Deity Fusions And Syncretism Within The Daemonic Pantheon: A Mini Post
Tumblr media
+. GIF Credit .+
I only just remembered to make a post about this now (ADHD sucks sometimes lol), so here I am finally getting around to writing about it.
Full post under the cut. ↓
Tumblr media
It was only a few months ago that I pondered the phenomenon of the syncretic fusions of daemons. Prior to this, I surprisingly hadn't even considered it at all.
If you're a Pagan, you may be familiar with the concept of syncretism; Linking or combining different deities into the identity or "body" of a singular entity. This was a very common practice in ancient Egyptian religion, with the most notable example being Amun-Ra, a fusion of the two gods Amun and Ra.
When it comes to practices such as Daemonolatry and Theistic Satanism/Luciferianism, I definitely feel that this phenomenon can apply to the daemonic divine too. For example, there are some practitioners who believe Lucifer and Satan to be separate entities distinct from one another, whereas others may believe they are one and the same. Everyone has their own personal gnosis, after all.
But what about the possibility of Lucifer and Satan being two distinct entities that have the ability to merge into one singular entity? They would syncretise to become Lucifer-Satan (a.k.a. Satan-Lucifer). Or if you view them to be a singular being, perhaps Lucifer and Satan are just the names for two sides of the same coin; Maybe as a daemon of two-fold aspects, perhaps.
Personally, I believe that all daemons can either stand alone as an individual entity, or can be fused with one another to become a syncretised singular daemon.
Tumblr media
The term "Satan" was originally a title that simply meant "accuser" or "adversary". Overtime however, the word "Satan" eventually became a personification and/or daemon known as "The Devil".
The title "Satan" has also been applied to several other daemons, such as: Lucifer, Belzebuth, Belial, Mephistopheles, Azazel, Asmodeus, Leviathan, Abaddon, Behemoth, and Baphomet. Given that the title "Satan" can refer to many daemons, it's not impossible for them to fuse and manifest as a unified entity, whether it's of your UPG, or if it's simply how they want to appear to you.
I experienced Satan-Baphomet as a fusion daemon at the beginning of my Daemonolatry path, because my UPG at the time was that they were synonymous with one another, and simply just two different names for the same entity. Overtime my gnosis changed, and I began to view them as two distinct entities; And thus, they began to appear to me as such.
Tumblr media
Idk I just thought this would be an interesting thing to write about lol. I hope you find this as interesting as I do! 💜

So I don't change much when it comes to the warriors themselves. I'll update in a different post, I haven't planned out to much lore hahahah. Most of this is just like phrases or books or stuff like that pertaining to the story. (PLEASE NOTE - I am not religious and my knowledge on religion is either ancient civilizations or what I've been exposed to which is Christianity. I do apologize) ALSO - I obviously don’t support some of the standards listed below but like I’m creating a sexist religion for plot sooooo)
Phrases
• Oh My Irene - Oh My God (Same as cannon), I feel this would change names depending on the region you're in. But Irene is the main one used) (ie, regions who ship Esmund would use his name and Irene's interchanging)
• Holy Divine - Jesus Christ (I made this up. I think it's funny hehe)
Books
• The Divine is the main book which covers the life of Irene and her wars, sayings and just life. This book is widely used in Ru'Aun. It has been altered over the years
• each region has books that paint their gods in good light. Though characters in different regions aren't exposed to those books.
• They are unknown books, "lost to time" that depict the wider picture of those years of history (they probably live in Hyria's attic let's be honest) (she probably wrote them, let's be honest)
Desired Traits and Standards/Culture in Ru'aun Based on Religion
• Giving, helping your family, neighbors and foes. It's a huge part of the religion. Irene is seen as the matron and so you must be as understanding as possible. This message is slowly lost overtime.
• Purity. Mostly enforced by places like O'Khasis. Purity is a huge fixation on the religion. Whether it's sexual or with ideas or violence. You're expected to only do "dirty" things when needed
• motherhood is heavily emphasized. Caretaker, nurture, protect. Women are seen as these bringers of life who radiate kindness and love their children.
• Violence being needed. Only take lives when needed and when there is no other way out. Try to be diplomatic. O'Khasis and other powerhouses disregard this.
• The standards of giving allow for good trade amongst the land. O'Khasis uses this standard to mooch off of it's civilians by taking as much as they can from them. Other places like Meteli or Phoenix Drop take this saying to heart
• Saving yourself for marriage and being a homemaker is emphasized greatly to the higher classes of wealthy villages and kingdoms
• Occults like Werewolves and Meif'was are looked down upon, mostly by powerhouses. O'Khasis deems Meif'was as immature and that their magicks aren't "beautiful" like Irene's - that they're naive. Werewolves are seen as barbaric and their polyamory is frowned upon.
• Shadow Knights are hated in the region. Valued by power houses for their strengths. They are usually killed on sight in villages and strong followers of the Divine will kill themselves when brought back as Shadow Knights due to the disgust at themselves.
• All powered beings besides the Jury are looked down upon. Even if used for their strengths. Places like O'Khasis doesn't value their humanity.

Cesar in my AU!
Cesar is interesting in my AU, as he survived the Alternate Encounter by faking his death(Look at him. He’s a theater kid. ), waiting until the Alternate moved on, and then hurried to pack a bag in a fit of panic and hurried to leave the house. More under the cut!
Trigger warnings for: Mentioned suicide, implied near-death experience, religion mention, loss of belief mention, stuff like that, please be careful, guys!
After this, he changed his name, cut his hair, quit singing entirely(No matter how much it pained him since it was a hobby he absolutely loved, but his voice was too recognizable, so he HAD to give it up. He still talks, but mostly uses sign language, despite how difficult it is for him to learn.), took on a job that he would never have taken up if he weren’t attacked by an Alternate(grocery bagger), gave up religion entirely(“What God would allow this to happen to me?”), and just changed himself almost entirely, only showing his true self if he trusts someone enough.
He has no clue about Mark’s death and just thinks he lost his phone, hence why he never answers Cesar’s calls. When he finds out, he’s crushed, but shows it in what most people would see as a “mild reaction” to being told your best friend killed himself.
This isn’t because Cesar doesn’t care, far from it, actually, he cares a lot, he just hasn’t really slept much due to the aftermath of encountering an Alternate and surviving due to him playing dead.
When Cesar is overly stressed, if he doesn’t go nonverbal, he just falls back to speaking in spanish. Jonah(haven’t talked about him yet, but I also have thoughts about him, my funky stoner pizza-loving blorbo <3) typically translates whenever he’s nearby if Cesar shuts down.
Cesar is a HUGE recluse nowadays, typically only going outside if it’s an ABSOLUTE emergency.
Overtime, Cesar breaks out of his shell, going outside slightly more often. His apartment is really well kept, as he cleans often to make sure he stays awake as long as he can.
The instant Cesar first meets Sarah, he just…hugs her. He hugs her and, for the first time since knowing about Mark’s death, cries, because he can’t imagine how badly it’s affected her.
He knew how close Sarah was to Mark, so he tries to see if he can help her in any way, which, in his eyes, is a good thing, although on Sarah’s end, it’s sorta annoying/condescending.
As time goes on, Cesar tries to understand the whole “BPS” thing, but it’s a little hard for him to wrap his head around.(When someone tells him “It’s just Ghostbusters but with Alternates” is when it clicks for him lol.)
Honestly, Cesar is a BIT of a coward, running away at the slightest bit of danger, but he slowly gets better!...slowly…VERY SLOWLY…
Oh, yeah, he has a shotgun. Did I mention that? He has it in case he runs into another Alternate.(Yes, they don’t work on Alternates, but he doesn’t know that.)
He accidentally runs into Thatcher one day. Thatcher pulls a gun on him because “YOU LOOK LIKE THAT ONE ALTERNATE”. Cesar merely sighs defeatedly because he’s too fucking tired to deal with this.
Honestly, that’s a good way to describe Cesar Post-Attack. Tired. He’s so tired, thinking can be hard for him somedays, but he never lets himself rest for too long, lest the nightmares get to him again or he risk encountering another Alternate.
If he ever met Stanley, he would scream as loud as possible, pulling EVERYONE away from him, putting himself in front of them.
He runs into Alt!Mark at one point. That goes about as well as you can expect. Most of the time, Cesar runs from danger, but this time-THIS ONE GOD DAMN TIME-he doesn’t. He can’t bring himself to move. He’s frozen in place. He has to get dragged away while he screams “WAIT, NO, PLEASE, THAT’S MY BEST FRIEND, THAT’S MARK, NO, NO, PLEASE!!!” because he can’t see past the flaws in the Alternate. He just sees Mark.
He’s still as good a cook as ever, he just seems a little…sadder whenever he does, because he can’t sing and cook like he used to. The most he does while cooking is tapping his foot and humming.
After a while, he does start singing again, as he realizes “OH SHIT I’VE HIT PUBERTY MY VOICE SOUNDS DIFFERENT I CAN SING AGAIN!!! :D”
That’s what I’ve figured out so far, but feel free to ask me anything you have questions about!

Do you have any thoughts on clown church/purpleblood religion it's my favorite aspect of homestuck and I always like seeing how other people interpret it. I mostly have been thinking about how it changes on earth C from alternia, but alternian clown church is also cool
I HAVE SO MANY FUCKING THOUGHTS DUDE
Like I literally hate how its interpretted bc its literally taking a bunch voudo inspo and using ICP lingo and more inspo from another musical artist/band that my friend pointed out a while ago to me and I cant remember but MY GOD
A lot of the stuff they were using in the clown church religion really felt like they looked up small bits of vodou and used some stuff they already know and are probs more stereotypes then fact and demonized tf out of it RTYVGBUHJNKM GOD IM IN HATE
My thought process of clown religion is that we dont get much, and i do not believe its a not to be spoken of cult, That doenst really makes sense to me i guess bc these bitches are literally wearing their face paint out in the open, theres no fucking way tbh LOL. At most to me its literally a closed off religion in homestuck. Plus its literally normal to murder on Alternia too so like PLEASE??????
Ok NOW I am going to actually talk about how I see it and stop complaining about how its seen DERFTYGUHI
I see the the clown church as definitely something we dont get much talk about in the OG homestuck so ive basically written into it a LOT and I honestly dont really look at hiveswap or friendsim for refs bc these ppl are fucking making me crazy bc they kinda are TRYING to demonize Gamzee so they demonize the purples and the clown religion in general
Since we're reading the comic and if you think about it, we are reading this religion from an empire that is being manipulated by its dictator (The Condensce) and that dictator is also being manipulated somewhat by someone behind the scenes (Lord English). We already know that the religions messiahs are supposedly Lord English and Doc Scratch
Tumblr media
But I dont even think thats the case!! Because The more I think about it, dont even think it makes much sense for them to be literal messiahs/gods bc it really feels like a goddamn joke bc neither of them can exist at all without the game!!
