Inspiration behind your URL? My classic original URL was LinkWorshiper and had been since AIM first existed. I picked it because Zelda was the first fandom I ever joined. Now I’ve changed all my handles (except on AO3) to reflect my actual name, as my literary agent thinks it’s more professional.

Inspiration behind your blog title? Mean Girls. I always chuckle imagining Thomas and Jimmy as some Edwardian version of the Plastics.

Favourite item of clothing? My Downton livery waistcoat. And the stiff bosomed shirt and collars I have to go with it.

Are you friends with any exes? Nah. By the time I felt comfortable enough to possibly try, I also didn’t care enough to.

HELLO EVERYONE ok i’m finally doing this after like 84 years lmao

SO yeah several people in the past few months have asked me about my editing process and i said that i’d hopefully do it after gen 2 stuff and since i’m taking a break from gen 2 and wanna stall bc returning to gen 1 will be painful, ya girl got her ass to go through with it. keep in mind, this tutorial is for people who already know the basics of photoshop. if you don’t there’s many tutorials online that’ll help beginners. i’m gonna be editing a pic of val and chance all dressed up and ready to crash a prom to get lit with their homies maggie and eli

*rosanna pansino voice* LET’S GET STARTED

so i use reshade and i believe the version i have is 3.0.7 or something idk but it’s 3.0 and i switch between 3 presets that are my own. the one i use the most started with pickypikachu’s cinematic preset as a base.

now, i know not everyone has reshade, but there’s still a way you can mimic the DOF effect with photoshop. when my stubborn ass edited everything myself all i did was duplicate the photo, apply field blur and adjust the bokeh lighting, added a layer mask and with a brush using the color black, i “colored” in what i didn’t want to be blurry and BOOM ya got that DOF goodness

so for DOF i use either the marty mcfly shader or the matso shader and even both, like in this case. i also love that sweet mxao bc ooh yess them SHADOWS. but unfortunately bc i’ll never ever let go of alpha hair and you’ll have to rip them away from my cold dead hands, ya get this shit.

the dof and shadows cutting through the hair making it look ugly and blurry and just all around BLECH

so when taking screenshots, i take two photos. one with the dof and mxao and another without those shaders

now i open both pics in photoshop and layer the photo with the effects over the one without

ok this is totally optional and you don’t have to do it but i like to crop my photos and the preset for my cropping dimensions is 1150 x 705 bc that’s what i’m going to resize my photos to (w/ 300 resolution). again, totally optional, you don’t have to do this part but i do.

so now i add a layer mask to the top layer

next i select the brush tool and choose whatever brush i wanna use. i usually switch between these two brushes depending on what i need at the moment. and make sure the color you’re painting with is black.

and now just “paint” over the ugly parts to erase them. depending on your photo this can sometimes take a while, but hey ya get that dof and beautiful alpha hair. i also take this time to erase some of the blurriness that forms around my sims from the dof effect

right click on the layer and select “merge down” and i’m left with this. obviously, you see some parts that aren’t blurred anymore but i just fix it with the blur tool at 100% opacity, zoom in on the unblurred edges and blur them in with whatever brush i choose. i personally choose the one with hard edges and i make sure the brush size is very very small. this part’s also a lil time consuming so ya gotta be patient.

doesn’t that look better? now it’s time to get to the actual editing lmao. first, click layer > background layer to make it a background. this is necessary for me bc of the photoshop action i use.

so in order to give my pics that “crisp” look, i first reduce noise and these are my default settings

then i do topaz clean

then smart sharpen

then i use the liquify tool bc sometimes there’s jagged edges on the shoulders, elbows, chins, etc. that i wanna smooth out. i also use this to adjust facial expressions, like for this i wanna make the smiles curve up a lil bit more bc chalerie are in love and happy

now this is the part where i kinda nitpick bc i’m a perfectionist lmao like i clean up some lines on val’s arms and fix that weird spot on the collar of chance’s shirt, all that small stuff people wouldn’t notice but I DO so i fix it

alright now it’s time for me to draw hair! again, this is optional and i understand not everyone has a tablet or likes drawing hair so skip this if it ain’t your thang. first add a new layer for the hair.

i like to add extra hair to make it more full or fix clipping and “highlights” to kinda emphasize the lighting effects i’ll do later and i usually go with a lighter color of the hair for the highlights OR i do the color of the lighting. in this case i’m just going with a very light brown color. this brush is from this set by castrochew and i have the opacity at 100% and size at 3 px.

