Ah what the heck I'll post it through here
So in some discord servers, you've seen me specualte that Amane's uniform is inspired by the private Catholic Fukuoka Kaisei girl's school affiliated primary school (福岡海星女子学院附属小学校)
Tumblr media
Now, because of the name, I assumed this was an all girls primary school And that the picture above was of 4 girls and the school simply allowed children to wear either skirts or shorts (its uncommon for Japanese elementary schools to have uniform to begin with so I could see a laxer dress code when it comes to stuff like this)
However After a bit more reading of their website Turns out that the Fukuoka Kaisei girl's school affiliated primary school Despite the name Has in fact been a co-ed/mixed gender primary school for the last 50-so years And while I can't find a dress code on their website It does seem like all the students in pictures on their site who wear shorts are boys
Anyway to cut a long story short: Amane's uniform actually resembles the boys one more than the girls (shorts instead of skirt + no ribbon + more central buttons)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I know you like the trans girl Amane theory so I figured you'd enjoy this info
The only disclaimer I have to give is that the long haired child whose father tattles on Amane is in the same uniform (shorts and all)
Tumblr media
So like if this is a girl then occam's razor is that girls at Amane's school just wear shorts (also it'd be strange for Amane's cult to follow gender rolls Except for hair?? idk maybe im overthinking)
TRANS AMANE BELIEVERS WE MIGHT STAY WINNING!!!! It would be weird if they did follow the entire dress code Except for the hair. Additionally those buttons are tripping me up since their Buttoned like the girls so this actually comes somewhere more in the middle of the Both of them...if it does turn out my insane "Amane perceives gender in the same way a cat does, it's just there" catthing Amane idea is real I'm going to explode.
Regarding the girl though...I can't believe I can unveil my insane Queer Infighting Amane idea- okay so in cults it's generally heavily encouraged to outright spy and tattle on people who misbehave:
(BITE)
Information Control: Encourage spying on other members a. Impose a buddy system to monitor and control member b. Report deviant thoughts, feelings and actions to leadership c. Ensure that individual behavior is monitored by group
I think, and this is pure speculation there's is very little supporting this I just like the idea. It be fun if they were BOTH trans.
My reasoning behind this is, first of all Amane doesn't seem to have many friends. Her T2 distorted voiceline has her say:
Father is a very praiseworthy person. Once his virtue increases, he'll come back home, right? It's a little lonely, but I'm fine!
Which, okay it's fair that her homelife is lonely, this doesn't necessarily inform her school life. But if we go to the Prison she's rather isolated overall.
Even in T1. Yuno and Mahiru are people she considers "close" but that's after mulling it over a bit due to being asked.
T1Q10: Is there any prisoner you're close with? A: If I were to say, I guess it would be Yuno and Mahiru.
It's not for a lack of Trying, she tries very hard actually. It's just that people tend to note the way she acts is weird and that gets exasperated in T2 where it's said she's pretty isolated.
But also, I was discussing with a mutual about her relation with this peer and they said that it's possible that this question:
T2Q11: Did you love the person you killed? A: I loved them.
Is referring to a Second Victim (This child) and Not her mother because...well one Amane has shown Very Little Fondness for her mother, and two it's entirely possible she killed multiple people because her staff in Purge March has blood on it Before she gets to her house.
Second thing: Cat Symbolism, Cat Symbolism stay winning forever. There is substantial amount of subtext you can wring out of the Cat being representative of sin and impurity, and Amane taking care of it and also being the Cat. Same with having her be "found out" by a peer and then sold out to, to her Religious Fundamentalist parents.
So now we go into my insane, circumstantial evidence, idea of Queer Infighting. I love WKTD and a big thing in that game is that even if your a "bad kid" if there's someone "worse" than you, you can live another day. And this kid can be anyone, the devil can be Anyone.
Amane has stated an inability to be a good girl:
Only if, only if, only if I could be a good girl
And a lack of desire to exactly "be one" since it requires her not being...herself, and she's happy with who she is.
T2Q20: How do you feel about you not being like everyone else? A: Nevertheless I was born as myself, so I'm happy
So, I'm just saying on a purely speculatory "this would be fun" basis. If we got queer infighting 12 year olds who are trying their best to be "good." I would explode.
Also, she is paralleled with both Mukuhara Kazui and known Genderless Freak Es so, yknow.

5 and 9 for Crislie? :D
5. How did you figure out your oc's identity?
In stages, slowly, over time!
I started writing Heralds of Rhimn when I was about fourteen-fifteenish, and the thing about a story you start at fifteen is that it's probably going to change a lot as you change. It's pretty wild to remember this now, but originally;
There were five main characters, all the same age.
No gods, oddly enough.
Crislie's weapon was a sword, not an ax, because she was The Mainest Character and everybody knows that's who you give the sword to in tropey YA stories.
Navaeli was a boy. (And half-dragon!)
Meparik was Crislie's love interest, not Navaeli! That's probably the weirdest thing that was going on with these early drafts.
So, Crislie started off with two base identity traits; girl (pugnacious) and boyliker (romantic).
Over time, I adapted the story and shifted things around. The extra main characters got ported over to Toybox (Saph & Vio!), Meparik aged down, Crislie & Vae aged up and subsequently paired up.
By that point, I'd wised up to the fact that i was a girlliker and that girlliking was Fine Actually. So I began to think to myself . . . was if . . . Navaeli was girl . . . and what if . . . girl kissed other girl still? And that's how Navaeli became metatextually (and textually, but that doesn't get talked about until later in the series) trans! And also how Crislie became bi.
As I started to write their relationship, I realized that they were both approaching their attraction differently. Navaeli was quietly thirsty under the surface. Meanwhile, Crislie . . . didn't have that? At first I thought I was writing the chemistry wrong.
Then it kind of hit me like a brick; Crislie does like Navaeli, she's just not thinking that much about it in a "becky lemme smash" way. So I plonked "ace" down at the end of her label, and bam. Bi ace.
And also poly now that Gildhe has entered the picture.
And also maybe not just girl now that I'm exploring the wyfwolf thing?
Gender on Rhimn is it's own neon-labeled can of trolli gummy worms, so I think I'll touch on it in the next question!
9. Are there cultural or lore specific aspects to their identity? If applicable, does their species affect it?
At the beginning, there wasn't, but now there is.
Okay, so! There are a few important things to know about how Rhimn does gender;
Rhimn is matriarchal. This was true before the Reckoning, and is still true afterward.
For "Alluari had a bad time after the Reckoning and took it out on a whole gender" reasons, conservative parts of Ullua are very strict about gender roles.
For "technically the god ruling us is a Guy, therefore let's pretend that Sexism is Solved" reasons, Gadhi generally doesn't think too hard about its gender norms, even when it should.
(TBH I think Gardhe has the same sense of gender as Nathaniel Finch, ie "it is irrelevant to me but you can call me he, sure." Diversity win, the main antagonist is agender!)
For a variety of reasons (lots of intersex fey, culture of picking their own names & genders, being seen as being below/above human social norms, etc), gender nonconformity is more accepted in feyries than humans.
Due to the influence of feyrie culture, Rhimn has four separate gender categories; male, female, ungendered, and bestial.
The categories are generally associated with he/him, she/her, they/them, and it/its pronouns respectively, but that's not universal. Most wyfwolves consider themselves bestial but use she/her, and Tincre identifies as ungendered while using it/its.
I am probably going to write some in-universe sociology papers about the gender stuff, but bestial in particular is an interesting gender!
It would probably be considered nonbinary/xenogender on Earth, along with the ungendered category, but it's actually grouped more closely with female on Rhimn. Both femininity and feral gender norms lean on aggression. Also, Lykari, the divine being most associated with this gender, is still verifiably a goddess, though not a lady about it.
(Also connects to why Meparik gets "he acts femininely how cute" comments in Ullua; Meparik doesn't necessarily identify as the bestial gender, but he doesn't identify as a human, certainly, and his pent-up aggression gets interpreted in some different ways.)
I think at some point in Book Four, Crislie's going to end up in a conversation with Tincre & some of its students about Actually We Have Four Gender and go "Huh. Kinda into this new gender, actually."
So! Bestial gender Crislie! Yeah!

underrated SFF books (YA and Adult)
So uhm, since I keep seeing the same books on my dash all the time (and I like them too, just...there’s more! to read!) here’s a list of less popular SFF books, divided into YA and Adult. I’ve tried to mention when there is lgbt rep and the trigger warnings. Also, books written by poc will be in bold. Please point out any typo or mistake or if I’ve forgotten specific rep/tw mentions.
All of these are books that I’ve read and enjoyed (by enjoyed I mean anything from 3 stars and above), but if anyone wants to add titles please feel free to do so!!
YA:
The Star-Touched Queen by Roshani Chokshi: beautifully written, fairytale-like story rich in mythology (inspired by several Hindu myths. There’s a full list on goodreads indicated by the author herself). Roshani’s prose is gorgeous.
A Crown of Wishes by Roshani Chokshi: it’s a companion novel to The Star-Touched Queen, but both can be read as a standalone. I liked this one more than its companion and I particularly loved how the romance was written (slow burn, but specifically, the author really highlights the mutual respect between the characters, we love to see it).
The Young Elites by Marie Lu: fantasy trilogy set in a world inspired by Renaissance Italy, in which children who survived a mysterious and deadly illness ended up with strange and dangerous powers. Secret societies and a female villain!
The Kingdom of Back by Marie Lu: historical fantasy following Mozart’s sister, Nannerl, a girl as talented as her brother, but afraid of being forgotten because of the lack of opportunities she has to be seen and heard. Nuanced sibling relationship, no romance.
The Midnight Lie by Marie Rutkoski: fantasy f/f romance! Both a coming of age story set in a society with a rigid class system and a slow burn f/f romance with a lot of banter. TW: abuse.
The Weight of Feathers by Anna-Marie McLemore: magical realism. The book follows two families of traveling performers that have been locked in a feud for over a generation. This was the author’s debut and I remember getting an arc of it and being impressed by both the prose and how the forbidden love trope was handled.
When the Moon was Ours by Anna-Marie McLemore: another magical realism novel. One of the main characters is a trans boy and the book focuses on issues of racism and gender. One of my favorite YA!
Strange Grace by Tessa Gratton: fantasy romance set in a village that periodically sacrifices a young man in order to keep a deal with the devil that ensures their prosperity. Also, polyamorous and non-binary rep.
The Rise of Kyoshi by F.C. Yee: first book in a duology following avatar Kyoshi’s life. It explores the political and cultural aspect of the Earth Kingdom and Kyoshi’s past. Bisexual rep.
Descendant of the Crane by Joan He: sort of a murder mystery fantasy, as the main character finds herself suddenly thrust into power once her father has been murdered. The story has a slow build up to a last part full of twists and machinations and it features lots of court intrigue. Warning: the ending is quite open and afaik there isn’t a sequel planned as of now.
The Bone Houses by Emily Lloyd-Jones: a quite unique take on zombies influenced by Welsh mythology (it’s super cool). The novel follows Ryn and their siblings, as they try to get by after their parents’ death by working as gravediggers. Only well, the dead don’t always stay dead. The characters read a bit younger than they are imo. There is chronic pain rep.
