The Undesirable Feeling Of Love
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
During missions with Leon, every time Ada Wong must always appear, and at first they didn't really mind her. Funny enough, even found her interesting enough to keep her around. But as time passed, they were getting tired of Leon's attitude towards Ada. Always forgetting you and forgiving her sins. After another brutal mission, they finally have the guts to complain about his conduct.
content: angst
warnings and mentions: no assigned gender or race; they/them pronouns used; resident evil 6 kinda mentioned but not really; ada wong isn't the bad guy in this story but she is technically a bad guy; reader and leon fight with words; sexual talk but nothing sexual; the question of what is right or wrong; bad coping mechanism as in sexual; alcohol; jealously from leon's part; bad friend leon; mention of chris redfield; no happy ending
This mission was fucking awful. Fucking awful. Leon wasn't usually an idiot like this, he wasn't usually an idiot, but this time they couldn't deal with it. Oh, this time was full of anger and frustration. They stopped Leon in front of the agency, they were tapping their foot on the ground as they saw Leon approach. Leon immediately groaned, there wasn't peace between these friends since 2005 thanks to Leon's decisions. "What do you want?" He walked back them. He didn't stop to look at his friend in the eye, they followed Leon quickly; their heel turned around and walked with Leon.
"What the hell was this mission, Kennedy?" They glared at Leon, "No offense but not even our last mission with her around got this bad."
Leon rolled his eyes, "Ada died and this is your first complain." The two friends walked down the streets, people ignored them as they began their conversation. "Leon, the problem is you." They stopped Leon with a simple gesture but it didn't last. Leon kept walking.
They groaned, "I know you like her but for fuck's sake," The sun was making this conversation feel even worst, the sun burned on their backs and began to make them sweat. "You fought with Chris to prove a point. You got lucky your point was valid." Leon stopped and looked at his friend, "Are you going to just bitch and moan for what I did? I managed to prove that Ada was innocent all you're doing is complain."
They felt their anger start forming in their cheeks, "That's not my point, Kennedy!"
"What is it then?" Leon clenched his jaw with a grin in his lips, he got close to their face, "Exactly, you got nothing."
They held Leon's forearm, "I got a lot of shit to say, Kennedy." They pulled Leon back, the people still ignored them as the conversation began to get the unnecessary heat. Maybe they should've waited and calm down their anger, but ooh- they absolutely hated how Leon had semi called them a bitch and his stupid grin he wanted to get. "A whole lot of shit to say." Leon glared back at his friend. "What is it, huh?"
They couldn't believe that this situation was forming and it was getting worst. "Fuck, have you been drinking?" They tried to speak calmly.
"No, no, don't try to get rid of this conversation- what did I do to you that was so horrible?" Leon swallowed as his arms crossed against his chest.
"Fall in love with Ada." They replied so simply that it made them feel guilty. Sure, Ada had her horrible flaws but she didn't deserve to get dragged in this conversations. "I don't know how you managed it. But a stupid simple kiss and six years later kept your cock hard for years." Oh, no. They are losing control. They closed their eyes to try to relax, and while they managed to calm down Leon was getting even more pissy.
"My cock hard, huh?" Leon pushed himself back. It was obvious that this fight was getting worst and for some reason no one still didn't see or try to listen to their conversation.
"Yeah, your stupid cock. You are always forgiving Ada's contributions from making the virus worst," They clenched their jaw, "And when you finally actually got the chance to fuck her, you got fucking worst." Their voice didn't shake. They never wanted to be a negative Nancy when speaking about the relationship Leon had with Ada. "I know Ada isn't technically a bad person but she is working against us."
Leon got their face, "Yeah, like all those times she saved us, huh? Did you forget when we were Spain? Do you remember Raccoon City! Even this stupid mission!" His blue eyes looked cruel against their eyes, but that didn't stop them from snapping back. "Forgiving her despite making the virus worst, huh? Right now, I don't give a shit how many times she saved us because all I see you being a moron."
Leon began to walk away, they quickly followed him, "Then, you bitch and moan crying because you hate fighting against the bioweapons your girlfriend caused." They shrugged, "But that's love right?"
He threw them a dirty stare, "You don't know anything about Ada."
"You don't even know her real name!" They exclaimed annoyed.
Leon's face was twitching with anger, his jaw clenched; He stopped rubbed his face.
"When we first met, I actually thought you were an honest man, you graduated the top of your police academy, but seeing a hot woman makes you an idiot." They started to feel more calm. Did they have all this anger inside them without knowing? It didn't matter. They felt tired.
"At least she didn't leave me like you did," Leon said looking back at them, "She actually tried to know the man I was." Their anger was fluttering inside but Leon continued to speak. "What did you do?-"
"Are you a fucking idiot or does the idiot way of thinking appeared since you got pussy?" They snapped back angrily. They glared at Leon, they pursed their lips together, "You were the moron who decide to get missions and vacations without me since Spain. I actually thought we were getting better in 2007, but I was wrong- so painfully wrong." They actually thought they were getting close to Leon, the have been friends since 1998 and apparently they didn't try hard enough for him. Their emotions were getting worst, but in a different way.
"And that's why you went crawling to Chris?" Leon gritted his teeth, "Because I had a life without you?"
They began to let tears go, "Because you were my friend." They whispered. They didn't care if Leon was with Ada, but the way Leon just decided to act that their friendship meant nothing. They cleaned their tears away from their face, but something appeared in their mind... They looked at Leon and shook their head, "I don't love you anymore." It came from their soul. It was the most fragile thing that wasn't suppose to come out, but now Leon heard it. Leon's face soften, "What?"
They didn't know either, was it the romantic way or the platonic way? They shook their head as they repeated it again, "I-I don't love you anymore." Their voice stuttered. Leon wasn't the same Leon they grew to love, he was different and mean- they slowly began walking back to the agency. Leon didn't try to follow them because he was stuck with those words. They once loved Leon.
Leon tried to look at them but they were gone; All Leon had were the people walking around him. They were on their phones or talking with each other. Leon stood alone in a crowd.

After thinking more deeply about it, people shouldn’t get mad when seeing the majority shipping AyaYui because they are the most perfect for each other…not always in the good way. They are both obsessive weirdos that are unable to communicate properly and end up doing so much dumb shit that not only hurts them but also the ones around them.
Now I’m not saying they are the most problematic characters in the game, but they just are such menaces for whoever is connected to them. They be wondering why Yui wouldn’t make such a good couple with Subaru and Azusa but the reason is that they’re exactly too soft for her. They just want a kind and motherly girl but Yui keeps putting them in uncomfortable situations, doesn’t respect their boundaries and is unable to comprehend their introversion. Ik she was in a dangerous situation at first but that’s over after the second game, isn’t it? They started dating so if that’s what she truly wanted, she has to take responsibility for that and bring her brain to work.
Now about Mr. Yours Truly, he wasn’t irredeemably bad in the first game but he was such an asshole, let’s be frank. After the first game, Yui started treating him poorly or, again , not paying attention to whatever he was going through but I just couldn’t feel bad for him. They both fucked eachother up so bad but in an equal way so I can’t say any of them is better than the other, like some of their individual fans do. I’m not saying this about the Admin but some Yui and Ayato stans must actually hate the characters and only love their fanon version of them. Just because they forgive their abusers and are friendly doesn’t make them the kindest character anyone has ever seen. They did too many bad things to be considered the kindest and I’m not gonna follow the “they went insane” excuse because I really don’t care. All characters are insane and broken but not all of them did as much shit as they did.
I’m not justifying anything from that dick but e.g. when Karlheinz commits a genocide to make ghouls, he is said to have abused his powers and is evil but when Yui commits a genocide because her cute Ayato-kun 〜 died and kills all living things on both worlds, that’s seen as romantic? Like that’s extremely evil and selfish of her too. Or when others complain about the vampires being possessive and jealous, when Yui is the same person that stabbed Shu and threw him in the dungeon afterwards out of jealousy and she also paralysed Ayato then used him as her pleasure slave only because he drank blood from other chicks. Again, I’m not excusing them but she’s just as worse when triggered enough. All the fanwars are stupid when the game only has characters that wouldn’t be perceived as mentally sane or innocent angels in real life.
// Uuh… you kinda worded it a bit too harshly but I do get where you come from.
The thing is Yui, Ayato, Azusa, Subaru and Yuma are characters described by Rejet as either pure or kind-hearted, yet this doesn’t mean they necessarily have to be saints sent from above 24/7. Good people can react horribly under stress, pressure or shock. Yes, they can do wrong stuff and treat others badly as a result, but this doesn’t mean they have a bad soul. Trauma is not the same from person to person and everyone reacts to it differently. It can turn good people into monsters depending on the severity of the circumstances and some might never come back to their original nature. And, even if they do, this will not excuse their actions, but as long as they try to change for the better and take accountability, I believe they deserve a second chance.
Rejet makes Yui go mad in some endings and After stories to demonstrate that she is capable of doing something as awful as the Diaboys if an event hits her hard enough, just like it did to them. And, to be honest, that's realistic. Of course, not the story, but the fact that every person, no matter how strong, has a breaking point.
Speaking of the genocide committed by Yui, the reason why it’s considered romantic is not the deed itself, but the fact Yui created an Ayato ghoul after exterminating everything, only because she wanted to be killed by the man she loved. I think this was the only time Yui seriously used her brain, and the fact she was crazy when doing that, makes it hilarious.
As for the Yandere endings, Yui does that to Shu in MB, if I recall correctly but it was so unexpected because she really didn’t get any vibes throughout the route, therefore I guess it was just random writing. In Ayato’s route, the obsessive tendencies were obvious when she started looking through Ayato’s swimsuit magazines and tried measuring her boobs to the ones of those girls. I was pretty sure she would pull a possessive move on him later on, lol.
Truth be told, I don't mind that in fictional couples as long as they're both obsessed with each other and it's not one-sided. Besides, it’s funny how even Ruki called Yui “Ayato obsessed” in CL.
As a DL fan, I understand that no character is a total green flag because they all display toxic behavior in regular circumstances, no matter if intentional or not. Nonetheless, that shouldn’t stop us from loving them. Some people prefer the softer aspects of DL, while others prefer the darker, but keep in mind that those who prefer talking well about their favs don't want to be always reminded of all the bad things they did, especially if those characters regret them or weren't in the best mental state at the time.