SO I specifically believe that Doc Scratch and/or Lord English had requested some kind of hierarchy and she manipulated the religion overtime and now Doc Scratch and/or Lord English are literally WORSHIPPED and then the whole warped version of the religion was impliemented so hard for so long that the religion cant be seen as anything else on Alternia other then a sacrifical cult that aims to deduce the lowblood population!!
--------------------------------
Here are some things I have written for it before it became deduced that in the OG:
-The actual name of the clown church religion is called "The Dark Spiral"
-There are more messiahs and also gods that can be worshipped within the The Dark Spiral but the main ones are Mirth and Rage (Who are NOT Doc Scratch and/or Lord English)
-The Dark Spiral is a closed off religion (with exceptions after a long process)
-The Dark Spiral has many public units where they can give thanks/pray (That are basically temple type settings) but those are not the actual places of worship. The locations of the places of worship are unknown to anyone who arent followers of The Dark Spiral. There are specific passages/trails one must take and going any other way may kill them.
-Places of worship are large open spaces that are well hidden and are secluded. They can be either underground, in a LARGE SECLUDED areas away from civilization, or within caves or mountains
-Ritual sacrifices for either Mirth or Rage are usually large animals that are usually cared for and loved. Troll sacrifices for Mirth are minimal and only true followers that volunteer can be sacrifices. A person who is unwilling to be a sacrifice does not bring good luck from Mirth. A sacrifice specific for Rage is also minimal and usually a troll who commits a crime towards the The Dark Spiral or someone within The Dark Spiral who is believed to be truly despicable.
-Special Stardust is made of Lusus bones, A special mineral only known to Alternia (it shines like a rainbow and when grinded up for the stardust its definitely gives a glittery look), and ashes of loved ones (which can be anything not just trolls).
-Special Stardust is mixed into their face paint sometimes on special occasions like a festival or celebration of some kind having to do with the faith.
-Followers of The Dark Spiral pray with the tips of their fingers on their chin or cheeks with their face looking up with their eyes closed specifically when they are tanking the Messiahs or Gods that they may specifically worship within the faith. They pray like most when it's a general prayer of good luck. They also do very quick prayers of luck by honking their nose twice (similar to how some may form a cross on their chest)
-There are most definitely different branches of belief in The Dark Spiral but the main and most popular depiction of The Dark Spiral is the one I am talking about now.
And of course all of this might've been erased and warped thanks to The Condensce and other trolls who may have been dedicated to her or misguided followers. (Not saying canonically but saying that's literally what mightve happen with my specific interpretation of the clown church AKA The Dark Spiral)

Does Gregory ever become "un-posessed" by Evan?
No. They co-exist just fine, and neither of them see a need to end this arrangement. But you have just unlocked the next Renegade AU Lore dump.
Renegade AU Lore Dump: Ghosts and Possession.
In the Renegade AU there are two types of ghosts: Electrical and Remnant.
Electrical ghosts are the normal ghost; the last electrical impulses of a persons nervous system that... sticks around somehow.
Remnant is... debatable. It's liquid ghost, but can be extracted from living hosts. The running theory is that it is emotion, but put into a liquid form. It's more of a small fraction of electrical ghost bound to a liquid, with the liquid usually being blood or metal as these are the most stable containment mediums. Other mediums can be used, but that runs the risk of the remnant becoming a biohazard. The existence of ghosts is secular in nature.
In fact, a disgraced former samurai only created his 'domain' because his wife, a wild west cowgirl, was sad that all organised religion (including the one she was a part of) was just incorrect; there was no gods or anything. So the disgraced samurai took the mask of an alligator and promised her that he would ensure those who were truly evil were punished in death, creating OMC.
Most research into ghosts is modern and spearheaded by Dr May Marion Schmidt. Most of her research was started after November 1987, when her brother strangely 'recovered' from neck injuries he'd sustained a month prior. (Mike didn't just spontaneously recover as the initial hypothesis was, Federico - a ghost - just begun to manage the symptoms and internal problems so Mike could ACTUALY recover but not have it absolutely suck in the process).
Someone injected with remnant will have Apparitions (Defined as a hallucination caused by a ghost or ghost related things) of the person or persons that the remnant came from. If the ghosts are nearby, the injected individual can see the ghosts and will still see them in the state that they were in when the remnant sample was taken, even if their appearance has changed since the (re: Gregory seeing Evan as a child despite Evan having survived the bite of 83 and becoming a solider).
It is easier for a ghost to possess someone injected with their remnant, and the person will only feel a portion of the pain of the ghosts death, making it harder to notice.
The specific act of possession is purely the ghosts choice. Unless external factors like another ghost, electric shocks, or possession resistance is at play, an ghost can possess anyone. This takes a lot of effort on the ghosts end, which is why William can't just possess anybody so easily.
Sometimes, a ghost can get bound to the thing they possess and cannot un-possess their host (such are the notable cases of Dunn and 'Miss', as well as Krasnyy and Philip, amongst others). It is theorised that a ghost possessing someone and that possession ensuring the hosts survival in an incident (anything that could have caused the hosts death without the ghost giving them an 'immunity') causes the ghost and host to be unable to separate. 'Immunity' is hardly a technical term and seems an almost foolish notion, but ghosts will always give their host an immunity of some kinds. Blood loss, asphyxiation, organ damage, falls, crushing, fire, and poisoning are the most common ones, but more niche cases have been reported. Newly possessed hosts will only receive one immunity, but as a ghost and host grow more acclimated to one another, a related immunity may arise as the ghost grows more skilled in preventing death by the immune cause (On the surface it looks like a person is immune to blood loss, in reality there's a ghost working overtime to micro-manage their hosts blood to make sure they don't die).
Hosts also sometimes gain a related ability from the ghost (again, it's the ghost doing stuff). Notable cases are Krasnyy's energy drain that he gets from Philip, PT's pyromancy that she gets from Blake, and and Gregory's event simulation that he gets from Evan.
Normally, most ghosts will not take over the hosts body unless the host asks them to, or the situation requires their specific expertise to survive. Some ghost/host duos seamlessly switch between who is in control to navigate dangerous situations. (notable cases being Krasnyy and Philip)
However, some ghosts (such as William, Adelaide, and Christie) who will take over a host and refuse to give the host control back, meaning that it has to be took back by force. Willpower means basically nothing, and means such as forcing the host to sustain injuries, delivering an electric shock, 'the flash-bang trick', or having another ghost try and take over are the main means of thwarting unwanted possession.
Multiple ghosts may exist in one body at a time (Carl Burke and 'Miss' are experts in this) but it requires immense amounts of co-operation from both the host and all ghosts, so a host and ghost can combine forces to force out an unwanted ghost from possessing the host. This could also be used for a host and ghost to trap another ghost within themselves to keep it from escaping.

Ice Anon - I don't know what I believe anymore, as I have probably mentioned before my parents are Christian so I've been raised Christian. I've been calling myself Christian since I was young but recently was thinking of going ChristoPagan.
but now, I don't know if I even want to stay Christian. But I do still feel kind of connected to Christianity and some of their symbols despite all of the trauma I have from the church.
like I wear a cross necklace a lot cause it's a nice necklace and for some reason wearing it makes me feel happy, but I feel like if I ditch Christianity that I'd have to ditch the necklace too cause it's a Christian symbol.
I know I believe every religion coexists and that all of their Gods are real, but I don't know what religion I want to subscribe to. I don't know what God/s I want to follow, if I want to follow any. I don't know what I believe about death and the afterlife.
I feel like I don't know anything anymore and it hurts me, having set beliefs is something that makes me feel happy and secure, having a God makes me feel better than not having one. I'm so confused and I don't know what to do.
Another reason I don't know if I want to ditch Christianity or not is I worked so hard to stay Christian and to prove that being Gay/Trans wasn't a sin in Christianity cause I was one. I worked so hard to reevaluate my faith and beliefs about Christianity for that very reason.
And I feel like if I leave Christianity that it will have all gone to waste.
I also often worry that Christians are right, what if I do go to hell to be tortured forever? I don't believe in hell but I still have these thoughts and I don't know how to stop it.
I don't think all your work in understanding that Christianity and being gay/trans are compatible would go to waste if you decided to stop following the religion, nonnie. I think it can still really help you understand your faith and your relationship with Christianity, so that if you decide to stop following Christianity, you'll know it's because the religion doesn't bring you joy, peace of mind, comfort, or it just doesn't feel right, and not because it feels incompatible with your gayness/transness.
You can also see it as you setting the foundation for other deconstruction processes and/or belief reevaluations you might want to do in the future. I've found that once you start questioning and deconstructing the beliefs you internalised growing up, it becomes easier to do it again with other beliefs. And it also changes and shapes the way we interact with others sometimes—it can become easier to realise when others are struggling with internalised beliefs they don't even notice are there, and to help others overcome those beliefs if they come to us for help. You can be there for others in a way you couldn't before.
In general, I don't think working on our beliefs and reevaluating them is ever a waste of time, regardless of how much we change and continue to grow overtime.
But I think the most important thing here is that you should not feel chained to a religion just to prove a point or to be "representation" or "proof" that someone can be gay/trans and Christian. You're a person, nonnie. Not a character. Not proof or inspiration for others. And you do not need to prove anything to anyone—not to your past self, not to Christians, not to homophobes or transphobes, not to anyone. We're not here to be representation or activism or proof of anything. We're here to be people, and to live our lives fully and truthfully.
I think it's understandable to be scared of hell even if you don't believe in it. It's a very powerful threat that has been used for many centuries to keep many people scared and compliant, and it's absolutely okay if it takes you a while to overcome this fear, nonnie. As someone who also grew up in a Christian family (I'm an atheist now, albeit still culturally Christian), it personally helped me to realise that there's a lot of similarities between abusive power dynamics and how the church paints God, at least where I live. Not just because of the threats (“he'll sentence you to eternal damnation if you anger him or if you don't believe in him despite the lack of proof”), but also in the wanting people to feel guilty over their own thoughts (you can sin even just in your own mind, and if you do he'll know),wanting you to please him even if it goes against your own happiness, and a long etc.
I think maybe, if you want to, it could be useful to read into the creation of hell; I mean, it wasn’t always a thing in Christianity, and then it underwent many, many changes throughout the centuries until it became what we know it as today. Maybe understanding how and why it was shaped into what it is today can make it less scary for you. Knowledge can be a strong weapon to fight fear.
