Simon Riley x Dog Sitter! Reader pt. 2

Warnings: light cursing, light nsfw, Simon being the tiniest bit of a creep
A/N: so originally this was just a fluffy thought I had a few weeks ago... it's slowly turning into a longer, multi-chapter series, and Simon is a bit darker than I had intended him to be... but the story is still going to stay relatively normal (there will be full NSFW further down the line, lol)!

Sure enough, Simon had emailed you by Tuesday afternoon. You noticed how... unprofessional it was. Not that he had been rude or obscene, but it was obviously written by someone who never had to write many emails for his career.
here is riley's routine. she likes walks, usually 3 or 4 a day. she eats one scoop in the morning and one at night. she doesn't finish her food all at once, but she'll come back to it. if you're gonna give her more cookies, just two per day. fill water every morning. around the house, if you could just dust and clean up any dog hair, that would be great. let me know if meeting me tomorrow at 0900 for the key works. I ship out thursday. thanks.

You chewed your thumb nail, reclining on your couch with a confused expression. Was he irritated with you for some reason? He didn't show it at the interview if he did have any hostile feelings... you reminded yourself that he was a rather gruff man, and maybe that just bled into his written words, too. You rolled your shoulders and started working out your reply.
Hello Simon! Tomorrow works perfect for me, I'll be there by 9 am!
Does Riley have any favorite places she likes to go? Any particular spots or trails she enjoys? Also, are there any rules you have for her, like being on the couch? Is she ok going to the dog park? Lastly, does she take any medications I should be aware of?

You sent the message, sighing and dropping your head back against the arm of the sofa. You were honestly thankful that you'd gotten the job, even if Simon was a rather stiff client. You finally quit your shitty job, and while you did still have babysitting your niece and nephew, you never charged for that - the only time you were "paid" for it was when you took them out somewhere fun, and your sister forced you to accept money for the admission fee.
So this gig fell into your lap at the perfect time. And the fact that you had beat every other person Simon had interviewed made your ego soar. It wouldn't be a bad idea to make a career out of this, you thought.
Your phone dinged - you held it above your face, and saw that Simon had already responded. You sat upright and opened the email.
she only takes aspirin when her leg flares up. no more than twice a day. no favorite trails, we just go around the block a few times. she can sit on the couch, my bed too, but she'll need help getting up. no human food is the only other rule. never took her to a dog park, but if you really want to, that's fine. she's good with other dogs.
Simon.
You frowned. Walking the same block every day, multiple times each day, sounded awful. It wasn't even close to animal neglect, but you couldn't imagine walking the same route every single time. If it didn't drive Riley insane, it certainly would for you.
You read back over the email, your eyes lingering on "if her legs flare up." Simon had never discussed Riley having arthritis with you - and you sincerely hoped that was the reason she had leg pain, and nothing else. You made a mental note to ask him about it tomorrow as you began to write your reply.

