not to indulge in a bit of selfishness here but there’s something that can be kind of cynical about seeing posts about ✨engagement✨ and ✨supporting creators✨ and ✨giving reblogs and/or comments on fics and art instead of just likes and kudos✨ being reblogged by people who you’ve seen leave just a like on one of your fics and then decided to be done with it hfhvdhvsgcdfv. like, this isn’t a call out post, i’m not holding a grudge if you’ve done this, it’s just……kind of a weird thing to see y’know

Attention JSE Community: Important
PLEASE REBLOG
This will probably blow up in my face, but something needs to be said. Besides, anyone who comes after me for this supports genocide, so. Whatever. Free blocklist if anyone sends me hate anons.
There's a person in the community, who runs a few blogs you may know, which you'll want to block if a) you're Palestinian or b) you wholeheartedly oppose the genocide taking place against them. I'm going to provide context, then list the blogs you'll want to block.
Back in November or so, when I first started reblogging pro-Palestine posts, I as an American wasn't as informed at the time about the war going on as I am now. Like any sensible American, I fully expected that any major media source I'd be given info from would be feeding me propaganda or just lies in general. (I'm right but I digress). As soon as I started reblogging pro-Palestine posts, I got concerned asks from two anonymous Israeli people who were formerly veteran followers of mine (one had been following me for at least 6 years). I thought their concern was reasonable, given I doubted the media sources I'd be most likely to get information from. I offered to let them correct me if I reblogged misinformation, assuming America would lie to me about both sides of the war, because of course I want to ensure I'm not perpetuating misinfo.
Mind you, I only reblogged 3 types of pro-Palestine posts: charity signal boosts, posts BY Palestinians, and videos of actual literal real life footage of proof or interviews about what Israeli forces are doing to Palestine and its people.
The anons I was getting started getting angrier, more aggressive, and guilt-trippy. I'm not sure which post was their last straw, but either the main anon (the one following me 6+ years) or BOTH anons I had previously heard from attacked me in my askbox calling me antisemitic and saying other nasty things because I was supporting Palestine. The main anon guilt-tripped me and straight up claimed Israel is not harming Palestine whatsoever, in other words denying the genocide is happening. Then they unfollowed me. This person owns the blogs I'm going to list to you.
I haven't heard from this main anon or the other one on Tumblr since, however they both were, until recently, also in a JSE Community theorist server I mod in, and recently blew up in there after the server mods declared their support for Palestine. The server owners AND the mods have been getting hate anons from Zionists (presumably the two anons sending multiple asks) for the last few days because of it, just like I did when I kept reblogging pro-Palestine posts.
One of the two anons, I'm unsure which, also owned a blog called @/hamas-is-isis, which is now inactive and/or deleted. You can still block the blog regardless just to be safe. Whichever anon didn't own the blog was reblogging its posts. So both anons supported the blog to say the least.
NOTE: DO NOT INTERACT WITH THESE BLOGS. ONLY BLOCK THEM. THIS POST IS NOT INTENDED TO CAUSE HARASSMENT, ONLY AWARENESS.
The main anon, the one denying the genocide is happening, owns the following blogs, two of which are/were major community blogs (which is why I'm fully expecting this to blow up in my face somehow).
@/theoristsden
@/hug-bot
@/aceofspades-lena (this is the main anon & possibly the owner of @/hamas-is-isis)
I strongly urge anyone who sees this post to block them, because I and at least 6 other people I will not name to avoid them getting harassed further, have witnessed this person being legitimately malicious towards Palestine and the topic of it. Again, they sent me an ask denying that Israel was hurting Palestinian people.
The second anon, the server mods realized today, had previously been sending subtle Islamophobic dogwhistle art in the server. We didn't catch it until after it came out that they're Zionists. Obviously, for any members of the server who see this that may be concerned, the mods have now deleted that art. The following blogs are theirs and I'm urging anyone who sees this to block them too:
@/phantomhunt
@/spacetimesystem
On the spacetimesystem blog, there are other sideblogs they listed in their pinned post if you want to go as far as to block those too.
I won't share it on this post, but the mods of the server I mentioned have screenshot proof of some of the hate anons that have been sent (I don't have any of the ones I got months ago unfortunately), as well as some other things these two have said. We also have a screenshot of the art.
I also want to mention, we found them discussing the idea of making a JSE community space that would "accept them." If you see Discord invites floating around, be wary. You could unknowingly be joining a Zionist-owned, anti-Palestine server.
Absolutely mind-boggling to me that these two would do all this or be this way when the charity that Sean supported for Thankmas this year is helping Palestinians. Not to mention he just straight up doesn't want hateful people in his community at all. But I digress.
Anyway, I urge you to block the blogs I listed. At least one of them is genuinely malicious and has attacked multiple people on anon over voicing support for Palestine. The other made art that implied Palestinians are monsters.
Free Palestine, and stay safe.
And once more: DO NOT INTERACT WITH THE LISTED BLOGS. ONLY BLOCK. I AM NOT MAKING THIS POST LOOKING TO GET ANYONE HARASSED.

