Marzipan [coarse] Review
It’s been so long since I’ve done of these, huh? I really...have no excuse other than the fact I lost most of my desire and drive to make art/covers/UTAU content/etc from 2022-2023. It’s very, very slowly coming back but I can’t really promise the next review will come soon. Regardless, I’ve still been hanging out and just posting whatever UTAU things I find lately. Wait, what was I writing about? Chocolate? Cream? hmm....maybe eating this jar of almonds will help me....
This review was requested by Utaeru.

Listen To A Sample Of Marzipan
Bio
Name: Marzipan (マルチパン) Age: 19 Gender: male Favorite food: Marzipanstollen (german christmas cake) Likes: reading, winter, sleeping Dislikes: coffee Marzipan is a slow and easy-going natural science student. He has a tendency to become hyper when singing or standing up for what he loves, but is quickly worn out when that happens.
Official Site
Marzipan has a website on Weebly. coarse is 117 MB when unzipped and comes with fully generated FRQs as well as some PMK files.
First Impressions
Marzipan has a deep, resonant, soulful baritone voice. With his husky and rough vocals, Marzipan fills a pretty unique niche and is pretty well made to boot.
Configuration
The initial Marzipan voicebank is a CVVC recorded at G#3, D#3, and A#2. Any note above F4 sounds strained by default, which can provide a more realistic flavor, but lowering the octave of USTs is a safe bet and at times needed. He comes with vocal fry, end breaths and inhales, and l/ng samples. Nothing in the oto is really out of the ordinary for a CVVC, but manually adjusting the length of VC notes might be needed if you use autoCVVC to convert. Otherwise, the consonants will last a little too long. Or you could keep it that way for a cute accent. ^^ I did find one mistake, where “mo” was aliased as め. An easy fix, but I was pretty lost by that. But some of my old banks have mistakes like that as well, so I can’t be on a high horse. The exhale breaths sound especially amazing, even if they’re a little loud. As for overall sound, Marzipan sounds a bit like he was recorded in a bedroom with an open door, the background noise gets picked up by most resamplers and makes him sound uncanny. This is regular for most UTAU banks, but any form of noise isolation would help a lot, even just recording under a desk. Because marzipan is CVVC, using him for English sounds pretty solid. Having L sounds helps a lot with that. The glottal stop endings are a little too long and sound almost like vocal fry. I’m also so used to glottal stops in UTAU using hiragana I got bamboozled by his using English letters. His vocal fry is on point too, my favorite thing is overusing it in the end breaths.
My recommended flags: F0Y99C10E20
My recommended resamplers: TIPS, vs4u, doppeltler
Final Thoughts
Marzipan is a great first UTAU attempt, very solid and decently unique. Baritone enjoyers will like him a lot. 4 cakes out of 5.

A Quick One Before the Eternal Worm Devours Connecticut, thoughts

A Quick One Before the Eternal Worm Devours Connecticut by Have A Nice Life from the deathconsciousness album, 2008
*scroll down for spotify link to song
This is not incredibly detailed, a quick review
This is a requested review from @ka0mojiz
——————————-
I will say that I absolutely loved this song. An instrumental piece that begins with a floating sound that feels outer space looming over, and coming closer to you, while you stand in awe of its magnificence. A guitar, from what I can tell, a classical one, then plays an eerie yet nostalgic riff that, following the outer space theme, feels like space has taken you and you are now floating with it. the song achieves an emotional detachment, a liminality that feels like retrospectively looking back at a lost childhood down a corridor. Throughout the song, a “wind howling” sound that in context ends up sounding more like a space vortex that takes all underscores the piece, producing a feeling of blackhole-like emptiness. One can only imagine oblivion approaching, or you are already in, as you orbit within the dark vastness of space. A harsh, alien like synth-piano begins spearing into the track which feels like space focusing on and the track takes a turn —the nostalgic detachment is gone and is replaced by ominous dread. The track ends on a sound, feeling like a “spiral through space”.
overall, the song captures an emptiness and a loneliness. the vastness and oblivion can be felt through the spacey background sound, but the sharp emotion of blue nostalgia can be felt through the guitar. its title achieves a feeling of emptiness too, “devouring”, but places the location on earth instead of somewhere unknown to human civilisation, such as outer space. it allows us to capture those other-worldly moments on our earth, and ponder its alienation yet interlinked nature to the human experience. The song is 7:52, long enough for you to dissolve yourself in the feeling as it progresses. it’s a perfect listen for those who want to tune out the world for just a moment.