"Here's the basement." Simon said, leading you down the stairs and into a dullish room. It had a cheaply-manufactured desk, what appeared to be a dining chair (not matching the dining set upstairs), a stuffed bookshelf, and some cardboard boxes filled with paper. A fan stood in the far corner, and next to it was the washing room. Much like what he had shown you of the rest of the house, it was bland and drab.
You looked around, letting out a polite noise of approval. Truth be told, Simon's life seemed awfully boring to you. Your mother had always told you that military men were always overly practical, in more than just home decor. They never cared much for the environment around them, as long as there was no mold, or anything similar. But you had never expected it to be so brutally true.
You knew he had a life outside of his home - from the way he described it, he was usually deployed more often than he was in his own home country. But you wondered - what did he do for fun, besides watch the telly? Did he have friends, and were they all like him? Any hobbies?
"If for whatever reason y' need to clean up a stain, you can find solution in there." He said, pointing to the washer room. "Other than that, nothin' much to see down 'ere."
You followed him as he trudged back up the stairs. Riley was sat upright on the floor, watching you and Simon move about the house with an observant expression.
"The only other things I'll ask you to do is hoover n' dust when it looks like it needs it." He said, leaning against the kitchen counter. "There really isn't much else t' do; of course, if you do see anything that needs fixin' you can always text me." He rolled his head from side to side, wincing as he worked out a crick in his neck. "Might not answer immediately, but I'll see it."
You nodded, standing in the walkway of the kitchen. Even with him leaning against the counter, muscles hidden under his sweatshirt, he was huge. For a brief moment, you imagined what he looked like on the field, dressed in his uniform and holding a gun - but you quickly shooed the thought from your mind before it had the chance to latch on and fester. "Gotcha. And just so I know, do you let Riley sleep with you?"
Simon paused in confusion before he responded. "Come again?"
"Like- you know, if I crash on the couch, is she allowed up with me?" You said, shifting your weight. You couldn't quite tell if Simon was irked by your question, or if he was genuinely confused.
He paused again. "Uh, yea, that's fine. If y' don't mind waking up covered in 'er slobber."
You laughed. "Nah, I'm used to it. A little drool never bothered me. Although, if I do need to wash up, am I alright to use the shower? Or would you rather I use my own back at my flat?"
Suddenly, it clicked in Simon's head. You were planning on sleeping at his house.
He had assumed you would just stop by for walks and meals - he didn't expect you to actually live here while he was gone, and he wasn't sure how it made him feel. He'd never had anyone else spend the night. Hell, no one ever visited, besides the rare occasions of the rest of the 141 stopping by. Even then, they never stayed for longer than a conversation or two.
But, once he took a second to think about it, he realized it might be better if you did stay - at least, while he was on missions. Riley would be bored out of her mind if she was alone that long, especially after spending the past several weeks with Simon constantly there. It would be good for someone to be there when he wasn't, and you seemed like you would be the best person for that, of course.
"Sure, 's fine." He said, rubbing the back of his head. "Just don't touch my shit in there."
"Don't worry about that..." You said quietly, "catch me dead and cold before I touch a 3-in-1 anything."
He chuckled and rolled his eyes. It was refreshing that you could handle his gruffness - most people treated him like a landmine, never wanting to say the wrong thing and set him off. You seemed to have taken life by the horns, like you weren't afraid to bite back at someone. He wondered if that was all for show, or if you really would snap back if he was to test you...
He pushed himself off the counter and reached into the drawer behind him, pulling out a spare key. He walked over to you and held it out. You were just about to take it, when he suddenly yanked it back.
You faltered. "Sorry...?"
"You lose this key..." Simon began lowly, "n' I'll frame you for murder. Understood?"
You gaped, mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water. He didn't really mean that... did he? You waited for him to laugh and say he was just joking... but he never did. His eyes bored into yours so intensely, making you shiver, as he waited for you to answer.
"Y-yes, sir. Understood." You said, voice wavering a bit.
He grunted in satisfaction, then handed you the key. You let out the breath you had been holding, then cautiously took the key, before immediately attaching it to your lanyard. You didn't want to take any chances at losing it - not after Simon's threat. You took a deep breath and smiled at him, trying to dust the exchange off of your shoulders.
"You can come 'round tomorrow after o' nine hundred, I'll be out by then." He said, turning sideways to moce past you and heading towards the door. You followed behind and rubbed Riley's head when you passed her; she let out a contented sound.
"Feel free t' use the kitchen if you'll be stayin' overnight." He opened the door for you and leaned against it.
"Will do, thank you!" You chirped, hovering on the landing outside of his house, right were you were two days ago. "Thank you for showing me around - good luck on your- mission- deployment, thingamajig!"
He huffed. "Promise I will, luv."
Your spine tingled in response to his comment. Get it together, don't get your knickers in a twist over a client. You thought. You straightened your posture and cleared your throat.
"Well, see you around!" You said with a smile, then hopped down the steps to your car.
Simon waved, taking a moment to watch you pull out of his driveway. He shut the door and leaned back against it, exhaling slowly through his nostrils.
He was an observant man - he had to be, with his occupation. Your reaction to being called "luv" didn't fly over his head. And it's not like Simon didn't know the effect he had on women... he knew how he looked, how he presented himself, and he saw the reactions it got him.
But with you, something felt different. He saw your reaction, and a part of him wanted to chase after it. To see what you would do if he continued to apply pressure to your weak spots. Would you blush? Would you call him out? Would you drop the gig altogether?
He thought about how easily the word "sir" had rolled off of your tongue. He thought about how you would look, all tuckered out on his couch, donned in whatever pajamas you decided to wear, your face peaceful and expression soft as you slept - he imagined you in his shower, the room filled with warm steam and the scent of your shampoo, water hitting your skin as you-
Riley barked, making Simon jolt where he stood. She stared at him, ears turned to the side as she whined. She could always tell when he began to dissociate, and knew just as much as he did that it wasn't a good sign.
Simon sighed, running a hand down his face. "Get it together, fuckin' creep." He muttered to himself. "I need a bloody hobby, f' Christ's sake..."
He blamed it on the upcoming mission. He would typically stress about it beforehand, and if there was anything else that could occupy his mind, he would fixate on it. Right now, unfortunately, you were the victim. But he buried it deep down into his subconscious - it wasn't fair to you.
He pushed himself off of the door and headed towards the washroom, adjusting his crotch as he went. He figured he should at least tidy it up a bit, since you would be using it. The only other people who had been in there were Johnny and Captain Price, and of course, they never cared if there were trimmers on the counter, or if the mirror had splotches from toothpaste residue.
Hopefully, he'd forget all about you - at least, while he was on the mission.

