Whenever I came across to this Nekotalia sketch, I always wondered who's peaking on Finland.
Tumblr media
It kinda looks like Neko! Sweden but he's not the type of person to stalk, so it's probably Denmark since the shadow is quite fluffy.

All right, I lied I’m talking about it again
CW for mentions of sexual assault, CSA, supposed, pedophilia, fandom, discourse, kink, etc, etc
First, let me explain to those confused, what happened and then I’ll defend myself and then we’ll leave it there because once I go through everything your opinion is just going to be based on your point of view and I can’t really argue you out of that which is fine, so just go ahead and block me if you think I’m a creep weirdo or anything else that Radiohead says
Today as I am in class packing up my shit to leave right after my presentation I get a notification from a Tumblr mutual that said that a Tumblr blog I’ve never heard of or interacted with is posting about me in a harassing way so I go and I check it into my surprisethey posted screenshots of my most recent fanfiction. I miss you Mr. Miller.
The post explicitly called me a pedophile. I’ll share the screenshots, but the username as far as I can tell has been cropped out of everything. If you want to send and ask to this person and say your peace, I can’t stop you, but I ask you not harass this person, and simply report the post, if you know who it is
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In one of the re-blogs or an answer to an ask, they called for mass, reporting my blog
No, I don’t say this to say that people who have been through what I’ve been through can’t be pedophiles or abusers, because they absolutely can but I say this to say why I had such a reaction to this and why I write the things I write
I have been a victim of child, sexual abuse was stocked, threatened and sexually harassed by an older man. When I was 17, lost my virginity to rape and 18, and then was raped again at 19 so believe me when I say that throwing around these words is shocking to me to just call me a pedophile. I write the things I write, innocent, reader, virgin reader, daddy kink, because of the things that I have been through sometimes as a reclamation of the experiences that I have suffered, sometimes as coping sometimes as comfort depends on the story.
No, let’s talk the specific issues
1. Shoes. Before I saw any of this, someone had DM me politely mentioning the shoes saying that they looked like child feet and that they wanted to make sure they were adult feet. I responded back that when I found the shoes on Pinterest they didn’t say anything one way or another, but I specifically look at the descriptions of clothing items because I don’t want to use clothing items that aren’t made for adults. If I can help it however, reverse image search shows that those are in fact an adult size and an adult model.
2. The dress once again, when I found the dress on Pinterest, I had already sorted out several dresses that I liked that first glance, but when I look at the description they said, teen or tween. It’s hard to tell right away it was certain styles there’s no model the dress is meant for what age I remember in my young adult hood when I was still dressing feminine and was a much smaller size. I sometimes found clothes at thrift stores. I thought were cute and would later find out they were meant for teens or twins, such as life.
2 Readers. Reader is 21+. Me personally I don’t put reader is 18+ in all my stories or my age gap stories, nor do I expect to see them when I read age gap stories in other peoples works, because I just assume everyone is an adult unless there’s some thing that tips me off against that, however, straight off the bat, the idea of being fucked in your childhood bedroomI feel like implies that she is one no longer a child and two doesn’t live there anymore. A couple chapters in, her and Joel are at her apartment and she was buying a new mattress having an apartment in itself implies at least 18 buying a new mattress is something you do in your 20s lol because no one was still in their name is gonna get excited about a mattress sale on Presidents’ Day. Then she was out drinking with Joel in a bar and yes, minors can get snuck into bars all the time I was a minor snuck into bars, however in this particular context, it just doesn’t make sense because Joel reader were already afraid of being seen together together. Joel wouldn’t want to add buying drinks for someone under 18 and taking them home after the bar to the list of worries and I know that in a lot of countries, the age of drinking can vary but in the US we’re both I live and where Joel fictionally lives the drinking age of 21, hence 21+ no none of the stuff I mentioned guarantees and reader but to me it’s coding in the same way that the people making accusations towards me are saying that reader is “coded“ as a child
3. Sex in the church. This was an afterthought in the person‘s post but I’ll address it anyway because they’re losing their mind that I mentioned having sex in a church for the context of the thick. Specifically, they had sex in a church bathroom, not in the actual sanctuary, or the pews, or anything however, for the record, I don’t got a problem with fanfiction having sex in a church because it’s not real. I would never actually have sex in a church, I try to go up to avoid going to a church as much as possible. The fanfiction isn’t real, it can’t hurt you
Lesson fucking learned, explicitly say reader is 18+ every time or someone is gonna accuse you of being a pedo
In the end, it’s not gonna change anyone’s minds. Because if you think that calling someone daddy, being hyper or liking to be babied, anything like that, makes you a pedophile, then I can’t really ration my way out of this.
However, I want to say thank you to everyone who reached out. A lot of blogs I’ve never interacted with a lot of friends, mutuals and on or blogs that I’ve followed on here for a year. Now I’ve reached out to me and offer their support which I really really appreciate and I cannot appreciate enough.
Hopefully I can still enjoy my cousins wedding this weekend and get my schoolwork done that I need to before going back to classes on Monday and that this doesn’t make more worse my already precarious mental health. But I’ve gotten so much love in so many kind words that it’s hard not to feel grateful for the amount of support I’ve gotten.
Between this and a minor hoopla about my pride even, I’m kinda sick of tumblr sometimes but y’all remind me of the good
Yes, you can re-blog, and if you wanna know who it is then ask someone else that’s fine I don’t really care that much. I just don’t want to be dog piling the person.
However, please report it. Because people are still sharing it, and commenting and liking especially about the shoe size
That’s it that’s my peace

