Alley Drunk! Danny AU- Pt. 4
[Pt.1] [Pt.2] [Pt.3]
Danny blinked down at the cart, where a red hoodie and pants with red stripes along the side laid over the lip of the cart. Considering they’re in this universe’s brand of Marget- seriously, who names a store Target? If anything in Amity Park was named that, Skulker would have wrecked it in five seconds flat- it’s hilariously on brand. Though, to be fair, this was Gotham’s version too, which meant a lot of security guards (who definitely doubled as goons for the Rogues, Danny was sure) and the vibes were spooky.
“I’m guessing red’s your favorite color.”
Instead of the humorous way he meant the sentence, Jason looked up anxiously and Danny immediately hated himself a little bit more.
“Sh- I can put it back..?” Jason hunched in on himself.
Danny tracked the movement with clearer eyes than he’s had in a long while and ancients, does it remind him of how Dani was in front of Vlad all those years ago. And Danny has spent his entire half life being not like Vlad, so he’s not going to start now.
“Nah, you should definitely add some more stuff. This is no where near enough clothes.”
It really wasn’t. Danny had taken Jason to the store to pick out clothes- “Ther’s a second hand store down the stree’, ya know,” Jason had mumbled when they went through the doors- but the kid had only tentatively put in a small red hoodie and some pants in the cart. Now he had to put this in a way that’ll wipe the stubbornly hesitant look on Jason’s face off.
“Think about it this way, then. You’re repping me now, and while I might be the alley drunk, I’m not the poorly dressed alley drunk, yeah?”
“Oh. Tha’ makes sense.” Jason nodded to himself determinedly, and the kid strode over to the t-shirt section. For all of his confidence, he still glanced back to see if it was okay with Danny.
Well, Dani was the same way before she found her confidence (when she knew Danny wouldn’t abandon her or hurt her) so Danny just gave him a thumbs up before reaching into the rack and sweeping an armful of clothing straight into the cart. Then, he strode over to the jackets and grabbed the ones in Jason’s size and slightly bigger. Oh, he has to grab shoes. He’ll leave that for later, but Danny was going to get those ratty trainers off of Jason’s feet and into the nearest trash can if it was the last thing he does.
The halfa hummed, pausing at the first decidedly not miserable sound he’s made in a while. Dammit, if that wasn’t a sign of Danny’s attachment to Jason, he doesn’t know what would be. To be fair… Danny already committed murder for the kid, which was pretty much something he thought he’d never do, so in for a penny out for a pound or whatever.
He put a significant amount of the budget aside for the section labeled “JASON” so Danny shopped without a worry. Charlie’s ill-gotten assets were a good monetary compensation for his crime of existing near Jason or existing, period.
He picked up toiletries, toothbrushes and the like, when Jason came back sans t-shirt. Instead of a shirt- Danny had actually hoped that Jason would try to get multiple shirts- Jason was clutching a book.
Before he could even voice anything, Danny plucked the book out of his grip and put it into the cart with a disarming smile.
“Oh, good idea. We should get you books too. Wanna go pick out some more?”
“Uh- y’re just gonna get a book, just like that?”
“More than one book, I should hope. You are going to school, right?”
“…Yeah!” Danny couldn’t fathom ever being excited at the thought of school, but as Jason bounced away to peruse the admittedly poor selection of books, Danny couldn’t help but think that maybe he should give this education thing another try. Who knows? Maybe it’ll be less stressful now that he’s not Phantom.
Danny walked to the aisle next to the books and promptly proceeded to shove every single piece of stationary he thought was nice- pens, gel pens, cooling pens and pencils, a thick stack of notebooks, flash cards, etcetera- into the rapidly getting full cart.
Jason came back with three more books- nice, the classics- and froze at the sight of the cart.
“Oh, hey. Getting all of those?”
“Wha’- wha’s wit’ the stuff?”
“School supplies! Quality education starts with quality supplies, you know!” Danny said, a sliver of the grin that used to come so easily to him making an appearance on his face. "Don't worry, I budgeted. See?"
Danny handed Jason a piece of paper, confident that the kid would know if it was good or not.
"Where'd... ya get all of this?"
"Hmm... here and there."
Jason looked up at him, squinting suspiciously. "I hear' Charlie's gone poofed up."
Danny shrugged and put a calculator in the cart. "Oh, I'm sure he's busy."
Yeah, Danny thought vindictively. Busy being dead.
"Ya sound like a walking con," Jason said as he visibly decided to give up fighting against Danny's spending. "We nee' food."
"Gotcha. Well, if you need anything else, just bring it into the cart."
"I want veggies. Frozen, 's cheaper."
Danny nodded, resisting the urge to ruffle Jason's hair.
----
"Hey, you's the Alley Drunk, right? 'Bout that boy you've been toting ar-"
Danny punched the guy in the face, dropping him like a stone. He looked up slowly and swayed.
"Any of you ask about my kid brother again, and I won't bother with being drunk when I hit you."
Rapid nods. Danny shuffled away, satisfied.
----
Two weeks later, after a school day, Danny finds Jason heading to the bathroom with a box of...
"Hair-dye?"
Jason, who was marginally more relaxed and assured that Danny wasn't going to kick him out, nodded.
"Dye's fadin' n' I dun wanna get nabbed on the streets for having red hair."
Danny blinked. "You have red hair?"
"Sure do. See? Roots are showin' again." Jason pointed at his scalp where Danny could see the hair was getting lighter.
"Right. Well- I'll leave you to it. Let me know if you need help, kiddo." Danny said, desperately hoping he hid how off kilter he was feeling well.
"I don't need help, ah've been doing this for ages." The kid went into the bathroom and closed the door harshly. When the lock clicked and the faucet began running, Danny let himself slide down the wall into a crouch, hands cradling his head.
Red hair. Blue eyes. Tan skin. The facial features. The intelligence and empathy.
Danny chuckled hysterically under his breath.
Was Jason this universe's version of Jazz?
"Fuck."

