Finally fulfilling that long overdue promise to draw Artist!Steve. Many thanks to Brie (aka MurphyAT) for writing this lovely, magical story.

Bucky Barnes, the only domovoi in New York, could not believe those idiot kids sold their ancestral home and left him useless in its hearth. Now he had some tiny asshole invading it and tearing it apart—but even weakened, he had a few tricks that would surely scare any human off. Any human, that was, except Steve. A story of the magic in the restoration of heart(h) and home, a very grumpy and very adorable Bucky, and the tiny stubborn man he couldn't help but fall in love with.

It's hard to believe that it's over! Nine months, 90 collabs, 4,272,290 words, 561 pieces of art, 11 bars of soap, 5 podfics, and 3 fanvids later, you have made a truly difficult year brighter, not only for everyone reading and feasting their eyes and ears on your art, but for us, your mods.

When we first started throwing around the idea of putting together a stucky bang, of course we had no idea what 2020 had in store for us or all the challenges we would collectively face. We have been stunned by your engagement, your wild creativity, and your enthusiasm despite this! Not only have you all turned your energy toward creation in a year that seemed determined to suck the joy out of everything, you formed a truly supportive and encouraging community inside the bang discord and out of it, and it has been really humbling to see the friendships that have come out of this community.

From our initial idea way back in October 2019—which honestly seems like decades ago now—a truly remarkable amount of creativity has flourished, and to see the relationships that have developed from your collaborations and especially around the act of creation has been such a bright spot for us in this truly accursed year. We hope it has been a bright spot for you as well.

Many of you have asked if we have plans for a 2021 event. The simple answer is: not right now! With a bang of this magnitude and timeline, we just don’t have the energy or the time to start all over again in a matter of weeks. Plus, we have an overflowing reading list to catch up on! Never say never, though—maybe in a few months we’ll be itching to bury ourselves in spreadsheets again. But for now, your (Not) Another Stucky Big Bang Mods have no plans other than disappearing into the woods*, never to be seen again.

Thank you from all of us for being part of the (Not) Another Stucky Big Bang. This has been an immense labor of love for us, and it's truly gratifying to see the love that you, too, have put into it. You have all made this fandom (and community) a better, more creative place.

Fifteen years ago, Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes had been two teenagers in love, spending sweltering summers in Eagle Inlet, Steve's sleepy lakeside hometown way up in the Adirondacks. Sure, Bucky's rich family only came up in summertime, but they were off to college soon and they'd be together forever, right?

Not quite.

These days, Bucky's back in town for the summer and it turns out, some hurts—and firsts—are hard to get over.

... There was something venomous and fiery chasing itself through Steve’s veins, choking the life out of his common sense. He put a hand on Bucky’s waist, small and tight, shifting with Bucky’s quick breathing and he squeezed, trying to ground himself. It didn’t work. There was hardly any space left between them. Bucky’s hair brushed the tip of his nose. It was citrus and sweat and like a gut punch of memory. “We could see if I’m any better now,” Steve said. “I’ve had a little more practice since then.”

In the bogs and forests across Europe, there lives a spirit. It walks with the legs of a goat, but the head and hands of a man. In days gone by, people worshipped it. They called it many names. They feared and revered it.

The modern world brought forth the Enlightenment, the Industrial Revolution, and the forgetting of the old ways. As the 20th Century dawned, humanity began to overstep its bounds. Death and tragedy abounded. One soldier, not that different really from all the rest, thought to sacrifice himself to save the world. His body landed in a bog in Ireland. The old god of that land heard and came to answer the groaning of the earth.

That soldier then stayed. He and the old god, they watched the world grow darker and more violent. They tried to help. Eventually, they did make a difference. Eventually.