any tips on making moodboards? I been trying & am not very good lol
*cracks knuckles* boy oh boy do I have some tips! or more like a walkthrough i guess?
The first step is to find a good app. I've found InShot to be simple to use (for photos, collages, and videos.) It's available on both android and apple, and while there is a paid version [which takes away ads, gives a few bonus filters, and removes the watermark from video files,] I've found it works just as well to use the paid version. It allows for many different layouts and canvas sizes, and up to nine images.
Next, find images! Think about what kind of moodboard you want to make, and think of some things that are iconic for it. For example, a Wonderland themed moodboard might include clocks and mushrooms and teacups, while a Rapunzel themed moodboard might include flower crowns and chalk drawings. I've found the best way to find an image to use is to google "[thing] aesthetic" or "[color] [thing] aesthetic." I've also found it can give the eye a nice break to include textures, like "[color] crochet blanket texture" or "wooden plank texture aesthetic." It gives your moodboards an almost palpable feel when put together properly.
Once you've found all the images you need, compile them into one image using the collage function on the app. Be sure to pick a layout and size you like. A basic 3 by 3 square is typical, but you can expand beyond that! Some layouts might even let you make some images cut off on the diagonal, or make one image larger than another. Also, this isn't insta; there's no law saying your moodboards have to be square- you could even make them the right size for a phone/computer wallpaper! Make sure to use the in-app crop feature to custom crop them so they're focused on exactly the part of the image you want them to be on. It also helps to rearrange images with a little symmetry (balancing similar colors, shapes, or patterns in opposite corners, thematic elements on opposite sides, ext.)
Next, edit each image. Yes, all of them. Yes, individually. No, don't just slap a filter on it. Trust me, this is so worth it! Here's a before and after of a moodboard's editing phase:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Find whatever "adjust" button your application uses (on inshot it just says "adjust)" and then tap the individual image. Play around with the sliders until you get the look you want for it. This is probably the most time-consuming part of the process, but trust me, it's worth it! The unique, custom filtering of each image will make a difference.
I recommend playing around with the sliders until you find the ones you feel most comfortable with. I tend to use sharpen, vignette (VERY sparingly!) hue, saturation, tint (usually just for green or purple moodboards) warmth (especially for red, orange, or blue moodboards,) contrast, and lightness.
Once you've edited all the images in your moodboard, tap "save" to download it.
Now, most people would be finished right now, but not us! One of my top secrets to making moodboards is, once you've made your moodboard, edit the whole entire thing together- again, using the adjust sliders instead of filters. Editing the whole thing at once adds this rich, uniform feel to it, making it one collage instead of a bunch of images. As an example, here's a moodboard I've made, before and after the bonus filtering:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another thing I wanna say: whether you're posting on tumblr, insta, or pinterest (or all three, as I do, because I have too much free time,) you can always add alt text! Accessibility should be the standard, and when you add alt text, blind/vision impaired people who use screenreaders can know what your moodboard's about! If you don't know what to write in the alt text box, click the "alt" button on the above images, and you can read the description I used and base it off that!
Lastly, have fun! If moodboards aren't fun for you, don't feel pressured to make them! If you get a request for one you don't want to make, you're totally cool to deny it. Have a blast, babe!

how i make scripts aesthetic on google docs (on pc) <33
Part One - Images
! Due to Tumblr's 30 image limit, I'll have to make this in parts. This one revolves around how I sort pictures to make them look aesthetic or just more organised in my script. + I'm not the best at organising tutorials sometimes but I'm trying to not make this confusing <//3
Ignore any typos and errors, thankyou. If you need me to re-explain anything, please feel free to ask. I feel like I haven't explained properly but, idk what else to do, lol :,)
Page isn't broken, to avoid messing up the way images are organised.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
— ◦◦◦
What do I use?
Other than Google Docs (obviously), — Fontspace | A background remover [my mains: 1, 2] | Pinterest/WeHeartIt/Google search, and other sources for pretty pictures, pngs, etc. 🤍🌙
Tumblr media
bundling images
Using the different text wrapping options, I found that it helped a lot more to "bundle" images together, so that things look prettier + more organised.
! example
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is pretty simple, honestly; Fontspace provides font text as pictures, transparent bg and not, — so organising the text from it will fall under the tut for this bit.
Tumblr media
^ These are the text wrapping options. The first one is the default and limits text placement/movement, the other four allow you to move text where-ever on the document (especially if print view is off) but each do different things.
In order of settings, examples (press images to see properly):
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
! tip : If you're bundling images that "overlap" too much, make sure to crop at least one (or however many needed) past its actual size so that it won't be a pain in the ass moving them later on.
- You may also use "behind text" for one of them, if it helps, so that it's easier to select the images, this also applies to using image over text (examples in each image).
what I mean:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Using these features, I'll—as per the aesthetic of my script—sort things accordingly. Get creative with the way you're doing this, and keep experimenting 'till you're able to make stuff look the way you want, lol.
"BuT DaRLIng wHaT Do I dO wItH ThIS iNFo??!?!?" bitch idk find an aesthetic 💀💀
like those 2016 fashion sticker books or smthn, idk- whatever u like-
Going into the aesthetics more ;; I usually pick diff aesthetics for each script and refuse to script until I find a pretty one LMFOAOAO- But I especially go for inspiration from (Korean?) bullet journal aesthetics which include lots of image bundling and customised tables.
Why korean ones specifically? Idk the difference, but using "Korean" as a keyword gets the stuff I'm looking for. 💀 But I also search for little pngs I want to add to my script; and if it's a false transparent png or has any background, I use my background removers to make it an actual transparent png.
And, sometimes, I like to search for colours then use my snip tool to screenshot them really thin, like those brown-beige borders you see in all my posts, then use them in my script like highlighter lines, like-
Tumblr media
That's pretty much it, really.
! examples from two of my scripts
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fontspace fonts apply as well. One thing about Fontspace is that, you can change the colour of the text ;; as well as the background.
Tumblr media
The brown colour is the text's colour, the blue one is the background's colour. You can of course choose to have no background, but it's there as an option.
Tumblr media
I don't know of any features where you can save a colour but that's maybe me being dumb ;; but what I do is set a certain colour (i.e. blue) then use the colour adjustment in google docs to change it to black, red, or whatever over colours r in the script.
i.e.:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyways I'm p close to the image limit, so that's it for this post.
I hope this makes sense bc explaining this was harder than I thought. 💀💀 Once again I can clear anything up if needed
Tumblr media
! tips
Keywords you can use for tiny decorations, are "clipart", "[aethetic name] clipart transparent png", "[aesthetic name] sticker png transparent", etc.
You can have a look at the aesthetics wiki for ideas for your script
Fotor is what I use to crop images into different shapes, and it is how I got the circle/heart shaped pictures in my documents ^-^*
...I'll add more when I remember them.
next up ··· customising tables ✿

How to submit your OC!
In this post I will walk you through submitting an original character to this blog.
Some quick things before we get started:
No fandom OCs; unless the material is a rewritten form of the source (making it your own original world). This is so we keep fandom drama to a minimum.
You are allowed to submit OCs from species groups, friends' worlds, and roleplays (unless fandom roleplays).
You can submit multiple characters, but they will be spaced out from each other.
You can send an ask to the blog to request your OC's post be edited or deleted. Be sure to provide a link to the character, and what exactly you would like edited.
Please do not use slurs for your character. We will edit any slurs out, even if you can reclaim.
Do not include bottom nudity of your character (genitals and butt). Shirtless is fine, but it will be tagged as nudity no matter the chest type. Furries do not count as long as the genitals are not exposed.
NO NSFW WRITING. NO TALKING ABOUT CHARACTERS' SEX LIVES. If your character is from an 18+ story, clarify that, but do not include NSFW in the submission itself.
Submitting characters anonymously or from blank blogs will never be allowed.
Co-owned characters are allowed, but only one person can submit said character.
Let's get started!
The basic layout will be a MAIN IMAGE and a BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE CHARACTER, and a WHERE TO READ or WHERE TO FIND: While everything else will be under a readmore. We will not keep up with these characters, so you must send an ask to this blog if anything needs to be changed.
First, choose a MAIN IMAGE for your OC. If something wasn't drawn by yourself, CREDIT THE ARTIST.
If art turns out to be uncredited we will delete the post and you will not be allowed to submit that character again. (Make sure to include one landscape image or square image as a main picture; portrait images take up too much room on the dashboard. If you do not provide one, one of the images will be cropped.) If you want a specific image as the MAIN IMAGE and you do not set up the layout for us, be sure to clarify so.
Second, type up a very brief summary of your character. Keep it very brief; three sentences at the longest!
Third (if applicable), provide links to anywhere to find this character besides this blog. This includes character tags, a Toyhouse page, a webcomic, ETC.
EVERYTHING BEYOND THIS POINT WILL BE UNDER A READMORE.
Fourth, choose 2 more images of your character. These can be put at any parts under the readmore, they do not have to be side-by-side.
Fifth, type up an extended explanation of your character. If you are having trouble simply explaining your character, you can also provide a snippet of your writing (if the writing is a comic, it will not go toward the image total, but do try to keep it short. We will adhere to the Tumblr image total rules.)
Sixth is a free-for-all! You can put whatever else you want under the readmore: Character quotes, Pinterest boards, testimonials about the character, playlists & songs, ETC!!! Ramble and have fun with talking about your character; you worked hard on xem. Screenshots and non-character pictures do not go toward the image total of 3.
If you have any questions about what you can include, feel free to send an ask. We will try to answer as helpfully as possible.
DISCLAIMER: We will edit submissions as we see fit so they are understandable and does your character the most justice possible. If you are afraid you are not following the layout don't worry too much about it! Your submission will be edited if need be. Mostly editing typos and fixing layout issues; we will not remove information about your OC unless it is NSFW or generally inappropriate. As I said before, if there is something you would like us to change about your character's post once already posted, send an ask to this blog.
Thank you for reading! I hope to see all your wonderful stories.~!