this is what it looks like after i draw all the hair. and for the highlights i always reduce the layer opacity to 50-60% or even less than that depending on how subtle i want them to be. after that, i merge them all down.

now it’s time to do all the shading and highlighting. make sure you do it all as separate layers, too. even tho i use mxao it still doesn’t do enough for me, so i always add shadows and i recommend you use dark brown for the shadows as black is a a bit too dark especially when you’re adding shadows around the faces. like y’all don’t want it to look like your sims put mud on their face. trust me guys i contour my face.

now take a hard edge brush and draw where you wanna add shadows

apply gaussian blur and erase any excess “shadows” then reduce the layer opacity to your liking. now keep doing that in other areas where you wanna add shadows. it all depends on the picture and i really just use my general knowledge of how lighting and shadows work. remember, make sure each shadow and highlight you add is a separate layer!

for highlights, use a light color, a soft edge brush, change the brush opacity to 60% and change the layer mode to “soft light”. like with the shadows, just paint whatever you wanna highlight, gaussian blur, reduce layer opacity, etc. then after you’re done shading and highlighting, merge all the layers down.

then to enhance the highlights even more i use the dodge tool with the exposure at 25% and paint over all the highlighted areas

so this is how it looks after i did all the time consuming stuff and now it’s time to play with COLOR YEAHHHHHH

this is the action i’ve been using forever and it’s a ride or die, always got my back, never fails me, always there when i need it. all i gotta do is click on that and press the “play” button and everything’s beautiful and colorful and all my problems seem to go away and suddenly the your lie in april soundtrack is playing the background

but most of the time i untick the “curves” layer from the action as it can be too bright for me and i just adjust the curves of the image to what i prefer.

now it’s my favorite part! time to add that good-ass LIGHTING and since i went crazy with the lights for the background, it’s gonna be fun to do this one hehehe. ok so first duplicate your image and then choose the color of the lighting you want. for this pic, i want the lighting to be a nice light warm yellow/orange color

now for the brush mode, choose “linear dodge (add)” and change the opacity to 35%-45% or hey even higher if ya wanna go bright as fuck. and get a soft edge brush and make it big. like fucking BIG. you see the size i put it at? yeah, make it big bc we want that beautiful shit EVERYWHERE

YEAH DAS DAT SHIT I LIKE. keep painting over areas ya wanna see glow and even paint over the same area twice to make it brighter. hell, don’t just stop at one color. add other colors of light if ya want. add some pinks or blue or purple, adjust the brush size, go crazy. BLIND EVERYONE.

buuuuuuut with all the sweet lighting, it tends to make your pretty pic look all washed out and also lighting doesn’t always work that way. and that’s why i told y’all to duplicate your image bc we’re gonna add a layer mask again and with a soft edge brush you gotta erase some of that lighting. change the brush mode back to normal, put the opacity at 100% and make sure your brush is black and get rid of what you need to. but what’s good about this is you don’t have to be perfect and it’s ok if there’s still some lights on your sims bc now it looks like the light is shining on them awwww. now merge that layer down

now color balance! i like to enhance the red, magenta, and blue most of the time but as always it all depends on the photo and what your preference is.

all that’s left to do now is change the image size. i change the resolution to 300 ppi (it doesn’t really do anything but like it’s become a habit of me to do it so i do it idk) and make sure if you’re making your image smaller, you apply “bicubic sharper” so your image stays sharp when you change the size

AND THIS IS THE FINAL PRODUCT.

so this is my editing process and i hope some of you learned some stuff from this. also please keep in mind that i also encourage y’all to do your own spin on things when you edit. i’m all for taking tips from others and learning cool new tricks but develop a style that fits YOU. eventually you’ll find it and i know that you’ll end up creating something amazing that shows how unique and lovely you are.

1. How to Set Up the Masters for Your Catalog Template

Step 1

Open InDesign and go to File > New > Document.

Choose Print from the options along the top of the New Document window, and click on Letter for the page size.

Set the number of Pages to 8 and make sure Facing Pages is checked.

Set the Top Margin to 22 m, Bottom to 23 mm, Inside to 25 mm, and Outside to 20 mm.

Add a 5 mm Bleed to all edges of the page except the Inside edge, which should be kept to 0 mm, and then click Create.

Step 2

Expand the Layers panel (Window > Layers) and double-click on Layer 1, renaming it Background.

Create two more new layers—Images and Type.

