A new study on mice suggests the cause of Alzheimer's disease may not be the buildup of beta-amyloid clumps in the brain but rather breaks in the connections (synapses) between brain cells.
By manipulating the natural processes of RNA editing in mice modelled to reflect Alzheimer's symptoms, researchers prevented the connections in their brains from breaking down. Memory was restored without removing the protein clumps that are thought to cause the disease, suggesting damage between neurons was a critical problem.
The finding provides a new understanding of Alzheimer's disease and an approach that could potentially address memory loss in Alzheimer's patients.

You can rewire any part of your brain anytime you want, down to the last dendrite. You can even delete and create new dendrites.

A scale from the Linea Lateralis (lateral line organ)
Some fishes have a row of tiny scales on each side of their body, which works as a sensory organ, detecting vibrations in water. The little hole in the middle of the scale let the water penetrate under the scale, into a tiny canal which conducts the liquid in contact with the external structure of a sensory cells' group, connected to a nerve. The impulse that the nerve record depends on the pressure of the fluid : it can detect very low pressure variations, which allow the fish to perceive movements of other fishes around or to regulate its own swimming speed.

Boop!
They are my OCs <3
Check the " #The headspace" on my tumblr!
Someone's headspace can look vastly different from someone else's! Mine personally is an office building! But some else's could be a school, a circus, anything! Anything that helps reflect themselves and express what feels right ;P
These are the big dudes,
Anger (her job is to protect)
Left brain (intellectual one..big boss)
Right brain (also known as "heart", also also doubles as "the body")
Anxiety (her job is also to protect and keep herself healthy to keep the host healthy)
The brains are mainly the BIG big dudes.
There are also those who work under them!
the only ones Ive draw for now are the Braincells and the Vessels but there are also:
Braincells(Brain)
Vessels (Heart)
Muscles(Anger)
Nerves (Anxiety)
The Core Memories :3
They double as "core memories" but also "ages"... A core memory is created by the beginning of the year, but can split if two or more BIG changes happen to the host.
Andd extra characters <3
We have
Judgement ( also doubles as Duality and Morality)
Her Jury (the ones who work under her)
The Pastor (also doubles as spirituality, beliefs, and religious trauma)
And we have entities who became "disorders"
Depression or "Muerte" (was "Sadness" in the past)
Envy (was "Jealousy" in the past)
Those who become disorders are not inherently bad! Anxiety is technically a disorder!
But while Anxiety is occasionally given to a nice mental hospital, there are some who were abused in an asylum that just made them worse.
The doctors in those hospitals are representations of meds... Anxiety basically got the meds that worked for her and envy and depression didn't.

I’ll never quite understand why people leave hate on fanfiction.
As someone who has been writing fanfiction for 11 (almost 12) years, I’ve had my fair share of love and negativity in the comments. Nobody requires you to read it, nobody prevents you from ditching a book you don’t enjoy. There’s nothing that forces you to engage with a piece if you don’t want to. If you don’t like it, don’t read it.
Leaving rude comments on pieces is so silly and incredibly disheartening. Myself and many many others share our work with you for free. We take suggestions, requests, ideas, and share our talent for no cost, no contingencies except for perhaps a follow and engagement on posts.
Quit leaving shitty comments on someone’s hard work that they chose to share with you; I’m not talking about constructive criticism or pointing out typos, those are totally fine if the author welcomes them.
Just please be kind to each other, especially across a digital screen.

Happppy birthday Clem!!!!! (HUGGGS)
I hope you have nice plans (on top of this fun event!)
I'm super interested in the character association thing - who would you put me with? I've never done one before so I'm all yours, baby! 🤣 Also very happy for you to include men, I am often told I have some masculine energy about me, which is fine.
Additionally!!! I just want to remind you how sweet and wonderful and funny you are - your posts and dialogues between other users always make me smile. Thanks for being here ❤️
OMG HIIIIIIII!!!!!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU I AM SENDING YOU BIG BIG HUGS !!!!
lets get to business.
LGG you truly wholeheartedly give me full Thor energy. Maybe a sort of Tony Stark...? Mostly Thor
in the kindest way possible you both are the kind of people to say the most batshit crazy stuff ever with the most straight face and its hilarious. you both radiate comfort and so so many silly fun vibes!!! you're both the kind of friends i would go to if i a) needed someone to kick ass for me or b) someone who can shove away my worries with a whole bunch of laughter and crazy ideas.
the Tony Stark energy comes from the also loud wild ideas and the big ambition vibes. idk to me Thor and Tony are the guys who would get along really well had they had the chance so your vibes just stick in their perfectly.
there's some Loki vibes but thats probably because you're as stunning and beautiful as he is (did you see that. smooth ass pick up line...mr lgg watch your BACK.)

I'll never forget the dementia patient I had a few days ago, who was cussing out the two paramedics I was with because they were moving her from her bed to the stretcher, but when she saw me, who was just standing there holding the stretcher steady, she said "aren't you just a charming young man" with the biggest smile on her face and she was sweet as pie for the rest of the ride