As a kid watching Ninjago, I was just interested in the flashy powers, and the heroics of the main characters, like any kid would. Like, 'Aw these guys are so heroic and selfless and awesome'
But now as an adult, when I recommended my GF the show, I specifically said "This is Family Issues: The Lego Cartoon"
Honestly, Jay likes to complain and hide his upbringing, but he's probably the ONLY ninja with any resemblance of a normal happy childhood and backstory. He has two loving parents who supported him, and was an aspiring inventor.
You could argue Fritz Donegan rectified it, but Jay didn't know this, so how would this affect how is childhood turned out?
At worst, he was dirt poor, living in a junkyard and all, but compared to what the rest of his team went through, I think they'd WANT what Jay had.
Nah, instead most of Jay's trauma and emotional baggage is in the present.
And who else do we have?
We have a robot who didn't even know he was a robot, or had any idea of his identity or memory, so much so that he was just... wandering around the land with amnesia. (Then, you know, everyone thought he was weird)
We have Cole, who grew up in a harsh family background where his dad forced/pressured his kid to be a musician, and canonically suffered depression and bad violence habits after the loss of his mother/during her illness. (Idk about those other Royal Blacksmiths if they are in the family or not, but either way they didn't seem supportive)
Kai and Nya's parents up and vanished from their lives at ages five and three, and they had to raise each other all by themselves with just a blacksmith shop. Basically means they were forced to end their childhoods right there, especially Kai, because older sibling. And there's no indication they had any friends or anyone to help them in their town, at most there was that one lady that they hated, so... ouch.
And... Lloyd.
Just Lloyd.
Half of the show is just Lloyd suffering.
Born as the son of a man forced into an evil oni maniac, said father ditched his entire family.
Mom decided it was a good idea to abandon her kid in a boarding school about villainy. (That's like, the ONE thing I genuinely think the movie did better than the show.)
And that school heavily bullied Lloyd and even exiled him, forcing him on the streets, basically
Everyone hates him and doesn't help him (until Pythor)
Gets tricked by Pythor
Gets kidnapped by Serphantine
Nearly dies in lava
Is given a destiny as the savior of all of Ninjago where he's forced to be on opposite sides of his father, and part of said destiny involves him needing to kill him
AGAINST HIS WILL MIND YOU
Was LITERALLY forced to give up his childhood for this destiny
Was tortured by the Overlord for his golden power
Ice Ninja died
He got his father back, and then he died.
Was possessed by an evil ghost tyrant and was forced to do horrible stuff with no control over himself
Was also physically strained to his limit with that possession
Lost his uncle
Fell in love, and then said crush turns out to be a twist villain who wants to TORTURE him, resurrect his father and steal that fatherly love from him, and have said father try to KILL HIM
Which he was very close to succeeding at
Has to live in hiding for a week thinking all his friends are dead
Twist villain crush dies in a building collapse
That traumatizes him and haunts his trust and empathy towards people for A LONG TIME
Gets cubed in a video game (idk if that counts as trauma)
He's also a dragon oni hybrid, and his oni hide haunts his mind for his entire life, and is terrified to even think of a part of himself
Merge. For weeks he thought all his friends were dead. (Again)
And you know, physical beatdowns from being the Green Ninja, one of the most responsible jobs as the savior of all of Ninjago.
And that is not even everything, I'm sure there's a lot of stuff I didn't mention.
This poor, poor Emo Child.
If this wasn't a Lego show, this would have a Clone Wars tone, I'm convinced.
So yeah, 'Family Issues: The cartoon'.
At least they all have each other. They're a happy found family, and the light in each other's lives. They're here for each other. Their dynamics are precious to me.

What Marinette did at the end of season 5 is dangerous lesson to internalize to young children because if people are dissecting and going deeply in depth with s5 episodes like Derision and the final two parter episode and mind you these are adults or at least pass the age intended for this show demographic how are young kids living similar lives to adrian or chloe going to be affected? Kids brats or not react differently the whole good victim mentality narrative in this show is disgusting when it comes to the topic of akumas and how it relates to mental health. Like if there is a chloe or adrien child watching this show I feel horrible for them because what hope or closure do they really get from this show what lesson imparted in this show is actually being taught in goodwill like did the producers or whoever behind it not see how bad the messaging with their abuse apologist is how are parents not complaining or at the very least concerned?
I was whirl-winded by the finale in of itself and what I got was Marinette essentially following through with the villains plan and keeping it from her love interest while simultaneously gaslighting about his father decisions and making the parent abuser a hero and his victim Adrien in awe.
If adults are trying to rationalize or do whatever they can to scrap whatever integrity left in Marinette character decisions making theories to salvage the wreckage done in the finale two-parter how are children or middle-schoolers rationalizing this because I deeply sincerely hope they don't ever internalize anything from this show the message they impart especially in one of the episodes revolving from Chloe Father especially and the leak episodes they eventually had to scrap because of the backlash is so damn bad.
Like forget the potential what if or canons or annoyance the fandom didn't get their wants with this show because ultimately the show is for kids not them what lesson do we learn here?
I am actually worried. This is a magical girl cartoon aren't the lesson they're supposed to invoke about to teach love and their is hope to change like Digimon for instance they had a character named Ken and Daiki encouraging him and his belief in the mc made him changed so much into a better person. But no, instead Marinette being like Chloe can never change there is no hope from her mouth makes me want to wrangle the writers and people behind it I hope they aren't parents because wtf? Who behind the decisions there for children to consume this sort of trash messaging in forgiving abuse apologist like Gabe.
She's supposed to be a role model but no instead Astruc uses her as a tool to spout whatever grievances he has with the fandom onto the show and characters inside it especially Chloe. I really don't recommend a show like MLB to anyone honestly unless they are aware of this show dumb messaging and people buying into it.
Tumblr media
Exactly. It's so obvious that Marinette just ended up becoming a mouthpiece for the writers to spout their own opinions towards the end, like having her go on numerous anti-Chloe tirades. And I'm not saying that Chloe doesn't deserve to be called out, but it's done so unnaturally, and it feels like the writers are just desperate to get us to hate her without acknowledging any of the character depth they gave her.
And I'm not a Chloe stan or anything, and I do think that it's okay to show that sometimes, people can't change and that victims of abuse can become abusers themselves. But we didn't get that. We got the show telling us, in no uncertain terms, that Chloe is bad because she's evil inside and not because of abuse that we see on screen, and that her father who enabled her and taught her how to be this way is a victim and is more redeemable than her. The fuck is this???
And it just gets worse, because Chloe is evil inside and irredeemable and deserves more abuse as her comeuppance, but the magical terrorist/child abuser gets off scott-free? Gabriel Agreste gets what he wanted and dies happy and content while leaving behind a favorable legacy? What the fuck?
So yeah. I feel bad for the abused children who are watching this show, who are being told that their abuse doesn't matter, that they are just being overly sensitive/are evil inside, and only deserve more abuse. What a wonderfully horrible message.
Thank you for your ask!