Azalin Reviews: Darklord Flimira Vhage
Darklord: Flimira ‘Flintlock’ Vhage Domain: Vhage Agency Power Level:  💀 ⚫ ⚫ ⚫ ⚫ (1/5 Skulls) Source: van Richten’s Guide to Ravenloft (5e)
The Vhage Agency is made up of a single, dull gray room, which resides entirely within the recesses of Flimira “Flintlock” Vhage’s own dull, gray mind.  Flimira is the Darklord of her own mind, though we are given precious few details about her past that resulted in her current torment.
According to the ‘good’ doctor, Flimira was once a detective who eventually became a criminal. Now she is cursed to receive requests to investigate occult mysteries through the Domains of Dread. Mysteries, she herself had a hand in creating. Still, she must dispatch detectives to clean up her own messes, ever hopeful that none of them will discover that she is, in one way or another, connected to every single case that comes their way.
Van Richten gives us no further details on Flimira and her Domain. If this report had come from my little scholar, I would have been severely disappointed as I am reduced to conjecture. Perhaps van Richten was attempting to be poetic and one must use deductive reasoning, much like a detective, to determine Flimira’s descent in her status as a Darklord?
The obvious conclusion one may draw from the scrapes of information provided is that Flimira was once a detective and through her work she made natural ties to the criminal elements she investigated. The nickname “Flintlock” gives the impressive of a hard and sturdy individual who does not open up to others easily. Perhaps years of detective work required her to keep far too many secrets and eventually she broke down, joining the criminal underground instead of working against it.
One potential course of events is that Flimira was much like Sherlock Holmes of the prime material plain and, working as a private investigator in a city, was relied upon by everyone to solve seemingly unsolvable cases using her keen intellect and deductive reasoning. Becoming famous for her ability to solve even the most baffling of mysteries, Flimira only accepted cases that she considered to be challenging. Through these cases she grew fascinated with the criminal elements behind them.
In time the puzzle of solving cases was not enough to keep her ever-churning mind satisfied and she began to orchestrate complex crimes of her own. Crimes, she felt with extreme arrogance, no one would ever solve. Naturally, these crimes of her own creations came back to her in the form of pleas for assistance. For who else could solve such crimes? Her protégée, Alanik Ray? Certainly not.
In order to cover her own tracks, Flimira was forced to investigate herself, which drove her calculating mind into a pit of despair. There is, after all, no challenge in discovering an answer to a question one already knows. So, Flimira retired, closing the door of her detective agency and fully throwing herself into the shady criminal underground.
Eventually, with the assistance of Alanik Ray, the local authorities discovered Flimira’s influence throughout the city. Disbelieving the possibility of someone beating her at her own game, Flimira convinced herself it was impossible and through use of hypnosis, convinced all of her former allies of the same. And as the last individual’s mind was altered by our former detective, the Mists came for her, pulling her into her own mind.
In the demiplanes of dreads, Flimira likely has the innate ability to cast ‘modify memories’ in order to keep her secrets and…in order to ensure that she must constantly send out others to investigate her own folly.
With this potential background, Flimira could originally be from London in the Gothic Earth setting or perhaps even a city in Darkon, Dementlieu, or Richemulot.

Proposing some intersex gender modality & transition terms
So there are a whole bunch of different ways that intersex people can be/identify as trans. I've been thinking about what names would be useful for articulating these differences and in this post I'll list what I've got so far. 🧑‍🔬
I'm hoping to get feedback on these, so if you have feedback let me know! 💛 I expect to edit this post, to incorporate feedback and further ideas.
CW: mention of IGM and forced HRT
Types of transitions
Distransition: a medical transition forced upon an intersex person, such as through IGM or forced HRT. Dis- to indicate the negative aspect of the transition being coercive, as well as to connote disability since this process is so frequently traumatic and/or disability-causing. In disability studies language it's a form of debility (disability caused through systemic violence).
