Katsuki Bakugo x shy!Reader

a/n: more mha since it's fresh in my brain TwT- also! i have a request I am working on!! if you have any more, feel free to send them to me! i also can answer questions if you have any :]

Katsuki Bakugo

Katsuki had invited you to hang out with the two of yours's group of friends, the Bakusquad. Mina and Denki had it all planned out: all of you would meet up in Katsuki's room at six o'clock PM (6pm) and play card games, eat snacks, drink a little bit of alcohol (at least until you all got tipsy), and overall have fun.

"I dunno, Katsu..." You had replied to his 'invite', knowing well you could only handle so much social interaction in one day.

"If you need to leave, just give me the word. I don't care if they'll miss us, you're more important to me. But at least try." His words were soft, not pointed like they usually were. It made you sigh and nod your head.

You all met up and began the festivities that night by playing Uno. The usual events were happening; Katsuki yelling at Eijirou and Denki for supposedly cheating at the game; Mina and Hanta dominating the game; you were watching it all unveil.

You had noticed your anxiety beginning to spike as you spoke less and less as the night continued after the game was over. No one had really taken notice of this, besides Katsuki who held your hand for a moment, looked you in the eyes, and let go, continuing on talking to Eijirou. It wasn't until Mina asked you a question that things began to go downhill.

"Hey, (Y/N)! Do you want a drink? We've got whiskey, tequila, wine... we could probably go find something else if you want?" She tilted her head to the side holding her own glass of wine.

"Uh..." you paused, unsure of what to say. It was a school night, and you probably shouldn't be drinking in the first place. But would they think you were lame? You had known all of them for a few months since you started dating Katsuki, but there was still a possibility. "N-No thanks, I'm alright-!"

Denki scoffed, "Lame!" but swiftly murmured an apology as Katsuki smacked him upside the head. Everyone laughed but you. You were stuck in your own head. Of course, you were lame. How could you fit into this group? You shouldn't have even come, you knew this would turn out badly. You knew-

"I'm turning in for the night with (Y/N). You guys continue," Katsuki announced to the group, standing up and walking over to you. He held out a hand for you to grab and pull yourself up. You did and he led you to the door, still holding on. No one protested and simply said goodbye. "You looked spaced out back there. You probably didn't realize it, but you were shaking. You do that when you're anxious," he didn't look at you and instead keep his gaze forward as you two walked down the hall to your dorm room. "They're annoying as hell. Don't beat yourself up about it, babe."

You smiled and leaned your head into his shoulder. When you finally reached your door, you opened it, pulled him inside, and kissed him softly as you shut it behind you. "Thank you, Katsu. It means the world to me."

He grumbled and kissed you again.

a/n: i’m actually so sorry this took so long to post- it’s been sitting in my drafts for like a month and i just had no motivation to write. at first it was gonna be a handful of characters x reader (separate) and then i narrowed it down to three and, again, had no motivation, so i just cut it off to bakugo. i still hope you enjoy this and hopefully it won’t happen next post :) also, refer to my oc post bc i may make a post about them <3

You’re the one who is always there to take care of him when he goes dumb

You’re the one who is always there to comfort him when he feels like an idiot

You’re always the one who is there for him

And he’s always the one who is there for you

It’s been that way for years

Ever since you transferred to UA your second year of high school

The two of you became fast friends

Best friends even

And his flirty nature made it so it wasn’t too long before the two of you entered a real relationship

The two of you EXUDE the most chaotic good energy that even Bakugou finds it kind of endearing

But unbeknownst to his friends

Denki can get really fucking serious when it comes to you

It lowkey shocked you the first time you saw him act like that

And it was all because you were sparring with him and you tripped over your own damn foot and face planted

You figured he’d just point and laugh at you but he ran over and checked you EVERYWHERE to make sure you weren’t hurt

But you lowkey LOVED it because like

Of course that was in your final year at UA

The two of you are now pro-heroes at separate agencies

And boy oh boy does Denki worry about you

He can’t help it

He has seen you run into a wall because you were trying to rely on scent instead of sight “in case you get stuck in a dark room with a villain”

He worries

But he also knows you are strong

And also a hot badass who can take on anyone

Well

Almost anyone

Midoriya could probably kick your ass but that’s just because it’s Midoriya

But in all seriousness

He isn’t even patrolling today

He has the day off actually

And Denki has never baked anything before in his life

But

He knows that there’s been this mysterious villain giving your agency some trouble recently

So he wants to make you some of your favorite cookies

Or at least try to

And then have a lil movie night

He’s a clingy little shit

And he wants to destress you so

He will refuse to let go of you for the rest of the night goddamnit!