Talking a little about MazM. Again.
You know, Erik's and The Persian's relantionship is probably the best thing about MazM adaptation. I've seen people criticizing it but honestly i have nothing to complain about it, considering how much frustrated i am with Erik's and Christine's relantionship. They were supposed to be: a very qualified teacher that is in love with his young student who eventually becomes his protegé. And, don't get me wrong, it's not like their relationship was healthy in the novel, after Erik was jeaously and Christine herself didn't show much comprehension when he needed (not counting his disguise as angel). But they were not enemies; it was totally the opposite. They had their flaws, but Erik NEVER forced himself physically against her and neither threatened her safety, the same way she never slapped him or yelled at him/mocked about his tragic past. Sometimes people forget this is a story about forgiveness, and not "uwu evil monster that kidnaps innocent girl". Aside that Christine HAD affection and fondness for Erik despiting her fears.
But MazM decided to turn Erik into a selfish ass-showing groomer abusive jerk whose 10 lines, 9 are threats against Christine and other random people. And for some reason they tried to "fix Christine's character" like if she was "weak" originally... because you know, being strong is being rude, antipathic and using your toxic teacher's abuse traumas as a weapon. Lol. Leroux Christine was strong and enough, no need to make her "dumb girl who helps everyone except herself and then **suddenly** becomes girlboss and kicks Erik's ass".
But this is not about Erik and Christine. Well, no fully. I just wanted to talk about Hatim (Daroga/The Persian) and Erik. These two little gay men.
The original novel never explained how they met and how/why Erik chose his name, but Mazm made a *perfect* retcom that fits completely with the characters they were supposed to represent. Daroga found Erik in the freakshow, he took Erik out of there and he named him. Daroga watched over him and stood by his side during his whole life, he was basically Erik's angel and saviour. In MazM, we have no India and no Little Sultana, Erik's worst abuse experience is replaced by the Sultan of Persian. This king was a sadistic psychopath pervert that loved to torture animals, people and specially Erik.
This situation is pretty, pretty awful. Erik was very, very, VERY young. When Daroga "adopted" him, he wasn't even at his 20. Erik was a young, traumatized and lonely boy who had no one else but Daroga to trust. The game let it clear that none of the people from the palace actually saw Erik as a person, no one cared for him, he was invisible. A young, traumatized, enslaved and invisible boy who was being horribly abused by a sick, violent, much older man (His Majesty). This scenario is extremely important to build both Hatim/Daroga and Erik as characters.
Erik was an orphan, and Hatim was the first person to ever show him kindness. The game also let it clear that Erik loved him as a father, he wanted a loving father instead of the cruel cunt that sold him to the freakshow. Erik needed a father figure. But what he got was more and more abuses from the Shah, and Hatim himself admitted he didn't actually replace Erik's father. Or, at least, he never admitted, with all words, that he loved Erik and cared for him. Sure, his actions showed that he was a person Erik could trust, but they never had a confirmation of their own feelings. Ther limit is calling each other 'old friend'. Erik is needy, traumatized, heartbroken and mentally/emotionally unstable, and his doubt over Hatim's fatherly love marked him a lot despite their fondness for each other.
And why Hatim never confessed or officially adopted Erik? Hear me out, if you actually played the game, you will certainly understand what I am saying. Daroga is gay, and he is in love with Erik.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Do I need to say more? Daroga was afraid of losing Erik during most of the chapters. He didn't teach Erik the difference between "good and bad" because he was afraid of losing him. He didn't reveal his identidy even after he kidnapped Christine, he is constantly trying to see a vulnerable side of his friend and all to have him on his hands. Toxic behaviour? Yes, but it does reveal that Daroga has much deeper feelings for Erik, but the fear of losing his friend and facing his own mistakes, his own feelings, his own faults, it's greater. Daroga is a conflicted man. Look at this line here.
Tumblr media
Why does he feel that he is "walking further into to hell" because of Erik? What sins he confessed to god, sins caused by his connection with Erik? Daroga lives in a society that will never accept him as the way he is: he is a dark-skinned persian man that finds himself in love with another man. A man that comitted crimes, even if they were unintentional. All of this conflict explains many of Daroga's actions, such as keeping Erik unaware of his wrongs and manipulating him with the PTSD issue. It doesn't justify, of course, but it explains.
What sucks about all of this is the villainization of Daroga. Yes, he wronged a lot, but he shouldn't be considered responsible for "turning Erik evil". Erik was abused and unloved, who should be blamed for all the mess are his abusers. They fucked him up. He was a fragile, victimized, lonely boy and the world fucked his ass mercilessly. Instead of wasting time on blaming Daroga and trying to portray Raoul as a wise, conscient person (something he clearly isn't), the game should have worked more on how both Hatim and Erik feel about this whole situation. Like, other characters trying to tell how they should feel and act... doesn't work. We can't know too much about what the fuck is happening inside of Erik's head either, another way to bestializate and villainize him. Shit. But, taking from what he have in the game, my conclusion is:
Daroga and Erik were each other's hope, they clearly loved each other. Maybe in different ways, but still, they loved each other. But they were conflicted men, in a conflicted scenario, and they couldn't face their own pain, their own mistakes, and couldn't help each other. The ending was their CHANCE to be happy with each other, but Mazm chose the "suicide vangloriation" choice to give Erik an undeserved cruel doom. Yeah.
Good that we have FANFIC WRITERS TO SAVE THE DAY, HUH? But really, i love their relantionship in the game and i'm kinda upset they didn't have the courage to admit Daroga was gay.

What do you think of Adrien redemption fics, and would you ever write one?
Wow I kind of spun out on a tangent so here's the teal deer and you can read the full word vomit under the cut:
More power to the writers who enjoy such things, but personally I'm just not interested at this point, so unless it's a side plot of a Lukanette story, I wouldn't seek one out to read, nor would I write one myself. The closest I really have is Something Just Like This, where all three characters work things out not always amicably, which I tend to think of as a prequel to All in the Family, where Adrien becomes the most welcome third wheel in history. At this point in time though, I'm just tired of Adrien and all the drama, canon and fandom, that comes along with him, and I don't care enough to put the effort in.
Since I've said it in the discord I might as well say it here--if I ran the world, I would have had Adrien take all his sad about being left out in Season 4, and decide he's going to be such a good hero that LB won't need anyone else, and he'd go off to get Su Han to teach him Mirakung Fu or whatever it is and actually step up to help LB and prove he can be the partner she needs--and maybe learn along the way that it's okay not to be LB's everything and that relying on other people is actually a good thing, he doesn't have to be perfect to be important. (That plot is free to anyone who wants to use it, feel free, drop me a link so I can see what you do with it.)
Now that I've written the longest run on sentence ever, here's the actually wordy stuff under the cut. 😂
I don't think Adrien's irredeemable, in fact I don't even think he'd be all that hard to redeem, but...let me think how can I put this, because I don't want to be like love square/Adrien stans are evil because they are not. They're just people who like something different than I like and that's totally okay. Ship and let ship.
But there are a vocal number that are, shall we say, annoying. Because of that it becomes a bit of a pain to write anything because you're always going to get comments trying to argue with you (spoiler alert: I'm not looking to convince anybody nor do I care that people on the internet think I'm wrong, so I don't debate in the comments) or that sound snobby and judgey. In the past I did write Adrien into several fics and I always got weird comments on them, and the nicest ones were along the lines of, "I'm glad you don't make Adrien a complete jerk like a lot of Lukanette writers." That's not horrible, but it's also not super encouraging. Thanks, I guess? I stopped getting those comments nearer the end too so maybe people changed their mind as the story went on. 😂 (Which is fine! A very sincere thank you to anyone who quietly stopped reading and didn't leave me anything to let me know. Totally fair.)
Honestly I had similar problems with the one true salt fic I started, where a lot of the comments were just griping about the series without actually addressing my story at all, and that's kind of a bummer for me (if anyone reading this left a comment of this type please don't feel bad, I'm not saying this to guilt you, this is all about my personal preferences as a writer and none of you are mind readers).
There are a lot of things I don't like about the series, and some that occasionally make me confused or angry enough to rant about it a little bit here or on discord. At the same time, reading constant ragging and complaining about the series just depresses me. So many salt discussions spiral into this dead end of "it's such a waste what they've done and everything is awful," and there's no where to go from there. It's not going to change, and there's nothing we can do about it, and I don't like ending up at the bottom of the pit. I do this for fun and I'd rather focus on the things I like. I will be finishing Live With It, but clearly salt just doesn't make me happy, so it's not going to become my niche anytime soon.
So ultimately my reasoning boils down to, it wouldn't be fun for me, I don't think there's a huge audience out there desperately wishing I would write one, and life's too short to read or write fic that bores you. Adrien will be just fine without me.

