in the eight issue you will see...

how hyolyn is viewed by her seniors and juniors: the male idols see her as someone who brings the older generations back in one way or another, perhaps they feel that nostalgia from that time via hyolyn herself. they appreciate her for her versatility and talents. the female idols on the other hand see her as very impactful woman, they might idolise her in one point or another. i can see the other female idols see hyolyn as someone who is destined to be a trendsetter in some way, or to change her industry. they also appreciate her balanced personality.

seventeen, bts bond: overall their bond (between the two groups) is individual by its own and i can see that some members are more close than others (like jungkook and mingyu). both groups can be accepted as quite close while not communicating often (obviously why) in my opinion.

evnne career reading (until march 24'): they have the chance to become more relevant, possibly on tiktok or another social media. i do see someone shining more than the rest of the boys, possibly an earth sun sign idol /jeonghyeon, seungeon/.

cha eunwoo, ideal type: someone real. he seems to be into these people who are authentic to their true self, no matter if he likes their personality fully or not. he might be into these type of smart people who know what and when they have to do everything when it's needed. someone who's organized by schedule if that's possible and also very chill. i do see some distinctive things such as weaker immune system (might have to wear warmer clothes in fickle or colder weather, i do imagine them wearing hats, bigger scarfs and puffer jackets around that time), making long skincare routines (possibly due to their skin, if it's more sensitive), being more emotional (like raw emotions all over themselves when they share everything surrounding themselves to eunwoo) only in front of him but have an emotionless face in front of other people, adventures (like bungee jumping!). possibly manager/ceo or similar job, related to (some sort of) leadership.

onlyoneof rie, ideal type: in the most positive way possible, i see rie is into these type of people who are struggling, like literally (mental, physical, financial even). i've seen similar things for other idols (that they see someone who's struggling as their ideal type) and as long i try to be as neutral as possible, rie is just the most optimistic out of all of them. he literally wants to be the "superman" in their eyes, like a psychologist, consult or dietolog. he seems to be into people who can be their best version of themselves when they're by his side. i am not sure if these thoughts of him are healthy or toxic, but i feel he is geniune and means well. he wants to be useful for someone and more or less to find his purpose of life. so overall keywords, he doesn't care about specific traits, he just wants to be by their side, no matter if they're good or bad.

jude bellingham, ideal type: someone whose life is very dynamic (similar to his, so possibly in the same or as public environment as his), who is very honest and doesn't sugarcoat everything they say. i don't see anything else but they can be in the law field or doing everything very fast too.

what svt mingyu feels towards jeon somi: very hopeful, very nice feelings from what i see and feel. mingyu seems to like somi a lot (i'll let other speculations be as what it is because it can be both options) and would really like to be at least very good friends. he seem to believe they would match!!

ateez, general reading: not that well as it seems, the boys seem to be in some form of isolation, i personally think that dramatic moment that I saw had happened, it looks like it's another thing though, I remember sunny (from X) has said that a producer or someone from the company, cannot remember, might depart from kq and it looks like it or similar thing has happened because ateez seem to be very dependant on that person, nothing else

yunho ateez, ideal type: basically, ✨the dream girl✨. i don't see any significant traits except optimistic, positive, dreamy, very romantic, like it feels like it's too obvious.

onlyoneof mill, ideal type: similar as jude bellingham, mill is possibly into people who are brutally honest, true to themselves (maybe less than eunwoo if i have to compare) but also very persistant, stubborn too i'd say at some point. alao innocent, clever, similar qualities and traits

what jungkook thinks of the drama uk army did: i believe he is indifferent and doesn't care. i can see that he thinks positively about that because he believes this brings more success to seventeen as a group.

zb1, 2024 career: at some point it will backfire the relevance they'll build with the time - from this uuuuup to this loooooow. i can see that it will be very great in the beginning but until the end, it will be worse than the beginning.

gunwook's relevance after 2nd comeback (the request was after crush era but since it passed when i asked, i modified it): probably the same as previous eras (only relevant to these who bias him). his popularity is unstable and might not work as expected but it definitely won't be enough, he seems to be not appreciated enough from netizens :(

update, hao's career after zb1: quite dynamic, he will still leave yuehua, but after that, nothing else, whatever the fate is for him, it will happen. i still see the same shit, i am sorry :((

The six members of this boy group whose name unashamedly means "being someone's one and only" charm onlookers with their sexy dance skills and emotional singing. We went looking for their true faces.

