On Chuuya’s Gravity Manipulation

So I’ve been thinking about For The Tainted Sorrow instead of studying for my physics exam bc thinking abt gravity is just so much more fun than doing math abt gravity but hear me out.

Since this is obviously a fictional show about dead authors who have nothing to do with gravitational physics, this is all unnecessary; he can kick ass bc he’s cool and we can leave it at that. BUT I'm going to dissect Chuuya’s ability and see what he does to actually manipulate gravity.

Let’s take a look at For The Tainted Sorrow through classical physics first with Newton’s Law of Gravitation. This is the theory I'm most familiar with, although I would like to someday do an analysis through the lens of General Relativity.

Basically, the gravitational force that anything can exert on something else is proportional to its mass and varies inversely with the square of the distance, and it is always attractive (towards the force center) Now, Chuuya's ability is to manipulate gravity, so he can change what this force is.

We aren’t given much on the principles of how he changes it so let's say that the general relation remains the same.

Assuming that the general form of the force does not change, he can manipulate the force in different ways

He can change the mass of his own body or the target to increase force.

He can change the distance from his body to the target

He can change the relation from an inverse square law to something else

He can change the value of G (the gravitational constant)

Now,

Mass is a fundamental quantity (for our level of analysis) so I don't think it's practical that Chuuya can manipulate mass

We know that Chuuya's ability has a range and activates on touch so he does not have any control over the distance r

Changing the power of r does not seem to have as strong effects as Chuuya's gravity manipulation shows. Take a look at these graphs

We can immediately rule out Graph 3 because we know Chuuya has a range. Graphs 2 and 4 are similar enough to Graph 1 that I think there is not enough cause to take them instead of the standard inverse square law. I will have to do some calculations to understand how gravity would work in these wacky potentials, so that'll be a different post, I guess.

One problem I have with this theory is that Chuuya may appear to have a ranged ability, but as far as I know, it activates on touch (correct me if I'm wrong) so manipulating fields of gravitational potential does not seem to be his modus operandi.

He can change the value of G (the gravitational constant)

Now, this is my pet theory because it explains how Chuuya's ability affects only the objects he chooses to use his ability on instead of a general gravitational field around him.

The gravitational constant is really small in our universe and is restricted to a very narrow range. Any deviation from this will cause a lot of problems for the universe as we know it. But, since Chuuya only affects the gravity of things he touches, I don't think his ability will have any lasting effects. This manipulation of G can directly explain how he dramatically changes the magnitude of the momentum of any object he interacts with.

To see the power of this, let's take our friend g, the acceleration due to gravity.

g here is acceleration, so we can see that changing G even a little can dramatically change how fast things move. Chuuya's ability is best described by flashy movements and incredible speed which can be explained by the change in acceleration of the objects he touches and him using his ability on himself.

One more important thing about Chuuya's ability is that it can affect the direction that gravity is working. The minus sign in front of the force equation at the beginning of this post indicates that gravity is an attractive force i.e. it always works towards the bodies and pulls them together. Except we see Chuuya use gravity as much more than just an attractive force.

He reverses the direction of momentum of bullets in the GSS fight scene in the Fifteen arc.

He regularly walks on walls and ceilings.

He accelerates bullets away from him with his ability in his encounter with the Hunting Dogs.

It would be easy if this was the only thing he could do, as we can amend our argument to include that he can change the sign of G as well to accommodate for this repulsive action.

However, the problem is that his ability does not work only linearly. He can change the trajectories of bullets mid-flight and has a borderline telekinetic level of control of his ability. This cannot be explained with sign changes alone, and there must be something funny going on with the direction vector of the force. I don't think this can be explained with Newtonian Mechanics alone so I am going to shelf this here until I can come up with a different formulation for it.

Of course, none of this applies to Corruption. I think that has to be done exclusively through GenRel so that's a little later on the schedule.

A Semi Defense of the Hellcheer Crumbs Present in Flight of Icarus from Someone Who Doesn’t Subscribe to Any One Hellcheer Head Canon in Particular (also the same someone who hasn’t finished the whole book yet, but I think I got all the hellcheer parts 😅)

YALL MADE ME BUY THIS BOOK OUT OF SHEER CURIOSITY!