Then lock both the Background and Images layers, keeping Type active.

Step 3

Expand the Swatches panel (Window > Color > Swatches). You can either manually create the CMYK swatches pictured below or download the provided ASE file.

To install the ASE file, go to the Swatches panel’s main menu, and choose Load Swatches. Navigate to the downloaded ASE file and Open it. The swatches will load directly into the panel.

Step 4

Expand the Pages panel (Window > Pages) and double-click on the A-Master icon at the top of the panel to bring up the master spread on screen.

Use the Type Tool (T) to create a text frame at the top-left corner of the left-hand page, typing in the name of the brand.

From either the top Controls panel or the Character and Paragraph panels (Window > Type & Tables > Character / Paragraph) set the Font to Karoll Bold Round, Size 12 pt, and increase the Tracking (letter-spacing) to 170.

Create a second text frame at the same horizontal alignment on the right-hand page, typing in the season or year of the catalog. Set the Font to Karoll Round, Size 12 pt, Tracking 30, and set the text to Align Right.

Select both text frames, and switch the Font Color to [Paper].

Step 5

Create a text frame at the bottom-left corner of the left-hand page. Set your type cursor inside the frame, before heading up to Type > Insert Special Character > Markers > Current Page Number.

Set the Font of this to Karoll Round, Size 12 pt, and the Font Color to C=100 M=84 Y=49 K=64.

Step 6

Edit > Copy and Edit > Paste the page number frame, moving it over to the bottom-right corner of the right-hand page.

Switch the text to Align Right.

2. How to Create a Front Cover for Your Catalog

Step 1

Click on Page 1 in the Pages panel to return to the first page of your document.

Lock the Type layer and unlock the bottom layer, Background.

Use the Rectangle Tool (M) to create a shape across the whole page, setting the Fill to C=2 M=10 Y=13 K=0.

Step 2

Use the Rectangle Frame Tool (F) to create an image frame on the Images layer, allowing for a small margin around the edges of the page.

File > Place, choose one of your images for the cover, and Open it.

Step 3

On the Type layer, create a large text frame for the title of the catalog, setting the Font of this to Karoll, 60 pt, All Caps, 170 Tracking, and a [Paper] Font Color.

Add a smaller subtitle below, with a C=2 M=10 Y=13 K=0 Font Color.

3. How to Create a Stylish Spread for Your Catalog

Step 1

Scroll down to Page 2 of your document. On the Background layer, use the Rectangle Tool (M) to create a shape across Page 2, setting the Fill to C=18 M=13 Y=13 K=0.

Create a second shape across the facing page, setting the Fill to C=78 M=56 Y=32 K=17.

Step 2

Working on the Images layer, use the Rectangle Frame Tool (F) to create a tall, narrow frame across the right side of Page 2.

File > Place a portrait-oriented image into the frame.

Create two smaller frames and scatter these around Page 2, placing different images into each.

Step 3

Switch to the Ellipse Tool (L) and, while holding Shift, create a circle frame at the top-left of Page 3, placing a product image inside.

Copy the circle and Paste it, positioning it to the right side of the first circle and swapping in a different product image.

Select both circles and Copy and Paste them, moving them directly below.

Swap new product images into each.

Step 4

Working on the Type layer, create a large text frame in the white space on Page 2, typing in the section number and setting the Font to Karoll Round, Size 180 pt.

Match the Font Color to the blue background of the facing page.

Add a title below, set in Karoll Round, Size 57 pt, and a [Paper] Font Color.

Step 5

You can add product details and pricing below or next to each image, setting the Font to Karoll Round, Size 10 pt, and matching the Font Color to the background color of the facing page.

4. How to Populate the Rest of Your Catalog Template

Step 1

Now you’ve put together the first spread of your catalog, you can use this as a foundation for creating further spreads in your design.

Make sure all the layers are unlocked, and then drag your mouse over the whole of the first spread, before copying it.

Scroll down to the next spread (Page 4) and Edit > Paste in Place.

Step 2

You can now start tweaking the different elements of the pasted design.

Begin by editing the Fill Color of the shapes sitting on the Background layer, using the color swatches available in the Swatches panel.

Swap in different images for the frames sitting on the Images layer.

Finally, adjust the text content and Font Color of the text frames sitting on the Type layer.

Step 3

Repeat the Copy and Paste in Place process for further spreads, editing the background color, images, and text of each.

You can easily add more pages to your template by clicking on the Create New Page icon at the bottom of the Pages panel.

