when a powerful figure is reduced to kneeling. when the lord is forced to bow. when the exile stumbles into an unwelcoming bar. when the “beast” is chained by their horns. when a god is dragged behind their enemy’s chariot, a captive and trophy. when the loyal “guard dog” character is muzzled and the silver-tongued thief falls silent in horror.
that’s the shit
it’s about the contrapasso. the reversal of roles and the sudden, plunging terror of being unable to hide.

A hiker, clearly shaken, enters a remote English village pub, his clothes all torn and he's full of scratches.
"You won't believe this," he says to the bartender. "I was attacked by a leopard!"
"Really?"
"Yes! A leopard! In England!" The hiker sits down and orders the strongest liquor they've got. "I tried to run, but it was if course much faster than me."
The hiker gets his glass, empties it, and asks for another. "It sent me to the ground with a mighty push from its paws, but weirdly enough it then just gave me a really sad look and left."
"Ah, you met Father Andrews," the bartender says, matter-of-factly.
"What do you mean?" asks the tourist, confused.
"Father Andrews was our priest. A truly kind-hearted man, loved by all. His only goal in life was to serve his congregation as well as he could. So when he one day found a lamp with a genie, his very first wish was to be a loving shepherd to the community."
"That's nice "
"Absolutely, if only he hadn't been so prone to spoonerisms."

I love your ganauru fics. You're so talented.
Is always a pleasure to read you.🌷
Thank you so much 🥹 I love your art as well, so many ways for those two to stare meaningfully at each other in ways they probably shouldn’t

Instead of apologizing for liking "trashy" media, consider: what is it doing well? If you like it, if it's making you feel pleasure and interest, then it must be succeeding at something. Is it shaping a set of emotional beats that you find satisfying to watch play out? Did it craft a character you find really compelling? Is something in the styling and aesthetics speaking to you? Did it unexpectedly resonate with a mood or experience you needed to see reflected right then?
However shallow or flawed a piece of media is, if you like it, it's because of something it did well - at least well enough to affect you, on the day that you encountered it.
There are a lot of good reasons to acknowledge this. One is about gratitude and manners: someone worked hard on that thing, and if they provided something that gave you happiness and pleasure, it's nice to honor that. Another is about breaking down the insidious habit of sorting everything into simple good/bad boxes. A piece of media, like a person, can do a lot of things wrong and a lot of things right, and the things on one side do not magically erase the other.
But the most important reason, I believe, is to get in the habit of celebrating what brings you pleasure and happiness. All your life there have been and there will be people telling you that you find joy in the wrong things, that if a particular thing makes you feel good it shows that there's something wrong with you. I reject that utterly. If a particular thing makes you feel good then there's something right, about you and about that thing. I'm not saying that pleasure is the only important thing or that every pleasure should be indulged indiscriminately. All I'm saying is that pleasure is in and of itself a good thing, and deserves notice.

Hello! I'm a big fan of your “both Kings” series. You're currently my favourite author. I love the insight you give to both Ganondorf and Rauru. You're really incredible. I don't know If you have been asked this before, but, do you think that they had something even before the foundation of Hyrule? As a lot of people see them as spiteful exes. Maybe Rauru met Ganondorf in a visit to the desert and they had something like a "summer romance". I think that would be kinda cute, a little glimpse of light in their destructive situationship if you will, maybe a time they both remember with some nostalgia.
Thank you so much, that's so kind of you to say 😭 They are just such perfect foils for each other, I've really enjoyed spending time with them and I'm so grateful for you and everyone who's spent time with my versions of them.
I have actually talked about this a bit before! Exes really is an intriguing take on them, and absolutely one the game would support inasmuch as it supports any kind of relationship between them other than "political nemeses," but I had wandered too far away from that idea to reverse course before I realized that it was so popular. And, honestly, it's not quite as suited to the story I want to tell about them. In addition to what I said in that other post, I think if I were telling the story of exes, I'd be telling a story where the tragedy or at least the tension comes from their differences: once, we had something in common, but we were driven too far apart, and even as we loathe each other we mourn what we once shared. But I'm more interested in tension that comes from their similarities, and I feel like what works a little better starting from a place of antagonism. We thought we were mortal enemies with nothing in common so why do our thought processes keep getting stuck on each other, why do we keep getting stuck on each other? If we are mortal enemies why do I feel like you're my equal?
Which isn't to say that a writer couldn't make that work! But it's not what I feel drawn to examining.

I loved your new one-shot. I love how you write from Ganondorf's perspective. I didn't know that your headcanon was that Ganondorf is gay. That's very interesting. Do you think he would be able to really fall in love with a voe? Maybe not Rauru, but someone else.
Thank you!! Yeah, I've been kind of... not resisting it, but wary of fully committing to the headcanon because like. That's a guy who's existed for almost thirty years. There's so much of him out there. But sometimes I just get very firm very specific sexuality headcanons for characters and Ganondorf TOTK is one of them, and I think it boils down to reading him as so full of dissatisfaction. So lost in wanting what he can't have that even some of the wanting has crusted over.
Which is part of why I have a hard time seeing him fall in love with a voe. Well, that and... you know how any Gerudo vai you meet seems convinced she's going to find a tall, strong voe to be her true love? While universally being taller than all the Hylian voe out there and stronger than the vast majority of them? Yeah, I think broadly speaking Hylian voe are not up to Gerudo standards--Ganondorf's included. (I can't be the only person who finished up Tarrey Town with the queasy sensation that Rhondson was settling for Hudson, right? Like that was the vibe? This does not make me happy.)
Maybe he could find a nice strong Zora to fall for? In. an entirely different political situation than the one he's dealing with which also makes him an entirely different person. idk, anon, Ganondorf as I write him at least is just so unhappy, so very, very far down along the path of being utterly and destructively wrong about what makes him as a person worthy of existence and respect, that he lacks the capacity for trust and the inclination for love. I don't think there is any circumstance under which I could imagine that Ganondorf falling in love.

You know what they should’ve done if they were really committed to this idea that abandoned mine locations reflect major surface settlement locations. They should’ve put abandoned mines at some of the locations destroyed by the Calamity. Tabantha Abandoned Mine. Shadow Abandoned Mine. I was gonna say Deya Abandoned Mine but the Deya Village Ruins are too wet for that. But my point stands. I just think that would be eerie.

Ghost Trick is so funny because it's one of those games where people keep telling you to play it and after a while you start getting curious so you go "whatever" and try it
Then you're playing it and the thing happens which leads to the thing and ultimately gets you to THE thing and then you finish it and are like "I have to tell people"
So you go on social media to post about how this was a downright mindblowing experience but are like "Oh no what do I say to not reveale too much?"
You then type "Play Ghost Trick" and hit post like some sort of drone and you are 100% right to do so
Anyway play Ghost Trick

Being nearsighted makes sense to me, it’s like having a render distance. The concept that some people are farsighted scares me, what do you mean you can’t see things the closer they are to you

[ID: The text in all caps, “I may not have worded it the best, but here’s my thought, feeling, opinion.” The words “thought , feeling, opinion” are bigger than the rest, and a simplistic digital painting of a white cartoon cat is kneeling and gesturing towards those words specifically. The image is also watermarked with “catcrumb.”]