Various Anime Boys: Being Told "I love you" For the First Time (Part 4!)
Full disclaimer about this part, this is a partial revision of the first part, I decided to go more in depth with the first few guys I did :) I will continue to revise the rest of the boys I did in the first part <3 Please enjoy!

Satoru Gojo
(love of my life <3)
“Y/NNNNNNNNN. Let’s go do sooommmeeethinnnnngggg. This is boooooring.” Satoru whined, reclining on your couch.
“You’re the one who decided to come over when you knew damn well I’m working on my thesis, Satoru.” You replied, brows furrowed in concentration as you typed away at your desk. The deadline for your paper was fast approaching and you were stressed, to say the least. That much Satoru could tell.
He stretched himself out, long limbs dangling off the sides of the plush sofa. “Why d’you need to do this stuff anyway? All it does is stress you out n’ keep you away from me.”
You had been friends with Satoru for years now, having met him back when you worked at a cake shop. You had commented on how his spending there would finance your whole university tuition, and it had gone from there.
He was handsome, of course. But also funny, endearing, and so unbearably annoying. But he did have a heart of gold, you had to admit, and a very blunt manner of speaking to say the least. He didn’t mince words when it came to people he didn’t like, and that was something that you admired. He spent so much money on you, too; you couldn’t understand why. Satoru insisted that he was merely giving you what you deserved, but some of the gifts had been of the more sentimental and intimate variety, like the custom made locket necklace he had made for you, when you had mentioned your grandmother had one just like it.
Suffice it to say, you had feelings for him, strong ones. But a small part of you had doubts, which would creep up just when you had mustered the strength to tell him. Satoru Gojo was a beautiful, strapping young man, perfect in nearly every way. How could he ever see you as anything more than a friend?
You snorted. “If I don’t get this in I’ll fail and I’ll have to repeat the whole year, and that’ll set me back. I need to make something of myself, Toru.”
He rolled off the couch and strolled over to your desk, placing his hands on your shoulders. “What if you took a break though? Just for tonight? C’mon, I miss you.”
You looked over your shoulder to see glimmering big blue eyes peering at you, a soft pout on Satoru’s lips. “You’re such a child,” You sighed, but relented for now. After all, he was here and he was doing nothing but distracting you. And a break did sound nice. “Fine. What do you wanna do?” You asked, resting back in your desk chair.
“Something fun.”
“Like…?”
“Iunno, let’s go out! Let’s see what’s playing at the theatre or if they got my favourite cake back in stock at the shop!” He pulled you out of your chair, grinning.
“Oh, of course.” You rolled your eyes, but you did enjoy seeing him smile. He was annoying as hell, but you had to admit…it was kinda cute. You stood, going to grab your keys. “Or, we could go stock up on snacks, find some dumb movies, come back here and stay up til 4 AM.” You suggested with a smile. Satoru’s smile widened and he grasped your hand eagerly.
“Yes! You’re a genius, Y/N! Let’s go!” He started to pull you toward the door.
“Hah, I love you, Satoru, you dork.”
He froze in place, looking back at you with huge eyes. “Wha?”
You blinked. “What?”
“You said you love me.”
“I did?” You looked confused.
“Yeah, you did.” He turned and smooshed your cheeks in his palms. “Do you mean it? You’re not just pulling my leg, are you? ‘Cause that would be beyond cruel, Y/N. I have a heart too, y’know!”
You chewed on your lip, heat rising in your face. You did love him. He was an idiot, but you didn’t want him to be anyone else’s idiot. Slowly you nodded, placing a hand over one of his.
His blue eyes softened and he leaned in, resting his forehead against yours. “Tell me again.” He murmured.
“I love you, Satoru Gojo.” You replied in a whisper, your eyes half-lidded but still locked on his.
Without second thought his lips met yours and he kissed you tenderly, his fingers tucking through your hair. You swore you could hear his heart thudding in his chest. When he pulled away, hesitantly, he smiled and grabbed your hand again.
“Dunno if we’re gonna be watching all too much of the movies,” He said with a wiggle of his brows. “But we can still try, I’m a good multitasker.” He looked back at you, his grin widening. “And, in case it wasn’t obvious, Y/N, I love you, too. I always have.”

