Joshua wasn't sure how much more he would take.

From the moment he had seen his best friend walk into the room with you by his side, he knew he was done for.

Granted, that had been the first time he had ever met Jeonghan's girlfriend, but all it had taken was one simple look for his ability to reason to completely leave him.

He wasn't sure what it had been. Maybe it was the confident grin on your face (one matching with that of Jeonghan's), or maybe the pretty dress you were wearing. Perhaps it was how affectionate you seemed towards Jeonghan (a trait that always drew Joshua to women). Or maybe it was just a bit of everything. He hadn't needed to get to know you, or even hear the sound of your voice before deciding he was infatuated by you. You were just his type.

His belief of you being tailored specifically for his liking was further confirmed upon Jeonghan's introduction of the two of you. Your personality just went with Joshua's perfectly. The two of you even shared a myriad of common interests, with the main one sadly being Jeonghan. Amidst his interest in you, Joshua had to keep it clear in his mind that you were spoken for. You were Jeonghan's, and that was something he just needed to respect.

Despite that having been your first meeting, Joshua had been made aware of your existence months in advance. It had been during a period of time when Joshua was away for individual promotions that you and Jeonghan had first met and eventually started dating. Joshua heard a lot about you through the phone and through text, but had been the last member to actually meet you. From Jeonghan's multiple accounts, you seemed like the perfect match for his unpredictable and slick-tongued friend. Upon meeting you, this description was thoroughly confirmed. Not only did your angelic appearance match that of Jeonghan's, but your peculiar personality was almost the same as his best freind's (and his too). You truly checked all boxes for the perfect partner for Jeonghan, and unfortunately, for Joshua too.

Now, it all could've been perfect had his pesky feelings not gotten in the way. What he had at first assumed to be simple physical infatuation was later confirmed to be actual emotional feelings. The more the got to know you, the more he liked you. And sadly for Joshua, he spent way more time with you than he would've liked.

Jeonghan was truly a family man in every sense of the word. There was nothing he loved and valued more than his family, as they were his drive in life. To him, family meant anyone he held close in his heart; meaning his actual family, you, and his members. Since Joshua had officially taken the role of Jeonghan's best friend many years ago, it was just common sense to assume that Jeonghan would pair the two of you up quite often in order to hang out with two of his favorite people. However, there were times in which it got a bit ridiculous.

For instance, a few weeks back when there had not been enough space in the car driving you to the airport and Jeonghan suggested you sit on Joshua's lap, saying something about how he was too weak to take any amount of weight on his lap for such an extended period of time. Now, that had to be out of the ordinary for a guy to do with his friend and girlfriend, right? Having your best friend hold your girl so close to him – on his lap – while she bounced every so often due to the commotion of the vehicle? That had to be considered at least eighty types of strange. Not only was it torture for Joshua to become overly familiar with the floral scent coming from your pretty hair pressed against his torso (how in the hell did you know what his favorite scent was?), but the feeling of having you snuggly in his arms also didn't help.

Another instance had been one in which the three of you went out while Seventeen was touring in Japan. It had all been fine and dandy until he'd noticed the necklace you were wearing. It was matching with the one Jeonghan had given him a few weeks prior, except he had told Joshua it was meant to be a friendship necklace. Looking over at Jeonghan, he realized there was no necklace on his neck. Had he bought the three of you matching necklaces but forgotten to wear his own? Joshua could've believed this thought, except this had not been the first time Jeonghan had 'forgotten' something like this. Just a few weeks back he had realized your phone case was matching yet another one of Jeonghan's identical gifts to him, all while Jeonghan had his usual phone case. When questioned about it, Jeonghan simply shrugged and claimed he forgot, insisting in getting a picture of you and Joshua with your matching items while you coo'd at the cute 'coincidence'.

However, these simple mismatches were not the worst of it, no. The worst of it had come in the form of his very affectionate friend translating his own affections towards you and Joshua. Instead of him being the one sharing his affections, he would often decide that he wanted the two of you to be touchy with one another. Joshua wasn't sure how he fell for it every single time. His friend would be cuddling you on the couch while Joshua unsuspectedly watched a movie with the two of you, only to find himself pressed up against you two by the end of the night. Jeonghan was a sneaky and calculated man. If he wanted you and Joshua cuddling, then he would get it without even having to ask. In other instances, he would somehow manage to get the three of you holding hands as you strutted about on the streets of whichever city you were located in at the moment (Did he mention that Jeonghan also liked to take you on tour with them?), with you always being in the middle of the two.

What Joshua didn't understand was why exactly Jeonghan was so willing to share you with him. Granted, none of your interactions were impure by any means, but they were always just a little too much. Joshua had only known you for a few months, and although he was your friend, he found himself being way more physically affectionate with you than he was with any other friends of his (sans his members, of course). Except it all felt natural to him. Jeonghan had somehow managed to condition both you and Joshua to feel extreme comfort around each other; enough to never question Jeonghan's antics when it involved the two of you.

You certainly never seemed to mind Joshua constantly third wheeling you and your boyfriend. At times, Joshua even felt like you were the one who wanted him around. You'd constantly throw him flirty smiles (or at least that's what he liked to believe), you'd never hesitate to engage in whatever antics Jeonghan pulled you into (whether it was a matching hoodie that Jeonghan seemingly forgot to wear yet again or hand holding across the streets of Japan), you'd excitedly text the groupchat Jeonghan had made.

All signs pointed towards you being completely content with the situation. This was yet another part of your dynamic with his best friend that made his brain beat at itself looking for answers. Did the two of you know about his feelings? Was this just an overly dragged-out ruse fabricated by Jeonghan in order to prank him? He knew his friend to be a bit of a weirdo when it came to his shenanigans (it was part of his charm, truly), but he also knew he'd never outwardly try and humiliate Joshua like that, so it was very unlikely that this whole thing had begun with that intention. Maybe his best friend simply adored being with both you and him, making him always pair you up to maximize the time he spent with the two of you. That's what Joshua decided to go with, at least. His only issue was that he was unsure of how long he could keep his feelings for you at bay, specially with the constant proximity between you and him.

“Who the hell are you assholes?”

Five was used to expecting the unexpected. His whole life it felt like there was never any set reason for anything. Things just happened, and he had learned to not question them.

But this?

