i've done more than enough fuh naff redesigns it's time for charles entertainment cheese and his gang to receive a makeover

what i had in mind while doing this was a (personal dream job) HYPOTHETICAL!!! scenario where somehow i've gone back in time and convinced the execs of showbiz pizza time inc to not only keep both cec and showbiz open, but begin a gimmick wherein we lean into the whole "pizza wars" thing and actively pit the characters against each other in a friendly rivalry sort of deal.

firstly youll probably notice that i replaced munch and pasqually with two ptt characters i like much better- pleasemunchandpasquallylikersdonthurtme- that being crusty and harmony. due to my own personal tastes but also because i think adding a second female member of the animatronic lineup evens things out pretty well.

second, is that they all are brand new incarnations of each character, and have their own blurbs i've decided to write down below under the readmore to explain. because this caption is insanely long already. happy reading!!! the rockafire counterpart to this post is coming shortly. so keep an eye out ;)

FIRST AND FOREMOST is the big man himself!!!! chuck e cheese!!! this chuck is an archetypal rebellious teen and cool kid whose primary hobbies include skateboarding and video games. he's got a sort of arrogant i'm-the-shit attitude about him and he definitely can come off as cocky. but he's not necessarily mean spirited either, he really does care for his friends, he's just full of himself.

now, for his rockafire rival (which you will find all the bots have their direct counterpart on the showbiz side of things) you may expect billy bob because mascots of the restaurant and all. but billy bob actually acts more as a mediator in all this, being the only one who has no rival, instead chuck's is beach bear. which will explain why beach has such an aversion to skateboarding - he associates it with the rat boi! chuck doesnt necessarily have anything personal against beach (because this is all in good fun and not anything malicious at all) but beach does feel like chuck's a bit too stuck up for his liking. and also, he can't stand sore losers, or folks who brag about their accomplishments. chuck in turn thinks beach is a bit of a stick in the mud and goody two shoes who doesnt know how to have REAL fun. again these are all FRIENDLY rivalries so nobody's truly mad at anyone just some reasoning.

secondly my gal helen henny. is the direct opposite of mitzi mozzarella of course, who is the popular girl in their high school and head of the cheerleading squad. helen meanwhile is the nerdy type who gets straight a's and sucks up to the teachers a lot. she doesnt get out much besides doing gigs singing in the pizzeria and otherwise is a bit of a shut in. mitzi thinks helen should loosen up, but helen thinks mitzi should be more focused on her future and realize that after high school "popularity" means nothing. theyll still eventually end up being gay married, but thats not until way after they both have graduated from college in which they will reconnect after a chance meeting in the local in universe starbucks, sparking a slow burn romance that eventually leads to the two being wed. but for now, they simply pass each other in the hallway with a friendly nod and perhaps a light chat about the weather.

crusty is in a sports college on a scholarship playing baseball and is one of the strongest team members on campus. he's more reserved and shy most of the time, but really comes out of his shell and shines on stage singing with the others. his dilemma mirrors high school musical in that he's embarrassed to admit that he loves to perform on stage to his fellow baseball players, who are currently unaware of crusty's thespian side. for his rival, fatz geronimo is actually a professor at crusty's college and crusty thinks it's a bit weird how theyre both performers in rival pizzerias. fatz wishes crusty would own up to his love of both baseball and theatre, sometimes giving him dad lectures about being yourself and you only got one life to live so you better make the most of it, while crusty just wishes the old man would mind his own business and butt out of his personal matters. deep down though he appreciates that at least someone cares about what HE wants though.

jasper t jowls in this era is a he/him lesbian because i say so and i make the rules here. he and harmony are open about them being a pair and are often uber affectionate with each other, in front of guests and their friends and all. they really dont care who sees lol. jasper is a farm dog that puts off his chores to go hang with his girlfriend and their friend group. he'd rather spend his hours practicing the banjo and wooing his lady than doing any sort of work, he's real lazy like that. his family thinks his dreams of being a rockstar are ridiculous and so jasper internalizes this way of thinking when it comes to dook larue, who dreams of being an astro physicist and has the support of all his folks. in reality jasper is jealous of dook not having to deal with criticism from his family and being able to freely follow his passions without outside pressure. dook sees jasper as weak willed and thinks he should grow a backbone, but the space doggo most of all just feels bad for the farm doggo and resents his family for not being supportive of his dreams. still, dook's idea of a pep talk is telling jasper to let his folks know what he REALLY thinks and jasper isnt too fond of the idea.