💜 💀Someone reposted my work on Pinterest, and I am NOT happy. 💀💜
So it has been brought to my attention by a dear fellow artist that someone uploaded my Lucifer piece on their Pinterest.  I wrote it on EVERY bio of EVERY social media I have : DO. NOT. REPOST. MY. ARTWORK. Anywhere. PERIOD.
The person who uploaded the artwork told me they got that image from a different source than my social media (not an excuse, btw, and again, my watermark says ‘do not repost”) but funny enough, they do not remember where. (°◡°♡) And it was in good quality meaning someone either took it for Tumblr, or Twitter in the first place.
SO.
I already explained it in great length why it is extremely damaging to repost someone else’s artwork when I reblogged this very important post from @otonymous.
But I guess it wasn’t enough. So here are a few lines and doodles, in attempt to explain why it is damaging for content creators to get our work stolen (and I very much insist on this word) and then reposted without our consent and knowledge, especially when some of us are relying on it as a direct or indirect source of income.
Shady argument #1 : “it’s free to use”
Tumblr media
This argument is often used and actually comes from a conversation I had with a (former) follower of mine on Instagram that reposted (and unfortunately, still repost) artwork found on Google and Pinterest (this is another case, and it wasn’t my own work, but sadly enough, it proves my point).
I won’t enter too much into details regarding copyright infringement laws (since every part of the globe has a different way to protect content creators: in the US you have the DMCA, in France and most european countries we have basically le “droit d’auteur” or “author’s rights”) but basically finding a content on the internet DOES NOT give you permission to reuse / repost this content elsewhere. NEVER HAD. Usually if you find artwork on Google Image or Pinterest that’s because other people stole them from social media / websites and put them on another platform.
Shady argument #2 : “the watermark”
Tumblr media
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA no. It doesn’t work like that. (plus what type of monster would remover a watermark, uh ?)
This amazing tweet from GraphicFighter explains in very simple and educational words why reposting never benefits the artist (they even gives statistics), and why it is overall very bad for illustrators, watermark or not.
Not only because watermarks can be hard to read (especially if an alphabet / symbol system you don’t know), but also because almost no one bothers to click on our social media links when they exists – that’s basic web user behaviour.
So do you really thing they’ll have a look at the watermark and bother looking for the artist ? Nah.
Shady argument #3 : “hey artist, it’s your fault”
Tumblr media
This one also comes from a conversation I had with someone who kept reposting artworks, and I quote their words :
the fact that the photos are freely available on Google means that they are open for use. If this is not the case, then the artists themselves have to limit it in some way, so this is the problem with them.
Needless to say, I nearly choked when I read this last sentence. It is 2020, aren’t we past always blaming the victims ?
In this day and age, Internet is the most efficient way for us to gain visibility and have a chance to get hired for jobs, so of course we post on the net. That doesn’t justify ANYONE reposting our content.
As of today, I have seen ONCE (and only ONCE) an artist put a Pinterest pin creator on their website (a tool that helps you create a pin from whatever content from their website). That is their PERSONAL CHOICE, and one that enables them to have control and redirect directly to their website once someone see their work on Pinterest. I can with confidence say that this is an exception that proves the rules and that shouldn’t justify reposting other’s artists content without at least their consent.
So again, we artists, in the vast majority, DO NOT choose to have our content put OUTSIDE of our social media. We cannot track it to see if it wasn’t linked to something shady, we cannot make sure people see our websites, we basically DO NOT HAVE CONTROL OF OUR CONTENT ANYMORE. If you found it on the net, it is probably because some other people TOOK IT, and put them “in the open” on the internet without a care in the world so no, it is NOT and will never be an artist’s fault.
YOU REALLY WANT TO REPOST ?
Don’t just assume every content creator is ok with reposts because a few content creators allow it with credit (and they do as they please, I am not here to judge them for that).
If you really, really wish to ASK if you can repost someone’s artwork and want to contact the artist but don’t know how, you can google their name (if the watermark hasn’t been cropped), make the effort to look for them on social media, or even use Reverse image Search on Google Image.
If we, content creators, spend hours and hours on a piece that you enjoy, the very least you can do is spend a few minutes to look for our name.
And if you don’t manage to find the source of a specific content despite your efforts ? Do. NOT. Repost it. Anyway. Is it frustrating for you ? Yes, it might. But not as frustrating and devastating as it will be for the person from who you steal their work and often, their livelihoods from.
💜 WHAT REALLY HELPS 💜
Reblog, retweet (without comments), reshare in your Instagram stories : show your favorite creators your love THE RIGHT WAY - a way for them to keep creating content and getting rewarded / paid for it.
Thank you.

