#my millennial therapist
Text
Should I scold my therapist for calling me cis-hetero? (In a rather casual conversation - so replace "my therapist" with "a gay man I value and like a lot")
I mean, I don't care about labels.
But I always say "I live in heteronormativ" but I still don't fully understand monosexuality.
I would totally shock him but still I feel like it wasn't right behavior and has to be ... Called out in a way.

i'd like the chart thanks!
Also, there's another person who wants to rp Leo, can they?
Okay a few people are asking for the chart so here’s the current chart!! (I took out some characters that are still not as fleshed out. That includes Nathan, Ria, Nina, Ashley, Zoe, Ray, Maggie, and the hater and Metropolis characters, but they’re all filler characters rn)
A Wild Battinson Character Lore Continuity
- Felicity
- Oldest of the bunch, right between Millennial and Gen Z
- Works at an office, besties with everyone there. Corporate girlie (does use the term girlboss)
- Like if a Gothamite/Bruce Wayne fan was swiftie-coded?
- She has a pet pitbull, you know that kind of white girl
- Tatum
- Goth U, Comp Sci major
- Keeps everyone he knows online at arms length so we don’t know much, has a small close knit friend group irl but he’s also mutuals with everybody on twitter because he’s that kinda guy yk?
- But they’re slowly convincing him. He’s getting there
- Marzia
- Oh god poor Marzia
- Italian, born in Northern Italy, English is her second language but you wouldn’t be able to tell if it weren’t for her slight accent
- Biggest Bruce Wayne stan, will go feral, but only gets replies from him at the worst moments possible
- *snorts like cocaine* “Please don’t do cocaine” is my personal favorite
- Goth U, she gives art major vibes but tacked on a double major in psychology last minute so now she’s staying a fifth year
- Reads smut, writes smut, part of the poetry club, def on booktok, you know the type
- Alejandro
- Runs an ice cream stand in the park on the weekends when it’s warm enough
- Bi, Dating Leo (pfp is them holding hands because he’s a whipped son of a bitch)
- He’s like if that normal-looking kind of athletic guy who always wore sweatshirts and basketball shorts to class just suddenly mentioned he had a boyfriend one day.
- He’s straight-coded but more specifically “the straight guy that gay guys have crushes on against their better judgement”-coded
- Knew the whole time he was bi but never REALLY liked a guy until Leo 🥺. whenever he looks at Leo, he’s got those madly in love eyes
- Thinks Batman is hot and suffers constant torment from Leo (who has a crush on Bruce) because of it
- Ale just wants to be bench pressed is that too much to ask? But It’s his fault he’s a twunk dating a twink so—
- Goth U, Really interested in tech stuff but he’s actually a sports medicine major. He wants to be a physical therapist for athletes
- Cannot hold his liquor
- Smile Watch
- Who knows
- It’s a mystery
- Lela
- Goth Girl
- BFF’s with Nico (goth girl, e-boy solidarity)
- Also good friends with Natalie, they lined up all their gen Ed’s together
- Chill in a Morticia Addams kinda way. She is Morticia Addams actually
- Mom owns a convenience store, she helps out after classes a lot
- Studied for the MCAT, did pretty well, she wants to be a doctor (probably neurosurgeon but it depends on what internship she gets)
- Currently completing the undergrad to grad program at Goth University with a masters in public health
- Natalie
- Former intern, now ASSISTANT at Wayne Press
- Got the job because she impressed Bruce with her good reporting skills, now works mostly on organizing press releases and maintaining Bruce’s public image
- Great at her job because she knows social media and Bruce Wayne Stans the best (she is one obv)
- (Babysits Bruce when Alfred is busy, how did this happen, why is this her job now? She’s tired of his shit lol)
- Still technically working part-time because she hasn’t gotten her degree yet, but she’s set to work full time after she graduates Goth U in May
- Sometimes while sitting at her desk she just gets that perspective shift where she’s like “how did I get here” Bruce Wayne Stans’ dreams do come true
- Caleb 🤡
- Literally 18/19 but aging faster than humanly possible with the stress he’s under
- Used to work at Bat Burger, left because the babysitting gig required more time
- Lives with his aunt who’s already retired (used to live alone, she never had kids or a husband so she’s loaded) He’s staying cuz his parents are super busy and travel for work :) and guess what crime-filled alley their window overlooks? I’ll give you one guess
- Babysits Tim, used to be a less serious gig but his parents have been out of town a lot lately (just vacationing without their child 🙄) and thankfully Caleb lives right across from their swanky apartment so he’s practically a nanny now (read: older sibling/third parent)
- Took a ton of childcare courses for this job and now he’s kind of interested in working at a daycare maybe? If Tim doesn’t kill him in his sleep first
- Recently graduated Goth High, now takes online classes at Goth Community College while deciding what to do with his life
- Jarod
- Recently graduated Goth High, now taking a gap year before starting GothU in the fall. Him and Caleb were always in the same classes so they’re super close (they’re the youngest)
- Future Comp Sci/English major (he wants to be a video game writer)
- Has a younger sister, and technically the oldest child but spiritually he’s the middle child.
