hi!! im working on a story that takes place at a 2012 public high school - the issue with that is that i was not in high school in 2012 lmao. do you have any tips on how to keep it feeling realistic?

Well, neither was I!! But here are some tips:

Define Your General Setting

Sure, high school has a different feel compared to an average town/city setting. However, it is still a part of the bigger community, and will be impacted by external factors.

What part of the world are your writing about? What's the general economy like? What's the most common occupation of the kid's parents? What's the prevailing fashion/art/music style?

Your teens will be impacted by the popular culture and trends of the time, so start by outlining the general setting!

Fashion

I think this is where schools have changed the most. There are going to be some overlaps between early 2010s and late 2000s, so if you think in the direction of Y2K fashion, it should fit.

On a general note, I think 2010s fashion was vibrant, with lots of colors and flashy items...

Side fringes and backcombed/straightened hair were still very popular

most girls had huge messy sock buns on top of their heads

boys had the Justin Bieber cut.

Jack Wills and Hollister were pretty popular, and a lot of girls had a Paul's Boutique jacket and a Jane Norman bag for their PE kit (or one of the Hollister bags with a topless guy on).

Converse were universally cool, and there were lots of imitation brands.

Open flannel shirt over a t-shirt was a pretty popular outfit.

Skinny jeans and band t-shirts

bright chunky rubber band bracelets.

Vans were cool among the alternative kids.

Getting different colours on your braces was cool.

Most of the boys had at least one of those t-shirts with the buttons and the mismatched cuffs.

School-uniform-wise, short ties with big fat knots were cool, and hard kids would pluck a stripe or two out of their tie.

Tucking in shirts was initially not cool, then it became cool to tuck at the front but not the back.

Lots of boys wore black trainers, and lots of girls wore those ballet pumps.

Girls doing their lips with their foundation, with a thick ring of black eyeliner and spidery clumpy mascara - and having a visible orange line where your foundation met your neck was common.

Multiple ear piercings were popular with the alternative crowd

Belly button piercings were big for girls

Just search up some pictures on Google, you should get plenty of "Early 2010s teen fashion starter pack"

Social Media

Smartphones were already popular, and with the introduction of Snapchat(2011) and Instagram(2010), the social media hype was just starting to boom

Facebook and Twitter were popular - basically everyone was on it

TikTok(2016) and Discord(2015) didn't exist yet

Pictochat

Phones were allowed in the classroom, but phones/laptops weren't an important part of school work like it is now.

Digital Devices

Phones-wise, most people had pretty basic dumbphones (although they were just called mobiles back then), and not everyone carried them all the time

Blackberry (BBM), Nokia, LG Cholate, iPhone if you're rich enough

Most kids were on PAYG phones, so you'd run out of credit sometimes (i.e. no more calls or texts) and have to go to a physical shop to top up. Nobody really had data, and there was always a moment of panic if you accidentally opened the web browser on your phone because it was so expensive. Wifi became a thing around 2012.

Nintendo DSes: Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Nintendogs

iPods or another MP3 Player

Slag

Slang-wise, Urban Dictionary is a good resource.

Fleek, peng and YOLO were popular with some crowds. Leetspeak was a thing online, especially in nerdy communities. Emoji were starting to take off

Music

Before you start doing any of the things above, remember this if you're writing a YA novel: The key of this genre is to feel somewhat timless, taking readers back to their high school years no matter when and where they've gone through it.

High school is the phase where many people feel awkward, unsure of themselves, feeling special in their own head but knowing that they're not really.

writers note: ; idk something about the skz boys wearing fake piercings and real piercings truly just has its grip on me. it’s not even fair. so, i decided to write about what piercing each member would get and a little bit of ideas about it please enjoy feedback is always appreciated

oh and this is excluding all of their original piercings, i know almost all of them have some variants and numbers of ear piercings, im talking about other types of piercings.

the piercing bang chan would be most likely to get would be a bridge piercing! i am so sure of this, honestly any nose piercing would look beautiful on him but frankly a bridge piercing would suit him the best.

i think falling in line similarly with a fake piercing he’s worn before, he’d get spider bites on his right lip. the rest of his features are too soft to be broken up by some other facial piercing i feel like.

it took you longer than you cared to admit to notice. at first, you thought it was just for a music video they’d recorded. but then you noticed… minho hadn’t taken them off. you thought maybe it was for a new press style, but then.. the color changed. from silver to black. finally, while sitting on the sofa beside him you’d pipe up, “minho.. are.. those real..? did you really pierce yourself this time?”

“yeah? why not? does it look bad?” minho teased with a smirk, the smirk tugging the black rings along oh so slightly. fuck.

“you and i both know you look great, lino,” you’d say, trying to blow off the intense blush that had begun to bloom across your cheeks.

minho leaned in closer to you, ever the cocky blunt sexy individual that he was, his arm resting casually across the back of the couch. you hadn’t gotten to give minho a whole lot of love recently due to the band’s press business and whatnot, so you hadn’t yet had the chance to kiss him and notice the reality of his piercings.

“oh doll, you know i look great…” he said with a lowered, deeper voice.

almost as if he was reading your mind, he closed the gap between the two of you. cold metal tickled the edge of your lip as he did so, it seems almost somehow that this piercing made him even more bold than before.

you could get used to this.

honestly changbin seems like a wildcard here but i think frankly an eyebrow piercing on his left eyebrow would suit his style the best. it’s truly a tie between this and an industrial. it depends on his mood when he was getting it honestly, as our dear binne seems to only have modes: cutie baby, and rough & dark. for the purposes of this imagine, we’ll go with the eyebrow piercing.

you were the first to know about changbin’s lovely little impulsive choice. why was that? why my dear y/n, this man dragged your poor ass to the appointment with him. he claimed over and over that he just needed moral support, but really it was just because sometimes it was so hard to get time with just you when he was so busy and he liked to take any chance he could.

he had the funniest response to the piercing too, as he kept an entirely stone face but tears streamed down his face.

at the end, he’d claimed it didn’t hurt even one bit. you knew he was probably just playing it up but you didn’t. changbin always made you laugh, you loved that about him.

“so, what do you think?” he asked you as he stuffed his hands into his pockets and looked over at you as you two began to roam the streets with time to kill after his piercing.

“looks nice on you, dwaekki,” you’d coo at him with a teasing nickname. you always thought he looked attractive no matter what look he tried to pull. at the end of the day he was still your precious dwaekki.