and finally harmony howlette is the resident ranch coyote!!!! shes an expert at wrangling wild mustangs and taming them and preparing them to be farm horses. shes sassy and blunt and takes no shit. sometimes having a hard time keeping her comments to herself. but shes also sweet and genuine, real down to earth type of gal. its what jasper likes best about her. shes rolfe dewolfe's rival, she thinks hes almost as stuck up as chuck can be but to her at least chuck has redeeming qualities about him. in her mind rolfe is just some washed up comedian that lets his assistant earle pick on him to get a cheap laugh out of the audience. which, rolfe doesnt necessarily deny the part about letting earle pick on him, but he thinks harmony needs to learn to take a joke and worry about herself a little more. he says that having a southern accent and country charm isnt a personality trait and wonders what jasper sees in her.

 "I d-don't know what you're-"

 Another sharp blow and Tommy is feeling saliva and blood dribble from the corner of his mouth. He works hard to maintain his glare.

 "You've grown close"

 Tommy didn't even answer. Was it true? He no longer considered them clients, so maybe this prick was right. But close? Tommy never got too close to his work...

 The man reels back again and Tommy closes his eyes.

 Or: Tommy is an undercover agent for the SBI, the most dangerous mafia in the state. When he gets captured, he can think only of them...

“welcome to the circus!” sleepy boys inc. &co fanfic — chapter 1

hi! this is my first time writing a fanfic, posting an actual thing on tumblr and also the FIRST chapter of my circus au sbi&co fanfic!

this would normally be posted on ao3 but i’m currently waiting for my invitation.. but im very excited to share it with people and my friend recommended posting it on here since apparently fics do very well on here:)

the rain hit the stone tiles of the street with loud pitter-patters, accompanied by the splash of a red pair of vans and black converse walking through a puddle. toby sighed when rain hit his head through the umbrella, looking up at the inconveniently placed hole. he turned to tommy with a frown, who was blissfully unaware and munching happily on his shitty sausage role from the sketchy bakery a few blocks away. 

“tom, the umbrellas got a hole in it.. and my hairs getting wet.” 

toby sighed, tapping tommy on the shoulder with a small slightly annoyed smile, pointing to the hole once tom had looked over.

tommy looked puzzled, 

“what the fuck man? this umbrella was fine like— two days ago, when that guy gave it to me.. did you bite it or something tubs?” 

he snickered, nudging the other boy with his elbow, a smirk plastered across his face, causing toby to fall backwards a tiny bit. he gasped, folding his arms.

“hey! don’t you be nudging me, also, i’m not a rat, i didn’t bite the umbrella. i don’t think it would be that tasty anyway..” 

he grinned, nudging the blonde back with a laugh. 

tom laughed out loud, finally moving the umbrella around so the hole was behind the both of them, the rain still cruising through but luckily far enough away that it wasn’t bothering the two. the hair of the two swayed in sync in the soft breath of the wind and the rain seemed louder on the top of the run-down umbrella now. or maybe they seemed quieter; it was hard to tell. 

they had been quieter with eachother than normal recently, anyway. tommy had noticed it, assuming tubbo hadn’t so much. if toby noticed anything wrong he would obviously tell him, right? that’s how it’s been going since they were twelve years old— how its been going since they declared they were best friends in that shitty run down orphanage. shivers run down his spine at even the mention of that place. what a nightmare of a shithole, tom felt a pang of guilt for all the kids who were still stuck there, trapped in the foster system. he just hopes they wake up one day and take the chances of escaping. 

tom snapped back into reality after a short moment, rolling his eyes at the fact he had a full train of thought about the life he so desperately wanted to leave behind in the dirt. maybe one day they’ll be able to help out some kids to escape that dump. 

well, obviously not now.

scraping his lunch funds together was difficult enough for him.. let alone having to donate to the homeless shelter camp thing so he and toby can still ‘live’ somewhere. 

