Radiohead ֍ Myxomatosis (From The Basement) (2020)
But now I don't know why I feel so tongue tied I sat in the cupboard And wrote it down in neat They were cheering and waving Cheering and waving Twitching and salivating Like with myxomatosis
But it got edited, fucked up Strangled, beaten up Used as a photo in Time magazine Buried in a burning black hole in Devon I don't know why I feel so tongue tied Don't know why I feel so skinned alive
You should put me in a home or you Should put me down

talking a lot about rabbit meat atm. One track mind.
anyway when me and my twin were like 2 and the social worker came round to check on us as a standard checkup (my mum was effectively a single mother of three toddlers living several miles out of town at that time so in need of some support), my sibling toddled up to her as she was leaving and said very firmly,
"You don't eat rabbits what have been runned over. You eat rabbits what have been shot."
rabbits were not a topic of conversation at the time. this was an unsolicited Toddler Fact. anyway that's what I think about whenever I think about rabbit. you don't eat rabbits what have been runned over.

Facts Redux- Burrow's End
(I deleted the first one because I wasn't sure how I wanted to add on the nature facts. This will be updated after every episode/adventuring party if applicable)
Weird British Shit:
The Red Warren:
Baby teeth are called milk teeth for stoats and humans.
Stotal Recall: (Adventuring Party 1)
In the 50s, in an attempt at rabbit population control, the British government engineered a disease called myxomatosis, to which the rabbits are beginning to evolve an immunity.
Myxomatosis is also a song by famous English rock band Radiohead. (And in my opinion, it fucks severely)
Bearing the Consequences:
Unknown amount of math
A Second Sun:
They pronounce ermine, and mainly other words, differently.
Protect the Light:
57% is still considered a passing grade in the UK
The Burrito Was Achieved: (Adventuring Party 6)
British gasps are a very calm "oh, no".
Weird Nature Shit:
Bearing the Consequences:
Bears can make butt plugs out of moss. (Brennan)
A baculum is a dick bone. (Aabria)
Foxes have a baculum, dogs don't. (Siobhan)
Otters are also mustelids. (Aabria)
A Second Sun:
Ermine (noun): A stoat, especially when in its white winter coat.
The First Stoats:
Stoats are #59 on the Global Invasive Species Database list of 100 worst invasive species

why do you dislike salutations/titles? personally I would give an arm and a leg to become Dr Captn reverend etc and just keep collecting them like Pokemon
Lmao I do think sometimes itd be great fun to be The Reverend Doctor Hero 😂
It's a couple of things for me, first and foremost being that, being nonbinary, I've got limited options and I personally find Mx really ugly! It makes me think of myxomatosis lol
Further on the gender thing, I find Mx plays into a wider trend of thought which asks how to incorporate nonbinary identities into existing structures instead of rejecting those structures. I don't want a salutation that indicates that I'm nonbinary - I want us to ask why we expect to carry gender in so many spaces in the first place. Why does it matter if the hotel I'm booking a room at knows my gender, or whether this woman is married or not, etc?
I'm also riffing a bit on the Quaker idea of plain speech. Back when we used "you" to be formal and "thou" to be informal, Quakers refused to use "you" because of their belief all people are equal. There are still some Quakers who use "thou" because of this. Some would also forgo salutations because of the etymology - master and mistress, etc. So for me, avoiding salutations is also a way of expressing that egalitarianism in speech. I'm not going to doff my cap to anyone, literally or linguistically, and I don't want others to do it to me!

Day 2 of Mammal Week is Lagomorphs!
3 of 4 species found in the British Isles
European Rabbit
Brown Hare
Mountain Hare
Theres also Irish Hare a subspecies of the Mountain Hare located in Ireland
Just 2 of these species are native and thats the Mountain and Irish Hare. The Rabbit was introduced from Europe by Normans and the Brown Hare comes from Asia and was thought to be introduced by Romans. Whilst both are introduced they are considered naturalised.
Hares and Rabbits are so different they cant hybridize. Hares are much larger with very long ears and amber coloured eyes, they also dont use burrows. Rabbits however are very social and live in networks of burrows thier smaller stature is adapted for this however these social space make it easy for disease like myxomatosis to take hold.
Unfortunately the success of these species amongst other difficulties has made life for our native Hare to be a little more troublesome. The Mountain Hare is now Red Listed in Scotland. They are adapted to upland habitats where thier coats turn white in winter to aid with snow camouflage, they have big furry feet to help them shift to a whopping 45mph across the snow too. Unlike the Brown Hare the eye colour is brown they also have a white tail that lacks a black upper.