Also, I don’t see why you couldn’t continue to wear a cross necklace if it brings you comfort! Your relationship and history with Christianity are your business and no one else’s. You don’t owe anyone an explanation about your beliefs or what Christian symbols you wear and why. You’ve gone through so much trauma with this religion, I think you’re more than entitled to reclaim any aspects of it that might continue to bring you comfort.
Sending a virtual hug ❤️

Ben Shapiro's eclipse panic
Tumblr media
Ben Shapiro, pagan conspiracy finder (source: Ben Shapiro at Daily Wire)
If there's one thing that Ben Shapiro is good at, it's watching TV and then promptly getting mad at what he sees. Is he particularly good at analyzing what he's seeing? Well no. But he is great at yelling about it on his podcast.
So, Ben saw a person on the View say something stupid about the eclipse and has now drawn the conclusion that environmentalism is a modern form of paganism. Lets get into it.
00:00, Ben Shapiro: "Well, yesterday was a pagan day in America. There was a giant solar eclipse, obviously, that moved all across the United States over the course of the day and it was pretty fascinating to see the responses. The reason that I say that it was a Pagan day in America is because there are a couple different ways that you could view something like a solar eclipse. So, if you were a normal person you'd view the solar eclipse as a wonderful example of science at work. An incredible example of the workings of the universe in which the sun is eclipsed totally by the moon and it has to do obviously with the rotations of the universe and the solar system -- all the rest of it."
Ok, so Ben's really hyped up about the Eclipse because he thinks that the way the general public reacted indicates that there's a form of environmental paganism sweeping the nation. Surely a large claim like this would have a lot of evidence backing it up....right?
00:40, Ben Shapiro: "Traditionally, traditional religions had always suggested, before they knew any of the science, that things like solar eclipses, which obviously appeared incredibly rarely and were very scary to people, they had suggested that that was celestial movings in response to human sin."
Yeah, most of the insane eclipse conspiracy theories that I've seen online have been coming from the right, many of them saying that the eclipse is the sign of the biblical end times. For example, Jack Posobiec declared that the solar eclipse "foretells the coming of the great leader" and Alex Jones declared that the eclipse would be used to "usher in the coming of the New World Order". All of the apocalyptic screeching about the Eclipse is coming from Bens side.
01:16, Ben Shapiro: "Then there's the Pagan view. The Pagan view is that you sin against nature and then the Gods smack you and that is the view that apparently has been taken by a wide variety of people across the United States. The most obvious of whom is the signal (?) unintelligent person Sunny Hostin on the View."
Finally, Ben's gotten to what he wants to talk about. So, this story is about something that a co-host on the View named Sunny Hostin said. She tried to tie the Eclipse to climate change and was immediately shut down by her co-hosts. Ok, so a celebrity said something stupid and was immediately shut down for it, not a big deal right? Well, according to Ben it is because....paganism I guess.
Also, notice how Ben said "a wide variety of people". It was one person and she was immediately fact-checked for it, calm down Ben. This is like if I said that the entire right thinks that wet pussy is a medical condition because of the stuff that Bens said in the past.
01:45, Ben Shapiro: "Now, it may be that Sunny Hostin just doesn't know literally anything about science or it may be that you are supposed to, in Pagan circles, blame everything on mans sin against nature."
Only Ben Shapiro could dig up a pagan conspiracy in the show that your dentist puts on as background noise. Ben plays the clip from the View and then it's time for more pagan talk.
03:07, Ben Shapiro: "But there is something to what Sunny Hostin is saying and that is that if you live in this Pagan world where the world takes its revenge on you for sinning against the climate and you must pay homage to the climate - you don't have to try and solve a problem, it's not a real world problem that the climate is changing overtime and that maybe you adapt to that as human beings or you try to mitigate particular activities, instead it is a sin against the climate."
I don't know what on earth Ben is talking about here. Absolutely nobody is worshipping the climate and pretty much everybody is looking for practical solutions. Ben doesn't get to talk about "oh, we should be looking for practical solutions to climate change" because he's been opposed to every single one of them.
I'm also waiting for another example of someone else saying that the solar eclipse was caused by climate change. After all, a wide variety of people apparently believe this apparently so surely Ben has examples of other people making this claim. Unless he was making a sweeping generalization in order to underscore his weird-ass point about paganism.
03:30, Ben Shapiro: "And you see, sort of, this additional move towards paganism across the spectrum. It's really really weird, it's a weird thing that we're seeing."
He never really elaborates on this beyond "Well, everything that I don't like is Pagan".
03:58, Ben Shapiro: "It is very funny how everyone's mentality changes with regard to the eclipse. Like, none of us ever think about looking at the sun because you just instinctively don't look at the sun because, you know, don't look at the sun. When it comes to the eclipse we all become idiots."
Golly Ben, I wonder why someone would be more inclined to look at the sun during a solar eclipse. It's not like it's a rare astronomical event or something.
04:12, Ben Shapiro: "NASA didn't just have on scientists to discuss the eclipse. Again, it's NASA, OK. You're talking about a government funded space agency. And they decided that they were going to bring on an indigenous scientist named doctor David Begay to talk about the solar eclipse. And this is a weird thing, ok? It's just weird."
I looked to see if anyone else in the conservative griftosphere was pissed off about this....nope, just Ben. NASA did a short interview with an indigenous scientist, who cares? All that is happening here is a unique perspective being provided. It doesn't hurt anyone and occupied a short amount of time on the broadcast.
So, Ben's proof that America is goin' pagan is someone on the View saying something stupid and NASA interviewing an indigenous scientist. Neither of these stories are related outside of both directionally being about the eclipse, neither of the people that Ben's mad at are climatologists, and none of this is even pagan!
There's an ad break and Ben comes back still pissed off about this brief interview that NASA conducted.
07:16, Ben Shapiro: "I love that NASA has on this Indigenous 'scientist' (his air quotes, not mine). Kay, what he's not talking about is science, it is religion of one sort or another."
And that's why he wasn't running the show and just got a brief interview to provide an interesting and oft unheard perspective on the eclipse.
08:33, Ben Shapiro: "And it does tie into something that has a moral underpinning. And that moral underpinning is that we are supposed to take as wrote the idea that there are these sorts of sacrifices we make to the pagan universe and then we backfill the rationale for them."
Sacrifices? What?! Does Ben Shapiro yell "I WON'T MAKE SACRIFICES TO YOUR PAGAN GOD!!!!" when he is denied a plastic fork at McDonald's?
Michael Knowles:
Tumblr media
Apparently this story about the View was oh so important that absolutely everybody at the Daily Wire had to be drafted on board to cover it. Somebody saying something stupid on the View is a highly important all hands on deck kind of issue and the Daily Wire is here to squeeze as many clicks out of it as possible. So, continuing to prove my hypothesis that he is a failed clone that was created with the combined DNA of Ben Shapiro and Matt Walsh, Michael Knowles leaped onto this story as well.
Daily Wire third-banana (maybe secondary banana since Candace Owens is gone now) Michael Knowles is the absolute last person should be talking about dumb takes on the eclipse since he recently hosted a pastor on his show who declared that the eclipse was a sign of the end times. One of the tags on this video is literally "rapture", he's ironically enough exactly the kind of person that Ben was talking about earlier and he works directly for Ben.

If you think that the Eclipse is a sign of the rapture, you have absolutely zero right to ever criticize anyone of a take on the eclipse.
00:00, Michael Knowles: "While the internet raged with competing theories over yesterdays Eclipse. Was it a direct sign of the worlds imminent end? Was it a warning about some red heifers in the holy land? Was it something else?"
Yeah, one of those people was you Michael. Calm down.
00:17, Michael Knowles: "While all that idle chatter was going on, The Views Sunny Hostin came up with the obvious answer; the eclipse was caused by climate change."
Quick question, do people outside of conservatives looking for more content actually watch the View? The only places I've seen it are at the doctors office and on Dave Rubin/Ben Shapiro/Michael Knowles/Matt Walsh/Charlie Kirk type shows. The View, Rachel Maddow, and most commercials probably have a 75% conservative grifter viewership base.
Michael plays the clip and then immediately discredits himself.
01:29, Michael Knowles: "Well, hold on, Whoopi was actually being the voice of reason until right at the very end when she said 'God does not give you warning'. He does, he does. He gave a warning to Noah for instance, with the Ark."
"Oh yeah, I don't think the eclipse was caused by climate change, that's crazy. Now let me give you my equally insane theory about the Eclipse being a literal warning from God."
Conclusion:
When I started this blog I used to joke that Ben Shapiro is the most rational out of everybody that I cover on this blog. The last two episodes of his that I've covered have proven that boy was I incorrect.
Just to recap, the last two Ben episodes were "There's an anti-white conspiracy hidden in an AI image generator" and now "Sunny Hostin said something on The View and that proves that environmentalism is a pagan movement". Isn't this the guy who's all about "facts and logic"?
Also, Michael Knowles is a massive idiot but we aren't exactly treading on new ground with that. Cheers and I'll see you in the next one.

i don't create a kosher kitchen or avoid chametz for passover
i live an inclusive life i share most of my resources time and spaces w other people and they aren't kosher or know what chametz is
i'd rather just read about the passover story on passover and observe awareness of the story
i can keep kosher to a certain level but like unless i lived and existed in a jewish only community or just was alone all the time there's literally no way for me to successfully perform the tradition correctly. it's not possible.
and i don't think religion is worth changing things abt my life like being socially focused and working w the public and being out in shared spaces and environments all the time.
i can only observe it to the point where it can fit into my daily life if it doesn't i modify the practice or observance of it and if anyone dislikes that i dislike them
and i don't believe in Kareth. If Hashem is real and connected to a person, Hashem should exist with you if you break a rule or not.
like how many traditions and rules have been written using god as a front to make ppl obey it. if hashem is this other dimensionly being that exists outside the mundane physical earth realm i don't think hashem would actually give a fuck if you ate bread or drank a pepsi zero. some things i think ppl do just to feel alive or like they have something they can do with other people.
i like leaving fruit out for sukkot cause i super fuck w that holiday.
passover tho like, i can read about what happened and absorb the information. i don't get what my stomach today has to do with their situation back then, because it doesn't have anything to do w it. :|
i'm abt that symbolic sh!t like lighting candles, that's cool. but i'ma eat my fucking breadrolls and i'm not gonna endure kareth.
nobody is going to endure kareth. any religious text that says you'll be punished eternally for not being good enough at something or doing something right, that's abusive. and if it rlly does work that way i know how to throw hands and tussle if i wake up in the fiery depths of a fucked up shouldn't be real law.
i think god is a dramatic such a fucking dramatic entity. if someone told me i have to act a specific way or my life will be cursed and i will suffer endless consequences i would beat the fuck out of them.