Hii me again. I'm not sure if I sent the ask I'm talking about on anon, so maybe that's why you didn't see it? It partially got answered with a recent ask you got anyway so no worries. I was just wondering if you use 3d in your process and if so, how? I've seen other illustrators use it to varying degrees and it seems like a really helpful tool to push your work.
Oh that's so weird! No I periodically go through my asks in chunks and I didn't see anything like that. I've had a few people in the past few months send me asks that looked like the second half of something else with no context, so maybe it's Tumblr fuckery. Sorry!!
I recommend learning Blender so you can help sculpt shapes and render lighting onto them in order to get the weirder/more complex shadows right. You can also apply colors onto the things you sculpt in order to see how the colors act in different lighting. It's pretty much an invaluable tool to me as it keeps me from having to problem-solve too much. I did a lot of digging around in my house to build references to photograph but it was just impractical to achieve the things I want to a lot of the time. I still do that, and you would not believe how many goofy photos I have of my husband in the poses you've seen me paint Astarion in lmao...
I do think that it needs to be used in moderation if you are a more beginner artist- I think that using 3D is DANGEROUSLY close to becoming a massive crutch for a newer artist and improper usage or over reliance on it can lead to stiffness or artificial looking colors. You need to be able to train your eye to create compelling compositions by bashing things together, and train your hand to replicate/add/subtract as needed from your references with an organic feel.
I will say this as a total committer of this crime myself in the past, it's VERY easy to tell when an artist relies too much on, for example, Clip Studio Paint posed models as bases for pieces without a good enough grasp on their fundamentals. And I also used to prickle when I saw more advanced artists warn of this, so I do think maybe it just has to run its course sometimes, because I know that using 3D for reference seems like an easy-button.
I've taken a lot of in-person classes for live figure drawing and painting, as well as just totally done drills, basically, on sketching and painting from life before relying too much on static imagery/3D/etc.
I often fret over every piece I do looking too stiff even still.
You have to do a LOT of the boring hard stuff the old fashioned way. And I regularly go back to it over and over when needed.
For example, I recently did a stupid amount of rose petal/flower studies deconstructing and painting ugly little paintings/doodles over and over because I know that I've been horribly weak at painting flowers for years (actively avoiding them). And I've been doing a lot of floral stuff lately due to that.
Whenever I start a new piece in new territory, I know it's going to mean several 3AM nighters where I have two other tabs open on Photoshop where I test out different textures or do a couple of studies. I'm working on a piece of my OC right now that has a lot of gore/medical instruments and I've been working on testing out different methods for shiny metal painting and some anatomical studies. I'll come to a snag in a painting and go "here we go" and work through it one piece at a time.
My Halsin piece, "Secret Spot" in the hot spring, was a massive undertaking with a lot of these moments. The Karlach x Dammon piece took 3 times longer than it should have due to me just having to go back and fix things knowing I could do better after doing some studies.
Ultimately I personally find art tutorials to be quite useless overall once you get to a certain point, unless they are teaching the use of a tool/software because you HAVE to figure out what works for you. And even then I use Blender like a monkey with a keyboard, I suspect, because I've just bruteforced through it, so I could probably use a tuneup from a good teacher on that haha. I hope this helps some, and sorry if I overstepped if I sound preachy.

Can I just say I love your fatherly Miguel headcanons? I live for Miguel and miles father son bonding!
Like just imagine if they finally make amends in the next movie and team up to take down spot and miles somehow “dies” by glitching out of existence almost the same way Miguel’s daughter did (like he’s also in Miguel’s arms when he “dies” too), And Miguel just goes absolutely haywire on spot and is about to kill him until miles somehow magically comes back in time to stop him
Anon, beautiful gorgeous most talented anon, I don't know who you are but I wanna kiss you/hj. You are a genius for thinking of this/gen, I am squealing from joy and from the amount of ideas I'm getting.
I might make this into a fic in the future months(or even years considering how busy my life is now.) But I will try my best to add more and make hcs for this idea :)
(Warning! Bad spelling, ooc!characters, and badly sensored cuss words, death?, talk of murder, mentioning of destroying universes, etc)
Tumblr media
Once they make amends, I imagine miguels own like spider instinct(not spidey sense as he doesn't have that. But like, he's 50% spider and takes serums to stop his animalistic side and stuff.) Immediately just going "Yep, my kid now." Whenever he sees miles, like he immediately goes all overprotective spider dad on miles. So spiders, male wolf spiders specifically (I think) usually carry their young on their backs, and since miguel is 50% spider, imagine him carrying miles everywhere on his back, like a piggy back ride or miguel uses one of these
Tumblr media
And did you know that spider also make nursery's for their young? Like a web/nest nursery's next to their actual web/nest? Imagine miguel just making a whole a$$ bedroom on his platform for miles because his platform-office thingy is the closest thing his spider instincts can see as a sort of nest for himself and therfore miles also has to have nest nursery next to it or on it.
Tumblr media
Now, I'm not showing the photo because personally, it freaked me out and also in case anyone has arachnophobia or a fear of spiders. But like miguel just doing all this sh1t that an actual fathe rspider would do for their young to miles because he's 50% spider and sees miles as his son makes me all giddy(I love found family, father figures, platonic stuff, etc, way too much).
(Warnign angst here!)
Sorry I ramble alot :(, anyways so once emiels starts to 'die'(glitch in and out like you said), I have a feeling miguel would just stop, like his brain can not handle it, like he's so overwhelmed with terror, fury and hopeless, he can not do anything but just watch as miles starts to glitch in his arms. He watches it with a horrified expression, tears building up in his eyes, his anger so large it could destroy any universe without a second thought as long as miles was safe, his fear so terrorising that makes him want to vomit, his worry is indescribable as he practically holds miles for dear life, muttering apologies, about how miles will be okay, comforting himself and miles as he finally let's out his tears, he can't lose another kid yet he just did. He can't even imagine, he didn't even get to apologise for everything he did to miles, and now it seemed he never will. He prays in his mind that miles would be okay, thinking of how he'd rather destroy universes then to lose miles the same way he lost his daughter, or to lose miles at all. Its a scary, silence deafening moment as miles glitches out of miguels arms, disappearing, its a somber, terrifying moment for miguel as he is once again reminded of the multiverses cruelty and deaths cold grip on life.
It's a singular minute after that, that's just pure silence, actually silence, no one dares to speak(if anyone else is there helping miles and miguel), miguel is just still, not moving an inch as he looks down at his arms, sobbing quietly. In his mind, he is screaming in agony, miles is only 15, he didn't deserve this. Yet his anger starts to boil over, as he turns his gaze to the spot, staring at him like a murder, he stares at the spot with such a hatred, anger filled look of sadness and agony. It's only a second then before miguel immediately pounces on him,his talons gripping into the spots skin(where the black heels aren't, the white part.), nearly ripping out the spots arm, he screams at him, curses, sobbing, questions, and so much more yet its hard to tell with the spots own agonising screams of pain and terror. Miguel easily out strengthens the spot, literally clawing unto the spots skin and pulling his limbs so strongly that it almosts rips off the spots body, there's a sliver of blood(pretend the spot has blood.) That comes out of spots limb as miguel does this, miguels still somewhat sobbing yet he is so overtaken by grief and rage, he can't even notice anything around him.
It takes a moment but as miles glitches back, he can see miguel trying to kill (or atleast hurt) the spot, miles expression goes from confusion to pain, and to shock and horror in a matter of seconds. Miguel is still trying to kill the spot but as he is about to completely rip the spots limbs off, he can feel someone hugging him, miguel quietly let's go of the spot, his rage turning into disbelief and confusion as he slowly turns around, seeing miles standing there, not dead or injured at all. It scares miguel, cause what if this is just some cruel prank from the multiverse? What if this isn't miles and just miguel going insane?
Miguel quietly holds miles face, while also checking his body for any injuries, wounds, scratches, etc, he is in pure disbelief. "....miles?....Mijo?..." miguel questions the reality of miles being alive but as it fully sets in that this is infact, miles and he is still alive. Miguel would practically burst into tears, he's been holding in so much pain, from losing his daughter, to almost losing his son miles, he's exhausted from the spider society and keeping universes safe, he can't help but sob as he immediately pulls miles into an almost bone crushing hug, as if he'll glitch away again if miguel let's go. He can't lose another child, he can't lose another person so close to him, especially not his son(metaphorically) miles.
(I'll let you guys deicide what happens to the spot)
I like to think that after this whole thing, miguels overprotectiveness goes from 100% to 1000%, he can't afford miles dying, he can't afford to lose another child. Miguels now just keeps miles everywhere near him, following miles around, making sure he's okay, regular health check ups, and so much more. He stops letting miles on so many missions, if any at all wt this point, the very few missions miles does do is heavily baby-proofed for him. Miles would probably feel uncomfortable at one point or another, but a stern yet calm talk with miguel can make him slowly stop his overbearingness.

