Why did Roxanne, Erin and Kelsey all switch from the side pony tail to the braid and back pony tail? Roxanne's old Parr wig was one of the best of any production, and to switch out both Erin and Kelsey's wigs when they're different from what Gabriella wore or what they used to wear just feels bizarre
Wig design is basically about trying to take the typical standardized styles and translate them to the individual actors’ faces, hair/skin tones, and textures. (Here’s a great in-depth post Sofia did that goes into more detail about this and talks about Roxanne Couch’s change too). In this case, the mid-ponytails are more flattering on them than the side.
Some styles just work better than others for different facial shapes - some people look better with a high up do, with a low, half pulled back, all down, bangs, whatever. In Roxanne’s case, the side ponytail was a little too harsh; the new wig softens and flatters her face more subtly. Similar reason for Erin Ramirez/Marilyn Caserta/Kelsee Kimmel as well. The old styles weren’t bad on them, and it was nice on Roxanne particularly! But the new styling is a better fit for all of them.
It’s also pretty heavily based on hair texture. The initial side Parr styling was based on a style sometimes worn by Alicia Keys, and the hairstyle is primarily worn by Black women. As such it's based on a range of hair types and textures that we mostly see in (some) Black women: defined, soft, loose curls with a lot of volume. If you're familiar with hair typing, it's going to work best with hair in the type 3 categories (here's a good introductory article with examples). It's a gorgeous style that can look lovely! It was very flattering on Maiya Quansah-Breed and has continued to work well for queens with similar hair styles. But Six has struggled from the start with adapting it to other hair types and textures. Most of the other Six hairstyles are generic enough that they can be adapted to different textures with minimal change to the overall aesthetic. The original Parr not so much, because it really needs that specific combo of qualities for the hairstyle to work. If you have the looseness but don't have the right curl or the volume it looks too flat and asymmetrical, which we saw with Gabriela Carrillo's initial hairstyle; if you go for the curl but go too short or structured it's just not going to flatter as many of the actors and you've lost that really lovely softness, which we've seen with quite a few of the non-Black actors' styles. Many of the Black actors naturally have the hair texture(s) and type(s) that lend itself well to the hairstyle, so they've generally had a lot of success with those. For the Black actors that don't, they've generally A. adapted the hairstyle to work with their natural hair (usually for queens with enough volume that it still translates well, like Viquichele Cross or Danielle Steers), OR B. given them a wig that may not quite match their natural hair texture, but still looks natural and allows for the right texture/structure. (Generally queens in both camps have a type 4 hair texture and which they go for has depended on budget and hair care for the individual actor.) But for the non-Black actors, that's much more difficult. Very few non-Black actors have hair that's even remotely the right texture for this hairstyle: actors like Gabriela Carrillo and Roxanne Couch have some texture but not enough of the curl and volume needed, while actors like Erin Ramirez and Kelsee Kimmel have natural hair textures that are much closer to working but still don't quite work. They could give these actors a wig with a texture different than their own that would be more conducive to the style, but while doing so generally reads as natural on the Black queens, doing so for non-Black queens would often make the wig read as unnatural or even outright inappropriate. The UK has historically gotten around all that by doing the curly side ponytail. It does work fairly well, but it's still not flattering on everyone and the style they go for is visibly unnaturally curled, which isn't inherently bad but doesn't work as well for Parr as it does for some of the other queens (her whole vibe is very low fuss, or as low as it can be given the spectacle that is Six costumes). It's not a bad choice, and like you said Roxanne's was one of the best! But it's not going to work well for everyone, and for Roxanne specifically the switch to a back ponytail is a slightly better fit, and of course they've continued that trend since.
In the US (and NCL) there's been a whole lot of experimentation. The Aragon Tour alone has gone through multiple different hairstyles. Think Gabriela Carrillo's original Aragon Tour side-swept to her loose low side ponytail, compared to Kelsee Kimmel and Erin Ramirez's loose curly updos piled more directly on top of their heads. Over on the Boleyn Tour we've seen Tay Pearlstein with a smaller and more structured side updo, and then Sydney Parra with a looser and relatively longer side ponytail (which is one of my personal favorites, actually!). For Gabi and Sydney they experimented until they got to styles they ultimately were happy with, and now they're standardized to the current back ponytail iteration, but Erin/Kelsee/Tay never quite had that. TL;DR: Back ponytail is both more flattering on most of them + an easier style adaptation for some of the queens whose hair doesn't lend itself as well to the side ponytails.
