I've seen many people shit on the live action atla ((as we should this is such a bad adaptation and honestly a mid show in itself)) but I haven't really seen people talk stuff about Sokka and Suki

And I want to point out a couple of things that I absolutely hated about what they did to them in live action.

1. The kiss

I hate that they made them kiss at the end of the episode. I hate it so much. Like yes, in the original they both clearly had feelings for each other (especially that later Suki talks about losing sb very important to her, who we know was Sokka), but they weren't rushed like that.

In the original they both grow so much between their meetings. Sokka finally gets together with a girl (not the first girl he meets that's his age, like Suki), kisses sb for the first time, travels the world, meets new people and in general matures.

We don't know much about what Suki is doing during that time, but we know she finally does sth that helps people during war, sth that she said was important to her. She can finally put her skills in leadership to greater use and she feels great about it. She also matures during that time and we know that she still thinks about Sokka and misses him.

Them kissing immediately makes their relationship so much more bland and just... flat.

2. If they make all three seasons, we will probably not get the most iconic line of the show...

Because now Sokka's first girlfriend is technically Suki...

3. The whole scene with Suki teaching Sokka

I cannot empathise enough how important Sokka's sexism is in their relationship. It's something that Suki fixes in him, something she manages to show him... by absolutely kicking his ass. In live action... the fight scene next to those melons was a joke not a fight scene if I can be honest. Idk if it's the writing or the choreography or the actors but it looks so fake and just so bad 💀 And she attacked him while he was still "stretching"??? Suki would never.

What is this 💀💀

But the most important scene, and the one I hate the most in live action, is the one where Suki teaches him a very sacred and traditional and important to Suki and to her culture way of fighting.

In the original, Suki highlights that no man should learn their art and only after Sokka begs Suki to teach him does she agree.

But not without a very important piece that was fully missing from live action which baffles me so much.

The entire armor, the dress and make up.

Not only is it incredibly important to upholding the traditions and keeping the cultural aspect important, but the beautiful, might I add, outfit gives us the depth of Kyoshi Warriors that is just missing from the live action.

"The silk thread symbolizes the brave blood that flows through our veins. The gold insignia represents the honor of the warrior's heart."

It's beautiful. It's meaningful for both of them. It's important. And it's also a way for Suki to mess with Sokka which we love and stan.

I ALSO DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY SUKI TOOK OFF HER MAKE UP FOR THE ALMOST KISS AND THE KISS. It's not like being a Kyoshi Warrior is sth that's bothering her. NO. She's incredibly proud of it!! So. why. take. an. important. part. of. it. away. for. some. stupid. kiss.

WHY NOT GO THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION?? Instead of her taking off her make up for the romantic scene why not just... put make up on Sokka... honestly what's more romantic than putting make up on your crush.

They could have made such a beautiful and intimate scene between these two.

Them sitting in front of each other. Suki putting on Sokka's make up, while either talking about herself or about how important this whole set up is for her and her culture. I wouldn't mind it then because it would give their relationship some depth instead of "omg he's so pretty" "omg she's so pretty." *kiss*

But no. Instead they kissed right next to a group of people (including Suki's mother which just makes is so much more weird) after Suki said sth about Sokka showing her a bit of the world.

And I hate it so much.

It takes away the part where Suki teaches Sokka something very important, something that changes his personality, helps with his arc to Sokka "showing her a bit of the world". How?? With what?? It's not like he took her away from the Island itself or introduced her to his culture. No. He just... showed up and kissed her.

Great writing.

And don't get me starter on the "I'm not just a warrior. I'm a Kyoshi Warrior" line. It's a good line. It really is. But it would be better if the producers actually focused on Suki being a Kyoshi Warrior and not just a girl that has a crush on Sokka.

And while it's compared to "I'm a warrior. But I'm a girl too"... gods I... ughhhhhhh

So yeah. I hated it. I hated the show. All I have to say is:

They ruined my favourite couple. They ruined many great characters. They completely missed the point of the original story.

*big sigh* again they decided to make a Cleopatra documentary by casting a black actress instead of a Greek or at least Mediterranean.

No hate on the actress she just did her job!, it's the producers fault for deciding that they prefer skin colour diversity or ethnicity.

I am sorry...... are Mediterranean skintones something like a canvas or a "default" color to the USAmerican producers of the movie and the platform itself?? Are we a coloring book or something to them?? We are not a people but an idea or something? The mindset behind this change is disgusting! As a Macedonian Greek I feel so repulsed by how they erase us every fucking time because they refuse to do a one-minute Google search.

Did they COMPLETELY ignore how North Mediterranean people look (Cleopatra's family was North Greek) in order to give some hollow Black "representation?" Cleopatra wasn't even Black! (And we don't consider her Brown either!) If we are at a point where racebending historical figures who were most famously Not Black is widely accepted, we really need to examine how this "historical revision" is spiraling.

Next time you hear USian media "respects culture" and it's "inclusionary" please know that this is a load of bullshit. They are ignorant and entitled still, but with a performative goodness as a cover.

On what grounds do the producers and the actors feel comfortable taking representation away from Mediterraneans? A representation we need, mind you, because as it's APPARENT, people don't know how we look!

Especially USAmericans who produce worldwide media and are responsible for the image of the Greek culture and people around the world. They have no freaking idea. They don't know how to spot us or recognize us! And they still insist on racist stereotypes from the 1920s-1940s because of almost nonexistent Greek representation (and North Greek representation)!