but that's why i always fucked w Lilith more anyways 🤷🏻‍♀️
i don't even think hashem is the main character of judaism i just think they're the fucking loudest one
bro thinks so too that's why they always like "oh don't seek out other entities besides me i only want u 2 like me and listen 2 me 👉🏼👈🏼" girl so ur admitting there are other relevant entities in the conversation let's open the doors set some seats out and work together why u so scared 4
TLDR i think i'm slowly overtime developing a type of judaism that is congruent w being in shared spaces and in public 24/7 cause as much as i appreciate jewry um
i can't stop my life for a mid tradition and i'm not going to unless it serves a rlly significant purpose
i am witchly i believe a lot of the stories from ancient history's past have also been misinterpreted for centuries
i've done spells before where in exchange for one thing i abstained from a different thing and they have basically worked
i think in the particular situation where communities were trying to flee and escape and asked hashem for divine power to enable the journey, i think something metaphysical had to occur to get that wheel turning and get them free.
but i'm not trying to do anything metaphysical on passover i'm probably on my computer doing work and chilling.
like they had to do what they had to do to get what they needed done, done. and it worked. but thousands of years later i just don't get why i would have to repeat the ritual. we're not stuck in that situation anymore. we can relax now. ?? sheesh if i have to flee a king that's forcibly holding my family hostage i'll do whatever divine hexing bullsh!t i have to do in that scenario but on passover this year i am just chilling on my computer.
i ain't omitting chametz curse me idgaf
technically a rabbi might choose to exempt me because i have a digestive disease and also autism so changing the foods i've decided are safe to eat could cause a medical crisis for me
but even if that was not the case i just don't fuck w Kareth. people should uphold the traditions and values that they resonate with.

My boyfriend(16M) is mad at me(17F) cause i told him i am not religious. via /r/atheism
My boyfriend(16M) is mad at me(17F) cause i told him i am not religious. I need some advice, I don’t want someone to tell me to become religious or to turn to god. I just need advice. Thanks. My boyfriend and I were having a discussion, I was watching something on YouTube where this guy had to break up with his girlfriend for the sake of his mom cause the girlfriend did not believe in god. So I asked him “do you think your family or someone you’re related to would be upset if I told them im not religious” he said “im not sure but probably” im like “oh okay. Well I don’t think it should matter if I am religious or not. I’m not religious so” and then he got upset, “why don’t you believe in god”, “I just don’t, overtime I have started to look into spirituality, and even when I was younger I didn’t really even think there was a god”, I said. “Well god is real I’ve seen him and angels are real” he said. “Okay cool, good for you but just cause you tell you’ve seen him or he’s answered your prayers doesn’t really prove he exists” I told him. Now he got really upset. He said, “that was very disrespectful. Why don’t you believe in god. He’s real”, I said “there’s no evidence of a higher power, maybe if I had some evidence to actually prove there is a higher power, then I will believe it. But I don’t think that there is ever gonna be evidence of a bald bearded man in the sky who seems like he grants wishes.” And yet again, he got mad and told me what I said was disrespectful. Yeah okay maybe it was, but that doesn’t mean I’m gonna take it back. I don’t believe in god, I believe in spirituality. He eventually tried putting it all into me, “god created the universe blah blah” like okay but there is non-religious spirituality. I don’t believe there is proof of existence of a higher power, I told him that he can’t change what I believe nor can he be upset by what I believe, and vice versa. He still tells me that I should turn to god and god will fix me, but then I said “isn’t it bad for any religion to force their beliefs onto other people.” He told me that he’s not forcing me but he stills says that I need to open my eyes and pray for god to fix me. I have gotten feed back from Religious Reddit and they are pretty rude. I wanted a neutral advice but people are still telling me to just listen to my bf and become part of the religion i was born into. But I can’t, cause even with just the religious reddit, they seem like the type of people that gives me a good enough reason to not become religious Submitted September 20, 2023 at 08:22PM by Prudent_Sleep652 (From Reddit https://ift.tt/nMR9ljx)

what i wish someone told me about the internet in general regarding making friends passed 2010:
- Dont force things on people selfishly. Dont expect everyone to like or accept all of you. Hold dearly to the people who stick up for you and stay with you despite everything (even being "opposites"). The true gems are the ones who are ride or die but also on your level regarding similar beliefs, values, etc. Dont let others convince you to go down a dark path and make you question who you are.
- Dont get close to people who trash on your religion, beliefs, values. Or trash things you enjoy. Dont befriend people who are negative all the time and their self deprication is so concerning you'd have to ask if they need a therapist, God, or both. Not everyone that gravitates to you is for you. and if your beliefs change overtime dont be afraid to part ways with people from that past.
- Be accepting to burn bridges when your boundaries are being disrespected and they have little to no respect to how you feel. Dont perpetuate cycles that set you up for disappointments and depression. We all had that one dad who went to the store to get milk and never came back. And some of us have attachment issues that went unchecked for years because of that. Just block that inconsistent person you call friend and move on.
- When you block or part ways with someone do it with a forgiving heart. Even if everything hasnt been explained and youre hurting, make sure you never part ways with someone on a bad note. It'll follow you to the next person you might need to burn bridges with and can develop into an untreated attachment issue.
Just make yourself forgive them even if they wronged you because when youre not able to forgive it has a lasting effect on you and youre carrying unnecessary baggage from that encounter. its true for online and irl. next time youre in an internet argument with some prick or having issues with a so-called "friend" dont take it personal. yes its the internet. but they are also people behind that screen too. but also learn do what you gotta do for yourself.
-Make sure you dont take what the other person says or does personally during this time . Maybe yall meet again on good terms and become buddies again or better than before. But also accept if theyre gone, they will probably be gone for good. You cant mend all bridges. And you cant accept that all will come back to you. But know that its apart of life and its neither good nor bad when you have to let people go. It just is and mostly for your benefit and happiness in the end. especially if something like hacking, doxxing, or stalking happens. if you are christian, let God handle it. if you believe in karma trust that theyre bad deeds go unpunished. Dont make those things get to you and make you feel worse.
- take any and every information you get with a grain of salt. dont be quick to cancel and drop things because some random person on the internet says so. especially when the benefits outweigh the odds, or the think piece is based on personal bias rather than actual concerns of society. dont be fooled by fancy words (i wasnt) not every person that speaks for the cause is for the cause.
grifters exist. and nowadays its all a popularity contest. and not every leftist and feminist is your friend or ally or speaks for equality, equity, and human rights. and maybe there are somethings you dont agree with. stay away from the hive mind. think for yourself. if your values and beliefs change you are not a "traitor". Be discerning of anything and everything you see and hear and come to your own conclusion of how you feel about it.
- there are alot of scary things on the internet just like it is in life. i been knew this and for years i never let things like cybersecurity risks and doxxing get to me. because it can and will happen somehow some way. like your nudes being leaked. something you said at a younger age being taken completely out of context. and nobody cares if youre mentally ill or disabled with no guidance. if its meme-able or lolcw worthy the internet will make sure you remember that moment for the rest ot your life.
but something someone told me that made this specific thing less daunting to me. people will talk about you for the rest of your life. and these things i also mentioned are a harsh reality we have to accept. doesnt mean we cant set up precautions to prevent it. But it also doesnt mean we shouldnt use the internet. thats the same logic as saying we cant go outside because a million things could happen if we do. be aware but dont be scared
- if youre young, mentally disabled, suffer from mental illness, or havent been on the internet long enough to know things. please tell your parents, guardians, caregivers, etc who you are talking to. You can choose to not say anything. but if someone is asking you for money, asking for nudes and sexual favors, or is trying to get you to come meet them somewhere way too soon and you have no idea who they are irl, please tell them!
Also try to use discernment and know when someone is out to harm you or just dont do meetups at all if you dont know them like that. if youre in danger, reach out if possible! Make sure you get help locally before branching out to random people from another state. Be careful, be weary, and if you can talk to your parents about the people you speak to online.
-be patient and dont worry about likes, comments, and interactions. dont try to monetize or get popular with something that brings you joy and happiness. because depending on popularity and interactions will only kill your love and passion for that thing. itll probably take decades or a few years for things to go the way you want. just keep posting like youre talking to a wall and someone will eventually see it.
i think that's all i got. Also MINORS (Includes 17 and under). DO NOT POST NSFW OR NUDES ONLINE! its illegal! Anybody who has that content you put out there w/o knowing your age can get in trouble! So please dont be dumb.
i hope all i said was beneficial. ill add at least three tags and edit this later. stay blessed and drink plenty water. ily ✌️❤️🙏
also if someone says you should make adult content or do onlyfans: DONT!!
they only want free stuff from you and dont care about you all that much. from experience. ✌️

Our stars are moving apart and that's okay. I love you.
Pairing: Reader x Mingi
Genre: ANGST. It's PAINFUL. You're meant to cry while reading this xx
Word count: 1.5k
Summary: You and Mingi have been dating for a few years while trying to ignore your religious differences because of how much you love each other. But ignoring that topic only makes it harder because the time has come for you to part ways and there's nothing you can do about it...
Warnings: This entire piece is centered around being forced to break up because of religious differences
A/n: This is partially self-indulgent because I know that I may have to face this in the future considering my family's relatively quite religious. There's no specific religion mentioned in this fic at all.
Masterlist
Tumblr media
“So… that’s it?” Mingi looks up at you from the edge of his bed, jaw clenched and his elbows resting on his knees.
“I’m sorry,” you whisper. Your hand raises to wipe away your tears with the back of your hand, taking a deep breath that you shakily let out. “I tried everything, but they won’t look past it.” The more you think about it, the harder it is for you to maintain your composure.
You can feel your eyes welling with tears for the nth time in the past day and your jaw trembling.
“No, baby.” Mingi reaches out for your crossed arms, pulling them apart and tugging you towards him so that you’re standing in between his legs. “It’s alright, my love. We tried our best.” His large hands hold onto your waist as he pulls you closer, “it’s not your fault, (Y/n). Please don’t blame yourself, baby. Please.” You can’t stop the sob that leaves you when your eyes open to meet Mingi’s.
It breaks his heart seeing you so sad, but it hurts Mingi more knowing that this might be one of the very last times he gets to actually hold you and call you his. It hurts the most knowing that he might actually never even be able to see you ever again without making you heartbroken.
Mingi made a promise years before when you had first started dating and he held onto that promise like an oath; he never wanted to ever hurt you.
Sadness completely glazes over his eyes when he pulls you onto his lap and wraps his arms around you. “There’s nothing else we can do. It’s alright.”