“it’s practically paying rent, just masked as a nicer thing.” he explained to toby once, after they’d dropped whatever money they had left at the end of the month into the red bucket gripped by the owner of the land.

toby sighed, looking over to tom who had a wry look in his eyes, turning away quickly. he made an awkward facial expression before speaking:

“is it a mcdonald’s night.. or have we already spent too much money today?” he quizzed, glancing up to tommy and watching his hand as he brought it up to brush it through his hair, the blonde strands falling over his forehead again comfortably.

tommy thought for a moment, suddenly turning up to tubbo with a cheeky smile.

“you know what tubzo? why not man? we deserve it. we’ve been working all week and shit..” he gushed, gripping the umbrella tighter in his hand. toby seemed to catch up on the excitement, grinning back at him.

they walked faster now, turning onto a different street other than the one which would direct them home, chatting along until tommy stopped. turning to a telephone pole and looking at the brightly coloured poster stamped on it.

‘CASTING OPEN’ it read in a big pink font, a black shadow decorating it. under that violation to the eyes, there was extra text. holy shit.

there layed the logo of the ‘syndicate circus’, the swirly writing all too familiar and sported with the three colours for the three members. yellow for acrobur (‘what a stupid fucking name,’ tommy thought, who hates their child that much? he hates to admit acrobur was probably his favourite, though..), a bright green for crowman and a vibrant red for the blood god. jesus christ. 

he poked tubbo on the shoulder, pointing to the poster and aggressively tapping on it.

“toby. are. you. seeing. this? castings for SYNDICATE? TUBZ. THIS WOULD BE INSANE.” he marvelled, grabbing the poor boy by his shoulders and shaking him slightly.

toby scoffed, 

“tom you’re being a bit ambitious.. they wouldn’t let two teenagers - who barely have any talent at all - within fifty feet of the tent, let alone in it.”

tom rolled his eyes, crossing his arms, “you’re so boring, toby!” he ranted, sounding agitated,

”such a pussy. you know that right? you’re a puss.” 

his tone changed to a teasing one, poking at the brunette with a cheeky grin.

tubbo blinked, crossing his arms and raising his eyebrows, waiting for tommy to continue.

tom scoffed, hands moving around in strange gestures as he attempts to explain—-

“okay- look, toby, like.. you’re good at those fuckin trampolines and i’m like really funny!” 

tom stared at tubbo while he thought, his mumbles snapping the other out of his train of thought,

“and like.. i’ve always loved syndicate circus and i just think it’d be REALLY cool..”

toby stared with a blank face, a smile creeping up slowly,

“well- you’re not that funny. but its just.. we might not have enough money to support that, tom.”

tommy massaged his temple, right. money. that’s a good point. oh well!

“who fuckin cares about money?? imagine how much we could make from joining THE syndicate circus!” he exclaimed.

toby lowered his head, thinking again before looking up to tommy about to speak—

“come on, man! pleaase?? please please? pretty please, toby..????” tom begged, trying his hardest to do some kind of puppy-eyes.. and failing.

tubbo sighed. ‘anything to make tommy be quiet,’ he thought, turning to check the date on the poster.

“fine,” he muttered, “but as soon as ANYTHING goes wrong, we’re out of there. got it?”

Phil lore? Phil lore.

His minecraft skin is literally just Urahara from Bleach

He's the hardcore man! Had a 5 year hardcore world where he died to a baby zombie (technically he actually died to a spider but the baby zombie is funnier and we all blame it on him). Still does super long-running hardcore worlds and that's most of what he streams. References to his hardcore world death are actually in the game itself (occasional home screen splash text reading "Ph1lzA had a good run!")

In lore SMPs when in-character he often refers to the Hardcore world as "Dad's train sets in the basement" or similar.