The Magnolia Sword by Sherry Thomas: retelling of the original ballad of Mulan. The book follows Mulan, who’s trained her whole life to win a duel for a priceless heirloom, as she joins the army. There’s a lot of political and historical details, which I really appreciated. Do not go into it expecting a fun adventure though. The descriptions of war aren’t extremely graphic, but be aware of the fact that most of the book is set during a conflict.
The Candle and The Flame by Nafiza Azad: standalone fantasy set in a city on the Silk Road! It’s a quite slow-paced tale about love, family and politics. It has lush descriptions of landscapes and cultures (and FOOD, there are some really great descriptions of food). It’s a very atmospheric book and while I struggled a bit with the pace I’d still recommend it.
Forest of a Thousand Lanters by Julie C. Dao: sort of an East Asian inspired retelling of Snow White, but following the Evil Queen before she became Snow White’s stepmother. I honestly haven’t read its sequel (which should focus on Snow White herself), but I do think this can be read and enjoyed as a standalone too.
The Queen’s Thief series by Megan Whalen Turner: it’s hard to point out exactly what this series is about because it has evolved so much with time. It starts out as classic quest/adventure series with The Thief (which may seem a classic and simple book, but is actually full of foreshadowing and has a really clever set up), but develops into a complex and intriguing political fantasy in The Queen of Attolia and The King of Attolia (and then goes back to the quest theme in book 5, Thick as Thieves).
Adult:
A Fist of Permutations in Lightning and Wildflowers by Alyssa Wong: I’m cheating with this one because it’s technically a short story but I love Alyssa Wong’s stories so I’m putting it here anyway. It can be read for free and you should just...read it.
The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang: grimdark fantasy (TW: abuse, self harm, rape, drug abuse), inspired by Chinese history. It’s adult, but follows younger MCs and the unique blend of different historical periods/inspirations makes it extremely interesting. The characters are extremely fucked up in the best possible way, plus the use of shamanism is awesome. Please make sure you check all the TW before reading.
The Sword of Kaigen by M.L. Wang: a Japanese-inspired militaristic fantasy, with elemental magic, a badass housewife dealing with her past and hiding a sword in her kitchen’s floor. It has interesting and nuanced family dynamics and a great reflection on propaganda and the use of narratives.
Empire of Sand by Tasha Suri: first book in an epic fantasy duology inspired by Mughal India (TW: abuse, slavery). I really liked both Empire of Sand and its companion and I find them pretty underrated. Both books have great slow burn romance (with a focus on mutual trust and respect) and focus on culture, religion, self acceptance and politics.
Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia: a fantasy bildungsroman set in Mexico during the Jazz age. It’s a great approach to adult SFF as it follows a young girl on a life changing adventure. It features Mayan mythology and a god slowly becoming human (this trope is everything!).
The Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden: a coming of age story inspired by Russian folklore. The trilogy as a whole has one of the best arcs I’ve ever seen: each book is perfectly self-contained and has its own arc, but also fits perfectly in the bigger picture of the trilogy. The atmosphere is amazing, the cast of characters is extremely well developed. Also frost demons are better than men.
The Binding by Bridget Collins: historical fantasy, but with very minimal fantasy elements. It’s set in a world vaguely reminiscent of 19th century England. I’d say this book is about humans and self discovery. It’s about cowardice and the lies we tell ourselves and those we wish we could tell ourselves. Gay rep. (TW: abuse, sexual assault, pretty graphic suicide scene).
The Divine Cities trilogy by Robert Jackson Bennett: starting with City of Stairs, it follows a female diplomat and spymaster(!!). The whole trilogy features an interesting discussion about godhood, religion, fanatism, politics, without ever being boring or preachy. It has complex and rich world building and a pretty compelling mystery.
Foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennett: heist fantasy following a thief as she’s hired to steal a powerful artifact that may change magical technology as she knows it. Set in a Venice-like merchant city. Also, slow burn f/f romance.
Jade City by Fonda Lee: sort of a gangster urban fantasy, heavily inspired by wuxia and set in an Asian-inspired metropolis. It follows a pretty big cast of characters, each with their own journey and development. It features nuanced family dynamics and a lot of political and economical subplots. Not extremely prominent, but book 2 features m/m side rep.
Trail of Lightning by Rebecca Roanhorse: inspired by Native American culture and specifically by the idea of subsequent worlds. It has a kickass MC and a good mix of original elements and typical UF tropes. TW: the book isn’t extremely violent but there is death and some gore.
A Memory Called Empire by Arkady Martine: space opera inspired by the Mexica and middle period Byzantium. It focuses on topics like colonialism and the power of narratives and language. It has one of the best descriptions of what it’s like to live in between spaces I’ve ever read. Also very interesting political intrigue and has a slow burn f/f romance (and a poly relationship recalled through flashbacks). I ranted a lot about it already.
Ninefox Gambit by Yoon Ha Lee: a Korean-inspired space opera with a magic system based on math. It’s honestly quite convoluted and difficult to follow, but it also features some of the best political intrigue I’ve ever read. Plenty of lying, backstabbing and mind games. It also features lesbian and bisexual rep and an aroace side character (TW: mass shooting, sexual assault, abuse). I also really recommend Yoon Ha Lee’s short-story collection Conservation of Shadows.
The long way to a small angry planet by Becky Chambers: character driven space opera featuring a found family journeying through space. A fun read, that also deals with topics such as sexuality and race. Quite easy to go through, as the world building and plot aren’t particularly complex themselves. f/f romance.
The Empress of Salt and Fortune by Nghi Vo: an Asian-inspired fantasy novella that gives a voice to people usually silenced by history. It follows a cleric (non binary rep) as they chronicle the story of the late empress, retold through objects that she used in her life. It focuses on bonds between women and the power that lies in being unnoticed. f/f side rep.
The Black God’s Drums by P. Djèlí Clark: an urban fantasy novella, based on Orisha mythology and set in an alternate, sort of steampunk, New Orleans. I really like how creative Clark’s worlds are and how good he is at writing female characters (which rarely happens with male authors).
The haunting of tram car 015 by P. Djèlí Clark: novella set in an alternate steampunk Cairo populated by supernatural entities. It’s set in the same world of a Dead Djinn in Cairo, which is a short story you can read for free.
This is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone: epistolary novella set during a time-travel war. It has gorgeous writing and an amazing f/f romance. As a novella, it’s quite short but it’s beautifully crafted and so complex for such a short book!
The Citadel of Weeping Pearls by Aliette de Bodard: a novella set in the Xuya universe (a series of novellas/short stories set in a timeline where Asia became dominant, and where the space age has empires of Vietnamese and Chinese inspiration), but can be read as a standalone. It’s a space opera featuring a disappeared citadel and the complex relationship between the empress and her daughter as war threatens her empire.
One for My Enemy by Olivie Blake: self-published urban fantasy following two rival families in New York. Sort of a Romeo and Juliette retelling but with gangster families and magic. Honestly recommend all of her books, I love how Olivie writes and especially how she writes female characters.

Imagine, a gender fluid teenager like myself has a favourite/feel-good film and that film is “Just One of the Guys,”from the mid 80s.
Picture this: theatre class, we watch “She’s The Man”, a dreamworks film from the 2000s. And yet, the social justice issues within the film are glaringly obvious to today’s society. Don’t get me wrong, it can be a funny film in a group setting - but then there are scenes that are just uncomfortable. Now, we discussed these themes in class, but I just can’t help but think about the film that came before it. Yes, StM (she’s the mans) is a modern day adaption of Shakespeare’s “Twelfth Night” but I was thinking about the modern day adaption before StM, “Just One of the Guys” from the mid 80s.
I love this film. For multiple reasons, which I hope to discuss.
Number one, our main character. Terry Griffith is stubborn. If she thinks something is right, she won’t let anyone say no or get in her way. Now in some cases, this is great. It’s definitely a shift in the usual romantic comedy female lead (especially for the 80s). But it’s one of her biggest flaws. In the beginning, Terry doesn’t win a contest for a part-time job at the Sun Tribune. She believes her article was amazing, but she speaks with her English teacher and he gives it to her straight. “You don’t have what it takes to be a reporter.” Her article is boring; it’s about the nutritional value of the lunch menu in the school cafeteria, of course it’s boring. But the words her teacher tells her has her convinced it’s because she’s a woman. Thus, she leaves school for two weeks and transfers as a buy to another school who are holding the same competition. Once she gives her article, she is told almost the same thing, but this time, she’s given proper feedback to improve it. Of course, there was some irony with this scene between Terry and the teacher. “Just because you’re guy, doesn’t mean you can’t be sensitive or light.” Thing is, she doesn’t give up, she strives to fix it and finds a new angle. I love her determination, I love the way she doesn’t let others push her around. Furthermore, her transition to a man. In StM, Viola as a guy is made to be cringey and comedic, you watch and think, there’s no way a guy would do that. But Terry, having grown up with a younger brother and is actually smart, manages to nail the role. Sure, she has slip-ups, but she stays afloat and she’s not being over the top. She’s chill and convincing, yet you as the audience can tell she’s trying to appear masculine. Her lines are witty and she’s sharp. Someone has something to say, she’ll be able to backtrack and answer with a joke or sarcasm quickly. I like smart characters.
Another point, the way women are written in this film. A lot of women in this film are treated like shit, but it’s probably a realistic depiction of the 80s. Everyone is talking about dating and sex, it seems to be the only topic the women in this film speak about, unless they are Terry. Terry seems to be the only character in this film whose main goal is not romance or sex. She strives to be a reporter, she wants to prove herself, and she rejects the advances upon her frequently. Whether it’s the boys asking her on dates in halls, or her own boyfriend attempting to seduce her when her parents aren’t home, she doesn’t put them above herself, yet she still lets them down easily, unless they become more pushy (case in point, her boyfriend, Kevin, in the beginning). She can stand up for herself, but she’s not the only one. Her best friend, Denise is one of the many women looking for love, nevertheless, she holds standards. I will admit, I didn’t like Denise’s acting in the beginning; she’s not a great character, but even she manages to reject men’s advances constantly. She’s not afraid to say it bluntly and she expresses her true emotions when certain guys try to ask her out. She tells it to them straight, and I respect her for that (despite her lack of empathy for some). Terry’s brother is constantly hitting on Denise, but she stands her ground. She doesn’t hit him or curse him out, she spins words around him and always lead back to the key word “no.”
This is my third, and maybe final point, (because I’m not great at writing but I’m starting to get tired) the way they handle sexual orientation. It seems if you’re going to make a film about a cross-dressing woman who falls in love with a man, you have to discuss sexuality and this film is not afraid to. That was my biggest beef with StM, when Viola confessed her love to Duke, the made it blatantly clear that it was “weird” and “unusual”; the editing and music cuts. It was done for comedic purposes, but in that moment, it just made me cringe. Even when the principal marched onto the field during the big match to expose Sebastian as “the woman he was all along,” he used a big megaphone and said to the whole crowd this man is in fact a girl. If it were to happen in the real world, and this character was a trans male, that would be traumatizing and so so insensitive. I couldn’t help thinking the way they handled the reveal in StM was poor and shitty.