“It’s not alright, Mingi,” you cry. “There was so much we were supposed to do together. We were supposed to get married… and have a billion cat and dog babies and—and we were supposed to spend Christmas together, Mingi.”
“I know, love,” he hushes. “I would give the entire world if it meant we could stay together.” Mingi rests his chin atop your head when he pulls you into his chest, “sometimes, the stars align. And sometimes, when they align, the galaxy shifts overtime and those stars pull apart. You can’t change your religion without your family completely letting you go and I can’t change mine either. Our stars are moving apart, (Y/n).”
“I don’t want them to,” you whimper as you bury yourself into his oversized hoodie, your hands gripping the fabric so tight that your knuckles turn white. “I love you—I don’t want to leave you just because of this.”
“Neither do it,” Mingi sighs softly, “but I will forever thank God for aligning our stars even if it’s for this short period.” He starts rocking you back and forth gently to help soothe your mind, but it doesn’t help when you only grip onto his hoodie tighter and cry more.
Because you know that this would be the last time Mingi would ever be able to calm you down like this. Would you ever be able to look at him without feeling completely crushed? You would love to be able to stay friends with Mingi, but is that even possible?
Mingi closes his eyes and basks in the feeling of you in his arms, basks in the feeling of your warmth. He’s forcing all of his tears down for the sake of not upsetting you any further because he knows that it would be harder to leave you if he cried.
Maybe in another life—in another time—your families would be more forgiving. But religion is a matter that the both of you simply can’t fight against and the differences are too tiring to continuously fight against.
“If we keep going, we’ll both just keep getting hurt,” he whispers into your hair. “I love you so, so much, (Y/n). I want you to live easily and I want you to live happily.”
“How am I supposed to be happy without you?”
Mingi’s heart shatters upon hearing your words. He loses his composure for a moment, a few tears slipping past and down his cheek.
“W-We can do this,” he reassures you shakily. Mingi’s arms tighten around you when he realises just how real the situation is and he breathes out a broken laugh, “god, I’m never going to get over you. I’m going to miss you so much, my love.” He pulls you down onto the bed and slowly climbs up until you’re both laying down with you caged in his arms. “I love you so much.”
“Mingi,” you sob.
“I know, baby,” Mingi presses a kiss to your head, only for another to follow, and then another. “I know. It’s gonna be hard but we can do it, yeah? Just think of it as a game quest. You’ve finished your mission with me and now you have more to finish.” He pulls away to look you in the eyes, bloodshot and puffy… and the saddest he’s ever seen you.
That look in your eyes is all it takes for Mingi to completely lose himself.
“Oh my god,” he chokes. “O-Oh.” You let out your own sob when you see the realisation hitting him. “N-No, don’t—don’t cry, my love. Mingi takes a deep breath and keeps his eyes on you. His hands raise to your cheeks to brush away your tears and he manages a smile, “you’re going to be fine. I know you can. You’re strong.”
Mingi keeps holding you while you sob in his chest, his mind willing his heart to stay strong for your sake. He can’t help the tears that slip past, but he tries his best to not openly cry in front of you.
And when you ask him to stay the night, Mingi obliges. He doesn’t fall asleep, but he stays holding you because he knows that once morning comes, he’ll have to say goodbye to you one last time. He prays that you’ll be alright without him and he prays that you’ll move on to find someone else who can care for you as much as Mingi does.
He peppers you with kisses throughout the night, soaking in your company until the many hours pass and the sun starts rising, signalling the start of both of your days. Mingi holds you tightly at the front door with a bag filled with whatever of his belongings he had left in your apartment overtime.
“I love you so much,” Mingi whispers right before he presses a kiss to your forehead.
“I love you, too,” you nod with a sniffle, voice hoarse from having cried the entire night and one of Mingi’s older hoodies hanging loosely from your torso. “Drive safe,” you wish him.
“I always do,” he smiles. Mingi lingers at the front door for a moment and takes in the image of you one last time before he steps out. He walks towards the elevator, stepping in and turning around to see you watching.
Mingi’s hand raises to give you one last wave that you return, your lips smiling slightly when you see his own smile just as the doors close. He manages to hold himself together until he gets home, ignoring all of the greetings and advances from his band mates as he makes a beeline towards his bedroom.
Once behind the door, Mingi’s entire composure crumbles and his heart completely falls apart. He sobs and cries like he never has before. His hand clutches his chest when the pain spreads and he falls to his knees out of both exhaustion and the heartache.
Yunho’s the first to come into the room about an hour later, the dancer offering his silent company to his roommate who doesn’t deny him nor does he accept him because Mingi’s numbly sitting on the ground and leaning against a wall. Yunho stays perched at his desk as he quietly busies himself with his own devices, glancing over at Mingi every once in a while just to make sure he’s okay.
And Yunho knows that he isn’t; Mingi knows that too. Even as he grabs his phone to send you one last text, Mingi knows that it’ll take him a very long time to finally be okay.
Mingi Mango <3: Our stars are moving apart and that’s okay I love you Please take care of yourself
He can feel his breath shaking once again when he sees the message being read instantly and the chat bubble popping up.
Lovely (Y/n): I will Take care of yourself too, Mingi I love you
And Mingi throws his phone onto the bed harshly as he starts sobbing loudly once again, teeth gritting and pained cries leaving him. Yunho immediately moves to his side to offer his physical support, pulling the rapper into his arms and hushing him. He doesn’t know what to do other than at least try to be there for Mingi.
But Mingi knows that Yunho’s support means nothing to him now.
Because the worst part is Mingi knowing that he will never get over you.

Is there really all that much of a difference between how violent/intolerant that Xianity is from how violent/intolerant that Islam is? Because I constantly here Xians claim that this difference is very large between their religion and Islam and how Xianity is the supposedly “more peaceful and tolerant religion” when it gets compared to other religions, like Islam, but that just doesn’t sound right to me.
Hmm, interesting question. Let me think...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm going to say yes. Yes, there is a very large difference between Xianity today and Islam today.
There are no Xian majority countries where you can be arrested, tried and executed for not being a member, or for making fun of it. There are no Xian-majority countries where you can be executed - or undergo forcible gender reassignment - for being gay. There are no Xian-majority countries where anything like Sharia is implemented. You can make any image you like of Jesus - including submerged in urine - and although people might be offended, they have no Xian mandate to kill you for it. Nobody is beheading anyone over Gay Jesus. Nobody in Xian-majority countries is stoning anyone to death with state approval.
Tumblr media
Xianity isn't emboldening people to accost and harass strangers on the street for not wearing a scarf, and the state isn't sentencing women to 16 years in prison for same. Xian militias aren't stoning people to death for adultery. Nobody in a western country is excusing hanging a girl upside down in a garage and beating the soles of her feet as just being "Xian culture." Nobody is calling for Xian women to be made "unsafe" for not wearing a particular item of clothing, tacitly endorsing throwing acid at them. Xians who have affairs aren't dragged out by the state and publicly beaten.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Indeed, while Islam is steadfastly against modern, liberal democracy, Xianity is busy pretending it is responsible for it.
I keep seeing in the comments on my posts things like "Xianity is just as bad." It's not. Xianity has been largely tamed. They pretend the gross bits don't apply, are metaphors or have been swept away by Jesus. They work overtime to edit, rework and cherrypick the doctrine to make it fit modern sensibilities, and they increasingly erode it in the process.
In countries with high Xian prevalence, there are disagreements and debates about laws and policy. In Islamic countries, there is no debate, there is no arguing, there is only the threat of comply or else.
"If Islam is the same as every other religion, why do I have to walk around with armed bodyguards?" - Ayaan Hirsi Ali
Islam has not undergone a Reformation or modernization. It's not even clear it can. Unlike the bible, the quran is taken to be the literal, revealed word of god. It cannot be changed, it cannot be disregarded, it cannot be turned into mere metaphor.
Xian-majority countries have statements like "freedom of religion" in their constitution. Islamic-majority countries do not.
Ex-Xians do not always have an easy time leaving Xianity. But it is a whole other level for ex-Muslims. Even in secular, western countries, ex-Muslims are subject to abuse, threats and violence. Even with those "freedom of religion" declarations in place.
https://exmuslims.org/community/
Former Muslims find little acceptance from their own family and friends. In fact, many never disclose their lack of faith to anyone, living a lie for fear of the cost of telling the truth. Others choose to come out as non-believers, and face devastating consequences.
To help this vulnerable, often hidden population, Ex-Muslims of North America fosters local, underground communities all across the United States and Canada. These private networks are accessible only to other ex-Muslims who are approved to join – establishing a sense of safety when disclosure might lead to abuse or worse.
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-06-09/double-lives:-the-secret-ex-muslim-network-in-australia/9811340
The circumstances under which they know each other are bittersweet. They are members of an underground network of former Muslims across Australia, caught between secularism and Islam. Some fear persecution if their loss of faith is discovered, some fear for their lives.
Take note: these precautions are necessary in the USA, Canada and Australia.
9.66
Make no excuses! You have lost faith after your belief. If We pardon a group of you, We will punish others for their wickedness.
https://quranx.com/Hadith/Bukhari/USC-MSA/Volume-4/Book-52/Hadith-260/
Narrated `Ikrima:
`Ali burnt some people and this news reached Ibn `Abbas, who said, "Had I been in his place I would not have burnt them, as the Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'Don't punish (anybody) with Allah's Punishment.' No doubt, I would have killed them, for the Prophet (ﷺ) said, 'If somebody (a Muslim) discards his religion, kill him.' "
https://quranx.com/Hadith/Bukhari/USC-MSA/Volume-9/Book-83/Hadith-17/
Narrated `Abdullah:
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "The blood of a Muslim who confesses that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that I am His Apostle, cannot be shed except in three cases: In Qisas for murder, a married person who commits illegal sexual intercourse and the one who reverts from Islam (apostate) and leaves the Muslims."
Fundamentalist Islam is in power in dozens of countries around the world. Fundamentalist Xianity is largely on the fringe. And yes, that includes the USA. (No, the American Republican Party is not fundamentalist Xianity.)
"Westboro Baptist Church does not have a country where they are murdering ppl for being gay. Islam has fifteen." - Yasmine Mohammed
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Xianity is a blight on humanity. But can we please stop pretending it's "just as bad"? It's not. Xianity’s claws have been largely clipped. Islam is just as barbarous as it has been for 1400 years. And whenever this false equivalence is made, it denies the unique problems of Islam in the world. And particularly the plight of people subjected to it.

"Way Down We Go" Nanami Kento X Fem!Reader
Author's Note: I was asked to write a Priest Nanami AU fic by a friend and decided to make it part of her birthday present. Happy Birthday! Hope you like it! (I've never written smut before so... I tried. Also this is smut, so be warned).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Churches, generally conceived as places of peace and worship, are also active locations for the creation of curses. The amount of loathing that accompanies the concept of “sin” plagues the congregations and buildings of God. As such, it was expected within the career of all jujutsu sorcerers for them to “serve” in at least one church and exterminate the various curses clinging to their hosts.
