R.e. discussions abt the new Good Omens season being polarizing on whether it’s good or bad writing, I think just saying it’s bad writing is weird and dismissive of what actual problems someone would have with it, and is just dismissing what it’s trying to do because it wasn’t to your taste. I think it more or less succeeded in doing what it wanted to do, which is an entirely different metric of judgment than whether or not you LIKED the effect of what it was doing. Regardless of what issues I personally have with it, I still think overall it effectively did what it set out to.
The thing is, it reads less like a traditional season of television and more like half of a novel. It’s weird. It’s directionless and meandering not because it’s poor storytelling but because I genuinely think it’s doing those things on purpose for other reasons. This is a single chunk of a larger story and I believe the overall purpose of season 2 isn’t to like, actually have a big plot or complete character arcs? If I look at it solely from where it is and what it’s presenting to me and let go of my preconceptions and expectations it appears that this season is just trying to put a few plot set pieces in place for the continuing story, and to nestle those plot pieces in a nonlinear narrative solely focused not on character Development but on character exploration and revelation. I feel like that’s why the actual moving plot this season was a very basic mystery, because it isn’t really the point? The actual story events are just backdrop for revelatory character vignettes, and I think that if this piece of storytelling was part of a novel that included whatever season 3/the actual story conclusion is going to be then people wouldn’t have nearly as many criticisms about the writing as they do when it’s presented as a season of tv. That’s also why it reads so fanfiction-y imo. My honest opinion is that s2’s biggest flaw that isn’t something incredibly subjective is that it’s let down by the fact that it got trapped in needing to present itself as a television season with all the baggage that medium has and not something more unconventional that would be kinder to its weird beginning-of-a-novel-ish meandering. Is this something a season of tv SHOULD do? I don’t know. Is this a fucking weird piece of television story wise? Yeah. Is it now officially a different story from the original novel? Absolutely. Does it have flaws, maybe even flaws that amplify the issues already present in season 1? Yeah. Does it accomplish what it sets out to do though? More or less yeah, I genuinely think so. Now if any of that translates into “badness” for you that’s fine. I think it was an immense risk to do this kind of thing for a tv season and it’s not going to click for everyone. But that’s fine. This is a bizarre and novel-y piece of tv media that’s just sort of doing its own thing, and whether you think that’s bad or not is secondary to how interesting that is I think. I just wish the criticism was more engaging with it instead of judging it, because I think what’s happening here is both much more simple and much more complex than most people are implying with their critiques. It’s much more interesting to meet it where it is imho, even though I do strongly wish it didn’t have to be released in this technically incomplete form.
TLDR I think ppl pointing at this season and calling it bad writing are partially not actually engaging with it on its level and partly confusing objective badness with personal taste. Regardless of whether you LIKED what it tried to do or not it was at least trying to do something, something that it mostly succeeded at, and that’s all i can really comfortably judge a piece of art on

Ppl who can't just enjoy an evil character, and think it's a moral failing if anyone else likes that character are exhausting, and I'm pretty sure slept through any lesson about literary understanding.
Yeah. I mean, it's fine not to enjoy evil characters, or any kind of character, for any reason! But... Yeah, while I don't love that trend of groups accusing each other of lacking media literacy because I feel like it often obscures the core disagreement and any difference of perspective people may bring to the table while both having genuinely interesting points to bring up, it does become pretty exhausting to be morally scrutinized about extremely tame opinions about extremely tame characters.
To me, liking Ganondorf is like... barely above liking Bowser in terms of moral despicability? Not to equate the two at all, as they are very different beasts, but we are talking about a videogame villain made to vaguely scare off children/give them a thrill about feeling like a hero. At the end of the day, this is the purpose Ganondorf serves in the story: being the fairytale evil king that you can defeat and still feel good about yourself (then Wind Waker arrived etc etc but even then, he served that purpose and extremely well even in Wind Waker).
But I don't want to underplay the weight of what I'm generally saying on this blog either and I don't want to hide behind "lol it's just a game for children" when it's an argument I hate to see deployed to undermine other people's feelings about the series. I do come at this character with loaded language and pretty heavy terms, and I'm not sure I would have gotten this kind of hostility if I had just twirled my hair like the rest of the (much more reasonable and less invested) internet, and kept some terms I have used (justifyingly so imho) out of my virtual mouth. It can provoke. It's meant to. I understand these feelings can take some strange shapes when they lash out undigested.
THAT BEING SAID.
Okay, sure. You want me to acknowledge the evil bad guy is evil? Okay! Let's do it, right now. Ganondorf commits atrocities. He does weirdly specific and horrible things to the gorons. He kills people and he kills half-gods. He is tyrannical. He is a conqueror and a warlord. He is a thief. He is self-obsessed and entitled. He beats up kids. He practices necromancy. He terrorizes his followers. He lies and manipulates. If you look closely he is even associated with, like.... the devil....? like maybe there's even "demon" somewhere in his title card?
Okay. Very bad. Evil. Horrible nasty man. Weird eyebrows. Arguably weird name. One star. Blocked and reported.
Okay.
...now what?
Like, what do we do from this point on? What did we learn? What did we ponder upon? What touched us, or moved us, or made us see the world in a slightly new light? Are we reassured? Do we sleep any easier at night?
I know it doesn't always have to be the point of art, to question everything constantly. You can go to art for reassurance and simplicity and easy, comforting thrills --and Zelda is great at doing this as a series, it's a huge part of why I love it. It feels safe, and that's such a nice thing to rely upon! And you can stop there!!! It's allowed!!!!!!
But if you go out of your way to shame people investing and questioning this piece of fiction they love in their own way because it threatens your moral safety and the simplicity of your relationship to that media (and/or the world at large)? That becomes a you problem my (gender neutral) guy, and by that I mean: you becoming a problem for others to deal with, regardless of Circumstances.