Also quick note that there’s also nothing saying the alternates’ hairstyles have to be remotely identical to the principals! Six has never really gone for that anyway, beyond the usual standardization. Like I said, they experimented with Gabi's wig (over a longgg period of time) until they got to something they were happy with, but it seems like they just never got to that point with Erin/Kelsee/Tay/etc!

Quick broadway cast change costume update
Both @six-costume-refs have been too busy to do a proper breakdown of the broadway costumes. But this is a returning cast so it is mostly updates which means we can keep it short.
In general the broadway costumes are a mix of Aragon tour and new pieces with some being replaced during the tour and some for broadway. There is a solid amount of guessing in here. Some things seem to be new but made from the same patterns as the tour costumes. And some things (sleeves, underlayers) there is no way to be sure whether those are new or old just from photos. Crowns and accesories are likely the same they had on tour as those get very little wear compated to costumes. Also in theory they should all have new boots. In general queens who stay for a second contract get new pairs after about a year so following that pattern the broadway cast should be getting new boots.
Khaila Wilcoxon: Khaila has a new costume. Looks like it was made from a new pattern, top and belt shape are slightly different and skirt is longer. She has either her tour wig restyled or a new wig with the same curl pattern as the old one. Wig is styled with two braids on top pulling the hair back and less volume than her tour style.
Storm Lever: Storm seems to be wearing her old costume. She has a new wig. Straight hair like her tour wig but longer and looks thicker.
Jasmine Forsberg: Jasmine has a new corset, it is shorter on the sides and has a more pronounced point in front, and cups are a slightly different shape. Recent JKNYC dresses have been looser over the hips, Jasmine still has the more fitted style which says its likely her tour dress or a new dress with the old pattern. Her wig could be new or the old restyled. She has a side part, styled bangs and curls like she did on tour. But bangs have less volume and curls are tighter and in smaller clumps.
Olivia Donaldson: Olivia has what looks like a new costume made from the same pattern as the original with minimal alterations and bigger tabs. No clear photos of her pre reveal costume or leotard yet. If it is all new the sleeves might be repurposed from the tour costume. She also got a new wig and hairstyle with cornrows on the sides and curls with red highlights on top. An interesting detail is that she switched from black and silver makeup which US casts did previously to red and silver which was introduced in late 2022.
Didi Romero: Didi has a new skirt and leotard with either her tour top or a new top made from the same pattern. Her ponytail looks new too.
Gabriela Carrillo: Gabi has a new top and either her tour peplum (likely) or a new one made from the same pattern as her tour one. No way to be sure on the pants. She has a new wig with highlights she didn't have before and a variation of the current back ponytail Parr style. She has a french braid in one side and a dutch braid on the other as introduced in the canadian cast, but instead of a high ponytail or loose waves she has a low ponytail mirroring her tour styles.

My fav six wig variants x
Rt bfr we start the parade, just wanna reiterate I am not calling any actors ugly, these are simply what looked best on the actress, and for the character they play in my views.
Aragon: Deirdre Dunkin
Tumblr media
There are MANY things i would like to say about this wig, but I'm tryina keep all these brief x
1: The wig, whilst looking completely new, still keeps to the standard Aragon crunches (Dutch braids, Hair gathered to back etc.)
2: The back curls look amazing, the wig must of taken so long to get perfect.
Boleyn: Baylie Carson:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, most bobo wigs seem to follow the same pre-standardised look (Straight hair, Pulled to back) so i was excited to see six stepping away from this look when the production photos came out.
After seeing them live, i can not only say that the wig works logistically (Short, pulled back front), but also that the curls actually assist in Baylie's characterization of the character (Bubbly, More chaotic etc.)
Edit: Bonus points for their curls going wild whenever they move x
Seymour: Jasmine Forsberg (Bway variant)
Tumblr media
Jasmine is phenomenal as Seymour, so it's no surprise her wig is exactly the same x. The front piece remains the same as her Aragon tour wig, however her curls are much more loose, and less bunched.
Might just be me but i feel like this works for her less regal, more humane characterization of Seymour.
Cleves: Nasia Thomas
Need i say more, Look at the beauty x.
Tumblr media
(Honestly would go as far to say it's the best cleves wig we've been given PERIOD, but we're all entitled to our own opinions x
Howard: Sophie Issacs:
Tumblr media
I like this wig for many of the same reasons as i do Baylie's, however in a slightlllyyy different context.
With Sophie's wig, I feel as though the more less structured, more curly appearance assists in portraying the character of Howard (a young, naive child) in a more visual sense, therefore making her solo an even more emotional journey for the audience, as her innocence, and child-like mannerisms are on full display.
