Ok so I have a few of questions.
How would the Evil League of Mutants (and by extension, the rooftop scene in the Bug Busters episode) go? Would Draxum still say he created the turtles and/or would outright say they're Lou Jistu's kids? Would he admit (or allude) to them that they weren't always turtles?
I know in the master post of this au it said that most of the series would remain unchanged, but with the late spider yokai puberty starting to show and how it mentioned by the time the episode Many Unhappy Returns, Big Mama would put the pieces together and realize that the turtles are her lost boys. In somewhat of a follow-up question, would Big Mama try and track down Draxum in revenge for what he did to her children?
And to wrap this up before I start rambling too much, would the turtles ever question why or how exactly they have new spider traits, and how long would it take them to track it back to Big Mama, if they ever do?
Alright!
So as far as Barron Draxum is concerned, he believes he did create them so the rooftop "Bug Buster" scene and the "Evil league of mutants" Scene would go unchanged. He honestly doesn't care if they started as 'humans' or turtles, he turned them into what they are now, therefore he created them. He probably wouldn't allude to the fact they were human first simply because it's not important to him.
Yes, i had said it wouldn't change much before the idea of the spider yokai puberty, (which would begin to show itself a bit after Bug Busters, and be in full swing probably after BullHop(full swing meaning 'oh something is definitely up', not full grown appendages yet. Specifically as far as Leo and Donnie go. Their arms take a while to grow and they'd still be small enough to hide until probably Battle nexus ny.)) um...oh yeah, with the spider yokai puberty being added in, it still doesn't change a whole lot. It just adds some things to the main goings on (and some things inbetween.) But yeah, Big Mama would definitely be able to put the pieces together by "Many unhappy returns" even if Leo was keeping his arms hidden/out of the way. It would be hard for her not to when 1)the boys remind her so much of her kids already, and 2) Lou is right there, claiming one of them lol.
As for Big Mama's thoughts on Draxum post child revelation, she may actually try to track him down. It was one thing when she thought Lou took their boys, but this yokai not only kidnapped her children, but mutated them along with her significant other, ultimately forcing all five to not return to her. She would be livid once all that comes to light.
And last but not least, Yes. The boys do end up questioning why they're suddenly having spider traits! It's about the time that it becomes obvious they're developing (specifically Donnie being in a lot of pain when his arms first start growing. That's about when they realized something was weird.) they ask Splinter what's going on but other than telling them this is normal for them (all while looking like he's seen a ghost) he tells them nothing. So they slowly put the pieces together themselves, maybe even finding their last human portrait buried deep in Splinter's Do Not Touch cabinet. And eventually, Leo overhears Splinter and Big Mama talking before the "Many unhappy returns" battle, specifically her saying "Where did you hide our sons?" and it just...clicks.
I guess that would mean Leon is the first to realize they're related, even before Big Mama does. Well, i did say he's the clever one lol.
Anyways, thank you! This was very helpful! I hadn't thought of a lot of these points yet : )

The Ink Demonth 2023 - Day 6. Machine
Tumblr media
Day 6. Machine Crossover: Scooby-Doo, Where Are You? (and later series) "Scooby-Dooby-Doo, where are you? We got some work to do now. Scooby-Dooby-Doo, where are you? We need some help from you now." I cannot wait for the scene when they take Sammy's mask off :3 I'd watch an episode like that. Btw. in case anyone is wondering, Shaggy checks whether bacon soups are 20 or 50 years after expired, because it depends on whether he decides to heat them before eating or not :D
Am I a fan of Scooby-Doo? Well... yes and no. As a little kid, I loved the show, I even had VHS tapes of the episodes... But then my lil brother got hooked on it and watched it so obsessively that I hated the whole show (especially since his favourite was that damn Scrapy-Doo, so he was tormenting me episodes with him, and Scooby-Doom, the other son of the b*ch, which I hate). However, I still enjoyed the full-length movies, and to this day I still enjoy watching some of them (for example: "Scooby-Doo! and the Reluctant Werewolf" or "Scooby-Doo! in Where's My Mummy?..." by the way, the former was made in the year of my birth, so he's older than me, yay!) But then came the era of weird Scooby-Doo series that delighted me again and stole my heart, like "Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue!", "Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated" or crazy one  "Be Cool, Scooby-Doo!" (I love self-ironical, self-parodying shows). So... yeah, I guess I'm a Scooby Doo fan now. What's more, I will now say something that will probably make some people hate me: I like the "scandalous" show "Velma". Uuuu! Everyone will stop following me now, what a drama.
I have to admit that I had fun - although it was probably one of the most difficult Ink Demonths so far (counting the future ones I've already drawn). Scooby-Doo is damn hard to draw, because he has very caricatured features while having quite a dog's build, and when broken down into simple shapes, he's... just plain ugly to draw. Shaggy was a bit of a challenge, but it was a real pleasure to draw Velma. By the way, these two are my favourite characters - and I ship them in their youth (in their mature life, I prefer Shaggy with that cool alien from one of the movies). I used, of course, the background from BATIM - and choosing the right one and then framing it the best took me a lot of time and frustration too. I originally wanted a setting from the first chapter, but nothing looked right with the characters on it. I finally made it to the second chapter - and I think it turned out really nice. However, I am extremely proud of how cans turned out, the expiration date of which is checked by Shaggy.
If anyone doesn't understand why this entry is for "machine" theme, let me remind you that the Gang drove a cool, colourful van called... that's right! The Mystery Machine! If you didn't know that, you can't consider yourself a Scooby-Doo fan :D

Mysterious inc Adventures

Sleeping arrangements
Life on the road wasn’t easy.
They were a gang of four people and one large dane inside a van. A van that wasn’t all that big.
Hotels didn’t come often. Not unless the gang was inside a town with a free bed. So they usually ended up in the van crowded across the floor and all their things. That was usually used as a pillow often or not.
In short it was no easy task to find a spot to sleep in the van. They ended up sleeping next to each other more than often. Arms thrown over each other legs laying across each other.
But soon it had become a routine. Something that they were all used to by now.
Instead of keeping as much space between each other so no arms or legs would touch. Instead of keeping those mere inches between each other. They were all bunched up to each other like it was below freezing and they were trying to admit warmth.
From the way Daphne wrapped her leg around Shaggy’s to how Shaggy laid his head onto Fred’s arm or to how Velma kept one arm onto Scooby, the dog lying right underneath her head. So she could use him as a pillow.
Or the way Fred wrapped his arm over Daphne to the other’s. Like he was trying to hug all three of them.
Waking up was hard, well not waking up but trying to get out from the pile. That the gang just made the night before. Fred was an early riser and Shaggy slept the longest with a natural talent to sleep until someone finally woke him up.
It was near morning but it was still dark and she could feel someone moving around his hand retracting. “Go back to sleep” Velma murmured into the quiet van and he did. He laid back down and reached across the two until his hand was brushing against her.

ok, been thinking about Vincent Van Ghoul (as one does) and been thinking about how Mystery Inc. absolutely BUTCHERED his character. This man was not mysterious, serious or magical. He was just dramatic and annoying. And yes, Vincent is dramatic, but mysterious dramatic, not annoying dramatic. But, anyways.
I just don't like one of my favourite characters being done dirty like that so we're back with rewriting media I don't like :).
So my thoughts were along the lines of his horror movie stuff has something to do with Nekara, and some of the other demons. Maybe he was trying to stop her and one thing led to another and boom, now you're an actor and Vincent doesn't know how he got here, but being rich and famous is actually a somewhat good position to be in when you're looking for really obscure stuff. It's also good protection against some of the demons who don't want to be found. Then the essay contest.
What if Vincent was getting bored of waiting and decided to bring the demons to his front door? What if the essay contest was just him saying "yes, an evening with me - totally alone in my remote mansion where the power and security cameras fail regularly. And I would never bring weapons magic or otherwise to such a gathering of course not. Just me. Alone. In my mansion. Totally defenceless. If any demons - cough, cough - I mean fans want to hang out"
He doesn't expect anyone to actually write in. And if they do he'll just move the date inconspicuously. But apparently his producer didn't get the memo because now there are two teenagers and a dog outside his house when he's expecting thirteen of the most horrifying demons to ever walk the mortal plane to show up.
Long story short, the kids end up saving him and put one of the demons back in the chest. They decide to help him with the other 12, but not tell Velma and Fred just yet bc they want to break the whole thing to them gently.
This would obviously change how the series goes, hopefully for the better - with Vincent acting as the kids' desperately needed responsible adult.