KB: To have been able to come to Japan and meet Japanese lyOns (OnlyOneOf fans) directly. I'm so happy to have been able to see everyone at last!

Yoojung: When I'm eating Japanese convenience store desserts. I love desserts with fresh cream. They're different from the ones in Korean convenience stores, and there's a lot more of them in Japan. When I eat something delicious I feel happy!! And at peace.

What do you call each other?

Yoojung: I call him "Kyu"! Right?

KB: Right, "Yoo"! (laughs) We call each other by our first syllables.

Tell us about an episode that deepened your relationship.

Yoojung: We're often paired together in songs and music videos, so…

KB: Right, you can say it's a business relationship. (laughs)

Yoojung: What, no it's not! We really are close!!

KB: That sounds suspicious somehow. (laughs)

Yoojung: But it's true!! Our friends and family are always like, "Wow, you two get along so well ~"

KB: We even watched Netflix together yesterday ~

Rie: I love watching the Japanese scenery go by from the window of a moving car. I also love the city atmosphere, seeing those sights makes me feel peaceful and happy. And of course, eating delicious Japanese foods makes me happy.

Junji: I also love the drives in Japan. The special sights heal your heart. And also, the draft beer is delicious in Japan no matter what!! I was moved by how delicious it is. Drinking draft beer is absolutely a happy time!

What do you call each other?

Rie: Junji.

Junji: Rie. Simple as that.

Tell us how you feel about your relationship.

Junji: Rie is so kind. Even in Japanese, when there's something I don't know, he'll explain it to me properly. By thinking about choreography together we got closer, during those times he'd also teach me thoroughly until I could do it. He's got such an easy to get along with personality, I respect it.

Rie: Junji gives off such a soft impression, and he's always so kind. And his face is cute, so just looking at him makes you feel happy! (laughs)

Is there something you'd like to do to get even closer?

Junji: Rie loves fishing, I'd like to go together and exchange more deeply!

Rie: I really want to go fishing together one day.

Something that fills your heart with peace?

Mill: Japanese sights are healing. The sceneries are beautiful, and the sights during our concert were also beautiful. And what made me happiest was to be able to meet Japanese lyOns face to face. To be able to do a concert in Japan and meet lyOns made me so happy I could cry.

Nine: Right now, the Japanese concert is the best thing. We haven't been able to go to Japan since our debut. We were so happy to have been able to see our Japanese lyOns singing, dancing and laughing!

What do you call each other?

Mill: I generally call him Nine.

Nine: "Yongsoo" or "Soo-ya". I call Mill by his real name. Soo-ya ~

How do you feel when you're both together?

Mill: Nine is the only one in the group who's the same age as me, so he's irreplaceable in that I can connect with him without reserve. Thinking about choreography together is always a fun time too.

Nine: When I'm with Mill, I can't stop laughing. We're laughing nonstop!! I talk a lot, but Mill talks even more than me and always makes me laugh. Everything about him makes me laugh: words, attitude, body…

Mill: (laughs)!! We also have similar hobbies like sports and going to the movies, so the time we spend together is so fun. Last time we went shooting and I lost, so I want my revenge.

Nine: We sleep in the same room in the dorms as well. Our relationship is the result of all the time we've spent together, so I'll leave it to the flow from here on as well. (laughs)

What are your roles in the group?

KB: I'm the eldest brother of the group, and I also write songs.

Yoojung: I dance, and I'm in charge of maintaining OnlyOneOf's gentle image.

Nine: I compose, and I'm the moodmaker.

What do you think OnlyOneOf's charm points are?

KB: That our works have a clearly-defined concept, that our songs go from intense to delicate, and that they reflect the members' points of view. Nine participated in both the composition and lyrics of "suit dance".

Nine: Right! We'll be happy if lots of people buy our CD and listen to our music.

Yoojung: In "suit dance", there's a dance move where we take a handkerchief out of our breast pockets… We failed at it many times. But the hardest was the scene where Nine takes off and places back Junji's jacket!