Gene ofc
first impression: i straight up do not remember for gene LMAO i watched episodes he was in years and years before i ever got super into bob's burgers like boys just wanna have fun-gus and i cant really remember what my impression of him was....?? most likely i just thought he was a silly lil guy and didn't dig any deeper. i got into bob's burgers tumblr because i had a Vision for my genderfluid gene fanfiction so certainly more recently my impression of him was THAT boy is genderfluid and nobody is doing anything about it
impression now: my son.... my literal angel sweetheart etc my perfect boy <3 probably my favorite bob's burgers character but its tough to say bcuz so many of them are so funny and great. my beautiful boy nonetheless and severely underrated
favorite moment: his scenes with louise in large brother, where fart thou? especially the ending scene 😭😭💔
idea for a story: my MANY many unfinished fanfic ideas staring at me.... one im not gonna really do anything with is the idea of jimmy jr x gene just because i think the dancer x musician thing would be fun to write. two creative music appreciators. and we should be doing MORE with that
unpopular opinion: gene is as emotionally complex and developed as every other main bob's burgers character people just don't pay attention bcuz his emotional problems are more understated than like. tina or louise's are. there isnt a lack of episodes focused on his deeper emotional issues or implications for how he processes things but him being conflict avoidant and generally staying out of trouble/hiding his serious emotions makes that harder for ppl to pick up on. we always need more gene episodes BUT i dont think it's fair to say he's under developed compared to other characters in the show. he's just underrated and perceived differently by fans. Not me though im different ❤️
favorite relationship: bob and gene and louise and gene are both soo adorable i love them for different reasons. also throwing in the highly underrated tina and gene dynamic
favorite headcanon: genderfluid gene maybe?? i like the idea of him becoming a famous musician when he's older and he'll def be in a band regardless but i would love to see him become an elementry school music teacher or a piano tutor

problems with the juries in eurovision:
radio friendly pop songs and ballads are the only songs they uplift, at the expense of more unusual songs that are genuinely good
votes decided by panels of 5 people can overpower votes given by millions of people, like how their votes pushed sweden to the top despite them not even getting a 12 points from the public in any country. them giving sweden twice as many jury votes made it near impossible for finland, the clear favourite of the public to win despite receiving many 12 points
problems with getting rid of the juries
there would be nothing stopping people voting trolls into the final, like in the awful era of eurovision which was full of trashy gimmicks bc of people voting them into the final as a joke
televoting only would heavily benefit countries with large diasporas bc ppl would just vote for their country of origin regardless of song quality (already happens to an extent even with juries). countries with many emigrants would be guaranteed qualifiers, whereas some countries wouldn't have a chance
if the voting portion is just the spokespeople announcing the televotes it will be less suspenseful and more predictable
so clearly the jury system isn't working, but not having them has historically resulted in the final being trash. so what do we do?
my opinions on how to solve the problem
increase the jurors from 5 to 10 to get a wider variety of opinions
have people who represent different genres so that songs of certain genres aren't unfairly punished for being different, instead of jurors who only appreciate non-threatening pop and ballads
have jurors who are experts in different areas of music, like a vocal expert, a dance expert, a composition expert, etc
be able to have acts go again if there's a technical problem with their performance, like in 2019 when the jury couldn't see part of norway's act due to a technical issue and they couldn't go again, resulting in them receiving a low jury score despite having one of the best songs in the contest (it's really not fair that a genuinely great song suffered bc the jury didn't actually get to see the whole performance).
have specific criteria the jurors have to follow, for example, considering if the artist had good stage presence (were they moving around and interacting with the stage or just stiff and awkward, did they convey the emotions needed for the song, like sounding vulnerable with a sad song, or sounding bright with a happy song), considering vocal tone, range, and complexity, considering originality and creativity (like taking note of costumes, props, and sets, and how well they suit the song and message being conveyed, and how much they stand out)