Rodimus for the Bingo
IDW Rodimus:
Tumblr media
The only character I hate more than Drift, but unlike Drift (who I mostly hate for meta reasons like being boring, Mary Sue-ish, and other personal things), I actually hate Rodimus due to specific things he did in the story and how those were never really addressed at all XD
(Copious Rodimus hate under the cut, if he's your comfort character and you're sensitive about him then definitely don't read.)
Maybe hate is a strong word? I don't have like, a burning hatred for him like he's evil and horrible and should just die. I hate him like... I want to beat him up and steal his lunch money. I want to bully him until he cries and then laugh at him. I want to marry Optimus just so that I can give him mommy issues to match his daddy issues. I want that twink obliterated.
Like it's just so fucking funny to me because the IDW fandom in general is like "haha Rodimus is a funny himbo twink that's silly and stupid" but then I read his story and THE WAY PEOPLE TALK ABOUT HIM DIDN'T WARN ME that Rodimus does shit like be jealous of anyone who's more popular/well liked than him (literally being happy Thunderclash is dying), tell Chromedome to perform mnemosurgery on an unconscious person without their consent (imagine having fewer moral scruples than fucking MEGATRON) despite the fact that it was killing Chromedome AND Rewind didn't want Chromedome to risk his health, imprisoning Getaway under absolutely horrific conditions that not even mechs like Overlord had to suffer... Using Rung as living bait was kind of sus too even though Rodimus never intended for Rung to actually be harmed. Oh also when Overlord escaped the Lost Light, Rodimus seemed more butthurt about how HE didn't get to be the heroic one saving the ship than he was about respecting the lost lives of the people killed during his escape. Imagine being so egotistical that you're more concerned about yourself during a period of mourning than you are the crew members you're responsible for.
Oh, and on top of that he's inattentive, lazy, can't keep up with the basic logistical responsibilities of running a ship, and doesn't respect his officers (mostly Magnus). Not only is he a POS insecure little brat, he can't even handle the basic responsibilities that come with leadership. He can't even listen to Roller complaining to him about Chromedome/Rewind violating his bodily integrity without being completely apathetic and literally saying he doesn't care. BEING A LEADER MEANS LISTENING TO PEOPLE'S COMPLAINTS AND RESOLVING PERSONAL DISPUTES AND ACTING AS IF YOU CARE EVEN IF YOU'RE TIRED AND DON'T WANT TO DEAL WITH IT. Rodimus wants all of the glory of being a leadership without wanting the burdens and responsibilities that come with it, whether they're large or small, and as someone who has had a couple leadership positions in my life that frankly disgusts me lmao. He's a manchild who wants to stay in the kitchen but can't take the heat and gets mad when other people are more liked than him. Because people like Thunderclash and Optimus are actually smart, talented, charismatic, heroic, and responsible, while he's just a little brat who's lead around life by his own tender, easily bruised ego. Lol. Lmao.
No wonder half the ship fucking mutinied. Rodimus is like the worst captain ever and LITERALLY THE ONLY REASON HE WASN'T REMEMBERED AS A SHIT CAPTAIN is because Getaway was an even more garbage piece of shit captain (which I've already made multiple posts regarding how I think Getaway was massively wasted as a character).
Rodimus is just a fucking awful person hiding under a cheerful facade. He's a little bitch and I want to yeet him into a horse plinko. He's a sad, strange little man, and he has my pity.

NO TITLE 2/23/23 the planets were perfectly lined up with the moon-perfect. I went out to see them again and clouds. today i heard someone whisper my name-right in my ear. is that crazy or what? i heard it-clear as anything... and i heard it again 2x today- the 2nd time it wasnt a whisper- i asked my coworker if she heard someone say my name- nope. meeting meetings and more meetings- the people on my team are like children. it's very odd - they all seem to need a lot of attention. except one- she's new and reminds me of me.
I saw Kika tonight- she was just exhausted. i tried my best not to complain while working out- i stopped myself- BECAUSE--- it's a privilege to work out- my body is able. how fortunate am I??? but GOD is it hard. lower body hard but i can make myself do it. it's not like that with my upper body.. i just get to a point where i just can't-its physical yes but also mental. I'm making progress 90x4- so maybe next week i'll do 5. my arms started to hurt half way through. the work out- tomorrow i will be sore.
Work is good- i seriously did not think i was going to make it. things are starting to come together. since they cut OT lots of people are upset. A coworker i'm friendly with approached me and said she's thinking about leaving because she needs the OT. she also said something to me that i've thought for a long time- the job gives her a ick feeling. she went on to say how it breaks her heart how we basically rip people off- and we have to convince them it's worth it. I got what she was saying. I've felt like that for a long time. I've come to understand my company is a necessary evil- people need what we have- we sell them on peace of mind- they spend thousands more than they need to because we sell them the security of having someone there 24/7-- people fear what they don't understand. I've talked to so many people who think oil can just blow up. BUT good luck finding a company you can feel good about- she said she was going to look into Amazon- HA - all those trucks on the road and there carbon emissions- Amazon has a huge ick factor. the bottom line is money-
I had another coworker come to my desk and tell me all the ways her alcoholic husband abuses her. Not the 1st time ive heard this. the 1st time we were in the lunchroom and she was going on and on about how awful he is and i said well, maybe you'll get lucky and he'll drip dead-die.. everyone got real quiet- this time i had a little more empathy for HER- she was telling me the horrible things he says to her- X use to say the same things to me- i told her i was sorry and she didn't deserve to be talked to that way. not only is he an alcoholic but he doesnt really work either- part time wal mart- 32 years she's put up with him. she threatens him with her leaving- i doubt she'll ever leave- i'm sure her life would be so much easier without him. why do we people do that to ourselves? invest so much fucking time into someone and something that ultimately drags us down? we fear what we don't know-right? Fear makes us do a lot of things and also prevents us from doing a lot of things. Be scared and do it anyway. James says i need to branch out and do to a different park-i'm scared i'll get lost- do it scared. do it anyway-