Dabi / Touya Todoroki
(I love him sm, he deserved so much better... :( )
You were busy doing your university homework when you heard a tap on your window. Yep, it was 3 AM, about that time. Without hesitation you got up and went to the window, sliding it open.
Hazy blue eyes met yours as booted feet landed on the floor. “Thought you were gonna leave me out here to fuckin’ freeze.” Dabi said, grumbling as he maneuvered his way in.
“I came here as soon as I heard you,” You argued back. Never a thank you from Dabi, even though he had been crashing at your place for the past six months. You both had met almost a year ago, when the League of Villains had crossed your path on your way home from work one night. Their leader, some guy with a hand on his face, wanted to kill you in case you were gonna narc on them, but for some reason, a couple of the others in the group had stopped him. Dabi wouldn't stop staring at you that night.
Since then he'd show up at your place every night around 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning. He claimed it was because the cops and heroes would never suspect him to be hiding out in a random civilian's home, but you were somewhat suspicious of the validity of that. After all, he'd said it'd only be for a couple weeks and here you were six months later.
“Is your hot water back on again?” He asked casually, kicking off his boots. “I fuckin’ smell.”
“What kind of trouble did you get up to tonight?” You asked, wrinkling your nose. “You smell like a lawnmower.”
Dabi snorted. “None of your damn business, brat.” His words were harsh but his tone was almost tired. “Is it on again or not?”
You nodded, “Yeah, it's on. Washed the clothes you left the other night, too.”
Once again, not a thank you in sight as he went off to your bathroom, shutting the door behind him. You sighed. What were you doing? Why were you going to all this trouble for someone like him? You could just as easily lock your window and cut him off, but you didn't want to. A part of you felt that he needed someone to help him, be there for him. You could tell it was hard for him to show any sort of emotion other than gruff and bothered…and you could sense he had more pain and heartbreak than most people realized.
You went back to work on your homework, quietly writing away in your notebook. You tried to ignore the sound of the bathroom door opening and Dabi walking down the hallway.
Warm breath fanned across the back of your neck suddenly and you shivered in response.
“Why do you bother with this crap?” Dabi asked, leaning over your shoulder. He smelled like your body wash. You tried to hide the telltale blush growing on your face.
“Counter question. Why are you here, Dabi? It's been six months.”
“You know why, dumbass.”
You turned in your seat. “You're here every night now, you use my shower, sleep on my couch, eat my food, and I don't get any sort of appreciation or even a thank you. I'm harboring a fucking criminal in my apartment and you don't seem to be bothered.”
Dabi raised an eyebrow. “Yknow I could ask the same of you. Why do you keep letting me in, then? Washing my clothes, too, getting me those snacks I told you I like…why do you fuckin seem to care so much?!”
“Because I'm in love with you!” You blurted suddenly, hands balled into fists.
Dabi stood there, stunned. He rubbed the back of his neck. “You really are nuts, then.”
You breathed out a laugh, tears stinging your eyes. Turning back to your work, you tried to focus on your writing again. “Just leave me alone, Dabi.”
“Nah, don't think I will.” A hand slid along your shoulder. “Put that shit away and look at me, for God's sake.”
With a heavy sigh, you did as he said, only to be met with rough lips on yours. A sound of surprise escaped your throat but you melted into the kiss, fingers finding Dabi's damp black hair.
“There's a million places I could hide out,” he said against your mouth. “But I keep coming back here. Something pulls me back every time. I've never felt what love is, brat, but when I think of what it must feel like, I think of you.”