I saw a post that reminded me of this which is why I'm talking about this out of the blue but whenever I see the 'do canonically male characters you headcanon as trans girls count as female characters' debate pops up I remember this one event from the Voltron fandom where an f/f ship week banned genderbending and people lost their SHIT about it, SPECIFICALLY because the mods were like 'we want people to actually focus on the female characters and not submit already popular m/m ships but genderbent'.
This was years ago obviously so standard 'my memory may be fuzzy' disclaimer, but while I believe part of the reasons the mods banned genderbending was bc they believed it to be transphobic (which you could actually argue against and is a stance I don't agree with), and ppl were using that as leverage to argue, but that's not what ppl were actually angry about. Also, I believe the event was run by antis, who had a 'no age gap ships' rule in place, and people were mad about that, but like. The only f/f ships at the time with even kind of an age gap were ones involving Pidge, (which, again, for the record, I never personally gave much of a shit about), and yeah I do believe those were banned and ppl were pissy about that, but most of the ppl arguing with the ship restrictions were doing so in combination with the genderbending restriction, bc what they were mad about wasn't actually about a major female character being banned from the f/f ship week for Ship Discourse Reasons.
What they were angry about was specifically being told their genderbent m/m ships didn't count because they did not, in fact, contain female characters. Arguments were made that, because it was genderbent, it was now f/f and should be allowed in the f/f ship week. The mods went no, those are still canon male characters and popular m/m ships, and we're trying to run a week about the female characters and f/f ships because they don't get enough attention. The mods were fending accusatory and argumentative asks for ages and told people to create their own f/f ship week if they didn't like how theirs was run, which. People did.
A counter f/f ship week was organized but with less restrictions, specifically the restriction on genderbending was lifted. Now, I never followed Ship Week B, because I don't care about shipping and I was there to see more attention given to the female characters, which allowing genderbent m/m content seemed pretty anathema to. But I did check in on it out of curiosity, and to no-one's surprise, Ship Week B contained very large amounts of mostly genderbent sheith, with some shiro/lance and lance/keith thrown in. Like, I'm sure there was also actual f/f content (I remember there being some Pidge/Allura specifically), but I remember very little of it.
And as I alluded to in the large Nuance Disclaimer paragraph: yes this was the Voltron fandom, yes the Disk Horse was involved and made everything far more explosive than it probably would've been otherwise, and also, if the mods hadn't explicitly put the genderbending restriction in the rules list they probably would've gotten maybe a few genderbent m/m submissions tops. It's pretty obvious that a large motivation for Ship Week B was spite, and as someone whose username is literally spitecentral on AO3, I can confirm there is no stronger motivation for fan content than spite. I don't actually think that genderbent m/m is such a major problem in f/f spaces that it needs to be explicitly banned to avoid having it overrun ship weeks.
But even taking all that into account, this whole thing was completely fucking bonkers. Regardless of your opinions on the mods' opinions on genderbending and the Disk Horse, asking ppl not to submit genderbent m/m content on account of it not containing canon female characters is completely reasonable, and the fact that people got mad enough about it to create a whole seperate f/f ship week SPECIFICALLY to allow genderbent m/m content is insane. All the f/f ship week asked was for people to pay attention to female characters for once, and people threw a fucking tantrum about it and not only point-blank refused, but created more content for the male characters out of spite.
So yeah that was kind of a formative fandom experience to me that taught me:
People will take any excuse possible to avoid paying attention to female characters.
People will make literally anything, up to and including female character-centric fandom events, about men.
And that's what I think about any time I see people get offended when others point out that headcanoning a canon male character as a trans girl isn't the same as engaging with female characters.

i am trying to read more about bi lesbianism bcuz i do want to understand but everything i have been able to find is like. bonkers transphobic??? everything ive found that isnt "i like girls extra so just bi doesnt work" is "trans men can be lesbians because of having a vagine" and it just. confuses me? many of these people seem to be saying lesboys exist which strong agree but so much seems to be focused on tme people and comes off like a weird progressive reskin of excluding trans women from sapphic spaces, and i KNOW thats not actually the core idea or meaning bcuz i have seen a lot of transfems identify with bi lesbianism!!! i just want to understand bcuz i truly believe ppl are functioning in good faith and genuine self identification and i am over trying to police anything or making my opinion on label functionality a problem like. ill never be cool with social media posts blowing up abt how Lesbians Fuck Men but otherwise personal labels i truly dont care and want to understand so im capable of approaching the subject in good faith and not ignorance, but i genuinely can't find anything that isn't bigotted*.
i know that online communities of bi lesbians arent to blame for things like sexual violence or anything and any bigotry espoused is problematic on its own right regardless of self identity, feel a need to say that explicitly because i have also noticed that as a talking point where people either victim blame Bad Lesbians for violence or it is assumed that the person is when asking about this
i am open to discourse and people chiming in on this post or sending asks if it is done in good faith because i cannot stress enough how much i am trying to approach this with an open mind and learn more, i just am like. not finding anything that isn't biphobic or transmisogynistic or reiterating people can do what they want, so if you have answers here that isnt that i would love that
*exception 2 split attraction model ppl or lesbians who fool around with men and use bisexual to describe sexual activity i get that but that doesnt seem to be a majority of people