Can I request a Sero x reader/Bakusquad x reader who is dealing with a panic attack after Class 1A deals with yet another villain. Also no rush and I absolutely love your writing!
Aw, thank you so so much! I love being able to write for you! I also love all the love Sero gets on this blog, I’m not sure I do his character justice but damn we love to see it. No warnings on this one, just some sweet comfort and fluff. Hope you enjoy!
The sound of blaring sirens pierced through the night sky, dark and cold save for the flashing red lights that illuminated the students of class 1A. They sat huddled close together, blankets pulled tightly around their shoulders in attempts to bring them some semblance of comfort. It seemed as if your class was a target for misfortune, like the group of students were always in the wrong place at the wrong time. If you were being honest with yourself, the fear of the evil lurking around the corner at any given moment was really starting to get to you. You all somehow managed to escape each attack relatively unscathed, except for a few cuts and bruises that would heal in time, but you were still shaken to your core every time and couldn’t find the strength to keep it down any longer. You’re not quite sure when you started crying, letting the salty tears soak down your blood stained cheeks, but you didn’t even attempt to quell them. You let them consume you, wracking your body with sobs in hopes that it would bring you some solace. Instead you felt your body tremble, your stomach churning with all of the fear that you had kept down for far too long. You slapped your hand over your mouth as you whimpered out involuntarily, in hopes that no one would shift their attention to you.
That hope was shattered almost immediately though as the tall black haired boy who sat next to you straightened his back at attention. He had heard you take in a sharp breath, and upon locking eyes with your form he found his heart dropping in his chest like it was attached to a ton of weights; sinking to the bottom of a treacherous sea with ease. Hanta Sero has had a crush on you for some time now. There was just something about you he found so enticing, like a magnetic force was constantly surrounding you and pulling him in every time he wandered too close. You were best friends, constantly sharing laughs and inside jokes in the hallways at school, or having deep conversations late at night in the dorm common rooms. He cared about you so deeply, and seeing you like this; covered in your own tears and blood and shaking in fear, made him sick to his stomach. He was quick to act, his large hand reaching out for the small of your back to lend you consolation, but when you jumped back from him he quickly pulled away and put his hands up in the most non threatening way he could muster. You hadn’t meant to react like that to Sero’s touch, in fact, you craved his warmth more than ever right now. You wanted nothing more than to be engulfed by his comforting embrace as he whispered his latest horrible joke into your ear- managing to pull a laugh from your salty and cracked lips, but your body was on high alert after tonight. Luckily, Sero understood completely.
“Hey, it’s okay! It’s just me.” He reassured, his hands still up in the air in attempts to show you he meant no harm. He offered a sweet smile, despite feeling that same fear that overtook you, and you felt your body relax ever so slightly. You sniffled, wiping at your eyes with the sleeves of your sweatshirt as the tears continued to spill like rushing waterfalls.
“I’m sorry, I don’t know what’s wrong with me.” you choked out, voice barely audible among the commotion that surrounded the two of you, but Sero heard you clear as day. He could see everything he needed to know written in your pinched expression. You were petrified, and he was going to do everything in his power to make you feel better.
“Woah, hey! don’t apologize!” Sero started, cautiously moving his hands down in front of him and reaching out for one of your hands, trying his best to read your expressions as he did so. You didn’t pull away and he delicately wrapped his large hand in your smaller one, his thumb rubbing comforting circles atop your soft skin. He felt his cheeks heat up as he realized he’s never really touched you this intimately before. He tried his best to shake the sensation, and was thankful for the dark night sky for hiding the flush that consumed his features.
“Nothings wrong with you, y/n! I think we’re all a bit shaken up after that and it’s totally normal to be upset.”
The remnants of the dam that you had been holding up broke at Sero’s words, and suddenly you were sobbing uncontrollably and throwing yourself into his arms. The choked noises of anguish gained the attention of some classmates nearby, but you didn’t notice, nor care. You were lost in your own thoughts, in the fear of what could have happened, and the only thing keeping you grounded was Seros arms wrapping tightly around your torso and pulling you in against his chest. He brought the comforting circular motions to your back in efforts to soothe you while he rested his chin comfortably on the top of your head. If you were a bit more aware of your surroundings, perhaps you’d have noticed the way Sero’s heartbeat ran rampant in his chest, or the way his hands got clammy with nerves on your low back, but instead your mind lulled it out.
It was Kaminari’s voice that permeated the air first, though you kept your head situated in Sero’s chest, finding refuge in his closeness.
“Oh man, are they okay?” Kaminari stood awkwardly in front of the two of you, pulling his blanket snuggly over his shoulders to keep it from falling to the ground. Sero’s only response was to pull you in tighter and shake his head. Kaminari sighed out, his voice wavering as if he had just gotten over crying himself. You couldn’t help but look up from the confines of Sero’s chest just a bit, eyebrows pinched up in curiosity.
“Mind if I join you guys? Mineta isn’t exactly the best company in a time like this.” He tried to keep his voice light and playful, shooting your newly emerged face a warm smile. Kaminari didn’t wait for a response, however; instead picking the unoccupied spot next to you and squeezing in tight, enjoying the comfort the closeness brought him.
“Mineta is never good company, Bro. He’s a little scumbag” Sero quipped, sending a smile the electric boy's way. Kaminari chuckled, shrugging defeatedly.
“Hey! he can be funny sometimes!”
“I think that makes you a little scumbag too, dude. ”
You felt your throat stutter as you let out a breathy laugh. It came out choked and water logged, but it was a sweet little laugh nonetheless. Both of their expressions lit up, looking at each other before moving their eyes down to you, shocked by the sweet sound escaping your lips. Sero smiled widely, pulling you in just a bit tighter as he felt your shoulders get lighter. These boys always knew how to pull it out of you, and despite the fear still bubbling deep inside, their playful banter had you feeling kind of normal again.
“Woah, hey! Why didn’t we get an invite to the “we almost died but we didn’t and we still kickin it somehow” snuggle fest? Move over! I need some!” Minas voice was perky per usual, but even you could detect the hints of worry laced between each syllable. She was just able to use her personality to hide it well, something you had never been more envious of than right now. You straightened your back, pulling away from Sero to get a better view of the rest of your friends approaching. You tried your best to wipe your face free of any remnants of your breakdown, though seemingly impossible with the current state you were in. Mina was pulling Kirishima along behind her by the hand, keeping him close for comfort reasons you figured, and a certain scowling blonde wasn’t too far behind. It was as if he was tethered to the redhead, following against his will and dissatisfied with his new change of scenery, yet he continued to follow with a pout and his arms crossed heavily over his chest. After knowing bakugou for so long, though. His demeanor didn’t shake you, nor did his booming tone as he spoke up above the noise.
“The hell you all whining for? Some hero’s you are for being afraid of some lowlife discount villains that couldn’t even kill a bunch of high schoolers!” Kirishima nudged Bakugou hard, causing him to shoot the red haired boy an evil glare. It didn’t shake Kirishima though, he just shook his head at his blonde best friend.
“Read the room, Bakubro. We’re all kinda messed up about it. Even the manliest people get scared sometimes, you should know. ” Bakugou clicked his tongue in frustration, dropping onto the ground with a thud and pulling his knee up to rest his arm on it.
“I’d never be scared by some shitty ass villains and neither should you! They didn’t stand a chance against us! You’re all alive so stop complaining” Bakugou had locked eyes with you, and deep down you knew this was his makeshift way of trying to cheer you up. His way to remind you how strong you were, despite the tears and snot that ran down your face. You nodded softly to him, a faint smile ghosting your lips, and he quickly averted his gaze to anywhere but you. Mumbling something under his breath that you couldn’t quite make out but appreciated nonetheless. You watched Kirishima take a spot of the ground near Kaminari, and Mina dropped to her knees in front of you, her eyes welling with the same tears that plagued yours. Her smile was gentle, caring, and it made you feel safe. Safe despite everything that had happened to all of you just a few hours earlier. In fact, just being surrounded by your friends filled you with a sense of comfort that you didn’t expect yourself to find. You weren’t sure if it was simply their presence, or if it was the puffy eyes and wordless smiles of understanding that laid hidden on their expressions.
“You alright, baby?” Mina asked, her soft and well manicured hands coming to rest on your soaked cheeks. And despite it all, you nodded. The tiny smile still ever present on your face. Because for the first time tonight, you were reminded that no matter how hard things get, no matter how many villains tried to tear you down, you would always have your friends to pick you back up- to put a smile on your face with ease when you felt just minutes prior that you may never smile again. You could never thank them enough.
“Yeah, I will be.”