“its gonna look really nice on stage too, i hope you told your managers about this,” you add.

a slightly alarmed look takes over changbin’s face as his eyebrows raise slightly. this earns him a pained wince that he tries to bite back.

“right.. i should tell them, shouldn’t i?”

hwang hyunjin -;-

okay okay i will fuckin go to my grave on this one. first of all, hyunjin won’t settle for just one piercing. and no, this is not me being indecisive. i am absolutely convinced that he would get just a standard lip piercing but also nipple piercings. he’s just extra like that. that and i think that honestly him and jeongin are the most likely of the skz boys to get some sort of a body piercing.

you’d noticed quickly noticed as soon as hyunjin had stopped by your house that a shiny ring of metal adorned his plush lower lip. how could you not? it always seemed like anything hyunjin added to his face made him so much more stunning. the ever-doting partner you were, you spoke up.

“jinnie? did you forget to take off your jewelry before you left?”

“no? oh- this is real jagiya~” he cooed with his velvety voice, quickly resting his slender fingers against your hips and gently pulling you closer.

“when did you get that? i know you haven’t been able to visit for a bit but i figured in the pics you guys took it was just one of your fakes,” you’d responded with your face blooming with an intense blush.

“mmm almost two weeks ago now gongjunim~” he clarified, you could feel the metal that was warmed from his lips just barely brush against your own.

the ever devious little ferret boy he was, he waited for you to begin to reply. before you could even get a word out, however he crashed his lips against yours.

when you two finally pulled apart, he chuckled, a few strands of hair falling into his eyes as he looked down at you.

“i’ve got.. other ones too… but those are for later..~” hyunjin said with his eyes flicking down, a subtle gesture to his chest. cue your blush darkening seemingly infinitely.

“did they hurt?” you ask dumbly, eyes unfocused as you were too flustered to quite realize what you were even saying.

“jagiyaaa you had to ruin the moment? of course it hurt!” hyunjin whined, before the two of you erupted into giggles.

han jisung -;-

my dear sweet hannie he looks so nice in so much. i think the best thing that would fit his aesthetic though would be a nice subtle diamond nose stud. it would add such a cute asymmetric pop of interest to his face that would match literally anything he wore.

another ‘drag you along for moral support’ type of person but he actually needs moral support a little bit. fortunately, unlike binnie, jisung has a little more forethought to actually plan out what he wants, where he put it and actually requesting permission from the producers.

he’d even asked you. jisung knew you’d love him with anything but seeing him with a nose piercing seemed to just itch a special part of your brain the best way.

you held his hand sweetly as he sat at the chair, chewing on his lower lip nervously. you peppered his face with soft kisses before stepping back to allow the piercer to do his job. he squeezed his eyes tightly shut, bracing himself for the pain. however, as quickly as it began, it was over. jisung blinked as he let go of your hand, the piercer making quick work of inserting the stud.

“good job jagi!” you smiled at him as he stood up, still a little stunned. ‘god he looks hot…’ you thought to yourself.

pushing back the thought jisung grinned and hugged you tight. “thank you for coming aegiya~”

in the taxi back to the dorm, your eyes kept flicking back to jisung’s new facial jewelry. “aegi~ aegiyaaa~” he giggled at you in a sing-song voice as he leaned forward to press a few sweet smooches to your cheek.

“it looks re-really n-nice, jagi,” you said softly, your mind finally settling out of your ‘gotta protect’ mindset and slipping back into your whipped little ‘god my boyfriend is hot’ mindset.

a wicked playful grin spread across jisung’s lips. man was he going to have a fun time with his new teasing topic.

maybe this is my baby-stayness showing but i don’t remember any outfits where felix wore fake piercings so i don’t even have a baseline for what would look nice on him. that being said, for similar reasons that i mentioned for minho, a nose piercing would break up his gestures a little too much, but i think that he would also find too much inconvenience in having a lip piercing. thus we settle on a right eyebrow piercing to offset his left ear lobe piercings. felix already had the piercing but stopped wearing it for the sake of plot-

initially it was all just a joke. felix loved to send you selfies on snapchat and one day you found yourself particularly interested in the fake piercing filter. it had given him a stunning black bar eyebrow piercing, which sent a shiver to your core.

“lixie? you need to post that one,” you’d sent him in a voice message. fortunately, all of the stays had seemed to agree with you as well.

“do you really think i’d look good with an eyebrow piercing?” he’d shot a voice message back.

suddenly, your phone started to ring. felix was trying to facetime you? you answer.

when the call tunes in, your face immediately flushes a hot red as you see felix with a silver bar through his left brow. his eyes widen slightly at your reaction, before he chuckles softly.

“since when have you had that?!” you exclaim, lifting your free hand to cover your face in vain.

“i got it when i was seventeen i think, it was a stupid decision but i didn’t expect you to react this way babe,” felix says curiously as he smiles warmly. he loved seeing just how infatuated you were with him and how flustered he made you.

he felt the same exact way though, and he was never afraid to show it. you two always brought each other up. felix made a mental note to start wearing his piercing again.

kim seungmin -;-

fuck this exact thought forces my repressed seungmin bias to plague my thoughts exponentially. its hard for me to honestly pick anything other than a labret ring piercing for him. labret piercing seungmin ruins me inside i swear- also im sorry this one seemed to lean way more on seungmin’s perspective

seungmin didn’t actually intend to hide the piercing from you. in fact, he didn’t even hide it at all. however, you were under the impression that the piercing was simply a fake one like he’d used many times before. the producers always seemed to love seeing him in that type of piercing anyway.

you also weren’t normally allowed to kiss him while he had the fake on, lest it move or fall off. don’t get me wrong, he didn’t like the arrangement either. but alas, appeasing the producers was the choice he had to make.

this all culminated into a perfect front for him to actually go ahead and get the piercing. it served multiple purposes, he thought. as the producers seemed to have him wear the fake one more and more recently. his second, more favorite purpose was to drive you crazy. he saw how you seemed to practically drool over him especially whenever he wore the fake.

your phone lock screen was a photo of him wearing it from the last show he did wearing one for god’s sake.

he’d managed four and a half weeks before he finally cracked. most of the initial tenderness and pain of the healing piercing had subsided by then and he couldn’t hold back anymore. he just needed to kiss you again.

you’d just arrived to the studio, bags with drink carriers full of various drinks in your hands. you had barely set down the bags before seungmin seemed to usher you away from the other boys into a more secluded area of the studio.

pinning you against the wall, you try to protest in worry, “minnie your fake-“

he cuts you off. you immediately notice how this piercing doesn’t seem to move from it’s anchor point. he kisses you deeply, cupping your face with one hand and resting his opposite arm above your head. he holds the kiss for what feels like forever, before pulling away with a small huff.