But with JOotG (just one of the guys)? It’s done respectfully. Throughout the film, Buddy, Terry’s younger, sex-obsessed brother (I have thoughts on this character), often refers to Terry as a transvestite or sexually confused. They make references about her dating other women and jokes. It’s not treated like taboo, but just something people normally talk about, and as a questioning kid when I first watched the film, I really needed that. Although it was used for jokes, the fact that it wasn’t treated like a silent topic made me think more of it and discover who I was; it was media like this that made me accept myself.
Even with the reveal. Kevin, Terry’s boyfriend (or ex boyfriend by the end), stomps up to Terry after she’s wrestled with the school bully and was dumped into the waves at prom. Rick, who’s been Terry’s friend (and is the male lead) throughout her time at his high school, immediately questions who Kevin is and he responds with a harsh and sure “Terry’s boyfriend.” Of course, that doesn’t expose Terry as female, but makes Rick assume she’s a homosexual. But instead of calling her weird or replying negatively, he answers Kevin’s question calmly and says he’s just a friend. There is no prejudice, no disgust, Rick is shocked, but that’s expected. Furthermore, this reveal not only does not alienate homosexuality, it puts the center of focus on the main characters rather than have the whole audience/prom witness this exchange. Sure, the rest of the school is watching but the camera never pans over to them, and even then, Terry drags Rick away from the crowds to a secluded area to explain more.
Even once they’re secluded, Rick doesn’t yell at her or is homophobic. He just says “I understand, you’re gay.” As we know, Terry is not in fact gay and she reveals this to him in a similar fashion as StM, at least it’s not flashing a whole crowd. But the thing that hits me, is the fact that it’s not used as a joke or for comedy. Throughout the film, they’ve mentioned homosexuality and being transgender, but it was used as a light-hearted joke (nothing insulting or derogatory). In this moment, it’s not a joke, and it’s the bare minimum for a emotional scene like this, but it always hits me.
Of course, Rick gets justifiably mad that he’s been deceived and he storms off. Terry’s flaw catches up to her here, as she kisses him in front of the prom guests, stubborn to make him realize how much she cares. ( I didn’t agree with this action to be frank, I cringed ). The crowd gasps and it’s the usual reaction to a homosexual kiss and Rick just pulls back, says “It’s alright everyone, he’s got tits,” and leaves with Deborah.
In true romantic comedy fashion, life moves on. Terry gets the job at the Sun-Tribune after writing her article about posing as a guy and everyone who was longing for love in the beginning has found it, except Terry. The ending, however, is Rick coming back for her after a couple (days? Weeks? Idk all I know is it’s summer by the time he comes back, how much space between prom and summer?) and they kiss, go on a date and all is good.
Now after writing this long ass post, I’ve come to realize the main reason I like this film. Sure, Terry is a good character (not morally sometimes, but she’s interesting to watch), the way women are presented also is good, but my main source of affection for this film (in comparison to StM) is the way they handle the switching of genders. I’m gender fluid, I don’t always like being a woman or a man, I switch almost daily and half the time can’t decide if I want to grow out my hair or cut it. Seeing Terry, originally a woman, manage to convince people she was a guy made me wish I could do it too. It made me realize, I don’t always like being a woman. I want to be a guy sometimes, and I want that to be accepted. It was media like this, like Ouran High School Host Club, like Bare: A Pop Opera, that made me understand my gender and sexuality. (Even media that didn’t have any relation to LGBTQ+ helped).
When I first heard of “She’s the Man”, I had hoped it would be like these pieces of media. And it wasn’t. It was an alright film, but made me feel disappointed and somewhat let down. And that’s why I just prefer Just One of the Guys. Maybe it wouldn’t float in today’s political climate, maybe I’m wrong for seeing these points as reasons it’s one of my favorites, but its still better than StM and is one of my favourite films.

This is me trying to write by and for the Trans community, specially FTM community, meaning, trans guys, but I actually took the liberty to use They/them pronouns for everyone out there who´s interested (Also, the name Beck was the most neutral one I could find, trying to use the cannon Bea Hughes)
If you have any comment, PLEASE BE RESPECTFULL and patient with me. This is also my first english fanfic and english is not my mother language, so… i’m sorry fo the grammar errors. I also installed recently Grammary, so… hope its worth it.

Chapter nine
ONE-SHOTS
Just a dance (Zoey x MC)
——————————————————————
Poppy:
See you then, tushi face 😉
She wrote on her phone, knowing very well what It meant: She succeeded. Again.
That was the very first time Beck had actually asked her out, which was a sign that every single move worked just right; nothing to be surprised though, she was pretty damn fabulous and she wouldn't pretend otherwise.
"It took you a while, actually." Veronica said later that day when Poppy reached out to their friends at the fraternity house. "Nor even Carter gave you so much trouble."
"Carter is just an immature boy who thought a pretty girl plus a gigantic football player were just meant to be." The blonde responded with a snap. "Beck's slightly different, they didn't care for a face. The trick is to be yourself, but not too much. It took me a while to figure that out, but now that I get it, that one is mine to be borrowed." A strange feeling of satisfaction filled her, making her smile at that thought.
"But... have you guys fuck?" Chloe asked suddenly with a confused gaze, Poppy couldn't help but roll her eyes as hard as she could while she felt how both of her friends were watching her, gosh, even Veronica left the phone aside just for that question.
"What the hell, Chloe? Not everything's about sex, you whore."
"Are you serious?" She heard her brunette friend said, intrigued. Poppy could smell the problems that what she just said was about to bring. There it was one simple rule: If Poppy wants it, Poppy has it, and it has been like this since ever. So yeah, that matter was definitely weird. "Why? Don't you tell me you're too afraid to do it."
"Of course not!" She said angrily. "I did my research, and fucking Beck’s no different from any other experience I've had. I think it is them who's not ready..." A tiny hint of concern showed up in Poppy's voice without helping it. Of course she noticed it! The relief coming from their eyes when Zoey walked into both of them, as if they were scared, and being caught in the middle was a much better option than to actually do it. She was so offended by it that she told them she had something to do and disappeared from there.
"I think it might have something to do with their life back at Farmsville. I don't know what it is, but if I get to sleep with them, I know I'd have won. That's the next step." Poppy said, taking a ballpen from her desk to write down her new goal, she was that kind of girl who loved to put her ideas on paper to think them through.
"So… You're counting on gain their trust enough to fuck them to finally control them?" Veronica pointed out, looking at Poppy as if she was a mad.
"Exactly… And all I need is tomorrow morning. It needs to be perfect and I have just the thing for it." a smirk showed off on her face, the determination of winning was written down on every single muscle of her body.
“Don’t you think you’re putting a lot more effort into it than it’s needed?” Chloe asked again.
“Mind your own business and let me do the planning, Chloe. After all, we know you forgot to pay your brain bill.”
The bitch-y mode was on. She hated when she was being questioned about her actions especially when Poppy knew that everything she has been doing was necessary to achieve a goal; her enemy was powerful, she just had to see the rankings to realize it, Beck climbed as easy as the wind, doing things in this short time than a lot of people couldn’t do in years being here and they didn’t seem as trying. She needed to have them next to her for control.
Or at least, that's what she was telling herself. Something deep down her core murmured something else, something that might be too scary to admit, so she won’t. Never. However, that went down to the trash when she saw Beck the next day. It wasn’t their looks at all, actually, it was on point as always even though it was casual; the problem was her. Poppy could feel her heart becoming warm to the sight of that stupid lamb look of theirs with that sexy yet cute fucking smile they gave her. A little red alarm sounded in her head, but it wasn’t that big of a deal, so she shoved it down.
"Hey" Beck greeted her. "You made it."
"Of course I did, I have a driver for my needs. What are we doing here?"
Beck asked her to meet them at Whitehall street at nine sharp, but they didn't tell her what to expect, so Poppy was rather curious. Beck put his hands in his pockets, raising an eyebrow playfully.
"Yeah, sure… You have money and stuff, but… have you ever seen the Statue of Liberty from a helicopter?" Poppy's eyes went wide open, she was frankly surprised, how did they manage to get that? Wasn't Beck poor? It had to do with their YouTube account?
"No." She managed to say, trying not to sound so amazed; that was a pretty impressive idea, not going to lie.
"Well— Today is not the day you'd get to do it, because we're taking the ferry." Gosh, she should have seen this coming.
"You're such an idiot." She pointed, irritated by having been fooled like that. "Wait, what ferry are we taking?"
"That one." The strawberry blond could have sworn a mischievous spark lighted up Beck's eyes as they pointed at an awful orange ship coming to shore, that ferry looked so old that maybe it saw her grandmother born and grow.
"What?! There is no way in hell I'll be onto that thing."
"Oh, come on, Popps. Don't talk about it like that. The Staten Island Ferry is full of a butch of history on its own. It's the door to new experiences!"
"Like death?"
"It's totally safe." Beck replied chuckling. "And free."
"Whatever you say, I'm going home." She tried to go, but Beck's hand took her by the arm with a delicate touch.
"Give us a chance, just one chance —well, maybe two actually— but I promise you won't regret it."
Poppy turned to see them, still not sure about any of it. She had never been on that ferry, and she didn't care too much about it anyway when the destination was Staten Island. She didn't know what was their motivation to go to the most boring part of all New York, but that fucking face of theirs! Sometimes she wished they weren't that good-looking.
"I swear to God, Beck if something happens to me or my outfit I'll kill you and your entire music career."
"Yeah, yeah, whatever you say, Cruella."
They waited for a few minutes to get on the ferry, but once both were there, Poppy couldn't help but cling herself to Beck's arm. Truth be told, she hated boats. A lot. Once when she was a kid she fell from one of those little keels into the lake, and when she tried to come out, Poppy discovered that the boat was right above her head. She literally had nightmares about that day, especially on rainy days. With the time Poppy got to overcome that fear and now she loved to be invited to yacht parties —with the rightful security system, clearly—, but that ferry was ancient for god knows how many decades, and it being free was a bad forerunner to her, how many drowned people were behind all its story?
She jumped when the ferry started to move into the waters, the surprise was so much that her nails dug their way into Beck's clothes, reaching for the skin.
"Ouch! That fucking hurts!"
"Good."
Beck didn't say a thing after that, they were more focused on the shore as if they were waiting for something to happen back there. Then, after a while they smiled.
"Now that's a view." They said with a wide grin on their face. "Turn around." Poppy, who was too busy looking at the Upper Bay and thinking how awful would be to fall from there, suddenly found herself being turned over by Beck to the other side of the ship.
And what she saw was spectacular.
Maybe it wasn't from a helicopter at all, but getting to see that part of the Statue of Liberty going far and far away from them both was incredible, a breathtaking picture that she had never appreciated until that day. Unexpectedly that made her think about how much she was missing even after living in New York a while now: The smell of the ocean, the sea breeze hitting softly in her face, the sun illuminated the statue and the clouds behind it. It was like a painting coming out alive.
"It's beautiful…" she whispered without her noticing it until it was outside her mouth.
