daisuga probably was really annoying with like small/petty jealousy, like a girl would hit on one of them and the other would be standing behind their back making faces about it and mocking it and everyone else on the team just has to put up with it. and then theyre all overly sweet to each other to make up for the petty jealousy or some odd version of "winning them back" after the flirting event and the team is rolling their eyes *so hard*

i think asanoya is so annoying bc nobody can convince Asahi that Noya likes him. Like full stop. Eventually someone pulls him aside and is point blank like "Noya said he has a crush on you ask him out" and Asahi is just like: "Haha he was probably joking" and just leaves the scene. Like the absolute refusal to believe it from Asahi combined with Noya's classic teen boy inability to be sincere means that even after theyve both been told they somehow still havent gotten together??? how long is this going to take???

tsukkiyama probably ruins everyone's week the week before they get together bc one of them *saw* a confession letter stuck into the other's bag and absolutely went (emotionally) off the rails for the days leading up to them discovering it was for them.

I am fully of the camp that iwaoi start dating before they label it/make it official so the whole team is screaming like "PLEASE HAVE A CONVERSATION ABOUT IT" meanwhile Oikawa is saying "we just went on a few dates and kissed a few times it doesnt mean anything" and Iwa is in the background shouting "yeah I dont wanna be anyone's boyfriend that's lame" and then they wander off to go eat dinner together holding hands and the team is left in frustration because ALL they talk about is how theyre *not* in a relationship.

for bokuaka its mostly just Bokuto pestering every goddamn person he knows for like 4 months asking "do you think Akaashi likes me?" or "do you think he'd say yes if I asked him out?" and then one day making Konoha *snap* when he says "I need to tell you a secret" and the secret is that he has a crush on Akaashi as if nobody had known that

with ushiten I imagine Tendou was probably really obvious with his crush/interest but in like a very casual "not taking myself too seriously" kind of way so he's comfortable openly flirting, and Ushijima, against everyone's expectations, doesnt seem to mind the attention but is still who he is, so the whole team just has to put up with the most INSANE interactions. Like Tendou walks into the locker room and cat calls him and Ushijima just replies with a formal "thank you" and Semi is contemplating slamming his head in a locker. There's like 12 months of this.

okay okay but I think arankita is *very classic* in that Aran compensates for his crush by over-supporting Kita. so like the whole team gets super annoyed bc Aran wont risk disagreeing with him, is always offering to do extra work, is generally just sucking-up really badly and the twins suffer the most for this bc Aran used to just ignore their antics but now he's super annoyingly on them all the time to try and impress Kita

kuroken is a little different. Yaku asks Kuroo every single day if he's asked Kenma out yet. Lev asks Kenma if he has a crush on Kuroo every chance he gets. Fukunaga gives them a wink when they leave practice to walk home together. This is the only pairing in which the team is the irritant pre-relationship and then post-relationship everyone loses interest and moves on.

I'd include kagehina but once again the entire goddamn show is everyone putting up with them flirting so whats the point.

What do you think are Daichi and Sugawara’s greatest personality strengths and weaknesses? Why? What do you love about their dynamic?

No weaknesses, they're perfect in every way 🥹💓

Honestly I love that they have so much in common but in different ways, you know? Like they both show insecurity in Haikyuu, but express it and tackle it differently. Suga is insecure about Kageyama being better than him and forcing him out of his role that he was ALREADY feeling insecure about because of the match against Datekou where Asahi was repeatedly blocked out. He tries to run away from it, going meek and skittish while putting on a smile. Whereas Daichi's insecurity is very much an internal struggle about failure that gives him silly nightmares and nerves. But he faces it by powering through and shaking it off. He overcomes it by just... doing it. Trying harder. Maintaining his conviction that he's doing what he WANTS to do.

BUT the constant is how they support each other. When Suga's insecurity is showing itself, Daichi tells him he better stop or else he's gonna think about smackin' him. When Daichi's insecurity shows itself, Suga doesn't even warn him and gives him the quick one-two, right in the gut. It's very "you better stop or ELSE" in the most loving way possible, with Daichi unable to bring himself to hit Suga but Suga having zero problems with hitting Daichi. With Suga being the only one ALLOWED to hit Daichi.

I love that dynamic. Daichi wanting to treat Suga gently, while Suga shows his love with aggression. Daichi can be a total scary hardass with everyone else but he holds himself back with Suga. That's romantic. That's beautiful. That's classy. And Suga is a gremlin who punches him like he's his own personal punching bag. That's ROMANTIC.

I love how they're depicted as a pair. Even though they are a trio with Asahi or a quartet with Kiyoko, Daichi and Suga have a special relationship, teaming up to gang up on Asahi in almost perfect synchronization. They're so much alike, two peas in a pod. An unstoppable force of teasing affection.