Mistransition: a distransition (forced transition) that is not in alignment with a person's gender identity. Mis- to indicate the incorrectness of the alignment as well as to maintain a negative connotation because this is a coercive transition.
Entransition: a consensual transition done by an intersex person. Contrast to distransition. En- acts as an opposite to dis- and also to me indicates a level of intent (e.g. envision, enact, enliven). It also serves to indicate that transition is different for intersex bodies than for perisex bodies.
Retransition: an entransition done by an intersex person who previously had been distransitioned. I.e. when an intersex person does a second transition to undo, alter, or improve a forced transition. Re- to indicate a second transition, but also that it's a revision of the first one. EDIT #1: This term is not intersex exclusive, and may also be used by perisex trans people who have transitioned multiple times. EDIT #2: For an intersex-exclusive version, I suggest "re-entransition", combining re- and en-.
Retrotransition: a retransition that is done to undo the effects of forced transition. So an intersex person who, after being forced into a binary gender, then transitions their body towards a best approximation of what their body's natural state would have been without forced transition. Retro- for backwards to indicate undoing that is worth differentiating from detransitioning.
Laterotransition: a retransition done by an intersex person to a gender that is neither the gender externally imposed by a distransition nor what their body's "natural state" would be. For example, an AFAB AIS person who was coercively transitioned female, who then later transitioned male. Latero- as contrast to retro- (latero- is to the side, antero- is forward) as well as to indicate the turn away from the path set forth externally by parents/doctors.
Anterotransition: a retransition done by an intersex person that continues the direction set forth by previous forced transition. So additional transitioning done by somebody whose gender is in alignment with what was externally imposed. While this will probably be somebody's AGAB, it doesn't have to be - some times intersex people are forcibly transitioned to a different gender than their AGAB.
All of these transitions would have an analogous gender modality. So an entransgender person is somebody who has/is undergoing/intends to entransition. And a retrotransgender person likewise has/is undergoing/intends to retrotransition.
I see distransition and mistransition as potentially useful for intersex people talking about trauma and structural intersexism. I think entransition might be useful for talking about how being intersex and transitioning is frequently different than for perisex people, especially if it is a retransition. And perhaps distransition and anterotransition may be of use to exparium folks.
Personally: I was distransitioned as an adolescent and have recently started a process of medically retrotransitioning.
Feedback welcome! A list of revisions will go at the bottom of this post. Will make flags for terms once I feel satisfied with them.
Edits
2024-01-16: I've been informed by @chipbutbetter that retrans is already used by some perisex folks with complicated transition patterns, so I have edited to say this term should not be intersex exclusive. Thanks! 🏳️‍⚧️
2024-01-16: thought about an intersex-specific version of retransition and landed on "re-entransition". A little awkward but combines both retransition and entransition! Flexible on whether to include a hyphen (reentransition).

The cock ring drabble made me ooof
The dirty talk
The switch
The moans
The writing
Honeyyyyyy wow
Just imagine this tho: him edging the reader as long as him
If he doesn't get to come, she doesn't either
A withering mess, competition to see who caves first. I can only imagine the filth that comes out of his mouth
I fucking adore this ask, thank you! Please never stop letting me know whatever my writing does to you. And as for edging you, I think Bucky underestimated himself...
You wonder if this is it.
If this is the sub space you’ve heard about. Your mind and body so tuned in to Bucky that his voice is the only thing penetrating the haze clouding your mind. And all you can do is mindlessly follow his orders, even the ones that aren’t of any favour to you. When he tells you to slow, you slow. When he tells you to open your mouth, you do so without question. Everything to please your man.
Even if it means you don’t get to come.
In all fairness, Bucky hasn’t come either. And from the frantic, lust-riddled look in his eyes, you almost wonder how he hasn’t.
So does he.
He’s endured plenty amounts of pain, but this is a different kind of torture. The kind of torture Bucky has found comes with sex. The kind of pain he gets addicted to. He’s been on the edge of coming for about an hour and actively testing his limits. He fucks into you slowly, precisely, deeply, skating and dragging over your slick walls like there is no better place for his cock to be.