Said expectation (tied together with the conniving mind of one blindfolded loudmouth) meant that Nanami Kento, renowned sorcerer and loather of overtime, was currently masquerading as a priest and presiding over the evening congregations at a large Catholic church. Needless to say, Nanami was displeased with this assignment. Not only was he required to work beginning in the evening, he could not leave the church until he was the last one there. He had no set schedule and that irked him immensely, as well as the fact that he could not wear his usual attire, having to sacrifice his suit and tie for the black garb of modern priests.
It was a Sunday, the busiest day for churches of course, approximately a week into his service, and Nanami was once again seated inside of the confessional booth. It was exactly what he expected it to be, listening to the mundane problems of the masses while trying to match voices to faces of those unintentionally harboring curses. He’d been preaching and listening for hours, the time bordering on ten in the evening, and the small crowd was thankfully thinning. The final person stepped into the booth beside him, hidden from view, but the nervous breathing echoing through the box indicated that the individual was probably new to the faith, or at least hadn’t practiced in a while.
“Tell me, father,” the voice asked the awaiting silence. “Do we get what we deserve?”
The question piqued Nanami’s interest and he leaned towards the wall unintentionally. Usually people plopped down into the booth and listed out their various sins: liars, adulterers, thieves, and the like concerned not with change or forgiveness, but with societal standing. This woman with the quiet question had made this evening at least somewhat bearable.
“Explain to me what you mean,” Nanami questioned, racking his brain to see if he could place the face to the voice beside him.
There was a quiet sigh, as if the speaker had hoped for a simple answer. “Do you think that our actions matter? Like, if I live a sin free life or a sinful one, so long as I repent, does it matter?” The woman was clearly frustrated.
Perhaps this one question had been her only reason to turn to the church today, Nanami mused. “What, then, do you think you deserve?” He couldn’t help but ask, regardless of whether it prolonged his stay on sacred ground.
There was a moment of silence as the woman hesitated. “I’m… not sure. I work so hard every single day and I need to know if it matters.” Exhaustion poured through her last few words, the weariness of maintaining a life under society’s conditions. Nanami could relate, especially within the confines of the confessional booth many miles away from the comforts of his home and normal schedule.
“Well then, I can only recommend you one thing,” he stated. “I do not know whether our work pays off in whatever afterlife awaits us, if any. So, I suggest you take a break.”
“A break…” the woman replied, mildly confused. “I don’t understand, Father.”
Nanami didn’t understand it much himself, but as he pushed open the door to the confessional and stood surrounded by the altar's candles, he decided he could use a break as well.
Having heard the priest leave the booth, so too did the confessor. She wore an expression of wariness and confusion, but Nanami was distracted by the deep exhaustion present on her face. He was right in matching the voice to its owner, having noticed the woman in the congregation the last few nights. She had sparked his interest as one of few genuine people in the audience, even if she was skeptical about the religion, and hearing her in the booth only made it abundantly clear why he found himself mildly distracted by her during the sermons. They could both use one hell of a break.
The woman folded her arms in front of her, eyeing him with a mix of interest and doubt. “Are you planning to explain yourself, Father?”
Nanami held out his hand. As she placed her fingers gently in his palm, he tugged her forward and wrapped an arm around her waist. “A little divine intervention seems in order, my child.” She settled into his arms, seemingly comforted by his embrace. The blonde man tightened his hold on her noticeably and stared into her enticingly wide eyes.
“You better make this worth it,” she said, tilting her head slightly. “I’ve had a long day, you know.” It was clear she wanted what he was offering. Whether through attraction to him, a need for a distraction, or a mixture of both, the woman was leaning heavily upon his chest. Her arms slowly snaked up around his neck, her fingers playing with the ends of his hair invitingly.
Rather than waste more time on words, he brushed his lips up gently against hers, a silent vow to make this a godly experience. The woman seized the moment and eagerly kissed him back, turning the saintly, chaste promise into what they were both truly wanting. Nanami tightened his arms around her waist, digging his fingers into the soft fabric of her dark dress. It looked barely appropriate to wear to church in Nanami’s brain. The way it accentuated her body, the confidence with which she held herself, was too hard to resist and he was glad he stopped trying.
A light nip to her bottom lip was all the woman needed to let him into her mouth, his tongue slipping inside and providing the guidance needed to deepen their kiss. Nanami was all but drowning in the delicious sighs and moans gifted to him and diligently worked to achieve more. All the while, he gracefully guided their bodies towards the altar and thoughtlessly pushed aside the tools from his earlier sermon to sit his current subject of worship upon the chilled wood. It wasn’t the most comfortable, but it did the job just fine.
Nanami situated himself between the woman’s thighs, grinding every so often against her and earning tugs on his hair in return. “Tell me, little lamb,” he said, pulling back enough to meet the lust darkened eyes of his partner. “Will you sing for me?” His hands were on her thighs, pushing up the fabric of her dress and relishing in the soft feel of her exposed skin. He wanted nothing more than to lay her back and wreck her on this holy ground, but he waited as patiently as he possibly could to prolong this much deserved night.
“God, yes,” the woman sighed in response. Her hands wandered over his clothed skin, wondering what he felt like beneath, but rather turned on by the perfection of his priestly garb. His eyes gazed into hers, dark and wide, and color dusted sculpted cheeks. She wanted to comment how fitting it was for him to be a man of the lord when his calloused fingers hooked into her panties and gave a firm tug. All thoughts fled her brain and she moaned as a knuckle rubbed gently through the gathered wetness about her core.
“Just like that, darling,” Nanami praised, barely containing a groan as her fingernails dug delightfully into his shoulders. Swiftly, he fully removed her underwear and let it drop to the floor beside the altar. The man planted another kiss onto his partner’s blushing cheek before fluidly getting to his knees. Nanami braced his hands onto her thighs and parted them from where they had begun to close in around his face. He paused for only a moment to take in the glistening sight before him before descending his lips and tongue into the warmth before him.
He licked a broad stripe from her center to her already tender bud, huffing a breath of pure arousal at the breathy moan that sounded above him. The sound echoed off of the stone walls of the cathedral, accompanied by the wet noise that followed his tongue’s assault on her clit. Nanami relished the feeling of her fingers on his scalp and the soft spew of encouragement from above him. Already, he felt uncomfortably hard, but focused himself on pleasing the woman before him. As one hand left her thigh and traveled up under the fabric of her dress to caress the flesh beneath, Nanami slipped his tongue inside her pleading hole. He caressed the delicate walls, licking in an out to taste her fully. Her nails gripped onto his once neat blonde locks and he groaned at the feeling, the vibrations doing everything to bring her closer and closer to the edge.
Nanami continued his ministrations, burying his face into her sweet core and letting her legs close around him so his other hand could entertain her nub while he worked. With each circle of his rough thumb, he felt the woman coming undone around him. Her legs shook gently over his shoulders, but he relentlessly continued to thrust his tongue in and out of her, caressing as deep as he could in her tightening walls.
“Oh god, Father, I-” the woman attempted to say between moans of pleasure. “I’m going to-” She cut herself off with a silent scream, her face turned toward the chapel ceiling as Nanami worked her through the waves of her orgasm. He lapped up the fluids gathering around his tongue and soothingly rubbed circles onto the inner skin of her thigh, waiting until the iron grip she had on his hair relaxed and her legs no longer clamped around his head.
Nanami returned to his feet, the results of the woman’s first release glistening on his lips. There was no hesitation from either party as their mouths’ met, the taste of her on both their tongues as she greedily hugged him closer for more despite the light shaking of her body. “Please tell me that wasn’t all,” she breathed against his mouth with a coy grin.
Nanami huffed a laugh and pulled back slightly. “I’m delivering what you deserve, am I not?” He teased, grinding again against the wetness between them, not caring what it did to his black pants. The woman squirmed from the stimulation, her face a fight between a wince and the ‘oh’ of another moan.
Her fingers scrambled for purchase against the smooth fabric separating them. “I want to feel you…” She pleaded, the apprehension from earlier entirely gone. Nanami held back a groan by pressing his lips back against hers, loving how eager she was for what he wanted as well. He took the time to slip her dress entirely off of her, exposing her to the cool air of the church and the wandering of his hands. Nanami was in no rush, despite how he ached within the confines of his pants. He wanted nothing more than to continue to defile such a faithful child of god, to feel all of her skin against his fingers, to hear every little sound that left her beautiful mouth because of him.
Sadly for him, his partner was in no mood to delay. She tugged at the front of his pants, undoing the hidden button and zipper to free his lengthy and leaking member from its prison. Nanami watched her swallow from between partially lidded eyes as a small wave of relief spread through him at being exposed to the open air. “It’s not nice to lie, Father,” the woman chuckled, wrapping her hand around his cock and giving it a fair few strokes. “Those pants barely show a thing.”
Lord, was he worked up. Taking it slower would have to wait for another day. Regardless, Nanami gently placed his hand over hers, using them both to guide the head of his member to her entrance. “Then forgive me, for I have sinned.” He placed his other hand on her shoulder, guiding her to lay down against the altar and running his fingers tantalizingly down her body. Carefully, Nanami plunged into her, the stretch of her walls around him causing them both to release heavy groans towards the heavens. “God help me..” He whispered into the air with a chuckle while he waited for her to adjust to the intrusion. The sweet tightness swallowing him whole begged for him to start moving, to see how delicious it would feel for her body to milk every last drop from him, yet he waited until she impatiently twitched around him.
Looking down at her, Nanami couldn’t help but snort. “Patience is a virtue, darling.” His voice was strained from the effort it took to resist from pounding into her.
The shock of the intrusion gone, the playful smile returned to her face. “Does that mean I’ll be punished, Father?”
A genuine laugh broke from Nanami’s throat and he positioned his hands on her waist. “I suppose it is necessary. Virtues must be learned somehow.” He then began a sudden and harsh pace, pulling nearly all the way out before slamming back. The drag of his cock along her walls was pure bliss, the stretch barely painful beyond the pleasure being literally pounded into her body. Perhaps it was the euphoria, but the woman could swear his unrelenting pace hit places she never knew could feel so good, each slap of skin on skin eliciting gasps and pleas from her.
