finally got around to reading the Gigantomachia bc of Reasons and it's been… a wild trip tbh. My impressions so far (beware cringe):

The concept of Shun going to a Greek play is funny. The concept of Shun going to a Greek play and watching someone die… is still funny. Ironically.

idk if i'm too paranoid or whatever, but Altar Nicole being unable to help during the Greek theater fiasco is a little suspicious.

I love Mei's concept! He's got that big brother (heh) energy. And the fact that he didn't graduate bc his master (Deathmask) died is so funny to me. I'm sorry my sense of humor is so skewed, I blame Argentinian parodies.

Should I make a counter for every time Shun has been compared to a girl/called maiden? idr him being feminized as much in the manga. and the times where he would be "feminized" were… pretty tame tbh.

There's this part abt the history of Sicily which includes THE WHOLE Italy independency History and I'm like. Am I reading a Saint Seiya light novel or a Hetalia fanfiction? like???

Mei: What's the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Sicily? Seiya: The mafia. Mei: It's because of The Godfather, isn't it?

I KNOW IT'S A NOD TO THE FACT KURUMADA LOVES THOSE MOVIES, NO I WILL NOT STOP TALKING ABT IT.

It's also curious though that Mei mentions mafia being sort of a taboo topic within Italy (it is, I was actually surprised they'd done this much research into it), and also the mention that economically Sicily is better off than mainland. That kind of thing (satellite[?] islands being better off than mainland) seems to be a pattern????

idk if it was the translation or smth but Saori got called a whore???? my jaw was literally on the floor, what the heck.

My honest to god reaction to reading Hyoga jumping in to save Shun: UN LOBO SIEMPRE PROTEGE A SU LOBA, AUUUUUU

like ofc the maiden in distress trope w Shun used to bother me sosososo much a couple of years ago, especially bc of the damage it did to the mainstream audience's perception of Shun's character, but at this point i learned to accept it as it is: fanservice. Man the anime team used to feed us three-course meals everytime Shun and Hyoga appeared together on camera, huh?

Hyoga: Are you ok, Shun? Thaos: He's about to die, actually. Hyoga: I wasn't talking to you.

Shun about to faint!!!! Hyoga: You've lost a lot of blood. You shouldn't move like that, rest up a little. Shun: I'm fine. Hyoga, smiling: If you say so. But that doesn't mean much coming from you.

i can't stay quiet about this anymore. for weeks now i've thought, noo i won't write about knights of the zodiac on my blog. nobody cares. BUT it is the weirdest fucking movie i've ever seen and i need to tell you about it.

knights of the zodiac is an american made live action adaptation of the anime/manga saint seiya. before this film, i'd never even heard of it, but that doesn't matter, because i watched an interview with mackenyu (who plays seiya) who said that the director told him not to bother watching the anime or reading the manga, because he wanted this movie to be its own thing. you know, which is always a great way to bring in your core audience.

with that said, i'm viewing this film entirely on its own merit, with no context of the source material. so saint seiya fans may not want to read this.

the movie came out this past may. i was excited about it for no other reason than mackenyu starring in an american action movie. i'm honestly a little surprised people weren't more jazzed about that. there aren't a lot of japanese actors starring in big budget american action movies.

other cast members include sean bean (who, spoiler alert, dies), famke janssen, and mark dacascos. in case you don't recognize those names, they are, respectively, boromir/ned stark, jean grey from x-men, and the iron chef. if nothing else, i think it's worth watching for the utterly bizarre casting.

the premise, sort of: mackenyu, who appears to be contractually obligated to play angsty younger brother characters (i think this is the 7th thing i've seen him in where he is an angsty younger brother), has an older sister who is missing. he's a poor orphan boy who gets by on winning cage fights. or something. so boromir finds him and tells him he's destined to be athena's bodyguard, and he gets on board with this alarmingly fast, but not after antagonizing athena (who is not yet athena) and throwing out some snarky one-liners. he trains in the middle of nowhere with a masked lady who repeatedly kicks his ass, and he never changes clothes the entire time. there's other stuff too but it's secondary to the absolute batshittery of this movie.