The answer to every single question would interest me, but i've picked some out if you are ready to answer them :)): question 2, 11, 17, 29, 49, 51, 52, 55, 62, 69, 70, 71, 73, 91
Still a lot but at least not 100!
Hi! Thank you for this ❤️ I’ve combined 2 & 29 at the end since the answer to 2 contains a spoiler.
I reblogged the linked post if anyone else wants to send in a number.
11. what’s something neat you’ve learned while doing research for something you were writing? also, how much do you worry about doing research in general?
I watched a few videos on how to ride a horse for research so I could (hopefully) describe it accurately in the fic, so that was pretty cool! In the process of doing that, I learned about the necessary equipment and their names (bridle, bit, tack, etc.). I wouldn’t say I worry about doing research, but I do like to include things from the universe to give it a more realistic feel, if that makes sense.
The rest under the cut 😊
17. what is your favorite line you’ve ever written?
This is more than one line, sorry. But they go together.
It was horrible. It was wonderful. It made her feel wicked. It made her feel alive.
49. do you want to be published some day?
Maybe one day! I think that would be really cool.
51. share the synopsis of a story you work on that you haven’t published yet
This is a rough synopsis based on an anon request I got that I’m slowly but surely making progress on (anon, I promise I’ll finish it one day!)
At ten, Aegon develops a small crush on the daughter of one of the castle maids. As they grow older, the crush morphs into a friendship. But maybe it could be something more.
52. how many unfinished ideas/stories are you working on at the same time?
I tend to bounce around 2-3, but mentally I work on every single one of them every day
55. do you have any abandoned WIP’s? What made you abandon them?
I don’t (at least not yet)
62. what’s the weirdest reason you’ve ever shipped something?
This isn't weird, but I am not immune to being persuaded based on content I see on the dash
69. how do you write emotional scenes? do you ever feel what the characters feel?
I try my best to put myself in the place of that character – what would they think in this moment, how would they feel, what would they do? Things like that. I haven’t felt it like it was happening to me, but I do carry the emotion with me while I’m writing.
70. are you very critical of your own writing? how much do you find yourself editing (either during the writing or after the fact)?
Yes. I edit a little bit while I’m writing, but I primarily do that after the chapter is drafted. My main goal when writing is to just get everything on the page and then go back and fix it.
71. how do you balance writing and life? do you ever feel overwhelmed by the amount of writing you have to do?
I don’t push myself too hard to write on weeknights if I’ve had a long day and just want to lay on the couch, but sometimes I use writing to unwind. I also tend to write more on the weekends since I have more time. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed, but I remind myself to just take it one word at a time.
73. how do you visualize scenes? do you see it like a movie in your head, or do the words just flow?
I do see it like a movie! Which is great, but then in editing I have to go back and add more detail because sometimes when I’m writing I’ll put something like “x does this, then this.”
91. how has your writing style changed over the years?
I’m still a pretty new writer, but I would say that in the course of the past year I have gotten more confident in my own style
2. talk about a notable time a narrative or character has looked you dead in the eyes and said “fuck your plan, here’s what we’re actually doing.” AND 29. give us a spoiler for one of your stories.
When Aly and Aegon got together! The ballooning word count is what made me first begin to rethink it, but I also think that it just seemed to make sense for it to happen when it did. Originally they didn’t get together until after Helaena was pregnant with Maelor (who will exist in this story).