- His parents and Priyanka’s parents are close friends so he kind of grew up seeing Priyanka as an older sister. That’s why they’re Like That.
- Literally so fed up with Priyanka, it’s not even funny (yes it is) but the second you’re rude to Priyanka, he will deck you, watch yourself
- Katie (Sweater Thief)
- ER Nurse at Gotham General Hospital, mostly does night shifts
- Gives chronically online energy when she’s online, but everyone in real life wouldn’t suspect a thing because she’s so good at having her life together (the code switch will give you whiplash)
- Surprisingly older than most of the others despite being Like That.
- Literally graduated with a 4.2 GPA how tf?
- BFF’s with Leo then became BFF’s with Ale too after they started dating (she is slowly corrupting Ale and I think that’s beautiful)
- Creator of the Babygirl Bruce Wayne Agenda and PROUD
- Priyanka
- Works at coffee shop owned by her mom called Caffe Mood. She plans to run it one day. Currently a barista
- Goth U, business major (accounting)
- Bilingual, knows Hindi
- LESBIAN QUEEN
- Despite being gay, She is allowed to think Bruce Wayne is hot, that is her Right
- Mad fucking crush on Georgia, calls her Georgie. Intends to never tell a soul. Will fail miserably
- Dead fucking set on the idea that Batman’s a vampire
- But she thinks everyone’s a vampire so—
- Her parents and Jarod’s parents are close friends so she kind of grew up seeing Jarod as a younger brother. That’s why they’re Like That
- Jarod is constantly on her nerves, wtf Jarod (but be mean to him and she’ll kill you)
- Leo
- Works at bookstore called Gotham City Bookstore
- Gay, Dating Alejandro
- Twink (derogatory)
- Swears his gaydar is the most accurate there is (always wrong)
- Made being gay his entire personality because he had an identity crisis in middle school and proceeded to have a massive crush on some straight guy all of high school (that guy was Ale, Leo’s gaydar is so off)
- BFF’s with Katie despite being a few years younger. They were in a high school production of Sweeney Todd together and the rest was history
- Calls every single celebrity gay as a joke, Ale reigns him in if he’s getting too out of hand
- Used to have a mad celebrity crush on Bruce, still kinda (definitely) does
- Attends GothU, undecided for a while but ultimately settled on mathematics because it’s ironically his best subject
- One of those mf’s that needs to be held back at all costs, god help Ale
- Rose 🌹
- Works a tailoring job full time
- Good friends with Felicity, she’s like the black cat to Felicity’s golden retriever
- 70% super nice and chill, 30% wild card party girl
- Gets drinks with friends a lot, tweets when drunk but no one can tell the difference. It’s amazing
- Does not seem horny, is horny. But like normal about it? If that’s a thing
- Nico
- Kinda plays the straight man of the group if the straight man was emo
- BFF’s with Lela (e-boy, goth girl solidarity)
- KING of twitter roasts. He makes memes to end lives.