i saw it on premiere night, which was also the premiere night of the new guardians of the galaxy movie. again, A+ move by the promotional team. so there i was on a saturday at 7pm. prime movie going time. and my best friend and i were the only ones in the theater.

although i had no real expectations for this movie beyond Mackenyu Hits Things And Is Sad, i believed one of two things would happen: it would be as terrible as it sounded, or it would actually be phenomenal. but no, it was neither bad, nor good, but a secret third thing: it scratched a deep and rabid part of my id.

and by that i mean, it appeared to be a very high budget love letter to glaringly submissive men.

here's my letterboxd review that i wrote in the brief hypomanic episode succeeding my initial viewing:

okay so first and most importantly, this scene made me actually scream:

it's a joke line, sure, but 1) he definitely means it, and 2) he immediately calls her "princess," which if you've ever read my fic, you'll know that that's a one-hit KO for me.

(putting this under a cut because it's already long)

you see how athena is framed above seiya? that is one of approximately 1000 shots where this occurs. to every male character. at one point, mackenyu perches gingerly on the back of athena's motorcycle. in fact the only male character who attempts to be dominant aggressive and toxically masculine becomes the punching bag of the film.

in the beginning, seiya is in a cage match where people are getting angry at him for "dancing," which means he doesn't fight so much as avoids getting hit and looks pretty doing it. a solid third of the movie involves a very large lady beating the crap out of him. the premise of the film is getting him to devote his entire life to a goddess and obey protect her at all costs.

i'm probably the only one who watched this movie and was like, hmm is this kink coded? am i insane for seeing this? usually when i think of kink coding i think of quentin tarantino's foot fetish, these long gaudy shots of women's feet hanging out of car windows. it's in the imagery and shot composition and power dynamics.

here, the imagery is a lot of kneeling men, the shot compositions repeatedly place the men lower than the women, and the power dynamics are simply that the women have all the power, and the men have a little, as a treat. jean grey is a straight-up femdom, leather and all.

by the end of the climax, seiya is naked, having been stripped of his (magical and very powerful) armor as pre-athena becomes athena and uh, blasts his clothes off in the process. there's probably something to be said there about, you know, literally stripping him of his power.

i think what i find particularly remarkable about this is that the repeated feminization of the male lead is treated as a good thing. a self-actualizing thing. it's the process through which he accepts himself and his destiny. that's the reason i say it's a love letter--i've known a lot of submissive men and many of them really struggle to accept that part of themselves. i had a friend once who was so ashamed of himself--not just that he was submissive, but that submission was an integral part of his identity--that he had a breakdown in my car over it. so i think it's nice seeing a vaguely positive portrayal of finding oneself through (textually) devotion and (subtextually) submission.

god help me, seiya spends the entire film being irritating and bratty. this movie is my personal kryptonite.

don't get me wrong, it's a terrible movie. the writing is awful, the direction is awful, and if it gets a second film, i'll be shocked. it received a 1.9 (out of 5) on letterboxd and a 4.4 (out of 10) on imdb.

but i've also always been a lover of the star wars prequels (and oh boy there's a lot to be said there about submissive men) and so my patience for bad writing is infinite in the face of interesting things happening on a character level. in a world of disneyfied stock plots and bloated marvel franchises, i appreciate when a movie tries to do something different, even if it doesn't do it very well.

anyway, i can't in good conscience recommend it, but i for one plan to watch it at least a hundred more times.

I been on here for at least an entire month or so, I feel I should properly introduce myself or something

I'm genderfluid and prefer to go by they/them pronouns I'm autistic as well which is most likely the reason I get so passionate about my special interests. I made this blog to post and reblog about Saint Seiya because the entire franchise is one of my biggest special interests and I don't really get to share about it much since hardly anyone I know likes it !! I post alot of gay stuff because I'm very gay myself ya know.

I enjoy watching anime and reading manga, fanfiction, listening to music, collecting dolls,figures, plushies ect. I also like drawing and even have fanart and some of my own ocs that I designed but I don't post them here mainly because I feel nobody would care to see them given that my skills are basic lol.