Parr: The side-curl variant.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In this case, you simply cannot beat the original.
Appearance-wise, this variant is almost always a hit, it also works in a more technical sense, as the actresses hair is fully combed to one side of their forehead, allowing for less distraction onstage. Along with this, the simplistic appearance of the curls, allows for actors to have slightly more freedom over how they wish to style their hair.
EG: Danielle's Length & volume compared to Janiq's; Hannah's more maintained hairstyle.

yet another dumb idea
haikyu production of six the musical, except the cast list looks like this
Catherine of Aragon - Hajime Iwaizumi
 Anne Boleyn - Eita Semi
Jane Seymour - Yūji Terushima
Anna of Cleves - Yūki Shibayama
Katherine Howard - Ryūnosuke Tanaka
Catherine Parr - Hitoka Yachi
can you just imagine the reactions of the teamates. karasuno crying when all you wanna do comes on
Nekoma is laughing their butts off when get down comes on
Johzenji is absolutely frozen most of the show because of A :the jokes are amazing and B: the are crying
Seijoh is just blown away because iwaizumi has an amazing voice and they also look really hot in that costume
Ushijima was the costume designer, understudy, choreographer and director... they have no regrets
yachi was the only person on stage wearing actual pants, semi, terushima and shibayamawore the normal costume, iwaizumi made ushijima change his to have shorts same with Tanaka
They met up with their teams after the show but they were still in costume even the band,so imagine being shiratorizawa , after this emotional rollercoaster of a show instead of going back to the dorms your confronted with semi, who is still in costume and ushijima is A: still wearing a headset and backstage clothes and B: is bouncing up and down with after show excitement
Tanaka wore a wig during the proformance so it took a little bit of time to recognize them
This is the wig ⬇️
Tumblr media
BONUS:
the ladies in waiting
Musical Director/Keys - Kōtarō Bokuto Drums - Kanji Koganegawa Guitar - Shigeru Yahaba Bass - Lev Haiba

misc six observations:
the pantages is the most gorgeous theater i’ve ever been in (not that i’ve been in many but u know)
it’s also along the walk of fame and kirsten chenoweth’s star is right by the door (lena horne's is just across the street)
they didn’t advertise my show as accessible but it was open-captioned and asl-interpreted (but it looks like both things were only viewable to ppl seated on the left side)
an old couple next to me were trying to figure out which “chopin composition” the pre-show music was? (they’re all piano covers of pop songs) v confused
the “queen bios” in the playbill list aragon’s interests as “religion, sewing, dancing, and a bit more religion”, boleyn’s says she’s remembered for “headlessness”. parr’s talks about her friendship w mary and that her mom was LIW to some previous wives, but makes no mention of the fact that aragon was her godmother(/namesake) or that she married seymour’s brother
the minute greensleeves started playing, people started cheering. it was so fun
khaila was born to play aragon that's all im saying. literally nonstop applause until the dluh intro
storm's boleyn tiptoed that line between "idk what's going on" and "smart and cunning" so so well
cleves did the ponytail-pull instead of seymour? idk if this is a recent change but it has Interesting implications characterization-wise lmao also it was just funny because olivia had to significantly reach up to get to courtney's hair
speaking of which, both nat and cmack's new wigs look a lot fancier than their old ones somehow
im pretty sure nmp actually started crying during hos (which, even though i've heard her sing it a million times, was every bit as beautiful as i thought it would be)
hoh live is an Experience in the best way, they just looked like they were having the best time bouncing around the stage
the audience member picked for get down was so good/confident olivia cheered for her the entire time instead of doing the "this is my song" bit after shfghjkl
get down is already such a lively song but olivia's version amps it up even more like i was in stitches during the intro and the entire audience was fired up by the end
the k-howard roast didnt get as many laughs as it should've :// i felt so bad for courtney because she delivered those lines flawlessly
and then loud and immediate applause after aywd??? L audience tbh
(also interesting note – the asl interpreter didn’t sign for applause after the song like she did for all the others)
natalie's "I DIED" was every bit as amazing as all the audios. also she basically chased khaila offstage while saying that line sdkf
i think gabriela is my new favorite parr im so obsessed w her take on idnyl and her acting (even in the background) is impeccable
there were some obvious mic issues – both cmack and storm were a bit quieter than everyone else and khaila was way louder; all three of them left the stage at various points for unknown reasons (but there wasn't a show stop and i dont think most people noticed someone missing)
this cast's chemistry was i n s a n e like the little interactions and they way they reacted to each other plus the harmonies…10/10 no notes
speaking of which. there was a really sweet moment toward the end of idnyl ("why should i tell that story?") where aragon puts her hand on howard's knee comfortingly
standing ovation after six!!! idk if this is a regular occurrence but they bowed an extra time because of all the clapping lol
except then people started leaving, so courtney had to start the megasix early and you could barely hear her over the audience
but it was ok cuz people stayed on their feet throughout the megasix too and again the girls took a really long time leaving the stage after bc the cheers kept getting louder!!!