Suga starts off as this gentle senpai figure who blossoms into a chaotic monster as he grows more comfortable with himself and his place. Daichi is steady, stable. From day one to the end of the series, Daichi is Daichi and he doesn't change much. He doesn't need to change much. His changes are subtle, confidence growing more secure with their success as a team.

I really dig the dynamic of a steady, strong tree and the beautiful flowering vines growing up its trunk and around its branches and that's DaiSuga to me.

As for favorites…I love the Nekoma boys, and my favorite ships are probably LevYaku and KurooTsukki, and I also love the tooth-rotting DaiSuga fluff, but I’ve written a ton and I’ve gotten a bunch of ships in there! one of my headcanons for post graduation haikyuu is that the third years + tanaka and noya end up as a very close friend group.

the biggest reasons for this are daisuga, asanoya, and tanakiyo are together. so between the third years being best friends and tanaka and noya being best friends, they end up just being adopted into the third years group.

I just love that two of the third years ended up dating each other, and the other two ended up with a pair of absolute morons that are best friends (and basically brothers). kiyoko and asahi looked at these idiots with one collective brain cell and went, “ah, we want these. bring them in.”

It's a milestone woooo so here is my favorite fic of all time!

Rec #10: bell, book, and candle - skittidyne Fandom: Haikyuu!! Rating: M Pairings: so many lol. daisuga, tsukkiyama, kuroken/bokuaka, iwaoi, ushiten, and kiyoyachi/kiyoyui drive the plot, but there are a lot more. essentially huge ensemble cast Word count: 762,902 (28 chapters) Summary (copied from fic): Sugawara Koushi, perpetually tired exorcist extraordinaire, spends most of his time now caring for his cat and doing banishment jobs for Kiyoko, and he's happy like that, he swears. Kozume Kenma, witch, law intern, and illegal summoner, has a plan; too bad it involves demons and angels and he's convinced he can only do it alone. Yamaguchi Tadashi, ex-normal high school student with a newfound lucky streak, discovers he has a ghost haunting him and the rest of his life is soon turned upside down as a result, but maybe he's not complaining. Together, they somehow stop an apocalypse. No, really. Other notes: this took me like three months to read but it was so so worth it. surprisingly few people (permanently) die for the impending-apocalyptic setting. if you like urban fantasy/sci-fi/eldritch horror and an obscene amount of sideplots, jump into this fic and it will take you for a wild ride! (the author also wrote a novel with this plot and original characters if you just can't get enough)

Hello! Also thank you for the very fun questions, this was great to answer!

I'll do the name first as it's a quicker response. redrocketpanda is a mash up of Red Rocket (as in the red rocket truck stop from Fallout 4) and Red Panda (as in the animal). The story behind those is that I had recently played Fallout 4 (and am a fan of the entire franchise) and have big heart eyes for the Fallout aesthetic, and that although *I* think I would be a lion if I was a non-human animal, some of my close friends + ex partner joke that I'd actually be a red panda (small, tries to be big but isn't scary, red)

I was informed recently (as in last year) that it can also have a different meaning depending on what subcultures you're in but I choose to ignore that bc I didn't know at the time lmao

In terms of the chunkier part of the question - top 10 favourite fics ever - I will admit that I've never read much fic outside of smut for Reasons (as such my list will be quite heavy on smut and kink so heads up for that). I would def like to read more but tend to write more than I read.

I have been working very hard for the past few months on a fic for the Daisuga Big Bang (Haikyuu!!). It is finally posting day! Set in the world of magic and soulmates that @auronevardell and I created (she is also the beta for this fic and every other fic I write). I also had the opportunity to work with two very talented artists, @birdghosting and Lisa/iielenia.

haikyuu ships but its things about their relationships or moments that I think would surprise their friends/teammates

starting off with my boys Daisuga: honestly definitely the rest of the team forgets that they haven't been together forever, and are never expecting when either of them are acting like, well, teenagers in a relationship. Specifically in regards to being shy in front of each other or wanting to impress each other, the rest of the team always is surprised by it because in their mind, like, why are you feeling insecure in this relationship I thought you've been dating for 2 years and Suga is just like "try 3 months BITCH now I need you to find out what his favourite kind of chocolate is I'll pay you real money if he doesnt realize why you're asking."

right along to Kagehina and honestly, literally even just realizing they have a normal relationship. I think everyone absolutely understands how they got together, but I imagine the first time ANYONE sees them out in public together they ALL have a moment thats like "oh shit they like... are actually dating" and every time Kagehina is just like... on a lunch date, or going shopping, walking a dog, just chatting. Like people are surprised that they genuinely spend time together outside of sports. The first time Kageyama goes with Hinata as his date to a family wedding the entire family is flabberghasted bc they definitely thought this was an on-court obsession only

Iwaoi is really simple, literally just people realizing that Iwaizumi has genuine romantic affection towards him is the funniest thing to me. There's a week where Iwaoi is worried bc Iwa had to go to school with a hickey on his neck but literally NOBODY bats an eye or even mentions it because "yeah Oikawa obviously-" but when theyre changing for practice and they see that Oikawa has a hickey on his neck the entire team goes feral and practically tackles Iwaizumi like "you committed to kissing him for that long?????? YOU?????" like they cannot comprehend Iwaizumi actively participating. (obviously this is also the only time they every see Iwazumi embarassed enough to visibly blush which only compounds things.)