Giyuu Tomioka
(T_T i just wanna hug him and give him the love he deserves)
You had never seen Giyuu smile in the time you had known him. You two were close friends, but time spent with the Water Hashira was quiet and tranquil. You knew it was just the way he was, and didn’t mind it, but you had begun to wonder if he ever smiled at all. In the time that you had known each other, you had formed a deep bond and understanding of one another. It took you a long time to realize that you had feelings for him, but you could never tell him. It would ruin everything you both already had.
You two were returning from a mission one night, battered and exhausted from the fight you had just endured, and were intent on finding some place to sleep for the night. Ubuyashiki’s mansion and the Butterfly Manor were too far away, so it seemed like the only option for you both was to find an inn to rest in for the night, and then you could return properly the next morning.
You both finally found a place to stay for the night, but the owner of the inn charged you two an exorbitant amount of yen to stay. Giyuu huffed and, irritated, paid the man, before leading the way to your room silently. He had been dead silent the whole time you had traveled back, and this time, you were worried. Normally he would ask if you were okay or if you needed anything, but this time he was quiet.
“…Are you serious?” Giyuu asked, to nobody in particular, when he opened the sliding door. Only one futon.
You looked over his shoulder at the room and sighed. You had been looking forward to just going to bed after the hell you two had been through.
Giyuu sighed and ran a callused hand over his face, his blue eyes narrowed.
You glanced at him. “…Giyuu…You take the futon, I can just…figure something else out.”
“No.”
You raised an eyebrow at him, “What?”
“I’m not letting you sleep on the floor after what we just went through. We’ll just have to…sleep together, I suppose.” He looked away quickly, a small blush on his face.
“Sleep together?”
“Not…not like that,” He replied quickly, his face turning from pink to full-blown red. “Just…just sleeping. Beside each other.”
“If you’re okay with that, Giyuu, then I am.” You offered him a small smile, momentarily placing a hand on his arm as you entered the room. He was incredibly tense.
You both bathed first, one at a time, then returned to the room. Giyuu had gone first, and when you came back, he was perched on the futon, his haori and Demon Slayer Corps uniform folded neatly on the floor with his nichirin sword laid atop. He still had his underclothes on, but his torso was bare. You paused, studying his bare back and the various scars that adorned his pale skin. Your heart hurt when you suddenly realized how much Giyuu must have been through. Was that why he was so quiet, and distanced himself from everyone else?
“You’re letting all the cold in,” Giyuu said suddenly, startling you.
“Oh. Right. Sorry…” You quickly shut the sliding door behind you, setting your own clothing down on the floor before crawling under the thick comforter and settling on the futon. It felt heavenly to finally rest your weary, sore muscles.
Giyuu watched you for a moment before following your lead, settling in beside you. His blue eyes scanned your face.
“…What?” You asked, “Did I miss a spot of dirt on my face or something?”
“No,” Giyuu replied, a small tinge of pink rising in his face.
“Giyuu…”
“I’m…going to sleep. Goodnight, Y/N.” He said quietly, starting to roll onto his other side, so he would be facing away from you. You caught him by the arm, however, stopping him.
“…Have you been doing okay, lately? You’re way quieter than usual…I’m getting a bit worried about you.” You told him, your eyes meeting his again.
The Water Hashira sighed, “…I’ve been thinking.”
“About?”
“You.”
“Me?” You looked surprised. “Why?”
“…Because you terrify me.” He replied, and if you hadn’t seen the look on his face you would have thought he was joking.
“…Why?”
“It…doesn’t matter. Let’s just go to sleep, okay.” He sighed, closing his eyes.
Something came over you then. You didn’t know what it was, but you acted without really thinking it through first. Your hands cupped his face and you gently kissed him. It only lasted for a moment, but when you pulled away, Giyuu was looking at you with wide, stunned eyes.
His mouth moved, trying to form words, but nothing came out. “Wha…”He finally gasped out. “Why’d you…”
“…Because I love you, Giyuu. And I didn’t want to say anything because I was worried that it would ruin everything, and I’m sorry if it has, I just couldn’t—” You were cut off by another kiss, one instigated by him this time.
You gazed at him in surprise.
“You terrify me,” Giyuu said, holding your face in his hands. “Because I feel things for you that have been foreign to me for so long. I was…too afraid to say anything.” His lips pulled into a small but genuine smile. The first smile you had ever seen from him.
“I love you, too, Y/N.”

You had experienced perhaps the most challenging day on set: broken equipment, multiple re-shoots due to technical glitches, two team members falling ill (whom you personally ensured were taken care of), an angry and frustrated director due to the events, and to top it off, you were dealing with the discomfort of your period. The day seemed to drag on for what felt like 127 hours.
Finally back in the comfort of your hotel room, you indulged in a relaxing long bath and changed into your cozy Adidas set before sinking into your bed. The events of the day kept replaying in your mind—the things you could have avoided, the areas you could have improved upon—and as you glanced at the clock, it read 2:00 am.
Knowing that the next day was a scheduled day off, most people were out partying or getting drunk, seeking solace from the day's stress. However, you were too frustrated to be in the company of others, even though Jenny insisted that you should make her some company.
Despite the urge to stay in, the thought of being confined pushed you to venture outside onto a small deck besides your accommodations. It was a comfortable space, furnished with sofas, and offered a great view. And you could smoke. An old habit you had long given up, yet this day warranted just one cigarette. Miraculously, you managed to resist the temptation of smoking an entire pack in one go.
 