Artist Resources (Part 1?)
This is basically just going to be a bunch of resources I have found to be useful. I can’t say that I’ve used all of them, but I’m sure they’re all worth checking out.
I’m also gonna try to put a detailed description for most of the links so you have a better idea of what you’re getting. I apologize in advance if some of them are redundant lol
(I put “Part 1″ if in the case I make another one)
~Links to Tutorials, Tips, Resources, etc~
Another Resource List -- Leads to another Tumblr post. Apparently, the post isn’t mobile-friendly, so it’s suggested to view this on Tumblr browser. Has a bunch of other links. I’ve checked out a few of them (mainly the copyright stuff lol), and it seems that some of the links may be a bit outdated. Still, it doesn’t hurt to check out the links.
Arms and Legs -- Leads to another Tumblr post. A handy tutorial on elbow and knee placement.
Art & Game Dev -- This leads to my personal playlist of a bunch of YouTube videos. Has a bunch of tutorials and interesting videos that I’ve collected over the course of a few years lol.
Blamblot -- A website that contains resources and tutorials on comic lettering. This is primarily in reference to western comics, but it doesn’t help to take a looksie.
Commission Calculator -- Leads to another Tumblr post. Helps artists to stop selling themselves short.
Comparing Heights (hikaku-sitatter) -- A height comparer for centimeters.
Comparing Heights -- A height comparer for feet and inches.
Mouth Shapes and Lip-Syncing -- Leads to another Tumblr post. Useful for... drawing mouth shapes.
Reference Angle -- Useful for when you’re trying to map out a face from an odd angle.
Soft Proofing for Printing -- Leads to another Tumblr post. Helps when you’re trying to make prints of your artwork.
Textures -- A website full of different and mostly free textures. While this website is made for 3D texturing, it can also be useful for 2D drawings. Signing up gives you 15 free credits everyday, and you can use those credits to download some textures for free.
The Models Resource -- A website of models ripped from a wide array of games.
The Spriters Resource -- A website of sprites ripped from a wide array of games.
The Textures Resource -- A websites of textures ripped from a wide array of games.
~Links to Stock Images~
Please check out whatever policies they may have for their images before using them!
(not sure if any of them are active anymore as I followed some of these accounts a long time ago when I used to be more active on Deviant Art lol)
adorkastock (formerly senshistock)
anatoref -- Leads to another Tumblr post. Has a bunch of hand photo references
charligal-stock
HumanAnatomy4Artist -- Does contain nudity
null-entity
PhelanDavion
RobynRose
~Links to Other Artists~
Akihito Yoshitomi -- Yoshitomi is a mangaka who has tutorials on manga making. He also has an insightful series in which he drafts and draws a 30-page manga in 18 days. Remember that every artist works differently and his process may be different from another’s.
Drawfee -- Drawfee is an improv drawing show of four artists: Nathan Yaffe, Jacob Andrews, Julia Lepetit, and Karina Farek. While they don’t have tutorials in a sense, their videos explain the different processes they go through as they draw. They also occasionally provide tips, tricks, and resources in their videos. They do have another channel and a Twitch channel where they host drawing classes in addition to other fun shenanigans.
EtheringtonBrothers -- Has a bunch of useful and eye-catching tutorials called “How to Think When You Draw”.
Mark Crilley -- Mark is a comic artist, specializing in manga, who has a bunch of tutorials about anatomy, perspective, comic making, and other things.
Miyuli -- Miyuli is an artist who posts tutorials on their Twitter. Their tutorials range from anatomy to clothing to other things. They even have a few books of art tips. Currently (as of the time of posting this), their 2018 version is free for download, so I highly recommend you download that. Some tips may be outdated, but they should still be helpful.
Whyt Manga (Twitter/YouTube) -- Odunze is a comic artist, specializing in manga, that has a bunch of tutorials on manga making and drawing characters of color.
~Links to Free Programs~
Blender -- A free 3D program if you’re into 3D modeling and such. I also personally haven’t used Blender (I use Maya lol), but I know it’s a respectable program.
Krita -- A free painting program if you can’t afford Photoshop or Clip Studio Paint. I personally haven’t used Krita, but I have recommended it to a few friends and they have positive reviews about it.
Paint Tool SAI -- Okay, this one isn’t free, but it’s a significantly cheaper painting program where you don’t have to pay a subscription. It’s 5,500JPY (~50 USD). I’m not sure how well it still works on modern computers (the last update was 2016), but I still use it here and there because I love the pen tool feature it has, and it still works like a charm for me.
~General Tips From Raine~
Raine admits that she’s guilty of not following her own advice, but Raine hopes that the tips that she does know will be beneficial to someone who will follow them. She’s also going to keep all her tips under the cut so as to not make this post a huge wall of text (even though it technically already is lol)
Also, if you have some resources, tutorials, tips yourself, please feel free to send them to me and maybe I’ll make a part 2 to this post!
ALWAYS LOOK FOR REFERENCE. This should really go without saying. You can’t draw from life if you refuse to observe life itself.
If you can’t find the exact thing you need, MAKE YOUR OWN REFERENCE. Time and time again, I can’t find something exactly that I need. So instead, what I do is that I take pictures of my own reference. Sometimes I even grab a friend and take pictures of them doing whatever it is I need.
Have a mirror handy when you’re drawing. Sometimes what you need is actually right there in front of you.
Having trouble drawing something? Do some studies. Take the time to understand what it is you’re drawing. I can’t remember the exact story, but I heard that the people who were working on Tarzan were having a hard time drawing his hands. So, what they did was spend a few hours looking at hands to try and understand how they work.
IT’S OKAY TO STUDY THE ART OF OTHER ARTISTS. Just as we look to the old masters as a reference, it’s definitely okay to look at modern-day artists for reference. Just don’t go copying exactly everything that they do, or worse, trace what they do. Just don’t do it... at all.
Not every line needs to be realized. The viewer of your work will automatically connect the dots.
DO NOT TRASH YOUR OLD DRAWINGS. Please, never ever do this. Your old drawings have value to them, even if they look terrible to you. Old drawings may hold ideas for things you could do for the future. They also serve as a way to see how far you’ve come as an artist.
GETTING BETTER AT DRAWING TAKES TIME AND EFFORT. You’re not gonna get better overnight. It’ll take months, or even years, to feel like you’re a competent artist, and even then, you’ll still have room for improvement.
DON’T LOOK DOWN ON YOURSELF IF YOU’RE TAKING A LONG TIME TO GET BETTER. It’ll be better for your mental health in the long run.
Alternatively, DON'T LOOK DOWN ON OTHER ARTISTS EITHER, ESPECIALLY TO MAKE YOURSELF FEEL BETTER. You know the struggles it took for you to get where you are, so don’t go putting down other people when you’ve been in their shoes once.
KEEP DRAWING. If you’re not making an effort to get better, then you’re not going to be better. I get that it’s hard to find the inspiration to draw (I’m very guilty of this), but just keep trying. It doesn’t have to be big or spectacular. You don’t even have to post it if you’re the type who likes to post their art stuff.
Try to find references from real-life. It’ll help you better understand form, lighting, shadows, etc., especially if you’re going for a more realistic kind of art style. Otherwise, finding reference from things like cartoons, anime, comics, etc. are just as good.
Try new things. Try new art mediums. Try a different art style. Switch up the way you do things. Maybe you’ll hate it, maybe you’ll like it. Who knows if you don’t try.
Watch time-lapses (or speed draws/speed paints) of other artists!
Pinterest and Google are your friends if you need tutorials or references or whatever.
If you’re offering commissions, DO NOT WORK UNDER YOUR LOCAL MINIMUM WAGE. You are literally devaluing the work you actually put into a piece.
I like to think I’m an aficionado of Photoshop, so feel free to ask me questions on how to achieve something! I’ve used Photoshop for about 11 years now and know my way around the program. On another note, I do recommend setting custom keyboard shortcuts in Photoshop because the default shortcuts are terrible (in my opinion), and because having custom shortcuts increases the speed of your workflow.
Because I’ve been seeing this a lot lately in Twitter, you’re never too old to start in art. Art is just one of those things that anyone can pick up at any age because the only thing you really need to get good in art is time, diligence, and patience.
Try not to post hi-res images of your artwork to prevent art stealers from selling your artwork in high resolution.
Always, always, always add your signature and watermark on your artwork. I like to add my signatures and watermarks in places that’ll be hard to erase or crop out. I’ve also seen people add their signatures and watermarks in creative ways (ex. on a character’s shirt). You need to protect your work in an era where people will just blatantly steal it and make profit off your work.