The Tweet is made by an Egyptian btw! And Egyptians do well to speak for the USAmericanization of their culture because they are at the same boat as us Greeks when it comes to how we are perceived worldwide due to USAmerican media.

Also since there's an overlap on how Greeks and Egyptians look, it would be fine if an Egyptian or any other Mediterranean would play her honestly. But for Cleopatra, the first person you consider is a Greek woman! (North Greek woman specifically, if you want to accurately capture the mixes of that area)

The trailer is even worse because there's a Caucasian (for a lack of a better term!) Egyptian guy saying "I imagine her like me, with curly hair" while he doesn't have Black hair. Yet the documentary pretends they somehow fulfilled his wish by casting an actress who has Black hair.

Also I think we have depictions of Cleopatra so the way you imagine her, even if you are Greek or Egyptian, you need to take this into account as a guideline. "I imagine" is not how you respectfully depict historical figures!

The point is they relied on that comment to decide she must have curly = aka Black hair. Which..... is not the case. If you go around in Curly Hair circles there are different types. And Black people also know that protective styles for their hair won't protect the curly hair of Caucasian people. I knew a few North Greeks who have this type of hair - as this guy - and they are definitely not Black.

Oh, and the actress doesn't have a skin color like this guy, he is much lighter and, according to USians, he is Brown, not Black. (I hate using the terms but whatever) The actress who plays Cleopatra, Adele James, isn't even partly Egyptian or Greek from what I know?

And the fact that the documentary depicts the Ptolemys (North Greeks) and North Egyptians as Black USians (African Americans)?? The people in these lands.... don't look like this! Just GO to these places and see the people living there, SEE their ancient depictions that give us images of people in these lands thousands of years back! The fucking audacity and the outright racism to assume things about how people look just from stereotypes, and then sell that for money!

Then we have this random woman from the US... They use a quote from her "No matter what they tell you in school, Cleopatra was Black". Sure... Sure fam

How tf is it acceptable to take a shit on the effort of the Greek and Egyptian huge archaeological teams and expertise by saying "ACTUALLY, you guys don't know your own history! You are primitive and you cannot POSSIBLY have the tools or the knowledge to examine how Cleopatra looked!"

Anyways, take some faithful reconstructions of Cleopatra, based on her depictions, where she looks Mediterranean and Greek!

HELLO BELOVED CKB!! I have been restraining myself for months (hypothetical since I have no sense of time) on the topic of fictional characters that remind people of Yves. Because Oh Boy do I have a big one.

Have you seen Vil Schoenheit from Twisted Wonderland? There are so many parallels it makes me go absolutely bonkers. I might get his character wrong but oh well.

- Vil is insanely rich & a model/actor. Very influential and worked his way to that spot. His skincare and makeup routine is fucking impertinent to him; he must look flawless at all times. He makes sure that he is in prime condition and pushes to make sure that the people in his dorm are of similar regimens.

- Vil is based off of the evil queen (he’s not related to her in any sense btw.) He, by nature, is very nitpicky and motherly towards the people that he cares about even though it can be seen by them as smothering and overwhelming sometimes.

- He specializes in making potions and specifically poisons.

- Oh My God he is so mother and honestly one of my favorite characters and so is Yves which honestly says a lot about me. I need help. Canonically calls his right hand man “dear/darling.”

If I had to relate Yves to another TWST character it would be Malleus Draconia but only looks and obsessiveness and the whole “I want to be with you for eternity” thing.

Oh hell yeah i know Twisted wonderland, I follow a couple of blogs who specialized in making Yandere Fics about them, my favourite is Malleus Fuckin Draconia my man. Im pretty sure you can see my type (Long black hair, green eyes, calm, lithe and vampiric types)

I didn't know shit about twisted wonderland at first, I fr thought it was a yandere dating sim, but I had to learn everything bit by bit from the bits and bobs of canon those authors would sometimes post about, so it was like learning a language from scratch.

I was partially interested in Vil Schoenheit, but I guess most of the fics wrote him as mainly focused on his fanbase and not the reader- like he needs the world to have their eyes on him or he will throw up and die. So that kinda killed my yearning boner off for him because reader's attention is not enough and he requires love from the masses too.

Like fr i appreciate the maternalness of Vil, but it just feels... surface level since I doubt he would be interested in personally wiping reader's ass when they're incapable or cleaning up your puke on himself with a straight face without making a big deal out of it.

and IMO i think he's a little too loud, a little too naggy and his nitpicky comes from a place of self service, not really in the reader's best interest. Like Yves would listen to you and observe 100%, whereas its the other way round for Vil, where you gotta drink the yappuchino he serves. Dont come for me Vil simps i think he is swell despite this </3 I just don't think he would be the parallel of Yves </333

but for MALLEUS tho,,, mans a quiet, antisocial loner from what I saw, only yearning for the attention of the reader (or "yuu"), he's super calm, a recluse, and has like 4 friends. I have read fics that painted him in a maternal light that tickled my heartussy, and I guess thas why i like him more. Because to me, I headcannon he would take care of you himself as if you're paralyzed from the head neck down without complaints or feeling icky when he gotta handle with human bodily fluids. He would mostly listen and observe, maybe infodump about gargoyles but I think he would be a closer match to Yves than Vil in vibes and looks.

