I am on S1, E11, so I have not met any of these characters yet. But I couldn't help but notice when I was listening to Ep10, with the Vampire Hunter, that I thought to myself "This guy sounds too normal and sane so far. Something needs to come up so Jon can dismiss his statement out of hand. I'll bet he'll smoke weed" and then the guy did heroin and Jon made an off-hand comment about an unreliable account but that he had one of the team mates look into it.
And then I wondered - hey wait, when do these guys even look into background info for the statements? Immediately when they were recorded for the first time for sure for some of them, but for some of these statements, that's not possible.
Which leads me to imagine Jon is sitting in his archive office (in my head he's always sitting on the ground in front of a bookshelf, surrounded by papers, in low candlelight). Then he'll read a statement, quietly, to himself, go "hmm sounds fake but okay" stick his head out of his office, yell "Hey Tim, can you check if a guy could Jambalaya Smithosian was alive in 1926?" and there will be the click-clack of Tim googling down the hall for anywhere between 30 seconds to five minutes before Tim yells "Nah he died in 1924!". "I fucking knew it!", Jon whisper-yells, his head disappearing into his office, filled with petty glee to be able to tear giant holes in the og narrator's story at the end of the recording.
Meanwhile, Sasha(?) turns to Tim and goes "Should he really be the one archiving all the statements? He doesn't even believe in the supernatural." Tim will shrug and say "But he likes doing the voices so much. Let him have this." - "He is really good at the voices, not gonna lie. But I could do without the sarcastic tirade after the statements" - "What? That's the best part!"
What I'm saying is, Jon is the weird little hermit gremlin of the group. The rest have a regular office set-up.

I just finished 4-hour drive that was spent re-listening to TMA, and now I’m stuck here wondering, again, how Juergen Leitner used the bathroom all those years he was in the tunnels.

You guys this season is 100% about items and artifacts, this episode confirms it. It's like SCP or Control in that regard - oddities (possibly prototypes for philosopher's stone) gathered and categorized by The Magnus Institute Manchester.
This is much different from TMA where it was very specifically about powers affecting people - items they used (artifacts and leitners) were mentioned to almost always be used improperly and their endgoal was to corrupt and twist person who wielded them and people around them, they weren't instruments on their own, they were extensions of their Entity the same way an avatar is. This is not the case here because of two people specifically: Needles and The Dice guy.
The thing about avatars was that no matter if you were afriad of them or not their corrupting power and presence always affected you in some way and they themselves were some way supernaturally in contact with their Entity - this is very common Lovecraftian concept, trying to get close to those "Gods" corrupts you and warps you, subconsciously making you do their bidding thus giving you this supernatural "confidence" in what you do.
Now look at Needles, we laughed at how he couldn't make the dispacher scared and got thrown off when he realized it, but it makes sense - outside of being made of needles there is no paranormal infulence helping him, he's just unwell. Same goes for The Dice guy, he even mentions trying to "become" a type of person we would expect from a TMA avatar, the trenchoat fedora stranger making people roll bad luck dice, but the moment things go south he ditches the dice and dies at the end due to his own stupidity, can you ever imagine a halfway-there Avatar doing such a thing? All this, because they are NOT Avatars: nobody is guiding them, nobody is whispering instructions in their ears and they do not actually feed of the mayhem they are spreading.
It's the items, they themselves are victims of somebody spreading them for data - this goes back to my "it's about alchemists making prototypes of a philosopher's stone" theory. All of those people are either test subjects for specific items/locations (like class-D personel in SCP) or test subjects themselves, transformed by somebody. This also goes back to the incident at Hilltop the volunteers were a project in themselves, self duplicating each one with an odd item, this was an attempt to apply infinite monkey theorem to philisopher's stone creation.

