Top 10 Best BLs on Gagaoolala

My Beautiful Man AKA Utsukushii Kare

Japan 2021

One of the most Japanese BLs to release in the last decade, as weird and as messed up as any 2000s yaoi: emo af and hella warped, entirely true to itself with no attempt made to modify its POV for modern sensibilities or current BL fandom. It used seriously old school problematic and kinky tropes, like whipping boy, for a truly uncompromising piece that also manages to hit up themes of communication, consent, and self acceptance. It’s a wonderful BL but uniquely dirty and harsh, in the best possible way - Japanese cinema, uncompromising.

I lost my ever loving mind over the ending. This show won the Grand Prix “My Best TV Award” at the 16th Galaxy Awards.

Minato's Laundromat AKA Minato Shouji Coin Laundry

Japan 2022

A classic age gap romance where a high school student pursues the man of his dreams (who runs a laundromat). This BL is so steeped in yaoi nostalgia, not to mention a classic romance arc, that it will overload some, but those of us who love this genre for its DNA will adore it. It made me very happy because it did everything I want a BL to do - there’s not much more I could ask of a show than this. It’s the closest Japan has come to perfect live action yaoi since Seven Days (and I never make that comparison lightly).

My Ride

Thai 2022

Thai BL grew up with this pulp (the first ever to make my end of year top 10). It’s a truly lovely and special little show featuring the extremely rare pairing of sunshine/sunshine (AKA a cinnamon roll couple) plus mature explorations of relationships using one of the softest, sweetest, and most innocent friends to lovers vehicles. Kindly, overworked doctor meets broken-hearted motorcycle taxi driver in an “other side of the tracks” slow burn romance. The support cast is excellent, making for great friendship groups and family dynamics. With honest queer rep that adds to, but doesn’t impede, the story, and genuine conversation about the nature of class, wealth, and classism, not to mention communication, honesty, and respect for boundaries, you can’t go wrong with this show. In other news, I am a sucker for a single dimple.

Takara & Amagi AKA Takara-kun to Amagi-kun

Japan 2022 I gnawed on my knuckles and squealed a lot with this BL. Reserved cool kid who must learn to communicate to keep the tiny disaster nugget he’s madly in love with. It is beyond charming: soft and gentle, packed with cuteness and high school angst, thirst, & yearning. Was there plot? Not really. Was it emotionally tense and paced well enough for me not to notice? Absolutely. Did I enjoy the hell out of it? Oh yes.

Kiseki: Dear to Me

Taiwan 2023

The plot is totally ridiculous and slightly unhinged, but that’s normal for Taiwan. It involves all the tropes under a very casual framework of gay mafia gangs + food = love. Absolutely every character is queer. There’s a gum-ball machine of cameos, elder gay rep, great chemistry from all pairs, and a KILLER side couple. As a result Kiseki is a poster child for Taiwanese BL, and I happen to love Taiwanese BL. Bonus? They also managed to END IT WELL, which we cannot expect from Taiwan.

My Personal Weatherman AKA Taikan Yoho

Japan 2023

This style of live action yaoi really only works from Japan. Basically: boys who fell in love in college end up living together but both are so repressed they actually don't realize they're in love. It's higher heat than we usually get from Japan's HEA stuff, and that part is also very well done, but it leaned into the "why don't they just talk for fuck's sake?" trope which is only exacerbated into undiluted frustration by the fact that they're already fucking. It's great, but watching requires more patience than usual, even for Japan.

Our Dining Table AKA Bokura no Shokutaku

Japan 2023

A lonely salaryman and talented cook gets accidentally adopted by a college kid and his little brother. I was always gonna love this show if they stuck to the manga (which is very dear to my heart). And they did, paralleling it almost exactly. It’s a quiet & cozy little parable of found family alleviating loneliness. Possibly too slow for some but definitely high up there for me as the best of what Japan can do with softness (like Restart After Come Back Home). It’s only flaw (if I dare say such a thing) is that it is not really “romantic.” Lovely & sweet but the romance beats are being used to build a family relationship, not just couple intimacy, but that's OK with me. This is a very safe show for anyone to watch.

Step By Step

Thai 2023

This was Thailand’s answer to The New Employee, and everything I loved about that show I loved about this one. This office romance between a stern boss and sweet subordinate felt more authentic to cubical work than previous Thai BLs of this ilk. That authenticity added tension to the narrative and its characters development (how novel). I also really enjoyed the charming side characters and the brothers' relationship to each other (although I could have done without that brother's side BL).

Long Time No See

Korea (Strongberry) 2017

Catfishing assassins on either side of a turf war who fall in love not knowing they are on opposite sides. Or do they? Suspenseful plot, good fight sequences, mature characters, hot sexitimes and even hotter beating the shit out of each other and kissing while covered in blog (this came from KOREA?), plus an HEA. One of the hidden gems of the BL genre.

About Youth

Taiwan 2022

A truly lovely little coming of age high school BL with a classic YA low drama but high angst and an earnest depth. I didn’t even mind the singing, and that’s saying a lot. A weak seme/uke dynamic but tons of BL tropes (both rare in a high school setting but common for Taiwan) makes this one feel both sweet and colored by real world authenticity and grit.

Some of these shows ALSO appeared on Viki or iQIYI, but these BLs will appear only once on these round up posts (here for Gaga), not on the other platforms top 10.

Been a while since I did a collection of these little preview pictures they post in the morning but why not? And rate them by my expectations of the pairings.