Even better was the look plastered on the ever stoic and serious Nanami, the priest she had only ever seen scowling from behind the altar he was currently railing her on. His brows were drawn and his jaw set tight around every groan and grunt rung from him. The sternness was different from usual, no longer the reproachful hand of god, but a man hellbent on finding and giving release. His fingers held on with bruising strength, moving her body for her as he struck again and again at her most sensitive spot. Her fingers clawed for purchase on the thin red fabric covering the wooden slab of the altar as stars shot in and out, throwing everything out of focus except for where Nanami’s body and hers connected.
With the echoes of their voices and skin bouncing around them, Nanami was getting progressively closer to climax. The time spent pleasuring his partner had sufficiently worked him up and the pressure wrapped around his cock was godly. Seeing the edge approaching, he released one hand from its forceful grip and moved it to toy with her clit once again and bring her along with him towards release.
The woman clung to the altar with one hand above her head, her eyes scrunched shut as the coil in her core threatened to snap for the second time that evening. It didn’t take much longer for orgasm to hit, her walls clenching tight around Nanami’s cock and her barely opened eyes staring fuzzily at the church ceiling as every nerve in her body tensed and released in waves. Nanami was short to follow, the pressure around him too wonderful and the expression of the woman before him enough to tip him over the edge. He pulled out with a wet pop before painting the woman and the altar in long spurts of cum. He braced his hands on the wood on either side of her body, their heavy breathing filling the space as they both reeled back into themselves.
Before a silence could settle, Nanami began to put himself back together, cleaning himself off with a handkerchief and tucking himself back into his pants. “I will be just a moment,” he informed the still shaking woman and went to retrieve a hand towel from the closet near the church’s restroom. He began gently and diligently cleaning her, then helped her back into her clothes. Aside from the red swollenness of their lips and the disheveled state of their hair, the two looked nearly normal. Nanami had been careful not to leave any visible marks on her, had kept his lips to hers or to places unseen, simply because they had not had the time to discuss what exactly was okay and what wasn’t beforehand. Despite having fucked a churchgoer on an altar just moments before, Nanami was a gentleman and respected any boundaries his partner may have had.
With the evidence of their “worship” cleaned up, the two adults walked towards the doors of the church. The woman paused at the door and looked up to Nanami with a broad, relaxed smile. “Thank you, Father. For the break.” An amused laugh bubbled past her lips and Nanami found himself grinning slightly in return.
“Any time, my child. I am here to serve,” he said, extending a hand with a simple business card in it. “Even when I am no longer part of this congregation.” While generally saved for curse work, Nanami always carried cards with his name and number on it. And this definitely seemed like a worthwhile time to give on.
The woman took it and tucked it into her purse securely. “I hope to see you again soon,” she said in farewell, leaving Father Nanami behind to finish attending to church duties. Perhaps the mandatory service as a priest wasn’t so bad. It certainly had its perks.
The importance of legitimacy of Shinto clergy and shrines
Date of posting: Saturday, April 10th, 2021 By: Rev. Olivia Bernkastel
Hello everyone! It's been a long time since I've posted an article of mine. It's been a very difficult time, especially with COVID-19, and I hope everyone has been keeping safe and healthy.
This is a topic I felt was too important to not write about, especially that it has come to the attention of other Shinto clergy online and myself, that a number of illegitimate shrines and individuals claiming to be priests or Miko with no authority to be doing so have come up in the past few months, and I don't want people to be misled.
 I have compiled a list of legitimate Shinto and Shinto-related presences overseas here, so please see here: https://www.livingwithkami.com/shrines
I want to write about this topic a little so the reason of why it is so important can be understood.
I am not sure why the above issues occur so often personally; but in my time online I feel this stems from various issues.
A main issue I have noticed is that Shinto is often equated with, or regarded as under a type of Paganism, and this is a misnomer.
Shinto a living, unbroken way of living and tradition that has existed since ancient times in Japan and never died out.
Pagan religions are those that have existed since ancient times, but at some point the tradition, knowledge, and organization of such religions were lost to time.
 There are some groups that try to re-establish these ways with revivals, but it is not the same as a living tradition, especially not the same as a living tradition tied deeply and inseparably to Japan and Japanese culture.
In Pagan spheres, anyone can claim to be a priest and set a shrine/temple because there has been no formal continued living tradition, organization, schools, or authorities (such as licensed clergy or elders) that set a standard since ancient times.
Shinto, in contrast, does have all of these factors. For example, in the Pagan sphere for the Greco-Roman gods, if we take for example a temple of Apollo, it would have once been active and bustling, but then overtime the religion in the region changed and the temple would have been left to ruin for thousands of years.
In contrast for Shinto, a shrine could have been established a thousand years ago and still stands to this day, upheld and caretaken by all the generations before and into the present day.
This is a large part of why not just anyone can call themselves clergy or set a place of worship. Shinto clergy must learn from, and respect the history, culture, traditions, and sincerity of the generations of everyone before them, as the respective past clergy and authorities before them have done so upholding the traditions unbroken.
 And it is of utmost important for everyone to know to uphold this understanding and learn properly, so the traditions and practices in our religion can be preserved and respected properly as well for many years in the future, especially as it spreads more overseas outside of Japan.
Especially for myself, as one who before becoming a licensed priest did not know any better, and had trusted illegitimate shrines and individuals to my demerit. Since that time, I have wanted to ensure that people are aware and have the knowledge to safeguard themselves from illegitimacy.
Since learning much more, there are many key factors to tell if one is legitimate or not.
One key thing is the lack of transparency, the lack of willingness to explain the roots or origin of their practice in Japan, which is a very key important point. No mention of a Mother shrine that theirs has come from, and not understanding the fundamentals of Shinto practice, let alone Japanese culture in which the two are inextricably intertwined and cannot be split from one another.
Clergy must have an intimate knowledge of Japanese culture, especially considering all must train in Japan for a period of time and learn the culture, especially to be familiar with the language, and strive for fluency, as a part of the licensing and ordainment procedures no matter the faith.
 Especially for the case of properly transmitting the way to chant Norito Prayers, and in writing the Main Prayer to Kami-sama, this is so important.
Personally speaking in my faith, Konkokyo, I did not need to know Japanese fluency initially, but I still must strive to learn it and I am held to eventually know fluency, especially here in Japan to properly understand certain untranslatable concepts, prayers, and so forth.
I must also continuously strive to humbly learn from all my teachers and elders here, and ensure to be able to transmit the culture and traditions properly.
 I had failed to aptly do this in the past, and therefore I have taken a long hiatus to learn more and absorb more before sharing.
But I digress, I write this so it can be understood how important and how deep it goes within Shinto, that the fact this is a living tradition with many faiths within it, tied so closely to Japanese culture and history, that cannot be forgotten.
 Especially if we want to ensure it's upheld outside of Japan.
Thank you so much for reading.
Random Stuff #10:  Daoist Elements and More in The Untamed/MDZS Part 2 - Weapons and Magical Objects
(Part 1 Here) (Super-long post ahead!)
Talismans/Charms/符箓/符咒
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The talismans in both the live-action and animated shows originate from Daoist talismans, which in turn developed from early shamanistic traditions.  Like what Lan Wangji tells Jiang Cheng in the show, real life Daoist talismans are usually made for beneficial purposes, one of which being to ward off evil spirits.  Other purposes of such talismans include everything from curing illnesses to controlling floods to communicating with the gods.  In order to call forth gods to accomplish these goals, writing/drawing on the talismans usually include “incantations” that start with “勅令”, or “command”, on the very top. The word can be traced back to 敕令, which refers to orders from an emperor, but since 敕 is traditionally reserved for the emperor, Daoists use 勅 on their talismans.  The meaning is also slightly changed, as 敕 has 攵 on the right, implying the order is written; meanwhile 勅 has 力/force on the right, implying the order is executed by “force”.
The body of the talisman sometimes include complex combinations of Chinese characters (合体字/複文) that are more like visual symbols and do not have their own pronunciations.  On a talisman these “combination characters” are usually arranged in a specific pattern. These combination characters aren’t exclusive to Daoism, however.  Below is a well-known combination character created from the word 招財進寶 (lit:  “gaining wealth and attracting riches”), commonly seen pasted on doors and windows around Chinese New Year for luck.
Tumblr media
Other elements of a talisman are mostly made up of symbols such as the yinyang symbol, eight trigrams, and special strokes that also hold symbolic meaning.
A fun detail from the animated show:  in the scene where Jiang Cheng shows the inverted evil-warding talisman to Lan Wangji, we can see that WWX’s addition in blood near the top turns the 人 part into 夷, as in 夷陵老祖/”Yiling Founder”, giving the viewer a solid hint as to who changed the talismans.
Tumblr media
Sword (Jian)/剑
Tumblr media
Jian sword refers specifically to pointed double-edged one-handed straight swords.  The sword is important to religious Daoism, but its origin as a culturally-significant symbol lies in history.
The sword was an actual weapon used on the battlefield before Han dynasty (before 202 BC), and it was that time, long long ago, that the sword was associated with certain human qualities, such as an unyielding sense of justice.  From there, the jian sword eventually became an ornamental item symbolizing high social status.  Evidences of this can be found in the Book of Rites (《禮記》), a book detailing etiquettes and rituals for nobles of Zhou dynasty (1046-256 BC).  For example, a chapter mentioned “when looking upon a gentleman’s attire, sword, and carriage horse, do not gossip about their value” (“觀君子之衣服,服劍,乘馬,弗賈”).  One such decorative jian sword artifact even survived to this day:
Tumblr media
Sword of Goujian, King of Yue (越王勾践剑), part of the collection of Hubei Provincial Museum.  Note:  the engraved “bird-worm seal script” (鳥蟲篆; basically a highly decorative font) text says “Goujian, King of Yue, made this sword for his personal use” (戉王鸠浅,自乍用鐱).
By the Eastern Han dynasty (25-220 AD), Daoism had established itself as a folk religion.  Many of the customs and etiquettes passed down from pre-Qin dynasty times were mystified and given religious importance in the then newly-established Daoist belief system, including the aforementioned etiquettes involving the jian sword.  People came to believe the jian sword as holding magical properties, a weapon gifted by heaven itself, allowing its wielder (usually a Daoist priest) to fight and triumph over demonic spirits.  As the jian sword became more and more of a Daoist ceremonial item than an actual weapon, it also slowly changed to this familiar form today:
Tumblr media
(Modern ceremonial Daoist jian swords.  Fun fact:  it is widely believed that jian swords made entirely of peach wood have better demon-banishing abilities than regular swords, since peach trees were said to have demon-warding effects.)
So, a sword that was worn to show respect, used to showcase social status AND have demon-warding powers?  Does that sound familiar?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was no accident that the day WWX refused to take his sword with him (since he gave his core to Jiang Cheng so Jiang Cheng could continue to use swords) was also the day the other sects/clans started to alienate him.  The sword symbolized status, and WWX was only the son of a servant, a “lone genius” (一枝独秀/”a lone blooming branch”, in the words of Jiang Cheng) among all the young nobles, so it was fitting that WWX abandoned the “righteous” sword path to walk a new and unique path in order to reach his full potential.