“it’s real…”

yang jeongin -;-

okay, another wildcard but as the youngest i feel like in a classic himbo youngest fashion jeongin would get a belly button piercing. i don’t have much other reasoning other than that and i think he’d look hot with one tbh.

“y/n-ah! y/n-ah! look!” jeongin exclaimed happily as he grinned his big silly grin, scrambling up from the sofa he was sitting on in the lounge to see you when you’d entered the dorm. he lifted his shirt, and as you were about to turn away shyly and shout at him to not just undress in front of you, he stopped mid-chest.

your eyes widen as you blush, your attention immediately caught by the shiny silver jewelry that adorned the maknae’s belly.

“innie its- wow.” you say as you freeze in your tracks, stunned.

“do you like it? seungmin and hyunjin took me the other day it looks so cute right?” he giggled, the same wide silly grin plastered on his cheeks.

you definitely did like it. you were stunned, at a loss for words. jeongin let go of his shirt as his giggle turned more into a laugh.

“i wasn’t expecting you to do something so… bold?” you tried to choke out as jeongin pulled you close and hugged you. you could feel the piercing subtly through his shirt.

“i thought it would be fun and it looks nice doesn’t it? just wait until i can start using all the cool jewelry when this heals,” jeongin said with teasing excitement

“oh god jeongin-baby you’re going to be the death of me,” you said with a mock groan, laughing softly as you kissed his jawline. “i just gotta ask though, why the belly button?”

you were only met with a shrug as jeongin spoke, “not really sure, i was looking at pictures and i saw not a lot of guys get it.”

fair, but to you this was all the more reason to be so enamored by it. the rarity. jeongin was truly a special creature…

"Are you sure about that shirt, darling?" Phil's voice floated from the other room, his tone laced with playful skepticism.

You stood in front of the mirror, adjusting the collar of the shirt you had chosen for your day out with Phil. It was supposed to be a simple outing, just the two of you enjoying each other's company, but Phil seemed determined to make it difficult.

You rolled your eyes, knowing this routine all too well. "Yes, Phil, I'm sure. It looks fine."

But Phil appeared in the doorway, a mischievous grin on his face as he scrutinized your outfit. "I don't know, love. It's a bit... bland, don't you think?"

You sighed, feeling amusement bubbling up within you. "Phil, we've been through this. I like this shirt. Can we please just go?"

But Phil shook his head, still wearing that cheeky grin. "I'm sorry, darling, but I can't let you go out looking like that. It's simply not up to my standards."

You groaned inwardly, knowing there was no point in arguing with him. Phil had always been particular about fashion, even more so now that he was no longer in the hairdressing business. He seemed to take great pleasure in teasing you about your wardrobe choices, always insisting on making last-minute adjustments.

With a resigned chuckle, you headed back to your closet, searching for another outfit that might meet Phil's approval. As you changed, you couldn't help but chuckle to yourself, realizing that maybe Phil just wanted an excuse to play fashion critic.

"Alright, how about this?" you asked, stepping back into the room in a different shirt, hoping this one would pass muster.

Phil's eyes lit up with mock seriousness as he took in your appearance, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Now that's more like it," he declared dramatically, his voice filled with mock satisfaction. "You look absolutely stunning, my dear."

You grinned, feeling a sense of satisfaction at Phil's over-the-top approval. Despite his fussiness, you knew that his intentions were good, and you couldn't help but be amused by his antics.

"Thank you, Phil," you replied, your voice tinged with amusement. "I'm glad you approve."

You glanced up, catching the gaze of the woman in question as she quickly averted her eyes, a faint blush coloring her cheeks. You couldn't help but chuckle, a surge of confidence swelling within you as you turned back to the menu.

"Can you blame her?" you replied with a playful wink, your tone light and teasing. "I mean, look at me. I'm irresistible."

Phil rolled his eyes, though there was a hint of amusement in his expression. "Oh, here we go again with the ego boost."

You chuckled, reaching across the table to playfully nudge him. "Hey, you know it's true."

But before you could continue, Phil's hand shot out, swatting your arm with exaggerated force. It drew the attention of nearby diners as you blinked in surprise.

"What was that for?" you demanded, feigning offense as you rubbed your arm where Phil had made contact.

Phil's eyes danced with amusement as he leaned in closer, his voice filled with mock seriousness. "I can't let you get too cocky now, can I? Gotta keep that ego in check."

You laughed, shaking your head at Phil's antics. Despite his teasing, you knew that his love for you ran deep, and you couldn't imagine spending your life with anyone else.

With a smile, you leaned back in your booth, ready to enjoy your meal and the playful banter that always accompanied your outings with Phil. With him by your side, every day was an adventure filled with laughter and love, and you wouldn't have it any other way.

As you and Phil stepped through the door of your home, Phil couldn't resist a playful quip, "Well, if it isn't the dynamic duo returning from their diner escapade."

light and L probably wouldn’t end up openly dating though they’d definitely flirt terribly and they may date in private. they definitely feel. a certain way about each other. but both are far too smart to draw suspicion to themselves by dating. misa probably sees it coming because their frustrations were very similar from the start and they have similar opinions about the government (even if she thinks light is harmless and L is kira). soichiro is a different story because he’s likely wary around L anyways. L doesnt like the police even if he’s working on the case by recommendation and when light waltzes in and makes contact he knows immediately that L is the type of person light would get involved with to make him uncomfortable. he still refuses to acknowledge whatever light is going through isn’t something he’ll grow out of.

i’m not sure what hair color L likes better! he definitely thinks light is attractive but he’s still primarily attracted to his intelligence. im sure L is. Completely Definitely super Normal about light’s fashion choices…. (no one believes him)

L wouldnt be comfortable at all with kiyomi discovering shit because he’s a very secretive lone wolf as always and wouldn’t want her messing anything up for him or light even if she’s a supporter, but he gets along with her just fine as a person. Mikami likely knows fairly quickly light is kira 2 because light tells him. they’re best friends and mikami is his manager so light probably manipulates mikami’s feelings for him as he does with misa in canon (without dating him) but sees him more like another rem. he’s a friend, but definitely not “anywhere near his league”.