He had some questions here.

“Yeah,” Another voice chimed in. “Dad, who are these people?”

Five’s siblings seem just as shocked as he was.

“They claim to be my spawn,” Reggie spoke.

Allison turns around with a confused expression. “Claim? Okay, Five, what the hell is going on?”

Five shrugs. “I don’t know yet, but it’s concerning.” He wasn’t even sure what Allison or Reginald had said. All he could see was you.

You and Ben stood side by side, arms crossed as you stared at the six intruders. One of them with long hair steps forward, trying to hug Ben, and he punches him across the face. The six intruders begin yelling at you and your siblings, and you just roll your eyes. Who the hell did they think they were? Walking into your home and claiming it was theirs. They were deranged, and you were going to figure out why. You look to Ben with a raised brow, and he nods at you.

You step forward, stretching your conscience forward, and into the mind of the man in the hat. As soon as you enter, it’s loud. Things are hitting you in every direction, and you try to push your way through. You try to sort through the chaos, but it’s a jumble of things. Drugs, alcohol, war, the 60s… is that a cult?

You retract after that, stumbling back and shaking your head. The six intruders were siblings, just like you with special abilities, and they were called the Umbrella Academy. And they had time traveled — twice. Marcus shouting brings you back to the issue at hand.

The big blond one tries to reason with your brother, but he punches him straight into the man with a hat. You roll your shoulders back, preparing for a fight when you catch the eyes of the youngest boy. The intensity of his gaze makes you shiver. It was like he was staring right through your soul. You glare at him, throwing up your middle finger before Ben takes care of him.

“Can you stop staring at my sister?” He scoffs, punching the boy in the face. “Pervert.”

You stand back and let the two brooding males fight each other off. You’re shocked by the boy's power. He was good, teleporting across the room and getting the last hit on Ben before he vanishes again. You shrug, walking upstairs only to find him again.

You tilt your head as he whispers something to his sister, and she runs off.

“Ben’s right,” You said. “This whole stare thing is weird.”

Five rolls his eyes, but his cheeks are dusted red out of embarrassment. “Whatever.”

You raise a brow at him. “Are you gonna hit me or?”

“What? No. Why would I—”

He’s cut off when you punch him across the jaw, and he falls to the floor. He clutches the area, offering you a pained look. But not physical pain, it’s emotional. He lays there, staring at you with the same look in your eyes. It's really starting to creep you out. He obviously knows something you don’t, and you were going to find out. You close your eyes and let your conscience fall into his. There’s one clear memory that stands out to you.

Five grabs the gun from the Handler, but not before a single shot rings out. He doesn’t notice at first because soon enough, she’s dead on the ground, and he thinks, ‘thank god.’

“Five!” Allison screams. The boy turns around at the mention of his name and his heart drops.

A girl was on the ground, blood pooling from her chest as she takes ragged breaths. Five drops to his knees next to her, placing her head in his lap, hands shaking.

“Hey, hey, it’s okay,” Five whispered.

She blinks slowly. “Five?”

“I’m right here,” He assures.

“I don’t wanna die,” She said through a sob.

He pushes a piece of hair behind her ear, trying to stay strong. “No, don’t say that. You’re not gonna die.”

“Please, please, don’t let me die, Five,” The girl begged, squeezing her eyes shut.

Five places a hand on her cheek, trying to shake her awake. Tears fall from his eyes as he holds her. He was making promises he couldn’t keep. She was dying, and there was nothing he could do but try to comfort her. “Listen to me. You’re gonna be fine, (Y/N). I promise.”

Her lip trembles as dark spots cloud her vision. “I love you, Five.”

Something snaps inside of Five, and he taps her cheek lightly. “(Y/N),” Five said through a panic. “I love you too, (Y/N). Hey, hey, wake up!”

The girl's eyes stayed shut, and Five doubles over, sobbing. She remained limp in his arms, and even though Five knew she wasn’t going to make it, a part of him still hoped. But that hope was gone. She was dead in his arms.

Her bright eyes would never open again. He would never get to hear her say his name again.

She was gone.

And all it took was a minute.

“I—,” You breathe out, stumbling back. Five’s emotions were intense, similar to ocean waves crashing over you. You could feel his pain and the look he gave you made sense. It hadn’t even been a day.

Five gulps, standing back up.

You’re not sure what to say. You don’t even know where to start. How is it that you died? That this boy knew you when you had no recollection of him? You loved him, and yet you didn’t even know his name. Well, before invading his mind.

Five’s closer to you now. His eyes are searching yours for something you’re not sure you can give him.

“I’m not her,” You said softly. “I don’t know you.”

Five nods. “But I do.”

You scoff, stepping back. “So? We’re not the same person.”

“How do you know that?” Five presses, stepping forward.

He’s right. You don’t know for certain that you weren’t that girl. You had different memories, and different circumstances but are you not the same person? You had the same smile, the same crude humor, and love for your family.

He takes another step forward, his hand touching your arm. Your breath feels caught in your throat as you gaze into his eyes. They held so much love for someone he didn’t ‘know.’ There was so much adoration in them as they glossed over.

“You look just like her,” He whispered.

You blink, trying not to squirm under the intensity of his gaze. His evergreen eyes trace all the features of your face, and you feel small under it.

“I’m sorry,” You said. “But you have to go.”

“What?”

You back away from him, grabbing his arm and dragging him towards an exit. “You have to go, now.”

“(Y/N)—”

You hear Ben screaming your name, and you turn around to see one of his tentacles and turn back to Five. “Please, just go.”

You can see the hurt in the boy’s eyes, and you sigh. In one quick motion, you press a kiss to his cheek. “I’ll find you again, okay?”

Five’s eyes are wide, but then his face hardens with determination, and he disappears in a flash of blue just as Ben finds you.

“You okay, sis?”

You turn around, slamming the door. “Little shit jumped away.”

“Don’t worry,” Ben assures. “We’ll get them soon enough.”

You offer him a grin, but deep down, you know you weren’t going to let that happen.