🚨spoilers, duh🚨

Disclaimer: By all means, if you genuinely don’t like the characterization and call backs, that’s completely your prerogative and preference, I simply would like to present an interpretation that some might find interesting or make them hate the book interpretation a little less.

Quick question: Didn’t we basically all decide that Eddie is kind of a dick in the way that he prejudges people and is guilty of assuming people are one dimensional too (like how the jocks do)? So for him to have one minute of exchanged pleasantries with Chrissy four years prior to FOI and then returning to a state of assuming she’s just like the rest of the jocks and labeling her as “uninteresting” in FOI is actually in character for him…??

Though Eddie only recalls their first meeting at the middle school talent show in s4, we learn in FOI that they had one other close encounter in their high school years. The time when freshman Gareth was being bullied by some basketball heads, including a JV Jason Carver, whose girlfriend, Chrissy, is there trying to get them all to leave Gareth alone. It’s in the middle of this encounter, where Chrissy takes the initiative to forcibly remove Tommy H ’s hand from Gareth’s shirt collar that keeps him pinned to some lockers, that Eddie remembers the girl he met on the catwalk before their respective turns in the middle school talent show. The two asked about each other’s parent attendance: Eddie’s lack of and Chrissy’s desire that she had a lack. They agree to cheer for each other if no one else will and later when Eddie seems to witness her mother berating Chrissy’s performance, they exchange quick smiles, before Chrissy’s mother drags her away.

Despite, the pleasantness of this encounter, in present time (FOI), Eddie still has a less than stellar opinion of Chrissy. As he says it “There’s another Chrissy Cunningham. I just hadn’t thought she survived the jump to high school . . . I’d thought the last four years had stamped out any trace of the unsettled, imperfect, approachable Chrissy Cunningham.” Essentially saying, without getting to know her at all and despite the one interaction I did have with her actually being quite pleasant, I doubt that’s really her now. Okay no-labels-Munson 🤨

This narrative or characterization can be tied into s4 when Eddie tells Chrissy he thought she “would be mean and scary”, despite the two previous interactions we now know them to have had. One pleasant and one semi pleasant, which from both encounters, Eddie gets the feeling that maybe Chrissy isnt as flat as he would’ve thought her to be, yet he’s shown to still default to thinking she would be a stone cold diva in every future encounter they have, mostly based off the fact that she’s with the jocks. Judgy much, Eddie??

So how do we jump from FOI Eddie who thinks Chrissy is “just some cutout of a cheerleader” to s4 Eddie, who remembers their interaction in middle school and has an eye for cheerleaders??

I mean… this interaction here is him remembering and placing her as the girl from the talent show, so instead of him remembering in s4, their one interaction from 6 years ago, we now know him to have remembered it here in FOI, 2 years before they meet again in the forest and maybe this remembering and her attempts to stand up for him and Gareth, (Chrissy’s literally an angel 😇♥️) leaves an impression that makes him notice her more over those next 2 years, which would tie into his love of cheerleaders in s4… plus, I think we all know, you can be attracted to people you don’t really like, especially if it’s just physical and you don’t actually know them 💁🏻‍♀️

Regardless, if you truly think this is out of character, that’s cool, but maybe it helps to also keep in mind that there’s still 2 years until we meet him in s4. That’s at least 730 days worth of experiences where he could’ve molded into the person you interpreted him to be 🤷🏻‍♀️

TL;DR: In s4 Eddie prejudged Chrissy to be “mean and scary” even tho they’ve had semi good interactions before. In FOI, we see he’s done the same thing before when he describes Chrissy as “an uninteresting’…’cutout of a cheerleader” even though they had met at the middle school talent show and had a good connection: Eddie’s a judgy asshole 🙃

• Your naivety is what caused Kiryu to be close and overprotective to you in the first place.

• Kiryu REALLY REALLY loves it when you spend time with the orphanage kids especially when you're with Haruka. He will subconsciously smile whenever he sees you act like a parental figure to them, someone has to point it at his smiling or else his cheeks will start hurting. But this also makes his overprotectiveness increase more.

• Kiryu absolutely admires your patience around the kids he learns it is difficult to take care of children, so you around him helping make him feel like you're both together even if he knows that you're just helping him out and it's weird for someone to think like this.