- Pansexual, single, and probably writing bad poetry in his diary about it but don’t tell anyone
- Goth U, actually dunno the major. Probs public health with Lela but doesn’t want to be a doctor. More like research parallel to social sciences
- Has a 8/9yo sister named Madelaine whom he would die for despite not expecting to be an older brother so late in the game (what were his parents thinking)
- Has tea parties with her and all that jazz. She steals his eyeliner and chain accessories all the time, also she’s friends with Dick and Barbie (yes, Barbara Gordon) so sometimes he watches over their play dates
- He’s a “tough emo boy” so he totally doesn’t laugh at Madelaine’s puns. He’s a bitch ass liar
- Kellyanne
- GothU, marine biology. Transferred from GCCC with an associates degree to save money but now she’s got a full ride cuz of the WE higher education fund
- More recent Bruce Stan
- Pretty poor upbringing, that’s how she met Bruce Wayne. He bought her whole family groceries one night after her card declined at the convenience store trying to buy dinner
- Now she’s in it for the long haul :)
- Lia
- GothU, fashion merchandising
- A GIRL’S GIRL
- Older sister also attends Goth U, but she’s in med school
- More recent Bruce Wayne stan, still not particularly in with the culture and jokes but getting there
- Friends with Georgia and Elizabeth irl. Elizabeth was in the same sorority before graduating first. Got to know Georgia after Lia found her dog with Bruce at the park outside GothU. They party together now
- Elizabeth
- Graduated GothU last May and worked an internship at LexCorp, immediately regretted it but snagged a job at WE (thank god)
- Now works as a research assistant at Wayne Tech in the R&D department for commercial products
- Didn’t really get the whole Bruce Wayne Stan thing until Bruce Wayne personally wished her a happy birthday?? The man is so sweet?
- Absolutely loves her job but still screams at rubber ducks over faulty code in her little cubicle, but that’s the industry she chose so it’s a give and take
- Met Natalie through Stan twitter and now they DM each other about working at Wayne Enterprises
- Doesn’t post much on twitter but follows the main Bruce Stan accounts, irl friends with Lia and Georgia
- Georgia
- Has a dog named Bean
- GothU, majoring in like three languages, polyglot (including Hindi 😏)
- Works at a retail home decor kinda store (home goods?)
- So lesbian-coded, but does not know it yet. Priyanka is her gay awakening. She is now a regular at Caffe Mood (She thinks she just likes the coffee (yeah right))
- Works at Goth U’s admissions department over the summer too
- Once got drunk and locked herself onto a roof by accident, ended up hanging out with Batman (he offered to break into her apartment for her but she said “nah”)
- Jane
- Works at Wayne Enterprises
- Runs bring your kid to work day (idk what her actual job is but she’s an Essential Worker, okay?)
- Very sweet, 10/10, looks on the bright side but never in a toxic positivity way
- Super social too, became work friends with Bruce because she’s nice but not draining to his social battery? They have lunch on occasion
- Watched the Graysons die with Bruce, call that trauma bonding
- Watched her toxic ex’s car burn to a crisp after a joker spree and took a selfie with it (she can have a little revenge, as a treat)

hm i really hope that someone has said this better than me but the betterhelp ads (specifically the video ones, as the podcast ones tend to be less scripted) are such poignant examples of alienation + the role of 'go to therapy' in perpetuating that alienation. keep in mind that, if you personally found a therapist who is genuinely healing for you + that therapist happens to be through betterhelp- i'm genuinely happy for you + that experience does not invalidate anything i have to say below! (but jsyk they're trying to sell your shit to facebook lol)
starting strong w/ the fact that betterhelp is essentially the uber of therapy (aka using an independent contractor model which is harmful + predatory towards its providers), rushing in to fill the market on largely uninsured and/or uninformed ppl who want the ease of a concierge system without the cost + lacks a meaningful supervision system (which led to one gay man being recommended a conversion therapist when he asked for someone to help with his identity struggles, btw!). smarter people than me have written about the ways in which these trendy independent contractor apps strip people of labor rights, fail to provide adequate wages, + in the case of healthcare apps, increase digital surveillance + decrease accountability demanded from providers while exploiting the failure of the US healthcare system in order to churn a profit w/o actually creating sustainable, equitable change.
the betterhelp video ads all circle around a theme- a millennial starts talking about some form of emotional pain or worry, usually relatively standard existential worries ("do you ever think nothing has meaning?") or life worries ("i hate my job" "i think i'm gay"). their friends or the ppl around them respond blankly + coldly, looking at them like they're crazy. while i understand these ads are supposed to be tongue in cheek, they demonstrate the crushing reality of our alienation from one another- the solution to your friends responding to your evident pain with confusion + apathy is to confine that pain to a therapy session! nobody wants to hear your struggles or understands them- come generate profits for us by facetiming a newly graduated 24 year old who can barely make rent!