🕷️UH TO THE ANON asking about how we make stimboards!! For some reason when I tried to save the bloody draft it. it's sure somewhere but I can't find it so! I'll answer under the cut! We also use mobile so this might be different on pc, but this is just how we do it. Also ps I'm tired so this might be really good or p bad to explain
So, to start off we use Tumblr to find our stims if we don't make them! It's really rude to use places like Pinterest or Google to find them, because it usually doesn't link back to the original person who made the gif (and gif makers work to make those)! Just search "(type of stim you want) stim" (for example, red stim).
Once you find a gif you like, you can save the post (either by liking it or putting the link somewhere where you can find it again later). Redo this 8-9 times (depending on if you use a faceclaim or not), and then organize them in a Tumblr draft!
You wanna line them up in a 3x3 square. Tall gifs are fine if next to square gifs, but they'll be cropped to be square automatically when viewed on Tumblr. Wider gifs you'll need to crop yourself, because it messes up how Tumblr shows the gifs (squishes em).
Then, you want to get 9 emojis or symbols or anything, and put something between them! That can be a space, period, whatever. There needs to be a space that way when you add links to them, they won't merge and mess up the links. It should look something like this:
❤️.🧡.💛.💚.💙.💜.🤎.🖤.🤍
You can organize these into 3 lines if you want, or 1 line like above, or really whatever you want as long as it's clear which emoji lines up to which gif.
Next, you wanna grab the links to the gifs! Our clipboard holds 5 links at once, so we just look over them and memorize the order of the stims and then match them to the emojis. You could do this one by one or three by three or any other way though! So for example:
(gif 1, the one we want linked) 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9
❤️(<linked to where we found gif 1).🧡.💛
💚.💙.💜
🤎.🖤.🤍
On mobile, you highlight the text you want to link (in this case the heart- EXCLUDING the period separating the links) and click the button on the far right that looks like a chain link, then paste the link there. Do that for all of the emojis/gifs until they're all properly credited!
Once that's done, add whatever text to the post and add tags! Remember to add tw tags before you add publicity tags, and don't cross-tag.
Some general things to tag would be basic tws you can think of + fandom (if used for faceclaim/in a gif) + sorting tags of applicable and THEN publicity. This ensures that you don't hit the limit of tags while adding things for blacklists.
If you make your own gifs (as in record and upload and all that) for the stimboard, you can either a) link the post that you uploaded that on, if you did, or b) add an X or something to show you made it.
If you make your own gifs from other people's footage, you should link back to where you got the footage to begin with.
We use ezgif.com to recolor, crop, and make gifs, as well as optimize them since Tumblr has a limit for how large uploaded images can be.
Uhhh I think that's all!!! I hope that helped somewhat :)
Remember: always properly credit where you got gifs/footage/faceclaims, never cross-tag, and always add tws when applicable!

omg i love love your work !!! also if u don't mind, i'd like to ask how you coded the horizontal line dividers on your posts? ive been wanting to start a blog of my own for so long but i just don't know how to make the line thing work :(( thank u bluejaem-nim ~~
aaaah tysm :(( if you’re talking about those dividers that i use for the timestamps— then i don’t really know how others do it cuz my way’s a little lengthy. but nonetheless,, i’ll try my best to help you out <3
𝐁𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐂𝐒
so the apps that i usually use for this are canva and picsart (i prefer canva tbh cuz it’s easier ig idk lmao). and of course, everybody’s favorite *drumroll* p i n t e r e s t. i use pinterest for downloading the pics that i’m going to use [ usually two pics of the idol and one pic that matches the color scheme, but lmao you can do it in whichever way you find best! ]
𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐂𝐀𝐍𝐕𝐀
i don’t know if you’re a canva user so sjdjsk i’m just going to start from the basics ( btw, the one i’m going to use here is the canva app on the phone, but the desktop one is easier tbh )
Tumblr media
step 1 :: open canva and click on the ‘+’ sign. then search for ‘twitter header’ in the search panel.
step 2 :: once that opens, you can click on the upload option which is at the bottom, then click on the purple color tab which reads ‘upload media’ and after that you can choose the pic that you’re using for that particular post on tumblr
Tumblr media
step 3 :: there would be a colourful icon at the bottom, you can click on that and then click on the other colourful button with the + sign on it.
step 4 :: you would see a color picker next to the hex code, click on it, and hover it on top of the picture. and there you go, coLOURFUL HEADER LMAOSJHJDF
or
Tumblr media
alternative step 4 :: when you click on that colourful button, you can scroll down to find the photo colours section and then choose from there! [ i don’t usually use this option because it isn’t always that close to the colour scheme of the picture, but it still works! ]
step 5 :: you can delete the picture and then save the header
Tumblr media Tumblr media
step 6 :: open your gallery app and crop the picture! i don’t directly crop the header horizontally ‘cause it becomes too thin then. and so, i start vertically, rotate that, and then crop it!
𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐏𝐈𝐂𝐒𝐀𝐑𝐓
again, i didn’t know which app you use so i decided to make a brief one for picsart as well <3
Tumblr media
step 1 :: open PicsArt, and click on the ‘+’ sign.
step 2 :: select ‘backgrounds’
step 3 :: on top, you’re going to see available background colours. you can either choose white or the empty png. format, it doesn’t really matter tbh.
Tumblr media
step 4 :: click on the ‘add image’ button, and select a desired image.
step 5 :: then choose the ‘fit’ option > ratio > and then click on the ‘twitter header’ button.
Tumblr media
step 6 :: right next to the ‘ration’ button, you’ll find the ‘color’ option. click on that.
step 7 :: like the one on canva, you can choose the eye-dropper-like icon and then hover that ‘+’ sign on top of the picture.
Tumblr media
step 8 :: save the picture!
step 9 :: open your gallery app and crop the image! [ you can use the steps i had mentioned for the canva one above^^ ]
hope this helped lmaooo i’m sure there are easier ways to do this but this is how i used to do it <3
tip :: rather than wasting your time making these colourful dividers— you can just make one black divider and use it everywhere. that’s way easier. but then again, it doesn’t look as nice as the post with the colourful dividers sksks.