Sagau Brainrot: Reader having the same abilities as Nakajima Atsushi from Bungou Stray Dogs

Heyo its been a while

Its 2am in the night time but i was lucky to finish this yet i am very tired especially i just finished midterms and still have to make 7 assignments due next week ugh DX

Anyways please enjoy this brainrot that I tried my best to expand it 😭 I'll work on my other brainrots soon and my story as well when i have the time but currently im very packed this month ugh TwT

So like I haven't watched Bungou stray dogs in long time and im avoiding Season 4 due to the fact i have already read the manga and knows that Season 4 is the darkest arc including i guess there is a chance season 5 will also be dark if i remember the manga correctly 🤔

Have I read the Beast AU or read it?

My personal reason is that i was able to get a summary out of it and since that summary made me cry and learn what happened to Beast Dazai I cried the fact i loved him so much and that au was painful 😭😭

But anyways this is my personal opinion however if you want to read Beast AU Bungou Stray dogs I recommend that you guys prepare tissues cause the angst of that au is very sad but if you able to handle then props to you UwU but i can say is that the au is very interesting and I don't mind you guys reading it UwU However you must read the Original Bungou Stray Dogs since Beast Au is the parallel universe of it. The manga is currently still on going but the Anime is out by 3 seasons and season 4 currently coming out soon.

So this won't have the creator au thing this time unfortunately but it is more like I want to go back to the original concept of what sagau a.k.a self-aware as I am referring to the self-aware au were no god reader but just a regular reader who plays the game and is not aware the charas are self-aware and they are all fond with her whether it is platonic, romantic, possessive or obsessed with her.

As I mentioned reader has the abilities of Atsushi from Bungou stray dogs and has the same past as him however it's a bit different for the reader as her past is something I came up a bit sad about but not something excruciating to add since we all know how Atsushi's past is like especially you can see the worst of it in the manga 😭

Beast Beneath the Moonlight will not be an ability since the reader is not from the BSD world but this ability is something like a curse that the reader has to go through in tough times and has resented having it because if she wasn't born with it then she would have never been given up by her parents to the orphanage or thrown to such pain of being thrown back to the orphanages after all her previous foster parents deemed her a "Freak" or "Monster" and so on but they very physically hurt her since the reader was a very like a normal kid a first glance only these parents got the taste of fear seeing her curse.

Luckily around the age of 12, she finally got herself adopted by a person who is a writer and was one of the people who was like her, having a strange curse or rather an ability. It took time for the reader to get used to her new father and slowly trust him as he did not even react badly to seeing her transformation except he decided to help with her powers. There are endless possibilities about how Reader will appear in Genshin and I had to revise this many times LMAO

So like I decided she has been in the wilderness for like a week and there have been rumors spreading to all Teyvat of a strange dangerous Beast that usually prowls or appears at night time either running around or scaring away Treasure hoarders and sometimes the Fatui. And I guess it is up to you guys who would find her first OwO!

I feel like everyone would be fascinated with Reader’s transformation and I am sure there have been times reader suddenly gets cats attracted to them causing poor Venti to sneeze so much due to how many cats are near reader XD

Reader be getting along with Diona or any cat-like hybrid. As someone commented, the reader is like them, in which the reader fires back at them saying "I'M A TIGER NOT A CAT!"

But honestly people would find the reader 's abilities very fascinating.

And then they realize the reader could heal her wounds after some panic, getting stabbed or injured and trying to take her to a healer but instead her wounds healed rapidly.

I also imagine readers have similarities with Atsushi but personality wise it's up to you guys how you imagine a reader's personality is like with having the same Abilities like Atsushi.

But yeah what do you guys think? XD

This will have part 2 soon but a different version.

Part 2 will mainly be a cult au where the reader does not control the charas in the modern world but the reader is born in Genshin and is still a god but I guess it's still a sagau but a bit different since cult au and sagau are similar yet different I guess 🤔

The reason why I sound a bit excited in Part 2 of this brain rot? Because reader will be in the Fatui

But she will be someone who is usually in the shadows doing most dirty work and is always near Tsaritsa like a Shadow UwU

Hello there, yes of course ^u^ I'm always up for some creativity. Love this fandom.

A key element one should know when interacting with this troublemaker is that there is a lot that does not meet the surface. Toby seems adorable, loving and so incredibly kind despite his profession. Many would describe him as a victim of his circumstance – or as a weak wuss that only ended up working for Slender due to “luck”.

And you know what? They are right. And yet they seem to ignore his hidden nature. Toby grew up in an environment where seeming too cocky, standing up for himself, or behaving in a manner that wasn’t deemed proper, would come at a price. Pain. Suffering. Violence.

Not feeling pain does not mean one can just get tossed about, a body has its limits, and so does the mind.

Toby grew up to be a survivor. Which means that he will make others see him in a way that lets him stay safe.

At the same time, he is not infinitely kind or cheery. If he was, he would have not survived while working in a team with a remorseless sadist and an emotionally unstable manipulator.

In fact, he had to prove himself physically and mentally not to be someone that can be pushed around, otherwise, he would have a target on his back.

Thankfully for him, all went well, except for some minor injuries. His practicality allowed him to stand on equal footing with the pair.

In the main building, he has a good reputation. Much more mentally stable and in charge of himself, much more sociable, and of course very capable of monitoring the forest ground, as well as dealing with intruders. People tend to be drawn to him.

No one in the mansions can be viewed as “normal” by the outsiders. Singing a contract with Slender changed your biology and spirit, making you stronger, faster, and smarter – a true mark of danger. They do not age in the same way. Meaning that even the most human-looking of the inhabitants would not be able to hold that disguise forever. That and the interaction between the proxies, demons, demi-gods, and horrid creatures of all kinds makes Toby’s uniqueness blend in.

His minimal ability to feel pain, disorganized speech, tics and cracks as well as antisocial behavior that can swing like a pendulum don’t raise anyone’s brows in his line of work. A nice change compared to his past of ridicule.

Many would have a mental breakdown at the prospect of being in his shoes. Toby however is glad to be where he is. He does not mind his work assignments and gets a safe place to live, food, and a comfortable environment where he no longer has to walk on eggshells.

Though in all truth, it took him a while to feel comfortable. The nightmares, memories of his sister, the complex feelings towards his mother as well as the after-effects of signing the contract all caused a lot of unresolved worry and conflict.

While the past could not be changed, time went on and his personal space got filled with new people and memories. Reminders of his past will always stay with him at a much less intense level.