My favorite anime series are: OG Saint seiya including the hades ovas,Saint seiya lost canvas, saint seiya soul of gold, B't X, Shurato, ronin warriors, fuma no kojiro, yu yu hakusho,patalliro, berserk,devilman, blackjack, inuyasha, yugioh (season 0 and duel monsters), rurouni kenshin, princess princess, gravitation,brave dagwon, gundam wing, nightwalker the midnight detective,saint beast and the rose of versailles.

My favorite Saint seiya pairings: Hyoga/Shun, Shiryu /Seiya, Milo/Camus, Degel/Kardia, Mu/Shaka,Deathmask/Aphrodite, Minos/Albafica, Dohko/Shion . I like other ships but these are the ones I especially love to see fanart and fanfiction for Hyoshun is my main Ship ! Shirseiy and Camilo are close to being second.

Favorite bands: X japan, Seikima II, Malice mizer, Lareine, versailles, hizaki grace project, phantasmagoria, Syndrome, D, shazna, Kuroyume, missalina rei, madeth gray'll, baiser, Hanoi rocks and michael monroe, the sweet, Kiss, david bowie, the cure, dead or alive, gene loves jezebel, japan and david sylvian, cinderella, wasp, iron maiden, judas priest, motley crue, and many others mostly visual kei, and 80s music lol.

things I dislike: homophobia, transphobia, ableism, sexism and just bigotry in general, people who attack others for their ships its just juvenile imo, people who get mad if I dont instantly reply, that crappy netflix remake that made Shun into a girl..just no.

Heathers AU 80’s Pop Culture Interests

Veronica: Loves classical literature, John Hughs movies, and Disney movies. Enjoys an occasional fantasy film like The Princess Bride, Willow and Legend (the Tom Cruise movie where Tim Curry plays the devil btw). can usually be found B Dalton Booksellers at the Sherwood Mall pouring through its collection on the weekend. Developed an interest in Transformers from her friendship with Dan.

Martha: Particularly enjoys cute things. A huge movie fan and a bit of film snob, she loves Princess Bride above all else. Likes Jim Henson projects, Disney, My Little Pony, She-Ra, Peanuts, ALF, Garfield, Heathcliff, and sitcoms like Punky Brewster, Saved By The Bell and Mama’s Family.

Dan: Wears his interests proudly. Transformers, ALF and Disney Ducks, specifically DuckTales, are his top interests. Likes sci-fi and fantasy movies like The Last Starfighter, Wizards, Dragonslayer, The Dark Crystal, The Flight of Dragons, They Live, Enemy Mine, and The Transformers: The Movie. Famously he was the only one in his friend group back in Hawkins, NOT traumatized by the death of Optimus Prime. Can usually be found at Waldenbooks, KB Toys, Hills and Ames looking for books and Transformers. Likes sitcoms like Family Matters, Doogie Howser and Growing Pains.

JD: Likes chaos and dinosaurs, especially when the two go together. Dabbles in classic literature, and likes Dr. Jeckle & Mr. Hyde in particular. His favorite non Slushee thing is the trading card series Dinosaurs Attack!. Likes The Transformers, with his favorite teams being the Dinobots and Terrorcons. He also likes Soundwave’s two dinosaur cassettes Overkill and Slugfest. Enjoys westerns, schlocky monster/Kaiju movies, RoboCop, the Mad Max series, Escape From New York, The Terminator, Hellraiser, Critters, The Dark Crystal (mostly because of how gnarly the Skeksis look), The Secret of NIHM, Rock & Rule, and shooting games like Operation Wolf and Duck Hunt. Also enjoys crime shows like Wiseguy and Hunter.

Red Heather: Enjoys romance and mystery movies like Cocktail, Dirty Dancing, Body Double, The Bedroom Window and Vision Quest. Looks down on those who still watch cartoons at their age like Dan and Specs, despite she herself liking a good Bugs Bunny cartoon once and awhile. Enjoys teen gossip magazines like Teen Beat, ‘Teen, and Super Teen, but doesn’t read much otherwise.