this theme fits well with what already put me off about betterhelp's marketing- their goal has never been to provide access to therapy for those who want it or to altruistically fill in some healthcare gap. their goal, bolstered by the rise in emotional suffering following, you know, the worldwide pandemic, is to generate + increase demand for therapy as a commodity. their earlier podcast ads focused on convincing others that therapy "isn't just for crazy ppl" + "everyone should be in therapy". regardless of if you personally agree with that statement, it should be evident that this is a blatant marketing tactic in which therapy is a commodity to be peddled, not an offer of support or healing. in fact, they're probably actively shying away from treating "crazy people", bcuz their flimsy support systems could not possibly handle an influx of ppl regularly in crisis or experiencing breaks with a common reality. their target audience is your average millennial under late capitalism + post COVID - anxious, lonely, vaguely depressed, unhappy with their jobs, worried + hopeless about their futures.
i'm not here to tell anyone not to get therapy. that's a personal decision + is none of my fucking business. it's about questioning the total alienation we feel from one another, such that pouring our heart our unexpectedly to a friend + being met with a blank stare is framed as "haha you need therapy" + not "it's crushing that this is how distant we are from one another". it's about a company noticing that (unfortunately very real) distance + fear of vulnerability + using that to direct our emotions into the confines of a business transaction under abusive labor conditions. it's about a world in which we are not engaging with one another emotionally (despite, or i guess bcuz of: widespread suffering, recent mass death, class warfare/untenable working conditions, increased pressure of fascist politics, generational trauma + abuse, etc etc). commodifying therapy isn't going to make that loneliness go away- it's going to normalize it.

Dr. Tainer being like "Oooh visiting a lady friend? Using that sexual subroutine we gave you?" and Data having to be like "No mom, this is my therapist," is the most millennial thing ever.

thank you so much for rec Brittany! She is an experienced adult who gets things but can also empathize with these creators bc she was in that position once. Her whole thing about being a “grown up” but she wasn’t “grown grown” like her parents had me nodding along, like this is someone who gets life, who isn’t chronically online. Humans gonna human and bubbles YESYES
This fandom is so young that watching a video like Brittany’s can bring an POV that they might not be privy to for another decade. And thts the point, it’s okay to make mistakes but if my listening to someone with more life experience (and boy does Brittany have life experience! She knows what she’s talking about with this) you can Not make some of these mistakes, be cognizant of what to do and how to stand up for yourself…shouldn’t that be what everyone wants? People here in their late teens early 20s need to listen to what she says. It is so so important especially about different bubbles and having to interact with people who have different bubbles. This is an adult skill you need to have and look at people and situations from multiple angles. Brittany does a very good job using this last stream as an educational tool as well and point out what went wrong and how to avoid certain things in the future. Like she said, taking and pointing out preventative measure is no victim blaming. Preventative measures should be taken (DD, not drinking underage, speaking up for yourself, removing yourself from uncomfortable situations, not drinking with people you don’t know, having friends you can trust if you are drunk). But acknowledging you can do everything right and bad things can still happen.
Acknowledging your friends faults but not blindly defending them…dude side eyeing some of theses streamers. You should know your friends characters. Some friends are messy and hard to deal with, it’s okay to acknowledge that!! Never protect a friend breaking the law etc, but like she said, “I’d turn my friend into the police but I would visit them in jail”. Help your friends get better but if it becomes too toxic, it’s okay to reevaluate that friendship.
It’s a long stream, long videos, but I think a young fandom like mcyt would lean a lot from watching.
I haven’t watched her other videos but I plan to. If people didn’t watch, her background is Iranian/Syrian, raised conservative, moved to Seattle did a 180 being in the gay, party, and bdsm scene identifying as lesbian but now identifies as pan sexual and is settled down with focus on YouTube as her career. This lady knows what she is talking about, not because she has lived it, but she has put in the work to heal and learn. She has seen therapists and done the introspective part. And has acknowledged nothing is black and white. She takes the time to see it from every perspective. Her thing with the color blue and everyone could be talking about the color blue but not the same shade of blue.
Sorry millennial here connecting with a fellow millennial.
yay glad to hear you're enjoying her stuff! and yeah you said it perfectly she's incredibly experienced in so many things and has so much advice to younger people and really provides good perspectives to people who might not have seen it that way before

The fact that "the twenty five year old I was acting as a therapist for online when I was 13" is such a common experience for genz people my age makes me so fucking angry. What the fuck was wrong with all those millennials that they thought that it was EVER a good idea to suicide bait young teenagers? It is so fucking common. Even when it didn't lead to being sexually exploited, it traumatised so many people. Go fuck yourselves.

