Found this old question in my inbox today from an ask game months ago and just... felt compelled to channel Ronnie today

"I would want people to know... to know that he's just a kid." Ronnie sits back, latte in hands, a lipstick mark at the edge of the lid. Her eyes move over the inside of the coffee shop before coming back to yours. "You know? When people learn he's autistic, they treat him like an infant or like we're living in Rain Man, and it pisses me off. Tristan's not a baby - he's almost fifteen! He's a teenager! He rolls his eyes and sulks in his room when he's mad at me and hangs out with Aki and the other gymnastics kids until the wee hours of the morning. He makes himself breakfast! He does all the same shit every other kid his age does!"

She sighs, taking a sip.

"They hear he's autistic and people say things like, oh, that's why he's so good at gymnastics, the savant thing - and excuse you, Brenda, because no that is not 'why'. Not every autistic kid is a savant. Tristan works his ass off. Just like every other kid on his team, he loves the sport and he works like hell to be good at it. Yeah, he stims after a good routine or if he has struggles that get him frustrated, but that is just how his brain gets out the happiness or the stress! It's normal!"

She rubs at her temples.

"I'm not saying savants aren't out there, of course they are, but there's this stereotype that just clings and clings and I know it hurts when he hears people talk about him like that. I know it does - because he works so hard and people discount all that work. It's another way they treat him like something other than human, but because it's seen as a 'good' dehumanization, he isn't supposed to get mad about it? He's supposed to be grateful that they tell him he's not like other kids with autism? Fuck that. He is like other autistic kids, and you know why? Because he's autistic! And he's allowed to get angry when people act like that gives them a license to pretend he's not right there hearing them talk about him! To anger is human. He deserves that anger. You know? He deserves to get to be mad as a hornet at people who treat him like he's doing an amusing trick. My son is an athlete, and he deserves to be treated - and respected - like one. No, he deserves to be respected just for being human and living in a world that wasn't designed for him in the first place."

There's another pause. She taps her fingers on the side of her cup.

"People treat him, sometimes, like he doesn't hear them, or he can't. And I do my absolute best to burn those shit assumptions to the ground, to teach him to speak up for himself, to be exactly who he is and to love that person as much as I love him... I just have to hope I've taught him well enough. I guess I got off track, huh?" She laughs. "I guess... I just want everyone to know Tristan is the hardest-working person I know, and he's not even fifteen years old. And that he's just the embodiment of joy. And that nothing on earth has been as amazing as being his mother."

Determined to snag a bite...

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, figure I show some love for Ronny.

Ronny is a schizophrenic deckrunner living on the streets. Majority of the time, she dumpster dives in search for food or loots food off of dead bodies since there's been a major crackdown on hacking vending machines. However, there have been moments where she has gone to the extreme of stealing food from street vendors or shops and running to avoid getting shot. She does see, hear, and even feel things that aren't there. Moreover, interact with them where many of the civilians find her to be "a nut case".

Unfortunately in a dystopian world like Ronny's, mental health resources are extremely scarce, especially in her status. For the cyberpunk novel I am writing, the message behind the story is to bring mental health awareness into the light, especially where in today's society where mental health a lot of times is being swept under the rug. :3

No, but Autistic Eddie, who gets turned into a vampire and all of his senses are heightened. God, that would be hell for me. But I like to think that Steve finds a way to help, which includes playing sounds that hit Eddie's ears just right. It does include heavy metal music, but that's okay, too. Along with his heightened senses comes his heightened emotions. Steve’s there for that, too. He becomes his calm in the storm, his anchor. very long oc + worldbuilding talk bc im bored

noam: mentioned him in the 'give me your jewish ocs' post. he can use the senses of anyone who perceives him à la mama mathers but can't hijack them the same way. he also can't block them out, which is a nightmare for an autistic kid. he's not super friendly because of this.

ronnie: obsessed with all things 80s. it is her raisin detre. massive people pleaser to the point where she has a very fragile sense of identity. her power is being able to alter her own biology (think amy dallon <3) which she mostly uses to change her own appearance, and for a while she literally cannot control it--she will spontaneously alter herself to look like what she thinks someone wants her to look like

bee: adopted by doomsday preppers at a young age. she's good at survival stuff but not so much with people and has spent her whole life in a constant state of stress. she could use a comfy blanket and some hot chocolate methinks. i don't have a good power for her yet sadly

the idea is like. entity gets bored and starts fucking with people, giving them small glimpses of its cosmic knowledge. in trying to find the perfect balance between 'alerting people to its existence' and 'driving them to instantly have a heart attack from the stress' it creates a hierarchy of 'messengers'. think, like, angels in christianity (sorry jews idk what we have going on with angels). the more insane enlightened ones have more direct communication with it because their brains have been rewired to such an extent that they can understand each other better. they also have more powers and are less involved with earthly affairs, while the more normal messengers send information up the ladder while dealing with humans. a cult forms around them and society everywhere just Shifts to be based around them because of the amount of power they have but it also starts falling apart.

my beautiful main characters who i love dearly get involved with the cult and become part of a program where the entity experiments with giving people new powers. it can do some that are in the basic messenger package (limited flight, glowing, telepathy) but it wants to figure out more. my darling mcs are relative successes and shenanigans ensue

the powers are basically designed to make them dependent on the cult, where higher ups can limit/disable their powers and guide them on how to use them. they are purposefully meant to be awful to have.

