During my first and second watch of Gotham’s Mandatory Brunch Meeting (4x17) I kind of noticed it as tiny affirmation of the fact, that Oswald Cobblepot is not a native English speaker (I explored this in my fanfiction “My Mother’s Tongue”). But actually it’s a pretty obvious pointer that Oswald isn’t familiar with a idioms, as it is not the first time this happened.