something that isn't discussed very often about being home schooled is the sense of lasting impostor syndrome that you're left with, even if you've formally obtained an education later on.
i was more "no schooled" than home schooled and i constantly don't feel like i know anything despite being one of the most relied upon individuals at my employer and actually being a fairly intelligent person (if i do say so myself).
but i didn't learn very basic concepts in school. i didn't have a science class, for example. i didn't learn anything past very basic algebra. i basically skipped the last year or two of my entire schooling and yet, i'm guiding engineers and other way more qualified people on troubleshooting highly technical and complex problems.
at the same time, i don't feel like i deserve my salary. i don't feel like i deserve the success i've had in life in general. i own a home. how many millennials can say that? i feel very undeserving all the time like the curtain will eventually fall on the charade and i'll be left exposed.
and none of this even begins to address the fact that i don't know what average human interaction or life looks like, because i was socially sheltered as a result of my home schooling. i rely on my therapist a lot to tell me if things are normal because sometimes, i just can't trust my own judgement. i just don't have the social context that the average person obtains through a lifetime of schooling and social interactions, even the incidental ones.
you lose so much when you're home schooled. i didn't see it until much later in my life and i realize that not everyone's experience is the same. but i think my lack of self-confidence and inability to bet on myself and constant second-guessing my instincts are heavily rooted in a lack of life experience as a result of not attending some kind of school environment.

My Best TV of 2022: A (Unexpectedly) Long List
This is not a problem I expected to have, early in 2022.
Back then, the quality of TV shows was so disappointing, I considered writing one of those cranky, old-school critic’s columns complaining about how the glut of shows in our modern, streaming-fueled media environment was ruining everything.
I should have just waited around a bit. Because, even though I was mightily disappointed by some of the biggest TV projects on the docket – everything from CNN+ to Lords of the Rings: Rings of Power (the repetition in the title should have been warning enough) – lots more TV shows surprised and delighted me this year. Too many to fit on a top ten or top 12 list.
In fact, there were too many to fit on this excellent roundup prepared by me and five other critics at NPR.org (we each got about eight choices). And I will fess up now – I didn’t vibe with FX’s Reservations Dogs in its first season, so I didn’t keep up with the second and it’s not on my list. Many apologies to devoted fans of a show I’m very glad exists and so many love. But I’m not among you devotees (at least not yet).
Here's my list of fave shows from 2022, in no particular order. It’s by design very subjective, so I welcome debate, but it’s about what touched ME on TV this year:
Andor (Disney+) – Started slow, but turned into a masterful reinvention of the Star Wars universe, focused on the gritty, merciless beginnings of the Rebel Alliance. Who knew a Star Wars show with no lightsabers, no Jedi Knights and no Force could be just what the franchise needed? REVIEW
Atlanta (FX/Hulu) – The last two seasons, both released this year, weren’t nearly as impactful as its first two. But this show remains an excellent showcase for creativity and ambitious storytelling in portraying the lives of a quartet of Black millennials.
Here’s a Q&A I moderated w/Atlanta cast and producers at SXSW
youtube
Better Call Saul (AMC) – This Breaking Bad spinoff stuck the landing in series finale that capped both the origin AND ending stories of criminal lawyer Saul Goodman. REVIEW
Abbott Elementary (ABC) – Sidesplitting mockumentary-style comedy about teaching in a Philadelphia school that is so good, because it’s absurd humor is so close to the actual truth. PROFILE of star Quinta Brunson.
The Patient (Hulu) – Steve Carrell delivers his most impressive dramatic role as a therapist interrogating his own messy personal history while kidnapped and forced to help a serial killer. REVIEW.
The U.S. and the Holocaust (PBS) -- Star documentarian Ken Burns reveals how antisemitism in America busted the myth that the U.S. was always on the side of the angels as Adolf Hitler took power in Germany and began implementing his Final Solution.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds (Paramount+) – Focused on the Starship Enterprise 10 years before James T. Kirk would take command, it’s a welcome return to a rollicking, adventure-a-week series that recalls the spirit of the original Trek series better than any other modern reboot/revival. REVIEW

Tumblr media
Basics
Tox, she/her. millennial. Blog is 18+.
Do not copy, translate, or repost* my work. Do not put it into AI or make bots of it. Ty for understanding.
*reblogging ( 🔁 button) is encouraged.
As of 4/16/24, I'm still on hiatus from trying to write and read, but my WIPs are not abandoned.
Q: Are Requests open?
A: not for new fics, but feel free to send thots, particularly on my stories 💕 if I use it I'll tag you. you can also ask Qs about lore, etc., I love that!