Green Heather: A closet Muppets, Indiana Jones and Star Wars fan. Particularly likes the Ewok spin off movies, but desperately tries to hide this from the other Heathers. Absolutely hates romance movies like Can’t Buy Me Love, and chafes when Red Heather forces her to watch them for movie night. Has a thing for musicals like The Phantom of the Opera, Starlight Express and Cats.

Gold Heather: Despite her sweet demeanor and appearance, she LOVES horror and slasher movies like Hellraiser, Friday the 13th, Halloween, Child’s Play, Army of Darkness, Creepers, and Fright Night. The bloodier and more chaotic, the better. Red and Green are too disturbed to really judge or comment and just let Gold enjoy herself. She also dabbles in anime because of Specs, owning a Doraemon keychain he gifted her clipped to her purse. When asked by others, she denies knowing what it is and just found it cute in a crude attempt to protect her reputation.

Specs: HUGE Star Wars fan. Had he survived, he would also be a fan of the Prequels and Sequels, mostly happy there’s more movies to enjoy and analyze, despite agreeing the sequels aren’t that great. Big anime fan, enjoying stuff like Space Adventure Cobra, Demon City Shinjuku, Arcadia of My Youth: Endless Orbit SSX, Doraemon, Saint Seiya, Space Warrior Baldos, Robot Carnival, Giant Gorg, Ronin Warriors and Sherlock Hound, but particularly loves Tatsunoko Productions like the various Time Bokan series and Tekkaman.

Kurt: Enjoys stuff like Conan the Barbarian, TMNT, He-Man, Thundercats, Thundarr the Barbarian, Blackstar and Bravestarr, but hides it initially. He-Man is his jam, and is both his “gay awakening” and the reason he started working out and getting into sports. Once admitted to Dan that Prince Adam/He-Man is his idol and who he strived to be, but failed and instead became an Evil Warrior like Two-Bad (in conjunction with Ram). Likes to collect He-Man toys but is often in a disguise when going to places like KB Toys to find them. Similarly likes collecting He-Man and TMNT comics but tries to hide them In between workout and swimsuit magazines. Also reads the gay model magazine Stud Puppy, but isn’t as good at hiding it… Actually got to model for Stud Puppy in his early twenties as part of a personal milestone.

Ram: A big TMNT fan, especially the movies and video games, but initially hides it. Is actually a pretty big gamer when he’s not playing football, and frequents the arcades to play the games albeit in disguise. An expert BurgerTime, Pole Position, Contra, Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, and Donkey Kong player, and is very fond of Mario and The Legend of Zelda. Isn’t particularly great at sports games like ExciteBike and Track & Field ironically. A casual fan of Star Wars, and unsurprisingly his favorite part of Return of the Jedi is the slave Leia stuff. Enjoys testosterone charged movies like Top Gun, The Running Man, Commando, Bloodsport, Big Trouble in Little China and The Warriors.

Betty: Similar tastes to Veronica and Martha. Seems particularly into Care Bears, ironic given her cruelty later on. Likes sitcoms like Family Ties, The Golden Girls and Nightcourt.

Jamie: Shares Dan, Kurt, Ram and Spec’s interests. Big Dungeons & Dragons kid and loves the cartoon. Big movie guy like Martha. Enjoys stuff like V, Quantum Leap, TerraHawks, Poltergeist, Batteries Not Included and Flight of the Navigator.

Thrash: Shares Ram’s interest in testosterone based movies. Big Arnold Schwarzenegger and Slyvester Stallone fan.

Throttle: Like Veronica, he is a bit of a bibliophile, and enjoys classic literature. Likes Steven King and the Dune series in particular.

The works of Osamu Tezuka, I LOVE almost all of them but mostly Astro Boy, Princess Knight (comfort series honestly), Vampire and Blackjack. I also really like the anime Jetter Mars which is loosely based off Astro Boy.

The Yokai Watch franchise. MY FAVORITE IS BLAZION! HE'S SO COOL!