Ya got any rants stored up? Long-burning hatred?
i FINALLY found one i’ve been holding onto this ask waiting for the opportunity.
i HATE how people treat people with anxiety disorders. it’s endless pity mixed with complete incompassion
like ok. obligatory i have generalized anxiety disorder here. a lot of things make me stressed and when i’m having bad anxiety attacks (which can last days and sometimes put me into month-long spells of misery) i get physically sick, to the point of throwing up and fever. i also tend to go nonverbal/low-verbal during these periods of time (usually bc i’m nauseous.) i’m also very prone to migraines and have a tic and wear a night guard due to jaw clenching etc etc you get the point it affects me.
when i share these symptoms with people (assuming they don’t have similar symptoms) i get a lot of frowny faces. “owh i’m sorry :( that must be awful how horrible“ and the like. and it’s never said in a way that’s actually kind. it’s said in the way people talk about those aspca commercials. and it’s never actually come from a place of genuine concern- it’s superficial pity apparently meant to placate me. i hate it
and that’s assuming i even get that reaction at all! usually when i try to explain to someone that i’m experiencing symptoms of some sort like “hey i’m sorry i can’t really be productive right now, i’ve got a lot of brain fog” i am ALWAYS dismissed. EVERY time. maybe it’s because i’m quite skilled at coping and masking. maybe it’s because my panic attacks don’t (always) look like wailing and thrashing and choking on air. but for some reason people don’t seem to understand that yes my anxiety disorder is actually disabling for me sometimes. i will ask for an accommodation i need, be compared to someone else with different needs from me, and then be told i need to just suck it up and deal with it. and i am SO! TIRED! OF! IT!!!! the amount of times i’ve told people “hey please don’t say that to me i’m prone to paranoia about xyz” and then been yelled at because “it’s not that serious take a joke” is ABSURD. hey maybe stop telling me my cough is covid bc now i have to spend the next 3 hours reminding myself that i don’t have any other symptoms asshole!!! jesus
and THEN when i actually DO find a way to cope or utilize the way my brain works or god forbid crack a fucking joke about it people get mad at me. “see i knew it wasn’t a big deal” or “so you’re actually fine” or “that’s not funny” i am. so tired of it
and then i go online and see people saying that disorders like anxiety and depression have been destigmatized and we’re treated basically the same in neurotypical society. motherfucker i did not go undiagnosed for 17 years with several doctors telling me it “wasn’t anything to worry about” despite my family history and clear signs from a young age just to be told my disorder is respected. if i say my anxiety is a disability i get called dramatic and am told to stop taking attention away from people who need it- or not to call it a disability because “it’s not that bad” and i’m fine because clearly having a disability makes every second of your life miserable of course of course. hell anxiety is demonized too! not as badly as many other illnesses but it’s still demonized!!! if i tell people “hey i have anxiety so please be careful with xyz” they act like i just asked them to let me do anything i want without consequence. there’s literally a whole fucking stereotype of people using “anxiety” as an excuse to be lazy or an asshole or entitled. as someone whose anxiety manifests in depressive spirals (freeze response) and rejection sensitivity (doom spiraling) this is Not Great!!!!! like i am hypervigilant about enough things i do not need to add “will these people get mad if i explain how my brain works” to the list
and about the rejection sensitivity. i HATEEEEE when people judge me for crying because they’re upset at something i’ve done wrong. “mars if you’re in the wrong then you’re not the victim” who the fuck said i think i’m the victim???? i cry because my brain takes “can you pls stop doing this it genuinely bugs me” and turns it into “you’re a horrible person how could you do this to someone they hate you.” but just because that happens doesn’t mean i’m not capable of rational thought!!! i KNOW realistically that my friends are good communicators and share that stuff because they like my company. i just need to cry about it as well. that doesn’t negate my logic or say i won’t actually try to improve myself. i’m just upset that i made the mistake. obviously i’m gonna fix it. that one REALLY pisses me off esp when i warn someone in advance that i do that. like calm the fuck down i’m not even pointing out that i’m crying rn this isn’t about me stop making it about me.
ANYWAYS. it’s really frustrating to deal with this shit from nts and then go to an online nd space for community and hear people talk about anxiety disorders like we don’t face ableism. just because it’s quieter doesn’t mean it isn’t there. that AND the “it’s barely an issue” girlie i was told i wasn’t disabled enough by doctors my whole damn life i am NOT about to start hearing it from you too. you can drown in the ocean or a swimming pool or a puddle. doesn’t fucking matter. the hypocrisy irritates me so bad
#ask#ghost#marzirants#i am sick of being told i’m normal and then getting yelled at for being myself#if anyone is an ass on this post and doesn’t consider the context or nuance within i will kill :)#anywho thx ghost. that one’s been simmering for a but#a bit* whoopsies#once before i got dxed i was trying out a new therapist#and after an in-depth explanation of my fear around driving and the built up shame i had from still just having my permit#she told me to ‘just get in the car and drive’#girl do you think i didn’t try that. my whole issue is that i can’t ‘just’ do it i was hoping we could work on the THREE MENTAL BLOCKS there#anyways i never went back to her. i still seethe a bit when i think abt it#anywho. sick and tired of being denied help and then chastised when i survive anyways#like yeah i’m alive. be a lot FUCKING better if you just gave me a hand though#but noooo because i’m not falling apart in front of you clearly i’m dramatic#tbf i have an incredibly high pain tolerance and have been an expert masker since i was a child#but still. not all disability is visible asshat. am i supposed to be able to function on my own or not why is there no right answer#anywho i’ve always felt a lot of connection to those with chronic fatigue#probs bc we both have deal with ‘it’s not that big a deal’ or ‘you’re being lazy/sensitive’ or ‘just suck it up’#not to mention constant anxiety is EXHAUSTING. fight-or-flight takes up so much energy dude