Nine: It was hard! One time I couldn't grab it, and danced as though I was holding it.

Yoojung: The jackets were sticky with sweat. But Nine's "pantomime" was excellent and I could see the jacket even though it wasn't there. (laughs)

KB: He was really good. I enjoyed it as a viewer too.

Your dancing has a lot of shine.

Yoojung: Maybe because it reflects our members' specific presences and auras?

KB: It's because we're good-looking! (laughs)

Yoojung: It's a job where we charm people. We become popular by being aware of our appearances from the start.

KB: But Nine doesn't seem to particularly care…

Nine: Huh!?

KB: I think what leads to popularity is an environment where everyone has their respective strengths but can exchange feedback.

Nine: We're very close, so we're good at feedback.

KB: It's because we've lived together such a long time.

Nine: But I don't sleep in the same room as KB? I'm in the "fun room" with Mill and Rie. They're in the… Sleep-talking room. (laughs)

KB: I'm the type who doesn't mind sleep-talking. (laughs)

Yoojung: This is who we are.

You're also popular on social media!

Nine: I'm always monitoring, on the lookout for trends.

KB: My social media style is future-oriented. I take pictures wearing alien clothes.

Nine: Alien, was it… (laughs)

Yoojung: My social media specialty is self-deprecating content where I make people laugh with my expressions. I think it's funniest.

So what are OnlyOneOf's goals now?

KB: To continue coming out with a better work than the previous one with each release, and to become number one. It's a tough path, but that's why it's our goal. For our first Japanese concert everyone was so kind, and we're thankful for this dreamlike moment. We'll make sure to return all those blessings!

Yoojung: The goal is to always grow! The next time we come to Japan, I want to be able to talk in Japanese.

Nine: We'll do our best to express in our performances how thankful we are for everyone! And we'll become the best artists, no matter the field!!

Junji: Mill is a crybaby! Every time he sees lyOns he starts crying.

Mill: Rie is so cool on stage whether he dances or raps, he's a big brother you can respect, but when he gets off stage he's a baby. (laughs)

Rie: Junji has a very sexy voice, is good at singing and dancing, he's a perfect artist on stage, but when he gets off stage he's also a baby. (laughs) Everyone is pure and free.

What are your positions in the group?

Mill: I bring sweetness and jokes.

Rie: Mill is like Shin-chan in Crayon Shin-chan!

Junji: People say I'm a cat-like person.

Mill: He really has the personality of a cute cat!

Rie: I'm comfortable and soft.

Junji: Rie really has a good, kind personality, so everyone likes him.

Your favourite food in Japan?

Rie: Gyuukatsu and Ichiran ramen! Also Japanese cup ramens are really elaborate and delicious. And I want to try seafood dishes in Tsukiji [famous Tokyo fish market].

Mill: Me too, when I ate gyuukatsu and ramen it was delicious to the point of passing out.

Junji: Gyuukatsu and draft beer!!

Mill: Beer is delicious!

Do you have a favourite Japanese word or sentence?

Rie: "Could I ask for a towel?" "Would it be possible to clean up now?" (laughs)

Junji: I really like "I'm so happy".

Mill: "_ shika katan" ["_ is the best", slang phrase that's also part of stan lingo]

Tell us about something that happened while creating your Japanese debut song, "suit dance (Japanese ver.)"

Rie: We wanted to pick a song that would fit a performance in suits, while aiming for a simple yet adult feeling.

Mill: OnlyOneOf has a lot of intense songs, and while this one is quieter, it's also an adult song where you can feel intensity hidden inside.

Junji: When we heard it, we thought of inserting a dance using jackets. The jacket dance between Nine and I is a highlight!

Rie: There's a lyric that goes, "Get lost into me just a little more, I'll whisper in your ear Listen up, Come and sink deeper." The vocals are very heartrending.

Junji: The lyrics I sing, "Your very gait is off, Like you've got all the time in the world Lay back, So detached as always" are very visual so I like them a lot.

Mill: I love both the melody and the feel of the lyrics of the "suit dance, suit dance" part.

So what are OnlyOneOf's goals now?

