any tips on how to not want to fucking kill your self in your organic chemistry lab appreciated

#i started having a panic attack earlier in my lab fucking just holding a flask of methane and trying not to cry #i hate chemistry labs so much i hate them i hate them i hate them i hate them #i don’t mean this to be self deprecating but i am NOT intelligent enough to be handling extremely dangerous chemicals #not that i’m stupid because i’m not but i have a hard time thinking before i act and #that’s a problem in a fucking chemistry lab #never mind the fact that my chem lab is after 5 fucking hours straight of classes without eating #i have 10.5 hours of class/lab all with only 10 min breaks between them but they’re on complete opposite ends of campus #i run across campus liek 4 times a day in tuesdays #i don’t have time to eat so by the time i get to my orgo lab i’m a fucking mess

#im tired of people learning an equation and tapping into the speed force bring back the good ol days of huffing vapors #my old orgo prof used to tell us stories in class about his various lab accidents #his lab partner accidentally made cyanide gas once and then he breathed it in and passed out #apparently cyanide smells like freshly cut grass so there u go #he accidentally poisoned himself with fluoroacetic acid (rat poison) that he was using for synthesis because he wasnt fucking wearing gloves #he also fucking flashburnt his eyeballs once and the doctors gave him coke eyedrops #there was another time someone like? spilt chemicals on his pants and he had to take them off bc it was like. acid or some shit but he wasnt #wearing underwear that day so he had to choose between losing his weenus or being bareass naked in the lab sink #against all odds my old chem prof is perfectly fine btw

Thinking about how Sir Haydn (Sir Handel's basis) was made by taking the best parts of the three original Falcons that ran the Corris Railway...

I don't think this happened for Sir Handel in the RWS or the TV series, but just imagine the story potential of Sir Handel also being an amalgamation of engines.

Obviously there's been more than enough instances where engines are overhauled or simply have parts replaced, but I think being an amalgamation might work a bit differently. Rather than simply getting new parts that were never associated with another engine, multiple sentient beings are being whittled down to one.

If Sir Handel were reconstructed from the parts of three other engines, would he be a new consciousness entirely? Or was he also one of the original "Falcons"? How would that have been? Knowing that your two other siblings, whom you've worked with since birth, would be sacrificed to make you a "better" engine? Would Sir Handel remember? Would he choose to forget? To forget how he alone was selected out of his siblings to live? Would he find comfort in the fact that they would live on forever as parts of him? On the other hand, what if Sir Handel hated his siblings? Knowing now that he can never be free from them because of what he himself is made of?

i might be shooting myself in the foot by saying this when i still have a few weeks left in the semester but tbh i think organic chemistry is easier than gen chem

#orgo is more difficult in the sense that they expect more from you because you're at a more advanced level #but the actual concepts are not very hard #gen chem was HELLLL for me. i literally repeated both 1 and 2 twice #there was so much MATH #meanwhile in orgo i've only pulled my calculator out once #it's mostly memorization and theory #that's my specialty baby

#was teaching some girl intro bio today and was like damn wld be easier if she took orgo #which obviously. there are no prereqs for nor shld there be #but like! #its unbelievable my molecular bio class doesnt require it how are u understanding the material in any significant way without that knowledge #Not even bio/chem tho i think everyone needs it #like most people get their general chem in high school but dont go beyond that and thus dont have an appreciation of the fundamental #building blocks of life. #broke: everyone shld take a financial literacy class #woke: everyone should take organic chemistry #meanwhile id rather kms then take any classes useful for everyday life