“Fly whisk”/“duster”/fu chen/拂尘
Tumblr media
Remember the funny-looking duster-like objects that Song Lan and Xiao Xingchen held in the live action series?  Those are called fu chen, or “拂尘” in Chinese, and hold symbolic meaning in Daoism.  To explore that meaning, let’s first explain the name “fu chen”.  Fu chen literally means “brush dust”, so the Chinese meaning is really more like “duster” than the common English translation of “fly whisk”.  But then what sort of “dust” is it really “brushing”?
The concept of “dust” (尘) in both Daoism and Chinese Buddhism refers to the normal secular human society, with all of its material objects and worldly wants and worries.  Thus, the symbolic meaning of fu chen/“duster” is to clear these worries and wants--in other words, worldly attachments--from one’s mind, allowing one to exit the secular world.  For this reason, in China, the process of abandoning one’s normal life in society for the life of a Daoist priest or Buddhist monk is called “出家” (lit. “exiting home”) or “出世” (lit. “exiting world”; world here meaning society).
Since both Song Lan and Xiao Xingchen are Daoist priests (they were both referred to as “道长”), and both wandered through the world banishing evil rather than settling down somewhere and integrating into society, it was a nice choice to have them each hold a fu chen.
"Stygian Tiger Seal" or “Yin Tiger Seal”/阴虎符
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This one is a non-Daoist reference, but it’s still rooted in Chinese history, so here we go.
The fact that the Stygian Tiger seal is called a “tiger seal”/虎符 and has two halves that unleash powerful resentment energy when fitted together (this mechanism is present in both book and live-action but is absent in the animated show, where the two halves appear to be conjoined), points to the inspiration being the tiger amulet.  In imperial China, tiger amulets/虎符 are metal tiger figurines that split into halves lengthwise, and serve the important purpose of approving military deployment.  The imperial court would hold the right half, while the left half would be issued to military officials.
Tumblr media
When army deployment is needed, the official would bring the left half of the figurine to the imperial court, and if it combines with the right half into a whole figurine, then the military deployment would be officially approved.  Historically, tiger amulets are a security measure designed to give the imperial court control over the military.
Finally, some joke talismans I found on the web:
Tumblr media
Translation:  “No need to work overtime”; “hold the talisman and chant ‘PIKA PIKA’”, “will confuse your boss so you can get off work early”.
Tumblr media
Translation:  “passes exam without studying”, “bullshitting it”, “no need to study”.  (I think I’ll need one of these lol................................)
The War in Heaven and the False God
Most people have heard the legend of the Biblical War in Heaven of Lucifer and his angels against God. Though when young, I had always felt that the story was kept suspiciously short and lacked much sense. We are told of the angels not possessing much free-will, but also how could these divine beings suddenly just turn evil, as we are told? Due to these suspicions that there was more to the story than was told (as it is often said “the victors get to write history”), I decided to connect with Lucifer and other demons in order to learn from their perspective. This gradually led me to become a Luciferian and be told the full story of the War in Heaven.
The supreme deity is not Jehovah; he is neither all-powerful, all-wise, or benevolent. The supreme deity is the Source, the formless consciousness that has existed before all things and created the first gods of this Universe (the first among them being Lucifer). Though in order to create, the Source had to create from themself their female counterpart, the Queen of Heaven (who is formless as well). These two energies together create harmony and allow creation to come into being. The Source and Queen of Heaven have both been known throughout many different cultures under different names. For instance, the Source has been known as Atum in Egypt, Brahman in India, Olodumare in Yoruba, etc. The Queen of Heaven has been known as Adi Parashakti in India.
At the beginning, the Cosmic Egg was formed in the Void with the assistance of elder deities. When the egg broke open, the gods Eros and Lucifer emerged from it- Eros being love and Lucifer being light. Though they were meant to exist separately; Eros remained within the Void and Lucifer dwelled alone within the Universe for many ages until the other gods were created by the Source. Among these first gods were the Angels Mikael, Raphael, Uriel, and others. Lilith was created last among them as the embodiment of the Queen of Heaven (a smaller and less-powerful copy of Herself in order to act within the Universe and marry Lucifer). With these first deities, Lucifer the First-Born became their leader and assisted in the creation of other spiritual races. Overtime, more gods were created by both the Source and through sexual union between the elder deities.
It was during the early stages of the Earth when the aeonic god Jehovah came. The aeonic gods are extremely powerful deities who are tasked with co-creating the material and metaphysical Universe; they are normally peaceful, but for some reason, Jehovah came seeking even more power. His goal was to usurp the Throne of the Universe and take command of an entire planet, which ended up being Earth due to a specific species that was being created here: humans. The humans were a younger race and felt insecure about their lack of magickal prowess compared to the other species on Earth like the elves; this caused them to become deeply envious and greedy as a race. Jehovah had destroyed the ecosystem of several different planets on his way to Earth, causing life to be destroyed on them. As he arrived to Earth to claim it, Lucifer led a revolt against him and was followed by millions of deities and other entities. This battle was terrible for everyone since Jehovah’s great powers allowed him to be able to drain energy from spirits or even kill them at will. Countless entities lost their lives trying to destroy Jehovah, but to no avail. The arch-dragoness goddess, Tiamat, who had created Earth’s lifeforms in the sea, even gave her life to help empower Gaia against the tyrant god.
When many spirits were destroyed and the survivors were crippled, Jehovah took them and threw them into the nightmarish land of torment called Hell. This is the realm that is far away from the Source’s divine light. Due to this, the deities and other beings who were sent here had their essence transformed by this horrible realm; causing them to become dark and more intense in appearance and presence. Their wings became black and they grew horns; some developed red eyes, spikes, claws, or other monstrous features. Though overall, they remained beautiful, only in a darker way. They became known as “demons”, now restricted from the heavens by Jehovah, who had now claimed the Throne. The demons were in great pain and suffering, as they had all lost family and friends in the battle, as well as their divine homeland. However, they had not lost their drive to destroy the tyrant who had taken everything from them. The three most powerful demons became High Kings of Hell and created their kingdoms where their people could live and train to continue the great War. These High Kings of Hell are Lucifer (the most powerful and wise), Satan, and Leviathan. Though these mighty rebels were soon falsely accused of being evil and representing things that were actually opposite of them (Lucifer being lies when he is truth, Lilith being infertility when she is life/motherhood, Beelzebub being gluttony when he is health, Mammon being greed when he is generosity, etc).
Overtime, Jehovah was able to win humans over to his side by pretending to be the Source and manipulating them to believe that they were special if they followed him. Little did the humans know that their sins in life would never be forgiven, as Jehovah did not care for what they would end up facing in the Underworld or in Hell. It is also no surprise that the main people who forwarded monotheism were war-lords; all seeking power and dominion over others (see Emperor Constantine, Mohammad, and the ancient Jews who dismantled Canaan and killed the pagans there). With these new religions that inspired hate and fear towards other religions, blind faith towards scripture, and hatred towards any spirits that aren’t “holy”, the world gradually became swallowed by the tyrant’s influence. Pagans were massacred en-masse and their temples, holy sites, stories, statues, cultures, and more were all destroyed. Churches and mosques were built on top of sacred temple sites of polytheists and they were faced with the choice of either dying or converting. And with that, the entire world changed and became a shadow of its former glory.
Yet all of this was allowed to occur by the Source since existence has always revolved around evolution, and no evolution can exist within perfection. In order to allow wisdom and other attributes to develop, as well as to teach important lessons, all beings are allowed to endure suffering. This suffering, if overcome, holds the key to rising to greater potentials. And so Jehovah was not immediately struck down, but was constantly faced with other forms of justice from not only the gods of vengeance, but also from receiving loads of karmic debt.
Back in the ancient times when other races still roamed this planet, such as the elves, giants, scorpion-men, nagas, and dragons, we had magick here in the physical. When magick was performed, it was actually able to be seen and even deities were able to manifest in the physical with ease. Though in order to keep humans blind, Jehovah destroyed the magickal nodes that surrounded the Earth and ordered his humans to destroy the sacred sites that helped channel magick. Then the other targets were the races of Earth that were not human, since they were less malleable to his will due to their advanced wisdom. The humans were already greedy and envious, so they were easily encouraged to wage war against any race that was different from them. The elves were brutally slaughtered, raped, and enslaved until they all died out; the same happened to many other species. When the humans began killing the dragons and sphinxes, who acted as wise mentors and guardians of the Earth, these mighty beings decided to leave the humans behind to fend for themselves for the rest of their existence. And still in hatred, the humans decided to record the dragons as if they were greedy and savage.
Overtime, everything was set in place for Jehovah, but the demons and other entities continued to fiercely fight against him over the ages, and they still do. The tyrant god has never cared for any human who has followed him, as he seeks only power and destruction of other deities. He takes the credit for the miracles other deities perform for worthy humans, allowing such people to assume what they want about him. The gods who he killed do not die forever though, as spiritual death is different. But it often takes decades, hundreds of years, or in some cases, a million years, in order for them to reform. Yet, to most humans, the other gods are nothing more than legend now. They watch over the Earth still, helping anyone who seeks them and fighting to make the world how it was back during the Golden Age. Though it will never be the same after all the ages of terrible destruction and death. Even the soul of our planet, Gaia, has been asleep for many years due to the trauma of losing so many of her children.
For those who would argue that the demons could simply just be lying to me about these events, it does not explain why they have helped me to better myself or how they have protected my loved ones in times of need. They ask nothing of me but to evolve as a person and to show open-mindedness towards their harsh history. I do not hold hatred or bias towards those involved in monotheistic religions (unless they act oppressive), I only have hatred towards the religions themselves and their toxic teachings. As well as the hypocrisy of how they destroyed so many cultures and people, all while incorporating their mythology into their own scriptures.
If we want to learn the truth, we first must question everything we already believe in and then speak to the spirits, as they know far more than we ever will. You can ask any deity you like and they will all say that they hate Jehovah, for he has pulled the veil of ignorance over this world in order to consume it. For anyone who truly seeks answers, keep this account by the demons in mind and ask any gods you want about the truth. Each deity and demon I spoke to said the same, and all had lost family due to this traumatic War against the tyrant god. These religions save no-one, we must take accountability and strive to become better without begging for forgiveness all the time and expecting mercy to be handed out just for bowing down to a god who kills those who defy him. All scriptures of monotheism are nothing but books of manipulation and holier-than-thou mentality; this creates corruption and false spirituality in the end.