Of course I also like similar stuff like Pokemon or Metabots.

The bands Lemon Demon and Tally Hall.

Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy.

Rick Riordan book series in his universe of modern mythology stuff. (Pretty sure it's called Riordanverse) Percy Jackson, Heroes of Olympus and Magnus Chase I've read and I started Trials of Apollo.

Ronin Warriors.

Creepypastas and cryptids. Yes I almost am in love with Spring Heeled Jack...

Phantasy Star RPG games. Mainly the first and fourth (End Of The Millennium)

Romeo and Juliet, yes really. They made me read it in school and I really like Mercutio.

Sailor Star Fighter takes on the name Kou Seiya while on Earth.

In the manga, the Sailor Starlights take on male identities as secret identities, but are still physically female. Due to translation into english as well as when the manga came out (1997) the Sailor Starlights are protrayed as being women, but who take on the ROLE of men while on earth. But the Sailor identity is their true selves while their Earth identities are a cover.

Seiya in the manga develops romantic feelings for Usagi, at first because Usagi reminds them of their own princess (Sailor Senshi exist to protect a central princess of their star system) but it becomes clear Seiya's feelings for Usagi are also based on who Usagi is as an individual. Seiya laments that due to circumstances, They can never be with Usagi,

In the anime, because Ikuhara has never had a single moment of chill in his whole life, The Starlights do not only present as male while on Earth, but just full on BECOME male while on Earth, turning female when they revert to their Sailor forms because only women can be Sailor Senshi.

Ikuhara introduced Seiya as being a potential love interest for Usagi because Mamoru was too busy being dead. This is because Ikuhara really liked the idea of Usagi having a romance with a genderfucked character. Someone who is a girl but who is also NOT a girl. He even sets this up when Seiya first shows up by having Usagi kindly reject a girl who she thinks is giving her a love letter by saying "you should find a nice boy instead" (Because Ikuhara loves writing stories where a character has some mental construct about things such as gender so he can completely destroy that character's preconceived idea of gender. He does this in basically all of his anime, most noteably Utena)

The PROBLEM is.... Usagi KEEPS TELLING SEIYA "NO".

She KEEPS saying "I have a boyfriend. I am getting married. I love Mamoru." And Seiya just KEEPS. PUSHING.

FUCK OFFFFFFF

Anyway. Usagi is shown to be ATTRACTED to Seiya. But despite her loneliness and the HORRIBLE situation that is the entire final season, she does not betray Mamoru.

I LIKE Seiya having an unrequited love for Usagi. I do NOT like them not taking the fucking "no" and instead takes it as "try harder".

A lot of people prefer Seiya and Usagi because Mamoru is extremely boring (and also anime Seiya and Usagi means no anime Chibi-Usa LOL). But I just can't with this fuckery.

Again. I understand Ikuhara's writing style and what he likes to write about. But it does mean I dislike Seiya in the 90s anime, even tho I like the STORY of the final season a LOT. It's in stiff competition for my favourite with Season 3.

So I am looking forward to a manga adaptation of the character which will still most likely include the unrequited love but without the "no means yes" bullshit of the 90s anime.

Anime (and related media) I've watched this year

Tokyo Mew Mew New Season 2 (2023)

Second (and final?) season of the Tokyo Mew Mew reboot! Always here for some good magical girls! I never finished watching the original series, so it was nice to see how the story goes. I wouldn't call it amazing, but it's a cool series. I wish they would make a third season for the A La Mode arc which came out later, but it seems they might be ending it here, Idk (I've never read the manga either)...

Subs since there's no dub.

Saint Seiya: The Beginning a.k.a. Knights of the Zodiac (2023)

Live-action movie adaption. Would I watch more if they do it? Yeah. Was it good? Not really... I'm not saying it's horrible, but eh, it was weak. The absence of 3 out of 5 boys is definetely felt. I mean, I didn't expect much of it, so it's not like I was dissappointed! ^^' I'm a SS fan, so I was in to see what they cooked.