His current self is confident, outgoing, and relentless. You could even call him annoying – he can be and yes, he is doing it on purpose. It’s best not to give him too much of a reaction as that only encourages him. He loves messing with others.

I love and appreciate that this message is, I can only assume, prompted by my most recent post about the Silmarillion Superhero AU, which is objectively crack in general and that particular post was especially so, what with declaring Maglor to be basically the Music Meister (B:TBatB).

HERE'S MORE FREE WORLDBUILDING FOR THAT WORLD:

(kinda retcon to previous statements) the Great Music and Songs of Power work the same way they do in Arda proper, or maybe a little more practically than that (though I suspect First Age Elves regularly got up to much more overt acts of power than we see in LotR). This occupies the same...worldbuilding environmental niche? as "magic" in a Marvel/DC superhero world. Like, "Song" and "spell" are used synonymously.

Correspondingly, like Scarlet Witch is technically a mutant with the mutation "is really good at magic", Maglor and Finrod both got the Light-empowered ability to be really good at Music

They don't have the exact same power. Though the most notable distinction might be more a matter of personality: Finrod is more innately talented at manipulating minds and emotions, and Maglor is more innately talented at manipulating the physical environment. However, when the House of Fëanor officially turned to Villainy, Maglor started leaning more into the manipulating hearts and minds, because that's more sinister, and Finrod was like, "cool, I see what you're doing there" and started practicing more with the sort of Songs that produce effects similar to telekinesis (or healing! Finrod's a good healer)

So, you know shit is getting Really Real if they switch back

They also both have the potential to affect the course Great Music on a level localized to currently-happening or about-to-happen events, because that's my favorite theory as to what was really going on in the Battle of Finrod and Sauron – fighting over not the minds or actions of individuals but how this story was going to go, loyalty, strength and joy or betrayal and tragedy! But that's, well, battling-a-Maiar-for-your-life-and-your-team's level of effort. Fall-unconscious-for-at-least-a-day-afterward effort.

In another recent train of thought:

People with elaborate spreadsheets on “how to kill and/or disable all my family members if necessary”: Maedhros, Fingolfin, Curufin, Finarfin (less elaborate, but he does have a spreadsheet, because he loves them but doesn't trust most of them anymore)

Has thought about it systematically but not written anything down, and the thoughts were more “how could I personally take each person down, dead or alive”: Celegorm

Has thought about it systematically but not written anything down, and the thoughts were exclusively non-lethal, “what could I Sing to quickly pacify (calm, knock out, and/or otherwise harmlessly disable) each person”: Finrod

In charge of the UN office that keeps an entire database of this sort of information for every known superhuman on the planet, but doesn't personally track it: Círdan

Maedhros is basically personally engaged in an escalating quiet war with...the US government, basically. Wherein sometimes they reasonably need to summon him to testify before Congress about his many legally dubious business and other practices, or more often he comes personally to schmooze, lobby, and offer campaign contributions...all of which he's very good at, what with the superhuman charisma. And they're perfectly aware of that danger!

So there's an entire R&D lab in the Department of Defense dedicated to trying to create security measures to counter the powers of...well, superpowered people overall, of course, very much including the House of Finwë. But also: Maedhros specifically.

Maedhros would take this as a personal challenge anyway, not to mention a thing to be evaded for entirely practical reasons. But it's emotionally heavier than that because the entire House of Finwë has trauma about being powerless, because when Ungoliant came in her cloud of Darkness, they were all utterly, painfully powerless. Like all the energy had been stolen from their limbs and all the breath from their lungs, along with (temporarily) the Light. And we all know how that went.

So Maedhros is like, "we are playing a fun little one-upmanship game :)" and then every time they spring something new on him, he does his best to steal it immediately and send it to Curufin or whoever else is necessary to reverse engineer it and devise a countermeasure

One time the DoD got their hands on a live Void Spider, a true Ungoliant spawn, and somehow caged it and started getting usable Darkness from it. Some general, and the scientists working for him, was very please when Maedhros condescendingly tried on the new required-security power-blocking cuff and visibly paled, and made a quick excuse for backing out of the White House meeting he was about to attend. They would've been less please if they'd known that the instant he was back in his car and driving away, he called Fingolfin - directly to his cell phone, not even pussyfooting around by calling Fingon instead - and said, "We have a problem."

They were even less pleased when (predictably tbh) the Spider broke out of containment and a mixed band of heroes and villains had to save Washington DC from being consumed by nothingness, but obviously the US government brought that on themselves.

it’s miya again :) I hope all has been well with you. I really loved your meta this week & it made me realize the reason I appreciate your analysis so much. You write about buddie but you write about them as buck AND eddie and not like they are one combined single unit. buck and eddie are their own people with different personalities and i think people forget that sometimes when it comes to talking about them together.

I love how the focus of your analysis was eddie and his clear childhood/adolescent trauma dealing with traditional parents who believe in only one way of doing things. I feel like people kinda missed that when talking about eddie & his performing. i know people interpreted the performing line as literal but it’s much deeper than that and you pointed that out very well. it all goes to show you we look at things through so many different lens but i love your focus point so much. you honestly make me want to get better at my own writing and analysis for this two lovers.

I wanted to ask you though on your thoughts about buck downplaying his brush with death. He never has explicitly said out loud “i died” & I do think that moments coming soon. I just found it interesting that everyone keeps reiterating that to him & i wonder if he’ll snap the next time someone says it. Buck has not processed or accepted that his trauma happened. him referring to him literally dying as “an accident on the job” breaks my heart cause you can tell he wants people to stop making a big deal of it, despite it being very serious. he is suppressing his trauma which i understand as someone with ptsd. anyways sorry for my rambling. buck is my favorite & character i connect to the most so i tend to babble a lot lol. hope you have a lovely rest of your day/evening/night whenever you see this ❤️

Awww! Yes, that's exactly it! I think I even explained it in one of my earlier weekly meta posts, that I'll be writing about Buck, Eddie AND BuckandEddie. So I'm glad that's something you not only noticed, but also enjoy! ^u^ Thank you SO MUCH for the kind words! And I'm particularly please to learned you liked my POV on Eddie in my 614 meta. I know I've spoken to a very perceptive friend of mine back when... I think it was still s3 airing? Or possibly start of season 4, and despite how smart and insightful she is, she had missed the bit about Eddie's conversation with Bobby back in 217. So yeah, I think a lot of people might have? We all miss something, since 911 serves us with so much goodness. And I'm glad if in this case, this is something I can add to the table.