So there he is

Taking the semi-burnt but still edible cookies out of the oven

His favorite program on in the background

When suddenly

His show gets interrupted

And the hero scanner the two of you have goes off in your living room

He immediately turns his attention to the television

Stopping in the middle of the kitchen

Still holding the cookies

When he sees live footage of you falling from a 3 story building

Onto concrete

He drops the pan

And literally sprints out of the door

He doesn’t even have shoes on

But he doesn’t give a single Fuck™

He rushes down the stairs of the apartment building the two of you live in

And gets to his car in record time

Mans be speeding to the hospital he knows you’re gonna be at

You two had a plan in place with each other and your agencies that if anything would happen to either of you

You would both go to this specific hospital so you two could know where the other was at all times

Of course he was crying while speeding

And his heart rate was way too fast for him to be functioning

But he had to get to you

He had to

And he did

He pulled into a parking spot reserved for pro-heroes and ran inside the emergency room

When he asked about you the nurse told him you were currently in surgery for some severe bone breaks

He got a nasty taste in his mouth

But he just nodded

She told him he could wait in the waiting room

And he did

He sat down in a chair

And he was trying so hard to keep it together

Hard

But eventually Kirishima, Mina, Sero, and even Bakugou showed up

To be fair

Mina and you did work at the same agency

So she saw everything that happened

They immediately went over to him

And he looked up at Mina

And deadass this is the first time any of them see how genuinely serious Denki can get

He asks Mina what happened

And she hesitates

But his face is dead serious

There are obviously tears leaking out of his eyes

But his stare is wildly intense

And Mina knows that if she says no he’ll just keep asking or ask someone else at the agency

So she tells him

“Well… we were patrolling, like usual, when that villain that’s been keeping us on our toes showed up. They’ve never… done anything other than rob people and knock them out so we thought hey this should be easy. Especially since (Y/n) was there. When they saw us they ran into a building and we chased after them and when we had them cornered on the roof they did this weird… sneak attack? But not really? I don’t know it was… odd, they had this like patterned fight technique and they hit (Y/n) in a few different places, and she went to use her quirk to fight back but… nothing happened… and then they hit her like at the bottom of her skull and she just… fell down unconscious. And then they… threw her… off…”

She started trailing off at the end because a sob tore through Denki’s throat

And then he started hyperventilating

Luckily Bakugou and Kirishima were there to help him out

They get panic attacks frequently, so they managed to calm him down and get him to breathe again

And they stayed with him for as long as they had to

Eventually after hours

A doctor came out and approached Denki

“Pro Hero Chargebolt?”

He stands up very fast

He’s informed that you are out of surgery

And that the surgery went well

However they noticed something odd in your MRI results

It seemed that a portion of your brain was damaged?

But not quite

It was still functioning

But something about it was off

And they had never seen anything like it before

It was like certain parts of your brain were blocked but everything else was fine

Upon hearing this Denki’s heart broke

And then after hearing the part of your brain that was impacted was the part that contained long term memories

His heart shattered

“We’re afraid she may have severe amnesia. We’re going to keep running tests to see just what is going on, we think it’s the quirk of that villain. A lot of the victims of their crimes have blockages in their muscle groups, but we’ve never seen a blockage in the brain from them.”

Denki is quiet

He literally doesn’t say anything

Until he whispers

“Can i see her?”

The doctor nods

And he leads him to your room

You’re still asleep

And you’re covered in bandages and casts

It breaks his heart

His friends texted him to tell him they went home but if he needs them at any minute that they will be on their way to the hospital in ten seconds flat

He appreciates it

But right now he really just wanted to be alone with you

He just sat next to you

Holding your hand

He was even moving your pointer finger to trace the Lichtenberg Figures trailing up and down his arms

You always do it when the two of you are cuddling at night

It helps him sleep

And reminds him that you love him regardless of his faults

And right now he just

He really needs you

This goes on for an hour before he feels you start to move

And he freezes

“(Y/n?”