a compilation of magnus protocol crack theories and headcanons i have made in the 3rd tma discord server
every single character is trans. all of them. that's why it's called T-magp
redcanary is actually danny stoker, he dies on an urban exploration mission gone wrong in every timeline
alice is actually transfem tim stoker, she has a different surname because she was married and divorced
canary became an eye avatar and is now dating the anglerfish
the OIAR was started by jurgen leitner? stupid idiot motherfu-
sam, alice and gwen fall into my specific headcanon camp of "idk what label they do use but they are not attracted to the opposite gender" (gay, aroace or some combination of the two)
(therefore, sam and alice could have dated for several reasons but broke up when they realized they liked each other platonically, not romantically)
jon and martin will make contact with the office by joining a game of singleplayer minecraft. don't ask how minecraft got onto the office computers. alice might have installed it, then it somehow actually worked out of spite. maybe it straight up installed itself. whatever the case, colin does not want to know

My favorite long held theory is that every time the fears branch out, the medium in which they use changes. In TMA to me especially after the final episode was thst the Leitner books was sent from somewhere else to infect that world. In the same way tapes were made to pass on infect others. And this season it's computers.
The fears breed and grow and infect through various media types.

okay so, just wanted to add my two cents on some popular tmagp theories going around, just for fun!
i dont think alice will be the big bad, honestly she just comes off as a concerned friend. she knows something, but has no malicious intent. she has the vibe of someone who unintentionally hurts someone because she wants to protect them.
it would be surprising if the cases are connected to characters or events from tma (ex. the violin being connected to grifters bone), i don't believe that is the case. that goes against everything said about the show so far.
Augustus is def Jonah. Like. Cmon. Who else would it be?? Theres no way its Leitner for so, so many reasons-
I think a lot of people are writing off of Jon/Martin/Jonah being in the computers because RQ saying you dont have to listen to tma to understand tmagp. i see that as theyll explain anything relevant from tma in tmagp, so that you wont have to listen because youll get context in the show- if that makes sense. (ex. if Jon and Martin do pop out of the computer, they'll explain how they got there, the apocalypse, in tmagp)
I rock with the “desires instead of fears” take

Magnus Protocol theory incoming:
Disclaimer: I have only listened to the original podcast once through. Binged it in the span of 2 months while playing Disney Dreamlight Valley (it was a dark time in my life, I cope how I cope). I am still hazy on the finer details and names (Bouchard's, Leitners etc etc.)
But I had a thought around TMP episode 5 and I am more convinced of it now having listened to the latest episode.
I think when Martin and Jon went through the rift, they went to an alternate universe, but also an alternate TIME within the universe.
And in the timeline of the Magnus Protocol as we are listening to it, they are both either older than when we left them, or long dead having lived for years in this current world.
The evidence we have is their voices on the computers. I did initially wonder: "wait, have they been turned into A.I voice programs by the horrors?"
But it's far more likely that they made each recording and put it into this old analogue system that could handle and contain the records without glitching.
Which would mean the Institute (Office of Incident Assessment and Response) as it currently exists could have been established by Jon and Martin, or at least they took part in setting it up in an attempt to prevent what happened in TMA from happening here. Yes, they brought the horrors through, but they can contain them. Keep the records random, screen young people for some kind of study (not sure what that's about yet) and then hire a bunch of casuals to sit around on shifts and catalogue the recordings to feed The Eye. But keep them vague, rotate staff in and out frequently and make sure none of them can become The Archivist to repeat the ritual.
Gwen mentioning time travel study feels important.
The Magnus Insistute was destroyed in this universe, which feels like something Jon and Martin would do, to prevent history from repeating.
Gwen being a Bouchard could be a coincidental throwaway, red herring style, because Elias Bouchard wasn't innately anyone special until the horrors marked him. Gertrude being alive in this universe feels important and is another indicator that history in this world is different than in TMA.
I think we're supposed to think this world is different because it's an alternate universe but I am convinced Jon and Martin made changes to try to fix the timeline.
My question is: Who's watching? We know we only ever hear security footage and people's mobile phones secretly listening to them and in the most recent episode a tape switched on in the burnt down Institute to record Sam and Alice digging around.
We are listening. We are still avatars of The Eye. But I have to wonder if Jon is off somewhere, unable to keep his eyes off things, making sure nothing is going wrong...
Will come back and eat my words if I'm wrong!