Another mildly strange thought that I have decided to share with the internet for whatever reason?
The Scooby-Doo gang get sent to one of those YA schools where all the kids are paranormal in some way, shape or form. Think Wednesday or something idfk, my only other examples are obscure and British.
Like oh my god. They’d speedrun the “Hmmm, I think there’s something a little bit funny about this place.” arc in about two seconds flat and go straight to stalking their classmates and committing crimes. Fred Jones would be a MENACE.
The solution to our problems is occult witchcraft? Wrong. Throw a net over it and hit it with the fucking Mystery Van. The dark forces of witchcraft and the undead are no match for four teenagers and a dog with a stockpile of potentially illegal weapons.
Whether Mystery Inc are entirely normal themselves I leave up to you to decide because the possibilities are both endless and hilarious. (I like to think that only one of them got invited and the rest just showed up like “We come as a package deal.”)
I personally think the funniest option is go off the ‘Don’t make me use 1% of my power’ memes and have it be either Shaggy, Scooby or both because the rest of the team are 100% feral enough to stalk him across the lines of both the state and possibly the lines of different realities.
Bonus points if Velma’s girlfriend from the 2013 show is there on FaceTime occasionally to go “Hey what the fuck is happening over there, you promised we’d play virtual chess??? Why do you need me to decrypt these ancient runes?”
I haven’t thought this idea through in the slightest and nothing in my brain makes a lick of sense so there’s a 50/50 chance I’ve just said the dumbest thing ever.

You know just seeing all the talks about Scooby Doo reboots and re-watchin the old movies and shows, got me thinking on things I'd like to see in a remake, 'adult' or otherwise.
I'd love to see a Scooby Doo where it's a healthy mix of both the monsters are people in rubber masks and tricked out costumes and Werewolves, vampires, zombies and ghouls are real. This is why Shaggy and Scooby are hesitant to directly deal with the spooks the gang come across, because while most of the time it is a dude in a mask, there's still the chance of it being the genuine deal and
Give me a Fred who looks like he's the high school baseball star and small town sweet heart but is a huge dork, auto mechanic and somewhat engineering nerd who loves his traps and mechanical marvels. He's eager to share, and fell in love with mysteries and the like after something like a good mystery podcast or novel, and decided to investigate right away the first time a mystery lands in Coolsville/Crystal Cove/their hometown. It leads to him running into the individuals that would become his best friends and Mystery Inc.. He's the 'face' of the group, the one who put out his number and talks to the clients to set up investigations and the Mystery Machine was a van he rebuilt and painted.
Give me a Daphne who is still girly and loves her fashion and trends, but is also an avid journalist, martial artist of some form, and the one with the most connections. She gets the gang rides when the Mystery Machine on it's own won't cut it, she gets them the hotels, and just general things like that because of extended family or people she's befriend. Occasionally she uses the money her parents send her way, but for the most part, she uses her own inherent personable nature to help her and her friends along. She's also the gangs note take, and has a file on each case carefully catalogued and stored away. It would've been Velma that did so, but when she gets enthusiastic her hand writing tends to start becoming illegible to everyone else, so Daphne takes over the case notes and complies everything when it's solved for if they ever need it later.
Give me a Velma who studies various sciences and languages and is a straight A student, but who also dabbles around in old stories, mythologies, and cryptids as a secret hobby before throwing herself into it fully after the first time her and her friends encounter something supernatural that she can't explain in a way normal sciences could. She's the 'forensic' expert of the time, working out the details of how the man in the mask is able to pull off their 'supernatural' feats, while also examining the actual supernatural things to figure what exactly they're dealing with because different creatures have different rules and you don't want to mix those up. She helps Fred build his traps, or at least reigns them in enough to be feasible. She actually met Fred in a shop class/engineering class and he'd made an off hand comment about a trap idea that she responded to and it spiraled from there. She makes the little details the whole gang collects work into one coherent picture.
Give me a Shaggy who is still an anxious, eats a lot, and is goofy but who's also the most athletic of the crew, gymnastics/track team, has a slew of odd little talents from hobbies he took up as kid, and cook like no one's business. He and Scooby, despite wanting the least to do with the actual supernatural things some how has the most contacts on the supernatural side of things like how Daphne has with humans. He does ironically meet Daphne first, while she's taking her mother's dog to the groomers the same day Shaggy's taking Scooby and they hit it off. Like the gang investigates a town saying that Dracula is terrorizing them, and Shaggy helps clear it up because he happens to know the particular vampire because he helped coach his daughter's volleyball team one summer, and said daughter shrieks in delight when she sees coaches Shaggy and Scooby again and asks when they'll coach again. He makes sure the gang stays fed, keeps up the first aid supplies, and the other things that fall under that blanket.
Give me a Scooby, who is a nervous great dane that has an appetite and dry wit to match his 'owner's'/best friend's but is a mystery the gang is lowkey trying to solve because he doesn't match any supernatural creature Velma can find but no one knows how can talk and even he wants to know, and who despite seeming like a coward is one of the first run back to defend his friends from a monster, real and not. He knows that there's something a bit more going on for the group, something watching them and waiting but it doesn't mean harm so he doesn't bother it too much and focuses more on his humans. He's the one who makes sure that the gang takes a step back and breathes, he helps Shaggy through anxiety/panic attacks, brings Velma the vegetarian chili from dinner while she's hunched over an analysis and comparing stories, makes Fred sit after he's been pacing for 30 minutes to look at a new angle, and makes sure Daphne sleeps when she's caught up looking through old cases to find similarities/connections cause they know there's one to the latest case they're working, he keeps them in the moment and helps make sure that this thing they're doing stay fun.
All I want is these 4 kids/young adults who meet for one mystery, and decide they like what they did and carrying that on from like high school and through college. They'll poke fun at each other, good naturedly of course, but they're there for each other through thick and thin and will solve any mystery that crosses their proverbial door step, especially if they start finding connections and clues to something bigger.