Good evening,
I’ve recently gotten the urge to write a fanfic. One of the urges where I can’t help but tell a story and so far I’ve really enjoyed planning it out. If I end up putting it up on any platform it would be the first fic I’ve written.
My main worry when it comes to writing this story is that once the planning stage is over and I start writing that my spark of inspiration will disappear. As a writer, is there anything that you do that helps you keep your motivation up when you don’t particularly feel inspired or motivated to write?
P.S. as an only child who is also entering the stage of my life where I will be moving out of home within the next year your post from a bit ago was beautiful to read 💗
P.P.S. Lumos has quickly climbed into my top fics of all time. It is so lovely and has made me feel so many different emotions over the course of reading what has been put out there, you’re doing a great job! Try not to stress we are ready when you are! (Keep up the great work, sorry if that was a lot)
Have a good weekend!
I have very little idea of how long this has been sitting in my inbox, so I do apologize if you've been waiting for a while. <3
"My main worry when it comes to writing this story is that once the planning stage is over and I start writing that my spark of inspiration will disappear. As a writer, is there anything that you do that helps you keep your motivation up when you don’t particularly feel inspired or motivated to write?"
This is an excellent question. I'm about to speak on this as if I have some measure of authority, but please keep in mind that everything I know is based on occupying my own, fickle head. You might be very different.
A spark of inspiration is a key in the ignition of a car you are still learning to drive. [Each story is its own car, for the purposes of this analogy. There is a certain amount of relearning where the boundaries of the vehicle are, how to park in tight spaces, and how to maintenance it with every project.]
It is what propels you into motion, but it can't be the sole driver, or you'll run out of fuel. Here's where things get weird.
People are different. What motivates one person will be boring and a chore to another. You live in your own head. Take out a piece of paper and mark down five things that make you feel excited or engaged with work.
Here are some of mine in no particular order:
Friends who like to chat about it. [This doesn't have to be many people, and in my case, it's most often the same individual or two, but these people are vital in helping me process my thoughts and work through issues when I have them.]
Music
A sense of purpose [I find a purpose or two for what I'm writing, and I write for that purpose].
Workspace cohesion [odd, but I find it motivating when my reference materials/dictionaries/thesauruses and desk are all neat and tidy].
Experimentation and exploration [writing something new, trying something different, testing a technique, etc.]
Life [Going outside is important.]
Word smithery [harder to rely upon, but when a nice phrase comes together, I get a burst of excitement.]
There are certainly more, but those are just some examples. Those things help add fuel. Inspiration, if tended, can create more inspiration. The more you talk about it, work on it, and fight through blocks, the more ideas will come to you. When you see or hear something that fascinates you, turn that concept over in your head. Think about how that concept might look if presented differently. Consider what might happen to your characters if they faced something similar or related. Form a bank of textures, sounds, emotions, plants, animals. When a kitten hooks its claws into your favorite set of denims and you feel that mix of exasperation and affection--bottle it. Find a place to mark it all down.
Write down every idea you have. Even the ones that don't quite suit the project. There will be other things they might fit with in the future.
Read bad writing and read good writing. Pull apart your favorite stories and find out why you like them. Don't shy away from writing what you love. In fact, try to always write what you love. Leave the other things as you can to people who love them better.
Some people like to plan what they write in detail before they carry it out. Some people like to choose milestones that they connect--scenes they're looking forward to writing that are then stitched together with in-between bits. And some people function best by pants-ing through a plot and editing it later. There are pros and cons to each of these.
If you have lost the motivation to write after planning before, you might try one of the other methods. Sometimes, the joy of an initial exploration of something is enough to push you a good bit of the way through a solid first draft.
But it's not all that. There will inevitably come a time when you approach your writing and you have nothing, and you don't feel like digging for it or waiting for it to come to you.
That is when you sit down and write anyway. Even if it's rubbish, you have to think to yourself, "well, what logically comes next," and then you shovel gunk up into the shape of where you're going, and then the cogs get unstuck, and suddenly you're on your way.
*Important note on that last bit: sometimes, mental and emotional energy reserves grow too thin. In those cases, taking a bit of time to recharge is important. If you push too hard for too long, your engine will get upset at you, and suddenly a problem that might've been solved with an oil change is a lot more complicated and difficult to address.
But if you find yourself thinking, "I've had a break, I think I'm okay, really, and I'm still feeling stuck" sometimes the answer is just picking away at your keyboard until something happens. Put your music on [or don't], lock your phone in a box, and set a timer for fifteen to thirty minutes. Count your words at the end of it. That's a quantity of words you didn't have before [even if they are bad. Let them be bad. We don't care about that just now]. If you feel capable of another round, then go another round. If you feel like your brain is crawling out your eyelids, then step away from the computer and take a break to fold laundry or wash dishes or walk your dog. Think and talk aloud about the project as you go, if you can. Even if there's no one to speak back to you. It helps. This little exercise can help you stretch and relax into a more workable mindspace.
The mind is a muscle, and you have to train it like you do any other kind of sport. You can't expect yourself to run a marathon if you haven't trained for it properly. So, have patience with yourself, and celebrate every milestone. [Doubly so if you have a hard time focusing, or have little free time or emotional energy to spare].
Everyone will tell you to take time for yourself or to grit your teeth and write anyway. Recognize that you will have to learn to find that balance for yourself, and that you deserve to celebrate when you make smart choices, there.
Schedule your writing time, and put something fun to do after it. I highly recommend writing in sprints, as it takes the jagged teeth out of getting into a writing session you're intimidated by.
Also, sometimes, when it's been a while, things come slower than they once did. Sometimes you worry that you've used every word in the universe in every possible combination [which is certainly not true]. In those cases, look in the mirror, and say, "So what?" and keep going.
There are eight billion people in this world. Art is rarely original; originality is not what gives art value.
Connection does.
So that's my final tip: When overwhelmed, write what you'd like to read. There are certainly people who have similar tastes. You will write far more effectively for them than for a conceptual audience you do not understand but wish to impress.
Thank you so much for reading, and best of luck with your project!! <3<3<3

Hey Jenn. I saw your answers about Twitter and stuff. But if someone isn’t a published author yet and can’t announce an offer until everything’s signed, what are they supposed to do on Twitter? Or even on their website? What would be on it?
Re: social media, I think you misunderstand the point of it if you think that the only things to say on there are things about your book. In fact, promoting your book is probably the LEAST amount of content you'd be doing. What do you do on there? MAKE FRIENDS. Be social. Talk about books you love. Follow authors and publishers and cool librarians and such. Crack jokes. Support and boost other authors -- so when you DO have a book, they will want to also support and boost you.
Here's a post from the FAQ with some social media newbie tips.
As for a website: Before you are in the "gonna be published" stage, it's less important. But it wouldn't HURT you to establish something now, so when you DO have more info about your books, you have something already set up and easy to add to.
Think of it like a business card. It can just be a simple landing page if you want -- something that has, say, your bio, a bit about the kinds of things you write, links to your social media and a way to contact you/your agent. The point is, it's nice if you have SOMETHING, so you know you own your domain name, and so if somebody googles you they might FIND you, and so that you won't be starting from scratch when your life becomes even more busy and hectic.
Then when you HAVE books to talk about, you add a page about your book(s), with the jackets and info about them and pre-order / buy links. If you want to do school visits or what have you, you add info about that. You add a press kit, etc. All info about you and your books lives here in this one place, easily updated and added to.
Again - this isn't anything you have to really worry about doing before you are even agented -- but by the time you have books under contract, this should FOR SURE be a thing that exists.
Trust me when I say: Time will begin to accelerate and "oh this doesn't come out for a year and a half, that's forever" will become "MOTHER OF GOD THIS BOOK IS OUT IN FOUR WEEKS WHAT DO I DO" before you know it.