"Definitely it is…" Poppy heard Beck mumbled, so she looked at them almost immediately. Maybe it was one of those moments in movies where Beck would talk about her and not exactly the panorama, but no. Beck's eyes were glued to the sculpture. For a moment she felt disappointed, but then she caught a glimpse of blush into their cheeks and tension in their lips proving her that she wasn't wrong. Yes, definitely they were talking about her.
"I know it doesn't look as fancy as the other ferries, but… this is why it's worth the while. And I have to admit that watching it with you was so much better than doing it alone, so... thank you."
“Why?"
"For trusting in me." They said. Poppy stopped a little, thinking through those words.
"I guess I like you more than I thought." She then replied. The weird thing? The blonde actually meant what she said. But that didn’t mean anything, Beck was not as lame as she thought, no big deal, right?
Both spent a while like that, quiet but freely relaxed, looking at what the ocean had to offer. She didn't recall the exact moment when she started to do it, but at one point she laid down her head, resting it on Beck's shoulder while they hugged by the waist, it was as if in that exact moment nothing else mattered; she didn’t have to think about her obligations, about popularity, about pretending . The ride was about twenty-five minutes long but for some reason, they went very fast. She almost was disappointed when it came to an end until she remembered there was only one way back.
“So now what? We wait for the next ferry?”
Beck raised an eyebrow.
"Do you really think we came all the way here because of one ride?"
"Beck, is Staten Island. What else could you do?"
"Damn, Poppy. I'm starting to think you're too boring on your own." Beck teased
" What if you stop saying bullshit and tell me what do you have planned from now on instead?" Beck smiled as if they were waiting for that question.
"Come with and find out." That cursed smirk of theirs came as a challenge, while Beck started to walk towards the bus stop.
God, this was going to be terrible.

IT’S FINALLY DONE! Every year, the Rainbow Book List Committee has more books to review, because literature is slowing getting queerer, and children’s and YA lit are at the forefront of that change. This year, our committee of 13 people had to review nearly 500 eligible titles, and 130 (well, 129) were good enough and queer enough to make the list. There were so many terrific books that we got a special dispensation to create TWO Top Ten lists--the first time the committee has done so! The Top Tens are below, and please visit the link above for the full list.
I’m proud of our committee’s focus on diversity--along lines of race, ethnicity, queer identity, and even genre. At least half of the Top Ten Books for Young Readers and seven of the Top Ten for Teen Readers are about characters of color, and most of those were written by authors of color. We also tried to feature as many different letters of the alphabet soup as possible. I’ve noted the racial and LGBTQIA+ rep for the books that I’ve read.
Here are the Top Ten Books for Young Readers:
Tumblr media
Ana on the Edge by Sass, A.J. Ages 8 to 12. Sports Fiction/Figure Skating. MC is nonbinary and Jewish-Chinese-American. Ana is a champion figure-skater. She hates her new princess-themed program, but how can she tell her mother that, when it cost so much money? And why does it bother her so much, anyway? When she finds the word ‘nonbinary,’ she realizes why the program doesn’t fit, but she still has a lot of work to do repairing relationships that have suffered in the meantime.
The Deep & Dark Blue by Smith, Niki. Ages 8 to 12. Fantasy. One of 2 MCs is a trans girl, all characters appear to be Southeast Asian. A pair of twins flee after a political coup that puts their lives at risk. They decide to disguise themselves as Hanna and Grayce, two girls living in the Communion of the Blue, an order of weaving women who spin magic like wool. What one twin doesn’t know is that, for the other, being Grayce isn’t a disguise. This is a beautiful story about self-discovery, acceptance, and affirmation.
Drawing on Walls: A Story of Keith Haring by Burgess, Matthew and Josh Cochran (Illustrator). Ages 6 to 14. Biography. MC is a white gay man. This colorful picture-book biography traces the life and art of Keith Haring.
The Every Body Book: LGBTQ+ Inclusive Guide for Kids about Sex, Gender, Bodies, and Families by Simon, Rachel E. and Noah Grigni (Illustrator). Ages 8 to 12. Nonfiction/Health. Various identities and races included. Filled with self-affirming information, The Every Body Book uses inclusive language, illustrations, and facts to cover a number of important topics for young people including consent, relationships, gender, sex, puberty, and hormones.
King and the Dragonflies by Callender, Kacen. Ages 8 to 12. Realistic Fiction. MC is a gay black boy, his best friend is a gay white boy. King’s family–especially his father–have strong opinions about what it means to be a Black man, and they don’t allow for being gay. But King admires his friend Sandy for escaping an abusive home and living his truth no matter what. If King comes out, too, can his father learn to change?
Magic Fish by Nguyen, Trung Le. Ages 12 and up. Realistic Fiction/Fantasy. MC is a gay Vietnamese-American boy. A young Vietnamese-American boy literally can’t find the words to tell his parents that he’s gay, but cross-cultural fairytales help bridge the language barrier in this beautifully-illustrated graphic novel.
My Maddy by Pitman, Gayle E. and Violet Tobacco (Illustrator). Ages 4-8. Realistic Fiction. MC’s parent is nonbinary, MC and her parent are white. My Maddy is a heartwarming story about a young girl and her parent. Readers learn that not all parents are boys or girls; some parents are just themselves. In this young girl’s case, that parent is her Maddy, a loving, caring parent who lives outside the gender binary.
My Rainbow by Neal, DeShanna, Trinity Neal, and Art Twink (Illustrator). Ages 4-8. Realistic Fiction. MC is an autistic black trans girl. Loving illustrations help tell the story of how an infant abandoned in a NYC subway station was adopted by the man who found him and his partner.

And here are the Top Ten Books for Teen Readers:
Tumblr media
All Boys Aren’t Blue: A Memoir-Manifesto by Johnson, George M. Ages 14 to 18. Memoir. Author/MC is a gay Black man. “Memoir-manifesto” is a well-chosen label for this book, which relates stories from the author’s childhood and young adulthood and contextualizes them within a queer Black experience. Although the author’s family is loving and supportive, pervasive heteronormativity, queerphobia, and anti-Black racism threaten his mental, emotional, and physical safety.

For Randy, going away to Camp Outland is a breath of fresh air, a time to be exactly who Randy can’t always be at school. But this year will be different. In this OwnVoices novel, Elatsoe is on a mission to discover who killed her beloved cousin, and why. If not for her cousin, then she is doing this for her people, the Indigenous Lipan Apache tribe. Elatsoe has the ability to raise ghosts from the dead, a tradition that has been passed down through generations. On this journey it will take vulnerability, wit, and the legends of her people for Elatsoe to understand all that is hidden in the small town of Willowbee.
I’ll Be the One by Lee, Lyla. Ages 13 and up. Realistic Fiction. MC is a bi Korean-American girl, her love interest is a bi Korean boy. Miss Meteor by Mejia, Tehlor Kay and Anna-Marie McLemore. Ages 14 and up. Magical Realism. (I haven’t read this one, but I think both MCs are WLW Latinas.) Lita is a star – literally. In this affectionate rom-com, Liz Lighty finds herself an unlikely candidate for prom queen at her affluent suburban school. Shy, awkward, Black, and low-income, Liz has never felt like she belonged, and she can’t wait to leave for her dream college. But when her scholarship falls through, it seems her last resort is to win prom queen, and the scholarship money that comes with it. Liz’s plan is complicated when new girl Mack decides to run for prom queen also…and ends up running away with Liz’s heart.
War Girls by Onyebuchi, Tochi.  Ages 12 and up. Science Fiction/Afro-Futurism. Both MCs are Nigerian, one is a WLW. In a not-so-distant future, climate change and nuclear disasters have made much of the earth unlivable. In the midst of war in Nigeria, two sisters, Onyii and Ify, are torn apart and face two very different futures. As their lives progress through years of untold violence and political unrest, battles with deadly mechs and cyborg soldiers outfitted with artificial limbs and organs, they are brought together again and again and must come to terms with how the war has impacted their lives.
When We Were Magic by Gailey, Sarah. Ages 14 and up. Contemporary Fantasy. MC is a white bi/questioning girl with gay dads, her friends are racially, ethnically, and queerily diverse. This firecracker of a novel follows a group of friends who attempt to correct the accidental murder of a classmate. When We Were Magic combines magic, friendship, and awkward moments to create a captivating story. Each character brings their own uniqueness to the strong group of friends, but despite their differences, their loyalty remains. Author Sarah Gailey has written another page turning novel, with the quirky strange content to boot.

Nude Wars
A commission for @chloe-gayzer with this old headcanon post as the inspiration! It’s just very cute and sexual, no real plot involved except for the fact they’re sending nudes to each other and gotta bone?
Reblogs and comments > Likes
Fandom: Apex Legends
Relationship: Bangalore/Lifeline
Warnings: R18+/NSFT, Trans gal Lifeline with verbiage for her bits being cock/dick/etc, digital lovin via two gals sending each other nudes, otherwise p tame kink wise, oral is performed on both parties but NOT penetration, just very fluffy and lovey.
Words: 3.6k
It takes three weeks into their relationship before Ajay opens up about sexual ideas.
Ajay made a small error having mistaken Anita’s confidence for something more than just what it was. Anita had coughed on her water, freckled cheeks burning and a look in her eye that screamed embarrassment. It had taken everything in Ajay to not coo at her face or pinch her cheeks, and to actually talk to her openly about the idea- and even if she would be INTO that sort of thing. She was the more teasing of the two, after all.
Ajay finds herself gradually more and more open with her girlfriend as their relationship grows. Whether that meant showing something a little more, or getting to know her more than the person Anita showed herself to be on the battlefield.
She quickly finds out how Anita reacts well to selfies, then upgrading to a little more…revealing images had been the icing on the cake. After, of course, making sure that she was into something a little more. Anita’s reactions were always over the top, or matched with a similar revealing selfie, a small battle. A small way of opening up more in vulnerable ways that involved slivers of flesh that made Ajay whine with the need to bite.
But it was a battle, nevertheless, that Ajay loved to keep up with.
~Rest under the cut~
Their relationship had been a surprise to a few of the other legends. Makoa had laughed when he figured it out, clapping Ajay on the back in congratulations and nearly knocking her smaller frame right over. He’d been gleeful about the situation, considering it finally put an answer to the question of what was making his close friend smile at her phone so often and shy away from his poking, playful questions. Or her acting strangely in the arena as if she was looking for something.
Now, more open about their relationship, interviewers switched from asking them about their matches to about each other. What their inside life was like, who asked who first- the tamer questions were met with answers and a big smile from Ajay who loved to talk about her girlfriend, especially seeing as it got her red behind the scenes. That didn’t mean that she wouldn’t gently switch the conversation over to more on topic of her fight- and champion position- in the ring.
However, Anita was closed, almost flustered to talk about her girlfriend. Though a few times she could be heard quietly chuckling to an interviewer asking questions such as who asked who first. “Don’t really matter, now does it?” She’d say with her smoky tone a bit higher than normal, but Ajay would know why.
Because she didn’t want to let anyone know she turned dark red when Ajay had blatantly told her she liked her and wanted to take her out to eat. Not to mention the fact she’d pointed her manicured finger into Anita’s chest and told her that she’d seen the way she looked at her- especially on the field. Caught red handed lusting after the combat medic that had saved her ass countless times.
It was cute, endearing, really.