The thing about tone indicators is that there’s a few of them (/j and /s, for example), that have been around a long time, are well established, and can generally be easily sussed out from frequency and repeated context. Most others are new inventions created in an attempt to overcome some of the limitations of text communication, specifically to clear up speaker intent and usually framed as helping autistic people in particular.
There’s a couple of problems with this. This is a relatively new concept to be used with such frequency, and while new doesn’t mean bad, do you really think people in decades prior have done absolutely nothing to “indicate tone” before the introduction of these little acronyms? Casual text-based communication is littered with subtle tone indication the same way that spoken speech is, and if tone is unclear from context or has been misunderstood, people tend to just, well, clarify what they mean.
Expecting autistic people (or anyone) to memorize a list of acronyms that is inconsistent in both number and meaning doesn’t really help us. You’re just creating a new form of inaccessibility and social codes we have to memorize when you could, instead, just explain what you mean clearly. E.g. saying “I’m not mad” instead of using “/nm”, which I just learned what ppl meant by today, as I’ve been reading it as “nevermind”.
You can’t say “just google it” when different sources say different things, and some of these are obscure enough that you might not be able to find it. You could save us both the trouble by speaking clearly to begin with.
Additionally, the nature of human communication means that people, yes even autistic people, will use these new lexical items in creative and unintended ways. For example, using the /srs (serious) tag to emphasize that they are joking, therefore negating any clarity that tag was intended to serve. You can’t really stop people from doing this and it’s foolish to try; most people are never going to stick to straightforward language usage even when it excludes people who “don’t get the joke.” Any term coined to circumvent sarcasm will ironically lend itself perfectly to sarcasm.
Point being, you can’t expect that everyone using a tone indicator is using it sincerely. If someone sends me an invasive or seemingly bad-faith question and tacks /gen (general genuine *) to the end of it, it doesn’t change the fact that the question itself is the problem regardless of declared intent (keyword: declared). In other words: people can still lie or be misleading, and intent isn’t everything when it comes to communicating. Therefore, this addendum to communication seems to cause more problems than it supposedly solves.
* another example of lack of clarity; I was corrected on what this tag stood for
Lastly, assuming that every autistic person you meet needs to have things spelled out for them comes across as condescending and infantilizing. The way some of you talk about us like we’re stupid toddlers who are completely helpless in any social situation is, honestly, pretty insulting, even to those of us who do struggle with communication. Each of us is different, so meet our needs as we request them of you rather than assuming.
If tone indicators help you, that’s great, but in my opinion (and that of many other autistics), it’s a much better strategy to explain yourself clearly with words and to ask for direct clarification when necessary if you’re worried about miscommunication.

multiple ppl close to kinah were able to verify that they were in the hospital recovering when the attempt happened. all of those ppl could not collab and lie so one person could get “extra attention” in ur words. Im frustrated with terra staff aswell but that doesn’t mean its ok now to call someones suicide attempt fake so ur feelings seem more valid. I find that extremely sickening. U have zero evidence or good reason for doubt or else u would have vented about it already. all u have is ur feefees. u do need therapy. And mod pls stop validating baseless speculation on smth so serious. what happened 2 people needing proof for claims like this
alright yeah im deleting kinah asks now
first off i dont think that people should just believe whatever they read on the internet, because you dont know who these people are irl. again, thats not to say that you shouldnt give support where you can or that you should make public callouts saying that it was all fake when you dont know for sure, BUT at the same time theres a level of speculation regardless because its the fucking internet. people are wild, people are strangers, and there is a non zero chance that people could have lied. just because people have a level of speculation on something they read online, that doesnt mean they need therapy and it doesnt mean theyre a bad person, it means they have a brain. if YOU want to believe it without a shadow of a doubt then thats fine, and if other people have some doubt thats also fine, just dont go out of your way to fucking bother people because thats just unnecessary.
second off, i need proof for accusations like “so and so is posting feral” or “so and so is an abuser,” saying things like “the way that kinah bounced back into cs makes me speculate” isnt an accusation.
the views of the anons i post here arent reflective of my own views, and if something is a problem i give my own input on it in my response. when i created this blog i didnt want to delete asks because i feel like that controls a narrative and makes me an unreliable narrator when it comes to these discussions. if people want to talk about things like this, i didnt want to force silence because thats not how you hold a discussion.
as an additional note: anons have been becoming increasingly aggressive in my inbox, whether its towards one another or towards myself. i implore all of you to stop being so aggressive, stop making assumptions, and stop playing this holier than thou card. so much of the art and cs community is made up of people who will virtue signal and place themselves on a moral pedestal and my inbox is the last place for that. if you want to rant and complain, go ahead, but stop acting like youre better than each other because you have the Correct Opinion on everything and believe everything you read on the internet.
my final thoughts on this are as follows: there is a non zero chance that everyone is lying. is it a small chance? sure. does this mean we should spread the narrative that it was all fake? no. are you a horrible person who should die in a fire because you dont 100 percent believe that the attempts were real? no, but also dont go out of your way to be an asshole because of that belief. i think we should all publicly operate under the assumption that the attempts were real. if you want to privately speculate, go fucking wild. could kinah going back into cs and making stuff for terras possibly be bad for their mental health? maybe. but also, its none of our business. and thats what im ending this topic with, a lot of this shit really is just none of our business and i think you all give way too much of a fuck about someone who you will never know irl.
i dont dislike kinah, in fact i actually really liked them when they were on staff for terras. but at some point we all gotta throw our arms up and say why is this taking up so much of my brain power when this person is just someone i follow on fucking toyhouse.
we are done with asks about kinahs attempt now, unless anyone has important info or something new to say im deleting them.