5. How to Export Your Template for Printing

Step 1

When you’ve finished working on your catalog template and are ready to send it off for printing, first File > Save your work.

Then go to File > Export.

In the Export Adobe PDF window that opens, choose Press Quality from the Adobe PDF Preset menu at the top.

Make sure Pages, not Spreads, is selected.

Step 2

Click on Marks and Bleeds in the window’s left-hand menu.

Check both All Printer’s Marks and Use Document Bleed Settings, before clicking Export.

Awesome work! You can send this PDF straight off to be printed professionally at a print shop or online print-on-demand service.

It’s been a busy month!

First I went to Realm Makers, which has become one of my favorite writing conferences, and then to a small local writing conference at Taylor University, my first time visiting there. In a couple of weeks I’ll head west again to attend the Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers conference. It’s like I’m trying to get my annual allowance of writing conference in just a few weeks!

Gen Con sold out completely. Not a badge to be had.

Then I had Gen Con, an awesome gathering of 65,000 or so (final attendance not yet released for this year) of your geekiest friends to talk about games, books, history, film, anime, and pretty much everything related. Gen Con is always super-busy for me, because I teach sessions (this year I presented twice on Japanese Folklore & Mythology and once on Norse mythology, as well as teaching costuming workshops from Featherweight Armor to Moldmaking to a make-and-take for simple, hallway-safe wings) and because we compete in the costume contest, which because of Gen Con’s process is mostly a whole-day affair.

This year, by request of my talented friend Emi, we went as a group of Vulcans from the iconic Star Trek episode “Amok Time.” I played Stonn, Spock’s romantic rival for his bride T’Pring. We paraded through the convention center, aggressively jingling Vulcan jingle-coffins and displaying our lirpa (it’s that improbably off-balance weapon) and nodding politely at everyone who recognized us. It was fantastic fun, and we got a lot of crowd love from fans, and then we won third place in the Professional division. (First and second place went to Queen Amidala and historically-accurate Belle, who totally deserved it. Their costumes were far more complex than our low-budget ’60s television designs.)

Our stage presentation was live-singing “A Message From T’Pring.” If that title prompts you to start humming the Hamilton soundtrack, yep, you’re right.

We also had one of my favorite joke-props ever.

I did get to play some Pathfinder, including the Season 9 opening special, and that was fun. (I have a level 12 kitsune sorceress. Of course.)

We saw cars from all over the US and even Canada.

The Solar Eclipse

After the fourth day of Gen Con, we went home and loaded the car to drive to Kentucky the next morning, where I’d reserved a parking spot in Hopkinsville, the point of longest totality for the 2017 solar eclipse. The community college campus was an eclipse festival, with food trucks, lectures, and a weather balloon launch.

I’d seen partial solar eclipses before, but never totality, and wow. I’d read repeatedly that there is a real difference, and it’s true. The partial coverage was fun, especially nearing full coverage, when the sunlight got all weird like someone had screwed up the Photoshop brightness/contrast settings. You want to worry that you have eclipse blindness already (you don’t, it takes a day or two to show effects even if you stupidly stared directly into the sun), but it’s just the atmosphere refracting the reduced light.

Totality was a very trippy experience. The sun was SO BLACK, and my poor phone camera just wasn’t equipped to handle the contrast. Cicadas sang as twilight fell. I could see the corona with my naked eye. There was a 360-degree sunset. It was really cool, and not nearly long enough even at the country’s longest totality.

You don’t realize how bright the sun is until you see how much of a shadow it casts at just a tenth of its power.

Being from the Midwest, I thought I’d seen all the fair food, but this gravy-and-eggs-stuffed pretzel was new to me. (No, it wasn’t tasty. They were just out of most else.)

Then we started the trip home. We gave up trying to leave and went inside the community college to wait in the air conditioning for an hour, until the parking lot had cleared enough that we could get on the road. Then we headed off to charge the car and go home.

It took a bit over 5 hours, including charging and heavy traffic, to reach Hopkinsville Community College that morning. It took a bit over 10 hours to get home, because traffic was so bad. Gas stations (we stopped for snacks) were packed with lines 4 and 5 cars deep waiting for fuel (consumed even faster as people idled and ran their air conditioning), and some ran out of gas. A station I was in for snacks was out of Rand McNally maps, as people looked for alternate ways home. A woman there said she’d been trying to leave the area for 4 hours. Did you know that Google Maps traffic layer has a color beyond red?