I watched it dubbed at the cinema (there wasn't a subbed session but it's fine!).

One Piece: The Series Season 1 (2023)

Live-action adaption of the first arc. My first contact with the franchise! Charismatic group, the power of friendship, adventure in a new world, fun pirate crews... I loved it. Still pondering if I should get into this giant beast of an anime. It's just...So long. Never-ending. I'm sure I would like it but dear lord, is it long. Anyway. For now I'll content myself with waiting for the second season.

I alternated between dubs and subs! I think I prefer subbed but I wanted to check out the dub and it was also very good.

Porco Rosso (1992)

A Ghibli/Hayao Miyazaki oldie! I was keeping an eye out for the Ghibli Fest going on in the US this year and I realized this was the only movie in the list I hadn't watched yet, so. It's definetely not among my favorites, but it was a good movie. A Pig-faced bounty hunter pilot in and adventure through Italy. Needed a little more Gina thought!

Subs cause there's no dub.

Saint Seiya: Knights of the Zodiac Season 2 (2022)

Second season of the 3DCG reboot of Saint Seiya, covering the first half of the 12 Temples arc. It's definetely still way below the classic series, but the battles had quite an upgrade from season 1! Also no time spent on original characters I don't care about :) And of course it's always a pleasure to see the Gold Saints... and the scenes the classic series didn't adapt! I'm glad season 3 is coming next year!

I watched it dubbed (sadly they changed the og cast in my country, but the new one did a good job too).

YashaHime: Princess Half-Demon Season 2 (2022-23)

Second (and final?) season of the Inu-Yasha spin-off sequel. Look, Yashahime has a lot of flaws, but it has its qualities too and personally I enjoyed it. Nice to travel around the feudal era in this world with familiar and new characters. I would watch more but I think that was it? Would definetely want them to make some changes... I heard the manga is different, so...food for thought!

I didn't have access to the dub when I watched s1 but this time I did! (I'm not very fond of parts of the dub, but overall it was good).

Spy x Family S1 (2022) and S2 (2023)

After seeing gifs since last year I finally sit down to watch it! It's cute, it's funny, and it's cool! Spies, assassins, school, AND family shenanigans! Loved it. Bring me more. Looking forward for the upcoming movie and for the s3 announcement.

I watched most of it dubbed but the dub is a few episodes behind the subbed version so I finished season 2 in Japanese.

Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning (2023)

I didn't even watch Kizuna but I heard it wasn't necessary so might as well go, specially since they actually put this movie in theaters in my country and got most of the og dub cast... Sadly I wasn't impressed by the movie. I thought it was pretty meh. Could have given more for the group to do (it was mostly about the new character). Anyway... PS: The opening sequence was LOVELY though!!! ^^

Yu Yu Hakusho (1992-94)

I used to watch it back in the day, but never watched all of it until now! Good stuff. Not perfect, but it's a great series!!! Charismatic group, cool friendships, cool big bads, spirit detective shenaningans, youkai, and of course, battle tournaments!

Watched it dubbed, of course (except for the specials, since they weren't dubbed here). The series was in my watchlist for years but I guess knowing there would be "new" content is always a good push, which brings me to:

Yu Yu Hakusho Season 1 (2023)

Live-action adaption of the first 2(!) arcs. A pleasant surprise! The biggest problem here is definetely that it's too short. There's other flaws too, sure, but still! I had my doubts but turns out I really liked it, overall positive impression. I really hope they make more in the future!

Saints and weapons

I’m as tired as a bat during the day, but I have the urge to write this. Buckle up. I’m going to sleep after this.

So, we all know Saints are not supposed to use weapons, right? Athena made it a thing for them to not be able to use weapons in battle, and only rely on their own cosmo and strength to fight. Which, if I’m being perfectly honest, is really just en excuse for Athena to be a pacific goddess in the franchise, since her mythological counterpart not only is not as forgiving but also uses a weapon herself (see: her spear).

“But some of them use weapons in battle!”, you might protest.