Now about six months into the relationship, Ajay would like to say that her tall girlfriend has gotten used to her teasing and poking. Enough to tease and poke back, but never as much as Ajay would.
Ajay’s attention is soon pulled from memories when she hears the soft notification from her phone. She’d been sitting at her desk, reading emails from various people wanting to sponsor her work in the games as well as bringing her doctoring into light with new charities opening up for the local hospitals.
She lets her eyes scan the screen as her hand pats to her right, taking three tries before securing her phone to drag over. She tucks a strand of her loose hair behind her ear, flipping open the notification before pausing when the name pops up. ‘Anita’ with a red heart emoji on either side of the name with ‘image attachment’ written right beneath it.
She’d been gone to the gym, last Ajay had checked. Anita had texted her to let her know she’d be on her way to her place after her routine- something of which she looked forward to.
“I swear if it’s anotha dog…” She muses aloud, sounding tickled at the memory of Anita eagerly texting her pictures of a dog at the gym with its owner. Ajay sighs fondly, flipping open the image only to pause and lean forward in her chair as her eyes take in the view.
Anita sent an image of herself. Clearly mid workout. Gray sweatpants rest low on her hips, only amplified for viewing pleasure is the fact she has her black tanktop pulled up to just beneath her chest. It exposes her solid abs as well as the sharpness of the muscles in her hips, creating divots of a V that make Ajay bite her lip. Her flesh is shiny from sweat, more well defined from the work out causing them to appear tighter. Ajay can see Anita biting the bottom of her tanktop, the image cut from below her nose to about upper thigh, enough to show her smirk and some people behind her to show she’s doing that in the public area.
Oh, that brat.
A sucker for pictures like that, and knowing the game Anita’s trying to play, Ajay quickly runs to the full body mirror scaling her closet door. Her hair was down, lightly waved and curling over her shoulders with her fringe pushed to the side. On her body was a large, black hoodie that was Anita’s she’d stolen, having the Apex symbol over the left breast with the hoodie itself coming to about mid-thigh on her shorter frame. Underneath were just some cute black panties with a red lace trim that did wonders for her ass.
Her hair is a bit of a mess and she looks about ready for sleep- which she was. But, she hums, posing herself and sending one right back.
The image is cute, a little saucy. Of her standing in front of her mirror, pulling her hoodie up above her chest to reveal her slender, smooth form and small breasts. She practically stands on her tiptoes in the image, her wide hips cocked to the side for eyes to wander freely over her freshly shaven flesh. There was a time in her life where she might have tried to hide between her legs, but Anita made her feel…safe. Safe and seen and understood.
The picture shows her from head to toe. Her hand holds the hoodie up to her mouth teasingly to hide her smirk, but her sharp shaped eyes are narrowed in amusement.
When she hits send, she adds a caption right after, “Be careful with what you start, baby girl.” With three heart emojis right after.
“Yes ma’am.” Is the reply back to her near instantly, never ceasing to make Ajay’s cheeks warm and a small smile to make its way to her face.
Emails could wait till tomorrow.
Moving to her bed, Ajay flops down onto it and eagerly waits for the next image. Which comes a few minutes after.
Anita is fresh from the showers. Her tight black boyshorts frame her beautifully with a towel hung around her shoulders, the very edges hiding the generous swells of her large breasts that make Ajay squirm where she is right now. Ajay was normally a tease, but not when it came to nudes like this. She liked for Anita to whine about her body, clear and exposed for her.
But now all Ajay can do is helplessly stare at the image, biting her full lower lip as her eyes scan over the water droplets gracing her thighs and abdomen, wanting to lick them up and force her onto the bed so she could mark her territory wherever she pleased.
If Ajay were more prepared for this situation, maybe dressed in something cuter, maybe she’d be harder to react. But now she’s already half hard in her panties, huffing and squirming a bit and mad at herself for already getting this excited over a few selfies.
But, that’s what happens when your girlfriend is smoking hot.
From there, Ajay relents to dirty talk. Telling her what she’d do to her once she gets her, how she’d make Anita cry and beg for her, how she’ll mark up her throat so high up she can’t hide them. Her fingers are merciless as she types, watching the Read symbol pop up again and again, feeling satisfied every time Anita tries to type only to stop when she receives a new text.
The final blow is when she sends Anita her final picture. Lying on her back, eyes half lidded, two fingers splayed in front of her mouth and tongue lolled out to reveal the stud on her tongue, the image going all the way down to mid-thigh to show her cock peeking out the top of her panties with a flushed red head with beading pre-cum.
The reply of ‘Fuck’ is all Ajay needs to know she’s won- cheating by dirty talking, of course, but still a win.
Then comes the waiting game of Anita coming home.
When Anita does finally come home, Ajay is quick to pounce on her at the door. Literally. Leaping into her arms just as Anita is able to kick off her socks and shoes. She pulls herself up into Anita’s arms, hooking her legs around her hips and arms around her neck.
“Hello to you too-” Anita can barely breathe out before her cheeks are being cupped and she’s being kissed. Her gym bag slides off her arm with a bit of a shimmy needed before she can hook an arm underneath Ajay’s ass to keep her afloat. She weighed practically nothing to her, easy to hold, but her muscles were sore from her workout so it was a bit of a struggle.
Her grunt only makes Ajay smile against her mouth, stroking her thumbs across Anita’s cheekbones as she guides the kiss to something deeper. Parting her full lips in a rhythm Anita matches so she can slide her pierced tongue along her girlfriend’s who makes such a pretty sound when Ajay licks into her mouth.
An exhale rushes from Anita’s nose, and Ajay is briefly aware of her back brushing the corner of the doorway in a small bonk that makes her part from the kiss with a breathy laugh. “Bit dizzy, baby?”
“You try carrying a whole person after a workout routine.”
The quick snark back makes Ajay beam brightly, showing the dimples on her cheeks that Anita absentmindedly presses a kiss to as soon as she can. Which becomes after they cross the threshold of Ajay’s bedroom door. She almost trips on the cute pink, fluffy rug Ajay has on the floor, but manages to only knock herself forward and drop her girlfriend onto the bed. Who is quick to hook her legs so Anita is forced to fall with her.
There’s laughter bubbling out of Ajay’s chest in a way that makes Anita’s heart swell, moving blindly until her lips can find the ones curved upwards into a blinding smile. The noise she’s rewarded with is a soft, delighted hum before Ajay’s cupping the back of her neck, pushing her nails up along Anita’s scalp to lightly press at her head to urge her to kiss deeper.
And just like that, they’re back in motion.
A moan blossoms from Ajay’s chest when Anita starts kissing down her neck. Open mouthed, hot, and making her shudder when she finally seals her lips to begin sucking a bruise. “Ah- do ya know how temptin ya looked out there?” Ajay manages to breathe out, her breath quickening when Anita pulls back to give her a half lidded look.
Always so hungry for her attention, her voice, her everything. Anita was such a good girl, always made Ajay feel…wanted. She finds herself briefly smiling, cupping her cheek and feeling her heart jump when she leans right into her palm, turning her head to press a kiss to the middle of Ajay’s palm affectionately.
Calloused fingers tuck under her hoodie and when Ajay nods it’s eagerly pulled up and above her chest to reveal her flesh. Anita’s breath catches as she leans over her, scooting a bit down on the bed so she can rest her weight partially on Ajay and let her lips press to her collar, lower to between her two perky little breasts and skimming over until she finds a nipple to latch onto.
Ajay’s hips press up into her, her sigh coming out shakier than intended as she cradles Anita’s head to her chest. A sensitive area, especially when her teeth scrape ever so gently across the sensitive bud. It triggers the need to be vocal near instantly.
And oh, could Ajay talk.
“Hnh- thought aboutcha- about fuckin ya in the showers,” She starts breathlessly, waiting to her the telltale sound of Anita’s breath hitching and her tongue stilling briefly before continuing. “Ya would let me, baby, wouldntcha? Wonder if ya’d- hhhs- be loud enough to let others know that ya were a good girl.”
Anita whines low in her throat, moving down lower, ghosting her lips over Ajay’s abdomen and sinking between her thighs. Her eyes are pitch black as she looks up at her from under her lashes, nosing at where Ajay’s cock peeks out from her panties at the top of the rim and following the shape of it with her tongue.
Ajay lets herself groan low in her throat, eagerly tilting her hips up and letting her girlfriend pull them off her. Due to the E, Ajay had lessened in size and it was a bit harder to get hard. Thankfully in times where you could dirty talk your girlfriend no matter the distance, it made things a little easier to start up. She was about five inches now in length, a good handful of girth around.
But, it wasn’t the size that mattered, it was how Ajay Che was the best fuck around and lived to see her girlfriend curl up and gasp like she was dying when the expert combat medic hit her in just the right spot.
And now? She lived to see Anita nose at her cock, fluttering kisses and whining because she knew not to proceed until Ajay told her to.
Reaching down, Ajay sinks her fingers into Anita’s short curls, pulling her up a bit so she could reach down again to take her cock in hand. She pulls back the foreskin to reveal the shiny head, smearing it across Anita’s lips just to watch her eyes lid and how her lips part just the smallest bit in the hopes she could taste her. Ajay’s lips flicker up into a small smirk, “You’re droolin, baby.”
Anita’s response is to shakily whine, parting her lips a bit more just to show how badly she wanted it. And well, you can’t really expect Ajay to tell her girlfriend no, right?
Gently pulling her forward, Anita eagerly takes the initiative at her command. Wrapping her pretty lips around the head and watching Ajay’s hand that had been holding herself come up to her mouth and form a fist. Her head tosses to the side, loose hot pink hair moving with her as her breath hitches and a soft moan escapes her. Sensitive, even now.
There’s a momentary pause where Ajay doesn’t speak, letting Anita take her time taking her. But then she’s making this sound, patting Anita until she pulls up and starts to ask what’s wrong. But she gets her answer when Ajay whines out, “Take off ya clothes, ya bein’ selfish. Lemme have a taste.” In this bratty tone that both makes Anita’s ears turn pink as well as making her laugh.
“My apologies, your highness.” She teases back, sitting up to begin stripping as told. Always an act that makes her smile as Ajay watches her with the excitement a child might have on Christmas. As Ajay brings her hands up to her cheeks and beams brightly, despite herself being quite flushed and aroused, and despite the fact she’s seen her nude countless times. Countless. Of times.
Doesn’t fail to make Anita feel…adored.
“Your highness, huh?” Ajay replies after a moment, biting her lip as she watches Anita pull her sweatpants down with her boyshorts to reveal the thick patch of hair between her thighs and the glistening wetness that leaves a small string of slick connected before snapping at the distance. Fuck. “Could get used to that.”
“Is ‘princess’ not enough for you?”
A cheeky grin makes its way to Ajay’s face and that’s enough to make Anita laugh and roll her eyes. With the eagerness of Ajay reaching for her, she lets herself be moved until her muscular thighs are resting on either side of Ajay’s head. Anita needs to slightly curl herself in to be able to be more size accommodating for how short Ajay is to reach her cock, but not like she minds.