Alright Mag fam holy shit
1800's? Merchant selling evil artifacts? A murder instrument that turns any event into a death disco? A new voice on the PC's?!
So much going on!
I've been very vocal about trying to approach Protocol as a clean slate, basically just to not travel down alleys of pointless speculation based on events that, as far as we know, didn't happen in THIS timeline. However, saying that...
That was BIIIIGGGG Slaughter vibes huh? Grifter's Bone is almost begging to be the pull here. I think it's safe to say that there will be some overlap with some aspects, I mean otherwise why even connect it to the Magnus universe to start with if not? Hmm.
Augustus? No clue. I deffo thought it was motherfucking Jürgen Leitner at the start, but I kinda lean towards to Jonah Magnus theory already. Would be fun.
Klaus? Pfft fucked if I know.
Why is Alice so stressed about anything Magnus related? Perhaps she was one of the message boarders mentioned in ep2? Or she just knows shit. Tbh, it wouldn't surprise me if she somehow turned out to be a bad guy. Throwing a Bouchard in almost feels TO OBVIOUS?!
Tumblr media
I'm just so happy to be here at THIS stage of Protocol. I got to Maggy Narchive after it was already over, so any conjecture I had was basically kept to just me spouting shit at my partner who'd already completed it.

ALRIGHT IVE BEEN HOLDING ALL OF MY INSANE AND DETAILED THEORIES INSIDE FOR FOUR MONTHS AND THEY HAVE GROWN AND FESTERED INTO SOMETHING ENTIRELY THEIR OWN AND I’M MAKING THEM ALL YOUR PROBLEM NOW HERE WE GOOOOO
okay so anyway my current main theory is that Jon Martin and Jonah got schlorped into this other reality along with the fears but the way it happened led to EITHER their weird entrapment in mostly digital media (a lá the Leitners), which ALSO led to Jon and Martin and Jonah also getting stuck in whatever this equivalent of collecting fear-based stories shit is. So obvs they’re those three voices Norris (Martin), Chester (Jon), Augustus (Jonah) (Jon and Jonah are ENTIRELY guesses at present - if it is Jonah he’s the one with the v pretentious-sounding name for SURE tho) I have forgotten what those names are. Apologies.
Anyway I think it’s a weird fusion of whatever the Web was attempting with that website that collected stories, AND the role of the archive AND the creation of the panopticon by a man who was VERY. DEDICATED. TO. SORTING. AND. CATEGORIZING. So they’re collecting data, archiving stories for the Eye (Jon is still the Pupil and the Archivist, after all), but Jon and Martin prolly wanna help. Categorize. Give these people a fighting fucking chance. If I think about them too hard rn I’ll have an emotional breakdown so that’s a post for another time.
But anyway. The forced categorizing (dolls, watching / dolls, skin / all the subcategories under “Reanimation”). The voices reading them out. All of the computers and cameras and mics recording all these convos between the employees. The organization whose job is just reading and filing supernatural data and stories accurately which is important for some reason that no one can really understand or explain. Hahaha. Sounds familiar.
Anyway I’m obsessed with all of these new characters. I’m so excited to spend all of the time with them!! And be terrified of the horrors that are gonna come after them!!!!

magnus protocol ep 4
ive got some thoughts
spoilers for the magnus protocol ep 4 (duh) and the magnus archives next!! scroll past if you intend to listen, it's sooo good! ♥♥
tbh i did expect augustus to be Jonah, and initially agreed with every theory that accepted that, but hearing his voice, idk??? it really does sound similar to Leitner. even though he's LONG dead now.
i brainstormed some possible answers & their explanations:
1a. supporting Leitner: I dont like this one much, but it could make sense that the Leitner of This Particular Universe met the same fate as Sergey Ushanka in MAG 65. Maybe he was pursuing an "organization" of the horrors similar to our Leitner's library? Idk.
1b. Leitner: this one is even worse -- maybe, in the death of Elias's body, Jonah took Leitner's body as his next vessel? idk...... i hope it's not Leitner.
2. Jonah: it could make sense that All Three of Them were transported and given the ole Ushanka Treatment by the universe. especially if you consider the possibility that Jon was also recently dead due to being stabbed by Martin.
the voice is just unfamiliar (to us) bc it's his first body's and not Elias's anymore.
3. Jon: I love the Jonah theory and truly hope that's what it comes out to be -- but! I also very much LOVE the idea of An Older, All-Knowing and All-Seeing rugged Jon that Martin is driven away from due to his complete MADNESS... essentially another Jonah. idk. just Horrors. and in this case, its similarity to Leitner's voice could be because Leitner is literally voiced by Jonny Sims' (the writer, not the character) irl father!
that's all. im so very excited to continue The Magnus Protocol!
I was fixated on TMA for 4 years and it was finally ending.... but protocol really brought me back into it. id like to draw my headcanon designs soon! 🖤

