i really like how canonically yuu is genuinely supportive of grim wanting to be a great mage. if i recall correctly, even character voice lines point this out. and it seems like yuu dotes on grim a lot and defends him too??? yuu even encourages grim's ambitions whenever he declares wanting to be a great mage. and also when he does that boss-henchhuman dynamic. i mean yeah you can interpret it as yuu saying that being condescending and sarcastic as if they're talking to a child saying "when i grow up i want to be famous!" but like. i really think they're genuine when mc loves grim in their own way.
even if grim is usually a menace, he's become like family to yuu.
and i'm pretty sure grim feels the same way.
think about it this way. despite all the mess, all the unpredictability, the danger, and all the drama being in nrc. what's always the constant? yuu goes home at the end of the day to the ramshackle dorm (basically their home at this point considering they slowly but surely fix it up over time) and with who? “the great mage” grim. as the sole outcasts in that academy, they both sleep soundly knowing they will always have each other at the end of the day.

Something I’ve been thinking about lately is that small moment in “Air Turtle” where immediately after the Daves lose yet another game, Leo says how sorry he is and how he’s doing his best as the mascot. This moment is so short but it’s honestly jam-packed with a whole heap of characterization.
His need to apologize for things clearly not his fault - especially when it feels like he messes up the job he was given despite doing the best he can (the phrase “it’s not about you” takes a new meaning when this is one of the lessons to be learned from that - that he is not always solely responsible for things going wrong), his need to save face and make a connection with an older adult man in his life (something he consistently does throughout the series - he’s got a few daddy issues, always collecting potential father figures, it’s no wonder he jumps at the bit to keep rapport), and the way he sounds and looks and the words he chooses really pushes how he is just a kid (“Mr. the Dunk, I’m so sorry”).
Like I know it’s a one off moment that doesn’t truly mean much, but when put against the rest of the series it works really well with the rest of Leo’s established character and helps in solidifying later concepts as well.

i hope yellowjackets never gives a clearcut answer vis a vis the whole "how much of it is the supernatural and how much of it is the trauma" question, but like, at this point my best guess for tai is that she physically has a screw loose in the most literal sense possible. like something is not right up there. and i don't even mean in the mental illness sense, they're all deeply traumatized and different shades of mentally ill at this point, but like- this degree of sleepwalking, and dissociating, and losing time? it's giving neurological damage, it's giving uniquely horrible and very strange form of traumatic brain injury. like that plane crash knocked something Loose i swear to god

As much as I obsess over the idea of comforting P03...
Challenger being really tired and depressed and it all comes to a head when they lose yet another game of inscryption to P03, and they just break down apologizing and crying.
P03 quickly stops gloating about his win, concerned, and floats over to check on them. The challenger hasn't slept properly in days, and can't remember the last time they ate anything. P03 floats them back to their small, little room.
It ends with the challenger curled up in several blankets and laying on P03, as he pets them with his claw and softly hums to them. The challenger doesn't know what's going to happen to them, if they will ever get better. But they do know that atleast in this moment, they are now safe.
P03 doesn't really mind the several hours of them sleeping on him, he's just glad that they are okay now. He's definitely going to (try) and make some food for them when they awaken, they've helped them so many times... it's only fair he repays the favor.

This is the first time I’m hearing that “X walked so that Y could run” meant one was worse. I thought it meant one was first and set the pavement for the other to go/happen. So you’re definitely not alone in that.
Dude its straight up haunting me im sitting here like "please say sike. please say sike RN that CANNOT be what it means." going to be sitting up thinking abt this for the next two business weeks straight /hj