Q: Will you write more every inch/left in Lincoln?
A: I plan to. More here. For Every Inch, if you tell me what you liked so far, it might help me. 🩷
Q: When is fic] coming back? How many chapters?
A: IDK, sorry. If I knew I'd tell you. I have to delete asks like this for my sanity. I get overwhelmed. In the future I'm not planning to release things as I go, I'm gonna try to finish everything before posting. Problem is I have a lot of one shot fails / play as I go AUs. We'll see.
Q: Did you read my fic?
A: I'm sure it's good but I'm a slow/bad reader. I'm also overdosed on pedro rn. More here.
Q: AO3

Q: What are Joelkémons?
A: Reader-coined term for the Joel variants on this blog. Some listed here: Joelkémon cards.
Q: Can we make your characters into bots?
A: No, please don't do this. It makes me feel bad and they don't even work. Every time it puts me farther away from updating the fic. Please. o not copy, repost, translate, put in IA, or make bots of my work. Please lmk if you ever see my work made into a bot, copied, etc.
Q: Who's night walks!Joel? Who's thighs out?
A: Night Walks is an AU where Joel is your hot, older, creepy pothead neighbor. Night walks masterlist. Thighs out (another AU) is your boyfriend's hot slutty dad.
Q: What's a HOG? Who/what is GILF?
A: Hot Old Guy, from Silence can never be bought pt. 2 and 5. GILF is grandpa I'd Like to Fuck and may refer to the one from Pawn Shop (Joel in his 60s) @gilfjoel.
Q: Who is Dr. Rock?
A: Hot sex therapist who roleplays the different Joelkémons. When people think they need therapy, they get referred to Dr. Rock. Dr. Rock is also the poster boy for avoiding discourse.
Q: Do you still write slashers?
A: Yes. I just wrote my first Thomas Hewitt in March 2024. Main/slashers masterlist.
Q: What other fics & blogs do you rec?
A: Please check out @toxicrecs
Q: How can I stay motivated to write without getting a lot of notes?
A: Please see these posts: here and here.
Q: Why did you unfollow me?
A: As a Tumblr noob, I followed accts all willy nilly--i was impatient to diversify my dash. If we've never interacted, I don't want to feel like a lurker. Or I could've lost (some or all) interest in the fandom. Or I may have forgotten why I followed you, especially if what you're posting has changed. Or I might be wanting to reduce the discourse I see. Or it could be be something like what's described below that I don't want to see. Or rarely a mistake but it's possible.
⚠️ A: The most common reasons I block are for policing or judging what others write or post, kink shaming, or spreading harmful rumors. ⚠️
✨Q: Am I blocked? Why can't I see your main blog from my account? / Did you soft block me? What is going on?
When it comes to rumors and shamers, silence is not a sign of guilt or agreement. It's confidence in the truth and desire to keep harmful takes off the dash. As a rule, I would ignore and block false accusations, rumors, or kink shamers instead of giving them a huge audience by responding or addressing it.
Kink shamers I see in the wild / targeted harassment of writers: blocked. And if a post is bad enough, I may block for any positive interaction with it. I'm removing myself from your dash.
You can get blocked on anon too.
Rarely, there could be a blocking error.

HTDIO x H*R quotes, part 3
[Context for newbies: How to Dance in Ohio. Homestar Runner. Author is an autistic elder millennial who was in the original Broadway cast of the former, and is a regular degular superfan of the latter. Tumblr is for niche content.]
Jessica: Isn’t that like going to the prom with your dad? Marideth: And we’ve all been there, right gals?
Drew: Drew, did you make the best omelet ever during the commercial break? I sure did.
[answering the phone at Paws & Claws, too nervous to comprehend they’re using the wrong social script] Mel: Ma’am. Please calm down. Your CD tray is not a cupholder. I cannot help you clear your browser cache. No, I’m not in India.
[trying to find new places he might like to eat in Michigan] Drew: Pizza belongs in a triangle.
[after being grounded for crashing his brother’s truck] Tommy: Sitting on the couch is zero amounts of fun when there’s not a TV or hang-glider in front of it.
[asking Reddit for tech advice after content mysteriously disappeared from their phone] Remy: Back up my files? Are you kidding? Is that…a real thing that you have to do? I always thought that was like, y’know, a figure of speech.
[after the interview, re: Rick Jenkins] Ashley: Ugh, I feel like I need a chemical shower after talking to that guy. Do we have an emergency eyewash station?