That was when we could get Google Maps at all. Cell signal is patchy at the best of times in rural Kentucky; the network simply could not handle the demands of a couple hundred thousand extra phones all searching for signal.

We did better than most, though. We left the main roads and hit remote back routes which haven’t seen five vehicles in a row since Daniel Boone was guiding settlers through. While the back roads had their own issues — clearly some of the eclipse drivers weren’t used to driving rural roads at night, with the lack of street lights and clearly-painted lines — they were at least moving steadily.

It wasn’t really anyone’s fault. Western Kentucky’s infrastructure just isn’t built to handle that quantity of humanity. I saw that the town of Kelly’s annual August festival usually draws about 2,000 visitors to the town of 300, but they were expecting 20,000 for the overlapping festival and eclipse. And that was just in tiny Kelly, and the eclipse path ran nearly the length of the state.

The slow trip home gave me a chance to read up on the aliens, though.

Little Green Men

That festival in Kelly is the annual Little Green Men Days, commemorating an alleged close encounter 62 years ago.

On August 21, 1955 — yes, the solar eclipse date is an anniversary — 5 adults and 7 children reported an assault on their farmhouse by “little men” they claimed were extraterrestrials. (The color green was added in later media reports, and this may be the trope-namer for the phrase.) They fled to the Hopkinsville police station (their farm was between Hopkinsville and Kelly) to ask for help, saying they’d been fighting the creatures for 4 hours.

The whole affair started when one of the men, visiting from out of state, had gone out to retrieve water from the well. He saw a bright rainbow-colored light which he described as a flying saucer shoot overhead and land beyond a nearby treeline, hissing. He went inside and reported it to the family, who didn’t pay him much heed — until not long after when the little men, with gangling arms, stumpy legs, and a swaying gait, approached the house and began to peer in through the windows.

(It occurred to me, as I read, how much these “little men” sounded like the cinematic character E.T. in their description. But guess what? Steven Spielberg actually developed a film based on the Hopkinsville encounter, originally in the horror genre but ultimately gentle in nature and titled E.T. the Extraterrestrial. I’m gonna bet E.T.’s physical shape was a direct lift from the Hopkinsville reports.)

A dozen local police, state troopers, military police, and county deputy sheriffs went out to the farm and found no aliens, just plenty of evidence of the family’s shooting out the windows and an iridescent substance where one of the creatures had allegedly been shot. The Suttons and Taylors did not go with them to investigate. After a few hours they left the farm and told the family to go home, which they did — and the creatures returned at 3:30 am. Some of the family and friends were gone by morning. The rest left the farm within days, whether from fear of the creatures or because of harassment from disbelieving neighbors. None ever retracted their story, and the three surviving witnesses refuse to speak of it today. The goblins, as they became known, have not been seen in the area since.

Project Blue Book lists the incident as a hoax in a single typewritten line, with no further explanation or comment. However, Geraldine Sutton-Stith, daughter of Elmer “Lucky” Sutton who saw and shot at the creatures, says that a man knocked at her door to share his father’s deathbed confession of retrieving UFO wreckage for the federal government on that very night and just a few miles away. Of course, no evidence of this deathbed confession was provided.

Modern psychologists have concluded that drunken farmboys mistook some owls for space aliens. It’s clearly bunk. No, not the farmboys’ story, but the debunking of it.

Rodney Schmaltz and Scott Lilienfeld, famed debunkers of pseudoscience, wrote in 2014 that the Suttons and Taylors were probably intoxicated and mistook Great Horned Owls for aliens. This simply reeks of some smug ivory tower professor dismissing those they consider their clear intellectual inferiors. Sure, Billy Ray Taylor was just an out-of-work carnie, and had a stereotypical hillbilly name like Billy Ray, and it would be easy to make fun of him. But the professors need to keep in mind the following basic points about farmboys and owls:

These were rural folk who had to go outside to get their water from a well. They would have been familiar with owls. They would have known if owls had a nest nearby, as alleged.

One of the creatures allegedly grabbed Billy Ray’s head as he went onto the porch. A grab from an owl leaves a significant mark; there’s a reason raptor caretakers use those heavy leather gauntlets. He would have received a lot more than a hair pull, and there would have been a significant injury for law enforcement to document, had it indeed been an owl defending a nest as suggested.