What buffles me about the popularity of Madeline Miller's book is how shallow her characters are. Achilles and Circe have no true, unlikable flaws (they're "timid" and "angry" at worst, when the others are rapists) while everyone else is made comically evil because Miller is too poor of an author to create compelling characters that are loved and appreciated for their complexity, she resorts to vilify the heck out of everyone else so that Achilles and Circe have no "competition". Oh and she made Patroclus from an absolute beast to a simp whose greatest ambition is to be Achilles's housewife. Circe's cruelty is made into yass queen moments, and we are subjected to pages of entirely self-unaware Circe complaining about cruel gods while she is a cruel god. It's like a white person bitching about white people, trying to distant themselves like this doesn't include them too
Honestly though, the black and whiteness of her stories is one of their biggest downfalls to me, especially when your subject is Greek mythology lol? Either everyone needs to be equally terrible or you need to give due diligence with making everyone properly nuanced IMO. I’ll never forgive her for speed running Iphigenia’s sacrifice in this regard; bizarre choice when there’s some great Achilles’ characterization to be had there, but oh no can’t throw any complexity on ach/pats pure gay uwu love by even suggesting he might feel something for a Girl, yuckie [see: deidamia chapter]. This passage was particularly unforgivable for like 10 different reasons:
Tumblr media
(Canon patroclus deserves better than this and nothing like some modern day monogamy concepts in my ancient greek fiction. I also love the idea of Achilles saying No to this very common sort of arrangement because his bf was jealous, would love to see how that one went over)
Her then writing Agamemnon being like ‘well that happened’ after Iph dies in less than a page and holding a celebration for the army the same night, lol. Truly gotta cement that this man is The Villain (compare this to Iphigenia 1977 where we can imply he feels embittered and resentful towards the army who immediately begin to celebrate. Heck, even messier modern adaptations like Helen 2003 or TFOAC at least Somewhat understood the assignment and depicted him as genuinely conflicted and remorseful). Like I get Achilles is your focus, you don’t have to develop everyone equally, but at least pretend you’re not incredibly biased/making your story as easily digestible as possible. I just often find myself imagining how different the ‘mainstream’ side of the fandom would be if she hadn’t turned half the characters into mischaracterized tropes just to further sell the ach/pat drama (I won’t even get into thetis' or pyrrhus’ horrible characterization bc enough ppl have already lol).
As for Circe, I only read the first 50 pages or so thoroughly. I was instantly tripped up by what you mention, the same style as before lol. All the male gods are so mean and awful, especially to me :( men amirite?? I’m not fishing here for a certain kind of target audience at all. It was so blatant it immediately put me off. I just skimmed the rest and remember being disgusted by her legit trying to sell circe/telemachus afair. Ultimately if this was OC fiction I wouldn’t care or comment on any of it, would take it as ‘you do you’. But these are preestablished characters we tell shared stories about, and while I think they should definitely still be open to individual interpretation, I do think you should at least like… Stick to at least some of their commonly established traits seen in their original stories? It also wouldn’t be so bad if her writing hadn’t become THE mainstream “canon” though, but because it has I will never pass up an opportunity to complain about it, lmfao

What about some headcanons about how the non-Riders (Kyle, Reverto, Lilia) would feel about/react to overhearing anti-Rider sentiments constantly around Lulucion from other Hunters and Scriveners like how Riders are dangerous and can't be trusted because them tame monsters. Riders are becoming more accepted in the world but I bet not everyone is ready to accept them in society.
Sure!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Non-Riders (Kyle, Reverto, and Lilia) React to Anti-Rider Sentiments
Kyle
-Kyle's respect for hunters decreased dramatically after what happened at Lamure Tower. That said, he can't change what he is. However, he hears a lot of anti-rider crap from his brothers. They still don't understand what you're all about, and even listen to some of the senior hunters talk negative about you.
-He would be furious upon hearing such awful things. How you could turn dangerous because you tame monsters. What makes all riders good? Some could become evil. However, Kyle has seen firsthand what riders can do and whole heartedly believes in your kinship. He tries to defend you, but his words fall on deaf ears.
-Sometimes he tells you about this. You don't seem to mind probably because you expected no less from some hunters. In fact, you have to calm Kyle down because he is more furious about this than you are. After the whole Oltura thing, he respects riders immensely.
Reverto
-Reverto’s worked with a rider before, so he understands how powerful you guys are. Big hunter towns, like Lulucion, are known for their prejudice against riders. Reverto can understand their concerns. I mean, being able to tame a monster could lead to some damaging affects if power goes to one’s head.
-The hunter would learn to keep his mouth shut around these types of people. If they don’t wanna vibe with the likes of people like you, then that’s their deal. However, that doesn’t mean he will let it slide. Reverto has had his instances where he’s wanted to slit the throats of some of those hunters because of the awful stuff they’ve said.
-He never tells you about it because you probably already know to be honest. Reverto has had to listen to this crap for years and he’s not going to start complaining now. However, sometimes he and Lilia would talk about the ignorance of these people.
Lilia
-Lilia came from a rider village, so she knows firsthand what they are like. Her best friends are riders for crying out loud. It wasn’t just the hunters who were saying horrible things, but also her fellow Guild members. They were saying how, if you wanted to, could’ve used Razewing Ratha’s power to cause chaos instead of bringing peace.
-She was shocked to hear her colleagues saying such things, especially around her of all people. Of course, Lilia would berate them for their behavior, and they would get all sheepish. She knew she was biased based on where she grew up, but she was not going to allow others to be saying such things when she knows it isn’t true.
-Lilia wouldn’t voice this to you either. You were just a kid with enough on your plate. Plus, she already kind of accused you of the same thoughts her colleagues had. However, she would rant to Reverto.

Prompt: Mermaid AU?
Modern AU
It all started when some asshole suggested that the next academic conference be held in Qinghe.
Not the place, of course - that’s landlocked - but rather the school that bears the name.
Now, Jiang Cheng has nothing against Qinghe, even if it is some sort of weird isolated mountainous island in the middle of the ocean. It’d be pretty hypocritical of him to complain about somewhere having too much ocean – after all, they’re all marine biologists here, and Qinghe’s one of the top five schools for it.
Top four, he supposed, after the whole scandal about the Wen school faking a bunch of results and bribing government officials and all that stuff. There isn’t really a fifth school that can come anywhere near the rest of them at the moment.
But still, Qinghe is weird, even for marine biology freaks and geeks like them. Jiang Cheng’s part of the Yunmeng school, located right on a big river delta leading out into the ocean (their name at least made sense, even if it’s not the same river as the original); they specialize in marine life on the sea floor and coastal regions, by and large, except for weirdos like Wei Wuxian. He’s writing his thesis about the sort of marine life you can find in the bottom of a gigantic deep-sea crevice not-so-fondly nicknamed “the Burial Mounds” based on the number of ships that went down around there. It’s still within the super wide category of marine life, though, so it’s fine – no restrictions.
Attempt the impossible, his father – and school head – is always saying.
Or take the Gusu school, run by the Lan family. It’s focused on preservation and restoration – they’re on an island, too, but a pretty big one; they use the tourism to help fund their efforts to fix up the coral reef in the area, and they’ve been doing wonders with it. Lots of scholarly options there.
Even the Lanling school, located in a nice coastal city and furthest inland of them all, allows there to be some variety in scholarship, and everyone knows they’re funded by the commercial fisheries that the Jin family also owns. People go there for the scholarships, and they’ve poached away enough good teachers that they’re considered one of the top schools, but, you know. Everyone knows.
(Jiang Cheng’s heard it smells of carp there, all the time. He really wishes his sister would stop dating the son and presumptive heir of the business, Jin Zixuan, but if smelling of carp day in and day out isn’t enough, if living in a place named – for real – Koi Tower isn’t enough, he’s got to assume it’s true love.)
And then there’s Qinghe.
Qinghe, run by the secretive Nie family with their super-selective admittance criteria and even more secretive customs and unbelievably beautiful academic papers that sometimes make Jiang Cheng want to cry over how much brand new information they put in their charts.
Qinghe’s different.
See, Qinghe does sharks.
That’s it.
Just sharks.
Oh, they do a wide variety of things about sharks, but still – sharks. It’s a pretty specialized niche for a school that must have tech beyond Jiang Cheng’s wildest dreams to get some of the data they put in their papers.
Maybe that’s why they all have bodyguards, too. There’s virtually one for every Nie, and even the people who aren’t born to the island eventually acquire one if they stay long enough – men and women with no discernable pattern: big and small, fat and skinny, a dizzying array of ethnicities. The only thing the bodyguards seem to have in common is their dark clothing and the fact that they don’t ever talk.
They’re not always there, but – often enough. The Nies just ignore them, for the most part, and even Nie Huaisang, who is easily the most sociable of the lot, just shrugged when they asked about his during one of the rare times when the guy wasn’t around.
“His name’s Aituan,” he said vaguely, but that was about it. Which didn’t really help – who cared about their names? If you wanted to ask about one bodyguard in particular, why not ask about the most notable of the lot - but who didn’t know that Nie Mingjue, his brother and school head and giant, had a somehow even taller woman named Baxia as his bodyguard? Who didn’t know she could punch through a brick wall, as demonstrated shortly after Jin Guangshan had tried to hit on her during one of the academic conferences held by Lanling?
What they wanted to know was why they were there. After all, they were all marine biologists. What in the world did Qinghe have that they were so intent on protecting?
Sharks?
The answer, as Jiang Cheng would soon learn after a truly mind-blowing few weeks trapped on an island without any connection to the outside world due to a fairly awful set of unexpected crises, was, in fact, sharks.
Giant supposedly extinct sharks that had lived for centuries and had even developed the ability to shift into human and half-human forms for their own purposes, who adopted specific humans that they liked to follow around, who apparently spent a lot of time fighting something horribly evil that lived very deep down in crevasses the human world didn’t even know existed.
Except Qinghe, apparently.
“So I’m going to move to Qinghe to fight the kaiju,” Wei Wuxian announced.
“They’re not kaiju,” Nie Huaisang said, wringing his hands. “That’s not exactly accurate –”
“No, no, it’s too late to dissuade me. I’m set on it. Jiang Cheng, are you with me?”
“You bet,” Jiang Cheng said. “Hey, Nie Huaisang, do you think if I asked really nicely, your brother will let me ride his megalodon again?”
“Yeah, Baxia doesn’t mind giving people rides,” Nie Huaisang said. “But –”
“I’m with Nie Huaisang,” Wei Wuxian said, wrapping his arm around him. “I like his xenacanthus just fine.”
“Won’t your schools object…?”
“We’ll call it study abroad,” Jiang Cheng said. “Sign us up for the sharks!”