You open your eyes

And squint at him

“Uh… h-hi… aren’t you that guy in my new class…?”

He stares at you

Completely deadpan

Before laughing a bit

But it isn’t a happy laugh

It’s very much a sad laugh

“Yeah. Yeah, I am.”

“Cool, but um… how did you know my name already?… Are you crying?”

Yes

He was

He was laughing and crying at the same time

He probably looked like he was losing his mind

But he really did just lose his whole world so

It’s a prompted reaction

“Yeah. Yeah, I am.”

His voice was more strained this time

“Are you… are you okay?”

“Yeah, but you’re not. And I didn’t save you, and now you don’t know who I am, and I’m just… I’m so sorry, babe. I’m so sorry.”

The laughing stopped

Now he’s just sobbing

In your mind

You’d seen him a few times while touring the school

And he was always laughing and smiling

Always

So this was shocking

And you’d be lying if you said it didn’t tug on your heart strings

You instinctively reach out to grab his hand

And he grips onto it so tight

Almost like he’s afraid of letting go

“…You called me babe?”

He tries to even his breathing

But he nods

“I don’t… I don’t even know you, I-”

“You do. You do, but… you don’t. It’s… it’s complicated and I’m a literal dumbass so… I’ll call a doctor. They’ll explain.”

And that he does

And the doctor does in fact explain

And after the doctor leaves

You ask him to tell you about your relationship

And he does

He tells you even the smallest details

From the time that you painted the nail on his right hand middle finger pink because he lost a bet and he ended up liking it and buying nail polish for himself

To the time that you two told everyone you break danced all night to break in your new apartment when in reality he turned on Lover by Taylor Swift and the two of you slow danced in your living room

All of it

And he even managed to slip in the fact that you’d remember all of this after he caught the villain who did this to you

And he will catch them.

✧ Sickly sweet Yachi fluff 😌 I love this adorable girl, lmk if there’s anyone else ya wanna see me write hcs for!

Warnings: None! Just fluff and gender neutral reader, but I’m pretty homo and it’s pretty self indulgent ngl

✧ Yachi really loves to have baking dates with you! She finds so much joy and peace in getting to turn on some music and create something you both enjoy.

✧ ^ She’s especially a fan of the muffins you two like to experiment different flavor combos with, but she isn’t the biggest fan of cleaning up the mess- especially when you two get a little too rambunctious and have a flour throwing fight in the kitchen,, again.

✧ Movie nights in a pillow fort with snacks surrounding you two? I think yes. Yachi loves to cuddle up with you on your shared days off under the warm covers and binge watch anime and your favorite films.

✧ Yachi adores coming home after a hard day of work to your massages. She never asks you to rub her shoulders, but the lovesick smile she sports and relaxed sigh that leaves her lips let you know how much she appreciates the sweet gesture.

✧ If you’re still in school, she is more than happy to help you study whenever you need it! She’s very encouraging and sweet, and having her calming presence near you makes it much easier to get done. Bringing you a tea and a snack after a few hours of work, reminding you to take breaks- she’s so thoughtful.

✧ She loves to make you smile, so she occasionally buys you pretty flowers, snacks she knows you enjoy, and other little things on the way home from work just to see your reaction and surprise you!

✧ Decorating for holidays or moving in with Yachi? Sounds like a dream. You may have to help her reach stuff occasionally though

✧ She’s a big cuddle bug and hugger, she just loves to show you affection. When you first started dating she was always nervous about initiating affection, but over time it just became second nature.

✧ ^ Nose boops, gentle hugs, sweet hand holding and soft forehead kisses are some of her favs.

✧ Once, back in high school, she made you a playlist that was a combination of songs she’d listen to while doing her manager work for the volleyball club or homework, drawing her posters, and sprinkled in a few songs that reminded her of you <3

✧ Made you a mini version of the Karasuno flag as a patch to put on your bag or keychain!

✧ ^ She has a matching one with a note you wrote on the back for her about having fun and being safe, she reads it when she’s anxious!