Scooby-Doo! Music of the Vampire
forcefully review as watched by Deluge
spoilers, obviously, but then again, I’m the one watching it for the first time.
Title card already.
The fourth wall? Absent
Man just ate a leech
Oh we're at the ending chronologically
Always starting with a solved case
Velma listening to her own music instead of Daphne's show tunes.
Oh they actually are going the musical route. I thought it was just gonna be a gimmick of the vampire
JEEZ VELMA CAN YOU DRIVE ANYMORE DANGEROUSLY?
Van Helsing? Interesting
Spoken like a preacher. Hate that guy already.
What does a corn dog even taste like? I still haven't tried one.
Damn, Van Helsing not doing so well.
Again, If you have to explain the joke, it's no longer a joke.
Man just has a vampire in a coffin
Letting free an actual vampire sounds for tourism sounds like the perfect motive
That kid is far too into the vampires.
Okay Daphne, A tad enthusiastic, if not obsessed.
That's an Ankh...
Oh... Actual Vampire... That's not good.
Bram, Like Bram Stoker.
I feel he's the only one in on it, the rest of the troop aren't
Well, They did say they only perform at night, nothing about appearing only at night.
Yeah, all he did was get tased.
Damn, They just Tazed Fred multiple times like it was nothing.
Geez Lita, Really selling out on the vampire stuff. But obviously lying, vampire had green eyes.
Poubelle is really amassing an angry mob.
Daphne got lockpicking.
Of course Poubelle is a politician. Riding the hype to increase his ratings. but probably not the vampire.
Yep Angry Mob.
An interesting take on the hall of doors gag.
Shaggy, all you did was get scratched.
Hahaha I get what's happening. Shaggy's been reading the book and he's hungry, and now its a scene joking the melodrama of vampire love books.
YEAH SONG JUST ABOUT SCOOBY AND SHAGGY, though it does sound a tad autotuned.
Daphne's fashion sense coming handy
Yeah, It's getting pretty hard to determine who the real culprit is.
Bram possibly, but a bunch of scenes show he didn't realise.
Van Helsing, likely to ring up more tourism to save himself.
Don't think it's Lita.
Poubelle possibly, again to improve his status.
Those projectors were probably how they made it look like Bram disappeared in his act, but now more likely as well for the vampire and bat projection.
Yes, very cliche. Maybe eternity as a great performing band.
Yeah, Brams most likely culprit now, initial faint from the group was to bring them under spell maybe.
Maybe Shaggy will notice he's in the sunlight and not burning up.
So Tulie's the name of the guy at the beginning.
Hmmm, Sounds like the vampire floating around with Tulie's shoes.
Okay, The method acting is going a bit far, and I don't think its them anymore.
A bit of Mystery Inc Sass from Velma calling Shaggy a weirdo.
Again, why is an Ankh the vampire talisman?
Okay, really pointing to Van Helsing, trying to drum up more sales.
Has direct access to the vampire stuff, Could have stolen the boots since he lives there,
Sleeping gas maybe, Oh it's some other gas according to Velma.
There goes the cloak and the real culprit.
Yep, Van Helsing. Just to bring back his family's name. Kinda Sad.
Hmmm. Surprisingly fun experience that tied up pretty well.
9/10

Everyone’s making a Scooby Doo pitch!!! I did one based off of Michael Fry’s old Irish grandpa video here but gonna expand out a bit
So my initial thing was:
Next Scooby Doo adaptation should just be old man Shaggy spinning a tale of Mystery Inc’s final mystery.
Now if we were to take the 2002 cast back, and they’re not much into the mystery hunting these days, they’re clearly aged. Fred and Daphne have kids now, with Fred being a stay at home dad and the occasional modelling gig, and Daphne running a successful martial arts studio. Velma’s a professor, potentially with a wife or partner. Shaggy is helping run his parents business empire. Scooby is an old old dog now.
But strange things are happening and old Fred’s getting the mystery tingles again. And for once Shaggy is the first to volunteer to join since he’s been chafing at the business life he’s immersed in. Old Scooby isn’t quite up to running around but they load him up in the mystery machine which Fred had been using as a minivan for his kids. The kids obvi either come along or make cameos.
Velma had been exploring anomalies in the earth’s movement or something science related and contacts Fred first. Daphne has to fly in from another state where she’d been doing some tv promos.
There has to be a moment where Fred is like “I’m not as fast as I used to be” “we all aren’t exactly in our prime anymore” gasps Shaggy during a classic chase scene and Daphne flies in abruptly and kicks ass saying “speak for yourself!”
The same happy-go-lucky characters. The same best friends. Having a wonderful time. Some distance but still lots of love between them. Fred and Daphne’s kids know them all as Uncle Shaggy and Aunty Velma and Dooby-Doo.
Ultimately whatever the mystery is, they solve it. Scooby is just happy to watch the humans he loves the most have fun all together.
Cut back to old Shaggy. Talking about Scooby’s final moments. How the whole gang turned up to be with him as he said goodbye to his best friend.
And it’s sad. But it’s coming of age and moving on and growing up. And it’s remembering the best of your youth. And you pan out from his house and there’s the mystery van. Rusted and old but there. And then there’s a knock at the door.
“Oh that must be the gang with lunch. Put on a cuppa will ye?”
Final shot is all the gang, much much older, but sitting and laughing and reminiscing about the old times. With Scooby’s photo up on the mantle next to a shot of them all together when they were teenagers.