Though might wanna consider Jamil Viper from Scarabia, he hates standing out and mans was always depicted as the caretaker to Kalim. And I would like always have the biggest crush on him because,,, hehe caretaker

But he does so begrudgingly and like has a deep hatred for Kalim, I was like damn what if he loves caretaking for me,,, that isn't gonna happen because Jamil comes from a background of injustice and he isn't going to like being subjected to the role forced upon him since birth,,, aha ... unless...

and he's hella smart, but he's moving in silence just like Yves, gritting his teeth but keep on trucking no matter how angery he is. He is calm and quiet, and he listens because he need that information to succeed in his goals, but my delulu ass would be like omg he is so attentive

but theres that spite in Jamil that do be present in Yves though, ironically I would say that Yves is closer in character to Malleus and Jamil than Vil, but i could be just biased and say that because of both appearances are similar to that of Yves rn (Malleus and Jamil has like long, straightish dark hair and them sharp eyes)

William - Not my type, but I don't dislike him. He's so self-giving, and kind and very polite........and I'm a girl who likes jerks. Sometimes he can be crazy for example, in his birthday story, I was spoiled that one time, on his birthday, he asked his victim to sing him 'Happy Birthday' before killing him. I mean that's brutal but badass at the same time! When he's with Kate, so far, he's very kind, and asks her to be more open and more selfish with her desires and it's just all fine. It didn't make me go 'Awww, that's so cute!!!' or anything. It's just fine. His route is a little drag though, I won't lie.

Liam - Okay. I didn't like Liam at first. I thought his looks and his profile sounded boring (except for him being a stage actor, I LOVE IT WHEN MALE LEADS HAVE DIFFERENT JOBS!) I was scared that they were going to make him overly flirtatious....but I'm glad that he isn't. He's so cute! OH MY GOD, HE'S SO CUTE!!! His route looks fucked-up and also according to @archiveikemen she told that the story isn't an 'I can fix him' story, which I really appreciate btw! His route does have some cute moments like him acting in front of Kate to cheer her up and jumping off of roofs while carrying her in his arms...those are all so cute, and I love it!! His personality is very innocent and childlike and other members are worried about him because they don't want him to get hurt because of his curse. I love him now, he went from being my least fav character to one of my favs!!

Harry - Ofc, I love him. I find him cute! I find his lies also very cute. He's like 'I and Liam are not buddies.' and the same Harry is worried about Liam getting hurt. I love their dynamic too. Other than this I don't know too much about him because I haven't even started his route. But I love him and I find him interesting. Also his route. just from its preview looked cute and less dark, I guess? So I'm curious. And given that he's a Sherlock Holmes fan, I wouldn't be surprised if later Cybird releases a card of him and Arthur together.

Elbert - I think this guy is an idiot! lol. A funny idiot. He wants to lock Kate in his room because he thinks she's the one he is looking for...man that's so creepy and hilarious at the same time. Outside that, I think he, like William, is a kind and polite character. But I like him more than William because I feel like Elbert could be a yandere....maybe I'll be proven wrong. But he seems like he could be a Yandere character. Also, I find his ability really interesting. The other male leads have abilities that are very good for their 'Crown-related' jobs, so I'm curious how they use Elbert's ability in desperate circumstances. You can use his ability on your enemies if you want to mentally torture them.

Alphonse - For me personally, I don't care about him. I don't hate or like him. I don't even find him......interesting. He looks to be like he's hiding something and is into shady businesses and I feel like I have seen so many characters like him. I can't give any examples, it's just I 'feel' like I have seen characters like him before. He looks to be the spy of this game, but who knows? One thing I really find interesting is his ability is really fucked-up if you think about it. You can use that to literally manipulate people into showing them what YOU want to see. That can actually mess up people's minds in reality. But as a character, he's a hit or a miss for me. Let's wait of his main route.

Roger - His profile says he is egoistic but I don't find him that egoistic. When you read his bond stories, I find him really caring towards, Kate and other members of the Crown. Even when he says he uses Liam as his test subject for his 'human experiments', it doesn't seem like he's tormenting him or anything. I don't know, prove me wrong. I like him though.

Ellis - Yep! He's hot, caring, kind, funny and creepy. Yes! I find him a little creepy but I love that creepiness. His ability actually involves restraining people...................why do I feel like we might be getting 'bondage' scenes in his route? He has this certain smile that looks like he wants to tie me up at this moment and I like that smile. Towards, Kate and the others, he is very kind. All he wants is for everyone to be happy and if he finds anyone unhappy, then he will do anything to make them happy. This can be mess-up too, like in the prologue he offers to kill Kate because she looks unhappy to him. This same guy is also like 'I'll make sure you will be happy while you live with us.' Look I love creepy guys okay. I find them genuinely funny most of the times. I also love his dynamic with Jude. These two are so hilarious together. Hands down the best pair in this game! For example this one scene in William's route:

Victor: "Ellis, do you want to go on a mission with them?"

Jude: "There he goes again, using my men without my permission."

Ellis (Sad puppy dog eyes): "I don't mind, but....."

Jude: "But what?"

Ellis (Sad puppy dog eyes): "If I go, and at that time, if Jude encountered the happiest moment of his life. Then I wouldn't be able to see it."

Jude (Angry): "Tch. You, creepy bastard! I hope you go there and die."

