Music drifted through the trees, wrapping around the groups of students that thronged the clearing. The sun was starting to dip, the air far crisper and cooler than London, and a certain ease to the evening. It was like everyone had taken a collective sigh, content to be here, to be home, more than anything. Peter sat perched on a rock by his friends, fingers nimble and eyes bright as he rolled a cigarette, tobacco - and he’d be quick to play innocent if it was anything else - smeared across his fingertips. He glanced up at the sound of footsteps, squinting slightly in the glare of the half-light, “Haven’t got a lighter on you, by any chance?”