Good evening gents, I have been going through the Magnus timeline to try and figure out what may have changed in this scenario of The fire in 1999 killing everyone in it/destroying the institute and it’s very interesting to me so here is some things I’d like to share with y’all.(please share your opinions on these things as well)
•Michael Shelly was sacrificed to the spiral around 2009-2011 and he was most likely hired around the 1980s or 90s (this is a educated guess) which suggests he was most likely one of the casualties taken in the fire, it’s sad because he would’ve been so young but kinda happy he probably wasn’t sacrificed lol
•this also means Michael was never distorted and also probably Helen never was either, there is evidence of a spiral creature similar to them though in MAG 8 so I’m curious to how The Spiral as a Entity will exist in the Magnus protocol
•in 2006 Abelard Dekker wrote a letter to Gertrude about his theory of an emerging 15th entity (the Extinction) and that is also how a lot of other main characters learn about it so I’m curious as well about how/if the Extinction will exist in the mag protocol without that letter being written or sent
•In 2007 Gertrude buys “The key of Solomon” off Leitner and in 2015 they destroyed it, not a lot of information was given on the book but makes me wonder where it would have ended up/if we will see more/new Leitners
•Brutal pipe murder probably never happened, what the fuck happened to Jurgen Leitner, if he pops up in Mag protocol I’ll punch a hole in my wall
•what happens with the NotThem!/the web table if Jon never destroyed it with a axe?
•decent amount of statements not given to the institute/artefacts not delivered, did they just go to the Incident Assessment and Response or if not what happened to them? Was anything different?
•Eric Delano is another character that has a very up in the air timeline lol so it’s possible he also died in the fire but if he quite before that then he was never summoned by Gertrude in 2008 so either way I have the question of, dose anyone know they can get out of the eye by taking out there own eyes?
•Mary Keay was destroyed by Gertrude in 2013, of that never happened what happens to Mary? And more importantly what happens to Gerard Keay, and would he still have burned all those Leitners without Gertrude. At the very least hope to all hope that without Gertrude he would have gotten to just die and not be bound to to the book but with his mom still about who knows
•even More importantly without Gertrude would he still almost beat Jurgen Leitner to death lol
•Tim’s brother was killed in 2013, if Tim hadn’t joined the Magnus institute what would he have done instead
•Is monster pig still out there if Gertrude hadn’t suggested encasing it in cement
•in the years between 1999-2015 Gertrude stopped quite a few rituals, it’s most likely without her they still would have failed but how exactly would servants of these entities react, would they sooner realize on there own why it doesn’t work or what would happen exactly with that?
I will most probably be adding onto this later but here you go, please tell me if you have any theories about any of these things <3