How Bizarre Scooby doo!
Tumblr media
0---]====> All Aboard <=====[---0
-=-=-=This AU contains Spoilers to Steel Ball run and Scooby Doo Mystery Inc. Future additions will contain: Violence, Character Death, Torment, and Fred being flung around like a dog toy. If anything else comes up i'll add it to the list!-=-=-=-=-=- The sound of a distant horn chugging along the tracks, an old train looking train based off the very locomotive that was raided during the Civil war. Though it looks old, it runs like any other modern train. 2013, although this year has a lot of things happening to America, it’s known for one thing, a story that no one ever heard off. The President, in this world, is a man, seeking a power only few can have. The horn gets louder, as that very President awaits at the station. President Funny Valentine, one of a kind, no one really knows his backstory, all they know is that he commissioned this said model train. Of course, he wasn’t the only one awaiting this train, with so many people at the station he had to bring his bodyguards. Of course I don't need to go into detail about Funny Valentine, and who he is, all you need to know is that, in this universe, he co-exists with the Others. In 1888, a rich family was met with tragedy, one that lasted generations, up until now. This Tragedy is one that everyone already knows, all you need to do is mention the name Joestar. Jonyle Cuhjo having defeated what they thought was the last of the curse of the joestars. Yet little did they know, fate would say otherwise. That is where our other Heroes play into this tale, a mystery beyond their comprehension, a mystery to unravel the truth behind the Joestars, a mystery that will surely end in tragedy.
“All Aboard!” Yelled the conductor, as the train finally made its stop, screeching to a halt. Of course the President was the first to board, being so famous afterall. It was when some groups of people caught his eyes. They were running from a green and blue van with red flowers. He recognized them, and that can only mean trouble, no matter, he can handle himself. He was quickly ushered into the train, entering his private train wagon.
“Hurry up, Gang, the train is here!” Ah yes, the group of young adults who had Funny Valentine on the edge of his seat. They were known for solving mysteries, traveling the world to solve said mysteries. Fred Jones, the one who is rushing everyone towards the train, “You all better behave! The President is said to be on this train!” He shouted back to the others.
“Like, we already have enough pressure!” The stumbling, clumsy boy named Shaggy. Like always he had food in his arms, as well as his friend at his side.
“Rahggy- Wook Out” The dog spoke almost intelligible as Shaggy trips over a loose stone in the middle of the platform. The food goes flying everywhere as Shaggy trips and falls over flat on his face. The food drops to the floor with a plop as his other friends, Velma and Daphne run past him laughing and giggling. “You shoold be more careful” He barked, looking at the tragedy sprawled around them.
“Doesn’t matter, like we need to get going!” Shaggy and Scooby catch up to the rest of the gang who are boarding. Tickets out and ready, although they said they had to leave the mystery machine behind, they were also excited, heading towards New york.
“Here we are, our quarters for the trip! It’s small but hey! It’s got a good window!” Fred opened the wooden door, entering into the small room.
“Fun fact, did you know, the front of the train, the locomotive, is actually based off the one from the civil war? You know the train chase?” Velma, the nerd of the group, though those many fun facts come in handy sometimes.
“So it’s a confederate train? Why would the President commision this to be rebuilt? Is’t that kinda-” Dephne, the logical one of the group, she’s usually the first to figure out who’s behind the fake monsters.
“From what I heard, he has a fascination with History, and thinks that all history should be preserved to learn from it. I can agree, even if the history is unfavorable.” He sits down on the bottom bed, the beds were like bunk beds in the wall. They were comfortable and surprisingly, as velma set, she took out her computer. “Here! President Funny Valentine, much of his family history is unknown, he is confirmed to come from around the california area. Huh, that makes a lot of sense, anyway, his Father was apparently an old Political figure head as a Mayor. And was originally a Captain in the army.  Valentine is not very open about his past, but has gone on to state, when the time is right, all will know my true origins, my true universe. Wow…. creepy.”
“Hm, it’s a hit or miss with me, he seems fine but… ah well I guess now isn’t the time to get into that topic. What’s got me curious is that last line, “My true universe”, is he a poet or something?” Daphne sat next to Velma, looking at her computer screen.
“Like, it’s also weird he wouldn’t like, you know, talk about his life, since like, he’s the president and all?” Shaggy sat on his own bed, nervously chuckling.
“If you want you can ask him yourself, he is on this very train afterall.” Although Velma knew it was impossible, a part of her still wanted to know more about him. It was at this time the gang settled in, of course Scooby and Shaggy left for the food bar, Fred and Daphne, sitting out by the windows, and Velma alone in one of the train wagons, researching the president. They were all blissfully unaware of the danger they were about to find themselves in, the mystery that will have them question everything, even whether or not they should or want to know the answer. A bizarre adventure awaits them, a new matter, a matter of life or death, danger and destruction.
“Dirty deeds done dirt cheap. No one can exist as the same person in another world… except for me, and my stand ability. Unawares and nonchalant, you five will be my first lead the HOLY CORPSE PARTS”
!! Feedback Welcome!! Please be nice, i'm not the best writer hehe.

i love the Fruity Four + Dustin is the Mystery Inc, i do- but. it’s also so obviously the Cali gang?
not sure which personality goes with what- but..like.. the similarities 😭
1) there’s already FIVEEEEE people together in one space, you don’t need to add another from a different location/plot point
2) they. drive. around. in. a. van.
3) two of them are stoned (not for the drive, but they like to get stoned is the point)
4) the two that are generally stoned in the Scooby Dooby Doo (although i’m pretty sure the joke is that they’re all stoned, that’s why they all understand a dog) LOVEEE pizza(and all food). and guess who works for a PIZZA place? that’s right, one of the two stoners.
5) ‘Pass the Dutchie’ is Argyles theme, and in the live action movies, it’s Scoobys and Shaggys intro song
6) in the TV series, Mystery Inc, most the first season, Shaggy is stuck having to choose Scooby (his best friend) or Velma (his girlfriend) AND not being able to say “I love you” that much. sound like anyone in the cali gang…perhaps El and Will and MIKE???
7) in the TV series, Mystery Inc, Fred’s biological parents had to give him up to ‘protect’ him. he was given up to the mayor, who then obviously neglected him and was always rude, and never, NEVER, supported his interests. he only saw his self worth in making traps and capturing the things harming others. his biological parents were also trappers, the original Mystery Incorporated. furthermore, he has a VERY ‘hard time’ understanding romantic things, and is entirely oblivious, and just wants to be best friends with everyone
sound like someone? sounds like a different font of Jonathan.
Freds parents left him - Loonie left him
To ‘protect’ him - Loonie tried to make him ‘more manly’ and said ‘you’ve gotten stronger’ after he pushed Jon against a wall
Given to neglectful Mayor - Although Joyce aimed to be a good parent, she was almost never there for Jonathan because she had to work
‘Dad’ didn’t support Fred - he was lonely and had no support system, nobody enjoyed his photography
Only sees worth in traps - feels useless if he can’t protect others (his family)
Biological parents were also trappers - Joyce and, somewhat Hopper (i hope we get Hopper father to Jon scenes, it would be so damn angsty and shit) got involved in the Upsidedown, thus are also ‘trappers’ or ‘hunters’
Emotions - Obviously has issues with Nancy and wants to balance her and family, like Fred wanted to be friends with everyone equally
in conclusion, Fred in a different (less himbo) font
8) they’re also driving around looking for CLUESSSS trying to find El, solve the mystery, and the ‘stoned’ ones (shaggy and scooby) that nobody EXPECTS to find a clue, FIND A CLUE!! TIRETRACKS!!! GO ARGYLE!!!
9) there arnt any adults or supervision, just a bunch of teenagers doing gods know what
10) argyles whole thing is “Try before you deny,” and who else would tell you to TRY food, other than the two in the show (shaggy and scooby) who are ALL ABOUT FOOD
11) shaggys hair and Jonathan’s hair…i’m sorry, i love Jon’s hair, but it’s TRUE😭😭😭
i’ll add more reasons whoever i think of them 💪✌️
(also i’m only on like a episode 6 season 2 of Mystery Inc, even though it’s a rewatch, so if i got something wrong oh well)

What are your thoughts on Scrappy Doo and Flim Flam, The Boo Brothers, Google, The Ghoul School students and Vincent Van Ghoul?
i hate scrappy with my entire soul but i loved 13 ghosts as a kid (it was my favorite scooby-doo series for a while) so i put up with him through that and honestly i think it's probably the series where he's most likeable? idk, if i'm being honest i think the premise of scrappy in general isn't necessarily bad (IN THEORY) but the biggest problem is not only how he's written (annoying as all get out) but the writers also seem to feel the need to sacrifice an original gang member in order to put scrappy into a piece of scooby media, which completely imbalances the crew. i try to avoid scrappy-based scooby media at all costs so i can't think of many concrete examples off the top of my head, but i'm pretty sure the scrappy-doo and scooby-doo show falls into this trap, as well as 13 ghosts (obviously) and a bunch of the 80s direct to video movies, and maybe even certain episodes of laff-o-lympics? but that's kind of a stretch tbh i'm not fact checking any of this i just remember watching certain eps of scooby-doo and noticing that if scrappy was there, velma or fred (or both!) were frequently absent from the episode, which switched up the dynamic especially because unlike more skilled or experienced gang members, scrappy never really directly helped with mystery-solving but rather seemed to cause more problems and hinder the gang's ability to sleuth - whenever scrappy "helped" out, he only ever caused more problems or found clues on accident (and not in a cute scooby-doo scaredy cat way). so uhh sorry scrappy-doo lovers and truthers i can't deal with him.
on the other hand i remember i really loved flim flam?? he was a really strong member of the 13 ghosts from what i remember and i think he balanced scrappy pretty well - like, he gave scrappy someone to bounce off of who wasn't a member of mystery inc, and i think it fit better than forcing him to mesh with the pre-existing dynamics of the scooby gang. i also think it was more effective because scrappy finally had a fun-loving kid around his age (?? ignoring scooby-doo 2002 canon that says scrappy's just an adult dog with a gland disorder) who he could be friends with and bounce off of. it made scrappy's antics seem more genuine at times and less straight up shitty or mean, although the two could still get annoying. i really liked that flim flam made a cameo in the more recent movie "scooby-doo and the curse of the 13th ghost" it was a nice wave to fans of the original series and it plays to the character's strengths, in my opinion.
it's been forever since i've rewatched boo brothers but basically i remember this: i didn't like the titular boo brothers that much as characters, but i thought the movie was alright. not one of my favorites but it was an okay watch - like, i had fun, but i wasn't going to ask my dad to rip the library dvd onto our computer for me. i preferred other scooby-doo direct to video specials from that period better (like the ghoul school and the reluctant werewolf).
i also haven't rewatched the ghoul school recently, but i enjoyed the colorful ensemble cast and i thought some of the gags were pretty funny. i think it's helped by the fact that they were all girls and that was more girls than i'd ever seen at once in a scooby-doo movie. by association, i also really liked the movie! i can't remember having a favorite out of the students so i think i just really liked them all together as a group.
vincent van ghoul was a brilliant addition to scooby lore. i need more of him always he is the glue that holds 13 ghosts together. when will he return from the war? (sdmi's version of him barely counts i'm so sorry).

