Something I miss from earlier eras of the creative side of the internet was things just being unabashedly low-budget. Just all unashamedly amateur, unprofessional, ‘I don’t own a good camera but I have a story to tell you’, ‘I can’t afford a good mic but I have a song to sing for you,’ ‘I don’t have any kind of background in editing or lighting and I only just picked up this guitar last Tuesday but here’s an entire musical me and my friends wrote about our favourite book, we filmed it on a potato and put it up on YouTube in ten minute segments because we thought it was pretty funny.’

from a non English speaker : I don't feel heard when I speak in English , I am convinced that I can't express my essence in a cultural aspect , wich makes me feel like I'm keeping others in a fake comfort zone while getting nothing in return , I weirdly feel it's my responsibility keeping Tumblr and any social media a recognizable and familiar place ( especially for Americans )

i've been trying to put into words why i don't feel the need to defend taylor against all the bullshit takes that came after the grammys and it's because it doesn't feel loud anymore. i used to write essays about bs like this (remember when people said she was crying because she was mad she didn't win at the 2016 grammys, when ed won?) but now it feels like a bunch of people yelling from a glass box, it doesn't feel like an overall reflection of the public opinion, it doesn't feel like it would knock her over if she were to read it. it's just background noise

"Fiction isnt reality itself, but it does affect reality, so you have to be mindful of your own consumption and how you interact with it after, especially if you're going in a fandom setting" is not a crazy statement to understand, and yet it feels like it on the internet

People are acting like it's the shipping that ruined modern fandoms (like shipping and fanfics weren't a thing before ffnet and ao3 even existed) when in reality it couldn't be more obvious it's actually lack of tolerance for opinions you disagree with