I need some kind of a photoshop lesson for this aesthetic of yours
okay i’m gonna do a tutorial real time for a picspam type aesthetic that will look like this ⇣ a photo i will put here once i make it.
Tumblr media
step one. open ps : )
Tumblr media
welcome : )
okay so dimensions r a thing tumblr compresses photos like hella so i do all my still img aesthetics 900x900 is you’re trying to do this for say insta i would actually recommend jumping up to 1080x1080. pixels, obviously. idk if i have to clarify that.
so click ctrl+n or create new i’ll be doing 900x900
Tumblr media
these r the rest of my settings i personally do not think they matter my resolution stays at 72 the only thing i’ve detected this affecting is font size. (side note notice how this pic looks all fuzzy? that’s bc it’s a ss with a boatload of pixels. and if there’s one thing tumblr hates. it’s pixels. and then it’s users. but who’s counting? tumblr is. i recommend keeping ur still images 900x900♥)
step two is collecting ur images i personally use pinterest for these bc quite frankly it’s really nice & easy to find these types of photos esp if you’re looking for a canon character bc if you type in [character name] aesthetic you’ll get stuff if you don’t quite frankly even just type in aesthetic you can scroll until you find an image you like click on that and go through like images underneath it and keep burning thru. like u probably know how to work pinterest. but i am being thorough and covering my bases. searching [color] aesthetic is also nice or even searching a character that isn’t the character you’re doing this for but who’s kind of similar that also works. i recommend esp for charmed bc their pinterest gets bogged down with screencaps and then like. charms like jewelry searching “charmed aesthetic” or “phoebe halliwell aesthetic” really just doesn’t cut it so what i’d recommend is instead of going through pins, go through boards.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
bc like. big difference. other pro tips if you see a board you like, go to the person’s profile and check out their other boards bc odds are you’ll find more you like. another protip if you’re specifically doing ocs typing in oc aesthetic will get you a lot even going to the boards on that as well. yields.
so. you’ve gathered ur images. u need five. open em. i’m making an aesthetic 4 myself which you’ve probably already guessed from the fact i’m putting the finished piece at the top, but it’s not ready yet so it’s still a surprise for me.
cropping. if ur doing a 900x900, use these setting exactly. 1080x1080 use 1080/2 x 1080/3. i’m not doing the math 4 u ♥
Tumblr media
most important part? Delete Cropped Pixels. otherwise ur not really doing anything. crop all five images.
Tumblr media
but them in ur document. document? psd? ur thing ♥ place them places. u do not have to commit now. leave one middle one blank. it does not matter which one. i personally like to alternate my text pieces if i’m doing a long post like what i did on my ncwotng set. some people keep them all on the same side. this lowkey bugs me i feel like it throws off the Balance but i imagine some people like The Consistency. i don’t. but w/e. it’s up to u as this is gonna be ur set. also like. as you’ve cropped these to x/2,x/3 settings they should fit nice like puzzle pieces : )
Tumblr media
the next step i personally like doing is creating by text box with The Color™ do this bc simply duplicating one of ur images, shoving it in the empty slot, and converting into a sharp object. edit contents.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
now. obvi i selected these images w a color scheme in mid. i recommend u do the same. even if it’s just vague. they don’t all have 2 fit. this is my example of my sheridan piece b4 or after. tweaking is possible. layers w masks r ur friend. i can talk about them more if need be.
Tumblr media
But. back 2 the smart object. brush tool. paint it.
Tumblr media
the text i used was times new roman all caps 40pt font 0 spacing for the title and times new roman 14pt font 0 spacing italics for the subheading. here’s my dency b4 and after for comparison
Tumblr media
next step is after you have your text in alright, shove everything into groups. mode on “normal”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
then you can start editing. the groups let you edit things like lighting and color without touching any of the layers below it 👍
i’m not gonna do a Major coloring tutorial, for lighting i’ll usually tinker with exposure, levels, sometimes brightness/contrast. for colors, color balance + hue/saturation. i rarely touch anything else.
i’ll bring u along 4 the coloring of this one bc i’m gonna add a layer mask.
Tumblr media
so the first thing i’m going to do bc the paper itself is already close to the vibe is i’m going to color it normal and just ignore the background
Tumblr media
something like that. then i’m going to add a layer mask (square button w the plus sign)
Tumblr media
and then i’m going to eye dropper a color off from somewhere else
Tumblr media
now i was talking about the “normal” blend mode stops ur color settings from bleeding over onto other images? does not apply to painting on layers but you’re already masking this bad boy, so it doesn’t matter. just don’t say i didn’t warn u
Tumblr media
i’d recommend using a really ridiculous blend mode to clean up ur thing at first, i’m using darken which isn’t that wild but like whatevs.
Tumblr media
add a layer mask using this button.
Tumblr media
select and mask
Tumblr media
use this thing to clean up ur mask
Tumblr media
okay so i did a lot since we last spoke
Tumblr media
but if i impart any lesson to u. it’s: fuck around. find out. that’s literally how i’ve basically done everything. nothing’s ever really gone horribly wrong. click things. see what happens.
Tumblr media
okay so now that you’ve kinda gotten everything figured out. change ur text box color again. i’m introducing u to ye ol trick that is not the paint brush. but. hue/saturation on colorize more yeah babyyyyy
Tumblr media
ahaha yes. love this bad boy.
Now. Trick To Make Everything Super Cohesive™. put things above All of your groups.
Tumblr media
yeah boy.
reorganize ur thing bc u don’t like how it looks.
fuck around w a lot of stuff.
Tumblr media
it’s still cluttered.
fuck it. grab a new image.
Tumblr media
something like that. never let the fear of striking out keep u from playing the game : )
fuck around a bit more.
Tumblr media
vibes♥
save ur image bc u literally Have Not Done That Yet
Tumblr media
& then remember the other thing u forgot to do
eyedropper what ur text box looks like move the whole thing to the tippity top and recolor
Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is just bc u’ve fuck around a lot w a lot f different settings. this ensures that the text stays the same color u set it as.
okay final step.
turn The Whole Thing into a smart object, smart sharpen
leave out the text box tho. the sharpened text can look weird. it’s ur choice, but with these settings,, cronch.
Tumblr media
and wallah. ctrl+shift+s save as png and bada bing bada boom baby. aesthetic

Ever since deviantart pushed the new site layout, I’ve had zero comments or meaningful interactions on any of my pieces, despite uploading what I thought were some strong pieces lately. This isn’t complaining to my followers on either site, this is complaining about the layout and the functionality of it. It’s kind of a blow to artists because feedback is perhaps one of the best things you can get when you create. But by redesigning the Watch Feed (your curated list of artists, the same thing as the dashboard here on tumblr) so that commenting is not prompted, you basically strip what was once a community driven site into basic image consumption-- like Pinterest, basically, especially because you don’t share things on deviantart, you just favorite them.
Where we used to have the usual social media strip of content -- again, like the dashboard here, or the twitter feed, or whatever you call it on instagram, where you have the exact posts from people you follow and nothing more, in a nice straight line that you scroll through, we now have this, like, gallery of images, and it’s so clunky and cluttered and crops so poorly.
Tumblr media
I guess what you’re supposed to do is click on the first image and then use the arrows on the screen to swipe through your feed like a powerpoint or something? I don’t know. It’s just really, really clunky and has resulted in less input from the people whom I value it from. I’ve already submitted a Feedback report to deviantart about re-implementing the original Watch Feed, but... idk, it’s basically fixing what didn’t need to be fixed.