Here is what the anon included:
A police car would then roll up on Velma’s victim, throw them in back seat, and attempt to drive them off the stage. Is that a funny idea in concept? Of course it is. Is it funny in practice to watch a cop car roll up and start wreaking havoc in the year 2022 in a game with Black characters, including real-world people like LeBron James? Not so much.
In America, police distrust is at an all-time high, with some cops finally facing punishments for criminal actions committed on duty, and many more getting away with obvious abuses of power because they wear the badge. It’s clear now to many Americans — although this has long been obvious to marginalized and oppressed folks in this country — that the police are not the “good guys” they are depicted as in shows like Scooby-Doo.
It’s with that slow but steady cultural shift in mind that some MultiVersus players winced at the choice to have Velma call the cops — a small group of fans even started an online petition to remove the cops from Velma’s ability, and replace it with the Mystery Machine. And that’s exactly what Player First Games did.
In Thursday's patch, the notes included this bit about Velma’s passive ability: “Instead of calling the police, Velma now solves the mystery and calls the Mystery Inc. gang and the Mystery Machine to take the bad guys away.”
This change may seem small, but it takes away some gloom from an otherwise silly ability while still keeping its charm. Instead of the heat rolling in to do god-knows-what to Jake the Dog, LeBron James, or Steven Universe, Fred and Daphne will simply run them over in their hippie van. Same result, committed by fun cartoon characters instead of armed state employees.
As the petition calls out, the police aren’t necessary to MultiVersus’ gameplay or even the in-game spectacle of a character calling in a whole-ass car to do their bidding. So it’s nice to see Player First Games work to improve an issue that inadvertently sends the wrong message to players and makes a group of fans uncomfortable while playing an otherwise silly cartoon fighting game.
A comment (bolding mine):
What would really be funny is if the gang rolled up and caught Velma's opponent and then she rips off their mask to reveal that "Bugs" or "Wonder Woman" is actually an old white dude trying to pull a real estate scam by scaring people.
Another, followed by a direct reply thereto:
On the one hand, the original reference was to how the show ended *every* episode with them calling the police to cart off the criminal, so it was a neat reference. On the other, *most* of the characters Velma's fighting in this game aren't criminals, so it makes more sense for her friends to come help her fight than for cops to arrest Bugs Bunny. Also it's a silly game for fun, so if something makes people uncomfortable, better to get it out of there when it's not even essential. Overall great call, really like their solution, thing that bothers some people is gone and replaced with an even cooler reference.
Except hauling the criminals off was all they did, the gang had already done all the work capturing him by then.
In any case, what about the message that one's "homies" are always reliable that replaced the 'trust the 'pigs'" message? A common retort of ACAB people is that they have "homies" (they used that word; I'm just quoting) that'll come running if they're ever attacked, stolen from, etc and just having them on speed dial doesn't guarantee their appearance. Also, bad enough this game "canonized" certain memes (Big Chungus, Ultra Instinct Shaggy), did they have to jump aboard the ACAB bandwagon too? And if course there's that whole "free to play" thing... I think I'll just stick with Smash Bros (despite it's Undertale and Minecraft content).

You reblogging that scooby doo post made me think...spacekru mystery Inc au??? What do you think???
Luce, I think you're a genius.
It also ties in really, really well with a really dumb AU idea I never posted publicly about where best friends John Murphy and Raven Reyes get really drunk one day, argue about whether Bigfoot is real, then decide to, while wasted, go off into the woods to find him.
So basically what I'm saying is Murphy and Raven start Mystery Inc. because of a) a really dumb bet b) a drunken argument about the existence of ghosts and monsters (I can't decide who's the skeptic and who's the believer, because my heart says Murphy is a realist, but I also think him being a realist in everything else but super gung-ho about the idea of ghosts, much to Raven I-only-believe-in-what-my-hands-can-touch Reyes's annoyance is very funny) or c) an equally stupid reason of your choice and accidentally recruit a bunch of other weirdos and make a big ole mystery hunting, bad guy exposing found family.
Monty is the brains. Bellamy's really good at research and also always way too ready to believe the local legend. Emori has a criminal record that says she's really good at breaking into places. No one really knows what Echo's deal is, but she's scary good at setting traps and Raven's a little bit in love with her from the get-go. Harper owns a van and was feeling kind of lost in life so why not travel the country with a bunch of fellow weirdos. All seven of them have a complete lack of trust in authority and law enforcement and a strong desire to expose assholes.
At some point they acquire a dog. No one knows where it came from. It becomes part of the gang.