Victor - I love Victor. He's my second fav character! I love his lively, chirpy and loud personality. It's cute. He's like a real dad! Reminds me of my own dad. Maybe that's why I like him! He's like the comic-relief character of this game. A funny guy and I like that. It's better than a cold, brooding, unapproachable character that looks cool at first but becomes boring later on. He cares for the Crown members, and also looks after them, making sure all their wishes are fulfilled. Even Kate. He makes sure that as long as she lives with the Crown, she's happy and safe. Still, I don't know much about him, but so far, I really really enjoy him whenever I interact with him.

Now, Jude - I FUCKIN LOVE THIS MAN AND THIS LOVE IS OVERFLOWING RIGHT NOW!!! I can't contain it! I love this motherfucker! He's ruthless, arrogant, swears, bullies, delinquent, kind, caring, cute, and ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!!! Just look at his smile man! It's so angelic compared to his arrogant personality. I wanna kiss this man on the lips every time I see him being kind to Kate! I wanna call him a jerk every time he bullies Kate! God! I even want to keep him to myself and never give him to anyone when he's being so FUCKIN CUTE!!! The more I learn about him, the more I love him! He's so lovely! He's absolutely lovely....there's no saving me from this jerk, guys! Even his ability is so cute. He can help me sleep! For some reason, no amount of medicine works on me! Maybe his warmth, his angelic smile, and his ability will help me!! Honestly, I cannot express my love for him completely just through words! I love him! I AM JUST HOPELESSLY IN LOVE WITH THIS GUY!!

finally reading Fifteen and not only analysis ab it on tumblr

alr, I watched those episodes a million time but a lot of things weren't clear and I don't trust bones with their light novel's adaptations. it was... the fight against Rimbaud was like longest than everything, and they cut off a lot of parts of it, but also of the interactions between skk. I understand it but it's a pity alr?

i love him. no fr dark era dazai pisses me off (try to ask me why idk, I just do), agency dazai is alright, but fifteen Dazai is my heart and soul and I love him with all my heart. stormbringer Dazai too, I just love so much how he is...

...alr I already knew like everything that was ab to happen in this, cause I watched the anime and read analysis ab the light novel on tumblr and other social, but to see it written down like this hurts. I just love the way Asagiri writes, it's so forward and simple but so enjoyable and sad I'm gonna spend all my money on his light novels

CHUUYA IS HERE CHUUYA IS HERE MY DARLING IS HERE btw Chuuya is perfect in every single era. In every panel he's in, in every light novel he's even slightly nominated, in everything. even when he has his little twenty seconds appearance, I just can't help myself. are they flirting? Yes? No? yes they are shut up (I can hear chuuya's voice actor saying that, and that intonation is like the "aww poor baby want me to pick up where he left" IT IS DON'T LIE TO YOURSELF) and reading fifteen was so beautiful cause it clashes so much with innocent/sweet potato!chuuya that a lot of people seems to love. he's just menacing and hurting and killing people every two sentences

the anime really isn't enough (here he's talking about Mori after he admits he has killed the former boss: Mori's always referred as a demon, shinigami, the evil itself- and a non-human who act as such and knows it, and the connection to what Dazai thinks about himself is making me cry)

HE JUST DIDN'T yeah he thinks shit like "he's the most vicious thing on heart" and then calls him a timid street doctor

It's so sad, and kinda beautiful too, the way he acts so freely when he's fighting anyone, and when he's with dazai. He's known him for like a day and already is more honest with him than his so called family. (chuuya beliefs about what his role is are heart shattering, and I'm gonna found another shirase hate club. he pissed me off a lot when I read stormbringer but now he really is making me rip off my hair)

dazai was manipulating all of them from the beginning, and in this scene he's also doing everything only to make the Sheeps betray Chuuya, but I don't think this was necessary (the "is that not enough/he's your friend"). he definitely knew that they wouldn't have understood and ignore that and straight up leave Chuuya behind, but he said that for a reason, like he was testing them- and chuuya. he said it was fun to mess up with him- and chuuya sees his family refusing to trust him and a guy he hates understanding him better than them, and I guess it doesn't feel good

he's actually being genuine!? he already is a bastard manipulator, but I like to think that 15!dazai was more honest and childish. not really was, more act, tried to impersonate that part of him.

this is Dazai, at the idea of pranking Chuuya by making him fall in a pool of mud and pour flour over him

that's dazai right after he killed the GSS man from the oh so famous clip where he shoot him like five times. and this is dazai around chuuya, in the like two days the got to know each other. is the opposite thing. he laughs, he smiles, he fucking flushes at the idea of making fun of him.

this is hilarious. asagiri actually is a comedy master. I laughed. and I'm not ashamed.

gay behaviour. homosexual tendencies. romantic tension. he had to fight himself not to blush (not really but inwardly awkward 15!dazai is my life)

"do you trust me?" it's their line, and theirs only. like even if you don't want to see them as a romantic couple, the trust they have in each other is so beautiful. everybody always talks about chuuya trusting dazai with corruption, but dazai's survival in dead apple was assured by chuuya himself, so our guy just put (another time, remember the hostage situations) his life in chuuya's hands trusting him? trust is their thing, and you people saying that it wasnt the same after dazai's deflection, fuck no. they were the same, with the rich-girl-act that really was the "are we alright?" silent question, and the we-are-partners-even-tho-i-said-ex

