UPDATE 2024

Hi everybody!!! How are you all? It's a new year, new-ish Rose! By that, I mean I've come up with a new strategy to keep me from being burnt out, but to also fulfill requests from you all! So! Starting tomorrow, I will open requests for one day, and, depending on how many get sent in, I'll do those then open requests again next month, and continue on like that.

Getting new requests every day apparently short-circuited my brain and caused me to overthink every idea and not be able to write any idea. Who knew?

So this is what we're going to try! And as far as kofi goes, I'm going to leave it closed for now, because I don't feel like I am up to my usual standard yet and I don't want anyone to pay for subpar work.

Thank you to everyone who has stuck by me through the past year, I know it's been rough and uncertain, but I promise I love you all and I can't wait to see how this year goes!

Update

Hello, everyone!!

I have been practically nonexistent on this platform because of personal obligations, so my sincerest apologies. However, during this time, I have done some serious thinking in terms of how to better myself and my mental health. That being said, I am going to be leaving tumblr indefinitely. I don’t think a hiatus would be the proper word, as not only has there been a lack of inspiration, but also a lack of motivation to write as a whole. I’ve already had been in a negative headspace, especially when there’s a lack of interaction between reader to writer on here. Moreover, the more I have stepped back from Tumblr, a shift in priorities have occurred and now there are more ways in which I want to achieve the highest and best version of myself. My work will still be up for your perusal, and I really thank you all for being a reader, a fellow writer, and even as far as being a mutual. Thank you all again!

The Time My Grandmother was more aware then my Mother and Sister

So I grew up with this girl, we were only eight months apart in age. We grew up together. Nearly every day was spent together due to the fact that my mother was an at home daycare and was best friends with this girl’s mother.

So we became friends. Obviously you spend enough time around someone and you start becoming friends.

Then this girl got a little sister around the time I got a little sister so they became friends. This just made our two families closer. We went camping together, had BBq’s together, spent nights over at each other houses for days on end.

Now I was not a very confident child growing up. I was overweight and had undiagnosed mental issues such as depression and anxiety (PS my parents don’t ‘Believe’ that mental illness is a thing so that is a whole ‘nother box of worms)

This girl, we shall call her K, was very confident, super skinny and she cried when she realized that she was no longer a size 00 in pants. She always cracked jokes at me and my weight. She would crack jokes about my last name (hint it’s not a common last name and i’ve been bullied for it growing up so now im desensitized but as a kid I was super insecure about it)

So K and I grew up together. On her 17th birthday I was invited like normal. But when I got there I was shoved towards this other girl who was chubbier like me. And K straight up told me that the only reason I was invited was because we grew up together and it would look odd to her mother if I wasn’t but she didn’t want to hang out with me so she invited this other girl from school who she thought I would have ‘common interests’ with. She then left to go to the mall with her other ‘skinny’ friends.

That was the first major hint that something wasn’t right with our friendship.

The next major hint was on my 18th birthday. My parents through a surprise party for me a few days before my actual birthday. I am a football fan to my states team and they were playing that day so my parents planned the party so that we could all watch the game together. i was happy. Then K and one of my other friends stayed up in my bedroom. I went up and down the stairs, back and forth between commercials because they were my friends and I wanted to hang out with them at my party but knew they weren’t big football fans.

But I thought we were all having fun. So imagine my surprise when I see them trying to sneak out. I go outside and find both of them getting into K’s car. I ask what’s going on, where are they going. They stutter and finally say that they were going to K’s house to have a sleepover and that they “Were going to text you late to let you know and invite you but we didn’t want to interrupt your party”. Like... what?

I was hurt and went back inside crying cause I knew that they were never going to text me. They were just planning on leaving. My aunt ran out screaming at them which mortified me more and my party was ruined.

After that. K and I drifted apart. Went on with our lives and only really saw each pother at holidays and when she chose to come camping with her family (which wasn’t often she turned into a drug and drinking party girl)

And now she has kids and she is getting married in a few weeks. When she first announced her wedding, my first thought was that I probs was only going to be invited because of my family.

She’s getting married at a camping site that has a great hiking trail and some awesome spots for photos so when my mother told me that I could come just to camp because she knew me and K weren’t “As close as you were as children”

Then my little sister was talking about her upcoming wedding and when she mentioned K’s I said, “Oh yeah I’m not going I’m gonna be hiking”

My mother and sister both looked at me and said “What? You can come to the wedding and hike later” “Why would you be hiking” “She’s your best friend that’s rude” “I can’t believe you are still holding a grudge against her but not your other friend” and other things along that line of thinking.

I got offended and defensive, “You know me and K aren’t friends anymore. We drifted apart and don’t have anything in common anymore.”

They obviously didn’t want to hear it.

Then I went to my grandma’s to help her out around her house like I do sometimes.

We end up talking for hours on these days after i’m done helping her. Talking about anything and everything.

So of course I spill about what happened and what my mother and sister said about K and I’s ‘friendship’

Here’s what my grandma had to say:

I never did like that girl. The way she treated you was just wrong. it was abusive and bullying and the fact that your mother never saw it always got me wondering.

... abusive? I knew bullying but abusive? And then it hit me. All the demeaning jokes even when we were kids, the birthdays... bullying yes.... but also emotionally and manipulatively abusive.

Why was it my grandmother who saw this and pointed it out and not my mother and sister who I live with?

Why did it take me 25 years to realize that what we had was toxic and was never really friendship?

And why were my parents still putting me in situations where I had to be happy for my bully/abuser?

A whole emotional roller coaster all because my grandma was more aware then my parents and siblings