What is Health Insurance?
Health insurance, also known as medical insurance in India, covers you against the cost of medical care related to illnesses, injuries or accidents. You can get this cover in exchange for an affordable annual premium that you must pay regularly.
You can cover yourself and your family for in-patient hospitalization, pre and post-hospitalization, annual health check-ups, ambulance expenses and many other costs. We let you customize your cover and strengthen it with Add-ons, so you get a policy that’s just perfect for you. Every health insurance policy tells you which medical conditions and treatments are covered.
There are many types of health insurance plans like Individual Health Insurance, Family Floater Health Insurance, Senior Citizen Health Insurance, Group Health Insurance, Critical Illness Insurance, Top-Up Health Insurance, etc.
Who should buy Health Insurance from Zuno General Insurance?
It’s advisable to buy health insurance plans online no matter what your stage of life you are at!

Commitments – A stage where you want to protect your beloved family members - your spouse, children and parents. A comprehensive health insurance policy is a MUST to have at this particular stage of life. This is the stage where you aspire to meet your personal and professional goals. That’s why, for a smooth ride where you don’t face any financial roadblocks, go for a health insurance policy.
We have plans where there is no co-pay or sublimit, and we offer attractive discounts like single premium discount and family discount. You don’t have to worry about the Sum Insured getting exhausted, as there is enough individual cover for each and every member of your family.
Legacy – After investing most of your life in something meaningful and important, it’s time to live in comfort and security. We have health insurance plans for seniors, where along with the base cover we also offer cover for AYUSH, organ donation, critical illnesses and many other medical assistance services.
Professional – Employees covered by corporate insurance may get their minor hospitalisation covered by these plans. But what happens when you retire? At that point it gets really difficult to get a health insurance plan, as the chance of having any pre-existing condition at a later stage of life is way higher. For such people, we have Top-Up plans.
Value Driven– For those seeking for affordable yet value-filled plans, we have the Arogya Sanjeevani Policy where you can get well covered at a lower premium. We also offer voluntary co-pay in our flagship plan, where your premium gets reasonably lower, and you have to bear only a small part of every claim.

Why should you buy Health Insurance?
Buying a health insurance policy is a must-do task that is often neglected. If you’ve thought ‘I don’t need it’ or ‘I’ll do it later’, read on.
Air pollution is a silent killer that claims 7 million lives a year, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). But it’s particularly harmful to young children because they breathe faster, meaning they take in more pollutants, and their bodies are still developing. This can cause childhood cancer, increased risk of heart diseases, diabetes and strokes when they grow up. India is called the Diabetes capital of the world. It’s estimated that by 2045, India will have over 134 million Diabetes sufferers. Type 2 Diabetes will account for most of these cases, and can lead to multi-organ complications.
There will be a steep rise in the cost of medical care (14% medical inflation in India in 2022). The average size of claims has increased to almost Rs 85,000.
There’s an increasing number of 18-34 year olds involved in road accidents. Most people of this age are totally unprepared for large medical expenses.
Most employees think that their company-provided medical insurance is enough. But these medical insurance plans come with multiple sub-limits, room rent capping and co-pays.
As much 6-7% of the population may suffer from mental disorders in India. The Insurance Regulatory & Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has mandated mental illness to be included as a cover in health insurance.
4 out of every 10 Indian adults (18 to 69 years) are physically inactive. Sedentary lifestyles can lead to early onset of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and stroke, which account for 71 per cent of global deaths each year
It is essential to stay covered when you get older, to make yourself financial independent and not be a burden on your children.
Most of the insurers offer complimentary annual health check-ups, helping you monitor your health and take timely action.`
A typical Health Insurance Plan comes with Tax Benefits under 80D as per existing regulations by the Income Tax Department of India.

an independent roleplay blog for hokuto no ken's jagi; with verses based in final fantasy, resident evil, modern / realistic aus and more. a study in jealousy and hate - a life lost and the exploration of the sadness beneath sociopathy.
ambition tearing out the heart of you, carving lines into you
[ carrd ] | [ main ] | [ ask ]
001   This is an independent roleplay blog for the character of Jagi from the manga / anime / game, Fist of the North Star aka Hokuto No Ken. Obviously, this character doesn't belong to me. The character of Jagi is a mean, villainous character and his backstory has a good amount of triggering content. Please keep this in mind when interacting. This blog is 18+ (adults only) and low activity.
002   Triggering content that you can expect to see frequently on this blog will be violence, murder, aggression, blood and general fighting / battle themes. Sexual content will be present, as will consensual-rough sex. Explicitly dark themes such as rape / sexual violence / dubcon etc, will be alluded to in terms of backstory but not necessarily written. Everything will be tagged. Example is - 'tw.triggerhere'. I, myself, have no triggers.
003   Mun's name is Han, you may know me from such blogs as 'cwarscars' (a badly written attempt at a military general in a fantasy world) and 'mencnfire' (a multimuse attempt at some veteran type characters who all have issues). Are you noticing a theme? Lol. I'm 29, work full time and like to do all sorts of stuff so I wont be super active. I'm pretty friendly and very chilled out, discord is available on the carrd - just tell me who you are if you add me please.
004   This blog is low activity; primarily because I work full-time hours and have other stuff going on outside of the online world. Generally, I like to restrict myself from being online too much. It's never anything personal if I'm not online, don't reply to a message or favour one thread over another. I just have limited time to work with and am terrible at messages. I do like communication, but I also appreciate realism, understanding and patience. I give exactly what I expect of partners. Be laid-back and just have fun!
005   Generally, I prefer longer threads and planned threads. I will do the odd starter or random thread about random thing, but I love a good, juicy, well-thought-out thing. If we're going to plot, I love to have a beginning, middle and end. They are my favourite kinds of threads to write. I don't like too much exposition and prefer a slow burn when it comes to all manner of relationships etc. I can't be bothered to use icons and fancy formatting gives me migraines, so I'll just stick to standard small text.
006   In terms of character / shipping. I base my Jagi's backstory off of his story in Jagi Gaiden. If you're not a fan of HNK / barely know it, don't worry - Jagi has a tonne of verses I have thrown him into and I am more than open to writing a new verse to base around our muses! Regarding shipping - I am open to it! But keep in mind that Jagi is a sociopath and a dangerous murderer. As you can imagine, I'm willing to write most kinds of ships, be they romantic, dark, family, dark-romance etc. However, Jagi will not sexually assault or rape your muse. I've got ten years+ of writing villains under my belt and people trying to force that on you is never enjoyable.
007   Please don't block-evade, hound me for replies, do any creepy shit like stalk my blog / discord, talk shit etc. This is a weird, slightly vague rule but I'm just not down for the high-school side of the RPC nor am I down for the weird things such as block-evading and the like. Please don't pretend to be someone you're not to me (as in, literally pretend to be another person), it's very unsettling behaviour.
008   I have approximately minus interest in getting involved in any slapfights between pro-ship & anti-ship content. I believe in freedom of expression and am anti-censorship, but I also believe that people are allowed to be unsettled / turned-off by certain content. Generally, I'm open-minded but also do my best to be respectful. As said previously, stuff is tagged, dark content will be written, but I also have limits and I respect others' limits, too.
009   My main blog is CWARSCARS and generally, I'll be over there. I just needed to get the rascal that is Jagi off of my chest for a little while as I replenish my writing juices (gross lol).Have fun and I hope we have good rp times! :-)