But then he looks down, just to tease himself and because he can’t keep from doing it, and your cunt looks so swollen and wet and inviting, he follows his instincts and pulls out. Crawls down and licks into you with a hunger that makes a groan rumble through him. His hands slide around your fleshy thighs as he hauls you closer to his mouth, humming as he pushes his tongue into your hole and teases his nose against your clit.
Oh, and if that wasn’t enough, the way you’re breathless above him, babbling nonsense and formulating not much more than just sounds, it might be enough to drive Bucky to the edge. He wants your fingers through his hair and wants you to call his name, but he knows you’re too far gone.
And as lovely as all of it is, how he understands perfectly that you’re enjoying the state he has you in, he has to check in with you. “Talk to me baby,” he murmurs, littering kisses over your soft thighs as his hands stroke up and down the length of your body and he inhales your arousal deeply. “Let me hear you. You with me?”
You suck in a deep breath, only tuned in to his voice. “Hm… yea… Yeah, right here.”
He smiles at that and squeezes your side softly. “You want to go together?”
You nod enthusiastically and Bucky laughs softly, raising slightly to stroke your cheek. His other hand reaches down and plays mindlessly with your clit, sadistically revelling at the little twitches in your limbs at the touch to your oversensitive pussy.
“You’re pretty like this,” he hums and presses his soft lips to your collarbone. “But I miss you. Want you back to me. Telling me off for torturing the shit out of you,” he murmurs regretfully and far in the back of your mind, you come back to life at this unusual side of Bucky.
“Hmm, Bucky,” you whimper and he looks up hopefully.
“Ah, there she is,” he growls and lowers his mouth down to your own mouth, licking into you longingly and with a deep moan that has you raising your hands to cup his face. And when your fingers slide back, into his hair, he melts against you with a deep groan. “There she fuckin’ is.”
“Need–” you starts breathlessly against his lips, “Need to–”
“Yeah,” he grunts and slides the length of his cock through your folds, his breath stuttering. “Yeah, I know. Gonna make you come soon. Just a little longer. Want you with me while I fuck you.”
“Okay,” you whisper.
Bucky hums deeply, “Okay.”
Just a little longer…

Mermaid dividers
hi - I have a linked pirate/mermaid post in my dividers masterlist here.
and on a side note - I have gotten 5+ requests worded like this (different themes but same wording) in the last 48 hours. Please consider rethinking the way you send requests, anon. Every divider set take me time, even just recolors. Submitting without a hi or please feels discouraging to read, and I won't be fullfilling any requests worded this way.

Yu Fujimura V2 Review
I think some may have forgotten this was started as a review blog, and I kind of did too ; _ ;  I’ve been going through a massive burnout these past 8 months or so and not really doing anything with UTAU at all, including keeping up with these reviews...I’m still working on the requests though, just maybe not in chronological order!
This review was requested by Yupphire.

Hear a Sample of Yu Fujimura
Bio
Name: 藤村ユウ/Yu Fujimura Gender: ??? Pronouns: Any Age: Looks 11 Height: 136cm (4'5") Species: ??? Voiced and Oto by Yupphire
Yu Fujimura was born from one's desire to create music. Their physical form is only made up of miscellaneous notes and melodies, hoping to one day share them with the world.
Official Site
Yu has an official website on Carrd. Voicebank downloads are linked on the home page. The V2 VCV is 381 MB when unzipped and comes with fully generated .frq files.
First Impressions
Yu has a childish and feminine voice with nasal qualities who’s great for adding “oomph” and power to a project.
Configuration
The voicebank has C4, F4, and A#4 pitches and a Soft pitch recorded at E4. The only extras are end breaths and glottal stops, which interestingly are only available as vowel transitions. The transitions between pitches are very smooth, which I extra appreciate since I struggle with it in my own banks.
The vocal range peters out at about G3, but can go up to about F5 or so with no difficulty. Using the soft pitch makes the low range sound less nasally and more pleasant. but only increases the low range a little bit. I was a little disappointed with how similar the soft pitch sounds in tone to the other 3, I would love to hear this voice type with more timbres to pick from. The Soft pitch does have a slightly different enunciation/sound, but UTAU brightens the sound and makes it sound more like their other pitches.