Junji: We were so happy to debut in Japan, so we want to become artists who can progress even more and make everyone happy.

Rie: The Japanese concert was such a happy time, I'd like to be able to perform at Tokyo Dome one day.

Mill: To work hard to make and sing many good songs so that OnlyOneOf's songs can be known throughout the world. lyOns, please support us! We love you!!

Hi! I was reading one of your posts about Age and it’s influence in BL. I noticed you mention ZeeNuNew pairing feeling a bit too much. I def agree! While I watched and enjoyed Why R U? The dynamic in Cutie Pie felt sooo intensely dominating from Zee. Not that I have any issue with that but his dynamic with NuNew and the execution of the plot wasn’t my jam so I DNF. Anyways you also mentioned MewGulf mishandled that similar dynamic and that’s part of what went wrong with their branding with a worry about the same thing possibly happening with ZeeNew. Could you elaborate? Disclaimer: I’m not trying to get into the drama of it all I’m just genuinely curious bc there’s something about ZeeNuNew that I can’t put my finger on that isn’t vibing to me. Maybe it’s bc I don’t watch much bts or interviews so I don’t know what their dynamic is like but Even the promos for their up coming knight and Prince series gives me the same oppressive dominating feel to me, where I didn’t get that sense from ZeeSaint. I understand those are very different series though. from what I’ve seen of their acting pairing in Cutie Pie and some content floating around, i agree their dynamic feels like a lot and I wonder how that could translate into a deterioration of their branded pairing. I don't really like to gossip about the pairs.

The wigging you are getting from ZeeNew I also got from MewGulf.

Pure unadulterated speculation as to why I personally get wigged out?

It seems to happen when one half of the pair is both significantly older AND also significantly more experienced (in the entertainment industry) than the other one. And then they are encouraged to pair brand a ship. The older performer already has social clout by virtue of his age, but when he's also the bigger name and more experienced entertainer, this hands him significant professional clout as well. The result reads as very dominating and domineering, but in interviews and on screen.

I don't know if it reads this way because it's combined with IRL shipping so it reads almost like a non-codified socio-professional D/s relationship. Or if it's just me being utterly disgusted by IRL shipping culture in general and getting wigged out by this particular extreme of a power dynamic. Or if it's just that I, with a very individualistic upbringing, am freaked out by the implications of this power dynamic on the actors involved (especially the younger one) both as brands, and as professionals, and in their emotional wellbeing and identity.

There is a tiny edge of this to SamYu as well, for example, although things are different in Taiwan around pair shipping, but still Sam was both older and way more experienced and well known than Yu.

When Zee was paired with Saint, he was older but Saint had way more acting experience, so Zee was more differential to him for that reason.

Skipping over to Korea, the Parks have a huge age gap but about the same experience in terms of Kpop/entertainment industry, and were both new to acting, so that made a difference to their dynamic I think.

Plus Korea doesn't really ship the BL pair (within Kpop groups, sure). The Kissable Lips boys are pair branding, but that's entirely their own choice. (This is why some of us worry over OnlyOneOf a lot.)

Also, I have to assume personalities are also involved.

I don't know these boys personally, so I'd never make assumptions, but in interviews Zee has alway read as a dominating personality (as did Mew), where as Sam comes off as more jocular and easy going, and Park Seo Ham as your classic reserved Korean gentleman. And I am speaking to the older boys in this matter because they tend to take point and lead interviews, or be deferred to to answer first etc... That's normal behavior in age=status societies, it's how the individuals ACT around that power that says something about the attitude/behavior of the actor.

What kpop Japanese comeback is your favourite and why?

First of all, yes All In!! Me and cousin always go crazy with that song. An absolute fave of mine.

But ofc, I have more, I absolutely really love japanese comebacks, they're really fun and remind me of my more heavy anime phase.

Some japanese comebacks I come back to a lot are:

Cix's Pinky Swear, the whole album is so good but Pinky Swear's sweetness and Wondering's positivity really have me coming back to it. Wondering is absolutely addicting.

Twice's &Twice, it's so happy and positive and Fake and True's instrumental is so good plus the lyrics, man! Breakthrough also goes so hard, my gosh. Be Ok <3

I really like the message of accepting bad times and still moving forward, giving no room for doubt that you can. Twice really nails that energy in a comforting way.