As you settled in, you lit your cigarette and gazed up at the stars, which sparkled brilliantly in the night sky. You attempted to identify the constellations as time drifted by: the Big Dipper, Perseus, and Andromeda. You even spotted Saturn and Jupiter among the twinkling celestial bodies.
Watching the smoke from your cigarette drift upwards, you sang softly to yourself:
 
"Stars are never sleeping
Dead ones and the living
Hmmm hmmm hm hm hmmm
And they know just what we do
That we toss and turn at night
They're waiting to make their moves
For the stars are out tonight"
 
Lighting another cigarette and reclining on the chaise, you glanced at the clock. It read 3:24 AM. Lost in your thoughts, you continued to hum the tune, the lyrics resonating with the late-night atmosphere.
"You always seemed like a Bowie fan." A male voice suddenly pierced the quiet night. Scared, you nearly tumbled off the chaise, the cigarette forgotten in the commotion, your heart pounding in your chest.
"What the hell, PEDRO!" you exclaimed, still attempting to steady your breath.
"Sorry… I didn't mean to scare you," Pedro apologized, taking a seat beside you. As the filming progressed, you and him began to bond, discovering a shared love for strong coffee that led to more frequent conversations.
"Insomnia?" he asked.
"Yes, it's been a rough day," you replied, giving him some space. "Sit." Despite the initial discomfort, you found yourself growing accustomed to his proximity as you conversed.
"I wasn't around today, so you missed me, I know," he remarked as he lit his cigarette, "No need to hide."
You sat with your knees drawn up to your chest, offering a small smile in response. "Definitely, Pedro. Definitely." You knew he was trying to lift your spirits, and just as you had grown accustomed to his mannerisms, he had grown accustomed to yours. He knew you were giving your best.
 
Sensing your subdued mood, he inched closer and inquired softly, "Hey babe, what's going on inside that head of yours?"
“Babe? That’s a new one,” you replied, surprised. "No big deal, just a whirlwind of thoughts and overwhelm," you said, gazing up at the stars.
"That's your usual girl… but is there something else?" He pressed gently.
"Oh… Today is the worst day ever," you confessed, the unbridled emotions of the day taking hold as tears welled in your eyes. "Nothing went right; people got yelled at because of my incompetence. As their leader, I should have known how to avoid this shit," you expressed, frustration evident in your voice. "I don't even know why I took this job man." Your arms remained tightly wound around your knees, the weight of the day and unregulated hormones bearing down on you.
You missed your actual home and your friends, and you also felt guilty that your team took the blame for every problem, despite your logical side reminding you that the defective equipment you received couldn't withstand the cold weather. Overwhelmed by it all, you couldn't hold back the tears any longer.
"I know how it feels—I mean, the frustration... Come here, it’s ok," he said tenderly, aware of your discomfort with physical contact but recognizing your need for comfort. "Hey, I know you're not one for physical touch, but I don’t think it will hurt you now." Reluctantly, you allowed his arms to envelop you as you surrendered to your tears. "Just let it out, baby... Relax”
"I'm so sorry," you apologized through sobs as your head found its place against his chest, feeling the gentle caress of his fingers through your hair.
"For what?" he questioned softly.
"You came to smoke, relax, you know, and now you have..." the tears resurfaced.
"To be with you?” He answered laughing, “You don't have to apologize for anything." He reassured calmly.
"Why..." your words were interrupted by your sobs, "not... out... why... here?" You clung tightly to him.
"Huh, I wanted to have a good night's sleep, which I was enjoying by far. You know I’m a terrible sleeper, so I came out here to smoke, as I sometimes do," he explained, his fingers still gentle in your hair and the dampness of your tears soaking into both of your clothes. He said something else, but you couldn’t understand.
 
Lifting your head to meet his gaze, you observed an unfamiliar tenderness in his eyes, his hands continuing to caress your hair with a gentle touch that you didn't want to be stopped.
"Gosh, I must look terrible, don't I?" You voiced your inner tought, getting a laugh from him as he teasingly replied, "You're looking like a sad gremlin, which is kinda cute, i’m sorry."
His laughter was contagious, and you found yourself joining in. With his arms still around you, you settled back against his chest again and whispered shyly, "Can we stay like this a little longer?"
"As long as you want... As long as you need," he reassured, adjusting your positions for comfort. Whispering in spanish, he added, "Considering this is the only way you let me get closer."
Although you understood his words, you chose not to let him know, not wanting to disrupt the moment. Instead, as holding him tighter, you opted to heed the advice from the 80s song and simply enjoy the silence, as this very moment, together, was something you just found out to want just as much as him.

Nightmare stared up at the ceiling, unable to get himself to sleep. The boys were cuddled into the nest of blankets and pillows he had built for them. Lyra was sleeping on the sofa in her own set of pajamas. As for Nightmare, he was in the recliner and in his own black flannel pajamas that she had felt “compelled” to buy for him.
At this point, it was apparent he wouldn’t get any sleep. So he looked at the time.