✧ Speaking of matching, you had matching friendship bracelets before you started dating that you both still wear!

✧ You both enjoy dates, some favorites are trips to aquariums, hidden beaches, and simple cafe dates!

✧ She adopts a cat! A sweet little calico you two name and care for together <3

a/n: ngl i listened to the Giselle act II pas de deux on repeat while writing most of this, so filled with sorrow and despair, yet still strangely hopeful. it hits different with this fic yall. also huge thank you to the lovely @jmeyerss for beta reading this for me, you a real one ily. still kind of hate it, i’m not proud of this piece haha

Keigo knew that you were the one, but he was never quite sure how to tell you that. The man knew that in selfishly loving you he had put you in danger and he knew that he didn’t deserve you. Even so, he couldn’t bring himself to leave that love behind. It was something so wonderful and dear to him that he had never felt before, and he knew he would do anything to protect it.

He also knew that you worried for him constantly. You were both pro heroes, but his hero work often seemed much more taxing and treacherous than yours, from what he was allowed to tell you.

But even so, you had stuck with him. You stayed by his side even when he told you not to, you stayed with him in his lowest moments, when memories of a dark past plagued his mind. When that happened, and nothing felt secure in his head, you were always a constant. His adoration of you always stayed the same.

This is what he thought of as he lay battered on the hard wooden floor after his battle with Dabi. Even with wounds littering his body and blood caked to his skin, you were the only thing he could think of. Even with the life slowly flickering out of his eyes, he desperately hoped that he’d get to gaze upon your face one more time. But he supposed that was wishful thinking now.

You quickly made your way through piles of rubble that filled the area around you. The hero costume you wore had definitely seen better days and you had multiple wounds left coated with blood, but none of that mattered to you. The only thing that was running through your mind was finding Keigo as soon as possible.

You and the other pro heroes had won the battle against Shigaraki and the League of Villians with the help of the Yuuei students, and now, you frantically searched for your lover amongst the wrecked buildings surrounding you. Your voice had become rough from yelling Keigo’s name in a futile attempt to gain any type of response from him.

You had still remained hopeful that Keigo was ok, but that hope quickly began to dwindle as you peeked your head through the door of a nearly demolished building. Your eyes widened at the scene before and your heart dropped. Keigo lay battered in the middle of the room, his body littered with burns and open wounds and his brilliant vermillion wings were no longer proudly perched upon his back.

You shook yourself out of your shocked stupor and dashed towards him, trying your best to not to trip over the rubble from an obvious destructive fight.

“Keigo! Keigo please, can you hear me love? Please please you have to talk to me!” your voice had already began to shake with emotion as you fell to your knees and cradled your lover close to you.

Keigo’s eyes weakly fluttered open to meet yours, and as they did he found the smallest bit of energy to give you a frail smile, a stark difference from the ones he usually gave you.

He mustered up the energy to quietly speak to you “Hey there baby bird, are you okay? you kinda look like a mess.”

you rolled your eyes brimming with tears and gave a small laugh as you placed your hand to the side of his face. “Of course, you’re here covered in burns and blood and you say i’m the mess, how very Hawks of you.”

He let out a soft laugh which quickly dissolved into a fit of coughs, to which your eyes filled with worry and fear again.

“Hey hey, you’re gonna… you’re gonna be alright ok? i’m going to find help or- or- god I don’t know, please, what can I do to help you Keigo?”

His somber eyes gazed into your grief-stricken ones. He could tell you were still trying to keep a strong and calm front, but he knew you too well. He knew that there was sorrow screaming behind those eyes, and he also knew he wanted nothing more in that moment than to see your eyes filled with joy again.

But unfortunately, he had the sense you wouldn’t be feeling any joy in this moment with him.

As Keigo’s heartbeat began to reluctantly slow, yours only sped up as you began to panic even further.

“Hey baby please, you have to stay awake ok? You can’t leave, you can’t leave please! I’m begging you, stay with me!” you pleaded with him frantically.

“Hey, birdie, you know we can’t do anything, alright? We knew this was going to happen eventually, and i’m so sorry that this is how you have to see me before i go.”

You shook your head and screwed your eyes shut at his words. “No no, stop it! you’re going to be just fine, someone’s going to come help us and- a-and we’ll go to the hospital and you’ll be ok! You c-can’t leave us like this Kei, you can’t leave me like this! I-I need you, please!”