Feel free 2 yell @ me if this is weird or otherwise bad, but I need an impartialjudge and none of my friends wanna say anything.
But I have a spy OC and a scout OC who r on the same OC team 2gether. They r unrelated, and could actualy have an intersting dynamic if shipped 2gther.
Problem is, i'm scared that if I make them a ship ppl will think I condone canom Spy x canpn Scout, or insest shipping in general, which i absolutely do not.
Honestly in my opinion, there's not really any reason to do this LMAO. Like I understand having tf2 ocs who are distinct from the original characters, but there's a general problem with these kinds of fandom ocs, which is that they're rather difficult to separate from the original property for a lot of people. I also have known of quite a few people who have used the "noooo they're not related they're my ocs!" thing to justify doing the spyscout incest thing, which isn't what I'm implying you're doing but it is an implication you need to be aware of. Overall I will break my advice (which u don't need to take lol I'm just some guy) into a couple suggestions:
Accept that there are going to be Implications(tm) that you will need to explain very often if you insist on shipping your Scout oc and your Spy oc together, regardless of how unrelated they are. This is a pain to have to do, but if you do it enough times it would probably get people off your back and after a while people would get used to it
Explore the dynamic between these two characters in a non-romantic setting. There are other kinds of relationships besides just romantic ones and you can still get an interesting dynamic with a platonic friendship
Break the characters away from being tf2 ocs. Fandom ocs are fun, don't get me wrong, but this is one of those instances where having your original characters that you created be tied to someone else's story can start becoming a crutch. The tf2 world and concept is a very fun one to create characters for, but it's not the only way! Sometimes it's nice to have characters who are completely yours and whose world is completely yours as well. I love fandom ocs but I recommend this to a lot of people with fandom ocs pretty often, because once the characters start to turn into something more significant for them, being shackled to the original property can stop being fun and just start to get annoying (some of my most significant original characters actually started as ocs for the dead MMO Fer.al! Once Fer.al shut down tho it encouraged me to break them away a bit more from just being "Fer.al fan ocs". There's still lots of inspiration from that game in them and their story and their world, but I get to explore original stuff too which is fun)

but heres the thing. youre making a wrong assumption about me and my opinions. as i think most ppl realise, i like sso and i want to get a job at sse if i could. im not biased against sse, or against astride. i see all of these studios (or single devs) as regular humans with flaws and positives. thats why ive never been an sso hater or any other game hater, neither a defender.
i criticise the games i love the most from the studios i like the most. i also criticise or praise games that i dont like from studios i dont like, or whatever constellation you want. i dont see any problem with giving fair criticism to any videogame or its studio. i do see a problem when its hypocritical aka only handed out to the ones that are "not your favourite" but defended if it is your favourite.
and to answer the question, yes, i do mostly excuse when game studios criticise each other, bc i dont actually see how thats a problem that i need to care about. the only issue here is if one company uses a position of power or criminal activity to shut down their competition, to illegally slander another company or their product with untruths, etc. at this rate, astride is not in a powerful position to hinder sso, and afaik, there hasnt been criminal slander or complete untruths to any important degree? (i could be wrong, but ive never seen or heard of it?)
if digimon says that pokemon sucks, and i love pokemon.... well... ok? i mean, i have a lot of criticism about my fav pokemon game, too. they may have valid points. on the other hand, maybe they dont, but it just doesnt seem like a big deal to me? this is stuff that happens with competition - "our toothpaste is the best compared to other brands" - there is a legal system in place for it. just giving fair criticism or voicing fair frustration with sso/sse (or any game) isnt a big deal to me regardless of whos doing it. if some devs said "we noticed pokemon did x thing badly so we wanted to do it differently and release a game that was better than that" id be like, yeah ok nice ig. i dont know how to explain that it just doesnt look like a big enough deal to be mad about if its not illegal untruths.