Thanks for playing! Here's the summary (long post incoming)
Tumblr media
[Image description: A 32-entry tournament bracket in black and red titled "Tumblr's most hated." It is a visual representation of the summary described below. Notably, Ross as the "winner" is wearing a Burger King paper crown, and Walter White and Mort as revival contestants have steel chairs edited in next to them. End ID]
First round summary with bracket links (see the individual posts for vote counts, percentages, and comments):
Vriska Serket (Homestuck) vs. Pearl (Steven Universe); Vriska won
Rex (Victorious) vs. Rick Sanchez (Rick and Morty); Rick won
Ansem the Wise (Kingdom Hearts) vs. Gul Dukat (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine); Ansem TW won
Kylo Ren (Star Wars) vs. Kokichi Ouma (Danganronpa); Kylo won
Scrappy Doo (Scooby-Doo) vs. Sheldon Cooper (The Big Bang Theory); Sheldon won
Pierre (Stardew Valley) vs. Mort (Madagascar); Pierre won
Seraphine (League of Legends) vs. Heimskr (Skyrim); Heimskr won
Jurgen Leitner (The Magnus Archives) vs. Andre Glacier (Miraculous Ladybug); Andre won
Walter White (Breaking Bad) vs. Light Yagami (Death Note); Light won
Buck Cluck (Chicken Little) vs. Ross Geller (Friends); Ross won
Bramblestar (Warriors) vs. Starlight Glimmer (My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic); Bramblestar won
Goro Akechi (Persona 5) vs. Pariston Hill (Hunter x Hunter); Pariston won
Katsuki Bakugo (My Hero Academia) vs. Berdly (Deltarune); Katsuki won
Angel Dust (Hazbin Hotel) vs. The Impostor (Among Us); Angel won
Olaf (Frozen) vs. Hooty (The Owl House); Olaf won
Zenos viator Galvus (Final Fantasy XIV) vs. Tony Stark (Marvel Cinematic Universe); Tony won
In the second round, I brought back Walter and Mort because they lost by slim margins in the first round. Here's the summary:
Vriska Serket (Homestuck) vs. Rick Sanchez (Rick and Morty); Rick won
Ansem the Wise (Kingdom Hearts) vs. Kylo Ren (Star Wars); Kylo won
Sheldon Cooper (The Big Bang Theory) vs. Pierre (Stardew Valley); Sheldon won
Heimskr (Skyrim) vs. Andre Glacier (Miraculous Ladybug) vs. Walter White (Breaking Bad); Andre won
Light Yagami (Death Note) vs. Ross Geller (Friends); Ross won
Bramblestar (Warriors) vs. Pariston Hill (Hunter x Hunter) vs. Mort (Madagascar); Mort won
Katsuki Bakugo (My Hero Academia) vs. Angel Dust (Hazbin Hotel); Angel won
Olaf (Frozen) vs. Tony Stark (Marvel Cinematic Universe); Tony won
Round 3 was when I got marked as spam and shadowbanned (I know it wasn't actually a "shadowban," but that's the term) so there were less votes overall in this round. But I don't think redoing the round would have altered the results, and they still got over 1k votes each.
Rick Sanchez (Rick and Morty) vs. Kylo Ren (Star Wars); Kylo won
Sheldon Cooper (The Big Bang Theory) vs. Andre Glacier (Miraculous Ladybug); Sheldon won
Ross Geller (Friends) vs. Mort (Madagascar); Ross won
Angel Dust (Hazbin Hotel) vs. Tony Stark (Marvel Cinematic Universe); Tony won
In the semifinals we were down to four live-action white dudes which I find kind of sums up what kind of character people on tumblr hate on its own. These were a week long because I was still shadowbanned but I think I got my blog restored partway through this round.
Kylo Ren (Star Wars) vs. Sheldon Cooper (The Big Bang Theory); Sheldon won
Ross Geller (Friends) vs. Tony Stark (Marvel Cinematic Universe); Ross won
And then there were two, and I did my best to create art for the finals so please check it out in the link.
Sheldon Cooper (The Big Bang Theory) vs. Ross Geller (Friends)
Ross won. It wasn't even that close. So as promised, he was publicly executed. In Skyrim. Because what else would it be.
Personally I never watched Friends so Ross sweeping was not what I expected lol. There were some characters I put on opposite ends of the bracket because I thought the finals would be Vriska vs. Bakugo or Kylo vs. Tony or something like that. But it turns out people really hate annoying sitcom dudes, at least from the sample size that voted in this poll.
I'm doing another tournament soon and I'm currently taking nominations so please check out @youngersiblingstournament if you're interested :) thanks for playing!

If we think that the statements given by Chester Norris and Augustus are dependent on who is giving them, then it’s interesting that Augustus, who is theorized currently to be Jonah (or my personal theory, Leitner) has a statement of an man who “did what he had to do” and leaned into using something evil because he was the best one to steward it.