• Kiryu in every scenario is very hesitant for anyone to see you with him, his paranoia gets stronger every second you're not with him, what happens if some yakuza or anyone attacks you at this moment? • So most of the time he's just behind you literally scaring anyone who breathe a single atom in your direction. So in the crowd a random person might as well randomly see a sweet looking person who's smile and even compete with the most sunniest day and behind them is guy who's already glaring at the person.

• If you ever know how to cook and bake he would be now "falling much more". (harder again how is that possible)

• He would eat everything you cook he believes that there is no food that you ever made that is even slightly bad and oh boy don't even start whenever you bake sweets for everyone he just feels this warm feeling in his heart whenever you do and don't tell anyone but he is OBSESSED whenever you were a frilly apron but he will keep on that secret till in his grave.

• Kiryu will try to make you feel less shy so you can open up to him because he doesn't like it when you keep things to yourself.

• If there was a scenario when a random dude starting flirting and you're clearly uncomfortable but too shy to speak up to yourself, Kiryu's overprotectiveness just he would try to intimidating them to make the buzz off but if they won't take the hint he might as well use much more physical means, of course if he was ever going to use that choice he will make sure you're far away from the scene and won't see how brutal it can be.

• There's a very high chance of Kiryu kidnapping you, he keeps on saying that this is for your own good but deep inside Kiryu knows that he kidnapped you for his selfish gains.

He’d take you to an art museum <3

It’s been said before and imma say it again — man is a big softie and has a great appreciation for art that he’d love to share with you

As you guys look around at the various paining, he explains the backstory behind almost all of them to you, it is obvious he is very passionate about this

He doesnt talk to others about his interests much so when he’s doing this, he’s really telling you he trusts you

He’d slowly grab your hand while you guys are walking around the museum, trying to play it cool but knowing damn well he a mess

Afterwards you guys would go get something to eat and perhaps talk more about how you felt about the art

Sugawara

koushi would take you ice skating

If you don’t know how to skate, he’d obviously teach you and would try to keep you from falling as much as possible, so youre gonna end up on his arms instead a couple times.

Him grabbing your both hands and dragging you around the skating rink, pulling you close and spinning you around while smiling at you

He himself is not a great ice-skater either so you might witness him fall on his bum a couple times while he tries to show off

Will skate towards you quite quickly, making you slightly scared before stopping and kissing you then poking your nose, “bop!”

Daichi

Classic cinema date

Probably takes you to see a horror movie

His original plan was that you would get scared and he’d get to act like some big romantic hero or something, but just just ends up ranting about how the main character is stupid

Slowly geabs your hand, holding it tightly whenever you flinch

He’d be the one paying for the snacks obv <3

Afterwards he’d walk you home, stopping at your doorstep, telling you how much he enjoyed the night before kissing you. Just like in movies.

Kageyama

Tobio isnt really the romantic type so he was quite confused when it came to picking out a date so he ended up asking the team for help

in the end they decided to have him cook dinner for you for a romantic dinner at his house

By “have him cook” i mean have them all cook dinner because not one man in the karasuno team knows how to properly cook

Noya, Hinata and Tanaka asked him to stay and spy on the date, he obviously kicked them out of the house

The dinner ended up being pretty nice, you were actually suprised to see tobio was going for something more romantic

He was a little bit awkward during it but thats alright <3

Hinata

He would take you to an amusement park and it would be the most chaotic time ever

Shoyo would try to show off and win you some prizes (probably failing the first couple times) After winning the prizes, he’d hold them like a trophy and give them to you

Would challenge you to see who’s better at the games

Maybe he shouldn’t have had that much cotton candy

Would make you go in one of those scary big roller coasters with him and you’d both get out happy to be able to live another day

Tsukishima

Since he couldn’t be bothered to actually take you out somewhere he just invited you over to his house

He made sure he’d be home alone so that no one else would bother you two

He didn’t even plan on watching a movie or anything similar, he just make you two some sandwiches and yall spent your time playing video games

He might’ve muttered that he loves you a couple times

yall kissed a little perhaps

Maybe even cuddle a little who knows

Yamaguchi

He wouldn’t take you out he’d invite you to his house!