tldr i had the BEST time and if the tickets weren’t so expensive id go again and again <3

Amelia Atherton Q&A
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
@/broadwayworks on Instagram, 27 January 2024
Some other questions that were asked:
Q: Where are you from? A: So I'm from a place called Bolton which is in North of England near Manchester, which is probably the biggest city nearby. Uh, but I actually live in London now.
Q: Have you met queens from other companies of Six? A: I've been fortunate enough to meet quite a few of the other lovely queens from Six. Uh, the ones I know best and love very dearly are, ehrm, my good friend Maiya Quansah-Breed who played Parr in the original West End cast, we had sixth form college together. Um, my wonderful, wonderful friend Monique (Ashe-Palmer) who was alternate Aragon/Cleves on the West End last year. I also know Harriet (Caplan-Dean) who was super swing on the tour and has played many many times on the West End - we also went to college together - and my god friend Scarlet (Gabriel) who played Cleves, ehrm, on the ship, and also Ellie (Eloise) Lord, my current Parr sister who just finished. Ehrm, we auditioned together this time. So we got the job at the same time which was so nice.
Q: Your fave alternate costume? A: I always wanted to be… on the tour in the orange - I think it was the alternate Seymour and Parr costume that they had on the UK Tour. I've wanted those orange trousers so badly. Orange, 100% for me.
Q: Who's a past/present queen who has inspired you? A: I have already loaded answer for this question. So I've always thought myself as an Aragon or a Cleves, until I saw Danielle Steers play Parr. And then I was like wait… maybe that's me. So yeah. Danielle Steers is my inspo 100%, ehrm, and lot of things she does like the Cher show too, like, sigh that would be a dream-dream-dream of mine. But yeah. So Danielle Steers is my biggest Parr inspo for sure.
Q: How many times has Izzy been on? Izzy (Formby-Jackson): Hello! Ehrm, so I've actually only been on four times because I did - I swing on for Boleyn, and obviously that was two shows - and then I did my debut as Howard for two shows too! So I've only actually done four! But yeah, there'll be some more to come, so… that's exciting!
Q: Is your wig your natural hair colour? A: Kind of… kind of not. Like, my natural hair is like, dark blonde. But I dye it. I've had like every hair colour under the sun, I've had red, black. This colour here is probably the closest to my natural that I've had in a long time. But yeah, ehrm, they asked me how I felt like being, like, a more blonde Parr and I said "I would love it" because basically we've got no other, like, blonde queens in the cast. So yeah, it's cool, and I like it. It's something different, and I like that it's unique.
Q: Why are the cruise contracts so small? A: So the answer to this question is actually that we're the final cruise cast of Six, which is why our contract was only four months long rather than the usual Six-month contract. Ehrm, they're also shroter than the land contract just because of laws to do with how long you can be on a ship for, how long you can be signed on as crew member. Also things like getting a visa for being in the US and working the US from - we're from the UK. That's why they're slightly shorter. But yeah, ours is particularly short this time around because we're the final cruise cast, which is crazy! But I also feel very fortunate to have that. Yeah! It's really cool.
Q: What songs did you sing for the audition? A: So, most of the times I've auditioned for the show it's just been shows from the show. Erhm, but the first time I auditioned I saw Wings by Little Mix and Best Thing I Never Had by Beyonce.
Q: What other queen would you be if you had the choice? Amelia: I've got a special guest! The face of BroadwayWorks… Sarah's here! Sarah (McFarlane): Hello! Amelia: Sarah plays Howard, and, yeah, we're gonna answer this question together because we just found out… Sarah: We have the same answer! Amelia: And what is that answer? Sarah: Seymoo! Amelia: Seymoo! Sarah: I wanna be Seymour! Amelia: Yeah, so would I, and I said earlie, I was like - "oh, maybe Aragon"… then Izzy was like, "what about Seymour?" and I was like, wait… yeah… Sarah: Well, I think I'd like choose Seymour or- or Parr, my other rehearsal swing covers Amelia: Yeah, I'd like to see you do both of them. Yeah, so I'd like to do Seymoo.