CHUUYA'S LAUGHING AT DAZAI'S DOG JOKE CAUSE HE ALSO ADMITS THAT HE WANTS TO LIVE he's so precious and even tho I'm the number one fan of dazai-fell-first-and-harder I love Chuuya starting to care, starting to get used to dazai.

and more of this. asagiri is screaming at us that chuuya basically saved dazai. or at least, he made the life mori constricted him to carry on more enjoyable (in the anime they switched the sentences, chuuya saying "don't tell me what to do" but this is actually better)

I love rimbaud, my bby is doing all of this to know what happened to verlaine and it's so cute (the fact that they completely cut off verlain's name and just left the "I killed him with my own hands" says a lot ab bones future plans ab stormbringer and asagiri introducing him in the central plot. it's not gonna happen guys or the anime only are gonna get their brains blown up)

chuuya struggling with his humanity since he was able to understand the concept itself is canon, and I wanna die

"if they were with eachother they didn't have anything to fear" and it's the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. verlaine and rimbaud were the original soukoku. fuck zskk, we hate mori and we love the cold man and his made-in-a-laboratory boyfriend (they had a (fr terrible) relationship in real life, so asagiri is telling us something. that they're just canon)

It's so old, but my Vampire!Eddie Boyfriend headcanons. Looking back it could do with a lot of editing, but the idea that Eddie was actually turned into a vampire because of the bat bites was brilliant (credit to whoever came up with that first).

A character who is perfect to me (wouldn't change a thing)

I got TWO, season 1-3 Hopper, because I really loved his whole punch first ask questions later. And his weight, I loved his weight. I think his weightloss in season 4 wasn't just for Stranger Things, I think he genuinely wanted to be skinnier. Which ... I mean his body his rules, but I loved him more when he was heavier tbh.

And OBVIOUSLY EDDIE. HOW DID THEY COME UP WITH THE PERFECT CHARACTER?! They could have made him a one, maybe even two sided drug dealer who couldn't graduate high school. But no, he has so much heart and SOFTNESS. I actually fell in love with him after the cafeteria scene, when he was with Chrissy. He just became this caring, open, kind guy who also had a LUNCHBOX full of fcking DRUGS.

The character I relate to the most and why

You already hate me by now because I've spoken about Eddie so much, but yeah ... Eddie. It's one of the reasons why he's so well-loved. The outsider, the one everyone thinks is weird - I think all can relate on one level or another. Especially growing up ... not so well off. Seeing Eddie live in a trailer but he's still so popular; it gives a lot of gratification (if that's the right word?)

Mr Wheeler - he is literally such a shITTY DAD. WTF. In his daily life he doesn't care about his family, or show any interest in them.

STEVE'S PARENTS - WHERE ARE THEY? WHAT ARE THEY DOING? I mean they could be travelling for work but that's still neglect.

Billy - if he wasn't a good looking character no one would like him. In the original script he was actually supposed to called Lucas the n-word because he's racist. And in the scenes with Lucas, there are underlying motifs that show his racism. So, yeah, I hate racists.

You know that moodboard you reblogged of Merlin and Morgana not being able to sleep? You know what occurred to me?

I'm thinking of season 3. These two with their love/hate thing and UST going on and their fights about evil plans, and you know... What if in one of those heating discussions, Morgana accidentally blurts out that she felt something and a lot of things for Merlin before the poisoning fiasco and then Merlin admitting the same.

And like both are in their minds... 😳 Oh, crap, what did I just said? So, both flee from each other, because this isn't good at all and neither can now sleep because of the whole situation. 😂😂

I think morgana has been honest enough even in s3 though (heck through s4-s5). Merlin is the more guarded one.

Based on Colin Morgan’s interpretation in many interviews, Merlin was the one who was self-aware enough that he loved her and deeply cared for her at some point. The show confirms that sort of acting decision coz he’s also always revealing his true feelings for her in front of kilgharrah and gaius. (plus the other character/actors have talked about it)

Meanwhile Katie Mcgrath doesn’t characterize Morgana in that way: that Morgana was self-aware enough that she loved him. I am of the opinion that Morgana was still on her way to falling in love with him when Fires of IDirsholas happened. All we know is that she deeply feels for him to the point where even Morgause didn't seem to know the whole depth of her feelings. KM insists that Morgana only wanted Merlin’s honesty and trust. We can see it In the show. Morgana had always told Merlin what she felt about him.

So if there was one who should admit their feelings then it should be Merlin.

Morgana already laid out everything she felt for him from S1-S3: “you are the actual hero here!” “I am your friend” "i don't feel so alone here," "i trust merlin” "you’re a good friend” “i have magic, merlin” “I now know what i am”. “i am afraid merlin” “i get that you only wanted to protect your friends” “i am upset that i was poisoned and you hurt me” “why should i care about people who dont care about me?” “Uther hates me and everyone like me” “you dont know how it is be be an outsider” “i thought we were friends then why are you against me if you understand me like what you claimed” “how can you hope to understand” “i dont really get you.” “Make me understand, merlin” "you're just a pathetic lowly serving boy to me," "you're a thorn in my side," "you condemned me to live in this poor state."

Meanwhile merlin is always like "i care for her", "i trust her," "she should be told that magic can be a force for good and it can be a gift" "she has a good heart," "she’s my friend," "i know her," "i feel sad for her," "she’s undergoing a hard time," "i understand her most of all," "i shouldnt have trusted her," "i dont wanna be bitter, angry and so full of hate like her," "i will never be like her," "i thought we were the same”

---but he says these only To the dragon and Gaius.