Tadashi would order pizza and get snacks and blankets and get everything ready and perfect for your movie night with him! He’d get all stressed hoping that everything will go well

Y’all would watch comfort movies and cuddle

At first he’s kinda shy when it comes to cuddling but afterwards you’d be suprised at how much physical affection he wants to give and receive,, perhaps he’ll offer some kisses too

You two fall asleep on each other by the end of the movie

Okay so uhhh heres my AU. I’m going to just copy and past for the most part what was posted on Amino. Keep in mind I wrote this all down last night while pulling an all nighter so lets go babe!! I super duper hope you think its a neat idea and I will post more on it later. tumblr wont let me upload any more images and im very mad right now!!!!! so dig through my blog for more. I have plenty and I will post more.

Anyways, lets start with Majora. The main big baddie of the actual game. My version of Majora is actually not technically a bad guy. Not even a guy at all. She is 20 ft tall, has a skull for a face, long whips that can slink out of her wrists, and 3 separate forms. Wrath being the final.

Her canon design is a tad eyesore so I decided to fix it up. Shes the one thing I am actually proud of in this whole AU thats why I started with her. The third eye on her head, and the eyes on her chest can move but rarely do. Theres no need.She’s extremely monster like and doesn’t necessarily think like you and I.Shes very powerful and all of that power is sealed away in the mask.Most of the events of Majoras mask still remain true to this AU, I simply add backstory and some characters.

I cant explain much of Majora until later when things get extra spicy but trust me she has more to her than just this.

so lets move onto Fierce.

This character I have a lot more to explain of, less to show. I draw him plenty you know who he is. He’s 8ft5, messy long hair that can be found braided, and has a bad attitude.

This fella is almost always angry and really just likes to intimidate people. He’s the kind of guy to throw hands before arguing. Prefers to work alone and doesn’t stick around for praise nor offerings.

The people of Termina respect Fierce, they try to avoid getting in his way. Where he refuses to harm and or interact with them currently (post game) they still refrain from distracting him.

Before the events of the game, before being sealed in the mask, he was a lot more interactive between the people of clocktown. He was a tad friendlier and actually had a few people he liked to visit from time to time.

Shortly after being sealed away unexpectedly for hundreds of years he realized its not worth the pain of losing the people he loves.

Hes going to be around for a long time and feels at this point, that its best he not make friends with mortals anymore.

He had a very close relationship with the deity of the Deku people, Odolwa. They were very close. Odolwa came in a long time ago back when the original god of Termina arrived. he is not related to Mr Termina but they respect eachother. Odolwa may be very old compared to Fierce but he gets along great with him, shares a love for big cool swords, and even will stay up at night with him from time to time and just hang out.

This god was made for Termina, to represent, and protect the people of Termina.

No matter what area they are from he was created to protect them. He is very active and can be seen wandering around both clocktown, and around Termina field until he is needed.

Fierce is uhh,,,, not quite ready for a job as big as this. Atleast not in the eyes of the true and current god.

This man does not quite have a name yet im working on it shh im gonna refer to him as many things.

He is very tall and very slender. He is dressed in long golden robes that almost look like a cape at times, and wears a lot of jewelry. He is the man who made fierce for one reason and one reason only. To replace him.

He’s been around for a very long time and watched over the people of this land.

Having the same type of authoritative intimidation as white diamond from SU, he stands very tall, moves very gracefully, shows no fear, and is constantly smiling.

There is a minor god who follows this man. He’s pretty much just backup who agrees with everything Mr.Termina says. Hes no where near as strong no where near as intimidating but he is his right hand man.

Mr.Termina and his Right hand man want to go run away and never come back to this hellhole. They want to be free to relax and no longer have duties of a god.

He creeped out a lot of people so uhhh,,,, he’s sort of been a holy being in the sky who watches rather than be a part of the people. They barely know him and by the time Fierce is made he is the only icon in their eyes.

Fierce was made to be just as powerful if not more powerful than this god. Pretty much just condensed and improved. Mr.Termina wanted him to have a mortal form so he can fit in better with humans rather than being a big scary monster/deity who would scare them away.

He has been keeping Fierce in check, cares little to nothing about sentimental value nor emotions and will even go as far as calling Fierce weak and or soft for a god. This really starts to corrupt and hurt him and he gets very self conscious about appearing as “weak” so he really tends to beat himself up. He’s sounding a tad mentally abusive towards his creation. This only makes Fierce hate him more and more each day.