I fully agree with you, Buck is not really coping with what happened, given the fact that he's not yet said it out loud, and other characters have to remind him of it repeatedly. I also wondered this week if his PT scores being low is also a reflection of him still struggling with the lightning strike and how to recover from it. Because remember in 301, when he was coming back from the fire truck crushing his leg? He still aced his re-qualification exam. Even after he also suffered a pulmonary embolism during that very same period of time AND survived (and rescued others during) a tsunami, we never got any indication that his physical ability to bounce back had been diminished. So that suddenly changing? It could be a sign of the gravity of the matter, and how this is different, and Buck has to wrap his head around it, but because he hasn't yet, his full recovery is also stalling. I don't wanna get too much into spoilers, but based on the little that we do know about the finale, I feel like if this isn't addressed before the end of the season, then it should be in its very last ep. The themes seem like they would easily lend themselves to it, in any case. I hope that's what happens! If it also leads to some breakthrough with Eddie, one of them finally, finally ADMITTING what the other one means to them, I would be ecstatic, but I would absolutely take the win if we simply see Buck starting to actually face the trauma he had just been through.

no one asked but real quick here r my opinions on ranma pairings that come to mind!! obv i’m not trying to say u Cant feel differently abt them, these r just my own thoughts

ranma/akane - if uve followed me for even half a day u already know this is my absolute fave one. yes it’s canon no that doesn’t make it boring, they understand each other on a level the other characters don’t even come close to

ranma/shampoo - die in a fire they r SO bad for each other (shampoo is significantly worse but ranma’s also not great to her)

ranma/ukyo - don’t love it but i suppose she’d be the next best choice after akane (at least as a pairing that could realistically happen in canon bc there’s no way something like ranryo would ever happen). i love ukyo but not with ranma, she doesn’t listen to his wants and honestly i think he’d hold her back, and i also don’t think she ever really was in love w him and just kinda felt obligated bc “oh shit if I cant kill him and I don’t marry him then I’ve wasted my life.” LOVE these two as besties tho

ranma/kodachi - literally dont feel like I need to say anything here, ive never seen anyone ship them

ranma/ryoga - not my cup of tea but I can see why ppl like it. genuinely it’s mostly bc i cant see ranma liking men lmao i mean he flirts w them for free food and whatever but he always gets grossed out when they try to respond. i personally see ranma as a lesbian

ranma/ryoga/akane - same as above except i understand it less. mmmmaybe if akane and ryoga both loved ranma but not each other?? ryoga and ranma had some actual chemistry, but akane and ryoga……… eeehh. speaking of!

akane/ryoga - don’t ship at all. ryoga is kinder to her than ranma if you’re judging on the surface, but he doesn’t fundamentally understand her the way ranma does and doubts her ability a lot more. (to the point ranma has to physically stop him in one episode to tell him “this is akane’s fight, she’s got this and will be mad if you meddle”) also the whole p-chan thing is creepy. i enjoy ryoga as character but i don’t think he fits w her at all

akane/shampoo - don’t like it. i mean i’ve read fics where shampoo admits to liking akane (or even just respecting her as a fellow female martial artist) but also like… that exists outside of canon shampoo to me lol. canon shampoo doesn’t care about other people, and she in particular is homophobic towards akane to her face

akane/ukyo - i like it to an extent! if it were in canon i wouldn’t want it to go beyond like akane blushing when ukyo saves her and maybe offhandedly saying something like “she’s so cool” and ukyo, after spending some time w akane, admitting to herself that she can understand why ranma likes her. i think it’s cute to think abt

akane/kodachi - i love this but only one-sidedly. in canon i’d want kodachi to be Like That with ranma purely to rile up akane bc she wants her attention. i mean literally already in canon kodachi seems to not know what to do once she actually gets ranma other than dangle him over her alligator and wait for akane to save his ass. it’d be a funny twist for her to be doing all this just bc she wants to see akane and doesn’t think to just talk to her like a normal person

shampoo/mousse - don’t like at all

shampoo/ukyo - no real thoughts but I don’t love it. maybe similar to how I feel abt ranryo but while my feelings for that as neutral/positive this is neutral/negative

ukyo/ryoga - i can see why ppl like it and I believe I did too back in 2011 or so when i first watched it, but i feel like most ppl who ship this have only watched the anime (valid! but their manga partners are both great characters imo). I didn’t rlly see it at all upon rewatch and reading the manga put the final nail in the coffin. they’d be fun as friends tho! i like that they have a silly friendship similar to akane and mousse’s friendship where they’re more Worsties than anything but will hang out with and help each other if they need to

ukyo/tsubasa - no. i have very mixed feelings abt tsubasa as is, but ukyo has no interest in him and sees him as an annoyance so i wouldn’t want her to be w someone she doesn’t like (side note: used he/him for tsubasa bc he’s very open abt being a crossdresser. i know that crossdresser is used as a transphobic insult in the series, but… eehhh… tsubasa isn’t really like ranma and konatsu who are both pretty blatantly not cis. he declares himself as a guy all the time, which yeah ranma does too, but ranma’s whole character development is how that breaks down for him)

ukyo/konatsu - yes, i think they’re sweet and konatsu is very supportive of ukyo’s goals. i think this pairing would need more development before i’d really want it declared Officially Canon. i mean it is, but obv ukyo still has some feelings to work out similarly to ryoga and his canon gf, and i think she’d need to more clearly let go of ranma before this could truly blossom in canon. i love konatsu and i love ukyo and i think they’d be good girlfriends after a little work

ryoga/akari - love it, it’s sweet and i LOVE akari. like I said i think ryoga needs to work thru some shit/let go of akane to truly appreciate akari, and it’s annoying he’s still attached to her when he has a gf but i understand it’s difficult to just Stop liking someone you’ve liked for prob a solid year or so just bc u got asked out by someone else

these are all the ones I can think of rn but ur more than welcome to ask if u want my thots on any other ones lol