See how they contrast? With regards to to his feelings for Morgana, Merlin is only honest to his bosses, meanwhile Morgana is honest of her feelings for Merlin towards Merlin himself.

Merlin and Morgana were never meeting/fighting on the same ground.

It's honestly heartbreaking, especially since Merlin never holds back on saying the same wonderful words of affirmation to Arthur, to Gwen, to the Knights, to Freya, to literally everybody else.. but he could never say them to Morgana's face.

btw saying only "i understand" and not much else sometimes isn't enough anymore.

I honestly do not know what else Morgana could say that will push Merlin to honesty. I think she might as well strip herself naked and he still wouldn't give in (and s4 showed us that he can and will use that kind of weakness against her. he already used her nightmares against her after all).

All I’m saying is that Morgana had always been so so so vulnerable and raw in front of him. Normally that would give an opening to the other person to let down their guard and rely on her. (see agravaine, helios, aithusa, mordred)

But Merlin never did that. He had so many chances to tell her the truth and be vulnerable himself but he never allowed himself that kind of right in front of her. We know that he desperately wanted to but he couldn't because had been repeatedly and ceaselessly warned/conditioned/brainwashed/manipulated that it was the worst idea, that going against his job orders will have consequences.

But as they are in s3? where they are just free to pursue whatever goals they have independent of each other... with how radicalized and extremist they both already are? With how Merlin has already lost at least 4 loved ones for the sake of protecting camelot and destiny (sunken cost fallacy and all that)? nah. I can't see him being honest to anyone, especially enemies who have done and said things he morally detests, anymore.

Personally i think the only way for merlin to finally tell her his truth is to trap both them in some situation where they have to work together, or where morgana’s magic isnt enough , or where they both have no magic, or where the have joint responsibility of another life. THEY HAVE TO BE TRAPPED. TRAP THEM TOGETHER.

If you're opening your movie with a white saviour trope I just ain't gonna be with it. I know srk isn't white so that trope name doesn't apply but that trope DOES apply.

Oh, these mountainside village folk take care of this strange man who washed ashore? And we see in detail the homeopathic treatment he's getting from a literal staff bearing village elder to treat his wounds? And then we cut to 3 months later without any development or anything as to who these villagers are? and then suddenly there's a carnival of violence committed against these villagers (who btw look ethnically nothing like the prominent characters in the movie.)?

And then we see the village elder praying to his deity statue and we get the tried and tested Indian movie trope of 'Won't you send anyone, anyone to save us dear god' and it cuts to SRK's hands twitching. and then he stands high up on a rock and his silhouette looks like the deity the village elder was praying to. And then I literally skipped past 2 minutes of the action scene following this as he kills all the unnamed randos who were murdering these villagers.

Like... Hey. Movie. Is it ok if I call you movie? You set the tone, you set what your vibe is, you set everything up to be exactly what I do not gel with. But you're also a mass masala flick by Atlee. I understand that. That's your identity. So I have to, despite myself, turn part of my mind off and then watch as you play up your 'messages' to the audience.

But like I'm already rolling my eyes at your opening so I know for sure it'll take a lot for me to take you at anything other than face value. And like I get it. Maybe you don't want to be taken more than at face value. But I'm me. I'm a guy who wants to have a good time. oh BOY do i have a long winded explanation for you...

I don't really feel like Daniel Frederick really fits her?

Not just him being a cis (most likely straight) dude, there's just more factors that just don't feel right.

From what I understand (from watching the director's commentary in the first episode), they watched the episode subbed then built their performance off of that. I remember Brina Palencia (Ciel's VA) talking about how hard the Japanese VA goes with her lines. Which means, wouldn't Daniel at least... attempt to feminize his voice? Jun was obviously speaking in a much more fem tone but Daniel just was making her sound more of a caricature of a British person. His voice felt like it'd fit best in a parody and not a serious product. To ME at least.

Another thing is that I really do think he has the right energy but just not the right performance and carrying of his voice. I remember when another friend of mine was sitting through the anime, they told me how Grelle kind of has the same kind of voice as the Medic from TF2 (which is so funny btw) but honestly? After multiple rewatches, I can definitely hear what he was hearing and it just... does not fit her at all.

The last thing is that Daniel is just so underwhelming put next to other voice actors. Famously, this is his only role and it's something that, even in the 2010s, people weren't shutting up about. It sounds impressive until you get to Book of Atlantic and hear how seasoned Michael and Brina are compared to Daniel. PERSONALLY, I don't really think his performance really is all that great when put next to them. I know some people like it but ehhh, it's just not really for me.

And also, my personal conspiracy theory! I kind of believe that her lines were done in one or two takes and not several. This isn't really helped by the voice cracks and other things that would've been smoothed out with a second take. Something weird I've never heard anyone talk about is a moment in the Reaper OVA where Daniel repeats the line "Me? Mistaken?" in the exact same tone. It just doesn't seem like something that would be included or it would at least have a second take because of the nature of the line. But again, this is just my tin-foil hate conspiracy theory. I could be completely wrong.

Pretty much, I don't like his performance for a lot of reasons but I really wish I could. I feel it fits for when the show was more of a comedy but falls really flat when it's supposed to be taken seriously. No hate to anyone who likes his performance but it's just my personal take on his performance!

