Hai I’m just trying to find my way in this wild world. If you take the time to contemplate everything you’ve overcome to get to this moment in your life, you might be impressed with your strength, your fortitude, and your continued hope and capacity for love. We all go through dark periods, but light will always find its way in. I was discussing this with another friend who lost their sibling. How even in our darkest moments there may be strangers who reach out and offer some kernels of wisdom, understanding, empathy, and kindness that helps keep you afloat. If you can give that gift to someone in pain, do it. Listen more, love more, practice empathy and understanding. Practice self-care so that you don’t burn out. Like my former Rimpoche in Ann Arbor taught, our minds are like lamps, and we have to keep them clean and clear so our light can shine through. Self-care allows you to clean your lamp of negativity so your truest light can shine on the world around you. I’m nowhere near perfect, but every day is a new chance to try again. I will do that for me and for the memories of my sister that are carried in our hearts and minds. The past few weeks I’ve been doing well at playing Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, which is turn based, so I thought I’d give Mario Odyssey a try. Turns out I’ve been kidding myself about the level of dexterity I actually have, and fatiguing really easily, and I’m getting angry all the time. I really love gaming, but I think at this stage in my recovery, *some* games are doing me more harm than good. I’m going to make myself a cup of tea and try again, but if this is beyond me, I need to remember that it’s okay, and that it’ll probably get better with time, but if it doesn’t, then that’s okay too. The eyes are the window of the soul for human beings and perhaps even more so for our animal friends. It is up to us, as the more “evolved” species to be able to hear past their wordless pleas. The best way to do this is to look directly into their eyes and understand that they, like us, would choose to live if we would only allow them that right. We don’t know of anyone who can partake of any kind of meat without a willful, deliberate decision to NOT think about where that meat came from.