I just remembered that when I saw Encanto ( me and my friends almost shat urself because of Isabella's song cause she says like row of roses in og and in FR they said 'mes roses sont rose and rose' is fr word for pink so we're trying our best to not disturb the five other person in the room because we were like 'WHOUA congratulation gurl ur roses are fucking rose U DONT SAY' anyway) and while watching my feral writersbrains on an MHA phase was like HEY IDEAA and I though about it for months I'm not even joking I saw encanto late december in 2021 and almost spent my whole second semester of 2022 thinking about it, planning and drawing it. And now that I started to really use this blog for my fics and arts I will now explain to you my Encanto/My Hero Academia extensives fanfic idea enjoyyy

TW : mention of sui**de and of abuse (I don't go into detail to the best of my ability)

The parallel between Mirabel and Izuku is mind blowing (Waiting on a Miracle was like textbook quirkless Izuku of the start of MHA yes ?) So I thought of this : Imagine if quirkless people had a things, a sort of ritual, that one would do when they were going to end their life its like super simple juste light a white candle (I hadn't though of the implication so far but I was thinking something like to represent those who went before them those still living and those that would follows it that makes sense ?) Imagine Izuku that was just told by Bakugou ukw and All Might saying No u can't be a Hero ? Whitout going into details Izuku does the candle things but before he dies the candle juste burst to life and saves him in a burst of lights ((I should draw that ....)) and it's a crossover it is NOT an AU

In this crossover... Izuku is a direct descendent of Mirabel. Madrigal, Midoryia same thing. And when Izuku did what he did the Miracle of familia Madrigal protected him like it protected them before. Izuku was saved by the Miracle but the Miracle is directly linked to him now and thats mean that now he can use the powers of the miracle. And he can see the Madrigals too and can interact with them and that the story of how Izuku Midoryia gots his quirk and got trained by ghost of his ancestors.

Imagine how he would pass the entrance exam the physical portion part would be something to watch for sure because he use a lot of different things while the only information they have on the quirk is that it's called somethings like legacy or Madrigal's legacy and All might thinks that AFO is behind it because it is not normal blablba. So he really does a good impression etc (specially Nezu that boy smart and he knows it)

the drawbacks of Legacy are things like migraines, sensory overlord, sore muscle to the point he can't move etc he has drawback for almost all gifts because while the Madrigal's lived with their power for years etc he just got them. + He has to shape up a lot for Luisa's gift and he can't use it often so he doesn't rely on it.

List of power goes as this : -Super Force (Luisa) - Flora control (Isabella) - Healing (Julietta) - Wheater control (Pepa) - Future Vision (Bruno) - Shapeshifting (Camillo) - Animal Affinity (Antonio) - Super Hearing (Dolores) -Casita (I love the theory where casita spirit is Mirabel's abuelo)

Loving the wholesome moment with other Madrigals etc and of course adding my favorite part the one were he gets adopted by Aizawa because that my idea and I decide.

was also thinking of making Izuku's father reaaaaaly similar physically to Bruno and him being a good dad but completely clueless to what happened with Izuku (I want Hisashi Midoryia to be an Historian/Archélogue and that's what he will be.)

ah and he's hero name is Mariposa.

Regarding your post: I feel like Naruto always knew how messed up his situation was which is why he didn’t want Sasuke to go through the same thing of being the sole bearer of hatred. Because he knew what it was like. And unlike Sasuke, who had Naruto to convince him that there are things and burdens that can’t be dealt with all by yourself, nobody ever really told Naruto that he didn’t have to be the savior of the world, right? I think this is why he takes it upon himself to give Sasuke a little relief. Because not only was nobody else going to do it, but because he understands and loves him and would rather die than see him become a forever alone miserable figure of judgement.

I also think Naruto doesn’t really look at himself because he doesn’t exactly know how to (after all he was convinced that he had to earn being treated like a human being instead of ever being told that the hatred the villagers had for him wasn’t his fault at all), so he thinks of his life as being for others instead of for himself. Which is probably why he thinks of sacrifice as an act of love, maybe? His parents, Sasuke, Iruka, Neji, all sacrificed themselves for him.

I like how you painted this picture that Naruto is giving out all this love and support to sasuke because really he wants someone to say that to himself. He wants someone to tell him 'you don't have to do this alone' and be an equal he can stand beside. The good news is that sasuke reciprocates this fully when he says

"The us that quarrelled over the smallest things… are now able to share the pain in each other's hearts."

But I do want to note that this isn't the first time someone has tried to 'ease naruto's burdens'.

During kage summit arc, sai remarks to sakura how unfair the burden they are placing on Naruto is, especially following the pein attack and.. well we saw how sakura tried to lift that lol. And it would be disingenuous of me to ignore how the rest of the konoha 12, his sensei's etc. have helped Naruto. They taught him, they supported him through war arc...

In fact they tried to 'hide Naruto away' and take on the war by themselves. But ... the fact of the matter is, even the entire shinobi alliance is not at naruto's power level (sure, you can blame that on shonen protagonist privileges lol)

So it's not just about wanting to help Naruto, but it's about knowing how and their ability to. And it's in sasuke that naruto finds his match both physically but also emotionally, as it's sasuke who understood him better than anyone else (naruto's words not mine!). And sasuke again confirm it is something he reciprocates in sharing with him when he says

"Could it be that… just like how the hope and and pain from my father, mother and my brother, Itachi flowed into me… I'd understand your pain and hopes too, Naruto?"

On the topic of 'self-worth', you're right, it was through iruka, sasuke that naruto internalised that Love is to be in service to others. And in this way, Naruto encapsulates his namesake 'jinchuuriki' very well, as it translates to 'human sacrifice'.

Naruto coming to realise that his worth does not come from external validation would have been a complementary parallel to sasukes progression of accepting that bonds do not make you weak .

But having said that, it's insensitive to go to a touch starved child who spent his childhood being treated as the demon spawn and say 'u should find happiness in spite of your lonely circumstances. You should learn that you don't need anyones approval to be worthy".

I think that sort of story could work in different circumstances. but this story is about an orphan boy whose never been caressed, never been greeted home with a warm meal, never had a parent stay up by their bedside as they had a fever... So I can argue that it's ok kishi didn't take this route with naruto's character.. to many average ppl, saying 'loneliness scares me to death' is a flaw, but you have to understand that this is a fundamental aspect of narutos character and changing it too much I find would compromise what a complex and imperfect character he is.