my twt timeline discussing c!Tommy's mental health: ''he's been through so much trauma omg'' ''he is obviously struggling and needs therapy'' ''I can't believe Ranboo raised his voice at him omfg'' ''you can hear how traumatised he is'' ''its understandable that he lashes out, he has been through a lot''
my twt timeline discussing c!Wilbur's mental health: ''ew he's even more crazy now'' ''I can see he's already back to be being manipulative'' ''why is he complaining about how he felt in pogtopia, does he not know how bad he makes people feel?'' ''listen to how crazy he sounds''
like, I don't know if It's just because I sympathise more with Wilbur due to my own mental health struggles being similar to those his character portrayed (paranoia and depression) but I really don't like the way some people are talking about the Wilbur now that he is back. They always seem to go so easy on characters with more acceptable mental health struggles than those with the messy ones. this is gonna be a long one btw.
first of all, stop calling characters with mentally illnesses that you can't romanticise crazy and insane. Just stop it.
also, it's fully possible to unknowingly manipulate someone or to say something manipulative without meaning to be, especially when you suffer from mental health issues such as paranoia. Still harmful but the distinction should be made.
Anyways , l want to make two things clear:
Wilbur soot is undeniably a villain in the story at this time. I think he is definitely a tragic character and nowhere near as bad as some people make out but he has still done some absolutely awful things.
Tommy has most certainly got trauma and mental health issues of his own that should definitely be discussed by the fandom. and he has undeniably got massive amounts of trauma as a result of Wilbur's actions.
However, I do think a lot of these people that are trying to highlight and sympathise with tommy's trauma completely erase all complexity and depth to Wilbur's character and reduce him to ''evil crazy dude'' and often erase Wilbur's own trauma in order to further vilify him.
Wilbur did cause a lot of harm and trauma but he also has his own trauma that shouldn't just be erased because he is a villain. He very obviously suffered from extreme paranoia and straight up yelled about how he wanted to die during the time of the pogtopia arc. A lot of his so called manipulative actions are done more out of fear and paranoia than him wanting to cause harm to people. They still harmed plenty of people but it wasn't just will being a horrible person.
He literally straight up said that pogtopia was the worst point in his life and that he was extremely suicidal but people are completely ignoring that and talking about how he hurt other people during this time. Lots of people seem to have the view that he can't complain about he felt during that time because he was harming others during that time but I think it should be viewed more as an explanation for his actions. Wilbur got to a point that he was so depressed and so paranoid that he started to believe everyone was against him, that he could trust no one, that everything good was gone and started to hurt others as a result of this. He wasn't really in touch with reality. He wasn't really hurting these people on purpose but he saw no other way to get out of the hell he was living. Maybe he didn't even really know the pain he caused. I certainly don't think he is to blame for everyone's trauma like tommy said he was, though I fully understand tommy's viewpoint and greatly sympathise with him.
And the fact that people have literally just heard Wilbur talk about him being suicidal and then immediately gone to Twitter to talk about how they want all the characters to tell him how he’s such an evil person really says a lot.
Wilbur needed help. Wilbur still needs help.
Wilbur has done some bad things but he isn't evil. He's just ill.
If you watch the earlier streams back, you can see that Wilbur is a good man that slowly got sicker and sicker as time went on.
He is not really an evil character, he's a tragic one.

https://worldface.uk/season-2-of-bridgerton-has-a-big-problem-with-penelope/
I know that Penelope is a beloved character in the bridgerton series, but in the article, the author points out how the show bumbled her story to almost make her unlikable. I used to like Penelope and now Im not a big fan. I thought this article pointed out a real big issue with Penelope's character in that she refuses to be seen as nothing but a victim and her OWN actions make her look as bad as her evil family. Most people will defend her, but I thought Penelope's actions were awful and made her a horrible person. There are many people who say that because she is a teenager she handles the situations like Mariana poorly because well she is being backed into a corner and she is a teenager and she did try to tell Colin, but he ignored her so then the next logical step is to post it on a gossip phamplet for EVERYONE to see....like I'm seriously confused how she is not considered a villian?!? I am definitely not ready for S3 to be all about Penelope and Colin because I feel like their story is so weak and filmsy. I hope that S3 is about Benedict and Sophie, but Shondaland has said that they won't be following the books and with the whole issue with Penelope fighting with Eloise and her overhearing Colin's remarks, I am so worried that is the next storyline... I mean I struggle to like Eloise most of the time and find her selfish and always complaining, but to be honest I find her less deplorable than Penelope. But I definitely think Shondaland is going to have an interesting time trying to find a way in the upcoming season to give Penelope's redemption arch and make Lady Whistledown less deplorable..so I guess we'll see.
This sat in the inbox for a bit and I'm so sorry! But this is a great article anon, thanks for shooting it my way! They make so many great points about Penelope as LW and I have ALWAYS said that revealing pen as LW in the first season was a HUGE mistake.
How on earth are people justifying Penelope's actions, simply because she was a teenager? I don't care how old you are, shitty actions are shitty actions. Also Penelope wasn't some little 13 year old (still would be bad), she was 17 in s1 and 18 in s2. She's more than capable of knowing right from wrong. If Penelope had at the very least felt some sort of remorse for what she did to Marina and spent season 2 trying to make amends or something, she would be easier to stomach as a character. But she didn't. She felt literally no remorse at all.
She only felt bad when Colin brought up to her that perhaps LW shouldn't have done that to Marina. She has absolutely no moral compass and does whatever she wants (usually in regards to what she thinks will "help" Colin) and does not care who it hurts.
In the book, I would say that pen/LW served as an antagonist or even just as a plot device to move stories along. Show!pen/LW is an actual villain and I will literally not listen to anyone who says otherwise. Supporting Pen is straight up red flag.
s3 will absolutely suffer with underdeveloped leads, Colin being a side character in his own romance, and Pen still never getting any consequences for her own actions. Eloise went straight up to my top 5 faves for the way she put Pen in her place. It was glorious and I would like for her to do it again because apparently Pen did not learn her lesson.