His slow-moving heart began to break even further at your words, but he knew that there wasn’t anything either of you could do, so he did his best to reach an unsteady hand up to caress your face,

“I love you so much birdie. You’re going to be alright, ok? Promise me that you’ll be ok for me, I just want you to be happy, even if I won’t be there to see it.”

You let out a broken sob and paused before weakly nodding your head. you leaned forward and desperately kissed keigo, in a final show of how much you treasured and loved him, before you never got the chance to again. When you pulled away from him you tearfully gazed into his eyes as they began to close.

As Keigo’s body became limp in your arms, you began to weep freely into his still chest and distraughtly grab onto him. You looked up to see his jacket not far from the both of you, and you reached over and grabbed the jacket to drape over him. As you did you heard the slight crinkle of paper from one of the pockets.

Through your tears, you dug through the pockets of the jacket only to find a slightly crumpled letter inside. You examined the paper to find your name written in familiar handwriting on the front, handwriting you may not ever get to see again, and you shakily broke the red wax seal to unfold the paper and read the contents it held.

‘Dear birdie,

I know I’ve never really been the best with talking about my emotions, so I figured I might write this because I want you to know how much I really cherish and love you with all of my heart.

I never ever in my whole life thought that I would find something as precious as you, and I never thought I would be deserving of you either. Most days I’m still shocked that you’ve stuck with me all this time, but I can’t begin to tell you how thankful I am for that. I never thought I would love something as much as I love you. I have felt freer with you than I ever did in the sky and safer with you next to me than with my wings around me. You’ve really completed me and made me a better person.

I promise, that when all of this war stuff is over, when we’re safe, I will buy you a big house that we can live in together. We’ll grow that garden that you’ve always wanted, and we’ll fill it with the most beautiful flowers that you’ve ever seen, flowers that remind me of you. I’ll make sure your favourite tea is always stocked and I’ll never start a new tv show without you. I promise, we’ll be happy together.

I love you, so much birdie, please never forget that.

You held a shaky hand over your mouth as tears coursed down your face at the words held in the letter. You draped your body over Keigo’s and threw your arms around his shoulders, as you pleaded for him to come back to you.

“Kei, please, please we can still do these things right? You said we would create a garden together, you promised! We can still be happy, please!”

He was gone and you knew this, but you didn’t want to accept it. This was the man you desperately wanted to spend the rest of your life with, to wake up in the morning with, to live a wonderful life with. But loving him had always been treacherous, and you hadn’t cared, but you saw now that perhaps a happy ending was never in your future.

i have read (and reread) so many good fics recently-

man, people are just so talented. i wanna share the good reads with all of ya’ll, so im making a lil rec list! i’ve included rating, main ship (but many are not ship-centric), any aplicable TWs, title, author, and what i liked :) these are all bnha, but i will make a non-bnha list soon too

★ A Demolition boy & his Cryptid BF - kewltie (T | bakudeku) ngl i was kinda iffy to read this at first. the idea just didn’t appeal to me as i don’t usually like youtuber AUs. but BOY am i glad i read this!! it’s so freaking funny and cute, and also super well formatted. that last thing is mega important because i cant STAND badly formatted social media fics, but this was so clean looking and streamlined. i just super loved it

★ Sonata for Two - Ohiknowlotsofthings10 (G | tododeku) OH MY GOD. this really just hit all the spots mmm it was so incredible! i absolutely adore music AUs because im a musician, but i’ve literally never seen anything about classical or instrumental/orchestral music. i absolutely love all the description and detail in this. also the dynamics are fucking spot on. basically its cute, well written, and emotional. this was SO GOOD!!

★ Kids - ReminiscentRevelry (NR | no ships) wow this was like the cUTEST THING EVER- ugh, baby class 1A just hits super different. there’s not much else for me to say except that this is absolutely adorable and i may or may not have literally cried from cuteness overload after i read it. dadzawa reigns supreme!