Here's the thing about guilt-trippy language in otherwise helpful and informative posts.
When I don't reblog them, it's not because the tone offended me and I'm retaliating by rescinding my support. It's not because I think only people who are polite to me deserve to be listened to. It's because that language completely throws off the optics of reblogging and sharing it.
It's been said time and again how unhelpful and unwelcome it is when people with XYZ privilege post public melodramatic expressions of their guilt. No one wants to see people make others' oppression about them by complaining about how guilty and awful it makes them, the people who don't actually experience that oppression, feel.
But when a post with good information has phrasing like "X group should reblog this" or "no one's talking about this" or "unfollow me if you don't reblog this", sharing it suddenly carries the risk of making people look like that. It makes them look like they're only reblogging it because they were guilted into doing it. It makes their support of good causes look performative.
The goal when making informative posts should be encouraging the spread of information. The way to accomplish that isn't making people feel guilty for things that, for all you know, they aren't even doing or saying or feeling. You need to create as few barriers as possible.
Guilt-trippy language is a barrier and I wish people would stop putting it up.

There have been quite a bit of "guilt trippy" and "forceful" posts recently about how you must reblog everything you give a Like, how reblogging is like the lifeblood of this site, and so forth. And yeah, it's true, reblogging is very helpful for everyone involved, especially on Tumblr.
But I want to reassure others (and myself too!) who fret about these (at times) pressing and aggressive-sounding posts. You don't have to reblog if you don't want your blog to be filled with them. Your blog may have a theme/specific subject like it being an art, ask, or roleplay blog. It's fine to not want to clutter your blog(s) with things unrelated to your blog's theme.
The upside of Tumblr is that you can have side blogs and you can dedicate one of them to reblogs only. You can name it whatever you want if you don't want others to quickly find it, in case the stuff you enjoy is on a more personal level you aren't willing to publicly share. I have one too because I'm one of the people who likes to stay on theme with their blogs. It's a bit of a hassle to reblog posts to a side blog if you aren't used to it yet, but you'll get it in time. Just make sure you have an avatar and banner on this side blog, and maybe a short bio/description, to show you aren't a bot. That helps with not getting your side blog blocked.
The thoughts of "I don't want to reblog-spam someone's notifications" or "I don't want to flood my mutuals and followers' feeds with many reblogs" are valid, but still ones you should try and put aside. It's not up to you to curate other people's online experiences; it's their own. If someone doesn't want their posts to be reblogged, they can opt out of that. If a follower/mutual doesn't want to see certain reblogs, they can use Xkit (Rewritten) or whatever tools to hide or blacklist them. You reblog what makes you happy or like to share, and if you're more comfortable doing so from a side blog, then please do. While tags in reblogs are appreciated, they aren't a must so don't feel pressured about that either.
While I know all this is supposed to be common knowledge, I just wanted to make this post in case some of my followers are nervous about the whole reblog subject, or are still learning about how Tumblr works. You've got this!

Hey I know reblogs are worth more than likes, and I fully support liking and reblogging, but the phrasing on your mapleshade post is very abusive and guilt trippy!! /nm
hey first of all i wanna start this off saying i'm not trying to start a fight or drama or anything, i have conflict anxiety i don't want to start shit in the reblogs
also, i understand that posts that say things like "if you don't reblog this i can't trust you / signal boost / everyone reblog this i don't care" can be very harmful, i myself tend to avoid reblogs that say that.
however i really don't think that "don't like if you're not going to reblog" is abusive or guilt tripping, ESPECIALLY abusive? that is a very strong accusation to make and i don't appreciate the sentiment that the language i used is abusive or a guilt-tripping. my caption was not meant to be a guilt trip either. it was meant literally, and it was meant to be a little firm - i don't want likes. reblog art.
i've gotten several asks in the past about this caption that i put on my art and i will repeat myself: likes. are. worthless. on tumblr likes have no function. only reblogs matter when it comes to art and artist exposure. to me, getting a like on my art is like getting a notification that says "this person didn't care or like your art enough to reblog."
reblogs share art with others, give the artist exposure and allow for comments and thoughts in the tags, maybe gain new followers. it's so much more rewarding and motivational to receive a reblog whereas a like does nothing.
reblog art or you will stop seeing art.
if you have a replacement suggestion that isn't "reblogs > likes" which people tend to ignore, i'd be happy to hear it, but first, take a look at this.
this is a piece of my art, posted on my main blog, without my "don't like if you're not going to reblog" caption.
Tumblr media
this is a piece of my art, posted on my main blog, with my "don't like if you're not going to reblog" caption. (and even still the likes are higher than the reblogs with about 200 more likes)
Tumblr media
my caption is firm because it has to be, because tumblr has a MASSIVE problem with artists and me and all my artist friends are pretty much at the end of our patience.