i imagine light’s fanbase is more international! japan is pretty rule driven and strict so like ado’s “usseewa” he probably gets a lot of people in japan disliking his music and talking controversially about it but internationally in countries that have a more rebellious outlook he’s the coolest guy around. his relationship with his fans is not unlike his relationship to his peers in canon, he charms them and talks to them and looks cute and genuine even if it’s an act, but he’s a bit of an outcast among his peers who think he’s a bit of a freak or a mental case. and also- funny you mention hideki 💀 i never did decide on this but it had crossed my mind

i talked about ryuk and L in an ask i answered a few minutes ago so ill go more in depth on the others! light and ryuk get along much the same as misa and ryuk did, but ryuk thinks light is far more entertaining than L so hes a little more enthusiastic. when it comes to rem i think he would play games with her! he probably treats her a little like a big sister or almost motherly figure since he doesn’t have one so rem becomes very protective of him

light doesn’t have a relationship with sachiko since she’s dead which causes a lot of the friction, but his relationship with sayu is a lot closer than canon! he basically had to look after her himself when their dad often wasn’t available and she thinks he’s super cool and thinks the world of him while light is pretty protective of sayu in return because it’s always been the two of them against the world

I figured L would find the death note pretty similarly to light because he’s already in japan himself.

new update!!!! i’m going insane so here’s my thoughts on it (it’s a long one)

First thoughts on the new update and things that make me go !!!! (hope you’ve already seen it all otherwise this won’t make sense):

the new house when the page is loading!!! so cute!! with the little color paper chains that eddie showed how to make

the cute little gif of House being drawn (ok so that happens when you open it, i just wanted to see if it hada a name)

EYES oh my (edit: so i think it’s my monitor or browser but i’ve always seen the eyes, it’s like theyre just secondary banners, so there’s that)

and with the news comes a new buddy, dont really know what Howdy's talking about but i love the rythm.

oohhh they mention the little drawings! and the hint of bugs!! ...and the tiny update about the guestbook, who is talking??? what ringing??

have you seen the telephone box in the merchandise page?!?!?!? they designed a whole package for it!! THW WORK AND LOVE THAT GOES INTO THIS!!! AHAHHHHH!!!

and the illustrations for the Eddie thing are so cute!!! they remind me of blue's clues original style

there's a coloring book!!!! i need that as actual merch someday please

THE EXHIBITION!!!! The phone is there!!! Wally is made out of actual cardboard!! dont see the puppet you could see in the reflections of the records though (new drawing! you can hear heartbeats, maybe they belong to house?)

guestbook time!!! new bug buddy (with my darling eddie going through it) (wonder if there's something in the glitches at the end of the videos)

first time there's a colored background (yellow), interesting choice, and no eyes. (ok only now just listened to the audio from the buddy, so its wally but not his eyes, just him i guess?)

Clown i love you !! and everyone in the team!!! there is so much new content, and you made physical things!!! and there's audios now that really bring evrything to life!!! The banners are so great! All the bugs are so colorful and fun! You rearranged so much! The pixel art is adorable!!! thank you so much for this wonderful experience, will definitely have to go through everything again just to admire it more (and of course check for more hidden little things)

it's such a breeze. mongrang held out a note in near writing. he had rock candy wrapped in a small present, and then the top of the note has jaha name written on the top in such a neat chinese note. he sighed and shoved the note in the bottom of the ribbon so it won't fall out of the present. mongrang looked around and saw women eyeing him like a wet horny dog wanting a handsome man to fuck them, but he has no attraction to them whatsoever but is forced to just for the pervert demon role. he had someone in his mind other than these women.

mongrang dressed so fancy and so elegant as he's invited to an event that has to dress, be attired, glamorous, and royal looking as he could possibly be. the black rabbit clan wasn't far. for a man being trained by a badass master, being worked up for footwork, strength, reflexes, and swordsmanship. for being part of the light faction after all. he jumped from the forest to the forest. Until he can see the plum blossom pavilion or the town of ilyang right across from him. he slowly put the heel of his foot to the concrete ground, directly entrance of the black rabbit clan.

"Is he ready yet? I'm not trying to wait all day for that asshole to hurry up and get done." his hand shuttered in freeze once he heard the door opened during his process about the mad demon.

His jaw was on the floor once he scanned him, jaha was a beautiful man. His hair was all out like an ocean, and they wore matching outfits, but in a different color, he tied a small gulp of his hair into a small bun and showed off his style like he's a chinese model wearing a traditional outfit to shock the model industry. "What the fuck are you standing at poopy pants?" He had to pick the jaw off the floor to respond back to his sass. like away. the mad demon has a personality even to be shown to the factions of china and even to the league.

"Finally. It took you long enough. anyways. this event starts in about..uh 20 minutes. so we have enough time to eat something together. so you won't get poisoned by their food since the event is by a pavilion leader."

"I'll be fine. I will just kill them if they even think about putting drugs in my drink to kill me out of poison. But enough about that. where are you taking me?" he made eye contact with him and didn't say a single word to him back. The only thing in the silence is jaha's little insultive "hm," but he had an idea. mongrang slowly slid his fat fingers in the holes of jaha's hand and moved his body to the wall outside of his sect. he looked so sensual at this move, mongrang panted at his little looks. he's so sexy but so dangerous, everything you need in a woman or a man, but the man's side is a crazy demon that drugs people for fun. mongrang's fat hand slowly moved to the tip of his lips and tried to boost the mood a bit between their breath merging like soda and mint.

"I'm pretty sure you're thinking...am I going to kiss you? Or do you want to stab me in the chest for acting out like this. I can do this all day and even all my life.." he gridded his teeth like sand paper, breathing so hard it would make a tornado scared. so..do it. he reached to his neck and slammed his lips against him, smearing their lips together so harshly that even the wall was closing in on them together so deeply. he was out for blood, forcing mongrang into submission to entwine their tougues to stick together. That was so hot that even he had to moan out of that.

so then, jaha wrapped his arm around his body and pushed his neck closer into the kiss, so ravenous and so slow into it to be sure that it's filled with pure domination and lust. even their abs were touching together like anime tits, mongrang literally felt himself losing it to him but not here and not now. Not when a guard, a heavenly general, a subordinate, or anybody can come out of the gate and see them kissing so sensual. he moved himself out of the kiss. trying to catch his breath.

jaha also had to get it reclaimed back. Marks of saliva were like webs dipped in water, "ah...you ..fucking asshole. I wanted for you to continue. Why did you stop?" he sucked up some of his breath when the tie of their saliva broke. "Ah... you are so mean to me? take some accountability for your attitude, jaha. or do I need to shut you up myself."