Well, there was no sense in just lying on the recliner, staring at the ceiling. His mind was swimming with too many thoughts for sleep, not that Nightmare needed it now. He can go days without sleep without feeling tired or having ill effects. Carefully he climbed off the recliner, knowing full well that putting the leg rest down would cause a loud sound that would wake everyone. In the darkness of the room, he melded into the shadows and made a silent exit.
First, he stopped off at his room to change clothes. Once dressed, he went to his office to get some work done, but he couldn’t even focus on that.
What if there was no cure?
He may have to raise his henchmen….
Nightmare could handle immature adults, but can he raise four tiny baby bones?
Will they be the same as he knew them?
Will their old memories return as they get older, and how will they react to those?

Sci’s AU is an hour faster, but he didn’t plan to pick him up this early. But then, he couldn’t wait that much longer.
After writing a quick note that he placed in the kitchen, Nightmare left to pick up the young scientist. It will be good for him to face matters that science can not explain. Exiting his portal, he looked around the lab. He saw the Sans in question sitting at a desk, slumped over some papers. The soft snoring made the guardian chuckle softly.
“Ah, it seems sleep has finally caught up with you,” He mused in a soft tone as he walked closer. Looking over Sci’s shoulder, he read over the notes. All were about the mice and the orange substance. Speaking of the mice….
He saw several cages with mice and looked in at them. After a moment, he spotted the ones marked with a purple spot so Sci could easily find them. … Nightmare did not know enough about these mice to understand what to look for.
“mmm…,” Sci started to sit up and stretch.
“Good morning, friend,” Nightmare said smugly as he looked down at the young scientist.
“oh! uh, nightmare, i wasn’t expecting you this early… heh… you wouldn’t happen to be reconsidering what you said yesterday?” Sci chuckled nervously.
“Hmmm… Sci, what did you call me again?” Nightmare feigned thoughtfulness as he tapped his chin.
“n-nightmare?” Sci was trying to play innocent.
“No… it was not that. What to try again?” Nightmare grinned.
“look, nightmare, i’m useful for you here, and you know it. so, please… let me just keep doing my research,” Sci said as he turned back to his notes.
“Now, if I did that, you would not learn your lesson, and you may dare to call me that nickname again. Besides, I am positive that this experience would be good for you,” Nightmare chided playfully before curling a tendril around the scientist. “Come along, little lab rat, time for you to learn something new outside of these walls.”
“i rather like my four walls, thank you,” Sci protested, but Nightmare ignored him.
He opened and walked through the portal to the AU in question. On the outside, nothing looked out of place with this AU. The odd spark of magic in the air set it apart from the rest of them to the dark skeleton. Magic was usual in all AUs, but the magic was heavier, darker, and more tangible this time. Nightmare could almost taste it in the air. Amusing. Though magic is not his domain, so he gained no benefit.
“Well, my friend,” Nightmare said as he set the scientist beside him. “Tell me, what are your first impressions.”
“well, it’s the underground. ruins, to be exact,” Sci said as he adjusted his glasses.
“True, go on,” Nightmare mused.
Sci sighed and looked around more. “seems no different than any other ruins.”
“Close your eyes, Sci,” Nightmare instructed, “You are a scientist. Use your other senses.”
“right, right…,” Sci closed his eye sockets and put his hands in his lab coat. After a moment, he hummed, “smells like spices… like nutmeg and cinnamon? the ruins are usually described as musty.”
“Good, what else….” Nightmare inquired.
“sounds… too quiet… but that could just be the nature of the ruins? it’s not as populated,” Sci said as he opened his sockets and looked up at Nightmare.
“Hmmm, yes, but that is indeed a good thing to keep in mind, correct?” Nightmare questioned.
“... is this how you train your boys? you’re not thinking of replacing them with me, are you?” Sci questioned.
“Nonsense, lab rat, you are more useful to me in your maze of machines and facts. I am just teaching you an important lesson,” Nightmare chuckled. “Besides, these are skills the boys picked up on their own. Now, close your eyes again. Take in that smell and sound and how the air feels, and then tell me how you feel.”
“how i feel? …as in emotionally? that’s subjective,” He said with a frown, but Nightmare gestured for him to go on. Rolling his eyelights, Sci did as asked. There was a pause as Sci frowned. “it’s… odd… i feel unwelcomed?”
“Oh?” Nightmare mused.
“it’s like… when you walk up to some coworkers who were talking but become oddly silent and short with you,” Sci frowned. “you just get the feeling they don’t want you there.”
“Good, for this is as you should feel. To magic like what is in this AU, you are indeed unwelcomed. This magic thrives in being unexplainable, in its own enigma. Someone like you reveals it for what it really is, and that weakens it. So, Sci, stay close and observant. You will learn something more as you do. Do you now understand why I wanted you to come?”
“yeah…,” Sci replied.