I've been thinking about feelings-based activism, and I think it's one of the root causes of antis.
Appealing to an audience's emotions is a good way to get a point across or to inspire action, but that's not what I'm talking about. I mean the kind of activism where a person having specific feelings is the end goal.
I mean the kind of armchair activism where feeling bad about the latest problem with the world is the correct thing to do. The kind where you're supposed to reblog a bunch of guilt-trippy posts about [insert bad thing here], because going about your day and feeling happy or fulfilled means you don't care, and not caring is the same as actually perpetuation the bad thing.
And I think this is where some of the anti shit is coming from. They aren't about reducing the amount of harm in the world, they're about making people feel bad that harm exists. And that mindsent lends itself a little too easily to the notion that popping a boner or smiling at a fictional depiction of something is the same as perpetuating harm in real life.
You have to be actively sad and angry about bad things 100% of the time, because the end goal of activism is to spread awareness of a problem, not to actually solve the problem.
So experiencing something like lust or happiness over some fictional blorbo means that you don't care about (and are thus complicit in) real life harm.

How Allison Cameron would react to a reader who has low empathy
Tumblr media
Warnings: Cameron being a little insensitive at first due to ignorance, general warning for her guilt trippy/overly judgmental nature (which I personally love tbh but that's just me), brief mentions of death/sickness in a medical setting/context
A/N: this is partially based on the opposites attract trope but I mostly just wanted to write something with Cameron being her pathetic self /affectionate
Tumblr media
Honestly knowing Cameron she would most likely be pretty judgmental of you at first I'm not even going to lie, probably even going as far as to avoid you unless it was absolutely necessary to work together
This would only be lessened some if you were her superior or someone who she looked up to in general (basically someone like House)
Even then she'd still be a tad bit wary of you, probably assuming that because you display low empathy you don't really care about other people
Obviously that's an outdated stereotype that doesn't apply to every single person with low empathy but as someone who wears her heart on her sleeve for everyone to see she'd most likely buy into it
It's only when she sees you comforting the family of a dying patient that she realizes you actually do care, just in a different way that she does
She does her best to put her preconceived notions about you to the side so she can get to know you better, and finds out that you're actually a decent person, if not the best
Sure, you struggle with empathy and displaying your feelings in a way that seems genuine, but it doesn't make you a bad person. It's just the way you are
Realizing she made a mistake when it came to judging you before she even got to know you, she for sure goes out of her way trying to make it up to you, even if you insist it's fine
She gains a new perspective and a certain amount of respect for you after that- and if you want to go down that road, maybe she even goes so far as to forming some sort of crush on you like she did for House, though whether it's because she actually likes you or because she thinks she can "fix" you is up for debate
Tumblr media
End notes: I love Cameron so much she's my favorite girlfailure ever <3

Distinguishing scams from non-scams
Support those who need help that are legitimate users and have posts that are truthful who have means of communications enabled and can be sent messages if your still cautious.
Asks to reblog pinned posts are usually scams. Generally they'll have their ask boxes disabled and messages turned off meaning you can't contact them. They'll commonly tell you their cat/dog needs help but the pictures being used are reused/stolen from others. Other times the pinned post is about anything else but is still a scam. These scammers will spam ask boxes of any user they may find in a certain tag and then may start tagging popular tumblr blogs to spread the scam. They'll make a guilt trippy story and send asks to users who are not financially stable enough to support anyone. Or are too young to be able to. The scammers blog is set to be hidden. You won't be able to access the blogs archive to see all posts. However! On mobile there's timestamps so you can see if a blog is days/hours old when they started up sending asks. You can see if the blog is new or was an old one that suddenly started posting months later. Search the e-mail listed. If it's already got a warning posted about it, it's a scam.
You can find people who legitimately need help. They'll have all methods of contact enabled and will answer any questions you have. They (hopefully) didn't spam ask boxes for you to find them. Often they'll be mutual followers or friends of those sharing their posts. They won't have a strangely worded donation post and likely is using a well known donation service to collect funds. They also hopefully didn't use SO MANY tags on their donation post because they want it to be easier to find. Their blogs are (usually) accessed from wherever, though some may have it set to hidden for personal reasons regardless.
As an aside, it's Pride Month. Some scammers will use this as well to scam users unfortunately.
(If you liked this post enough, perhaps donate to my ko-fi? But otherwise, I decided to hopefully cover everything here. Yet again once more wasting money to spread this final warning across tumblr.)