"You know what. Just kiss me. fuck it.

"Are you challenging me right now? If you want to fight, then we can fight." jaha shoved his face in front of his so closely that even their noses were touch, and their eyes were 3 feet for each other. "I could give you an insult like normal. Poopy pants of the light faction. but having to deal with your flirting is so consistent. and I'm trying to keep that consistency."

"Are you saying you want to make out with me?"

"No, I'm just saying that your total lack of talent is starting to keep me up at night." he didn't even show his intimidation that much through his aura. but he only spat insults at him for no reason or to quince his hunger for mongrang's deliciously slim body. jaha crushed his small lips into mongrang. He hopes to get a taste or to insert some check that he's at the top here. he's always on top for such a dangerous young man with insanity bubbling in his head. mongrang slipped his skinny tougue right inside of his, leaving out only a small leak of saliva coming from the caves of their mouths. jaha softly moaned as his tougue action. starting to have the electrifying arouse surround his mind. both of them had that glow to their eyes. Even when they are fighting. They look at each other in either hatred or challenge. But this is different. they had a different glance at each other than before. it's not conflicted or hating. it's lust going on between them. but then.

A joint was pressed down. mongrang slid his heated hand onto the skin of his waist. it wasn't the clothes. Just the pure body. they both glanced at the door once they heard it open, their eyes rattled in sync as it was hongshin carrying a bag of stolen money in her hand. as she looked to her left is mongrang and jaha properly talking like nothing happened.

"What are you two doing? I just got back in through the back gate. gun needs to fix that?"

"Oh It's nothing. I was just telling the shit dog that I can smell his pants from here since he reeks of diarrhea." jaha had to glance at mongrang with a menacing look to keep his facade. "jaha you son of a bitch."

"you guys are so weird. Anyways. I'm gonna go get some food. And jaha."

"H-huh?" his drowsy look of lust almost leaked out of his face.

"Let me know if we have any more errands to do. I will inform the others about it. alrighty. I'm taking my leave. See you♡" she walked off with a weird energy lifting off her shoulders. like her mere presence didn't even belong there.

"good lord."

"Let's hurry to this party. I'm trying to get this over with so I can kiss you more. I'm really craving it." he said with a seductive accent. "Shut up. Ahh.." they got to their event. men and women were giving a glare from all over their bodies. jaha saw the booze and wanted to drink it all, while mongrang wanted to sparkle his face and look like a Chad towards women as the pervert demon. jaha took a shot of the booze and sat down in a random fancy table somewhere as he's surrounded by rich province men, girls, women, and old men even from the depths of china's caverns. he was observant. being in such a room when he can't even take a glance at rich Chinese men with a superiority complex. he saw mongrang cuddling with a girl with her mouth drowning of giggling and self-indulgent to such a man like mongrang..

He took once more sip of booze, eyeing at them in such an analysistic way. mongrang had his facade of pretending to be into the women chasing after them with their eyes love blind. he had that smirk. but it wasn't a real smirk. The purpose of the smirk was to charm women and seem polite to them, nice, caring, and the personality of being handsome. he rested his hand to a nearby table, putting the empty cup down to look at him in a far distance..he thought to himself: "why do I care about him so much..? I never want to associate myself with that asshole but I can't seem to drive myself to hate him even more. Did he put a charm on me? is this the male version of Badger Games? this is stupid. I'm being stupid. badger games don't work on me, but somehow an idiotic pervert is able to charm me...the mad demon..?" jaha slowly walked up with his lip, quivering in anger at these thoughts beating his love life into mush, having to think about being with a person you always hated is annoying.

he tapped the woman's shoulder. growing much more anger at this entire moment. this girl doesn't deserve to have a man like mongrang. isn't she a whore like all the rest of the women that approach him, giggling like teenage girls towards a corny boy band. "Who are you?" his lip curled in disgust at the thought of mongrang fucking a women in his private quarters but I think it might be jealousy planting into his heart. "Move out the way whore." his fat hands shoved her against since touching his hands feel like metal. she tensed up and walked away from saying one word to this random stranger. bad mouths get torn in the face of the ancient Asian world.

"what- Why did you do that? I thought that you didn't want to-"

"Dance with me."

"Oh, ehm, ok. are you sure? Everyone is staring at us." Jaha sensually walked up, clearly not giving a fuck about their eyes facing directly to two men dancing together as if they are together. But who cares about them? what are you looking at? jaha reached to the middle of each finger and slid their hands to be a complete puzzle together. and then they moved both in sync to the rhythm of the beautifully written and orchestrated chinese music in the background. their hand were merging together like a mix of colors in a paintset. since their hair is long enough to be big pigtails as a prank to be shown anyway.

they both glanced at each other, jaha's troubled attitude seemed to fade away at the midst of this royal dance between them. their dances were like taking out a pencil and creating a really beautiful project. each shade, each color, each detail, and each trimming. once it's finished. the remaining project can be taken to france's most beautiful museums. they both stepped back, and both of them were like in the spotlight. mongrang grabbed his waist and struck a finishing pose. they didn't even care if they were embarrassed. They didn't care if people hated them, and they didn't care about people at all.

jaha opened his red eyes so smally and zoomed his eyes at mongrang's sweat at trying to hold jaha at this pose. hard to carry a man with big pounds. he bounced himself right up and laid his head on mongrang's beefy chest. "Meet me outside. we will need to talk about something when this event is over. I'm not trying to see no drunken messes in here." Scoffing at jaha's normal disrespectfulness and attitude.

It was a couple of hours together. it was midnight. and the event is still going. mongrang and jaha slowly walked out of it once they felt tired. jaha looked at him once again, still with that anger shoved in him like a pack of gum. "Ok so...I wanted to talk to you about us. I feel like we have been liking each other even more for the past few weeks, even though we have already kissed multiple times, but that doesn't count as a relationship. I don't know what to do about you shit dog. until we can work it out and sort it out properly."

"You saying you like me..but your mind doesn't know for sure yet?"

"Yes." mongrang yawned and rubbed his eyes, having little sprays of tears in his eyeballs.

"So what? I still like you. and you like me. if you aren't sure about it yet, then it's fine. I'm not gonna force it upon your own will since we were previously enemies before. if you want more time then I won't stop you."

"No, but I'm saying that I want you more."