Nothing fits with normal owl behavior. The Suttons and Taylors described the creatures’ rolling gait with long arms and short legs. Owls don’t walk around vulnerable on the ground, especially not when defending a nest, and especially not during 4 hours of gunfire (and, the farmboys say, at least a few direct shots). And they don’t tolerate 4 hours of gunfire and then come back later to start up again.

The family emptied 4 boxes of .22 ammo at the creatures, plus an unknown quantity of shotgun slugs. (The men reported that bullets make a clinking metallic sound when they struck the silver-clad little men, and that one was knocked from a tree but could not be found later.) Keep in mind .22s generally come in boxes of 100 or even 500. The smallest I’ve seen is 50, and I cannot imagine that in rural Kentucky of the 1950s, when people used guns weekly for varmint control and hunting for food, that the boxes were smaller. The report doesn’t specify the size of the boxes, but I find it unlikely that men who almost certainly hunted for meals couldn’t kill a bird in several hundred shots.

The eyewitnesses described the “little men” as “silver” and “shining.” It’s suggested that this was a confusion of the owls’ reflective eyes, but owl eyes don’t reflect silver. Nor do their bodies shine.

Most key, the initial news report specifies that law enforcement found no evidence of drinking. While every skeptic’s take I’ve seen includes words like “intoxicated” or “moonshine,” the only support I’ve found for this is that a later visitor to the farmhouse saw “a few beer cans” in the trash. A few beer cans is not enough to work 5 adults into a panic, if the beers were even consumed that night, and not in the trash from a previous or later time. Law enforcement at the time said it was a respectable family without a history of absurd behavior, and the matriarch who’d owned the house for decades had a reputation for avoiding alcohol and disallowing liquor at home.

Does this mean I believe they were aliens? Of course not. I don’t have any evidence to say what happened that night, whether aliens or escaped silver-painted circus monkeys (another explanation, somewhat weakened by the lack of local circuses or reported missing monkeys) or straight-up hoax. I only say that I find the popular owl explanation arrogant and insupportable. Look, I live in the country, I’ve been startled by owls — a screech owl 15 feet over your head in the inky creepy midnight will definitely get your attention — and I knew each time within a second that it was an owl and I just had to wait for my heart rate to drop back to normal. That 5 country-bred adults would be convinced for hours that it was something else? I just don’t buy it.

It was certainly a less expensive and less destructive invasion than most Hollywood versions.

Billy Ray wasn’t the only one to report lights in the sky that night. Were they meteors? Maybe. Or maybe Billy Ray and his friends successfully defended Earth from alien invasion and we owe them a debt of gratitude for scaring off the extraterrestrials with cheap .22 ammo. May all invasions be so easily repelled.

Sableye

Today, the close encounter is remembered in Kelly’s festive Little Green Men Days, but also in several geeky pop culture specimens. I’ve already mentioned E.T., but allegedly the Pokémon Sableye is also based on these creatures. And Paizo borrowed the name and concept for their goblin creature the Hobkins, which you may fight in Pathfinder, should you play at Gen Con or another geeky gathering.

I saw your gif tutorial, thank you for answering :) unfortunately I'm still stuck. When I tried to import, it says the DynamicLink is not available. I've tried other means to import the snapshots I already have. But it won't allow me to 'make frames from layers'. I don't know if I need more programs for this. I don't have the slightest knowledge with these things, so I don't really know. Each tutorial gives requires diff programs. Do I need Quicktime? Or another player? When I actually manage

No problem!When I got my new laptop in October, I first downloaded Photoshop CS6 but there was no timeline so I went back to my old CS5. I used this link to download Photoshop CS5 Extended (you don’t need to crack it, just follow what it is said on the post to convert it en English).

I recommand you to download this version so you an follow easily my ‘how to make a gif’ tutorial. To do Import > Video Frames to Layers… you’ll need to download Quicktime first (it’s mandatory to import your .mp4 file on Photoshop, that’s why you have white screen for now… also sometimes it takes a few seconds to show the preview of the .mp4 file on ‘Import Video to Layers).

Don’t use snapshots and KMPlayer, I used to do that and it wastes so much time compared to what I do now (it took me literally two minutes to make the gif I’ve made for the tutorial).

Like I said in my tutorial, I use Freemake and it’s making my life as gif maker easier. Now, quick mini tutorial to show you how to use Freemake (I have the 4.1.2 version, download it here bc the newest version might not allow you to use the ‘cutting video’ option for free! and btw, yes, it takes 84 years to open Freemake sometimes): [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] [6] [7] [8]

After doing this, just go on Photoshop, follow the gif tutorial and…