Usual Nicknames include: Dadza, Birdza, Killza, Weebza, Oldza, etc etc. Just slap -za at the end. Also Kristin's Husband, Tech Guy (on Kristin's streams), Crowfather, The Only Man Ever, Bravest Man, Philza Minecraft, Angel Of Death, etc etc. People also often refer to him as "old" because he is 33 and is generally the oldest member of different SMPs (was the oldest member of the Dream SMP and is oldest member of the SBI).

SBI stands for Sleepy Boys Inc. (or Sleepy Bois Inc.) and is a group comprised of Philza, Technoblade, Wilbur Soot, and later addition Tommyinnit. Phil is considered the dad-friend of the group, thus his dad-themed nicknames/lore.

He is Philza Minecraft because he made Minecraft alongside Hatsune Miku* (*He is very good at Minecraft)

You may occasionally hear the song "Philza Minecraft is so brave / He's the bravest man I ever met" (other verses include lines such as "Philza Minecraft is a dentist") This originated from Tommyinnit's "Colossal TNT Mod" video.

Crowfather is from Origins SMP, where he is a very literal birb man who causes mischief. Crowfather also cameo'd on Rats SMP where he was an even more literal crow and thought the mom of the house (voiced by his IRL wife, Kristin) was hot.

Father status varies depending on server/fanon but generally ranges anywhere from biological or adoptive father of one-to-three (Wilbur Soot, Tommyinnit, Technoblade) (and adoptive great-grandkids through Fundy again)

Took over the world with Technoblade once (SMP Earth, Antarctic Empire)

"Angel of Death" originates from SMP Earth and that alongside his renowned skill with elytra are why he is generally depicted as having wings (particularly because he almost always has his elytra equipped on any world where he has one). Because he has a custom cape/elytra based on Urahara that makes his wings dark grey/black, people started depicting him as a crow, which merged with the Angel of Death thing due to crow associations with death. The wings were already a solid part of his fanon design before he joined the Dream SMP (though they weren't solidly crow wings yet) though quickly became fanon due to Sad-ist's animations - which is also why you'll often see him with one or both wings tattered, due to that design (dsmp fanon being that his wings were damaged in the explosion of L'Manberg while he was protecting Wilbur from it and thus why he can't fly on that server).

His chat is canonically crows after it being fanon for awhile (due to the above) until somebody mentioned it to him through TTS on a random hardcore stream and he said he liked the idea due to the mental image of literally throwing lore crumbs to the birds.

His TTS bot is named Brian, and is often depicted as a robot crow. Whenever Phil goes AFK on stream his mod/VIPs will make Brian make noises/sing ("ourna" and "7777777" are common). Usually this is IanBealio (best mod) or Wolfythewitch (renowned Philza fanartist). Ian is also often depicted as Phil's main crow, usually with an orange version of Phil's Urahara bucket hat.

Sometimes Phil's wife, Kristin (mc/twitch name Misstrixtin, also known as Mumza, since Phil is Dadza), will randomly sneak up on Phil to shoot him with a nerf gun during stream. She also runs his clips channel. She's also American. We love her lots and lots. Favorite parent. She thinks being drawn as a death goddess is super cool. Also something you may see in designs of her occasionally is that she has a white streak in the back of her hair. She thinks it's cool when that detail is included (and the DSMP fandom likes to combo that with her in the DSMP being Fundy's grandmother, since Fundy IRL also has white streaks in his hair, so his character is often depicted with them as well).

Phil's hardcore worlds have lore! Lots of lore. Current world's main lore is that there are a bunch of gods that had a war against the End King who tried to steal everything and each build in the world is based off of the events of that war. Gods include the End King, the Blaze Empress, the Ocean Overlord, and Rose (Flower deity). This lore is very loose though and not critical to understanding or enjoying his hardcore series. It's just worldbuilding for projects, not an RP world.

Also one time in this world after he fought the End dragon a bunch to open up all the end portals, apparently during those fights the dragon glitched through portals twice and ended up in the outer end islands, so later when exploring he had to fight two Ender Dragons at once, mid-air over the void before they returned to the main island destroyed his custom End Island. On Hardcore. There's a video about it, It's called the Fight For Endlantis. (Endlantis being his custom End island, which is completely submerged in water)

In his Hardcore world lore, Phil is friends with the Blaze Empress, who lives in Nether Void (big black concrete box Phil built for his nether project). She's a big blaze lady goddess, which is most likely what influenced people to depict Death Goddess Mumza as a giant goddess as well.