Also literally like, any of OnlyOneOf's songs in their hybrid Korean + japanese form and omg literally rn I saw they have Suit Dance in japanese??? And now a new song in the likes of Seamless Mind? Omfg

They sound so smooth ahhhhhh

angel is also so good in japanese, the quality does not change no matter what. My only compliant is that Time Leap deserves to be in japanese,it would so work. I'd pay anything for it.

I also have an affinity for any GG song, Girls Generation always deliver, but I really like Mr. Taxi, it's so freaking catchy. Oh! Is such a good song too, so the japanese version absolutely hits too (still so cute and bubbly). Galaxy Supernova just, girl anthem. Paparazzi? Powerful. Anything they do, iconic. The power they hold.

Now, songs I really replay a lot are A.C.E's japanese ones. All I Want is You, a nice song about that acts like a promise, slow, earnest and soft in all the right ways. Deserves everything.

My lover however is energetic, upbeat and yet, still absolutely perfect. I cannot stress how much I'd love a whole album of japanese songs from them. I miss them ahhh

Txt's Drama was meant to be in japanese, the fact in the mv they have haikyuu's Karasuno lookalike uniforms only makes it better. Their song Everlasting Shine is also amazing, pure, clean and so blinding. Fantastic, so fitting to be an anime opening.

That's about the one's I can think of, however The Boyz did come with "She's the Boss" very recently and I'm looking forward for the whole album itself. She's the Boss is really nice, energetic and interesting.

The guys make fun of Mill for being whipped, but he takes it in stride

You balance out the affection by roasting each other alive at every opportunity, even in public

He gets butthurt over third-wheeling with Love and Nine during group activities so he comes to you for comfort

Whether it’s with your head on his chest or him leaning against you, he just feels comfier that way

When things get more serious, you notice that Nine listens to you

He hears everything you say and responds to it in kind, respecting your ideas and feelings

That being said, he’s also a mischievous person

OnlyOneOf ‘Dot Point Jump’ Album Review

A dark horse remains in the shadows until they find the perfect moment to burst onto the scene and showcase what they have — and OnlyOneOf seems to be the dark horse of the new generation’s rookies. They have proven to be quite a capable group, as well as distinct from the rest of their competition. A lot of the time people cite only “savanna” as a good release even though this entire album has quite a few unique and outstanding songs. In a similar manner to Loona (who also had Jaden Jeong as their creative director), they impress with their title but excel in keeping the people interested through their b-sides. 01. “OnlyOneOf You” With “OnlyOneOf You” they make a very pleasant intro into the album, although it’s not short, as most intros are, it’s really easy on the ears while also incorporating the standard electro tunes found in a lot of other K-Pop intro tracks. The singing isn’t jaw-dropping but it’s very stable and calming with an easy-going type of feeling throughout. It showcases their modern sound while also making a distinction between members with all of them singing in their preferred tone. I wish the final chorus was more outstanding, because as it is, it builds up well and then just continues in the same way as the other two did. This isn’t a giant con, but it definitely caught my attention.

Rating: 4/5 02. “Time Leap” As the title suggests, “Time Leap” pays homage specifically to early 2000s music, with a garage band type of sound being implemented. It is a nice homage but it also takes a lot from the original, with the song itself not feeling very unique but instead sounding dated. The rappers get more of a showcase in “Time Leap”, which is nice as their rapping is fairly good. Their attempts at unison throughout the song vary from ok to pretty bad, which could also be attributed to bad mixing but the parts weren’t very enjoyable nonetheless. I found myself nodding my head while listening, despite the many flaws, and the track having this rare retro sound also gives it points on my side.

Rating: 3/5 03. “Savanna” Now this is how you debut a rookie group. You give them a title track that stands out from everything else currently on the market, and make it so that even the people listening aren’t sure what to think. The first time you listen to this song, it might sound off-tune or like it’s all over the place, but every consequent listen gives you another piece of the puzzle and lets you enjoy it more. The song perfectly showcases the savanna theme through tropical sounds, slow singing and a high-tempo beat. These three things combined, specifically with the boys solid singing in a very relaxed matter, allow me to imagine myself travelling through the savanna, admiring the tall grass and beautiful wildlife. Something that must be mentioned is how well the melody instills the feeling of serenity without boring the listener.