Q: Any on-stage mishaps? Sarah: Oh, we've got plenty. I - obviously, as you know, my song is 45-million years long, and there's lots of lyrics, and there's been a few occasions where I get in my little head, and I mess them up! And on the Henry verse, instead of singing "tall, large, Henry the Eighth", I sang "serious, tall and large…" and so no one knew who Henry was 'cause I didn't say his name! Amelia: It was very funny. And I was trying to keep a straight face, like this - purses her lips tightly to one side Sarah: I was like - gasp no! He's no the supreme head of the church of England I guess. Amelia: And mine was when I went to say "hashtag no Catholics"… I said "hashtag big Catholics… hashtag biiiig dowry"… BIG Catholics, BIGGER dowry- Sarah: Which is funny, because I'm- I am Amalia of Cleves, and I'm Irish, so. Amelia: Yeah! Sarah: Call me a big Catholic. Amelia: She's a big Catholic right there.
Q: If you weren't a performer, what would you be doing professionally? Amelia: Special guest Gabbi Mack! Aragon is here! And she's gonna answer a question? Gabbi: [reads question] If think I would be a librarian. Amelia: What? That's so cute! Gabbi: To do research and I like to look at… well, I like to look at picture books. Both: [laughing] Gabbi: But I think I would be a librarian. Amelia: That's so cute… oh my god! Gabbi: What would you do? Amelia: My obvious answer is to be a teacher, but I actually don't think these days that I can do that.
Q: Fave thing about being in Six? Amelia: Special guest unlocked! Janice (Rijssel) is here! [chuckle from Janice] Janice is gonna answer this question. Janice: So my favourite thing about being in Six is being called queen all day every day- [loud laughter] Amelia: And it's so true! 'Cause every week people are like, "hi queen! hi queen!" Janice: They don't even know my name, they say just, "oh hey queen, queen queen! Amelia: Yeah, we love that!
Q: Can you show us Boleyn and ask her what her favourite part of her costume is? Amelia: Okay, here she is, best for last! Hello! Lorren (Santo-Quinn): Hey! Amelia: What's your favourite part of your costume, Lorren? I love my wig and my hoops. Yeah. I love a good accessory. Amelia: Yes, good choice!

Summer 2023 Wig Updates: North American Productions
Tumblr media
The Canadian production has officially opened! I'll do a more in-depth look at all of the wigs later this week, but a few quick updates worthy of note: - Julia Pulo doesn't have any major changes to the base style, but we're finally getting to see a North American Boleyn with curls!! - Krystal Hernández got the red ponytail braid style for Cleves. It has some changes to the specific style, which I'll go into more detail about this week. - Lauren Mariasoosay has the back ponytail that's becoming an alternative standardized style. Hers has a very different base than any of the UK and most of the prior North American Parr wigs in this style, but it definitely fits the general category of the back center ponytail. Again, comparison post coming soon. - We've also seen a few of the alts' hairstyles! So far everything has been as expected, but it does answer one of the big questions I've had: what hair color they'd give Darcy Stewart. She might not get the same color for all three of her queens, but at least for Boleyn they went for a light blonde that reads more strawberry blonde under stage lights.
Tumblr media
Over in the Broadway and North American Tour... - Khaila Wilcoxon joined Broadway as a temporary replacement for Aragon. She's still wearing her wig from the Aragon Tour. - And Sydney Parra got the back ponytail style about a week ago, which we've seen slowly become standardized for non-Black actors. It might be her old wig re-styled but I'm waiting on better photos to confirm that. The styling seems to be more in line with Lauren Mariasoosay's wig than some of the past in this style, but again I'm waiting for better photos.

Note
Janiq’s new wig, while the reasoning is understandable since the original was damaging her hair and I love the volume, is a bit of a shame to lose the classic Parr style, do you think it’ll still be around in future productions or is the original side part retired for now you think?
Also if you were to keep the current back pony Parr style but still incorporate more afro style hair textures, how’d you personally do it? Braids? Or maybe a puff a la Viquichelle or Cassy’s Aragon?
I think its unlikely they retire the side ponytail. It is one of the iconic six looks. The back ponytail was made out of necesity because the side ponytail doesn't really work with straight or wavy hair. Anything less curly than 3B will not have enough volume or deflate throughout the show if curled. And the few curled alternatives they did depend a lot on face shape: side swept curls (Gabriella), side curls (Roxanne and Natalie), small tightly curled ponytail (Sydney and Tay), curled poof on the front (Erin and Kelsee). So the back ponytail is a good alternative that can fit everyone with small alterations.