But all this to say, I do still think there is a balance between Naruto and sasukes extremes and in the same way we saw sasuke change, it would have been interesting to see that with Naruto as well.

Let’s get ready to ramble – SNW S1E03

This post – naturally – contains spoilers. If you haven’t seen the episode yet and do not want to read spoilers, please do not read any further.

This is not an episode review but rather just a bunch of ramblings which I’ve tried to at least sort a little bit into categories.

Season 1 – Episode 3 – Ghosts of Illyria

I’ve posted some of my thoughts in the Strange New Pod mailbag, so check out their channel if you like. 😊

Pike’s inner demons - continued

No mention of that at all in this episode, and that was the perfect choice! This episode was centered around Una and M’Benga. Showing any of Pike’s PTSD in this episode would have felt way out of place. BUT we still see him dealing with it in an indirect way. Judging from how he reacts when he’s in imminent danger, he obviously still hasn’t made up his mind whether his future is predestined or not. Because if he knew with 100% certainty that he cannot die up until the moment when he rescues those cadets, why would he be afraid of a) the ion storm and b) the glowing creatures?

On hindsight, I think Una challenging his vision in the last episode was actually a genius choice by the writers. Because that got Pike thinking. He is now not so sure anymore whether the vision will really be his fate. I still believe the writers will not retcon his fate, but at least now Pike does have a sense of fear and danger again. Fear is not a weakness, it is what makes us cautious. If he has no fear because he knows his fate, he will take risks. But now that Una has given him the uncertainty, she – probably unknowingly – helped Pike to overcome this blockage.

Wishlist - yay or nay

Reference is made to this post:

Different tones in different episodes – Again yay. Compared to the first two episodes, this one is dramatic and has some suspense. I wouldn’t have minded if it had a few horror elements, too; but I’m fine with how the episode worked out. The positive messages the show tries to bring to us continue to happen. It turns out the ghosts of Illyria were not out to harm or possess Pike and Spock, but instead they wanted to protect them. And it also turns out the Illyrian colonists weren’t mad people who tried to subdue other civilizations with their superior augmented abilities. The colonists wanted to de-engineer their augmentations to join Starfleet because they believed in the good Starfleet is doing. This is a nice fuck you to everyone who thinks in stereotypes and always suspect the worst in people. It is also why Pike doesn’t fear the discussion with Starfleet, should Una’s secret ever be revealed to them. He has seen the good in the Illyrian’s and he’s willing to fight for them.

Surprising reveal - Kinda yay. I hoped for a surprising reveal for Pike, but as all my points in my wishlist are directed at Pike (for obvious reasons, duh), I am fine if this happens to other characters on the show. This time it is Una who has a shocking secret revealed, one that will change her character significantly in the show (and one that originated from beta canon). We all thought the augment would be La’an. And I actually still think she is, even if “just” by inheritance. Have you seen the fight? La’an was on par with Una.

But it’s actually Una who is augmented (, too). That makes Pike’s 3 senior officers ranked right below him in the command chain all physically superior to him, with Spock being a Vulcan and Una and presumably also La’an both being physically enhanced. I can already hear all the crying from so called “true Trek fans” about how the writers “emasculate” Pike and about how “woke” the show is. I’ll enjoy drinking your tears 😂😂😂. Truth is Pike is going to be thrilled to have such a strong back-up! I mean why wouldn't he? They are on the same side! I’d also be happy to have a crew who can kick ass.

Randoms

Disclaimer: I often ask questions here which might be understood as nitpicking (and it probably is). But it is never meant to slam the writers or the show. They are just questions that pop up in my mind while I watch the episode for the first time and I just take notes. But should none of my questions ever be answered, trust me I will not lose sleep over it. So please just take my questions with a bit of tongue in cheek. They are never meant overly serious.

So La’an is very much aware who her ancestor is, and it seems it’s part of her Starfleet file so everyone knows. I sure hope we gonna get an episode focused on that, because just telling the story wouldn’t be satisfying to me. As I said before, I am pretty sure she inherited some of the augmented strength. Just the way she could hold up against Una is a straight giveaway.

Why did the increased atmospheric pressure and the Illyrian ghosts’s proximity inflict pain on Pike and not on Spock? Do Vulcans have thicker eardrums? Or does Spock just have a higher pain tolerance? He looks totally undazzled while Pike’s head looks like it’s about to explode (hah! I did it 🤯😋).

Why didn’t Pike and Spock get infected? At least Pike was in the same room as Ensign Lance when Lance released the virus from the cabinet, and the room was bright. Also as M’Benga later found out, it only took passing an infected person on the Enterprise to catch the disease.

How did the ghosts know there were people on the planet that needed protection?

And why didn’t they break through the window which would have been much easier than breaking through the steel door?

The red shirt death counter still didn’t get a strike! How hilarious would it be to have an entire Star Trek show running for like 5 or 7 seasons without a single red shirt biting the dust? (probably very unrealistic)

I loved to see Pike’s anxiety when they were stuck on the planet and his mind was racing around his sick crew back on the Enterprise. I’ve seen people complaining that Pike is too perfect, when in fact he’s not. He does show very human feelings that I think most of us would have if we were in the same situation. You fear for your crew and feel helpless, so you start pacing around in anxiety. You get angsty when some unknown creature tries to break through a steel door. And you sure as hell are frightened when they actually break through and come for you. Not to mention his PTSD. I think Pike is represented in a very realistic way with all his flaws but also all his good sides.

So, M’Benga also has a sad backstory (and I am sure the whiners will jump on this one, too). But it wasn’t just tell, they also showed his daughter Rukiya. I just hope Una and M’Benga don’t keep this secret from Pike. If Una has learnt one thing in this episode, then it’s better not to keep secrets from him. He got your back. Don’t thank him by keeping even more secrets from him. That is just not fair and could break more than it can help.

Also, Una’s doubts about Pike felt misplaced to me. Her assumption he might have decided differently if she was not the hero is emotional and probably based on her insecurity in this matter, but it holds no merit. He clearly told her he doesn’t care where she comes from. If M’Benga had found the cure all on his own, it wouldn’t have made any difference for Pike. It baffles me a bit that after Una and Pike have presumably known each other for so long, she doubts him like that.