Let's talk about entitlement

A couple of weeks ago I discovered that a voice actor from my country, an incredibly popular figure that is known for voicing super big roles such as Superman, Samurai Jack, Optimus Prime, Coop from Megas XLR (my favorite dub from the dude btw, he absolutely kills it!), and also acting as the voice for many popular actors such as Jim Carrey, was cast to play the role of Future Devil in the Brazillian dub of Chainsaw Man.

Now... I myself have not watched anything dubbed in my home country in eons, in fact, the Puss in Boots 2 movie was the first time in a while where I saw any form of media dubbed with Brazillian voice actors, if only because I wanted to see this thing as soon as possible so I just rushed to the nearest cinema I could find, and sadly Brazillian cinema doesn't show animated movies in their original dub...

So anyway, I wasn't exactly going "OMG!! Superman is gonna voice the "the future rules!" guy!!!" or anything like that. I was mostly just going "Oh, neat!", but after watching Puss I was kinda curious to find out how the whole Brazilian Future Devil thing went and... Ugh...

Apparently, the voice actor got a lot of hate on Twitter because they didn't adapt the line from the manga in the same way it was done by the fan translations... I repeat, people got angry at the actor because the line was different from the FAN TRANSLATIONS! And he received so much backlash from the watchers that he decided to drop out of the show and thus won't be returning for a future season.

Cool...

So... Let's talk about entitlement a little bit

Let's just assume for a moment that there is a girl you really, really like (I'm using "girl" but just replace it with whatever works for you), but she couldn't care less about you, so you try to make yourself look better, more desirable, more "worthy" of her by, let's say... Having a very well-paid job, or being someone who donates a lot to charity, or paying for the surgery of her grandma, or finding the cure for cancer, or ending world hunger... Let's just assume you did everything you could to be considered the most perfect person ever...

You're still not entitled to that girl's affection, appreciation, or even attention if she doesn't want to give you that.

Entitlement is the mentality of "I earned this, so I deserved it!"

But the fact of the matter is, unless you're paying someone for a job, and they agree to it, nobody really owes you anything.

(Although I guess one could argue that you're also owed your parents' support in order to survive since they're the reason you're here at all but... I'm not sure I have enough knowledge to talk about this so casually.)

But long story short, entitlement is this idea that you should have things done in the way you want them to be, just because you convinced yourself that this is how it should be.

I mentioned before in my Makima post that I really don't like this mentality because it works to make people think they have power over something they have nothing to do with.

This happens a lot with fanbases. Sonic, Kingdom Hearts, Chainsaw Man, Star wars... There are so many pieces of media where the public will go "this isn't how I wanted" or even worse "this isn't how it is supposed to go!" as if they were the creators or something.

They use arguments like "I complain because I care!" but in reality, it isn't about caring. This isn't about displaying your love for an IP you care about, it's about you not being able to handle a reality different from what you wanted.

It's basically the premise of the movie "Misery" where this one fan wants to act like she knows the story better than the actual author.

Now... Thinking that you deserve something even though there is nothing that says you technically do aside from your own belief is already bad enough, but it gets even worse when people use it as an excuse to act violently.

Harassing a voice actor and making him give up on his job just because a line was changed is just beyond silly. It's not the fans' duty to tell how a story should be told, same way it isn't right for fans to harass an actor just because they played an unpopular character in a live-action performance like it Happened with Rose in Star Wars, or telling someone they should kill themselves just because they made a joke about an infamous ship in Chainsawman.

It's even weirder in Chainsawman's case because part 2 literally starts with someone getting so much harassment by their classmates that it makes her want to die, which just makes me wonder if people are even trying to pick the messages of the story they are consuming.

Bottom line, entitlement is ugly. It is in my opinion THE ugliest mindset anyone could have.

It makes people perform actions out of selfishness, arrogance, anger, and it only works to spread pain and misery. It makes you look at other people as objects that only exist to satisfy your desires and makes you forget they have feelings and that they can get hurt, all because they happen to want to do something you disagree with.

If someone writes a story in a way you don't like it, you're not entitled to attack that writer. If someone performs the role of a character in a way you don't like it, you're not entitled to attack that actor. And if someone has an opinion about a piece of media that you disagree with, you're not entitled to attack that commenter.

You NEVER have a reason to attack anyone. Trying to put others down just to make yourself look big, ironically, doesn't make you look big! It just makes it look like you don't have enough faith in what you stand for and are too afraid that someone might prove you wrong.

Entitlement and aggressiveness are huge symbols of insecurity, cowardice, and immaturity, because people who truly believe in what they believe in, don't resort to harassment so fast just because a different point of view showed up.

We only attack when we feel threatened, when we feel someone is trying to hurt us or trying to take something important from us.

Attacking should only be reserved for self-defense, or the defense of someone who can't defend themselves (and even then I feel like there is a whole other grey area of debate on how to know who needs and should be defended and from whom, which I really don't feel I have the skills or maturity to properly talk about myself).

A random line on a fan translation of a popular manga that got changed when the official dub came out... Is just not a good enough reason to feel threatened, and not a good enough reason to attack someone, even if it's just an online attack.

We all know the line, "If you have nothing good to say, don't say anything!"

Unless someone is asking for your opinion, unless someone is paying you to speak and make a criticism or provide some sort of honest feedback, or unless you're being harassed first, you are NEVER entitled to use your words or body to try to harm someone!