Ok well since this is the second ask, and since I need to get these out my head, here’s some headcanons!

• Has very cold hands, even when he’s sitting in the desert all day, due to poor circulation

• Has had cataracts since birth (i also like to imagine his eyes look tiny through his glasses because of that)

• Only likes to sleep on his back, he gets overstimulated if he doesn’t

• Is autistic and had OCD (personal analysis ofc)

• Before he deserted the Enclave, I like to imagine he was in military medical training

• And because of that, spent a while in military service (definitely did gay shit)

• Bad at keeping relationships

• Plenty of gray hairs from stress and age

• Loves reading gothic literature

• Veronica likes to call him “Izzy” (Arcade both hates and loves it)

• Father-Daughter relationship with Ronnie, helps her learn more about the followers and constantly trying to explain medicine to her

• Always wanted children, but sadly cant because you know… gae

• Since he cant have kids, Veronica means a lot to him and is trying his best to do anything he can for her

Cisco Ramon and Caitlin Snow from DC's The Flash are both autistic. I'm only in Season 1, but here is what I've picked up so far.

Cisco:

-Is incredibly intelligent, a stereotypical nerdy gifted kid.

-Obvious special interest in engineering, he's very attached to his creations. ([Barry: When are we going to start calling it my suit?] "I'd be comfortable calling it our suit.")

-He's also very into superheroes, and on the flip side, loves naming the various villains/metahumans the team comes across.

-Struggles with social cues and is noticeably more awkward than other characters when interacting with people

-He wears very similar clothes every day, almost always a graphic T-shirt with a hoodie/second layer

-Stims a lot, normally by spinning in his chair and/or fidgeting with something

Caitlin:

-Is also incredibly intelligent and stereotypically nerdy like Cisco

-Again, like Cisco, special interest in her line of work (biology)

-Barry says he can easily tell when she's upset/bothered because she bites her lower lip

-Has been shown on numerous accounts to react very badly to change (struggling to accept that Ronnie is gone and she needs to move on even a year after his death, not wanting to leave Central City because it's where everything she knows is, being unable to process that Wells/Thawne is a bad person because he's been such a mentor to her)

-Has a routine, which she describes to Barry after trying to confront the fact that Cisco said she "doesn't have a life" ("I cook, and I eat, and I read, and I help you"); she doesn't seem to do much outside of work

-She has social issues, but they aren't as noticeable as Cisco's; She can sometimes be blunt or speak too formally, for example, referring to a brain freeze using its scientific term "trigeminal headache"

-Is more prone to (somewhat irrational) anxiety than the rest of the team

-Also wears very similar clothes every day

They're pretty much DCTV's version of Leo Fitz and Jemma Simmons from Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., both of whom are widely accepted as heavily autistic-coded characters.

I write a lot of fanfiction, specializing--I may as well cop to this, I think it's been the case since I was in college--in what we'll call eroticized power dynamics. You can find me on AO3. Below the cut, I'd like to highlight a few of the fics or fic series that I'm proudest of for each fandom.

Tears of the Kingdom

Questions of Kingship: Two PWP one-shots followed by a multichapter plotted work. Elements of dubcon and noncon throughout. Recommended if you like made-up politics, think TOTK maybe should have thought a little harder about the implications of its made-up politics, or just want to see two horrible men who hate each other fuck about it.

Following Ganondorf's oath of fealty to Hyrule, Rauru "invites" the Gerudo chief to stay at Hyrule Castle while Gerudo's subsumption into Hyrule is negotiated. It's a strategic action; Rauru does need to keep an eye on him. But his frustration with Ganondorf's false humility hides a desire that even he is not comfortable with, and Ganondorf has his own plans for the self-styled king of Hyrule.

Hades

Hello it is I a megzag main. reach out and grasp will be your best starting point. It focuses on Megaera's friendship with Thanatos and how it is affected by her (and Thanatos's) relationship with Zagreus. This series is available as a pay-what-you-want e-book at itch.io. Transistor

Not so much of the power dynamics in this fandom but I love Red/Boxer so much. I am not immune to a sword with a gentle voice. Here's the two of the on the verge of becoming a couple; here's what was as far as I can tell the first Red/Boxer smut on the entire internet even though I showed up three years late. Here is a post-game fic in which they finally must discuss the final act of the game.

Baccano!

Maskmaker trio my beloved. I've written over 100k across two separate "Monica is alive" AUs and my sole comfort is that I could never be as obsessed with this thought as Huey is.

Mad Religion is a one of my masterworks: set in the 2001 of an AU where Monica never died, Huey and Monica stumble upon a branch of SAMPLE only to discover that Elmer has already stumbled upon the cult on his own and is trying to make their sacrifice smile. Because that's what he's for--isn't it? If you like writing dealing with unnamed religious trauma, this one is for you.

Other than that--wow I cannot even begin to summarize my work in this fandom. Here's Ronny and Maiza getting to know each other in 1711. Here's Huey being the worst father imaginable to Liza. Here's a lil tone poem of Huey thinking on Monica and Elmer in the 1930s. Conversely here is Fermet leaning real hard on Huey's boundaries. There's more out there, my friends, but it's so scattered. I'm not even mentioning Ronny/Lucrezia here.

Soul Eater

Hello it is I a Medusa/Stein main. And also a "Stein's relationship with Lord Death/authority" main (I was working through some things at the time).
