This photo is from an adventure to Area 51 where I was filmed for visuals to be used during TOOL performances of “Rosetta Stoned”. I’ve never shared this out of respect for the mysterious nature of the band. Enough time has passed now. TOOL NEWSLETTER “We have things that are so far beyond the comprehension of the average aviation authority as to be really alien to our way of thinking.” – Retired USAF colonel It was probably over Coronas and Snakebites at the local pub when Camella and I came up with the no-brainer to shoot some footage near the perimeter of AREA 51 to be used in the screen projections for “Rosetta Stoned” during the band’s upcoming U.S. Summer/Fall tour. Along with some infrared landscape stuff, we scribbled a laundry list on the back of a Newcastle Brown Ale coaster of a few other ‘targets’ – things associated with the area such as the “Use of Deadly Force” warning signs, paramilitary security patrols (henceforth known as Cammo Dudes), video surveillance equipment, radiation monitoring gauges, and even the dusty white bus with the darkened windows that transports workers to and from the nonexistent military installation. GM, The primary task of love feels best has always been to spread positive vibes worldwide. Over the years I’ve tried to amplify awareness of the advantages that practicing compassion and celebrating diversity provide to us. This journey has changed me since the day it began. Pondering what it is to be compassionate and how well I’m practicing the ideas I share, every day for the past decade, has had a huge effect on the way I live my life. Im sure I must still be a hypocrite in some ways and I’m definitely still a jerk sometimes, but This work in progress is improving. I’ve always done my best to be transparent. Arts only really works the way I want them to when they are authentic and from the heart. It’s always been a source of joy for me to meet and befriend people from far away. They are simply more interesting than people who have lived a very similar life to my own. When we are graced by the presence of a foreigner conversations are less predictable and more exciting. You usually learn something that you had no clue you didn’t know when you get to know someone from a different culture. I’ve always intended to depict acts of love and kindness to help glorify compassion. I want to help popularize observing the golden rule in a secular more effective way than alternative methods. I love to create imagery that gives you that warm fuzzy feeling. That is now my primary focus. To only create paintings, music and visuals that evoke an overwhelming feeling of joy, for the next few years. I think I’ve gotten a bit lost along the way as far as the content I’ve shared. I want the content this project produces to ignite a sense of wonder for kids and interrupt routine monotony for adults wandering around in a gloomy half disassociated haze. I hope you have fun and it sparks something in you as you continue to follow my journey and evolution as a person who loves to make art. I don’t feel great about using this photo because I don’t have anyones permisison or name. I think I googled “kid with baby goat”. She’s just too beautiful a kiddo not to share.