Phil also says he likes the idea of Mumza being giant compared to him because again, his minecraft skin is Urahara, so Giant Wife reminds him of Urahara's Bankai.

You may hear about "Emerald Duo" or the "Friendship emeralds" sometimes - this is from DSMP lore. Techno gave Phil an emerald once renamed to "Friendship Emerald" and that became their duo name. Phil and Techno are often depicted in fanart as wearing matching emeralds as accessories.

There's also a running joke based on DSMP lore that he fucked a fridge, because one time Wilbur insisted his character's mother was a Samsung Smart Refrigerator.

You may hear about something called "Colorzas," particularly around MCC time. This is a mostly-fanon driven AU where there are different Phils with different colors, and each color has a different personality and design. For most MCCs he'll put on a skin based on a Colorza. There's a whole carrd for this and it's on Phil's fandom wiki but most of the names are just like Redza, Blueza, Pinkza, etc etc. Except for Voidza (Greyza), Pissza (Yellowza), and. Cumza (Whiteza). Orangeza is also sometimes jokingly just Phil's mod Ian. The only "true canon" Colorza (the colorza that appears in any smp lore) is Redza, who semi-canonly cameo'd once on the Dream SMP. His main personality traits are that's he's chaotic and evil.

You may hear about "Boosty Cars" - this is referring to Rocket League, which Phil plays often and streams sometimes on his secret alt twitch. He also sometimes plays other games there. He's also a big Halo player and iirc I think he was actually a nationally ranked Halo player for a bit?

You may also sometimes hear about Terra Swoop Force - this is a Minecraft map made by Noxcrew (the MCC people) (aka that one TGTTOSAWAF map) that Phil is Really Good At. Again, this feeds into why he's depicted as a bird.

This will be a different version of the blog as Night Shift is a collection of 20 short stories. So, rather than go in depth on each, I am listing these in the order I liked them, from best to worst with a synopsis of each.

1. Graveyard Shift: To me, this is a perfect horror short story. A crew at a mill gets recruited to clean the abandoned basement at night. The further in the filth they get, the more dangerous and tense it gets. If you are not afraid of rats before you read it, you will be after.

2. Boogeyman: One of the shortest stories in the book (and the first in the audiobook version I listened to) is also one of the most impactful. Soon to be a theatrical movie in 2023, the story centers entirely on a man on the brink of sanity talking to a psychiatrist about a Boogeyman that is haunting him. 

3. Quitter’s Inc.: Way before Chantix, the titular company had a very novel, and brutally affective way for you to quit smoking. Our hero, Dick, questions the methods but finds the company has its way of making you stick to the contract. 

4, The Mangler: I’ll be honest: this one may have have rose a spot or two just for the bitchin’ name. The mangler in question lives up to that name, being a piece of industrial laundry equipment that goes rogue after being possessed by a demon (that old chestnut).

5. Children of the Corn: I grew up in the 80′s and 90′s, so I was familiar with the movie and the generalization for creepy kids, but I had never read the story. It doesn’t disappoint. A couple have their car break down in Nebraska and find the nearest town has been overrun by crazed progeny. 

6. The Ledge: A tennis pro cheats with a mob boss’s wife and is caught as he tries to leave with her. The boss ‘wagers’ the man’s freedom with his life: if the man can edge his way completely around the high-rise’s tiny ledge, he can keep his life and ex-wife. Technicalities, misunderstandings and double-crosses ensue.

7. I am the Doorway: King’s version of science fiction: have a guy travel in a spaceship around Venus and come back with an entity using his body as a host and growing eyes in the mans hands. Those around the man here on Earth question his story at their own peril.

8. Strawberry Spring: I didn’t think I was going to like this one about a murderer loose on a college campus, but it really started growing on me as it went along. The foggy, steamy weather helps the killings of Springheel Jack and he makes a return 8 years later when Strawberry Spring comes back,

9. Gray Matter: This is a very straight-forward story (if that’s possible from Stephen King), but involves strange happenings in a small town and that’s where King absolutely excels. The build-up starts with a young boy going a bar to get beer for his dad but also warn the patrons of something coming over his old man. The tension follows them all the way to the house to check it out.