5 Effective Techniques for Managing Anxiety
Tumblr media
Anxiety is a common mental health disorder that affects millions of people worldwide. Managing anxiety can be difficult, but it’s important to find ways to manage it effectively. As a psychiatrist in Bhopal, I have seen many patients who struggle with managing their anxiety and worry about how they will cope with daily life. Here are 5 effective techniques for managing anxiety:
1) Exercise regularly: Regular physical activity helps reduce stress hormones such as cortisol and adrenaline which can cause feelings of anxiousness or panic attacks. It also releases endorphins which make you feel good and help take your mind off worrying thoughts. Aim for at least 30 minutes of exercise per day – this could include walking, running, cycling, or swimming – whatever works best for you!
2) Practice relaxation techniques: Relaxation exercises such as deep breathing and progressive muscle relaxation help relax the body by releasing tension from tight muscles throughout the body while calming down an overactive mind filled with anxious thoughts. Practicing these regularly helps build resilience against future episodes of anxiety when faced with stressful situations like exams or job interviews etc.
3) Talk to someone: Talking through your worries & fears is one way to gain perspective on them; talking therapy sessions (such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)) provides an opportunity to do so in a safe space where there's no judgment involved. A professional therapist may also be able to suggest strategies tailored specifically towards helping manage your type & level of anxieties more effectively than if done alone.
4) Get enough sleep: Sleep deprivation increases levels of stress hormones making us more prone to feeling overwhelmed by our emotions - leading us into spirals of fear-based thinking cycles - whereas getting adequate amounts of restful sleep has been scientifically proven time again restore both our physical & mental wellbeing back into balance. So make sure you're getting at least 7-9 hours every night!

5) Challenge negative thought patterns: Negative thinking often leads us down paths that we don't need to go, so challenge those self-defeating beliefs whenever possible; try replacing them instead with positive affirmations that remind yourself what matters most in life, focus attention on things within control rather than letting spiral out events beyond control, practice mindfulness meditation, learn stay present moment without judgment. All these small steps add up and create big changes in terms of overall quality living!
About the Author:
Dr. Mitali Soni Loya the best lady psychiatrist in Bhopal with more than a decade of expertise in treating mental health conditions, including stress, anxiety, depression, addiction, schizophrenia, and much more. She aims to offer holistic treatment and help her patients compassionately. Over the years, she has successfully helped numerous patients overcome their mental health problems.