Okay so as I’ve mentioned before on here I work with animals, I have years of experience in the animal care industry and working with dogs specifically, and my pet peeve (please clap) is when ppl respond to my impassioned defense of pitbulls with “(insert dog breed here) is the real problem” bc okay. Okay so no dog breed is inherently evil, actually, but all dog breeds (even “the good ones”) have a tendency towards other breed specific behavioral problems that can escalate into aggression if left unaddressed, encouraged or exacerbated by trauma or instability. Pitbulls are protective, so if they feel that they or someone they perceive as being in their charge is in immediate danger, they will react accordingly. Huskies and doodle breeds are very high energy, so if they feel overstimulated they may channel that energy into aggression. Chihuahuas and other small dogs (and German Shepherds, actually) are very nervous animals, and if they feel that their boundaries are not respected, they may resort to aggression. My GSD mix is both the gentlest and most nervous dog I’ve ever owned, because even though he’s naturally anxious, he is well-trained and feels secure enough in his environment to not to conduct that anxiety into aggression. My pittie puppy was initially wary of strangers, but only around me, because he needed training and affirmation that the strangers in question posed no threat of immediate danger to or separation from me. You are by no means obligated to vibe with every dog breed, especially if you’ve been attacked or otherwise have trauma incurred by a certain breed (the conversation around GSDs is further complicated by their use as weapons against POC by police) but please please please do your research before adopting a particular breed or being party to misinformation targeting a specific breed. Obviously these biases are not on the same level as discrimination against humans, but they still have irl consequences, re pitbulls being the breed most commonly found in shelters, which fyi, does not a less aggressive population of pitbulls make. I’m really not trying to be a PETA girly ab this (bc they’ve set any productive conversation ab animal rights back decades) but if y’all are fr about valuing animal life regardless of whether it serves you or not, then which dog breed is “the bad one” really isn’t something to have an uninformed opinion about. It highkey sucks seeing any kind of animal become the subject of human pettiness and our weird tendency to define ourselves by the things we hate, and in my opinion it just goes to show how a lot of us view animals as little more than props to project all our shit onto. None of them are inherently evil or automatically attuned to what humans want from them, they’re literally just vibing.

I think you’re the one who’s oversimplifying or twisting what people have said about Joyce and Jonathan. You take everything as meaning that people don’t want them to interact, nobody actually says that. It’s an interesting relationship, there are just different opinions on how it should be developed, and how every pov (Jonathan’s, Joyce’s but also the social context) should be taken into account.
See this > https://www.tumblr.com/willel/714855037607837696/the-problem-i-see-is-that-most-ppl-who-are?source=share
I'd also like to point out every time people talk about potential Joyce and Jonathan interactions, all I see is,
"It's not Joyce's fault Jonathan has taken on this responsibility."
"Joyce is a single mother and Jonathan is an adult, he should be able to handle this by himself."
"Joyce has her own problems right now, she shouldn't have to deal with Jonathan's problems too."
Etc etc.
My issue with those kinds of takes is, regardless of how Joyce is feeling or the situation she's in, she IS Jonathan's mother. He's still in high school. She loves him. She's his mom, she's going to do what she can to help him.
Even when she's at her worst, she's clearly done everything possible to keep supporting her children no matter what.
Regardless of how it's done, I think it's nonsensical to suggest Joyce shouldn't have involvement in Jonathan's arc. Or insulating if she does, then that means Jonathan is blaming her or that she's a bad mother or something.
Maybe I'm missing it but I haven't seen anyone who talks about this potential interaction as Jonathan calling her out or condemning her or blaming her for his life. that's exactly opposite of what Jonathan probably feels.
"People don't say that"
But look at this??
Tumblr media
WHO IS CALLING JOYCE A BAD MOM? YOU -different anon- ARE.
It's like people equate this potential situation to Joyce being bad when that is not the point at all and never has been. I just have to ask if you guys have lived in a single parent household, and if you did, did you have a good or bad experience? These are conversations older kids have with their parents.
Depending on the parent, it can be such a positive and relieving experience to go over your life and have your parent validate your experience. I'm not a single parent so I don't know how THEY feel, but when I had this talk with my single mother, she was a little snarky but she was also smiling and even though my mom is not really a touchy feelsy type, she still patted me on the back and thanked me for the things I did. It felt good. It made me appreciate my mom a little more. She seemed to appreciate me a little more (as much as my mom can that is, lol). I totally get that sometimes single parent households are WAY worse. Maybe you experienced something worse than me. Maybe your parents lashed out at you instead of appreciating you and there were no hugs had. I'm sorry about that, but that's not how every single parent household concludes.
Just because some people are speculating what this could look like from Jonathan's perspective does not mean Joyce is a bad mother. It doesn't mean Jonathan hates her (he freakin loves her dude, that's part of the reason why he's in the situation in the first place). So why would anyone say, "Well, since you want a moment where Jonathan opens up to her, we Joyce "fans" are gonna turn against him."
That is some bonkers shit right there.
A moment where Joyce and Jonathan can come together and talk about things can only happen because Joyce is a good mother who would notice her son's distress and be able to listen to him when he has something to say.
Regardless of how they write season 5, this is the person Joyce is. She loves her boys. She notices when her boys are going through something. She will protect and comfort her boys no matter what. That's Joyce's character. If you're her family, she'd go to the Upside Down/Russia and back just to save you even if it's from yourself.
And in return, absolutely everyone in her family would do the same for her.
We want a redo/expansion of this moment posted below. Is this moment bad to you? Is this the worse possible outcome in your eyes? Does it destroy Joyce's character? Is the interaction something to be scared of? Does this moment make Joyce a bad mom? Does this make Jonathan a bad son? Is this moment only from Jonathan's perspective????
What is so terrible about wanting something like this again? Please tell me because I do not get it. This moment makes Joyce an awesome and caring mom and character among all the other stuff that makes her character whole. I and others just want to see more of it among the other things Joyce will be involved in.