deancas grandbaby babysitting night. your thoughts?
hiii kath, so i'm answering this many days later i was Not ignoring it, just thinking DEEPLY abt it, rotating little scenarios around in my mind like a rotisserie chicken but also feeling lazy to type it all out RIP
but anyways, here we are now, SO. DEANCAS GRANDBABY BABYSITTING.
so the baby is like, a year old and it's the first time their parents are going out of town for like an extended period of time. like three day anniversary weekend. last time we talked abt this we decided on jack being their parent so yeah, jack and their partner are like, ok! we're leaving the baby with you guys! they're a little nervous to be leaving their baby for so many days but they know it'll be fine. and dean assures them they've got this and please go relax and have fun. dean is. ecstatic. cas is outwardly composed but also very very excited.
like YES they see this baby nearly every other day and live around the corner from them and YES they've had the baby overnight before but. this is /three whole days/ of being in grandparent mode !!! there's so much they want to do.
cas is like. "i've written a detailed itinerary." dean is like, "cas, babies are unpredictable. you can't plan things, we gotta go with the flow." cas ignores that and adds another bullet point: 2 PM, picnic in the park.
dean is also a hypocrite because he too is making plans. He's got the new cowboy rocking horse set up in the nursery and a new cowboy hat (the baby has like. an extensive collection of hats at this point).
they walk down the block to pick up the baby on friday morning and take a nice little stroll back to their house. they sit in the garden for a bit. cas put the baby in a floppy sunhat and big sunglasses. dean takes so many pictures and spams the family groupchat. then dean makes lunch, some gourmet smashed peas and other squishy baby things, all homemade. he's got a freezer full of homemade baby food. he gives them little bites of pie. afterwards, NAP TIME. dean falls asleep in his old man recliner with the baby on his chest. cas takes so many pictures. he spends some quiet time reading a book while the two babies (lol) sleep.
then, movie night. they watch toy story. dean put the baby in ANOTHER cowboy hat (a replica of woody's hat, dean has a matching one). dean and cas cry watching the movie because buzz and woody remind them of themselves. dean sings you've got a friend in me to the baby while holding them close to his chest and dancing slow circles around the room. he pulls cas off the sofa with one hand and they dance together, lulling the baby to sleep.
the baby wakes them up at 3AM screaming their strong little lungs out. cas gets up and tells dean to go back to sleep. dean does not go back to sleep but he lays in bed and listens to the soft murmur of cas's voice in the nursery telling the baby stories of creation and facts about animals and his deep rumbling voice soothes the baby back to sleep in no time.
they repeat this for three days straight. the baby ruins so many clothes. three of dean's best flannels are covered in baby spit. there was a catastrophic diaper explosion at the picnic in the park. it's the best three days of their lives thus far. they love being grandparents so much<3

It’s really good news things are moving along with your mobile home. You will be in your new home before the holidays. Pretty much be all moved in and get to enjoy the holidays at your new home and also with family. Will the previous owner install the cabinets before closing? I lived in two different mobile home parks and I loved both of them. I hope you will share pictures when ready. Did you take most of your furniture or are you buying new stuff for your place
I down-sized, never expecting to find a place w/ almost the same square footage as the one I left. Consequently, there's going to be a lotta open space, which is NOT bad. I kept my husband's Steelcase Modular Work Station Modules because they look like a starship command center. No joke. They assemble into a U-shaped arrangement w/ 2 angled-corner workstations attached to 3 tables in 5', 7', & 10' lengths. The work surface is pale mottled grey w/ brushed steel legs & 2 nearly black file cabinets. I plan on putting my computer in one corner & my sewing machine in the other.
I don't plan on having a sofa or a big screen TV. I can stream movies on my large screen monitor or watch them on my laptop in my muted blue velvet recliner.
The walls in the house are already white. I reckon this is gonna look stark until I put up stained wood shelves I packed for my books & decorative objects & cover the walls w/ my collection of framed art. I could also make a statement w/ curtains over the expansive windows. But, I can't decide what statement I feel like making. I'll make up my mind when everything else is in place.
I also kept his bedroom suite w/ SIX pieces, solid honey oak inside & out, which are close to the color of the floors, very 70's w/ rounded corners. That's more than enough to set up 2 bedrooms. In fact, one or more pieces might end up in the living area because I will have nowhere else to put them.
I've also got a dark oak round pedestal table w/ 4 chairs & custom cushions I made for them. And a Danish walnut Mid-Century Modern china hutch to display my collection of Blue Calico china. I'm a person w/ eclectic tastes.
You may notice I don't mention a sofa or side chairs. We never used the ones we had & I gave them to his oldest daughter. When people came to visit, we had extra rolling desk chairs for them to sit inside the circle of our workspace. I'll do the same. Maybe I'll find child-size desk chairs...HA!