Yu’s oto uses consistent values for every category except the offset, with a 1:3 ratio for the overlap/preutterance.
My recommended flags: F1Y50B0
My recommended resamplers: TIPS, f2resamp
Final Thoughts
Yu’s strong tone and pretty singing voice make for a really fun voice to play around with ♡ This is only the creator’s second voicebank, which is really impressive! Keep going!

just saw thanksgiving!!
(non-spoilers):
sososososo good, everything i wanted and more! shout out to the 6 year old that the family next to me brought with them to see this
i expected it to be cheap and cheesy, but aside from some mediocre dialogue and quips after the final few kills, it was pretty solid.
i liked the most of the characters, but there’s a lot so i felt like a few of them didn’t get much development. i also liked that the characters were morally gray, most of them weren’t just “good” and “bad,” they all possessed a level of complexity
the acting was great, milo especially but that’s just my bias
~~~
(spoilers!): killer reveal and more below!
there were so many kills so i’m just going to talk about the ones i liked. first off, the entire opening scene and its kills were great a bit contrived but still great. overall, the movie is really gory and the opening sets the tone for that greatly
the trampoline kill was fast and fun! as a gay guy i’m not super into straight sex scenes so i’m glad they didn’t even bother going down that territory. the reason it sticks out most in my head is because of how creepy the guy looked when his neck was snapped and no bones or anything came out, just his head being turned around and the skin of his neck severely folding over itself. it was gruesome in its implications and the way he sits up perfectly straight after is so creepy too.
while they showed half of the major kills of the movie in the trailers, they have a lot more depth than what’s show in the trailer thankfully
also, speaking of promotional material, milo’s character, ryan, was made to be the most obvious suspect as the cast and milo himself shared several times in interviews. i think it worked in the trailers but he has much less screen time in the movie than what’s suggested and his involvement is generally low in the plot. as a milo girlie, i was sad and happy to find out he wasn’t the killer, because that leaves room for him in the sequel… but also milo in a masked costume
we do see him in a pilgrim costume for the parade and… he looked so fine i would ride him if he was an actual pilgrim until we contract leptospirosis
let’s just skip my glazing for milo and talk about the killer. somehow, he was the most obvious and least obvious choice. it ended up being the cop, outstandingly played by patrick dempsey
i’m gonna need some more time to collect my thoughts about this reveal, but overall, his motive was solid and he only had one cheesy line in the whole movie, so i’m calling his villainous streak a win for the pilgrims fr
My Year of (Educational) Podcasts
I spent 12,000 minutes this year listening to podcasts according to Spotify. No, I do not listen to alphamale or girlboss or true crime podcasts– I mostly listen to history, philosophy, and literature podcasts i.e. educational podcasts. Here are 12 fun, well-executed podcasts I’d recommend if you’d like to learn more about your favourite (Humanities and Social Sciences) topics.
Betwixt The Sheets: The History of Sex, Scandal & Society. This is a podcast about the history of sex and sexuality. The podcast pays special attention to overlooked aspects of queer history, pop culture, and cultural superstitions. The love life and sex life of historical and artistic figures are also discussed with historians.
Dan Snow's History Hit. This podcasts discusses the most exciting and culturally relevant historical events and figures with expert panel guests. Clears up historical misconceptions and deals with the most interesting topics in an engaging way.
Occult Confessions. This podcast is about the history of the occult, witches, folklore, magicians, and conspiracies. There are discussions of folklore, religious history, and cults. The themes are dark but quite fascinating.
Intelligence Squared. This podcast is centered on cultural and academic debates and deep-dives into polemical topics among top UK experts. I really enjoy their episodes about writers, art, and artists.
The History of Literature. This is about, well, the history of literature i.e. the contexts that created impressive writers, literary movements, and literary works. It also debates and critically discusses classic works.
The Korea File. Y'all know I love kpop and kdramas and by extension, am quite fascinated by Korean culture and society given how much I interact with Korean media. This podcast, produced by a couple of Korean guys, critically explores Korean media, culture, society, and history.
Not Just the Tudors. A fun history podcast that doesn't only cover English Tudor history, but definitely covers a whole damn lot of English Tudor history. Mainly focuses on 13th-17th century global history.