"WHAT?"

he dimmed his eyes like what he said wasn't the cause of an aphrodisiac or the booze at all. but what he's saying is the truth, mongrang was so dumbfounded and surprised that even question marks are hanging above his head. "I- you really do? An insane maniac like you? A madman.. like you..is able to say something like that?"

jaha grabbed his face and kissed his lips on the spot. leaving his reaction to only to dissappear when mongrang starts to accept his kiss. mongrang stepped back into whatever place his feet could lead him that doesn't show the public. jaha was forcing the kiss. but he enjoyed it just as his actions. they were on some concrete.

which means they are at the back of a building or an area to put trash in, jaha moaned into this sloppy kiss, thinking about nothing but mongrang and the black rabbit clan's wellbeing. mongrang placed him on his lap and smoothed his hands to his body. jaha was actually so in love, but showing it would only cause damage to himself and then blow it off as a false emotion. the hands of mongrang went to his neck and hair, softly caressing it like it's a teddy bear. mongrang closed himself deeper into their kiss like rock. pushing their heads together just for their sensual session of their lips.

mongrang breathed out once their lips separated from each other. jaha's eyes looked up and down onto him, and the only thing he saw was just pure enjoyment of the mad demon's seductive fury. "You could battle me in tougues shit dog. and then succeed. but I have something else in mind."

"Oh really? do it then."

ATPOAIM Ep 4- Still...at their very best

As promised, here comes my break-down/ interpretation of yesterday's episode. I'm not really sure if I'm on to anything here. Just thoughts. a discussion starter perhaps. also, I do talk about the criticisms or problems that I have with this episode towards the end.

The opening scene does a lot to set the tone of this episode and let us know, from the start, that it is in stark contrast to episodes 1, 2, and 3.

For one thing, it's in color as opposed to black and white. The style of filming is difference. we see the wide open space surrounding Matty on his mattress, instead of the camera moving along with him, or, focusing on him.

He doesn't acknowledge the camera in the way that he does in previous episodes. In fact, he spends the first 59 seconds of a, roughly, 8 minute video just getting out of bed and getting dressed. Might not seem like a lot of time, but in a short video like this, every second counts. So, the decision to focus so much on this opening moment is deliberate.

The MUSIC, lest we skip over that, is also a big deal. It does have an eerie-ness to it that suggests we should feel unsettled by what we're seeing, maybe?

Of course, the first things that happen in the mid of the audience are: wtf? why is he sleeping on the floor? why does he sleep like that? where/what is this?

Curiously, the first thing that he reaches for is the oxygen mask? I wonder if it's sort of the opposite of reaching for cigarettes (or maybe im projecting as someone who has recently quit smoking, lmao). In any case, it's not normal. That is, it's not the sort of thing one usually does when waking up in the morning. Is it to highlight the artificiality of the set up? Is it the David Lynch thing? I know he had an oxygen tank for ATVB, but I can't remember how consistently he used it. Wasn't at every show, was it? idk. Or maybe it is simply to remind us of the strangeness of the seemingly mundane things that we are about to watch him do?

His clothes are laid out for him on the cart, which, again, makes the perfectly normal act of getting dressed in the morning very strange. Perhaps also eliminates the choice. He doesn't need to make a decision about what to choose, cuz there are no options. Kind of like a uniform.

First thing he does when he's dressed and has made his "bed" is go up to the wall. I'm interested in these.

Because, he is fixated on it, and because that's what we see later on.

The music and the tone of the moment changes when he moves on to making coffee (fuck, now im really craving a good cup of coffee).

The coffee-making scene is utilizing lab apparatus. Though, I will say, drip coffee does usually use a grinder, a scale, filter paper, etc. So, I suppose that process is, in itself, adjacent to working in a lab. It also requires exactitude, slow motion, a lot of waiting around for the coffee to finish brewing and dripping, etc. (side note: the coffee he makes is nowhere near as strong as he should be. What kinda color is that, Matty?!) So, is he dramatizing the process? exaggerating skills required for the task? or i he SO committed to his grass thing that he's taken to sleeping in his lab and this is legit just an obsessed scientist making coffee in his lab thats also his home.

Some of you have pointed out that the door he exits from and the door he enters through are two different doors to the same building. If that's the case, is he suggesting some sort of cyclical nature to this everyday routine (in contrast to the day in the life thing that we saw in episode 1? Two sides, one coin?

Now, he's in an entire different lab space! Here's everything we can see when he first enters.

The greenery certainly stands out in the otherwise monochromatic setting, and we shortly see him make very exact moves to snip a "sample" of the plant, and then mist it. But not before he puts on his "Matty" coat and tosses away the "Truman Black" coat in the biohazard bin (more on that in a bit).

He moves on from his potted plant to his ??? patch of grass perhaps? which, remember, we saw a picture of in the first minute of the video. on his wall of sketches and images. One of the images was showing the layers underneath the grass. Meaning that what we see at the top in only the surface?

Briefly, we see a crack in his "character." In contrast to making deliberate and precise moves, he's suddenly stirring chaos. Trying to ride the cart, fucking with the drill, and watching stuff on his phone. You can toss the Truman Black lab coat into the biohazard bin but you can't take the Truman Black out of the Matty?? after all, the Matty dude is just a coat that he put on. He can take it back off at any moment. Next, he gets pretty tactile. "touching grass" as we joked yesterday, but maybe also testing it a bit? We get a visual trick that makes him go from hovering over the small patch of grass to laying in a much bigger one. Followed very quickly by him posing for the SATVB Tour poster.

which is the very first time that we feel there's someone maybe with him? who's taking the picture for the poster? is it pre-set? but we didn't see any signs of it in the room prior to the shot. Has more stuff happened in between, that is conveniently left out? has more time passed by? is that why the grass is larger?

He ends the video by shutting things down and pulling the lever, just like he used to do at the end of ATVB shows.

I'm not entirely sure what the "studying plant in lab" is alluding to or suggesting other than bringing the natural into an unnatural space? experimentation? exercise of control over natural being? construct building? I think that's the key to putting together the subject matter of the following tour.

NOW FOR HANG UPS I HAVE these might not be legit criticisms. It may be that once we get more info/ see more episodes, these things will become clear, but for now,

I'm not sure that this needed to be an episode of atpoaim. Like, couldn't the tour announcement have been its own thing? the series seems to have had a very specific goal that it was trying to achieve in a very specific way, and this was different. Didn't Matty say atpoaim was meant to get to color gradually as the series also got more theatrical and dramatic? kind of as a parallel to the 1975? this wasn't gradual. this went into color right away!

