage magic. It seems like they have some sort of connection to the dead rage god, like how lucy seemingly did. What if they were possessed, killed her, and are now working with him with the promise of getting her back or something?

Point two: there was a giant near where yolanda died, that was probably what killed her. We know ruvina is a giant as well as a goddess. AND we know cassandra, a goddess, was able to be affected by the rage magic. What if RUVINA was possessed by rage magic?

god i am thinking soooo hard about how lucy and kipperlily were the closest to each other compared to with the rest of the rat grinders like. kipperlily's rage courting/being courted by ankarna, the sister goddess to ravina who was lucy's cleric diety. how we now know the way to truly convert to ankarna is to die and be resurrected in worship of her. lucy's goddess is ruvina, goddess of sorrow, and sorrow and grief are so often covered up by rage because it's easier to feel angry than hurt. i'm thinking ruvina may have protected lucy in some way during whatever happened in the mountains of chaos last year because she absolutely would have known her sister's presence - corrupted as it may be - and influence on lucy's party members, and either prevented lucy from dying in the first place or brought her back herself to keep lucy from her sister's grasp. but because of oblivati mori she wouldn't have been able to tell lucy who it was that resurrected her friends, brought them back a little different, a little more angry. and because lucy's closest friend and party leader is kipperlily, she agrees to the conversion request, because this new diety is the one that brought her friends back, even though ruben is now writing more songs about rage and hate, and ivy's jokes have dropped the pretense of friendly ribbing and are now just mean, and something in kipperlily has gone hard and flat and unyielding, they're still her friends, right? but then kipperlily says she needs to die too, and be resurrected by this nameless diety for the conversion to truly take.

and maybe lucy hesitantly says yes - despite (likely) intense warnings from ruvina - and lets her friends kill her, but then can't go with this new goddess; maybe in death she understands the scope of what her friends are trying to do and refuses ankarna's call, or maybe ruvina refuses to let her sister corrupt her kind-hearted, sorrowful, hopeful cleric (don't sisters just fucking always know where to hit you so it hurts the most; and after a millennia of being dead wouldn't it just burn that your own sister is getting in the way of your resurrection; their fight is what causes the destruction of the forest where lucy's body was found - a battle of giants)

or maybe lucy - steadfast in her conviction to ruvina - says no to kipperlily's plan and withdraws her conversion request, and then watches as kipperlily - blinded by rage, ankarna whispering in her head of vengeance and retribution - gives the order to kill her anyways because she'll either end up coming back on their side or being unable to spill their secrets, and besides, she's already thinking of a potential new cleric they can try again with (helioic of course, because that guy's a fucking loser and wouldn't notice the corruption of his followers if they set his stupid robes on fire)

either way, lucy's dead now, and ruvina has lost a cleric, and ankarna has her resurrection all lined up

Brennan: "Well, gang, at Mordred Manor, you see a pile of arcane tomes and other things that were saved by Lydia's old adventuring party, and the first thing that sort of occurs to you is that they are written in Giant, as Lydia says,"

Lydia: "Well, this is everything they had. You know, I can try to help you... I wasn't necessarily the most on the ball with this stuff during the adventure, but I remember a lot of conversations about it. So, you know, if there's anything I can do to help."

Siobhan: "I can cast Comprehend Languages as a ritual, and as long as I'm touching the text, I can read it."

Brennan: "Amazing. Adaine, you guys can grab this stuff. You can probably move it up to your little wizard's tower at Mordred and start putting the stuff out. You have your ritual circle all set up there."

Ally: "Before we leave Lydia, can I ask her if she's heard of Ruvina, the god that Lucy was following?"

Lydia: "Ruvina. Yeah. Yeah, that name did come up-"

Kristen: "Yeah."

Lydia: "-in the adventure at some... It wasn't like a big... I'm sorry, this is the kind of... This is why I wish I was more on the ball with this stuff."

Kristen: "Oh, No, it was a long time ago. They're just a god from the Mountains of Chaos, and-"

Lydia: "That's what I think it was. It's like- That name came up, not as a point of focus, but it's from the same region that Bakur's deity, I think-"

Riz: "Was from."

Lydia: "From, yeah."

Kristen: "Okay, well... Yeah."

Riz: "Okay, so rival gods, maybe?"

Kristen: "Let's take a look."

Fig: "Mountains of Chaos."

Riz: "Mountains of Chaos. Okay. Thank you, Lydia."