Finally watched the Scoob!movie
Here we are in the future! As you guys know I was REALLY EXCITED to see the new movie. Well, here we are, so I will share my thoughts.
This one is a long one, so buck up!
Let’s break the movie down and see its high and low points, shall we?
One thing that I noticed right out of bat is that the movie is following the typical Hanna-Barbera crossover logic: “Hey audience, you already know these characters and their dynamics, so we will not really focus on them (unless is a plot point on the narrative) and focus more on the adventure”
Which worked for me. But I also know that I’m a 20 years old woman that was a child when Wacky Races, Dastardly and Muttley in their Flying Machines, Scooby-Doo and Captain Caveman was on every day at morning before I went to school.
What I mean is, I already know these characters, so watching the movie was just like watching the crossover episodes. It was fun, not because of the plot, but because the characters that I grew loving were sharing a screen.
But now I think of a new audience that may have NO IDEA who these other characters are and are kinda mislead by the title of the movie because, and lets be honest here, the movie should have being called something like:
Scooby gang and the Falcon Team!
or more precisely
Scooby, Shaggy and the Falcon Team!
That’s the first low point: The opening minutes leads you to believe that, even if Shaggy and Scooby have most of the screen time, after all the plot of the movie is clearly about their bond as best friends, you expect that the whole Scooby Gang are going to have equal screen time. But that is not the case.
They have nice moments of course! One of the first high points is that the gang is really wholesome when they are together! They are good friends that care about each other! What breaks them apart is not some forced antagonism between them, but an outside force (MOTHERFUCKING SIMON COWELL) and, by the way things went, if the plot had not kicked in on the bowling alley, the gang would unite again, hug, call Simon Cowell an idiot, reassure Shaggy and Scooby that they are valid and find a new person to sponsor the expansion of Mystery INC.
In fact, now that I think about it, the plot could have gone WAAAAAAY different, but that is a talk for another post.
High point one and a half: The movie was funny and cute. Self aware jokes, Muttley and Dick antics, Dick’s disguises, the F-Bomb, Shaggy is a Potterhead, Scooby was animated with “This dog deserves hugs” mentality and I approve.
High point number two: Dick Dastardly. His entire personality, his disguises , his motivation. God his motivation. I too would open the gates of hell to get my dog back (and also some treasure, this is Dastardly we are talking about)
In fact his interactions with Muttley are high point number three. THEY ARE SUCK ASSHOLES BUT THEY CLEARLY LOVE EACH OTHER SO MUCH I LOVE THAT!
But that also opens the gates for Low point number two: Where Dick arc is finished in a satisfactory way (being an asshole that cares for one (1) asshole dog) , Brian’s a.k.a Blue Falcon doesn’t.
You see, in the movie Shaggy clearly sees that Brian acts the way he does because he is NOT Blue Falcon. He is his son. He has the weight of a legacy on his shoulders and he is not coping well with that. This is highlighted by how Dynomutt sees him and his childish ways. (in fact, Dynomutt just being done with Brian shit 95% of the movie is high point number four) And you think “They are going to make a scene were he and Dynomutt are more open with each other. Where Brian says how scared he is and how the pressure of the legacy is maybe too much for him and that he is no hero, and them Dynomutt is going to reassure him that, No. You are a hero. I’m sorry for expecting you to be like your father, instead of doing to you what did for him: guiding you” and we got that! .....Really rushed in the middle of the final action scene with no emotional punch at all as a side effect from the “we expect you to know who these people are” crossover logic. Because I never watched Dynomutt and the Blue Falcon
I don’t how their dynamic was supposed to go. Even more by being the original Dynomutt with a new Falcon. I have no bases of how things used to be to feel anything. Especially because I don't know how the OG blue falcon acted in comparison to his son to see were he was falling short. I don't know how Dynomutt acted with the OG Falcon to see were he was setting the bar for Brian. Without that information, even if Dynomutt being done is entertaining  and fun, it leaves the emotional impacts hollow.
Low point number three is also to blame here: the movie fells INCREDIBLY RUSHED. And I think I know the reason. Hanna-Barbera is no stranger to crossovers, but they never did more them one property + another before, three properties at most. It was always Scooby Doo and The Wacky Race or Scooby Doo and Captain Caveman or Scooby Doo and The Blue Falcon but never Scooby Doo and All of them together.
Even in the episode of Mystery incorporated “Mystery Solvers Club State Finals” were ALL THE HANNA-BARBERA MYSTERY SOLVER TEAMS WERE TOGETHER UNDER ONE ROOF , they made the mystery about the disappearing of all the mystery solvers except the mascots, which left the cast of characters of the episode more manageable them having all the gangs fighting for screen time, and even them some of the mascots have more dialog and character beats them others.
With so many characters, they had to pic which ones got a full arc or important plot beats, which left all the other character lacking as a side effect.
That brings us to low point number four: THE MYSTERY IS WEAK. It’s weak even for Scooby Doo levels and that is saying something. I saw episodes of Be Cool (that is a really good incarnation character design aside, you should check it out) that had a more well rounded mystery them this. The focus of the movie was divided in so many places that the mystery had no room to breath (Dick, Shaggy and Scooby, Shaggy and Scooby and the Falcon team, Dee Dee and Dynomutt backs aching by having to carry the plot forward, Shaggy and Brian have a heart to heart moments, Captain Caveman fight scene, and finally the mystery gang and the, you know, mystery)
The mystery is about “why the fuck Dick wants Scoob so bad” and the answer is “Because Scooby is descended from Peritas, Alexanders the Great Dog, and he needs him to open the gate to the underworld that Alex and Perry created to protect their treasure, plus save Mutley that is stuck there”
That could have being such a strong mystery!!! They would think that he only has greed in mind by opening the gates, not giving a flying fuck about the giant Cerberus that is going to eat Athens while he fills his pockets, only to discover that, yes there was greed in his actions but there was also a man looking for his best friend stuck on the other side, with would have made such a strong emotional parallel to Shaggy and Scooby final challenge. Missed opportunity.
Back to the high points to balance thing out, the high point number five: Fred is a himbo that loves his friends and his van. The moment were they hear that Shaggy and Scooby are in danger and he immediately turns the van around nearly launching Velma and Daphne though the window was really good, plus the “Leave Shaggy Alone” and the fact that when the Fake!Fred appears (Dastardly in one of his ultra-realistic disguises) in the island and Shaggy calls his name and they hug in the most wholesome way, the fact that Shaggy doest think that the wholesomeness is out of character implies that the Real Freddie is just as sweet.
High point number six: Daphne gains first an Allie and then an entire robot army for her friends though the power of compassion. This is a nice take on Daphne. They say that Fred is the Brawn, Velma is the Brain and Daphne is the People person, which I take is the fact that she can make fast friends and easy contacts to solve the mysteries + think about why someone would do something, like, Velma sees the logic behind the mystery while Daphne sees the emotion that lead to the mystery in the first place.
Which, unfortunately leads to low point number five: even if I can make all that character analyses from one phrase and this specific moment and its outcome, thanks to Low point number three and four a.e. Lack of character focus and lack of mystery I can't truly see if I’m right or not about Velma's logic and Daphne’s emotional knowledge... BECAUSE I CAN BARELY REMEMBER VELMA AT ALL. Velma is the one that suffered the most by the lack of mystery because there is where she thrives. The moments were Velma piece the clues together is so overshadowed by everything that is going down that you barely notices it. Same thing for Dee Dee. She and Dynomutt are, thanks to the way the plot was build, the only ones that are actually making moves to compel the plot forward, but outside of being the one flying the ship and trying to find were the skulls macguffings are, I can barely remember her besides  a moment were she and Dyno are baffled about Brian thinking that Anonymous was an actual name.
Dee Dee is from Captain Caveman, she was the brains of the group, which we kinda see, but she is apparently in a point in time where she and Cavey don't even know each other. I think if they had removed the Caveman fight scene and instead added dialog of her talking about how she and her friends discovered a caveman on ice and they are planing on defrosting him, you know, THE PLOT OF THE ORIGINAL CAPTAIN CAVEMAN AND THE TEEN ANGELS would have being better.  Or maybe just say that she is just here because she promised the OG Blue Falcon that she would help train his son to replace him and when her work is done she is going back to her team. You know, actually stabilising a more connected world without inflating your cast and making things difficult for yourself and the script writers.
Low point number five and a half : Captain Caveman is completely superfluous. He was a funny beat, but outside of that, the time that they expended getting to his island, finding him, fighting him and losing the skull macguffing anyway  could have being expended on character moments either between the falcon team, or better yet, the Mystery gang. Or put more time on the mystery itself.
Now to high point number seven and the most important of them all, after all it is the plot were the entire movie is set upon: When Shaggy is speaking with Brian about how the pressure of his father shadow over him is beyond overwhelming, Shaggy is so insightful in that scene that it heavily implies that he feels in part in a similar way in the gang and that is one of the reasons he felt offended when Simon Cowell, and later on Dick Dastardly, say that he is virtually insignificant  to the group and them gets jealous of Scoob when he starts to spend more time with the Falcon Team.
Is one thing to be the scary cat with your best friend, is another thing entirely to be the scary cat alone. AND I LOVE THAT
Shaggy and Scooby bond has being highlighted from the opening scene (high point number eight) and Shaggy’s felling of loneliness. That before Scooby came into his life, he had no one. And even after the gang was united, Scooby remains his first and best friend. The slight idea of losing his friend to something that he can never compare (What is a Shaggy in face of a Blue Falcon Team membership) makes him lash out. We joke about Scooby being Shaggy service dog, but for all effects, Scooby is his emotional support, his light on the end of the tunnel that was his loneliness. The gang are his friends, but they are really different from him. Meanwhile he and Scoob are almost always in the same wave lane. And them suddenly Scoob appears to be changing. Moving away.
The entire movie is Shaggy dealing with the idea of losing Scooby. Of losing his first friend and scared cat companion. What he ultimately learns is that the power of his friendship with Scoob is way too strong to let simple thing as “going away” or “changing” diminished what they created through the years. That’s why he says he has changed in the final. That he has grow. Because he has come to realise that even if Scoob changes and becomes more brave or something, he has nothing to fear. Because being friends is to know that, even miles apart, dimensions apart, your friendship lives on.
By acknowledging that Scoob can change, or even leave but never truly abandon him, Shaggy himself grows.
That’s why he chooses to be the one stuck on the other side.
Because he knows that he is not alone, not really.
So the final count is:  HIGH points = 7,5 LOW points = 5,5
I liked the film. I was giggling like an idiot the entire time. My inner child was happy, even if my adult brain was not as pleased in many moments after further thought. However both my child heart and my adult brain agree that the movie is far from perfect. Many interesting ideas but poor execution of many of them.  With is fine. We all know that the Scooby movies have already peaked *cough* Legend of the Phantosaur *cough*
This was a long ass review of the Scoob! Movie.