★ a fairytale with a few plot holes - anonymous (E | todobaku | rape/non-con, parent/child incest, child neglect, psychological trauma) this is one of the darkest things ive read in a long time. it’s so incredibly fucked up, but SO incredibly good. like, its obviously very trauma/angst heavy because young shouto is literally getting raped by his dad, but i love angst so... yeah. very fucked up. once we get to the todobaku, i... beyond words. beyond. words. it’s not rushed at all, they have to take their time and work each other through trauma. it’s very beautiful and just... damn. so well written and engaging.

★ lights up and they know who you are - futurehearts (T | kiribaku | non-graphic suicide attempt, discussion of suicide) VERYVERYVERYEVRYEVRYGOOOOOOOOD!! if you’re in the mood for a really, really fucking good future fic, this is like one of my go-tos. i’ve read this so many times - its very engaging. like, once you start reading, you physically can’t stop until it’s done. i so rarely see a well done vulnerable bakugo, but this fic absolutely NAILED IT on the head. marvelous work, beautiful, awesome, lovely.

★ Starlight - gliteringeva (T | dabi(touya)hawks) THIS. THIS RIGHT HERE! this is the fic that got me balls fuckin deep into the actor AU. i feel like its SUCH a hard AU to really do well, and this fic absolutely does that. it’s very, very detailed, but not to the point where it feels like a ‘how to act’ manual instead of a fic. does a greeeeat service to the ‘secret relationships’ trope. it really showcases how complicated that can make a relationship, how it can fuck things up, but that is possible to fix it. just very, very good. like one of my ALL time fave fics EVER. jeez i cant even verbalize it. just... read it. like now. go on. shoo. (also ALL of eva’s dabihawks is just... ugh it has me absolutely gagged. go read it all.)

★ Lessons Learned - Sif (T | familial Best Jeanist and Bakugou | child abuse) yes, this is another one that made me cry. i ABSOLUTELY had zero idea that dadjeans was even a thing. like, no clue. but now im addicted. this is one of the most unexpectedly good reads i’ve ever had - not because i didnt expect to like the writing, but because i didnt expect to like the whole concept lmao. but oh BOY was i proved wrong. this made me feel so many things... i also usually despise the ‘abusive mitsuki’ hc for many, many reasons, but... i couldnt bring myself to hate it here. it was very well done. this fic is just very good, and emotional, and wholesome. if you like family/found family fics this should be at the top of your list.

★ Thus With a Kiss, I Die - DomineeringScarves (T | shinkami) this was the book that inspired me to write how to get a bf. jeez man, idk where to start. this book is so well done. im an absolute feen for Shakespeare and id just gotten into shinkami when i found it, so this was like hitting gold. jeezzzzz. just... so well done. beautiful characterization, wonderful writing, accurate ass dynamics, romance that made me go OH MY GOD... this book has it all. like ALL. (also absolutely read Caged too. a+ dabihawks) (also??? the tumblr cursor on their blog drops FUCKING SPARKLES???)

★ I Would Understand - deafmic (T | familial Aizawa and Shinsou | child abuse/neglect) AHHHHHHHHHHHH. that’s the opener to this review. i absolutely adore anything and everything deafmic puts out, and this was no exception. Shinson and Dadzawa are, like, one of my favorite bnha dynamics ever, and this does them SO MUCH JUSTICE!!!! this fic made my cry and smile repeatedly so fast i think my face is deformed. very good fic if you want to Feel Things. shows just how much Shinsou idolizes Aizawa and how in turn Aizawa really cares a lot about him. one of my favorite Shinsou-centric fics of all time.

★ Written in the Stars - Ichesmia (M | shinkami) A Really Very Good band AU. again, im a sucker for well executed music/band AUs, and this was some good ass food. like GOOD ass food. obviously im a sucker for shinkami, and this is the fic that put the nail in the coffin for me. also incredible dynamics, both in and out of relationships. the whole band feels like a big family and it just makes me wahhhhh. i seriously laughed my ass off, cried my eyes out, shit my pants, swooned, sighed, and did everything else while reading this. one of the best shinkami ANYTHING ive ever gotten my hands on. absoLUTELY read it if youre looking for bakusquad as well - the friendship is real in this one.

I hope you read these and enjoy them as much as I have! Also consider reading the other stuff the authors have to offer - these people are some of the most talented writers ive gotten the pleasure to read from :)