my reasons to lose weight
One thing i did when I decided to start losing weight was to write down one reason to lose for every pound of my goal weight. I want to be 137 lbs? I wrote 137 reasons to lose the weight to get there.
I want to preface this by saying that these reasons are just my personal reasons for wanting to lose weight, and they have no bearing on and hold no judgement  for anyone else who might read the list. I do not judge anyone for where they are at in their life physically. We are all on our own path. That may sound really patronizing and flighty but it’s true. That being said, for those who suffer with negative body image, some of these reasons might be triggering for that, so please read on with that in mind.
I don’t even know why I’m posting all of these in a place where other people can see them rather than just keeping them to myself, but I know that the actual process of writing a reason for every pound of my goal weight is something that I found greatly encouraging, so maybe it’ll help someone else?
So without further ado, my reasons to lose weight will be beneath the cut, just because to have them just typed out would make this a very long post.
To stop hating how I look
To be able to look at my reflection in a full-length mirror without launching into a depressive episode
To be able to look at my own image during a video call without wanting to turn off my camera and hide

To get to the point where eating healthy and drinking a gallon of water a day isn’t something I have to remind myself to do, it’s just second nature
To get to a point where I love myself, my whole self, rather than just hating the body I feel like I’m stuck in.
To get to the point where i love exercise and look forward to doing it multiple times a week
To eat intuitively and for enjoyment instead of eating recklessly and unhealthily
To know that I am what i have worked hard to become
To not feel so terrified about changing clothes when others are around
To have slimmer, toned legs

To not turn out like a lot of my family
To look more like the girl I used to be when I was a kid and to do her right/do her proud
To see more of the actual shape of my face (do I have good cheekbones? do I have a jawline that could cut a man?)
To be confident enough to go and do my running outside rather than feeling too awkward like people are going to stare and then just using a treadmill.
To get to the point where I know enough about nutrition and my body to be able to listen to it and give it what it needs, not just what I think I want
To get rid of some of the emotional and mental blocks that my physicality has built up for me which prevent me from doing the things I want to do and being the person that I want to be
To have a healthy relationship with food, with exercise, with myself, and with my mental image of myself.
To change the way I think about and talk about myself, to be less self deprecating and more proud
To be able to look at my own body and pictures of myself and find myself sexy and attractive
To be able to buy clothes in stores and not worry that they won’t fit when I get home and try them on
To get rid of the back rolls and actually see some definition in my shoulder blades
To see the look on old friends’ faces (and maybe even more so on those who weren’t friends) when they see how much I’ve changed
To prove people wrong
To prove myself wrong
To be the me that I pretend to be in my fantasies and daydreams
To be more myself, fully and completely, uninhibited and unrestrained

Fashion design for your OCs
Doing a different post from normal, but something that gets commented on a lot with my artwork is my fashion design. Often this comes along with the statement “I wish I could design clothes like that”. Heck, I’ve even got a commission on my plate which is JUST to design an outfit, because the commissioner feels like they don’t know enough about fashion! So I wanted to talk about fashion and how to go about designing clothing for an original character.
The first thing I’ll say is that if you want to draw fashion, you have to study fashion. It’s just like anatomy - yes, you have a body, but unless you take the time to study how the body moves and fits together, you will never draw truly accurate bodies. Same with fashion - even though you wear clothing, unless you take the time to study how clothing is designed, put together, and the trends it follows, you will never truly feel comfortable designing fashion for your OCs.
The non-fashion artists with the best fashion designs are the ones that take their cues from real world fashion. Naoko Takeuchi, the creator of Sailor Moon, is a prime example. When you look at the fashions used in both the manga and the show, they feel like clothing that people would actually wear, and they reflect the characters’ personalities (this post goes into more detail on that aspect).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That’s because she drew her inspiration from real fashion of the 1990s - which is why a lot of the outfits can seem a little dated now (though still very cute!).
Tumblr media
Comic artist Kevin Wada is known for his illustrations of superheroes in casual fashion. His designs are always sharp and on-point, and, again, it’s because he pulls from real-life designs. You can read the thought process behind the above image here.
Even Hirohiko Araki, the creator of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, which is known for it’s cuckoo-bananas fashion designs, pulled inspiration from high fashion illustrations and photos of the 1980s.
Tumblr media
You can especially see the influence in Giorno and Bruno of Part 5, whose outfits would look right at home on a 1980s Italian fashion runway, such as Versace, Moschino, or Gucci.
Tumblr media
(Versace 1991 RTW collection)
Hell, Araki’s signature weird poses are even taken from high fashion photo shoots, and there was a legit fashion show inspired by his artwork, which you can read more about here.
Tumblr media
My point in all of this is that you have GOT to look at real-life fashion in order to draw fictional fashion. The things we wear has meaning, it follows social, political, religious trends. It builds off what has come before and strives to find something new.
So, where do you go to learn about fashion?
A great place to start is by looking at sewing patterns from various eras. Before the 1980s, a lot of housewives opted to make their own clothing rather than buying it, and so there was a huge industry of sewing patterns made available for purchase. These patterns followed the trends at the time, and cover both adult and children’s fashion. Many of them were designed by famous fashion designers.
Tumblr media
The Vintage Pattern Wikia has an archive of lots of vintage patterns that you can look through if you’re designing a character in a particular era. Many of them are every-day looks, which may help you with inspiration for casual apparel.
Another option is to just draw your characters in existing fashion designs that you just think are cool. I think some people consider this ‘cheating’ or ‘stealing’, because the online art community has a weird relationship to references, which is unfortunate. But if it’s good enough for Sailor Moon, it’s good enough for you!
Tumblr media
(Source, with more examples)
Copying existing designs will help you get a feel for fashion, especially what goes with what, though of course if you copy an outfit exactly, be sure to credit the original designer!
Once you get the hang of drawing from references, you can then start to put together your own outfits using references. I highly recommend getting a Pinterest, doing a search for a fashion trend you’re interested in (or hell, even just ‘fashion’ or ‘costume design’) and building up your own catalogue of outfits that you like. Then, you can put different pieces together, make changes, and generally build your own outfits.
Here’s an example of a part of my fashion reference board:
Tumblr media
And an example of an outfit that I referenced and modified:
Tumblr media
(Cropped for gore, the full drawing is here of you want to see it)
And lastly, the thing that has honestly helped me the most in my fashion design... Project Runway.
Tumblr media
I am dead serious, Project Runway has helped me more than any other resource when it comes to learning about fashion design. The designers on the show don’t hold your hand and explain everything they’re doing, but as you watch you’ll begin to pick up on the terms they use, the inspiration they reference, and their techniques. It’s also about creating something new in the world of fashion, so it’s a good resource for seeing how other people come up with new, fresh designs. They also frequently talk about the “woman they’re designing for” which can help you to understand what designs are considered more junior vs matronly, streetwear vs gala, etc.
Anyways, this was a long post, thank you for reading the whole thing! I hope it was helpful. If you have any questions about coming up with fashion design for more specific applications, like, say, how tie worldbuilding into fashion, feel free to send me an ask and I’ll do my best to answer!