HC: Mystery Gang
The gang's all here! (Except Scoob, but this is mostly a shipping piece.)
Inspired by all the content coming across my dash, I decided to whip up a late 50th birthday for these characters; Velma Dinkley, Fred Jones, Daphne Blake and Shaggy Rogers. The OG meddling kids.
I've always loved this crew. When I was younger, my favorite aunt and I would spend the entire day in our pajamas and binge Scooby Doo movies. My favorites as a kid were Ghoul School and Cyberchase. Those are some of my fave memories with that aunt, who I recently found out isn't as good of a person as I had thought. Scooby Doo might seem childish, but these guys were my childhood, y'know? They were important to me, and they still are.
(I've actually been thinking about making an Ao3 fic about em. Can you believe it)
Down to the headcanons
- They're a polyam quad! Bi Daphne, lesbian Velma (is somewhat into guys a tad bit, she just prefers lesbian), bi (and trans) Fred, and pan Shaggy.
- Velma's Hispanic! Specifically Latina. Shaggy's half-Mexican, half-Irish. While we're at it; Daph is Asian and Fred is an all American boyo.
- Daphne's Catholic and Shaggy and Velma are Jewish
- Fred has a distant relationship with his adoptive father, ever since his adopted mom left them when Fred was a little girl. Their bond was pretty decayed already when Fred came out in his young teen years, but it only got worse from then. Fred's dad doesn't abuse him physically, or verbally; he's present, sometimes, but not in an emotional sense.
- Fred has a lot of learning disabilities, including dyslexia, dyscalculia, and ADHD. This made it hard for him in class, which is how he met Daphne and Velma in early middle school. Daph and Vel were competing for the smartest of the grade; as an attempt to get the girls to be friendly to each other, they were both assigned to tutor Fred. Fred was, and still is, a well-meaning dumbass that drinks respect women juice, so both girls warmed up to him and his attempts to get them to be friends.
They were soon assigned to Shaggy, too, who was failing his classes because he was taking too many "sick" days, when in fact he was too anxiety-filled to get out of bed and face anyone.
The group quickly became besties and shared their full selves. Velma was there when Shaggy admitted to his parents about his anxiety, and they all went to choose a support dogo for him. (Scooby's legally Shaggy's emotional support dog, but Shaggy doesn't mind sharing.)
- As young teens, the group originally went by the Scooby Doo Detective Agency, before changing it to Mystery Inc/the Mystery Gang.
- Fred wears two shirts to better hide his breasts and help his dysphoria. His white shirt is actually a sweater, and under it is a button-up fancy blue long-sleeved shirt.
- Daphne is his hairdresser and fashion advisor, as she is for all of them. Daph always makes sure that whatever she suggests is within their comfort range.
- Shaggy has a panic disorder. Scooby Doo is his emotional support animal. Shaggy uses prescription marijuana to help with it.
- Daphne is always trying to prove herself (example; always running into danger and getting kidnapped) because her parents always compared her, the youngest, to her big sisters. Her sisters were successful, wealthy and independent women, while typical Daph had to keep getting saved by her partners. She loves feeling important, like she's the focus of everyone's attention. She tries to excel at everything, but is slowly starting to get better at not sprinting blindly into danger. (You can thank the Gang for that.)
- Daphne's mother is a celebrity supermodel by most days, acholic by night/some days. Her dad is a famous author. Neither of them approve of most of the things in Daphne's life; bisexuality, polyamory, mystery solving, Velma, Fred, Shaggy, Scooby... The list goes on.
- Daphne is an honorary member of the Hex Girls. She shows up sometimes when the triad needs another voice on stage. (Also, the Hex Girls are lesbians.)
- Velma's the mom friend.
- Velma Dinkley has always had a fixation for mysteries and figuring things out. She enjoys puzzles, crosswords, riddles, detective novels, serial killer documentaries, and horror movies. (She can always guess who the killer is.)
- She is fluent in Latin, Spanish, Mandarin and Morse Code.
- Velma's incredibly flexible, having taken martial arts and gymnastics as a child.
- This isn't headcanon, but I feel the need to mention it, as I don't think a lot of people know this is actually canon in multiple movies. Velma has a little sister named Madelyn, also known as "Doe Eyes Dinkley". Madelyn is a stage magician and is in clown college. She is an extroverted woman with a giant crush on Shaggy, who she continues to pine over. Both sisters are very overprotective of each other and mostly have a friendly relationship.
- The Gang eventually drop out of their shared community college to pursue mysteries, and to get away from their disapproving parents and overwhelming responsibilities. Velma does decide to take up online courses to get her degree.
(The Mystery Gang, including football jock Fred and track captain Shaggy, could have went to more prestigious schools, the girls because of their smarts and the boys on sport scholarships, but they were pressured to stay where their parents could see them.)
And that's my headcanons for them. I didn't mention some stuff because it's canon, but I'll recap real quick; Velma has coulrophobia (clown phobia) and aquaphobia (fear of water/sea), Scooby has an excitable, somewhat annoying nephew (Scrappy Doo), they're junior detectives/amateur sleuths, Fred's allergic to cats, they live in the Mystery Van, road trip for life, Shaggy's real name is Norville, Shag was briefly a vegetarian, Shaggy can do voice impressions, he was once a junior pilot, Daphne's a black belt in karate, Daph has a motorcycle, is an amateur musician, was a journalist a couple times, the Gang occasionally break up and go their seperate ways until a long-yearned for mystery pops up and serves as an excuse to get back together, those deals.
Peace! ✌️