To which I answer: yes, some of them use weapons. But, and this is important, how many of them actually use weapons that don’t come with their Cloths? Think about it. If the answer is “no one”, then keep reading. But first, know this: all the Gold Saints have to be trained in the use of weaponry, because in case of an emergency that calls for it, they have to know how to use the Libra Cloth weapons. Anyone else’s training is up to the master to decide.

My personal interpretation of this is: if a weapon is inherently part of the Cloth, like the twelve weapons of Libra, the Nebula Chain, or even the chains of the Cerberus Cloth, the Saint not only can use them in battle, but has to know how to use them, since they’re part of the Cloth. It’s not something that comes from somewhere else. If you pay attention, there’s no Saint that uses a weapon (as standard or as bizarre it could be) that doesn’t come from their Cloth.

For fairness, let’s go over the classic Saints:

Andromeda Shun: he uses the Nebula Chain, two chains (attack and defense) that come from the Andromeda Cloth, and are supposedly the same ones that chained up the homonym princess.

Phoenix Ikki: he uses his own Cloth, taking advantage of the feathers on his back; since it’s physical items that come from his Cloth, I’m counting them a well.

Chameleon June: she uses the whip that comes from the Chameleon Cloth.

Perseus Algol: he uses the shield that comes from the Perseus Cloth (yes, that’s definitely a weapon, since it can turn people into stone).

Cerberus Dante: he uses the ball chains that come from the Cerberus Cloth, supposedly the same ones used to chain up Cerberus.

Cepheus Albior (anime): he uses the chains that come from the Cepheus Cloth (anime).

Lyra Orphée: he uses the lyra that comes from the Lyra Cloth (in Saint Seiya a musical instrument is no doubt considered a weapon).

Libra Dohko: he can use and give the twelve weapons that come from the Libra Cloth.

Sagittarius Aiolos: he uses the golden bow and arrow that come from the Sagittarius Cloth.

The only one you could argue about is Aphrodite, since he uses roses to fight, but that’s so much of a stretch that it would be ridiculous in every way possible. Athena herself uses a weapon in battle, even if just a staff and not a spear like it should be. In fact, she legit used it to stab Hades.

Plants and rocks have to be fine. Saints can use nature (i.e. Aphrodite) to aid their fighting techniques, and a Saint that has strong telekinetic powers can use their surrounding to have an advantage. Now, if one Saint tries to take a pointy rock and use it as a sword... it would be an hilarious workaround, but still something not acceptable. Hell, if Camus get ultimately annoyed by his neighbors being too loud and decides to use an icicle to stab them, it’s still considered as weapon usage. As ridiculous as it might sound, because it is.

In short, what I think is this: they can be trained with weapons and against weapons, but unless a weapon is not inherently part of their Cloths, Saints cannot fight using them. It would be dishonorable for them to even think about using an external weapon outside training, because in doing so they would go against Athena herself. There’s only space in emergency exceptions for external weapons, like Aiolia during Soul of Gold (yes, that thing is something I consider a weapon, because it basically is), but only because it was necessary to seal away Loki again.

What he would give you for Christmas - Saint Seiya The Lost Canvas

Aries Shion - Something which tells about him

Shion would choose a present that would remind you of him just looking at it, so he would opt for something from Jamir. It would be a fine robe, made with a refined fabric with golden threads, but the thing you would appreciate the most would surely be the scent coming from his gift, so similar to his own. From that Christmas on, every time you would feel lonely, you could have felt Shion simply wearing that robe.

Cancer Manigoldo - Something sexy

Manigoldo is a sweet heart wrapped in a bad boy shell, so he needs to maintain the facade even at Christmas time. Also, he really appreciates the view of your body, so what could be better than a pretty piece of lingerie as your present? It wouldn't be outrageously sexy, though, it would be sensual enough to make the both of you blush once unwrapped. And that would be the best Christmas night ever.

Leo Regulus - Something warm

The very opposite of the crab. Being the naive lamb he is, Regulus would go for something innocent and cute. He noticed how you feel the cold this winter, so decides to give you a big, fluffy scarf, one that feels warm as a hug. No mentioning how he blushed as hell when he offered the present to you, and got even more red when you put the scarf around the both of you, resting your lips on his.