This sounds stupid but I kind of wish there was a way to “follow” ppl on tumblr without following them, y’know?
I’ve been getting stressed out because I’m seeing a lot of like. Idk how else to phrase it. Guilt-trippy adjacent posts that really fuck with my head. I’ve had to unfollow a lot of friends over it (through no fault of their own, I understand they’re trying to spread awareness which is good but some of the phrasing of these posts that are being reblogged are just so mean-spirited)
Realizing now that it’s not even the guilt-tripping that’s really bothering me tbh, it’s like, incessant discourse about fandom stuff and celebrities and—christ, I hate that I’m even saying this—cancel culture that’s really setting me off. And I’m trying to protect my peace because I can’t help others if I’m constantly spiraling from being set off. I genuinely don’t know how other people manage to compartmentalize this stuff or reblog about it and then move on. Because I just can’t.

Ugh I really don't like complaining about random stuff people do, but the guilt-trippy and hostile variations on "reblogs are better than likes" messages on art really bother be so much they trigger my anxiety and make me feel awful every time I see them and I can't freaking filter them because everyone always phrases it differently

OOC POST. ABOUT TARAKA AND CURRENT COMMUNITY DRAMA
im gonna be real im so fucking glad that like shit about taraka has finally been brought up because i, among others, had to deal with his bullshit and inability to learn from his mistakes or understand consequences for months.
from not understanding basic rp etiquette, to repeatedly harassing and guilt tripping people about plots he did not like but was not involved in at all, many people were made uncomfortable by him, and several people outright set boundries while telling taraka that he had made them uncomfortable. taraka would regularly guilt trip us as well by threatening to leave the server whenever we pointed these things out, and when we pointed out it was guilt trippy, he would say he was simply expressing his feelings.
THAT IS NOT EXPRESSING YOUR FEELINGS. THAT IS A THREAT.
obviously i'm not going to say i am an unbiased person. i am incredibly biased because i had to deal with taraka from around mid to late febuary all the way to mid july, and have only just now been able to rant about and discuss the quite frankly childish behavour taraka demonstrated for that entire period of time. but i will say that i am among SEVERAL who have made their issues with taraka clear to me and discussed his behaviour at length on discord.
there is a lot of screenshots i wish to send, but as several people are not online for me to ask their permission, as well as the fact i sure as hell am not asking taraka for permission for any of these, i will refrain from sending most of them. a screenshot from me setting a boundary (which admittidly, taraka regularly brought up in a manner that felt guilt trippy and seemed to regularly try and get just close enough to crossing without actually doing so) was already shared with my permission in the reblog thread anyways.
i have a lot more i could share, but without my ability to share screenshots at this time, i am refraining to. i don't want to throw around accusations that while i know are true, and have many friends who can back me up, i don't have photo evidence of.
in the end though, i, as well as many others, were often made incredibly uncomfortable about taraka and to see he has not been able to learn from his mistakes even after being removed from a discord server and spoken to by both mods and players about it is saddening. taraka is an adult. many people involved are minors, myself included, and the fact that we've had to be the bigger person is upsetting.

Important question:
(check the REASONINGS below for propaganda)
REASONINGS:
We all know the Gene Wilder boat scene, right? The one that traumatized you in your childhood?
So my automatic thought was something so trippy and gaslighting HAD to be Spiral...but we also know that as far as "trippiness" goes, the Stranger is more likely. And boy, is the Factory strange.
Other Spiral evidence: (again, mostly based on best-movie Wonka)
You've got Wonka pretending to need a cane to make his first entrance in years because he's a dramatic fuck
So many rooms. Where the fuck is anything
Says everything like it's completely normal (the snozzberries taste like snozzberries)
Glass elevator that can go literally any way it wants to
Casually yeeting children into humiliating circumstances to make a Point
That whole weird meta movie plot with Slugworth befriending the winners and trying to get them to betray trade secrets but it was actually Wonka all along
Stranger evidence:
You can't tell me the Oompa Loompas aren't Stranger. They're orange. They're supposedly tiny people from the rainforest. They sing and dance (clown like) as they doom literal children to the consequences of their (parents') hubris. They are vicious.
Again, weirdness of the factory and all it's rooms-- this LOOKS like a chocolate factory, but a chocolate factory from a fever dream
Wonka has a bit of a circus ringmaster flair. He doesn't just subtly subvert expectations, he makes it DRAMA
Actively recruits a bunch of children and body-horror twists them into parodies of themselves
And this isn't even getting into the golden ticket nonsense.
Please reblog for better sample size, yadda yadda

idk if this is just me but i think "reblog if you hate pedophiles!" and "share if you love gay people!" posts are stupid. people often get really guilt-trippy on them, ie "if you don't reblog this post you actually hate xxx and you should kys", which results in it being shared more. sharing it doesn't even actually mean anything, because people can lie! so op gets a bunch of notes out of it, and people feel bad, and thats it.