I wanna complain about how the ninja treated Zane in the first few episodes real quick. Specifically in Home. Since I have some beef with the ninja.
.
.
So remember that one time Zane froze the entire monastery without effort? Yeah, that was kinda cool,
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now I begin to get angry, You’ve been warned--
Tumblr media
And the ninja, understandably, were upset and I can get that.
But then you see how they all kinda just--- treated him really badly all the time. I get it,, he’s got weird traits and does very “Zane” things (being unfazed to be in the bathroom with somebody, legitimately not understanding comedy and laughing at odd things, at least Nya and Jay weren’t watching a horror or slasher movie, and his famous sitting-in-the-fridge scene) but like--
They really gonna do this??
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Laugh at the guy for what he wears and throw around the food he made for them? Even Wu, may I add.
Can I also call attention to Jay, who throws something at Zane.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
AND LOOK AT HIM--
That is not a face of comfort? By any means?? Zane shows a very little range of emotion, in the early seasons especially. But when Jay throws his own food at him, he frowns. THAT’S EMOTION,, HE’S NOT HAPPY,,, THIS ISN’T A JOKE NOR IS IT FUNNY TO HIM.
And they just--Don’t even do a double-take.
I’m bewildered at just how horribly they treat him, in this scene specifically. Not one of them, NOT EVEN WU, takes a second to think about how Zane might feel in this moment??? IN FACT, If you listen carefully, you can hear Nya and Jay belittling him.
“He looks so cute in his apron!” and “Look at his face!”
THEY ACKNOWLEDGE THEY’RE BEING CRUEL LIKE WTF THIS MAKES ME SO MAD--I HOPE THEY WENT TO BED STARVING.
.
So after this god awful display of friendship that makes me want to slap all the other ninja, we get the infamous Falcon scene.
Tumblr media
Zane has his general neutral kinda-angy-lookin’ expression. So we can’t really tell what he’s feeling in this moment, but it’s his actions that follow that say everything.
He sees the falcon and is intrigued by it and actually smiles. Which is good! That’s emotion! Well done, Zane, you’re learning!
Tumblr media
NOW IT’S THIS BIT---IS WHERE I GET REAL JUST---HHHHHMMM It’s in this moment, I wonder if Zane knows what a toxic friendship isghghgh I jest--
Zane is smiling when he sees the falcon fly off. He likes the bird but he lets it leave.
But then---
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Zane takes one brief look back to the sound of his friends and without a second doubt he BOOKS IT--
So from initially seeing this, you get the instant feeling that he would prefer to follow a mysterious bird into possible danger, than go back to his friends who are still laughing in the distance. He obviously was going to return back to them, they tease his lack of returning later in the episode WHICH I HOPE TO GET TO. But that does say enough about his actual feelings towards the rest.
Strange, possibly evil bird---or my friends who’re probably going to continue to laugh at me.
It’s a nobrainer that he’d follow the bird??
He’s not truly upset at them, I don’t even think that Zane has the capability to really be angry ngl,, but he still chose the bird over his “family” and that’s what makes me so angry at the ninja.
And to those who say “He’s not upset at the ninja, he’s just curious and the fact that he essentially ran away from them, doesn’t mean he dislikes them” I say,,, That is fair. And I will, for the sake of not looking like a dick, argue for that.
It’s clear that Zane likes to know stuff. In the beginning, he’s been the smart one. Even in this episode Kai says “We like the guy, he’s really smart..” then complains about him being weird. And later down the line he’s shown an interest in learning, being the only one in season 11 to actually read about the desert of doom and the Mechanic himself saying he’s an inquisitive nindroid in season 12.
So it’s understandable if Zane was simply sating his curiosity. But how can you tell me that the previous event was not a deciding factor in choosing the bird instead..
.
I would now like to jump forward to when the ninja are at Lloyd’s tree-house (Can I point out that the first place the falcon took zane, was a tree-house. And the last was a tree house?? Anybody? okay just me--).
And when they ask him how he found it; he tells them it’s because it danced. Jay then jokingly asks if it was a coo-coo bird, promoting everyone to--
Tumblr media
IF YOU GUESSED “laugh at him” YOU’D BE CORRECT, HOW DID YOU GUESS???
When he does his info dump thing they don’t even bother, they just shrug in unison--which ngl I do find funny ghghgh
.
Now that’s where you’d think the Zane bullying stops right?
NOPE,, TIME TO BURN DOWN THE MONASTERY (this is a cool shot btw)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is a good shot too, because it sets up that Zane will be a focus, and you can already assume it’s because, in some essence, this is Zane’s fault.
Tumblr media
But then they go all out on him. They straight up tell him this was his fault, that he shouldn’t have followed the bird, he shouldn’t have been curious or try to help, that everything they had here is gone, and yell at him to his face “A teaching moment? What’s wrong with you? Don’t you get it? Everything is gone!” and it’s because of him.
In this moment they are taking out every frustration they had with him. They’re taking out every moment he’s gone into his own world and making their lives harder and that their home is gone because of him.
This is one of the very first, and very few times all the ninja have pitted against just one of their team. And it hurts. Because Zane’s reaction to this, his response to being treated horribly, having his food thrown at him like he didn’t spend likely hours making and planing it, like he doesn’t do the chores they probably wont do (taking out the rubbish earlier in the episode), is to go back to them like he wasn’t hurt by this at all.
And y’know what could’ve solved this entire thing? What could’ve prevented the exclusion and the explosion that is their friendship. Communication. On both sides, neither of them communicated with each other. The ninja didn’t openly express their feelings towards Zane TO Zane, only Wu and probably Nya. And Zane never expressed anything, ever, like--literally nothing. His moment of most emotion is in episode 7 dammit.
And I just--This is an issue that’s followed through even to the new seasons. Honest to god some of the only times I can recall him actually expressing how he feels about something, is with Pixal, and when Kai persuades him to break his morals and cheat in the slug race. God please help me find more examples because I cannot remember anything else (I’m ignoring Decoded for the time being since the last episode of that was almost entirely “Zane therapy time”)
.
.
.
Imma end it here because my rant juices have stopped flowing and I haven’t slept in many many long hours and I really would like to collapse right about now.
So i’m not saying Zane has it worst, he probably doesn’t,, but what I’m saying is that Zane had a tough time in the beginning especially. After Kai became properly a part of the group, it was Zane that they outcasted. And because they wouldn’t actually talk to him about what they all thought. They didn’t take the time to understand him and only realized they missed him and how badly they’d been treating him when he was gone.
In the start, they were bad friends, they were horrible in fact. Zane tried, or didn’t. Where he didn’t understand people or social cues, he understood being kind and doing the right thing.
The ninja did however work from this. As of this episode, they tone down the mistreatment and make a bigger effort to get the guy. And it’s all explained and finished in episode 7.
.
.
Overall, I really like this episode! I think the characters were great! I think the humor was great! I think the progression was great! I dunno why some o’ yall think I don’t like something because I hate it. I can hate-love something, and you’ll find there are a lot of things I hate-love in ninjago.

jc stans never fail to stretch the limits of horrible reading comprehension. the recent twt discourse is quite funny. tbh i kinda see almost everything wwx as some kind of self defense of in defense of other ppl. Except for the torture of wc. wwx doesn't tend to go out of his way to hurt ppl, jc does go out of his way to fuck with other ppl.
I don't think that loving a character who has done really bad shit is inherently bad (i am a geto stan) , but if you are complaining about other characters doing morally grey shit and then complain that these characters didn't suffer enough while you put on a pedestal a character that has done equally if not worse deeds, then you're a hypocrite.
Yeah, that's always the thing. While it's okay to love characters who do deeply fucked up things (I mean, I fucking loved Hannibal, doesn't mean... any of the leads in that show are genuinely good people (god they all suck as people by the end of season three I love them)), you can't then turn around and insist this other character is indisputably and irredeemably evil. Especially in a case like this, where the other character's "crimes" are... arguably considerably less serious? I mean... WWX killed people in self-defence, JC stabbed his "brother" in the gut (literally) and the back (metaphorically) and then instigated and led the slaughter of a civilian population because he was butthurt about his favourite toy picking someone else over him. Between the two... yeah, WWX definitely comes out on top morally speaking. Honestly my favourite "WWX Evil" argument is "But WWX tortured WC!" because a) JC did that too and b) torturing people is JC's preferred MO for thirteen years, I'm pretty sure it's the one thing he's beaten WWX in. So yeah, the issue isn't people liking JC, or even making excuses for his behaviour (although that is incredibly irritating with how it's infected the entire fandom), it's that when any other characters get anywhere near JC's level of Awful the stans are suddenly ranting on and on about how evil they are. Honestly that applies to JGY as well; "He wiped out a sect and killed his brother!" Well, so did JC, why does he get a free pass? Again, the issue isn't people not approving of a given character's actions; it's them doing something very similar to JC's actions being seen as Bad And Wrong while JC doing the same fucking thing is totally fine or even heroic.