Hands appreciatively grab Anita’s ass, spreading her apart and making her cheeks burn red when Ajay groans behind her, able to see the way her cock jerks at the very sight of her. “So wet for me, an’ just from touchin’ me? Ya spoil me, baby.” Her tone is appreciative, dripping with lust before her arms hook around her girlfriend’s thighs to jerk her down.
The first, wet, flat lick over the flesh of Anita’s cunt makes her jerk, but Ajay’s arms keep her in place. The lick is followed by a low moan from Ajay, her hips pressing up without thinking as if trying to hump the air. She always loved giving oral, something Anita found out first before anything, and that she was damned good at it. Well, when she wasn’t tracing her fingers agonizingly slow across Anita’s more sensitive areas and telling her what each medical term was.
Anita doesn’t even notice that she’s shaking and hunched over still, her breath ghosting over Ajay’s cock that jerks and drools with pre-cum helplessly as her girlfriend eats her out. The teasing, long stripes eventually settle on her engorged clit. Ajay had always appreciated its size, a little mouthful and bigger than an average size, and oh so sensitive. She’s eager to suckle on it, sealing her full lips over and stroking her tongue along the underside, mindful of the almost painfully sensitive tip.
That’s when Anita cracks, her first low groan before she finally remembers to take Ajay in hand and sink her cock past her lips.
Ajay squirms beneath her, nails pressing to the backs of Anita’s thighs with her whines reverberating through the both of them. Her suckles and licks becomes sloppier, panting over Anita’s opening and nosing at her, almost like trying to rub her slick on her face. The idea is filthy, yet, still makes Anita whine and lift up her hips only to have them possessively yanked back down.
One hand holds the base of Ajay’s shaft, squeezing as Anita focuses her time on the head. Sloppy, open mouthed kisses, to harder sucks to make up for lack of sensitivity. Just barely scraping her teeth or allowing herself to tongue the drooling slit.
It’s Anita that cums first, her thighs locking up and having to pull off to shakily sigh into Ajay’s thigh. She shudders as she cums, never too loud as her voice only shakes and shudders with every greedy lick from beneath her. Ajay holds her tight, whining and raking her nails down her thighs, as if eating her out harder would make herself able to cum.
It’s after a moment of over sensitivity does Ajay finally relent, pushing Anita off her and rolling her onto her back. Anita only whines faintly, bleary eyed and briefly aware of the pressure sinking onto her chest. She lets her eyes flutter open when a hand gently grabs her jaw, a thumb pressing at her lower lip until she opens her mouth and sticks out her tongue obediently.
“Good girl,” Ajay whines, wrapping a hand around her cock and resting the head on Anita’s tongue, stroking herself in quick jerks as her body naturally begins to jerk and squirm atop her. Anita’s rough hands grab at her ass appreciatively, squeezing and letting one hand pull a little too hard to spread her open- and that does Ajay in.
Her cries are music to Anita’s ears. Ajay’s face screws up beautifully, biting her bottom lip as her brows knit together, shakes zipping through her body as her cum paints Anita’s willing mouth and lips. The noise she makes when Anita seals her lips around her to suckle the head is almost pained. A hand is quick to rest atop her head, yanking her curls back, only serving to make Anita grin in success after she swallows, opening her mouth to stick her tongue back out to show it to be clean.
“Ugh-” Ajay whines, almost a scoffing nose and patting her cheek fondly as she rolls off to flop next to her. Her hoodie is the only thing left of clothing between them, yet she still rolls over with it pulled up, pressing her bare body to Anita’s and nosing at her neck affectionately. “Next time ya decide ta be a brat, I’m gonna fuck ya throat on the floor.”
“Is that a promise, princess?”
A pillow is Anita’s answer, met with her muffled laughter underneath.

animaniacs - s1e44: the world can wait
episode summary: brain puts off his plan of taking over the world so he can try to pick up a girl mouse he met and instantly fell in love with for some reason.
there’s no plan in this episode, but it’s funny, so it goes here anyway.
the rundown:
Tumblr media
we open with pinky bothering brain about how they’re going to take over the world tonight. his initial plan is to “trap them in super sticky chewing gum”, which i’m not entirely convinced by, but as we learn later pinky kind of has a knack for this sort of thing, so i’m willing to go with it if they are.
but no! apparently not. pinky’s next suggestion is “how about we wrestle the president?” before suplexing himself. shame this episode was made in the 90s, huh. keep that energy for the 2020 reboot please, pinky.
Tumblr media
zort.
yet another refusal has pinky worried. as he questions “but gee, brain, we are going to take over the world, aren’t we?” brain replies with the unthinkable.
Tumblr media
“not tonight, pinky. the world can wait.”
Tumblr media
“egad, brain. are you feeling alright?”
turns out that brain is putting off his plans for world conquest for more noble, heterosexual persuits - namely, a girl mouse who lives in a cage on the opposite shelf. pinky finds the prospect of brain being into anyone completely fucking hilarious, apparently, and makes fun of him in the background as brain witters on about his new waifu.
Tumblr media
“she is of simple folk, fair and true.” “you mean she’s stupid?” “a bit.” mean. pinky keeps negging brain about it until he gets bonked on the head for his troubles, and then brain puts on a fancy jacket and drags pinky off to be his wingman.
Tumblr media
isn’t he cute?
Tumblr media
but anyway, here comes billie. apparently she lives in this sparse, empty cage by herself, which you’re really not supposed to do with female mice. they need companions otherwise they get lonely and actually you’re not supposed to keep male mice together either.....
.............................................................................................
everyone in this show is trans.
ok that was half a joke. undeterred, brain goes off to harass his Fair Damsel.
Tumblr media
“i, my lady, am the brain,” he says, introducing himself without his fedora, for a change. “we met together in the maze.”
Tumblr media
“oh yeah. i remember you. egghead.” what the fuck is her accent?? new york?? i’m genuinely lost. this is not a voice normal people have.
Tumblr media
pinky thinks this is hilarious, and agrees enthustically that brain is, in fact, Egg Head, so brain bonks him over the head with a baseball bat he found somewhere. undeterred, he moves onto presenting billie with a “precious, simple gift.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“it’s an actual working mockup of the betatron particle accelerator.”
that’s... cute, brain. not entirely sure what she’s going to do with a particle accelerator in her otherwise totally empty cage, but he’s trying! and that’s what matters.
“it kinda looks like a--”
“BIG METAL DONUT.”
Tumblr media
HAHAHEHEHAHAHA.
Tumblr media
“yeah, like a big metal donut. say, egghead? who’s your friend? he’s funny.”
oh dear.
oh dear. this date has been going for like two minutes and already, brain is getting cucked. still, he introduces pinky, out of politeness.
Tumblr media
and then he decides “fuck that” and puts him in the particle accelerator and spins him away.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
which is just kind of mean, honestly.
Tumblr media
“aw, i like him.” “pinky? but he’s barely verbal.”
Tumblr media
“well pardon me, mr egghead, but i happen to like that. goodnight.”
ouch. brain tries to change her mind, and has all of two seconds to do that before pinky bonks him off the shelf.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
if you love me let me go, etc.
Tumblr media
cut to back in the cage, where pinky is bandaging brain’s head. he must have bonked it on his fall, which is very sad. pinky seems otherwise unharmed, and is bullying brain over how the previous three minutes or so of the short went. “i think she likes you!” he chortles, amidst brain’s protests. haha, narf.
Tumblr media
“no, pinky, the fact of the matter is, she likes you.” “but brain, i’ve already got a girlfriend.”
Tumblr media
“pinky. you are a mouse. that is a horse.”
still, unconventional taste in partners aside (and how cute it is that he has a little picture of fignewton by their bed!) brain eventually figures out that in order to win billie’s heart, he should ask pinky what he would say to woo her. this obviously goes about as well as one would expect.
ok i wasn’t going to talk about this but when he gets there billie is like “who’s there? pinky? is that you pinky?” and brain makes this face.
Tumblr media
“no.”
Tumblr media
which i thought was very funny.
billie is less enthused by this particular mouse, until he starts saying some completely nonsensical shit, to which she is instantly on board.
Tumblr media
“please, call me eggy. n. narf.”
Tumblr media
“now, tell her-- poit-- i like your toenails.”
thanks! i got them from the president.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
brain goes above and beyond, also mentioning that her head looks like a “really clean carrot”-- yknow what, i really don’t think these were serious suggestions from pinky. i think he was just being a dick. but it works! billie is swayed.
Tumblr media
“i guess i got you pegged all wrong. why don’t you come up here? i like you.”
Tumblr media
hee hee.
conclusion:
alas, unfortunately, brain never gets the opportunity to get pegged correctly, this time. hoo hoo. at that exact moment a bunch of scientists show up. despite complaining that they’re “going to be late for bowling”, homeboy needs to electrocute a mouse right now, immediately, so he goes ahead and does that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the boys do their best! unfortunately, they don’t quite get there in time to stop this from happening.
Tumblr media
(at this point brain gives off the most unconvincing “oh no, we’re too late” that i have perhaps ever heard, but i don’t blame maurice for that, because i understand it must be hard to make drunk orson welles sound sympathetic. hrrraaarrrgh. french excellence.)
Tumblr media
still, he does seem genuinely concerned. “billie, are you alright?”
“eggy?” she asks, on the verge of death. “is that you, eggy?” brain confirms that he is, in fact, Eggy, and she goes in for a hug.
Tumblr media
“oh, eggy. i thought the electro-polarity had altered the reticular formation in my medulla oblongata.”
Tumblr media
oh no.
Tumblr media
“egad, brain,” says pinky, who is bad at helping. “she’s probably even smarter than you.”
Tumblr media
oh no indeed.
so.... yeah. turns out she is. she even makes a habit of correcting brain’s formula. as brain has a small breakdown over the fact that he’s been obsessing over that for the past five months... um. actually, that’s like... ~17 years to a mouse, give or take. how old are these guys??? what did acme do to them?
brain makes this face.
Tumblr media
and then leaves.
Tumblr media
“but brain! oh, so you don’t love her any more just because she’s smarter than you?” you can’t really see it in this screencap, but pinky does look genuinely concerned. good on him for calling out this fuckboy behaviour! absolutely appalling. you’re definitely not getting pegged with that attitude, brain. work on yourself.
Tumblr media
“oh, i do love her, pinky. i do. but i must quickly go develop a plan so that we can take over the world.”
Tumblr media
“why.”
Tumblr media
“because if i don’t, she may beat us to it.”
so, theoretically, the tally stays the same. nothing happened in this episode. there was no plan. it was just brain being straight for seven minutes or so.
brain: 3 pinky: 3 outside influence: 5
but billie also gets a fair few points for not pegging brain while she had the chance, so there’s that.
billie: however many points that is
this has been another
Tumblr media
useless review.

How a date at the amusement park with the gang would be?
The Gang on an Amusement Park Date:
Sal:
- Oh boy he’s happy. As soon as you suggested going to the amusement park he basically jumped into the car. As you two drove to the park, Sal was literally vibrating in his seat with excitement. Even though you can’t see his face, you knew he had a huge smile across it.
- Sal isn’t a really big fan of big fast rides like roller coasters out of fear that his mask will fall off, but if you want to go on a few big, fast rides he won’t care. He’ll happily wait for you at the exit of the ride. But needless to say, more tame rides are his thing. He’ll be over the moon if you decide to go on the farris wheel or the merry-go-round or those tall swing things.