He really just wants to make Fierce as perfect as he can be before passing the baton over to him but isnt doing it right.

Meaning, he can’t give him all of his powers at once. In fact he hasn’t taught him any out of fear that things wont be working out and fierce may kill him. Hes afraid of what he made lmao. This is why Fierce mostly stays in the physical strength area. He is a very strong man and does have some abilities that he doesn’t control. (Some healing factors)

Fierce has become kind of... rebellious? He’s acting more human than god. Granted hes an angry little man but but it should be expected considering he wanted him to fit in with the humans.

All of this was fine and dandy until Fierce was fed up with what this god was doing to him, killed his right hand man, and was banished to be a mask for a few hundred years. Pretty much papa put his son into timeout without letting him say goodbye to the people he loved back in clocktown.

All of this gods creations have a “if all else fails turn them into a mask so they cant harm me” thing. He cant turn anyone into a mask only his creations.

This is where link found him during the events of MM, used his mask, and set him free in the end of Majoras mask.

This not only benefited Fierce by him studying link and learning how to use magic blasts from his sword,(though he will never admit it) it revealed a dark secret about the old god. One that truly had Fierce scared, yet ready to kill the man.

I refuse to tell you what yet because I want to make more posts on this later on.

After chasing link off he pretty much spends his time lying low. He’s not supposed to be out of timeout. Hes trying his best to learn how to use any other powers he may have currently to be able to last longer than 5 minutes in a fight with the true god. Fierce wants this man dead. No retirement for him mwuahaha

He will attempt to forcefully take his place and do this job right and as much as he hates to make this horrible man proud by doing so, its the only way to save himself and people in the future. ________________________________________________________________ SO uh anyways thanks for reading i love you. why i mcfreakin LOVED the season 2 finale

ok so i kNOW the season 2 finale was like 3827328 years ago bUT,,,, consider: i havent stopped thinkin about ks since then and im starved of content

so basically ive seen a few ppl saying they thought season 2’s finale was anti-climatic but i rly dont think it was at all (especially for sangwoo if ya get me ;))))) ok ill stop) but to be honest we should have seen from when they were taken to the police station that bum was never going to confess and unfortunately for seungbae, bum is like the only shred of evidence seungbae has for his theory on sangwoo. it was engineered so that bum was the one in control here because he was obviously never going to say anything. first of all, he doesnt know the police dont know he killed jieun. this whole thing wasn’t even about her it was about the ceo’s daughter bUT HE DOESNT KNOW THAT!! also even if he DID, he has two options: tell the truth and go back to his abusive uncle who constantly physically, emotionally and sexually abuses him OR lie and go home with sangwoo who constantly physically, emotionally and sexually abuses him BUT occasionally is kind of nice to him (and gets him cake). ALSO we can see that bum would probably not even rat sangwoo out even if his uncle was out of the equation because we see at the start of season 2 that bum was desperate not to leave because “outside is scary” (i feel ya bum i rly do) and when sangwoo told him he was disgusting after he opened up about his uncle he immediately jumped to the conclusion that sangwoo was going to say he doesnt need him anymore (even tho, as much of a mouldy sock sangwoo is, he didnt actually say that) he straight up tried to kill himself. like with no hesitation. so we can see how incredibly dependent he is on sangwoo anyway, so with all of that weighting on him, bums not saying jack shit to seungbae.

but bum isnt the only reason the mission (mission? that sounds very extra considering what bae did was stand on a metal pole and break into a guys house) failed was seungbae himself. his methods are far too rash and he lets his emotions get in the way of his judgement. we can see already from the scene in the bathroom that he doesnt weigh out the risks and consequences of what he does. i mean the guy 1) broke into an ALLEGED SERIAL KILLER’S house 2) without a warrant 3) without letting anyone else know he was there 4) with only a taser and that fuckign pole to defend himself. clearly he aint good at rationally assessing his actions before he takes them ESPECIALLY as he already had some red flags from acting like this in the past. anyway so baes methods are completely ridiculous and the tipping point was when he beat the shit out of sangwoo while he was still handcuffed. like dont get me wrong it was awesome and im sure we all wanted to see that motherfucker get decked (i know i did) but it was also very, very stupid. so with the combination of seungbaes rash methods and bum’s array of reasons not to snitch there was NO WAY sangwoo was getting convicted of murder anytime soon.

