and I apologize
Sometimes you're sad, and you tell me it's nothing
And I brush it off because there's always something
But I need to change my perspective

Brandi Carlile and Lori McKenna performing “Crowded Table”. _______________________________ Crowded Table Songwriters: Lori Mckenna, Natalie Hemby, Brandi Carlisle
You can hold my hand when you need to let go I can be your mountain when you're feeling valley-low I can be your streetlight showing you the way home You can hold my hand when you need to let go
I want a house with a crowded table And a place by the fire for everyone Let's take on the world while we're young and able And bring us back together when the day is done
If we want a garden, we're gonna have to sow the seed Plant a little happiness, let the roots run deep If it's love that we give then it's love that we reap If we want a garden, we're gonna have to sow the seed
Yeah, I want a house with a crowded table And a place by the fire for everyone Let us take on the world while we're young and able And bring us back together when the day is done
The door is always open Your picture's on my wall Everyone's a little broken And everyone belongs Yeah, everyone belongs
I want a house with a crowded table And a place by the fire for everyone Let us take on the world while we're young and able And bring us back together when the day is done And bring us back together when the day is done

Maren Morris Live Preview: 8/10, Huntington Bank Pavilion, Chicago
Tumblr media
BY JORDAN MAINZER
What does it mean to be on a humble quest? That’s the question Maren Morris asks throughout her third major label studio album, out earlier this year via Columbia Nashville. Going into it, you might think it referred to Morris dedicating time to causes beyond herself, activism she’s always dived into headfirst, especially compared to the rest of Nashville. But Humble Quest makes the case for life itself being the true quest. Recorded during a bout of postpartum depression following the birth of Morris’ first child, and written as her longtime creative partner Michael Busbee was passing away from cancer, the album is a tribute to the things that eventually carry us through, expected and unexpected.
Humble Quest is bolstered by the contributions of Morris’ partner Ryan Hurd, who co-writes and provides backing vocals. It’s his life contributions that are the greatest muse for the album’s best songs. “The Furthest Thing” is a piano-tinged duet about the struggles of long-distance marriage; anybody who has gone through even momentary unrequited or unattainable love can relate. “I Can’t Love You Anymore” is a wordplay-heavy dissection of Hurd’s Midwestern politeness versus Morris’ Texan panache. And a song like “Background Music” is truly layered; though its romantic main refrain goes, “I’ll love you till all that we are is background music,” it’s the idea that Morris and Hurd’s music could eventually become background music that’s absurd, rendering the song a biting rebuke of the popularity-obsessed industry. How could they treat the person who truly has written circles around that town?
Ultimately, life goes on. “What Would This World Do?”, a poignant piano ballad dedicated to Busbee, closes Humble Quest.  Emotional centerpiece “Hummingbird” was written the day Morris found out she was pregnant with her son. By the time she recorded the album, he was talking and in the studio, and his voice introduces the gorgeous acoustic folk ballad. All in all, Morris welcomes the wrenches thrown at her, good and bad. “I don’t mind a detour,” she sings. Such is the mission statement of a humble quest.
Singer-songwriter (and fellow member of The Highwomen) Natalie Hemby opens; you can be sure she’ll come out to join Morris on a song or two.

would love your country music recs!! been trying to get into the genre but haven’t really listened to a whole bunch and would love some suggestions <33
YAY thnk u for reaching out. um most of these artists i havent trawled their entire discog but each has some things i really really love. many of them explore serious topics such as addiction, discrimination (racism, homophobia, sexism, classism, etc), and more (like a lot of less commercialized and more traditional country music does).
its important to note that there is a lot of crossover in country, soul, blues, americana, and folk, so some artists might be more leaning to one of the other genres but their relation to the country style compels me to include them.
i will also say that afaik these are mostly modern artists because nothing makes me fucking angrier than people saying that new country music isnt good. please pull yourself out of the country billboard top 100 for the love of god.
ok here it is: > yola (one of my faves, lots of crossover with soul in her style) > brandi carlile, maren morris, natalie hemby, and amanda shires are all good individually and are part of a collective called the highwomen (theyve collaborated with yola several times!) > robert finley (i could cry with how much i love his work, sharecropper's son 2021 is just fucking. perfect) > john fullbright > rhiannon giddens > gillian welch > shakey graves > charley crockett (his work all feels so fresh and unique to me, i never get sick of it) > courtney marie andrews > brown bird (one half of this duo has passed on so they havent made any new music since then, but i still suggest checking them out) > mary gauthier (drag queens in limousines is a total classic) > the war and treaty > sturgill simpson > allison russell > paul cauthen (he's collabed with orville peck, who im sure a lot of people here know! if not i rec him too ofc) > emily nenni > john r miller > lucette (shes had work produced by sturgill simpson iirc) > the secret sisters (very dear to me) > katie pruitt > shovels & rope (<3) > parker millsap > margo price ( i love her i love her i love her i love her what can i say. thats how rumors get started 2020 changed my life) > kaia kater > robert ellis (less familiar w him but i like what ive heard) > jaime wyatt > arlo mckinley (another artist i havent checked out extensively but ive heard good songs from him and like his voice) > the chicks (forever and ever <333333333) > amythyst kiah > mercy bell > justin townes earle (who has unfortunately passed away in recent years, i think 2020) > waylon payne > the devil makes three > evil > jason isbell and the 400 unit
i also dont want you to think i dont want people to listen to classics, i do. i love classic country music — if you havent checked them out, id especially recommend john denver, charley pride, dolly parton, willie nelson, hank williams, johnny cash, the carter family, glen campbell, kitty wells, robert johnson (hes blues, but hes mississipean blues and has influenced country music through and through), patsy cline, judy collins, waylon jennings, and marty robbins.
this isnt comprehensive but its what comes to mind right now. i hope it was helpful!!! <3

So for this drawing I took the colours from an album cover (Puxico by Natalie Hemby) to create my colour palette and then drew Sebastian. I’m not entirely sure whether I like how it turned out and can definitely see some flaws but it was nice to draw again (since I’ve been too busy to draw)

10 Songs from my Top-Songs 2022
Because using my favourite songs on Spotify produced nothing useful, I'm shuffling my Top-Songs 2022 Playlist
All The Things She Said (t.A.T.u.): great song to ironically listen to and then at some point not so ironically actually like it
It Gets Dark (Sigrid): I could be happy until the end of my days with a playlist of only Norwegian female singers: Sigrid, Astrid S, girl in red, Resa Saffa Park
Breath In, Breath Out (Alice Merton): According to Spotify she is my top artist of the year which I believe
Watermelon Sugar (Harry Styles): I guess you can guess who my favourite in One Direction was
Formen der Liebe (Inga Humpe): Eldorado Kadewe, my beloved, @frauv would probably describe this show as very aesthetic (certain scenes from it)
If She Ever Leaves Me (The Highwomen, Brandi Carlile, Natalie Hemby, Maren Morris, Amanda Shires): I was not aware, that so many people where a part of this song, beautiful and strong song
Head on Fire (Griff, King Princess, MØ, Sigrid): A song with King Princess and Sigrid? A dream come true!
Cursed (King Princess): I love this song and all her other songs so much, they cause me pain. All her songs are just so emotional or sexy or both. Genderqueer lesbian superiority!
Born To Die (Lana Del Rey): This one is a classic and I don't need to comment on it. Classic teen who feels edgy and sad music.
I Don't Know Why (NOTD, Astrid S): Sad and fun pop, I obsessed a lot over Astrid S after watching the Norwegian remake of Drei Haselnüsse für Aschenbrödel