Bokuaka's is so stupid but honestly - the first moment the team realizes that Akaashi is, like, attracted to Bokuto and isnt just his best friend that got carried away. Konoha catches Akaashi checking out Bokuto's ass as he's leaving the changing room and it legitimately ruins Konoha's day. What is he supposed to do with this information.

To be completely fair, Ushiten as a concept probably absolutely baffles the entire Shiratorizawa team for multiple reasons. I think though the obvious one is that the rest of the team cannot understand how little Ushijima is bothered by any of Tendou's antics, where Tendou is VRRY touchy and goofy and lots of PDA and affection and Ushijima is completely receptive and unbothered by it, if not going out of his way to intentionally make Tendou laugh to invite him to more. Like Tendou absolutely would sit on his lap during lunch and Reon would be sitting there losing his mind bc last time he sat too close to Ushijima he got a lecture on personal space. Oh, but now suddenly he's super chill and relaxed and nothing bothers him its tendou doing it.

Asanoya's is a little sad tbh but I think, specifically the second and first years, would be surprised by how serious Noya is about the relationship and how little he tolerates jokes about them being opposites/a surprising pair or any of that. Like theyre shocked to find out how seriously he's taking being a boyfriend and really trying to make sure Asahi is happy. The idea that it isnt superficial or just for fun for him is surprising to them.

Arankita - in a comedy of errors Atsumu accidentally finds out they they are ~no longer virgins~ and legitimately has to leave practice for 20 minutes. There's a piece of him, and the rest of the team, that had 100% believed Kita was a robot and they just.... the idea that this was something that happened organically and not for "procreation" doesnt fit in their worldview. Kita smacks the next person who brings it up and that ends the conversation.

Can I ask your top favorite fics that you've written (feel free how much that you want to list)? Why they're special to you? Is there a specific inspiration when you wrote them? Thanks....

Hmmmm let's see... I'll do top five. Generally I like ALL the fics that I've written (I wouldn't post something I didn't like, tbh)(even though some have been started and then completely abandoned RIP sorry to them) so it's kinda difficult to rank them, but here's my best whack at it:

Summer Rain- I really enjoy writing this fic. I love the massive cast and all the little storylines happening all at once. I know it's kinda on hiatus at the moment but I really do look forward to when I get back to writing it because I love thinking about how everything will eventually coalesce into the climax. Dropping off on cliffhangers is also a special indulgence of mine, even if it makes people angry 😈I started this one based off of an OLD original story idea i had once upon a time. I realized that it had a better chance of getting written if it was a daisuga fic, so here it is! Though it definitely went completely off the rails from the original plan.... (in a good way)

and the Emi goes to...- The DaiSuga dynamic in this one is probably one of my favorites. At this point everyone should know I LOVE slow burns and this one takes its sweet ass time. And as someone who hates the idea of being a parent myself, it's nice being able to live vicariously through the characters to get my fill of parenthood without ever having to have a kid lmao. My inspiration was "I want to write a single parent AU" and poof, there it was.

Let it Ride- Man I don't even know what it is about this fic but I adore it. I think Daisuga's relationship in it is just so... 😘👌 The childhood best friends who know everything about each other and are willing do to ANYTHING for one another, even give up the opportunity of a lifetime... just the sentiment of loving someone so much that you'd be happy struggling with them really takes me out, you know? It's about love but it's about like, too. They LIKE each other so much, what a pair! I got the idea to write it because I LOVE fake relationship AUs and I LOVE LOVE when the stakes are set at the highest setting, AKA Marriage.

Hard Times- Another fake dating AU because as previously mentioned I LOVE them. This one just checks so many boxes for me. Revenge? Crime? Sex? Comedy? Drama? More revenge? Closure? Catholicism? Sign me up! (as the writer I think I'm automatically signed up, but ya know.) I had a lot of fun writing it. And Radish made beautiful art for it so really, what's not to like? I don't remember what inspired it... I think I just wanted to write another fake dating scenario with a funny meet cute.

Open Tab- I feel like I'm obligated to put Open Tab on any list when it comes to my writing because it's the OG, ya know? It's the first fic that got me deep into the Haikyuu fandom and I gotta appreciate it for that reason alone. We've been through a lot together, me and good ol OT. The only hate mail I ever got was on Open Tab. The thrill of it all... I had so much fun writing it. And while right now it's definitely a bit of a pain in my ass, trying to get the motivation to continue it, I can't erase all the good times we had together. I owe it a lot! Someday it will finally be over and I'm both dreading and looking forward to that day. My inspiration was alcoholism. Drink responsibly, kids.