We also know that Matty filmed this in NJ a few weeks ago. MUCH after filming other stuff for future atpoaim episodes. Does this mean he's scrapped all previous footage and changed the whole plan? is this a brief interruption and we get back to normal next month with episode 5? is episode 5 gonna be totally new and different from an original episode 5 that maybe he'd planned before? This is why I say, if the tour announcement isn't intrinsic to where atpoaim is going, then it should've just been its own thing.

INCOHERENT SIDE ORDER RAMBLING/SPECULATION YIPPEEEEE ^_^

ok so first and foremost these things seeming, to me, to be a mem cake and possibly a depiction of a sticker iso padre has on his shell, im. a little bit concerned. please dont make iso padre a villain. hes my special guy.

i do however think its worth noting that the thing on the right appears to be a plush octopus. yknow, like. uh.

anyway. i compared the gameplay to the cybergrind in my other post, and frankly it.. doesnt seem like a stretch to say that might not be too far off? it seems like it relies a lot on enemy hoards attacking you, at least.

THIS is very interesting to me, especially seeing as pearl refers to the player as eight, yet the wording here suggests you can also play as an inkling. im... not sure how that could be handled, i guess we'll just have to see

it also looks like the pearl drone can be upgraded, which is cool :3

the trailer shows a lot of different ink colors, and it seems like it might be connected to the whole palette mechanic? like, your ink starts off white/offwhite but as you install more chips your ink color changes to reflect the color of them.

for example, eight's ink does seem to roughly reflect the chips in their palette shown here, being a reddish-brown with blue highlights.

in addition to the coral imagery we saw in the first trailer, it seems like virtualization is a big theme in this trailer, if that makes sense. specifically a lot of visuals of things materializing from nothing, as well as a lot of matrix-style scrolling numbers

i dunno, it has a sort of "simulation" kinda vibe to it.

ok i joked about this thing having parts that vaguely remind me of tartar but i really dont imagine thats actually the case. honestly, even as someone who really likes tartar, i think it would be kinda lazy to bring him back as a villain.

on an unrelated note, the display on the top left of that image looks like it has a lil torpedo on it. neat!

there is a notable lack of marina in this trailer, which leads me to believe she might be like. missing or something. the way this is phrased makes it sound like pearl prompted acht by like, asking if she's seen marina or something like that.

Salutations! I adore the way you draw hair. Could you give a detailed explanation of your process?

sure ! FIRST AND FOREMOST THOUGH!

note that the way i do hair , can vary extremely in process depending on what style im choosing, hair type or even just like, the purpose of a picture, its gonna be different every way, i CANT give an indepth explanation of every single type , i do always reccomend to search up hairstyles and do your own studies and practice with good refs, also SEARCH UP BLACK HAIRSTYLE ART TUTORIALS even if you THINK you wouldnt be able to draw really curly hair or locs or protective hairstyles, learning is valuable, give yourself time.

lets take subject M for a spin , i think one of the basics here is to treat hair as a structure, depending on how its supported , draped, whatever, it looks awkward if you just draw it on its own without much rhyme or reason to how its coming out the head, SKETCH out a hairline , remeber to not make it too low (the eyebrows need their own space) or way too high ( i mean. unless your character is balding then you should search up how that looks lol)

im a big fan of hair having its own gravity of sorts, the puffier the better if we talking about wavy to big curls, i like spiral shapes a lot that pile onto eachother when im rendering hair this way, rather than a repetition of curl-spike, google curled up ribbons because thats easier to copy structurally than hair head on . but you make your own rules.

in terms of coloring, PUT a general big shadow of where the lighting hits before even rendering, its better to start simple than get caught up on detailing each strand head on and realizing it looks like you pasted a clip art of high rendered fur onto a piece of paper. it makes things already look less flat.

i think what really makes hair feel like HAIR is a second shadow color, this should go in only the darkest parts , giving depth to strands, redefine parts like the bangs or fringe by bringing the base color again to erase some of the general shading, follow the form , if you have to lower stabilization to have your lines be less straight then do so, not even the straightest hair is actually a full on straight line.

highlights are dependant on the intensity/distance of your light source, the more overhead and close to the hair they tend to form a "halo" shape as a highlight where the parting starts, IT ALSO DEPENDS ON HAIR TEXTURE , if the hair isnt smooth it reflects less and light dissipates more, this is why you should search refs to more hair textures.

last but not least, i think the beauty of hair comes from how , no matter what you do, itll do whatever it wants to do at the end of the day, unless youre wearing the most glued down structured wig in the world, hair frizzes, loosens up, puffs out ,sticks out , i think adding up detail loose strands adds a very naturalistic feel to things , it makes it feel more like the character is a living person who actually moves and not just like a statue. overall , this is the most simplified version of how i currently render hair in my more detailed style, this isnt a tutorial, just a showcase.

also i keep repeating this but i mean it, search up and practice, Every texture of hair , not just straight to wavy or loose curl, do Not box yourself , there is a limitless potential with hair in design and illustration, hair is art.

Hello! I saw your post about IDs and found it super important and informative. Thank you for sharing!!

I have a question, if it’s no bother. Is IDing things with extensive detail better or worse than a two-sentence ID (or something similar)? I’m still learning and I wonder if cutting down would be a good idea, or if it’s not a problem to continue with longer descriptions? (Im also taking a ‘bad ID is better than no ID’ to heart, especially as I’m trying to ID art—something I’ve been avoiding because of its complexities. Overall you’ve really helped out and I wanted to thank you !!)

Thanks for asking! As this post puts it, people will have all kinds of personal preferences about the level of detail to include. I write what I consider to be kind of medium-length IDs, particularly when I describe fanart, but that's not like an objectively correct way to do it — so it's good to have a lot of different ideas and styles floating around out there, written by a variety of people.

Generally, it's best to err on the side of not too long — but if you want to write something a little longer, it might be appropriate if you mention the most important details first, so a reader can skip the rest of the ID once they feel like they get the picture?

Also, depending on the content of the post, the length of an ID might vary! If it's just a gif or something expressing agreement or disgust, with no other details relevant to what it's conveying or its humor, you can keep it short at "a person making X expression," or similar.

On the other hand, describing fanart, I get a little more into mood, color, and character outfits (still going in broad strokes, though). The exception is comics or other really complex/detailed art, which warrants a lot of summarizing. Occasional line breaks are important in this case so people who need IDs but don't use screenreaders can easily parse it.