Point-by-Point Scoob Analysis (second viewing, bc I’m bored)
Spoilers below!
Tumblr media
Why Venice Beach, I have to wonder? And why this song? I don’t dislike it, but I’m curious about the reasoning
The gyro scene is really fun XD
Shaggy’s intro is perfect - the music, the “Casey’s Creations” and Mystery Machine aesthetics, just beautiful. You can see the little shake in his hand as he switches to the podcast - he’s so alone :(
“I lose a lot of balls” funny AND sad. And Young Sheldon being lonely is on point for him
Gyro meat  - convenient! But yeah, I can see how Shaggy’s weird lunch combos would be off-putting to others
Oh, he found him ON Halloween?? That’s so odd. (But on brand)
“Well mostly man. It’s mostly just the suit that’s falcon.”
“Like no way bruh” Really? That... sounds odd coming from Shaggy.
...Since when do young boys care about blood sugar? Also, “We’re okay with that” XD
Baby Fred, Daphne, and Velma are also perfect
...No. No no. RBG is not a Slytherin. But that, braces Velma and Hogwarts references very much modernize the series and put them firmly in modern day (without going too out there).
The kids are such badasses, it’s awesome
The replication of the original credits is *perfect* - they even got the original Space Creep sound
Scooby handles the accounting? Also, how old are they supposed to be? If they’re expected to pay taxes and get called millennials, are they late 20s?
I’m really not convinced by the Simon Cowell bit, I’m sorry. They could have made him a bland British investor, not attached to the name. There really should have been some more time invested in this scene (but I AM glad Mystery Inc never agreed with Simon, or even considered he was right) (Also Simon - haven’t you heard of networking? Making friends to get ahead?)
Scooby bowling is such great physical comedy, and the chase is very Scooby Doo
Hyper-specific police code ftw
Falcon Fury!
You know Scooby and Shaggy are having a bad day when they’re *happy* to be in danger
The falcon entrance is admittedly funny
I really wish if Blue Falcon and Dynomutt had to have such a bug role, there’d been more about how Dynomutt feels about his original owner basically ditching him.  It seemed like that was supposed to have more significance, and then it didn’t.
The shake button XD and Dastardly is fantastic from the first
...right, because this script wasn’t also written by middle-aged men.
Also, how’d she know about the blue light?
Velma fanning out is fun
Tumblr media
The robots make me uncomfortable, and I’m not sure why.
Muttley <3
I appreciate that Falcon was trying to be resourceful.
“You’re now out of... everything.”
Scooby and Shaggy’s gift is to inspire - they’re the lucky charm
...And this is where I started to dislike Falcon. He’s just... he’s too dumb. The bravado is one thing, but  then Fred is a little too similar. I think Falcon is supposed to be a foil for Shaggy, but I don’t know... didn’t quite work for me.
OH! I didn’t get the connection between the Greek restaurant at the beginning and the Cerberus plot until now! Nice.
DeeDee deserves more credit, hands down. Honestly, make her Blue Falcon.
I love all the references in the arcade - Hex Girls, Hong Kong Phooey, LaffALympics
The fun house scene is really cool! And funny, so colorful
My mom really liked this bit with the Ferris Wheel and the bumper cars and the smoke cloud - more traditionally cartoony
And I started to dislike Falcon more here. -__- (Like you acknowledge Shaggy is hurting and then just decide let’s give the dog a super suit instead of focusing on the mission? 90% of what goes wrong in this move is his fault and I don’t like it)
Okay. I get that Shaggy is really insecure. And Scooby isn’t reassuring him at all. But it feels like there’s more going on here, and I wish he’d had the chance to talk about it more than he did to give us more context. (But I still maintain this is less contrived than Shaggy falling for that Mary Jane girl in the live action film, so I’ll let it pass)
I actually really like Daphne’s characterization as the people person (though I feel real bad Grey DeLisle wasn’t given a chance to voice her), and how the gang are quick to realize how much Shaggy and Scooby contribute. They were never down on them, but it’s still important.
Messick Mountain :)
Velma as Dynomutt was great
I do really like the plot and how it ties to friendship. Also, Muttley is perfect, my parents loved him.
Poor man’s Hemsworth
I initially questioned whether Scooby would really be safer off the ship. But of course that’s not the point - this kicks off the conflict. Remember kids: NEVER give someone an ultimatum.
I appreciate that this was the only poop joke in the movie. Unlike the original Scooby Doo movie...
And now Shaggy realizes he was an ass. But seriously - the “Shaggy’s refusal to change is tearing them apart” thing needed a little more finessing. I see where they were going, but didn’t quite make it home.
The Captain Caveman bit was a little... eh? Not sure what I’d put there instead. It does the point of showing Falcon and Scooby they’re not really traditional hero material.
Scooby looks so sad as he gets taken :(
See, this is where I feel like Falcon and Fred were too similar, though it is pretty funny
See... I don’t think this speech was earned. It’s beautiful. If I saw it in isolation it would be great. But something was missing in the buildup. I can’t see how Shaggy made it from “I screwed up” to “Friendship changing is okay.”
This whole Athens bit is so beautiful and cinematic, I hope this gets a chance to be in theaters someday!
Flying mystery machine!
FLUFFY!
Mystery Inc reunion <3 But poor Fred, his van up in flames
(Someone set this to “Your Wagon is On Fire” from Trail to Oregon!)
Dastardly and Muttley is actually pretty sweet, but not a Scooby-Shaggy redux. (My parents love the snicker)
THE ASCOT RETURNS! But this is usually the part where he figures out a trap.
Scooby and Shaggy growing and embracing their roles on the team <3
“I’m so weak” - my parents and I laughed hysterically at this
The Dynomutt-Falcon moment was nice :) (again, not sure it was earned). Also, cool wings are cool.
This really is a Scooby Doo Avengers
Shaggy becomes important in the worst possible way :(
“Back when we were kids, you saved me. Now it’s my turn.” Damn with the feeeeels
Scoooby :(
“But why would Alexander make a gate that would separate him from his best friend forever?” Martyrdom is not the only way, y’all
Aw, Dynomutt is trying
Had to throw in an unmasking
I guess they got backing after all!
(Wait... was Dick Dastardly the Simon Cowell at the beginning??? That would make so much sense, actually!! Is this confirmed?! )
Don’t know how I feel about the new Mystery Machine, but Fred is happy :)
DeeDee deserves a raise
Falcon Force! Falcon realizes he needs friends too. But Dastardly is at large...
Okay, second watch was less off-putting. I do like it! It’s colorful and sticks to the cartoon, and there’s clearly so much love here, for Scooby and all of Hanna Barbara. Admittedly, this isn’t really a mystery - it’s a superhero origin story, which admittedly the trailers should have prepared me better for. But we’ve seen Scooby mysteries on the big and small screen, so I see why they had to change it up to justify such a blockbuster animation project. (Not unlike Recess: School’s Out going from middle school slice of life to save-the-world adventure.) And we do get mystery-solving shenanigans in the beginning.
But as a result, things do feel a tad bit dumbed down, particularly with Blue Falcon, Fred, and Shaggy’s development. I don’t love that aspect, but I can see why that compromise had to be made.
So all in all, I think it’s a solid film! It’s more Trolls than Pixar, but honestly? Not sure I’d have Scooby Doo any other way.