- Even though Sal does really like the food at the park, Sal will probably pack a picnic, because aesthetic. He probably cooked all your favorite foods and snacks. Of course, he probably asked Larry to help cook these things and with his help, almost set the basement on fire. Lisa probably had to step in and help.
- Sal will probably kiss you at the top of the Ferris wheel, though cheesy. It’s just something about being hundreds of feet above the world with someone you love that just makes you feel all tingly inside.
- SAL IS A TOTAL GIFT SHOP JUNKIE! He super amazed by literally every little trinket in the gift shop: t-shirts, sunglasses, those little license plates with your name on it, Sal is like super DUPER obsessed with gift shops.
“(Y/N), it’s a koala wearing a shirt with the name of the park on it!”
“Sal, Honey, it’s just a stuffed ani-“
“I’ll take seven.”
Larry:
- Oh boy get ready. Larry has to go on EVERY. SINGLE. RIDE. in the park. By the end of the day you will be exhausted and wondering if you’re on a date or babysitting a three year old. He literally runs from ride to ride and basically grabs your hand and drags you along. And by every single ride, I mean every single ride. You get side eyes from some parents when he forces you to go on those tiny boats that are meant for six year olds though.
- Even though Larry loves every single ride, his favorite rides are roller coasters because they’re fast and loud. He’ll practically beg you to go on a roller coaster with him. He understands if you say “no” and decide to wait for him to get off, but if you decided to go with him, oh boy. If you’re nervous he’ll hold your hand during the ride, but if you’re a thrill seeker like him, he’ll scream along with you.
- You know how sometime amusement parks have those places where you can get airbrush tattoos? Well he BEGS you to get matching ones with him. He’ll even let you chose the design and the color, not that that matters to him too much anyway because he gets to match with you. As soon as he gets home he basically busts down Sal’s door to show him the tattoo.
- He probably keeps a keep-sake from the whole experience. Usually a ticket stub or maybe a wrapper from one of those super long hot dogs or a trinket from the gift shop, but as long as he has something to remember this day by, he’ll be happy. As cheesy as it sounds, Larry keeps keepsakes from your best dates to remember the good times when he’s having a bad day.
- He’ll try to win you a stuffed animal at a carnival game, may I put emphasis on “try”. Truth is Larry is TERRIABLE at carnival games. He’ll spend hours just trying to win you some cheap stuffed bear. You may tell him “it’s okay” and “you don’t really need another stuffed animal” but this is more than him trying to do something cutesy for you, this is about dignity.
“Larry, Babe, you’ve been trying to win that stuffed elephant for the past three hours. Honey it isn’t worth it.”
“Babe, I’m GETTING you that elephant it it doesn’t matter HOW long it takes.”
“Larbear, it’s just a stuffed animal-“
“(Y/N) I will literally cut off my toes to win this for you.”
Ashley:
- I’m sorry did I hear the most aesthetic-ey date ever that Ash is definitely gonna brag about to the guys on Monday? Because that’s exactly what this is, the most aesthetic-ey date ever that’s totally gonna make the guys ENVY your relationship forever. She not only does she LOVE amusement parks, but she LOVES being with you and this is just the greatest thing ever.
- She takes a ton of pictures of you. She brings her camera and takes super cute pictures of you guys doing things. Seriously, she acts like a middle aged suburban white mom taking photos for Facebook. All the pictures are cute and she may even buy one a picture frame from the gift shop to keep her favorite in.
- If the amusement park is has characters that walk around it she’ll insist on getting a picture with EVERY SINGLE ONE. It doesn’t matter how long the line is or how dark it’s getting, she’s getting that damn picture of you and that man in a giant dog costume! She literally will make a check list of evey character in the park and will cross them off one by one after she gets a picture with them.
- Have I mentioned that go karts are Ash’s forte? Like not even kidding, this girl knows how to work a damn go kart. If it’s one of those go karts that seats two you already know whose driving. This girl makes all the other riders eat her dust. Part of the reason she goes so fast is to impress you but the other reason is because it really fun!
- If the park has an artist that will draw your picture, you know Ash is gonna beg you to get your pictures drawn. You know that Ash could probably do better than any artist out there but who cares? Ash is ecstatic to get the drawing and almost hugs the artist out of joy when she sees it. She’s definitely gonna frame it and hang it in her room.
“Hey it looks really good!”
“I love it so much! I’m gonna hang it on my walls and I’m gonna be buried with it when I die!”
Todd:
- Todd is not a really big fan of amusement parks to say the least. They’re noisy, messy, dirty, and full of vomit and crying babies. But when you got that look in your eyes after you suggested going to an amusement park, he just couldn’t say no.
- At first Todd refuses to go on any rides that could even be considered “mildly fast”, saying that he’ll only stick to the merry-go-round and tea cups, but after you basically drag him onto the tilt-a-whirl, he starts to enjoy it a little bit. He may even expand his horizons and try the scrambler or the drop rides. But no roller coasters, he’s super clear about that.
- Speaking of rides, although it isn’t really a ride, Todd loves funhouses. Even though he finds them a little bit unsettling, he still really enjoys them. There’s just something super entertaining about getting lost in a mirror maze or looking at yourself in a funhouse mirror. He’ll grab your hand and force you to go through the funhouse like 18 times.
- He probably wins a goldfish at that pin ball game. He’s super proud when he shows you the clear bag with the little fish swimming inside of it. That’s basically the highlight of the night for him and he jokingly refers to the fish as “our child”. He even lets you name it.
- Todd LOVES fair food. Anything deep fried, chocolate covered, and put on a stick is his favorite. Although he’ll pretend like he doesn’t really like it you know he’s lying. He’ll complain about “trans fats” and what not while happily munching away on a 12-inch corn dog.
“All I’m saying is all this food is super unhealthy! Seriously, I’m gaining weight just thinking about it!”
“Todd you are literally eating a funnel cake right now.”

EAH: Darling Charming
I haven’t done a doll review in a hot minute - let’s change that.
I’d wanted Darling Charming ever since I first saw the original promo photos. I mean, a fashion doll in armour; what’s not to love? Her backstory made me love her even more. The fact that she is destined to be a Damsel in Distress and has decided screw that, she’s going to be a knight - well, that appeals to this girl who was raised with The Paper Bag Princess and other such self-rescuing princesses.
Tumblr media
And then I got my Darling! Isn’t she fab? Let’s take a look.
Before we continue, I’m just going to say that the cafe these photos were taken in has closed down now - RIP the Saker Cafe. But that’s how long Darling has been waiting to be shown to you lovely people, and she isn’t the only one either. Moving on.
As you can see, Darling is very lovely, with a very silver and pastel colour scheme - it almost puts me in mind of the trans flag, which is beginning to give me ideas... anyway. Let’s have a look at her accessories first, then her dress, then we can look at the girl herself.
Tumblr media
Here’s her tiara, it goes without saying it was rubber-banded into her hair and it also goes without saying that I think the details need a lick of paint. But it’s nice it’s not all one colour. Darling’s primary motif is plate armour, yes, but hearts, plumes and gemstones also feature heavily - in some ways she’s one of the most princessy of the lot.
Tumblr media
Her bag, which is different in the front...
Tumblr media
And back. Plenty of filigree detail and a gem clasp, and yet it is apparently meant to be made of metal. Imagine getting belted round the head with this thing...
Tumblr media
Her breastplate - actually what this is supposed to be is two parts of the plate armour, the gorget for the neck and the pauldrons for the shoulders, the necklace is just for decoration. But it’s all one piece here so I’m calling it a breastplate even though I’m wrong. Her breastplate fastens across the chest with the necklace and you can’t even see how once it’s closed, it looks great.
Tumblr media
This is the back. As you see, more of the filigree that there was on the bag. Probably Darling gets her handbag from her armourer. I like how it looks consistently like medieval armour and like it could actually fit together realistically with buckles and all - even though we know it doesn’t.
Tumblr media
Her belt is just that, a belt, and the cutouts at the side don’t appear to make a lot of sense, except that if you look at the picture at the top, you see that her stand is the same colour and fits exactly into the holes. Neat, huh? Less neat is the fact that she can’t really sit down with this on, but you can’t win ‘em all.
Tumblr media
Now these I wish were painted, look at this detail. Also, if Darling is wearing metal high heels everywhere I bet she has calves like iron as well. Anyway, these are so pretty! But they’d be prettier in white and gold with pink frills and blue gems.
Tumblr media
Now all that’s gone, we can see her dress. Note that the silver bodice and underskirt and blue metallic bolero have a very chain-mailley look and definitely contributes to the armour feel, but the pink and blue net overskirts and lace cuffs remind us all that this is still a princess we’re dealing with. This dress is all in one piece, although it looks like the bolero is seperate, but I don’t mind that. I can make Darling a plain silver shift dress if I want to, and probably will.
Tumblr media
Before we move on, I do have to say that with all the accessories, our girl is sadly restricted and this armour would be very dangerous should she try to slay dragons in it, because she can only raise her arm this high while wearing her pauldrons. But note how well the stand fits into her belt. I did like that.
Tumblr media
She doesn’t really need said stand, though. Like most EAH and MH dolls, she stands pretty well unaided.
Tumblr media
As you see she has long blonde and blue hair just like Lagoona’s, but somehow I don’t think she swims as much as our lovely creature from the Black Lagoon. Given the wide variety of hair colours at Ever After High, she has an excuse.I think it’s supposed to be in fat ringlets, but honestly it fluffs out a bit much for that. I guess I could give it another go and try to tame it again but this kind of hair doesn’t have that good a record.
Tumblr media
She has an even rounder case of the EAH moon face than Apple does, but now I’m used to it, I kind of like it. She’s very Versailles with that beauty mark and the pastel colour scheme, and the almost white hair. She doesn’t actually have white hair or skin but the blue highlights emphasise her pallor, and she is the White Knight now, after all.
I like the expression, I like how serene she looks, and the determined tilt to her brows. It’s OK, the White Knight has got this. I like it a lot better than the reboot Darling faces, which are alarmingly Stepford to me and look like they’re going to try and sell me some essential oils. But we’re getting off track. Note how the eye make-up is deceptively elaborate - pale blue underneath as well as on the lid, and a dark blue line across the crease, then a lovely lilac above that. She also has very thick lashes.
Tumblr media
I don’t have either doll in my hand right now, but I think Darling has a slightly more pronounced profile than Apple - that could also be a forced perspective, though. Hmm, I think I will post Apple’s profile so we can compare. But it seems Apple has a very flat face by comparison, Darling’s features are way more definite, with a wider mouth, a more pointed nose and more of a gap between her eyes. The original Darling Charming was definitely her.
Tumblr media
See? Very different.
And that’s Darling! I’m sorry it took so long to review her. I’m glad to see there are still people reading this blog. Incidentally I had a seizure on New Year’s Day so if there are typos and missed facts, that’s because my brain decided to flip the table with all my thoughts on it while I was still recovering from Christmas and it’ll be a while before I can collect and arrange my headspace again. Thanks for your patience!