One last thing — this isn't relevant to images that you're about to post, but when describing other people's posts, sometimes I look at the notes before writing an ID to see what aspects of an image people are commenting on. If I see a lot of people noticing and having an emotional reaction to some background detail in a piece of art, for example, then I'll be sure to mention it.

Hey! (Im that anon that sent an ask on your art accuracy. )Yes! Can you post a step by step?

Happy to oblige!

Our model today will be the legendary late Meat Loaf from the ‘I’d do anything for love’ music video! I’m just obsessed with Meat Loaf right now, don’t ask me why. I’ll do my best to describe the thought process as I go on!

Hope this helps!

Step 1.

Well of course you just start with a circle, nothing else to say. Ya know like the spongebob meme…

Step 2.

So just starting to map out about where the main facial features go. Just eyeballing and keeping it loose. I really never use any of the well known measuring techniques and honestly just draw the features onto a mostly blank head. I don’t really like most face guide techniques.

Like for example there’s tutorials that say you have to map out the face by lining up the eyes with the edge of the nose or measuring the proper width of a nose bridge with the width of the eye and all these little ‘shortcuts’ and rules. I’m sure we’ve all seen a ‘how to draw a face’ tutorial and while I know these are helpful for some people, I find them a little stifling to expression. They give you a good map to essentially draw a flawless, wooden, conventionally attractive model but not everyone looks the same. People have bigger noses and different snapped eyes and different length foreheads. Like, just fucking look at Meat Loaf!

Okay, rant over. Just embrace peoples unique beauty is all I’m trying to say and take that into account when you draw.

Step 3.

Starting to actually draw some of the features. As you can see I thought I put my little guideline for his eyes a little high for the shape of Meat Loaf’s face (Which I’d later change back in the line art, haha) I also draw the eyebrow line first before I draw the eyes, I don’t know why.

For noses I tend to draw a few circles for the nostrils and the tip then give a loose line for the bridge up to the brow bone. It works very well for most nose shapes. Keep it loose and tighten up the shapes as you go.

On a specific note, when I draw people with open mouths I almost always first map out the face with the jaw closed then tilt the jaw open as I go on. Something about immediately drawing that long line from the nose to the chin for an open jaw tends to just visually throws me off. Working digital has some very helpful benefits 😅

Step 4.

Okay, now that’s starting to look like a person. (Ignore the prosthetics!)

I think in this stage you can start to see my own style flare coming into play. I tend to exaggerate brow bones, lip shape and nose shape. While it’s not completely accurate to the original I think it adds to the features of whoever I’m drawing without going to a full caricature. I suppose this could be adding more ‘shape’ to something so it doesn’t appear so stiff. Highlight people uniqueness, ya know?

I’ll choose ‘expression’ over ‘accuracy’ any day 😅

Step 5.

Whoa that was a big change! …but actually not really.

Now that I’m confident(ish) I’ve got his features mostly correct I start thinking about shading and how it frames and highlights his face. I put most of my work into the expression of the line work so I’m just mapping out what needs to be highlighted and what needs to be black, essentially. And also very loosely drawing his hair 😅 I never put any thought into drawing hair. Really it’s just a shape they frames the face for me and that how I think about it.

It’s also around this point in the sketch that I spend a little more time ‘sculpting’ out the features a little more. I loosely put in their shape and about where they are then I take a little time to make them a little tighter and more accurate.

Now it’s on to cleaner line Art!

Step 6.

So really at this point it’s just tracing. For me specifically, I put A LOT of emphasis into line weight and I think that’s what makes my work unique. I also put a lot of emphasis into the black space of the piece as well. Most of my shading and shape comes from my line art rather than my colors, and that’s just how I like it.

Final touches

After I remove the sketch layer underneath i usually add a few little detail lines or more cross hatching to emphasis certain areas. Just really stylizing it more to my liking.

I wasn’t planning on coloring it but I spent like 5 minutes putting in some loose colors because I thought the contrasting lighting looked interesting... I guess that’s all I have to say about that.

Now I hope you all are filled with the urge to go watch the ‘I’d do anything for love’ music video. It’s... a ride.

I hope this was sooomewhat helpful and nice little glimpse of my process. I want to emphasis again that I personally believe there’s no ‘right way’ to draw a face. There’s no specific cheat code on how to draw expression good. There’s no ‘ideal’ face. im pretty sure the point of the advice “if you have adhd, get a planner” is actually intended to be “find a way to make planning and organization fun for you.” decorating and using an aesthetic (whatever that means to you) physical paper planner, journal, diary, or agenda etc. of things you need to remember or do is actually a whole hobby enjoyed by ND and NT people and it can be really really fun! think stickers and washi tape and cute post-it notes, pasting in receipts and movie tickets and little photos from dates with friends, different colored inks and highlighters. it’s an inexpensive hobby, too. if you’re not an artsy person, there’s still plenty of ways to make it satisfying, like logging every day you did an activity, or developing a color coding system for tasks or information, or keeping and indexing notes and information about your special interests, or even just slapping stickers or printed pictures of your blorbo all over every other page to give yourself a reason to look at it.

for me, analog planners are actually a necessity and it’s life changing because digital calendars and planner systems don’t work for my brain. it’s joyless for me so i forget to check it and the notifications and reminders pile up unread. but having a physical book (that i get to cover in doodles and stickers) to refer to is completely different for me. if i did not have my notebooks i would not make appointments. i would let my meds go unfilled. i would not remember things like my address or how much money i need to put aside for bills each month. i would not have graduated college, and all of that is even being on my medication. i consider all my notebooks and journals and planners to be disability aids, just as much as my meds, my headphones, and my glasses.

and i really think this could help a lot of people with adhd, not just me! adhd brains remember to do fun things, and making the act of listing and checking and updating and recording the vital things of your daily life and information you need or want to remember in and of itself fun is a great way to slowly get your life together. and i promise that as cringe and boring as it sounds, having your shit together will improve your quality of life. you will feel better about yourself when you’re filling all your meds and paying all your bills on time. when you’re remembering your coworker’s names and your friend’s birthdays because you made a list.

i understand how the “get a planner” advice can sound invalidating because if you’re just trying to magically force yourself to remember to joylessly write down the dates of work meetings and shit in ballpoint pen in some sad beige calendar book, then yeah, that’s no different from “just put it in your outlook calendar!” or whatever the fuck. the organizational systems used by NTs typically don’t work for us. but developing an organizational system that is unique to you and more importantly works for you is so crucial to survival for so many people.