Musings on how a fiat currency government can afford social programs
I've been thinking about this for a while, and it's incomplete, but I have this idea on how we can "afford" programs like healthcare for all, universal childcare, etc.
The basic premise of this thought is to change how the Fed and Treasury determines where taxes and new money comes from, and how the money can be removed from the economy.
Currently, money is completely imaginary. Like, it always was, but previously when money was based on gold and silver reserves, it had some measurable limit. When we left these standards, there was still a limiting factor of minted physical money. Like every dollar had to exist somewhere, even though it's value (even when it was backed by gold or silver) was imaginary. It still had to have a physical form.
Today, most money is just digits in a spreadsheet.
As a result, money can far more easily be created and destroyed, and this mostly happens when a bank borrows money from the government to allow someone or a business to borrow money for some project like a startup or a house or what have you.
I would change this paradigm, or at least modify/add to it. That's a big part of what I haven't worked out yet.
What I have worked out is this: all value comes from only a few things. First, finite resources. If you need water or soil or iron, there is only so much of that, and based on what you can do with those things, value exists. Next is the perceived value of something. Like Beanie Babies or whatever. The final source of value is human effort. The time each person spends changing one thing into another, or working with each other to change something in someone's life. Like massages or knitting.
To me, this effort is an untapped resource in the sense that we don't assume this value at the beginning. Yes, people get paid to do work, that's obvious. But we don't assume this value as a principle *before* that work is done.
I would change this. How?
By getting rid of personal income tax, and generating necessary revenue for government programs based on predicted need.
That is to say, there are certain things we know a person needs over their lifetime: schooling, food, healthcare, death. Pregnancy, period items, breast and prostate exams. Food and shelter and clothing. Everybody will need these things at some point. So why not, instead of forcing folks to work to hopefully cover these predictable, inevitable costs, build these costs into the system for those things we all agree we need? Just by being alive, you generate funding necessary to cover those needs.
Now, we have to be careful about how we define needs. Like, for food you're not getting your favorite dish from that fancy restaurant around the corner. It's going to be the cheap stuff. But, you can still work to get a cashmere sweater or a hospital room to yourself. You work for luxuries, but never have to worry about the minimum things you need just to live.
The question is always how do you pay for it, and my answer is because you exist, the money exists. For each person who lives in the US (and qualifies, because there are limited physical resources), enough money is generated to provide services at the bare minimum to keep you alive and allow you be safe and be able to make choices about your life.
Instead of charging income tax at the end of a year of work, and forcing individuals to save enough to pay for those taxes (or sacrifice future income for those taxes), everyone submits how much they made in a year from their work. If you didn't make any money, then the minimum amount needed to cover your bare minimum living needs are generated by the system to cover those needs. If you earn enough to cover your own needs, then that money doesn't need to be generated, but additional funds would be generated based on how much you earn over that minimum. Some percentage (similar to the current taxation rate) is generated to cover other governmental expenses. The idea being that few people are going to want to barely scrape by on the bare minimum to live, and their desire for comfort and luxury will continue to push the economy. However, nobody starves, nobody dies from lack of care, everyone gets education, etc.
From what I understand, this would address the main concern regarding creating runaway inflation, in that the money put into the system would match the potential total output available, or be a little less. It would remove the burden of both taxation and tax filings for the individual. And it would guarantee funding for any services while still allowing for a healthy consumer economy and an incentive to inventors and entrepreneurs to make new fun things for the world.
The question then becomes, how do you remove money from the system when needed? That would be done through business taxation. Businesses would still need to file taxes, but would no longer be obliged to pay for social programs or employment insurance. Since bare minimum needs are baked into the economy, if a company goes under or someone is fired, they have a safety net. There might be room for some kind of corporate insurance for those who are in a sweet spot of making enough money that losing their job could be a problem, but not so much that they can easily save to cover themselves in such a scenario.
But companies would no longer be on the hook for healthcare, retirement, that sort of thing. That said, there would still be taxation that would pay for the bare minimum things. Instead, this money would be used for things that benefit everyone buy in theory we could survive without. Things like the military, government research, food safety inspections, etc. We wouldn't *want* to live without them, but for the individual, having a military would eventually be a problem but would not be strictly necessary for daily living.
Corporate taxation would be the mechanism by which money could be removed from the system if too much goes in from funding bare minimum programs. It would also be a balance against the lending system, which would still exist and still create money as it does now.
The main changes would be ending personal income tax, which would be replaced by a mandatory simple reporting of income earned (and possibly hours worked); and an automatic complete funding of all programs that address the basic, predictable, bare minimum needs of each person who is a citizen or otherwise qualified individual.
As I said at the top, I haven't worked it all out. But it seems to me that shifting our thinking from "you have to earn it" to "it exists because you exist" could solve a lot of the problems of hunger, poverty, homelessness, etc.
Problems that are not solved by this are things like how immigration might change with this system; what kinds of controls might be needed for the birth rate; and depending on how those issues are addressed, how to anticipate issues of scarcity that could exist if there were a population boom. To whit, how to avoid not having enough food if there are too many people in the system, for instance.

5 Key Benefits of Metal Roof Coating
Metal roofs are among the most popular roofing types. They have become quite popular over the years and are commonly installed in both residential and commercial buildings.
While metal roofs are sturdy, there may be chances of leakages. Especially if your metal roof is basic and treated only with simple paint, you need to consider a metal roof coating.
So, all you need to do is contact a roof coating specialist to get metal roof coating for your building.
Want to know why adding a special coating to your metal roof is a good idea, just go through the benefits of metal roof coating discussed in this post.
Why is Metal Roofing Popular?
Metal roofs are durable, environmentally sustainable, and long-lasting. Moreover, they do not require too frequent maintenance. So, you can save a good amount of money in the long run. The initial cost of metal roofing is higher than other types of roofing, but it becomes a more cost-effective option in the long run.
While metal roofs are value-for-money, some of their shortcomings are a turn-off for many. For instance, the expansion and contraction of the metal can affect the life of the fasteners, and the insulation offered by metal roofs is not good. However, with metal roof coatings, it becomes possible to eliminate certain shortcomings.
While you can easily find a roof coating specialist like TMI Coatings, it’s important to get the best roof coating products to reap maximum benefits.
5 Benefits of Metal Roof Coating
Spending money to get your metal roof coated with specialized materials is a sound investment due to the following benefits:
Improved Waterproofing
One of the main objectives of a metal roof is to minimize the impact of weather conditions on the building. For instance, preventing water from entering directly into the floor is one of the primary reasons for installing a metal roof.
Normal wear and tear and the lack of proper installation may cause water to seep through your metal roof. This can affect the strength of the building as well as the living conditions inside the building. Many rubber-based coatings for metal roofs add an extra layer of protection while sealing off the existing holes or cracks.
Extended Life
Coating available for metal roofs slows down the wear and tear of the roof, thus extending its life. The coating material acts as a protective layer to prevent issues like rusting, material degradation due to UV absorption, etc.
More Energy Savings
Coating materials available in light color tones reduce the number of sun rays absorbed by the metal. Thus, the temperature of the space beneath the roof will not rise drastically. As a result, there will be less need for cooling in that space. It eventually reduces energy consumption and enables more savings.
Environment-Friendly
Many metal roof coatings materials put minimal damage to the environment when they are disposed of. Also, they provide extra protection to metal roofs and enhance their longevity. Thus, your metal roof will go to landfills after an extended period of time.
Less Need for Maintenance
High-quality metal roof coating materials can last for several years while saving the metal from excessive wear and tear. You do not worry about carrying regular maintenance of your roof as metal roof coatings are designed to reduce the need for maintenance.
Wrapping it All Up
Metal roof coating has become increasingly popular due to its ability to protect the metal and increase the overall life of your roof. Better waterproofing and insulation from the outer environment are added benefits of metal roof coating. If you want to get the best metal roof coating, you should hire a roofing contractor such as TMI Coatings and use the top-grade roof coating materials offered by RoofProtect Products.

Post-pregnancy care for you and your baby
Tumblr media
Motherhood is that phase of your life which is known as “the birth of a new life and rebirth of a mother”. Yes indeed, this phase of life is all about the major change that happens in a woman right from changes in hormones, muscles, weight, skin, hair, strength, energy, organs, bones etc.
It is never as easy a journey as it seems to be and comes with lot of sacrifices and patience. A woman’s body starts this change from 1st trimester and continues till at least a year of Child birth. Post which things start resuming back to normal.  Here are a few Post Pregnancy care pointers which is must for a mother and baby
Getting 100% rest:
Prepare your mind for this during the journey of pregnancy and ensure there is zero compromise on recovery phase and the ample amount of rest needed for the body. After all the aches and pains, one needs to listen to the body and allow it time to recover. This is achieved with proper rest.