The Guardian needs to pick a side, and so do the women that transphobes are trying to rally.
You can silently allow these purported ‘feminists’ to speak for you, as they vilify trans people, or stand with your trans siblings to do the real work of bringing down the patriarchy and all the gendered violence that comes with it.
Content warning: transphobia, sexual and domestic violence, TERFs, homophobia & biphobia, racism, far right & mention of Nazis
On 2nd March the Guardian published an article called ‘Women must have the right to organise. We will not be silenced’, by self-identifying Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminist (TERF), Suzanne Moore. The article, however badly written and absurd, has a platform. And with a distinct lack of meaningful trans representation or awareness in the media at large, it’s likely that some people will be lured into believing that Moore has credible points to make. The Guardian has rubber stamped this hateful rhetoric and rallying cry for transphobia, and it’s not the first time.
So it’s time for the Guardian, as well as the cisgender, white middle class women amongst it’s readership, who are clearly being summoned to fight in an imaginary war, to pick a side. And those ‘sides’ are not trans rights vs. cisgender women’s rights. Because trans rights do not infringe cisgender women’s rights. You have to pick two sides of history: you can silently allow these purported ‘feminists’ to speak for you, as they vilify trans people and claim that misogyny and sexism is only experienced by those with the ‘ability to reproduce’ (which, by the way, doesn’t cover all cisgender women) or stand with your trans siblings to do the real work of bringing down the patriarchy and all the gendered violence that comes with it.
What follows is an attempt to unpick the slew of shit arguments that Moore strung together in her Guardian article for the purposes of exposing her thinly veiled hate speech, and equipping allies with the arguments to shut down transphobia in their day to day lives.
1. Moore uses the tactics of the far right, by suggesting that trans people and those fighting for trans rights are a threat to free speech.
Tumblr media
Far right poster boys in the UK, like Tommy Robinson AKA Stephen Christopher Yaxley-Lennon (LOL), have been rallying supporters by claiming that free speech is under threat. He likes to weaponise this argument against Muslim communities and people of colour for the most part, but won’t say no to a touch of sexism, misogyny and transphobia. It’s become a familiar trope, the idea of a snowflake generation, so sensitive to harm that they won’t even expose themselves to a touch of hate speech.
TERFs are not above allying with the likes of the far right to stoke fear and anger in those who’ve felt the burn of sexism, misogyny, homophobia biphobia and who feel a bit baffled by University discourse around safe spaces and no platforming. They conveniently point the finger at trans people, mostly trans women, and say ‘they are the problem, you can’t say anything anymore, they are silencing us!’
In fact, in the States, TERFs have been proven to have organised links with far right Christian groups, and many of the UK groups who (according to Moore, are definitely not hate groups) are funded by the same organisations. So when Moore says ‘Now, I feel a huge sadness when I look at the fragmentation of the landscape, where endless fighting, cancellations and no platformings have obscured our understanding of who the real enemies are,’ I can’t stifle my maniacal laughter.
How brainwashed do you have to be to think that trans people and their allies are the enemy, when you will cooperate with far right racists? Sure, there might be a debate to be had about the effectiveness of tactics like no platforming, but when trans rights are conflated with the concept of free speech denial, the TERFs are knowingly playing into the hands of the far right.
2. She harks back to Section 28 protests as the good ol’ days, when LGBT people knew what to fight for and our collective oppression trumped our differences. The irony is lost on her.
Tumblr media
In 2019 we saw a momentous win in the 30 year battle for LGBT inclusion in schools, with the introduction of inclusive relationships and sex education. That wouldn’t have been possible without solidarity across the LGBT movement.
But TERFs have taken this victory as an opportunity to make the exact same arguments about teaching on gender identity as were made by Section 28. The idea that any mention of LGBT people was ‘the promotion of homosexuality’ (a line taken directly from the clause) is echoed in their claims that children and young people are being brainwashed and tricked into being trans. They even organised to try and prevent funds reaching Mermaids, a charity for trans children and young people last year, by mobilising misinformed and hateful women on Mumsnet via the lightning rod of Graham Linehan - who, by the way, compares people fighting for trans rights to those active in Nazi Germany.
We know that almost half of young trans people have attempted suicide. And scumbags like Moore have the audacity to claim they are being silenced? All whilst being published in the likes of the Guardian.
3. TERFs want you to believe that they are voiceless and marginalized. But the fact is, they get a seat at the table, to make decisions about other people’s lives. How feminist of them.
Tumblr media
TERFs want you to believe that they are at the vanguard of feminism, being punished for speaking out like the great feminists before us. But as we’ve established, they are supported by well-resourced dark forces, given public platforms, and unfortunately our government is bending to their will in the name of ‘balance.’
During a consultation on gender recognition in the UK last year, Government Equalities Office officials had meetings with activists from Transgender Trend, Fair Play for Women and A Woman’s Place UK. All these groups are transphobic hate groups; one has wished cancer on trans people on their public social media accounts, and that’s not the worst of it. Now the Guardian has shown its true colors, platforming the voices of established TERFS. Does that seem like silencing to you?
In the meantime, trans people get next to no meaningful representation, we see vitriolic trash in the media every day and transphobic hate crime has rocketed.
4. Concepts of sex and gender as binary are weaponised to invalidate trans people. And it harms cisgender women too.
Tumblr media
Moore believes that the most radical insight of feminism is that gender is binary but you are allowed to play with femininity and masculinity. Wow, she has missed the point. You don’t have to be a feminist scholar to know that feminism has helped us understand, unpick and fight back against, a patriarchal system of oppression, of which ideas around femininity and masculinity are symptoms. If the goal of your feminism stops at the destruction of stereotypes, you’re probably pretty privileged - because whilst it’s no doubt, essential to women’s liberation, it will not end gendered violence and oppression.
Gender and sex are both a spectrum - trans, non-binary and gender non-conforming people have always existed. This is not, as TERFs would have you believe, a recent fad or phase. The conflation of gender and sex, and the aggressive enforcement of the binary from the very moment of conception is a fundamental pillar of patriarchy. And you are punished, socially and politically if you are considered to deviate from these norms. Moore tokenistically mentions intersex people but fails to acknowledge that right now in the UK, intersex babies are having non-consensual operations at birth so that they will conform more neatly to binary concepts of sex.
It’s in TERF’s interest to protect the binary because they want, more than anything, for cisgender women to believe their rights are threatened by trans people and that trans rights and cis women’s rights are incompatible. TERFs will have you believe that you should be more concerned with someone’s genitals than their humanity. They seem less concerned by internal sex organs, hormones and all the other facets that make up the narrow binaries of sex; but that would complicate their nice, neat excuse for transmisogyny.
5. TERF’s priority is not the prevention of rape or domestic abuse. It is the vilification of trans people, who are disproportionately affected by sexual and domestic violence.
Tumblr media
TERFs seem to get endless inspiration from the oppressors of LGBT people; Moore’s article is littered with a transphobic trope, that paints trans people as predatory. It’s nothing new, that’s exactly what they said about lesbians, gay and bi people during the Section 28 era that Moore seems so nostalgic for. And if there’s one stand out reason you should visibly and proudly reject the rhetoric of TERFs and stand side by side with your trans siblings, it’s this: TERFs promote violence against trans people when they paint trans people as predatory. They are a hate group, they promote violence against trans people.
Tarana Burke, the founder of the #MeToo movement (pictured above) said ‘I founded the 'me too' movement in 2006 because I wanted to find a way to connect with the black and brown girls in the program I ran.’ Burke is still fighting to center the voices of marginalised survivors as the movement has blown up and focused on cis, white celebrities. In a 2017 article she said, ‘there’s no conversation in this whole thing [#MeToo] about transgender folks and sexual violence. There’s no conversation in this about people with disabilities and sexual violence. We need to talk about Native Americans, who have the highest rate of sexual violence in this country. So no, I can’t take my focus on marginalized people.’
It shouldn’t need spelling out, but we know that:
Two in five trans people (41 per cent) and three in ten non-binary people (31 per cent) have experienced a hate crime or incident because of their gender identity in the last 12 months. (Stonewall, LGBT in Britain -Trans Report)
The 2015 U.S. Transgender Survey found that 47% of transgender people are sexually assaulted at some point in their lifetime.
More than a quarter of trans people (28 per cent) in a relationship in the last year have faced domestic abuse from a partner. (Stonewall, LGBT in Britain -Trans Report)
Seven per cent of trans people said they have been refused care because they are LGBT, while trying to access healthcare services in the last year. (Stonewall, LGBT in Britain -Trans Report)
Cisgender women must be visible and active trans allies and stand side by side with their trans siblings if we’re going to win. So that instead of wasting our energy having to defend ourselves and fight for the very fact of trans people’s existence, we can get on with protecting and winning rights.
So, cisgender women of Guardian readership and beyond, pick a side. These vile transphobes will exploit their exposure to feed hatred and violence against trans women the whole trans community. Your voice is important, and necessary, to reject their rhetoric, and build a feminist movement of meaningful solidarity. We have so much more to fight for.

I Am the Queen
Tumblr media
Ginger Valdez
Tumblr media
Ginger Valdez is the organizer of the PaseoBoricua Pageant of 2010 in a primarily Puerto Rican neighborhood in Chicago, Illinois. Similar to Adela Vásquez, Valdez is the connecting figure between all of the trans and queer folks in the documentary. Through her involvement in the pageant and her close interaction with the competitors, Valdez facilitates positive connections and awareness within the trans community in Humboldt Park. Valdez is a mentor for the trans and queer folks that she meets, describing her goal to organize a well-executed, respectable event for the girls.  Valdez shares her experiences as a trans woman and pageant competitor, bringing humorous and encouraging energy to the room (as pictured above). Overall, Valdez is a motherly figure, creating a familial atmosphere among the girls and asking the competitors not to disrespect one another.
Fear of Rejection
Tumblr media
Throughout ¡Cuéntamelo!, the LGBTQ+ folks shared fears of ostracization from their families. “I Am the Queen” illustrates multiple representations of family dynamics that both confirm and contradict this theme. On one hand, Ginger Valdez describes her mother being unable to understand her trans identity at the age of fourteen. Valdez points out that her father was willing to accept her as she was and finds that her situation is atypical of typical gendered parental reactions. In Julissa’s case, Lisa, her mother, initially struggled to accept her daughter’s queer identity but learned to welcome Julissa as her daughter. While this is not the case for many trans folks, I appreciated that this hopeful mother-daughter relationship was represented in the film.
Community as Survival
Tumblr media
The documentary ends with recordings of the pageant and subsequent parade, and there are many instances of community in this final portion of the film. Bianca was robbed and unprepared to perform at the pageant, but Ginger and Jolizza helped to make sure she was dressed to compete. While Jolizza’s mother and sister still made transphobic comments, the two did show up for the pageant. Not to mention, Julissa’s entire family was there for the pageant and celebrated her win. There is an emotional moment when Julissa’s little sister cries over her win and says, “She’s so beautiful.” Altogether, I think these scenes demonstrated the networks of support that are necessary for survival in the trans community of color. As we read in ¡Cuéntamelo!, it is important that QTPOC find spaces and people (such as the PaseoBoricua Pageant) that allow them to be themselves.