I love the reference to Lower Decks that multiple lower ranked crew members have to share one crew quarters and sleep in bunk beds! And they even intermix the crew, not just one quarters for all male and one for all female.

How did the cylinder with the relevant information that the Illyrians wanted to officially apply to join Starfleet pop out just when Pike and Spock were to leave the archive? I suppose one of the ghosts stayed back to activate the cylinder, but there wasn’t any of the glowing creatures to be seen.

Pike refused to accept Una’s resignation and to report her to Starfleet. While I get that he’s taking the risk (because in his mind he only has 10 years of active duty left anyways, so to hell with regulations), there are 3 more people onboard the Enterprise who need to keep their mouths shut as well: La’an, Chapel and M’Benga. While I do not doubt their loyalty to Una, that’s still a lot of people to keep the same secret. My guess is Una’s secret will be revealed to Starfleet sooner or later anyways, and we might see a kind of a repeat of Julian Bashir’s story. Starfleet allowed La’an to join them even though she probably has inherited augmented genes. They could do the same for Una. However, the difference is that Una was aware of her inheritance but lied to Starfleet to be able to join them. There might be a court martial for all people involved (because let’s face it, court martials are a classic in Starfleet and SNW will have theirs sooner or later) but she’ll probably be left off the hook because she proved herself worthy and to not have ill intentions. Additionally this episode could be the base for redeeming the Illyrians.

I think when Una carried Hemmer to sickbay, Rebecca was actually carrying a Hemmer puppet… and I’d bet 10 bucks that it was a puppet like the one showed at the SNW exhibition on Mission Chi and in New York at the Paley Center!

The Illyrian ghosts sometimes show their humanoid form. If you look closely you can make out hints of legs, arms and a head. When they all three band together to protect Pike and Spock, they form a little dome. I wish there had been some communication. But I also have the feeling this might not have been the last time we’ve seen the Illyrian’s or the Illyrian ghosts.

We cannot count on future interactions with other Illyrians being just as smooth. In the Enterprise show, Archer stole a warp core from Illyrian’s (after the Illyrian helped to repair the Enterprise mind you!) in order to reach Earth before the Xindi with their deadly weapon could. Archer literally left the Illyrian’s to die, because without the warp core, they would need years to travel home and there was no guarantee that they would find enough food, water and resources on their long journey. But should they have been found by their own people (which we do not know), you can bet that at least some Illyrians might not be too happy to run into humans again.

I suppose the building complex where the landing party beamed down has never been hit by the ion storm since the colonists vanished, because only this time the windows were shattered.

Ethen Peck as Spock has so grown on me big time. He’s not just some iteration of Spock as he was in Discovery. In the very few episodes of SNW he became Spock to the core, at least to me. There is something different going on in SNW that wasn’t there in Discovery but I cannot pinpoint it. But whenever he speaks and the way he sometimes looks… it feels like a perfect Nimoy impersonation.

Still not enough Hemmer in this episode! But I am sure the episode centered around engineering will come. Have faith people!

The CGI porn was outstanding in this episode. I mean, just look at this! And also thank you for having put a nightmare of mine into pictures. I've been dreaming of a thunderstorm like that with black clouds engulfing me since I was maybe 9 years old. And yeah, they did return... 😟

On a sad note, I think I have to skip “spot the dimples” for episode 3 because I couldn’t find any. Looks like scared Pike doesn’t produce dimples lol.

Who would you say the closest matchup to my version of Destoroyah is, in the canon of the Ultraman Series? Additionally, how would a battle between the two of them go?

Keep in mind that my Destoroyah is an absolute beast. For example:

—My Godzilla’s base form’s Nuclear Supernova Blast has a temperature range from 110 Trillion Degrees Celsius to 185 Trillion Degrees Celsius and is about 106 times more powerful than his default Atomic Breath in the same form, and my Destoroyah walked through the Nuclear Supernova Blast with no visible burns or other damage.

—My Destoroyah took on Ultraman Milave, Ultraman Vylcan, my Godzilla, my Gamera, my King Kong, my Gojirin, my Mothra, Marinojira, Finago, and Gomohlra all at once and was an equal to them collectively.

——That’s 8 Kaiju (5 of whom are around Ultra Brother level in strength and power, 1 who’s just below Super Taro level, 1 who’s as strong as an Ultra Brother but without any energy attacks, and 1 who is, in my AU, strong enough to fight an average New Gen Ultra, provided they stay in base form), Milave (who is on a level slightly above Super Taro), and Vylcan (who’s base form power is on par with Milave and possesses natural Energy Amplification abilities (which he can use on his own attacks or the attacks of others, including both physical and energy attacks (also, keep in mind that when Vylcan uses these abilities, he does not drain his time limit any more than if he does not use them)).

Btw, I’m letting you decide the opponent for a reason: I have no idea who could stand against my Destoroyah in canon without either curbstomp him or being defeated by him.

Anyway, as always, I’ve sent you my Destoroyah’s abilities as reference, as well as his stats and his forms (though, in this case, we’re focused on his Perfect form).

I mean based on what you've said, the highlight would be him going against 2x Super Taro ultras

Thus far in canon, we haven't even seen anyone being able to fight on par with even Super Taro itself so I have no idea

If u wanna insist on having a closest comparison, it'll have to be Gua Spectre, Grimude, U-Killersaurus Neo, Giga Chimera, Grand King, UDK, but the latter 2 got absolutely destroyed by Super Taro (the latter didn't even face off the "real" Super Taro in canon) and we don't exactly know how strong the former 4 are (We only know that theyre weaker but the degree of which is not known)

If u wanna go off by non-canon, it'll then be the pachinko version of UDK, especially in Season 2 with his other upgrade forms being Shadow, Might and Delta (see ultrawiki for more details)

If u wanna include theoretical beings, Super Grand King (Original, without Dark Spark's manipulation) and Super Grand King Spectre (If he didn't lose Juda Spectre's influence)

But if u want to have a cap on Yr OC, Belial and Ken (even pre Ultra Great War) would stomp him, much less the Legendary Ultras

Ye this is kind of a hard qn to answer specifically because as said before, its hard to appreciate the scaling of beings beyond New Gen/Ultra Brother level like the high tier fusions, Great War Era Ultras and the Legendary Ultras because they are in tiers extremely far apart from one another, such that they mostly stomp their opponents when they appear