Tumblr media
What I think is happening is that there are more non black Parrs than ever before so a lot of them have the back ponytail. But once you start thinking about it there are a lot of side ponytails in play at the moment. Janiq does have the back ponytail and I did see that the old wig was damaging her hair, but the most important thing to me is that she seems to love the back ponytail on herself over her original style. Which I think should always be a priority. Shakira seems to alternate between side and back ponytail depending on the status of her hair on the day (which I love btw). Tamara and Ellie wear the side ponytail. Jana has the side ponytail and I expect her to keep it for broadway. Hailey has side braids but thats in a way a take on side ponytail. And recently Ayla, Kristina, Leah, Monique and Eloise all had side ponytails. Also I assume Carlina will get it too.
Tumblr media
Its just a matter of for a really long time the side ponytail dominated (some version of back Parr ponytail has been in play since late 2019) but now things are semi evenly split between that and the back ponytail. But its definitely not dissapearing

~The salvation of the sinner: a queen and her knight [a world where there’s no Thomas Seymour]~ [part III]
It was difficult not to think about him, not when finally the prospective of happiness was set on the horizon. Even so, Katheryn preferred to be careful.
As mindful of her duties as she’d been, at the first signs of harboring sentiments that she was far from accostumed in feeling, she buried herself in her duties such as promoting the Protestant cause in Sudeley by readings of the Bible with her ladies and discussing the gospels in the light of Luther’s teachings with the local nobility, sometimes visiting the common folk and ensuring the local church would be provided with the best means to evangelize the people.
And there were her pupils, of course. She had under her wig her stepdaughter, lady Elizabeth, and just recently lady Jane Grey, the oldest daughter of her friend lady Frances Grey. In a manner, Katheryn was a tutor to them, assigning them lessons and teaching the word of God as it was, not as dictated by the Catholic Church.
However, Katheryn was also concerned with their education as both ladies were part of the same dynasty—the Tudor dynasty—-whose founder was lady Elizabeth’s grandfather and lady Jane’s great-grandfather, Henry VII. So she made sure they were educated under the same tutor, Roger Asham, and placed them under the guidance of her sister, Anne Parr, who was designed to instruct the princesses in domestic matters.
Anakin, on the other hand, could tell all of this occupation was a distraction to the rising of feelings that they both, however attracted to each other, sought to avoid. Out of respect for her, he kept himself distant, although when looking back at how easily they bonded in the last now two months, the Jedi was frustrated at this.
Lady Elizabeth and Lady Jane had been away with Lady Parr by the time Anakin had returned from one of his usual roundings. He’d been friending other guards so he was pretty popular by now. This was also a good way to keep him occupied and sometimes Anakin ventured in helping settle local discontents when he had no tasks to be performed.
Lady Katherine, in her rare moments away from her protegées and not occupied with her duties, was busy reading when Anakin finally entered her privy chambers without even asking for permission.
“Yes?” She heard the door opened and thinking would either be her sister, a lady-in-waiting or her stepdaughter, she did not raise the eyes from a book she was reading.
“May I have your attention, please?”, an impatient and husky male voice startled her and when she saw Anakin standing before her, Katheryn blushed violently.
She put the book aside, straightened the skirts of her gown, and then rose her eyes to meet the stormy piercing blue ones of his.
“What is wrong, Master Skywalker?” She was hoping he was not asking to leave the service. The mere idea made her fingertips tight the grip around the skirts of her gown.
Aware of her thoughts, Anakin was put at ease. So she does care. But even so, his shoulders remained tense, his muscles rigid.
“I cannot deal with how easily your mood swings, my lady. At first, you were warm. Then you were cold. When I reapproached, you warmed again, but ever since that day you decided to keep your distance.” He scoffed.
Katheryn was taken aback by the urgence in his voice, the frustration ever so revealing--ever matching mine own-- and how he stepped forward as she stepped backwards.
“I thought we bonded.”
“We...”, she swallowed, but could not avert her gaze far from his. “We did.”
“Then tell me you do not want this to happen and I’ll go back to my Master”, said Anakin, now so close to her that he could hear her breathing,
Katheryn rose a hand to gently stroke his cheek as she used the other to put a curl behind his ear, her fingertips lingering in the touch of his hair as he leant against her palm. She realized she had been holding her breath.