[coaching Jessica on asking Tommy out] Caroline: We’re on a collision course with sultriness.
Marideth: [vocal stimming] TER-ti-A-ry.
Amy: Mommy’s got a grown-up headache, Drewby. Why don’t you take the boat out for a while?
Jessica: Ooh, my husky head commands a pretty penny. This’ll bring home a few months’ worth of bacon.
Tommy: Now, it is my intention to sit down and play video games for several hours.
[“Reincarnation,” but Mel is high] Ashley: No job, no apartment, no college degree—please God, in my next life, can I be someone other than me? Mel: You gots to look inside yourself. Positate the negative. When life throws pies at you, you make yourself a tall, cool glass of piemonade.
[having an anxiety attack while unable to get in touch with Jessica] Caroline: You can’t be dead! You’re my best friend and concubine! Oh, I should really look up what that word meeeeeans!
[trying to explain his midlife crisis logic to his own therapist] Dr. Amigo: No, no, no, no, no, no. No, no, no, no, no. It’s like this: The ransom money becomes the new retirement money. And the retirement money becomes the new college fund. And the college fund…eh, we blow on a really tricked-out van.

Regis Philbin is a super retina display.
Regis Philbin is known for his video capabilities.
Regis Philbin is controlled by a smart speaker.
Regis Philbin is vibrant colors and darker blacks.
It is Thursday, November 30th. Regis Philbin wakes up and makes coffee. Another day starts, another year is coming to a close. Regis reads the newspaper on his digital screen, watched by ten trillion wide-lens eyeballs. The headlines coax him:
MILLENNIALS REQUIRE ABUNDANCE, GEN Z SAYS “WHY STOP THERE”
STARLET PROMISES TO PACK ON THE POUNDS
QUANTUM COMPUTERS GET SEXUAL
TOO TALL FOR THE N.B.A., THIS MAN WANTS TO DISRUPT PETS
Regis smiles through a sigh. He has seen it, he sees it, and he will see it. SZA’s people pass on the branded opportunity. Diplomats arm the oceans. Unilateral agreement on a new standard for data transmission, passed at midnight accords on the Friday before the longest weekend, portends a shift, a 25th hour in the day, which is what Regis focuses on, now (this very moment, the moment of awareness, past which there can be no return).
Regis Philbin has heart rate monitoring.
Regis Philbin is capturing images with a 24 megapixel sensor and a comfortable grip.
Regis Philbin is boasting a white-and-black design and an ultra-fast SSD.
Regis Philbin is noise-canceling and wireless.
The extra hour, Hour 25, slips past the clocks, the calendars, the hourglasses. Regis can, in a sense, understand this change. He appreciates it, like all transmissions of nature. “It’s intuition,” he explains to his mental health therapist, ordered by the courts. “I can feel it in my skeleton, in the bolts they put in me.” Joy cannot feel it, but she trusts her husband (the power of love).
Regis Philbin is a cordless vacuum cleaner with intelligent suction power adjustment.
Regis Philbin is a circular design and advanced health tracking.
Regis Philbin is stylish.
Regis Philbin demonstrates his photo capabilities.
Of course, this Hour 25 is a project of people you have never met, of Very High Net Worth individuals. What do the empowered, the lauded, the golden do with these secret minutes? This time that cannot be scheduled, this daily reprieve when all of them are immortal. “Death cannot occur during Hour 25” announces the True, Secret, Real President of Earth, from the center of the planet. Instead, this daily partition (which, we should explain, happens once daily, but is different every day, unplanned, and unpredictable) is used for creation. Larvae. Germination. Women and men drink. Mechanical processes, yielding returns, occupy anterooms. Or, alternately: it’s a great time to take a stroll around your skyscraper, city-state, plantation, airship, or arcology.
Regis Philbin has 16 million colors.
Regis Philbin promises tri-capsule technology.
Regis Philbin is an immersive virtual reality experience.
Regis Philbin is waterproof.
Regis Philbin is holding you by the shoulders. His face is undisturbed, but you note a hyper-reality about his eyes (beautiful, you can understand how handsome he must have been when he was at Notre Dame, a young man, a hero, a liar like all heroes, but that just makes us love him even more). Regis whispers something to you, and the words hang in your ears, terminate-but-stay-resident process, a radiant series of plosives, morphemes, all that good stuff. You hear the words (with your ears) and understand the words (with your brain) and enact the words (with your action points).