Did you see what happened with seungkwan? I get what they said to him is mean and they shouldn't say stuff like that especially on videos/tv, but I can't understand why everyone is SO mad about it.
In my mind they said it to a friend, seungkwan as a joke, the only one who "should" have a problem with it is him. Yes you can scold their actions but calling them names and disgusting for it a bit much to me?
Just because you make a mean joke to your friend doesn't mean you view ppl that way I think at least. Like I saw ppl saying they probably treat fat people that way and they are fatphobic but I don't see it.
I came to say this because I want to understand why everyone is so upset, not to push what I think. I think maybe I'm just desensitized to it.
hi, yes i just saw what happened. personally, making comments about other people’s bodies will always be uncalled for, even if they’re treated as jokes and especially if the person it’s directed to is uncomfortable about it. i don’t know hs/dk personally to ever find out if it’s meant as a joke , in the same manner that i don’t know sk personally if he took it as one. regardless, i have faith in seventeen’s friendship that if they had a problem they would resolve it personally.
however, another issue with this is that the comment was made in public video and they are public figures. personally, as someone whose friends have made ‘jokes’ towards my body, it does sting a little bit to watch people i admire make these same kinds comments to another person that i admire. the situation adds to how normalized it is to just make comments/jokes about that and the person it’s directed towards having to take it in stride.
hs/dk should be held accountable for their words. if it did hurt sk, i hope they were able to apologize and resolve it. i completely understand the fans who are disappointed in them and calling them out. they should be called out. however, it is also very counterproductive to shift insults and hate towards hs/dk. instead of opening up a conversation and holding accountability, it becomes a space for hate.
this is just a thought/word dump opinion though, and i am open to constructive criticism of what i’ve said. just keep it respectful.

I do feel like sams expectations are too high. I do edit and have edited for YouTubers in the past. But even then it wasn’t so picky and specific. I do wish Sam could open his eyes a little and see that everything doesn’t need to be perfect. People have lives outside of work and plus. Regardless if the editing is not the greatest doesn’t mean the quality of the video would be bad. I could careless about the editing/how the video is edited. As long as the quality is fine even then I don’t mind. I feel like this is happening because Sam is stressed out on something in his life. I just wish that whatever it is he get sorted out. Same as for Colby. There’s no denying there’s stuff going on in his life. People got to think that these people have lives outside of exploring. I just want them to be okay and know it’s always fine if they take a break. That’s what I mostly miss about them hanging out with TFIL. I loved when they went to Australia with Corey. It was normal and I could tell that they were so happy to take a break from everything. I hope they are okay!
I’m stating this outside of anonymous as I don’t really care who thinks what on my opinion (as in negativity)! But I always listen. Everyone opinions matter so feel free to voice whatever on mine! Ily <3
i wonder if his problem is a mix of both his perfectionist tendencies and being scared that fans will not like a slightly different editing style. bc while most fans wouldn't care overall, i think a decent amount would have something to say about it and would not like it. i know i saw it somewhere (either reddit or twitter) that someone said "snc need to get an editor that knows their style. they have to, otherwise the videos won't be good moving forward" and there were ppl agree with said person so….
but that doesn't negate the fact that sam is too up-tight about this. there's a difference between "i want my video to look like that in the end" vs "i'm gonna hover over you while you work and micromanage everything you do to get the end result i want". like, you want to give notes? that's fine. but if you gotta give a note for every slight change in the edit, then clearly at the point you should just do it yourself. if you can't trust someone you hired to get the job done, don't hire them. especially if it's someone with extensive background in editing.
which again is why i feel like they should just hire someone that has never done editing before, or at the bare minimum knows after effects and that's it, and just teach them everything they want in a video.
both snc are just really stressed, and idk if it's continued stress from last year or what things they have planned this year, but it's clear that they are overworked. i would love for them to take a break this year (maybe not with tfil lol) and just… chill out. i get they need to post and i want them to, but if you're gonna be stressing yourself out, don't do it. take time to relax. no one would fault you for wanting a vacation or time off.
and i'm sure most anons, or anyone else, would agree with your sentiment so no need to worry about negativity haha