Libra Dohko - Tons of something

The Libra Saint is a generous big boy, very muscular and very excited about Christmas, which, translated, means that he would buy and bring you tons of presents. Since autumn, every time he found something you could like, he took it home with the idea of giving it to you for Christmas. It happened countless times, and that's why you ended up receiving too many gloves, books, jewels, mugs...

Scorpio Kardia - Something you wouldn't expect

Kardia always follows his instinct, in war as in love. For this reason, the present you would receive from him would be something very uncommon, surely chosen in the heat of the moment. And you would be pretty surprised at how Kardia has been able to find something totally unexpected but, at the same time, that seems made just for you: underpanties with his face printed.

Capricorn El Cid - Something useful

El Cid is not good at expressing his feeling. Actually, he's not good at having feelings at all. He thought really hard about what he could get you for Christmas, and concluded that the best gift he could give you, was something you can actually use. Even better if it can be used for self-defense. Someone else could think a present like this sucks, but you know that in that carefully wrapped box, El Cid put all his heart and love for you.

Aquarius Degel - Something nostalgic

As El Cid, Degel would spend a lot of time thinking about the perfect Christmas present for you. Just when he was about to give up, he remembered the tale he usually read before going to bed when he was just a child. He looked far and wide to find that novel and finally succeeded. You honestly expected a book as Christmas present from your bookworm boyfriend, but what you could not imagine was that the princess of the fairytale was so much like you.

Pisces Albafica - Something together

Because of his poisonous blood, Albafica has always been afraid of hurting you without even notice it. Even if with time he managed to overcome his fears, you still feel he's refraining from acting openly towards you sometimes. At the same time, he senses your sorrow. So, he decided that Christmas would be the right time to make up for that. His present for you would be a few days away from the Sanctuary, just the two of you alone, together.

rules: this tag post is just answering ten questions! that’s it that’s the rules!

1. q: what color would you like to dye your hair?

RAINBOW. No, seriously, a full rainbow is the one thing I haven’t done yet. My hair is naturally dark brown and I’ve had orange, blue, green, pink (both pastel and bright), various reds, black, silver, blonde... Right now I miss the orange+brown sideshave combo the most.

2. q: what is the current nail polish you’re wearing? (if you wear nail polish)

Bright pink on my left, pearlescent pale pink on my right.

3. q: do you get into fights?

Nope, I’m not confrontational and extremely selective with the people I hang out with (excessively selective, but that’s a topic for therapy, not for tumblr).

4. q: what’s the weirdest nickname someone has given to you? do you like it?

I haven’t been given many nicknames, not weird ones anyway. I was in a class with another girl with the same name, and people just shortened my surname instead, but that was it.

5. q: favorite tv show from childhood? (because they somehow become a part of you when you grow up)

XENA WARRIOR PRINCESS. I mean, is it my favourite? Probably not. But the influence it had! Yesterday I was talking with a friend who’s a few years younger than me, and they’d never seen it on tv and it just... HOW. My entire generation can quote the Italian opening word for word. That, and Saint Seiya - Knights of the Zodiac. I wasn’t allowed much tv as a kid.

6. q: ice cream or smoothies?

Ice cream! God, I miss cheap good ice cream.

7. q: sketching or coloring?

I can’t draw to save my life and I hold pencils too tight to the point where I hurt my hand... so neither? But I would love to. I used to love it.

8. q: can you sing for your life?

Yes and no. I’m not a naturally gifted singer, I can’t replicate even the easiest pop song just by trying, but I used to be in a choir, and I can read sheet music and if I put in effort and/or someone trains me, I can sing my part.

9. q: do you have a pet? do you want more?

I’d love a cat even though I’m allergic to them. My current not-entirely-stable living situation (it’s nothing dramatic, I’m just a broke ass millennial in a big city!) isn’t good for pets, and I’ve never had one before, either, so I don’t even know if I could care for one?

...my housemates have a hamster, I guess that counts?