And now, at last, we come to the acceleration. Regis walks away, toward the hillside. A dog appears, fast from out the brush, trailing crayon shavings, and slows to follow. The rhythm, the cadence. Regis strides, shoulders back, the entire Varsity squad, a chestnut miracle. The band is rocking, the caverns are skanking. Stick to the script, burnish your credentials, account for slight variations in weather conditions, repudiate as quickly as you defend. You are a perfect representation. You are what Regis has always wanted. When you honor him, you honor your tenacity. You do not need the extra hour, is not what he said, not exactly, but rather the general “gist” of the monologue he whispered into your soaking ears. The tide does not care about the boats, even the large ones. And lastly, about you. Regis, half a football field away, turns, smiles, waves, and hollers. “I am not golden. And you will never be golden, either” Regis shouts, “But, be honest, folks: who needs gold except dukes and microprocessors?”
You agree with Regis, you agree and agree and agree, as he turns back, and walks, behind the hill, behind the day.

So I was reading on reddit (I know) that autistic people are developmentally delayed. One person say the their therapist said the average Autistic person is roughly 3/4 their age and another said they heard it was 2/3. Honestly it feels like both work for me since that would place me either in early or mid 20s. As a millennial (practically gen x) I have no trouble relating to gen z who are 18 years younger but I can't relate to full on gen x people who are up to 12 years older. The only flaw in this is how I felt like a full on adult until around 17/18 where I felt like I could relate to my peers. Then the moment to relate was gone.

I have 3 siblings and the 4 of us are millennials and my parents are boomers (Democrats thank fuck). My siblings are all married and have kids. My older sister is a stay at home mom with her autistic toddler. My brother and his wife both work for the government and combined make almost 200k a year and they have 4 daughters. My youngest sister is a well sought after massage therapist and her husband works for the government. They make about 180k a year and have 2 sons. My parents are in their mid 60s and tried to retire but they can't because social security is a nightmare. So, they're both working part time jobs while living with health complications. I finished my masters degree and literally can't get a job with it. My siblings all have debt up to their eyeballs and barely make it paycheck to paycheck. My older sister can't work cause of her daughter's autism and her husband has to pay an astronomical amount of child support to his ex-wife, so they're really in it.
So that's the context to this story. This morning I went to get coffee with my parents and older sister. We were talking about how all any of us want to do is stay at home and watch tv. My mom was like "why is that? what is wrong with us?" And I'm like, there's nothing wrong with us. We all understand how fucked we are. It doesn't matter how hard we work or what jobs we have. We're stuck with debt we can't get out of, barely making it paycheck to paycheck. Between all of us, we have varying degrees of education and trade schools, great jobs with the government and small business owners, and lots of kids to no kids. None of us are set financially and nothing we can do will change that. We live in a country in which we are bound to fail.
It's so depressing and that's why all we want to do is sit at home watching tv.

11, 19, and 20 for the love your fandom ask please 🥰
Hello Whimsy! :D Thank you for asking!!
Tis the prompt list
11. if you're a writer or artist, what fic or piece of art are you proud of making?
Ok, this is a question that doesn't leave me very at ease. xD If I could I'll answer with "the next piece", but I'll be good and will make my therapist proud.
Right now this one. I had a blast in doing it, it was very complicated and full of details and I was two days out of a minor operation that got not so nicely, very in pain... And on a deadline. I'm proud I managed it in time and without renouncing to details and I'm very glad about how it turned out!
And also this one. It was crazily complex, my graphic tablet decided she was at the end of its life midway, I put stuff I've never ever painted before in it. I'm still pondering whether to go over it again, but I'm proud I managed to complete it.
I am pretty proud, writing-wise, to have completed Monster Fic, here. I would do stuff differently now, but! I finished it!
19. your current fandom(s)
With no one's surprise: Dragon Age. (I'm drawing few things for Mass Effect as well, but I'm hardly part of the fandom, there)
20. your very first fandom!
Already answered here.
But I'll add that in my teens, the Eragon saga has been very important for me. I know the style isn't great (of course it isn't, the author was 15 when he published the first book), but he has a way of making characters likeable...
... That I'm finding again reading Murtagh and enjoying GREATLY with a more adult style. That man is the patron saint of all 30-y.-o. millennial, he fell into a lake and got horribly sick and I FEEL SEEN.(also I'm starting a "Let Murtagh swear freely" petition, that man deserves to swear.)