Gonna get on the stoner soap box for a second here but, I see a lot of ppl who smoke in the tags of those opinion polls saying shit like "in my defense I smoke bc (x)," or "I smoke every day I'm a degenerate ;-;" and that's not cool. Why do you feel like you need to defend yourself for smoking weed? It's not an action or lifestyle that is inherently evil, despite what the media will say, or ppl who are losers when it comes to weed. (To clarify: I don't think you're a loser if you've never smoked weed or have no desire to smoke weed. You're a loser if you think you're better than someone because they smoke weed.)
Like. As someone who has smoked daily before, sometimes multiple times a day, the only person who can determine how much weed is TOO much is YOU. I will say, it's good to monitor patterns when you smoke and take note of whether there are any outside factors that are pushing you to smoke. From experience, frequently smoking to ignore or avoid problems can cause cycles to form. It's also important to take note of how you feel when you smoke. Is it serving its purpose? On average, how do you feel when you smoke? If something has shifted negatively, that's a sign you might need to reflect.
Regardless of why or how often you do it, smoking weed doesn't make you a degenerate. Even if you smoke to cope with a problem, or out of sadness, or dissatisfaction with life.

“ 🔥 “ about Stella and Stolas
Tumblr media
//I think it's pretty clear that the rpc hates the dynamic as a vast majority and I can see why you went on anon for it lol. Fair. I think overall it has its ups and downs, it's not ALL bad, I think Stella for example should probably be more intelligent since she's a one-off woman villain now behind a man being her brother. I think overall that Stella's intelligence isn't even the main problem, but it's her brother being basically behind the wheel now or implied to be.
Gets a bit spicy, readmore.
//Stella while I do just see her as a cardboard cutout as an abuser? I don't even think her intention to being a villain is bad. But make her a far more interesting one than just a plot device imo.
//Stolas I think while I like him, he does get his ass patted a lot in terms of getting a free pass for being a canon gay character by the community. Or very like 'oh woe is me' dynamics sewn onto him, he's being abused etc. It overall felt really weird when Stella has abused Stolas less than Loona has to her dad, then it's played up for laughs. I think I remember someone saying it played like, a protagonist perspective or something etc by someone when in passing and I have to agree with both that Canon Angel Rper and the Angel Dust I remember... albeit don't quote me on all of this/I won't name drop either of them or elude to who bc I know how stupid ppl are about this ship and character. Though I'm pretty sure they both can handle the heat.

Complaining out the gate done:
-
What was done well with a mix of how it can be done better.
//I think the general idea is fine, that Octavia is closer to Stolas or even Stella being a vindictive evil bitch. It's more of how it arrives at the execution, along with the constant shielding that's done or the feeling that some had against Stolas of being a cheater. Then quite obviously later making it clear why he's a cheater or that it's fine, it's not really subverting intentions or what's expected when it's something normally considered pretty bad. It just feels like trying to explain it all away tbh.
//I think my biggest issue is that Stolas is not a good person, but I would consider him one better than Stella morally probably. Though I do think his recklessness also contrasts with how he cares about Octavia, I wish his relationship with Blitz would show how it effects them both due to the fact we see no real supposed consequence of them both dating. Only just basically being mocked by Ozzy and that was it even if it's taboo even among Hell in the Goetia Clan. S2 has yet to end so maybe that'll change tho.
//Regardless, I wouldn't be making these opinions as I had never intended to take Helluva Boss seriously as a series. It was clear to me at the time for how Vizi said and intended it to be a sideplot/more jokey stuff. It's why I even have some of the opinions that I do on the characters.
//I don't think she shouldn't try, but I do think that Stolas and Stella is probably the most sloppily handled thing in the series to the point of almost being irresponsible, but not quite there yet lol. I think Vizi probably needed someone to go over her work if she was going to present anything serious like Stolas, Stella and then Stryker etc. As of course if you pick it apart it all starts becoming undone and you could say 'oh it's just the sideplot, oh it's just the comedy, oh it's just blah blah'. Look, if she didn't present serious plot-like elements and complex heavy topics presented in a way that's not really just a one-off serious thing but ongoing? Then maybe, just maybe people wouldn't take it as seriously, which is a shame, as ppl like it anyway, but I do think it could've been something much more special than it is now currently.