Novel Prep Tag Game: Deity Complex
My main was tagged by @captainrynna!!! I’m a couple days late, but thank you!!! I’m doing it over my secondary WIP, because I already had a drawing of the protag prepared and I wasn’t emotionally ready to commit to a design for Ember from Firebreathers. Because that’s how my brain chooses to do things ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Putting a quick read more link because:
TW: death/car crash for questions 1 and 11. I’ll tag the post for it, as well.
First Look:
1. Describe your novel in 1-2 sentences. There’s too much fucking corn in America.
More seriously, though: 19-year-old bus crash survivor tries to keep as far away as possible from the government that wants to use their mutation to commit war crimes. They do so by hitch hiking, stealing cars, and navigating the endless highways of the USA.
2. How long do you plan for your novel to be? Probably just one book, around 100k words. It’s not the most thought-out of ideas yet.
3. What’s your novel’s aesthetic? I made a board for it on my pinterest, but there’s like. 4 pins. It’s hard to pin down (no pun intended), and the images on question 5 are also relevant to it, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
4. What other stories have inspired your novel? This will sound weird, considering the lack of context for this WIP, but Captain America: Civil War comes to mind, as well as the Percy Jackson series.
5. 3 images that get the feel of your novel.

(this one didn’t have a credit link, but it’s also from Pexels)
Main Characters:
6. Who is your protagonist? Hunter Carrol, a 19-year-old ‘’’convict’’’ running from government research facilities whose experiments on them may or may not have eventually resulted in the deadliest weapon of war to date, if they had stayed.
7. Who is their closest ally? Viola Waters, once Hunter starts opening up to her.
8. Who is their enemy? Agent Markus Rutherford of the Federal Bureau of Switched Activity. He’s the agent who first brought Hunter to the FBSA research facilities, and he’s been on their tail since they escaped.
9. What do they want more than anything? They just want to see their parents, man. It’s been like, nine months, and shit’s been pretty traumatic. Mom’s cookies would be a real pick-me-up, y’know?
10. Why can’t they have it? The government has deemed Hunter too much of a danger to the public/asset to their research to let them go easily. So they’ve been endlessly following the signs of where Hunter has been to get them back.
11. What do they wrongly believe about themselves? That they’re the sole reason 20 of their classmates died in a bus crash. I know, it’s dark.
12. Draw your character. I did this a while ago, and it’s actually also on my youtube channel, with a bit of a haphazard intro to them! The info in that vid is a little outdated, though. This is a zoomed in screenshot, cause I did it on a too-big canvas and never cropped it LOL:
Tumblr media
13. What is the worst thing that could happen to your protag? Being brought back to the research labs again, with an even lower chance of being able to get out and see their parents.
Plot Points:
14. What secret will be revealed that changes the course of the story? Hunter will find out that they weren’t the only kid with a Deity Complex being detained in the FBSA research labs, and they’ll immediately want to get the others out, too.
15. Do you know how it ends? Not yet LOL, the story is barely developed further than two (2) plot points so far.
16. What is the theme? I know I want to explore the ideas of bodily autonomy/consent (if one can save thousands of others by sacrificing themselves, is it ethical to force them to?) and whether there’s ever a good reason to go to war.
17. What is a recurring symbol? I don’t really have a symbol in mind, right now... unless the smell of campfires and the appearance of white animals counts as, like, a symbolic representation of the two main characters.
18. Where is the story set? Mainly on the highways and backroads of the U.S., but general region depends on when in the story.
19. Do you have images and scenes in mind already? A couple, but nothing too specific, yet. I’m only like, 4.5k into writing it, and it’s the first time I’ve actually tried to pin down the idea. So I’m excited to see where it goes!
20. What excited you about this story? Being able to explore the Switched Universe, and also confronting themes that are integral to my view on activism!
21. What is your usual writing method? For this story, I only really write in it when I’m a.) stuck in Firebreathers, and b.) motivated to work on the next scene. So I don’t have a great method for this one yet, as it’s technically a side project.
Tagging: @lemon-writings, @keen2meecha, and anyone else who wants to! also sorry if either of you have done it already, i cant remember seeing it on my dash and im too tired to search blogs rn

Hello, there!
I just wanted to let you know that reposting gifs/graphics/pictures that other people have worked really hard on IS stealing! Even saying "credit to" etc doesn't count and is not okay. Tumblr has a built in search gif function that PROPERLY links back to credit the rightful owners and let them know someone liked something of theirs so much and used it for something like a fic! Plus, caratblr is extremely friendly and I'm sure if you asked, they would be happy to assist, help, and/or make banners/headers for you. What you're doing is exactly if people would copy and paste your story and claim it's theirs. Wouldn't be very nice, would it? :(
I'm hoping you meant no harm, as fellow content creators, we should always give proper credit where it's due and look out for one another :) I'm sure you don't want your awesome stories tarnished by the fact that you are reposting other's works as your headers and banners!
Thank you for bringing this to my attention and I know well that I should be giving credit to the rightful owners of the gif as the majority of the gifs I use are not made by me. I did have a plan to go back and reverse image search all of the gifs and find the rightful owners (I do have some links of the original creators of some of the gifs I use - such as tistory blogs) but I have not had the time to do so yet and I already have more than 300 posts containing uncredited gifs or pictures. I used to use the Tumblr gif function but there was not enough variety & gifs that I wanted in what I could find, so I branched out onto different platforms like Pinterest, NAVER, and different search engines for specific gifs that I liked and wanted as a banner for my fic. I am grateful for you to educate me and I will make sure to credit from now on where I found the gifs/pictures, but I'm afraid that a lot of times I won't be able to find the 'original' creator (since people also repost other people's things and spread it).
Again, I am thankful and I'm always grateful to recieve a lesson and learn from my mistakes. I am also genuinely sorry for overlooking it as stealing because I did recognize the problem a long time ago but I did not fix it and thought that not claiming the stuff as mine or erasing watermarks would be enough, continuing to overlook it as a problem. Since I saw many people all over Tumblr, Wattpad, and in social media overall using pictures that weren't made by them, I guess a part of me thought it was okay too. I also thought it would be too much of a hassle to ask every creator of a gif if I could use their gif since a lot of them had been no longer active. My mindset then was also immature and just "oh, it's not actually theirs because they just cropped & cut a video from seventeen so it's technically seventeen's" which was a super bad mindset that I forgot about but once had (Edit: I also thought nobody would care and I'd get away with it like everybody else and that it was okay and wasn't a big deal - so in the end, not crediting had become a part of my posts and I forgot about crediting. I also thought that gifs and fics were two different things but I don't want to come across the day I'm in that position where my work is used and my name is not properly credited).
Of course, I'm just a teen in the end and I'm glad I've had the chance to learn that those kinds of thoughts are NOT okay. As a content creator too, I understand where you're coming from and I will make sure to fix & recognize my mistakes and prevent it from happening again. Though i am sure I won't be capable of crediting everyone, I will try my best when time is in my hands.

Then I reply to feedback, and examine my DMs and e-mail. Maintaining with that is getting more durable.