“I want you”, her words left in a whisper and by saying so, she felt so light, as if she let go of a burden that weighted upon her shoulders. “But I fear for your safety.”
“I would embrace death with pleasure if this meant to live every day by your side”, said Anakin, firmly. “I cannot bear the mere idea of carrying you without you.”
Katheryn, who never before was acquainted with the concept of love without being attributed to a possible development of an arranged union, could not believe in what she was told. Her former husbands would never speak to her in such a manner. I could almost believe I’m difficult to love.
As Anakin captured what was unsaid, he softened before her. His hands cup her cheeks, drowning in her eyes.
“The ghosts of your past will do no harm to us. You deserve to be loved. Let me show you how.”
She leaned towards him without saying a word. It was enough for Anakin to brush his lips against hers before dwelling into it, pressing it in a passionate, fervent even possessive kiss. Katheryn beamed, not feeling the need to shield herself against him anymore. She gladly welcomed Anakin in her arms, leaning her body into his as their kiss deepen, their tongues dancing in a particular dispute as they refuse to let the other go.
But suddenly the kiss was not enough. Anakin knew it too. Hesitantly, though, he parted his lips from hers in search... of anything, actually.
“I love you”, she told him, completely and irreversely in love with him.
“I love you, my queen”, he whispered before joining his lips into hers again.
There was little time to think about it. Katheryn pulled him against her, her hands moving from his gentle face to his shoulders and then pausing over his chest. She could feel, even beneath the black leather he wears, his muscles well built and gave her a sentiment that in her lifetime she never conceived. It resulted in a heat that shook her legs and right in what’s between.
She feared at first. Anakin looked at her, aware of her insecurities, aware of what was her feelings, even though he could never tell her of the powers of Jedi.
“We do not have to do this if you do not wish for.”
“I’ve waited for you all my life, Master Skywalker”, she heard herself saying. “I pray God you are not departing my life.”
He took her hands to his lips and, as their eyes held a long glance, the Jedi kissed his queen’s hands:
“Never. I long to be with you for eternity if you wish.”
Katheryn’s lips opened in a warm smile.
“Always, my love. I’m yours for eternity as long as you have me.”
“I will.”
A possessive kiss was all she felt the need to. Katheryn melted in his arms, helping him tossing away his clothes as he did the same to her gown, even though he was more clumsy in helping her remove the pieces of her clothing. In between chuckles, however, all difficulties were passed by.
Katheryn’s heartbeat was fast, fast enough to reach Anakin’s sensitive ears and he smiled as he laid her down in bed. This was a moment just between them, the two of them, eager to love and be loved. Nothing could tear them apart.
As they moved together in bed as one, her bedchamber was the only witness of their love making..which might as well bring some result later. But neither cared. They wanted that moment for themselves.
“I love you, my queen”, he whispered against her ears, locking hands as their bodies intertwined.
“And I, you, my knight”, said she. “My Ani”, she sang out his name.
As that afternoon turned into twilight, they knew they could not leave aside that intimate moment they shared together, even though neither thought about forgetting by any means. That is why Anakin, ever the impulsive one, leaning on his elbows said:
“We should make this official. You and me.”
Perhaps Katheryn would feel frightened if this was with another man. But that was not the case. It felt as if God was permitting her to find the path for happiness.
“We should. We might just wait a little... When it comes after New Year, for I am expected to attend the court before retiring it for good.”
Anakin was impatient, but upon the look of adoration she gave him, how could he deny her anything? When she turned to her elbows, his eyes scanned with a mix of lust and love the way her long curls fell behind her back, covering every inch of her exposed skin.
“You are my temptation”, he leaned forward to plant soft kisses around her neck, earning him small sighs from her which made him smirk. “Damned be my vows.”
Katheryn chuckled softly, enjoying the warmth their bodies united produced. She tilted her head slight to the right and turned her eyes to spot his.
“You are an angel of the Lord, Ani.”
Seeing her this happy and knowing he was part of the reason of her happiness was the reason why he swooned over her.
My queen of hearts. Mine.
And he leant to kiss her with fury as if small doubts assaulted his mind uninvitedly in order to wonder whether she was really his… even if mere seconds ago he could tell by her thoughts that yes, she was.

Katheryn was most pleased to have Anakin well received by Lady Elizabeth and Lady Jane once they were told of her new marriage. Although lady Elizabeth wondered why a queen would ever remarry after countless sufferings in the hands of men, this princess was more than content to see the woman who’s been the mother she was deprived to, was finally happy. As for lady Jane, although younger than her royal cousin—enough to have missed the troubles of the reign of Henry VIII—-she shared similar thoughts.
