What's Left? / Spoilers

Since we're now officially over halfway (sadness), I thought I'd once again compile all the scenes we have yet to see from trailer and the OST MVs. (In some of the clips in the 'So What?' MV featuring Top and Mew, particularly those with Ford in them, I struggle to tell if it's purely conceptual or if those scenes will actually take place in the series.) Some of these appear to be BTS photos too…

Cast/Crew Spoilers:

*I'm sure there are things I've either forgotten about or overlooked, so if there are more to add to this list please do not hesitate to let me know 🙃

First said Ep 11 is 'perfect,' with a lot of happiness and affection. This is most certainly a lie.

First also said there is a scene in Ep12 where Khaotung out-acts himself.

Both Book and Jojo have made comments about Mew's wild side/Reputation era causing him to spiral out of control. (We've already seen some of this but could suggest more going forward.)

In an interview today, First hinted that Sand will soon do bad things (source).

Khaotung said once before that everyone will come to understand their true feelings over the course of the series.

FK said in an interview before the series' filming that their characters would be together in the end.

Have yet to see what the official OF Twitter account deems the 'hottest scene of life' (source).

Jojo has hinted at a threesome (not sure how much to believe this.)

Jojo also commented on the possibility of a Sand/Nick kiss on his Instagram story.

In a pre-series' interview, First said he has a romantic scene with someone other than Khaotung whom is he is also close with. (Mix has acted sus in interviews/on socials, so it could be him.)

Ok, that’s everything I can think of! Hopefully there are no glaring hints I’ve forgotten about, lol.

Sand has to protect himself and he has to make his own space his own again, to protect his heart, to protect his life and his dreams from what they could be with Ray into what they must be without him.

But he's still going to go to him when he sees how he's hurt and that's when Ray is going to break.

Ray sees himself as a burden and a jinx, an unlovable man who deserves to drink himself to death the same as his mother and when Mew punches him, he will have nothing. Nothing at all.

And he won't be able to turn to Sand because he is a burden and a jinx and he doesn't deserve someone caring about him and he doesn't deserve anything but the pain because he fails everyone he loves by loving them.

Ray might not always know he's doing that but he will do it. He's going to self-destruct in the only way he knows how... hurting himself.

How do you think Only Friends will play out? I can’t work out yet if it’s going to go the traditional BL route and give all 3 pairs a happy ending or split them all up and be gloriously messy!

I’m leaning towards guessing that SandRay and TopMew will end up together after lots of angst and drama but BostonNick won’t (Boston gets punished by the narrative and Nick’s collateral damage)….

What do you think will happen and what would you like to happen?

What do I hope for?

Mew the Mastermind, I want Mew to be intentionally manipulating everyone and every thing, possible for revenge for one of his friends, maybe Ton? Maybe Ray?

What do I think will happen?

I think this is pretty clearly Friend Zone territory, so very messy. Unhappy for some, happy for others, open-ended or "return to form" for most.

There is also the possibility that it will "twist" by ending unhappy for everyone, or in the death of a character (like The L Word). (My money is on Mew or Ray.) That's a bit more Japanese style but I wouldn't put it past them. Jojo knows his heritage in gay narratives, if not yaoi filming or plot.

There are no tropes being activated in this at all, so I think we can safely say there's no chance this is/will be BL.

Which means the REAL twist would be if everyone ended up HEA. But that would feel disingenuous to the audience, so I think that highly unlikely.

As always with my predictions: I reserve the right to crow about it if I'm right, and forget I said anything if I'm wrong.

I hate Dan let me explain

Here I’ll start without the work violations. Dan only thinks about sleeping with Nick. He doesn’t care about Nick at all. The way nick got up to dance with him and Dan IMMEDIATELY STARED at nicks lips and went in for a kiss. FUCKING ICKY. No. No. Texting Nick ALL the time. Going to Nicks place of day work without announcement because why would Nicks dad be at the counter if Nick knew that was going to happen. Dan’s little speech about how kisses feel better when there are feels was hella manipulative. Here let me give you a situation.

You apologize for kissing your younger friend because they didn’t seem interested in more kisses or anything else after coming back from the restroom.

Your younger friend says it’s fine didn’t mean anything while looking really numb

Do you?

A. Ask them what’s going on? Maybe try to comfort them.

B. Make a manipulative statement to turn the convo to you and then fuck your younger friend on the table where you both work.

C. Tell your younger friend your feelings

Anyways kids I’ll say it until I’m blue in the face NICK IS AN INTERN YOU DONT WORK THE INTERNS LIKE THAT ITS WRONG IDK HOW DAN IS GETTING AWAY WITH THIS HE IS A SHIT BOSS AND I WOULD SUE THE SHIRT OFF OF DANS BACK. My prediction is Dan is going to confront Boston. I don’t think Dan would be shitty to Nick but guilty my baby I think is going to be the move. But we know Boston. I doubt that will work. I would love to see Boston defend him and Nick.

I know I’m dreaming here but I really want Jim and Frenchie to have a weird little friendship this season. Like they were both kidnapped and as far as they know everyone else is dead so I’m just imagining them trusting each other out of necessity and then eventually getting just attached enough that they go a little out of their way to watch each other’s backs. I mean they still both have their own interests to protect and if Jim got a chance to escape and it meant leaving Frenchie behind or vice versa I think they’d still go for it but like checking after they raid a wedding to make sure they both made it out alright. Trying not to let each other out of their sight because they let the others out of their sight and now they don’t know what happened to them. That kind of thing.

One thing I really hope we’ll see in future episodes is Ray’s dawning realization that he’s starting to feel much more than he ever planned.

I want him to give Sand those lingering looks and then catch himself and wonder when and why he began to see Sand as his emergency contact. I want Sand to confess his feelings and Ray to be in shambles, knowing he feels the same, but not knowing what to do with it.

And when Sand inevitably walks away from him, I want Ray to cuddle with the Poor Boy shirt.

Jojo has been using romance films as inspiration for the couples for SandRay it's the before midnight trilogy thingy he's tweeted something about it at one point. I FINALLY FIGURED OUT WHAT BOSTONNICK'S ONE IS.............. IT'S BRIDGET JONES' DIARY. Bridget is loud, no filter absolute disaster she's often framed a joke Mark doesn't see her that way and confesses he likes her as she is and it's a big turning point in how Bridget looks at herself and her relationship with Mark. Now who else has confessed they love someone just as they are and doesn't need to change anything about themselves JOJO I SEE YOU I CONNECTED THE DOTS

I had to go watch Bridget Jones Diary again. But I can see the dots too 😭😭 “someone just the way you are”. Boston also tells Nick early on he doesn’t need to change anymore he’s cute the way he is.

I really hope Nicks confession that he feels the same about Boston really sticks because Nick has tried to change himself for Boston to be perfect. I don’t see a ton of Boston and Nick in Bridget and Mark. Boston is unapologetically himself with a group of friends who support and judge him like Bridget though. But I sure as hell hope that Boston gives up New York for Nick. It does look that way with him looking up online university courses in photography. I also…. What if…..