and as for the final scene, that was really just showing us how now sangwoo has EVERYTHING he wants. the one person who was suspicious of him has been FIRED and he knows he will never see him again, the police are pretty much on his side now because he knows how easily manipulated they are, he knows that he has bum’s unwavering loyalty 1) because if he leaves he wont have anywhere to go 2) because he knows hes terrified of getting caught because he killed jieun (HE killed jieun, sangwoo has made it very clear to bum that its HIS fault by calling him “mr murderer” and stuff) and 3) he knows bum will never leave him anyway because hes just that dependent on him. so him choosing to ,,, do that ,,, OUTSIDE (and inside if ya get me ;)) (like im not gonna lie every time i read ch 35 i CACKLE at the line “i am inside”) as a display to bum and kind of to himself that he really has it all and he will always win like i saw this post about how he even won that rock paper scissors thing with jieun and he won against yoonjae at the arcade and NOW he has won against the fucking police department (DEPENDABLE POLICE FORCE FOR A SAFE COUNTRY MY A S S) and ALSO we have no idea which direction season 3 will take like after s1 it was kind of obvious like oh shit what they gon do now jieun is dead (rip my sweet angel btw, just so yall know i would die for her even if it wasnt fucking necessary) but s2 really doesnt hint @ anything so thats why i think the season 2 finale was fucking great.

ONE MORE thing i think that the whole dynamic between bum woo and bae is so clever because if bum didnt remind sangwoo of his mother he probably would be dead bc sangwoo would have killed him but he keeps bum with him because believe it or not he is dependent on bum too. like the two times he thought he had lost him forever (ch 27 and ch 13 i think) he lost his SHIT. and if bum hadnt had such a horrible childhood he wouldn’t have obsessed for years over being saved by sangwoo in the millitary and wouldn’t be so emotionally dependent on him. and if bae was more rational and calmed the FUCK down he would be able to find a better way to apprehend sangwoo. but each of these flaws in them keeps the structure going and that is why not only the season 2 finale but the whole damn series is so fuckign good, thank you for coming to my ted talk

summer qtr review/thoughts

buckle up kiddos its gonna be long -- this is mainly for my benefit tbh (tw for ed talk but as usual, no detail about behaviors)

but i feel like i tumbled less this summer and tbh i think that is ?? probably good

anyway

the quarter started off horrifically bad because i deteriorated a lot in florence. like, im so happy i went to florence and i experienced so many things and got so much braver and more confident, but i didn’t realize those positive effects until many weeks in, and they didn’t develop fully until i’d left

but i lost like..... at least 15 pounds without trying to or even realizing

surprise! italy is triggering for eating disorders....who knew....not this stanford-educated bitch right here....

anyway i was half dead when i got home to new jersey. i figured this summer i’d have to Actually Recover, and i’d dropped out of my program in south africa to be at stanford, catch up on my major, and get my shit together health-wise

That Did Not Happen, Unsurprisingly

having a disorder means.....the worse u get.....ur brain cares less about recovering....so I hit my lowest weight ever a couple weeks after getting back to ol’ stanf

it sukked cuz summer is triggering because it’s so beautiful and warm outside and like !!! shorts!!! crop tops!!! but anyway i hauled ass to the doctor to make sure i wasn’t going to die

she said “libby you are going to die very soon if you keep doing this”

but!!! that was the go-ahead i needed to flip the switch into Recovery Mode(tm) and i went to cvs the next day and bought hundreds of dollars worth of vitamins and supplements and safe foods because it was an Investment or whatever

and like......it’s been rocky. I’ve slipped up countless times. I gained 10 lbs in the first week and that was super scary lol so I relapsed, and then half-recovered from that, and since then it’s been a tug-of-war with the mental illness goblin

BUT that being said, the whole process has been kind of fun/motivating in a weird way, like I was a scientist and my body was the experiment, and I was just throwing data points into it and seeing what worked.