Rating: 4.5/5 04. “Blossom” Recently, many groups have been doing the bloom/blossom/flowering theme and this is very similar to them. Fortunately, the rap line have time to shine again with more rapping all-around, their parts also serve as a contrast to the happy-go-lucky singing in the rest of the song. This song seems to suffer from bad mixing and too many sounds overlapping, which overloads the ears at times. The only real thing that differentiates this from other similarly themed tracks is how aggressive it is in showcasing the blossoming, this aggressiveness also ends up having a lot of screetching and lacking an actual highlight moment to enjoy.

Rating: 2/5 05. “Picasso” Artistic is the main theme of this song, showing off their sexy side through artistic expression and mixing their voices with a deep bass to emphasize individual voices. Having a backing echoing synthesised melody keeps the song feeling relaxed and smooth sounding. All of their voices go well with low-tempo songs, and with their voices periodically being edited, it pulls you further into the song and its cool vibe. The arrangement of the song is pretty good as well, with it shifting the melody very nicely while also keeping their voices balanced.

Rating: 4/5 06. “Fragile” Once again, the song follows its theme perfectly. The opening piano sounds beautiful, and the hushed lead-in ideally builds up the chorus. The drop itself, besides being so well timed, has the addition of a very melodic phrase sung in a way that stimulates your ears. It’s so sudden and catches the listener's attention immediately, without having to rely specifically on an increase in volume. The theme of being fragile, and the sudden shift in sound fit so nicely with one another. Although it might seem like quite a simple thing to do, it’s quite creative and worthy of high praise. I really can’t overstate how much I enjoyed this song, definitely my favorite of the album.

Rating: 5/5 If you're interested in listening to this album, check it out on Spotify, or the dot point jump playlist on YouTube. The album follows each of the individual tracks themes to a T. It really shows that a lot of effort was put into making these tracks. While every song may not be a masterpiece, the majority of the tracks are quite enjoyable. I have to say this album is really a hidden gem in a plethora of other albums that, a lot of the time, aren’t as colorful and flavorful as this one is.

I'm lowkey gonna be a bit dissapointed if we end up with hella chan tiddies this cb cause yeah they're great and all or whatever but it doesn't really feel like skz anymore atp. like font get me wrong, I still love the music and I'll support them till the end but I really got INTO INTO skz cause all their music followed the general theme of being powerful and overcoming everything. while I'm glad they're branching out and exploring more mature themes now it feels a bit forced at some points. like with song camp, hyunchan song is all everyone is talking about like at all, but I was really looking forward to our summer song the most before I opened Twitter and saw that literally no one else was talking about it. I think to some degree they understand that they have a large older audience and they want to cater to them, but they're being a little reckless in how they abandon their previous theme. my brain is holding onto cheese so hard rn cause it feels the most skz-esque rn, of them yelling at those who don't like them and basically telling them they aren't affected, that they can hate all they want and they'll keep doing well anyways. THATS the type of energy I think of when I think of skz songs and I feel like when alot of newer stays think of them all they're going to see is hyunchan in chains and Chris tiddies yk?

Its just that yknow I feel that there needs to be a context for skin to be exposed. Like it's so clear they're doing it just for the need to do it rather than the concept fitting it at all, like they realised someday that chan’s chest was getting them higher numbers and they're just milking it to whatever extent they can.

Honestly at the same time, mature concepts don't need to have nudity in any ways yknow. Like onlyoneof’s libido. There is some level of skin exposition in it but it totally fits the song (it's literally called libidO) and the aesthetic and it just works. Here,,,, it just doesn't. I think they're outgrowing their stray kids phase as they're getting older but like you said, I think they're abandoning their image a bit recklessly. Yes, having a wide variety of content that caters to different sects and groups is good, and honestly I don't mind that they added a song with a mature theme in the album. I just hope that's not ALL they do. :/ Like I don't want them to rely on skin exposition and sexiness to get clicks instead of their music and their concept, but I don't think that will be the case, I trust skz will do good no matter what <3