You are free to live your life in any possible way you want, as long as no one is getting hurt from it.

I am not a psychologist, or psychiatrist, or a psychic, or any form of expert in the field of the human mind.

These are just my casual thoughts about a... Not so casual topic, but I feel it's important to be talked about nonetheless because I feel not many people seem to realize how big of a problem entitlement really is, and how it seems to be getting worse as the years go by as the media and internet keeps making us feel like we have more power over other people's lives than we actually have.

Just... Try to think twice before you get that sudden urge to want to complain about the way something is or how someone is acting just because you don't agree with it. Think a little about who might be getting hurt from it and if it's truly worth it getting so upset about it.

Wench: Also, there's some serious Logan development starting in this episode, so it's pretty significant that this is her reaction to an episode about him going through seriously hard times.  And he's definitely got issues but a) they haven't developed those yet, and mostly won't until s2, largely because I'm pretty sure they were developed in response to Weatherly's actions during the filming of s2 and less about his actions during the filming of s1; and b) it's funny to me because his flaws in s2 are basicallyyyy what she's doing in this ep

Wench: And she's sitting there with her moralistic view --- "you're a person not a soldier; how can you possibly go to Manticore when they're manipulating and controlling you; you're such a pawn and need to learn to think for yourself; Manticore is wrong" etc --- and he's coming back with "it's easy for you to say that, but you left, you don't know what it was like, and you don't know what it's like to not have the luxury of morals when we're just trying to get by."  She's paying more attention here, but that's only because Jace is an X5 from her unit; she doesn't afford the same consideration in s2.

Wench: And it's also interesting because both Jace and Alec are talking about the dirtiness of the world, the crudity of it as opposed to Manticore's sterility... and it's kinda interesting to see that it's clearly part of their programming to think that way because this is across seasons, across units, and yet it's the same thought, and almost the same wording.  He says "You spent half your life out there in filth and degradation. I could catch something." instead, but it's the same thought as the quote I pulled out earlier

love in contract (ep. 9): as we say in italy, this is just fried air. i feel like every episode progressively gets worse, but not even in a "this show is Bad" way, it's just sooo mediocre. to me. mediocre premises, mediocre characters, mediocre plots, mediocre love triangle that i hoped we had left back in 2017. every episode i feel like nothing happens at all and I can't wait for it to end and i think the reason i didn't drop it yet is bc it's the only show that isn't on fri/sat/sun. and tbh things do happen, the problem is that they're all things you could've guessed from the third episode and they're just. not up to the quality of the type of drama it wants so badly to be. djjdjdjd wow sorry i don't even hate it but it's just sooo mediocre.

one dollar lawyer (ep.8): my bestie <33 love this show wow. they had a bit of a too long and emotional heavy two-episodes backstory that could've have been maybe managed differently but i get why it was necessary and now we're back to the silly antics soo I can't wait to see the new episodes!! it's genuinely so funny and it even made me think the courtroom scenes were soo fun to watch. made me think of while you were sleeping, which i loved watching so 🙏 that's high praise hfhdjdh

the golden spoon (ep.5): wow i'm three episodes behind on this helppp i do enjoy watching it (even though it has its flaws) but i never feel like starting an episode. helppp it feels like a chore even though i want to catch up. so uhm sjhdhdhdh but anyway i think this is very korean in themes, I don't think this story could work in any other context quite as well. and i also like how sungjae character is an interesting protagonist, as in, interesting how his character is, considering the usual role of a protagonist and its relationship with the viewer (that makes sense to me sorry). but in contrast I don't quite like how they didn't give the same treatment to yeojin as a villain 🤥 but maybe it's too early to talk (i hope)

gaus electronics (ep. 6): soooo silly djjdjd <3 the comedy is so slapstick and i think sometimes it could be finer, to be funnier. like for my tastes, it doesn't make me laugh out loud the whole episode, but i AM entertained for a good portion of it so 😌👍 also better kiss scene than most romantic dramas rn like 🙏😳🙌 and the 45 min format is really fitting

under the queen's umbrella (ep.2): this just started so 👁️ but i missed watching a period drama so much sooo i want to enjoy it fjjfjf gye seong must be protected at all costs 😭 btw actually surprised they went there! like i called it, at the end of first episode, but still ! i hope they're respectful and treat it with dignity and respect and the preview of next ep it looks like it but i'm still scared a bit 🤥 anyway why did i think it was a comedy when I start it fjfjfj also chani mean girl slay

may i help you (ep.2): the happines-park-hyungsik-ification of lee junyoung.... 😳😌🙌☺️🙏😼😖 sooo glad to see him act with hyeri, and it looks like a good one?? i'm shook. the start was a bit confusing but I think it was intentional, and i was then pretty neutral about the show but in the second episode there's a scene that is just soooo cute and made me think. oh this is good i enjoy this ! junyoung comedy king tbh. ALSO interesting how kdramaa usually like to have older actors with younger actresses, while he's often paired with older actresses à la lee jaewook 👁️ they do have the same charm i think... tbh while watching alchemy of souls i did think junyoung could do that role too so fjfhjfjf (love jaewook btw no hate 😭) OH ALSO it's so funny always to me to see how different catholicism is in korea from here lmaoo and i guess I don't really get how it ties in with the supernatural aspect of this show, that part leaves me a bit 🤔 but it's probably also too soon so we'll have to see