10. Lawnmower Man: Weird, gross, farcical, funny...Lawnmower Man is this and more. A company in a residential neighborhood becomes known for the meticulous yard cutting and their secretive ownership. Harold Parkette decides he will decide the quality and the secrets himself by hiring them, but gets more than he bargained for, in many ways. 

11. One For the Road: The first of two stories in the ‘Salem’s Lot universe, this one is post novel events. A man and his family get stuck in a blizzard in the Lot. He walks to Tookey’s Bar to get help and the gang there fears the worst. Sure enough, they find the car, but the wife and daughter are gone and vampires have shown up.

12. Jerusalem’s Lot: Full disclosure here, I am not a big ‘Salem’s Lot fan. I like it well enough, but it’s definitely not my favorite. Fans of that book would probably have this one higher. Whereas, the other story happens after the events of the book, this story is a prequel told in correspondence between colonial residents.

13. The Last Rung on the Ladder: This one is intense and depressing, sharing the story of siblings of have had divergent paths since an incident when they were kids. Most of the story, and the tension, centers on the sister get hung up on a ladder and the brother rushing to save her. The resolution left something to be desired, in my opinion.

14: Battleground: This one may be the most far-fetched. A hit man, one of the best we’re told, does battle tiny ‘toy’ soldiers who are very much alive and very keen on destroying him. As crazy as the premise is, you start to get invested and you’re really not sure who to root for. 

15. The Man Who Loved Flowers: This one escalates quickly. King begins this one as a straight-up love story...I should have known better. The man from the title buys flowers for a woman named Norma, whom he considers the love of his life. When the flowers get delivered, everything takes a horrible turn.

16. Trucks: In one of the laziest stories, this one is about...trucks...that become sentient. The reason this one isn’t on the bottom of this list is some of the clever ways King humanizes the machines. But, everything from the characters to the third act just don’t land.

17. The Woman in the Room: The story isn’t bad, it just goes on a little too long and makes me think about mine and my family’s impending demise. It pretty much centers entirely on a man’s decision on whether to force pills to his terminally ill mother. Maybe it’s because I’m living in a post Dr. Kevorkian world, but there seems like a lot of hemming and hawing over a decision we’re pretty sure he’s already made.

18. Night Surf: This takes place in the universe of The Stand, but is a really watered down version of characters we don’t know and frankly, don’t care about. None of them are particularly likeable. I appreciate King wanting to explore other aspects of the pandemic, but this ain’t it. Luckily for us, this is one of the shortest stories in the book. 

19: Sometimes They Come Back: We get a few early King tropes in this one: bad guys coming back, mistakes coming back to haunt main characters, teachers being heroes. I’m just not sure all the pieces fit together and I can’t for the life of me figure out these guys got to come back from the dead and there isn’t much satisfaction in the ending either.

20. I Know What You Need: Creepy, but not in the typical SK fashion. This one is just cringe-worthy. A young college coed gets wooed by an odd fellow, who turns out to have some sort of control over her and has been obsessed with her for a long time. Full of 60′s and 70′s ideas that quickly were out of style, even at that time.

Ratatouille - Sure maybe I can make Remy a cook at an Ambrose Restaurants establishment. They would have no reason to say no to such a talented chef. Though I'll have to think of a tale to include him in.

Coco - Hm... Actually, yeah but I'm going to make it an event and cursed class anomaly where people will go into the afterlife after stealing form the dead on the day of the dead. Not sure how much of the movie I can tie in but I'll see what I can do.

Luca - Hm, I'll probably just add them to the Species of Interest document. Sorry but outside of a few tales I haven't done yet I can't see them fitting anywhere else.

Turning Red - Okay now that's an anomaly! Yeah, it's on the queue. Also, since its cannon she kept her red panda, I don't think anyone would be mad if I made Mei be processed by the Anomalous Employment Division.