and ????? Some Things Worked !!! and it really awakens my sense of curiosity to see what things help me-- the nutrition and supplements helped my mood, energy, relationships (kinda? who knows what it would’ve been like otherwise), academics (same as relationships), confidence, etc. it even changed my personality i think, or at least minimized the things i didn’t like about myself and let me cultivate the things i like

like for example, i’m actually.....not an introvert i don’t think? i was talking to my mom about this yesterday -- she thinks she’s a 60/40 E/I and I’m the opposite, so we’re both ambiverts with different leanings. I identify as an introvert because I like solitary activities bc I’m used to being alone, but I realized this summer that.....being alone isn’t always good for me because it awakens mental illness goblin, but also I ??? really like talking to people and I’m good at conversations ??? I met lots of non-Stanf people from going out so much and it was always really refreshing and cool and I got energy from it....definition of an extravert

had conversations that really cemented my current values - got to talk about my classes and how much i loved them, how much the shallowness of bay area tech bothers me, how much i loved italy (florence is so hazy to me rn!! bizarre), regional differences in psychology (my passion tbh) and it just feels so good to care about things wow !! is this what it’s like to be neurotypical? no wonder yall are out there doin it

so I am not recovered in any sense of the word but I am so. much. better. I reduced a hella lot of behaviors, rarely felt depressed, and achieved pretty much everything i wanted, even though this was my sixth straight quarter of college and if i hadn’t done this self-imposed health regimen i don’t think i would’ve died, but i would’ve eroded and probably dropped out of school to go back to residential

should i be getting professional treatment? i think a lot of recovery blogs or experts would say yes, because they’re of the mind you can’t half-recover, and treatment comes before education, etc. and i don’t completely disagree and maybe once i graduate i’ll agree. but. i know that right now i want to be in school. i cannot fully recover on my own, but on my own is the only way i can get pieces of everything that i want.

i’m healthier and happier because i made the best grades i’ve ever gotten at stanford (easy-ass classes for sure, but i’m still glad i performed as well as i possibly could. it’s a point of pride for me that even though my illness can get really severe, it’s never impacted my grades.) and i still did lots of really fun things! it was less social than last summer, where i went out every other day, but i still went to santa cruz beach boardwalk, an ed sheeran concert, a gay club in SF, SO MANY bars in downtown palo alto (at the point where multiple bartenders recognize me), a play in redwood city, coffee shops and dinner dates and sunlit morning walks to class listening to jukebox the ghost and happy-buzzed from green tea.

i’ll just say it, my fashion was kinda lit this summer....i was very physically confident, which is mixed because i might be romanticizing unhealthiness even though i am healthier than before. who knows. i am in transit

i feel like i didnt socialize as much this quarter with my actual close friends but instead met lots of one-time people and like, it was really nice meeting new people, bc when the people are always changing, i can see which elements of me stay the same. and getting to know who i am now is so interesting because tbh?? ive been through a lot this year (and also with, like, life) it’s so weird thinking of myself As A Whole when anything more than a year ago feels like a fever dream or made up story....anyway!

i did get to see my friends fairly frequently and i’m grateful for every time i did because i’m v lucky to have anyone in my life when i change as much as the fricken weather

my friends who loved stanford before are more over it now, and its funny bc i used to hate it but now im used to the school so i dont anymore. im a senior, i know the school well, ive been a member of so many clubs, been to so many on campus houses, explored the area extensively, taken a variety of classes….im not totally out of FOMO but its so reduced that im confident with what ive done there, and my ego isnt as threatened by other people bc i know i have my own kind of value. it doesnt matter if its objective or not bc how i feel is ultimately what matters

like its not all about what i feel if i dont do anything about it. but ive done some stuff! and im trying to make the shitty interpersonal stuff better! its going!

was able to read and write a little bit which is neaterino ! and i liked my job at the library, it was fun and easy

anyway if i think too much about it i’ll trip out because thinking about life sends me into existential despair, but this was a good quarter. up there with sophomore spring for my favorite/happiest/best feeling quarter? probably even better than soph spring because i was sick for most of the spring. every quarter has ups and downs and this was no exception but the downs didn’t feel as debilitating and the air didn’t feel like a fire blanket for once, and now that i have some strategies under my belt i can’t imagine things ever really getting that bad for a while