Classical Stuff You Should Know. A podcast about the classical world, the Western Canon, and world philosophy. Discussions of the classics are in conversational layman terms. Topics not restricted to the Graeco-Roman world.
Why Theory. A podcast that uses philosophy and psychological theory to examine culture, history, art and human behavior. Lots of pertinent contemporary social topics are discussed.
Brown History. A podcast about South Asia and "brown" Asian demographics. A wide range of topics, from Pakistani history to the Indian diaspora to Afghan migration to the colonization of India by Great Britain.
Philosophize This!. This podcast covers philosophy, philosophies, and philosophers. I highly recommend listening to the episodes in order as much as possible. Breaks down the complex philosophical ideas using simple terms.
The Thing About Austen. This is a podcast about the world of Jane Austen from the time period to the people to the culture which influenced her big literary hits. Hits that sweet spot between literature and history in a creative way. Recommend for all the Pride and Prejudice (2005) fanatics.
Call for support
Hey friends and followers, we at Solarpunk Presents Podcast (me and Christina, basically...) would really appreciate it if you would lend us your support this holiday season / solstice.
Support can look like subscribing to our Patreon, where we post episode excerpts, bonus chats, dispatches, and reviews from Christina and I. Sometimes, we post videos and photo essays, and we're fostering a little solarpunk community there.
Support can also look like a one-time donation through our PayPal. Every little bit helps us to keep the metaphorical lights on and support solarpunk podcasting.
If you're strapped for cash right now (and to be honest, who isn't? Global finances are pretty abysmal right now, and capitalism's stranglehold is starting to cut off a significant amount of air…), you can still support us very meaningfully by reviewing us on iTunes or Spotify, liking and commenting on our YouTube videos or subscribing to our channel, or even picking a favourite episode of yours and sharing it with a friend, family member, or solarpunk comrade before the end of the year.
Let's start 2024 off on a note of abundance and with a renewed commitment to bringing solarpunk into the present.
(Ariel's note: I've been putting this off cause it feels gross, but it's also kind of necessary for us; watch as I just c+p this across our social media because rewriting shameless calls for support is difficult for me…)
Proposing/requesting some new intersex terminology
In my talking and thinking about intersex and intersex studies, I've found a desire to put names some of the concepts and groups of people that are out there. Here's what I've come up with, and would like feedback. 💛
Alternate language for medical/identity models
Intermedicalist: referring to a person or ideas which support the pathologization of intersex. Alternate language for what Costello (2016) refers to as the medical/disorder model of intersex. Intended as a parallel with transmedicalist.
Interliberationist: an intersex person who supports intersex liberation, in contrast to intermedicalism. Alternate language for what Costello (2016) refers to the identity framework of intersex; the view of intersex as a social identity, and intersex people in need of liberation from pathologization and presumptions about sex/gender norms.
Language for how intersex people relate to gender
Extergender. An intersex person who is not intergender, i.e. their gender does not feel affected by being intersex.
Language for how intersex people do or do not relate to queerness
Interqueer: an intersex person who sees their intersexness as being queer 🌈
Ipsoqueer: an intersex person whose queerness comes solely from being intersex; they are heterosexual, cis/ipsogender, etc. A subtype of interqueer.
Ulterqueer: an intersex person who understands their intersexness as queer and is also queer in other ways (sexual orientation, gender identity, etc). A subtype of interqueer.
Interseparate: an intersex person who rejects the idea that being intersex makes them queer. Opposite of interqueer.
Interconforming an intersex person who disidentifies with queerness on all axes (they are hetero, cis/ipsogender, etc). A subtype of interseparate.
Internormative: an intersex person who rejects that being intersex makes them queer, but they are queer in other ways. A subtype of interseparate. Chosen as parallel to homonormativity and transnormativity.
In terms of feedback: these are all concepts I want names for, but other than intermedicalist & interliberationist I feel pretty tentative/uncertain about what I've come up with. If you have ideas for improvements please let me know! 🤗
I'm a little worried that ipsoqueer and ulterqueer would lead to confusion with ipsogender and ultergender but also couldn't think of anything better!
EDITS: - 2023-11-27: changed "interstraight" to "interseparate", TY to anon who suggested the change. 🏳️‍⚧️