But eventually the news would release a great deal of scandal. And when it did, lady Elizabeth did tell her stepmother that:
“Our dynasty was founded on similar background that you and Master Skywalker are now tangled. There was a French queen who, voilá, was also named Catherine. She fell for her knight too.”
Katheryn and Anakin exchanged glances, amusement dancing in their eyes. He held her hand and took it to his lips, where he pressed a gentle kiss.
“We will make this worth it.”
The council eventually knew of the former queen of England’s elopment with the Jedi Knight Master Skywalker, but the king was happy for seeing the one he cherished as a mother happy too. So good willing was he in pardoning them that they had little to fear in losing the royal favour, much to the dismay of Edward Seymour and his wife.

There were a few moments of fear as Katheryn’s pregnancy began to reach final stages and Anakin’s peaceful sleep was assaulted by constant nightmares of her death. In one of these nights, he woke up terrified, fearful of losing her. As he watched her sleep peacefully, dwelling in dreams where--as he gave a peak--he was a part of them, Anakin grew concern.
What should I do to prevent these nightmares to become real?
The obvious answer seemed to be right in his face: get himself more powerful so he could protect her. But as the idea began to form, Katheryn woke up almost as if she sensed something was wrong.
“Ani? What’s wrong?”
Brought back to reality, Anakin turned again to her, eyes filled with concern when noticing he was the reason why she was awake. He took a seat by her side in bed and said:
“Nothing’s wrong, my love. Sleep, it is late”, said he, stroking her cheek.
Though tired she may had been, Katheryn’s heart said otherwise, pleding for her attention.
“I cannot sleep when I know you are unwell.” She gently took his hand into hers as she struggled to seat.
“I do not want stress you, my darling”.
Katheryn took her lover’s face between her hands and, as if she could read his eyes, what emotions were behind them, she softened and said:
“What is worrying you, my love? I pray God it is not me.”
She knew it was her. The fact she passed the age of 30 and was surprisingly pregnant after years and different marriages trying to give her former husbands children, could well be reason to be concerned to.
As if he read her mind, he furrowed his brows.
“I... I want you to be safe. I fear for you, I...”
Somehow fear went away when she looked into his eyes, those piercing blue eyes, so invitive, so loving...
“You have nothing to be afraid, my love. You gave me courage and love, and...” She smiled so blissfully that Anakin felt his darkness disappear. “...this. Our family. I thought I’d never be able to bear children, Ani. You changed my life. You are the angel the Lord sent me.”
Anakin wished he could tell her he was not, but seeing her beaming involved him in a new atmosphere, a new perspective.
As if inspired by Force, he leant his forehead against her and said:
“...and let there be light.”

Epilogue.
Despite Anakin’s deeply concerns for the safety of his wife in the childbirth proccess, these fears proved to be unfounded as Katheryn was safe and healthy and so were the twins she gave him.
“Twins!” he laughed merrily when taking a seat by her side in bed, not minding the midwives’s complaints. “Twins!”
He held them close to his chest, observed by a very emotional Katheryn. All she wanted was to be a mother and God heard her prayers by sending not only one, but two children.
“How should we name them?”, inquired Anakin.
“I was thinking Mary, after my stepdaughter, and as for a boy...”
“...Obi-Wan”, said he, thinking about his master.
Who was not very happy when being told of his pupil’s secretive marriage, but ended up being supportive and would soon come to make a visit to the new family.
All seemed to settle well for the Skywalkers of the Sudeley Castle, but as years went by and they were playing outside with lady Elizabeth and lady Jane under the watchful eye of Katheryn, lady Skywalker, Anakin felt a disturbance in the force. Obi-Wan, by then the family guest, felt it too.
“They have it from you”, said Obi-Wan with a smirk in his face. “Both of them.”
Anakin sighed.
“I haven’t told their mother just it yet... But...”
Obi-Wan put a hand around his pupil’s shoulder, still very thrilled for having his godson named after himself.
“I’d train him if you let me to. That’d be a great honor.”
So many plans to think about, but as Anakin soon joined the children to play and Obi-Wan smiled at what he gleefully saw, he could not help but wonder what their future would be. Considering the fate of England, should it be reason to concern that they might play an important role in it?
Leaving speculations aside, the Master Jedi was more than happy to see the happiness right where it should be: with a loving family that Anakin and Katheryn so long deserved it.