Poor Peem continues to be tormented while Phum is amused and that's why they're my least favorite. If I could rescue Peem, I absolutely would. So unamused, love that for him. 4/10 until Phum apologizes

I love that they're the same, that Toey is smiling but Q is not and yet the vibes are so much better for them and their smiles and the useless queer who changed his major for a crush at a coffee shop. Love that for them. 10/10 adorable

My adoration for them grows and grows. Look at Tan! Look at Fang! They are the absolute ideal of everything. I love them so much. The faces! They're both smiling! Love them forever and ever. 10000/10 the best boys ever

Love them but the vibes still need work. I do adore the disaster gay meets mom gay love story, though, and there is a lot of promise of adorable and the grabbing? 8/10 lots of promise but what will they deliver?

With that title I thought If It's With You was going to be a 'gay for you' trope but no. Amane is a disaster muffin of the classic Japanese variety, along the lines of Aoki from Kieta Hatsukoi, and Amagi in Takara-kun to Amagi-kun etc. But unlike those he isn't sexually naive or coy - he's gay and he's sexually experienced. I've never seen this combination before and it's rather adorable.

Of course, he's deeper than that - the manic pixie dream boy has been hurt in the past and plays up his manic pixie side, smiles and jokes forming a shield against hurt and rejection. BABY - I just want to give him a cuddle. And the title refers to him not his crush because, while Amane's had FWB kinds of deals with older men, avoiding building relationships and emotional connections to protect himself, he's falling for Ryugi. Ryugi who sees through his clown facade, who is kind and helpful. Ryugi who has the loud, loving family that Amane lacks. I love the fact that, when they talk after Amane confesses he is up front about being sexually attracted to Ryugi but that he's now caught feelings. So despite Amane looking, behaving, and sounding like the classic Japanese ditzy uke he's actually the seme.

It's sweet with a little tartness hidden in there. 5 x 23 min episodes so an easy binge watch and it made my heart happy. Thanks Japan.

I guess I have to put this warning:

Stranger things takes place in the 80s, a time where being Gay or Lesbian was something to be hidden and kept secret due to the underlying consequences of said lifestyle, so there will be acts of said prejudice in this story, so if you find that uncomfortable I recommend not reading, thank you.

Robin Buckely, she was the last person you’d think would give you relationship advice. You’ve seen her talk to boys in the past, especially working at Scoops Ahoy last year but she always seems so disinterested in conversations with them. Until a man by the name Steve Harrington came into her life. After that, she seemed to really blossom as a person, instead of being so sarcastic and dismissive, she bloomed into this inquisitive and adorable band nerd. After Star Court came to a burning conclusion, she and Steve found a job at the local movie rental, and thus lead to how you came across her.

One day you were returning a VHS of “Sixteen candles” you rented because a girl wanted to see it so badly for a “Date.” It was morso just her complaining and you feeling this awkward disconnect from her. Regardless, the date was a disaster and you returned the movie, you two began small banter about movies and nerd stuff, being fellow band members had its perks. After the topic switched to school, you went to a small Spiel about this certain someone at school, Robin seemed less intrigued about other peoples love lives, until you let it slip that they were on the Boys swim team. That small tidbit of information lead Robin to the same conclusion. It was dead awkward silence for a few moments. Well, it seems you two have more in common than you think. You both were in Band, total nerds, and Did not find much attraction to the opposite gender.

Your mind begins to wonder with the possible consequences about your slip up, but Robin just smiled. The first thing that she did was immediately critique your choice of guy for being “Too Much of a Water head, you know like a meat head but more aquatic and wet.” A Joke to ease the tension, wonder where she learned that from. She was so reassuring, so caring and understanding. She accepted you for you, since she knows how it feels. Robin offered to help you understand just how; off you felt. so you made stops to the movie rental even when you didn’t even feel like watching anything. One day you enter the Rental spot and see her typing up some name. Scooting over you lean on the counter.

“So.. how’s it going?” You say, smirking.

“Boring, mostly..” she says and her eyes trail over to meet your smile. “Tell me Yours has had at least sold entertainment.” She stops typing and turns to face you and you tap on the counter.

“Okay, so…about the Guy.” You begin, building up the courage to blurt it out.

“I wanna ask him out, but… I think he might be—“ you begin and Robin leans in, gleaming.

“That’s great, I mean he might not be, into you but that’s okay! There’s like statistically 8 billion people in the world, you’ll find someone who loves cheesy movies and an absurd amount of cheese on your burger like you do.” Robin says.

“.. I meant that he might not see it as a date, he’s a little, Dense.” You admit, Robin shakes her head and puts her hands on yours.

“Trust me, Ive Met some, pretty dense guys, but deep down they’re good at heart.” She says, “As cheesy as that sounds it’s true.” She adds, he nods but can’t really form a smile.

“I know.. personality not looks but, what if I, what if I tell him and he.. calls me a Homo or a—“his worry shows and Robin just looks so sorry for him. The confusion and fear all swirled up and bottled into one person. She gripped his hands harder and she spoke a bit more softly.

“Hey. Don’t think Like that.” She says, his eyes lock up with hers and she keeps a soft glare. “If they treat you like that, they weren’t all the heartbreak you’re going through right now, okay?” Robin says, she pulls him in for a hug and he felt the genuine comfort and love he deserves. And for a moment he felt, wanted.

Until suddenly someone bursts in from the back, Steve.

“Hey Robin do We have a VHS of The Goonies—“ he says before stopping dead in his tracks seeing Them. The two separate and try to play it off.

“Yeah It’s in the back room, third shelf.” She says, Steve awkwardly nods and heads off. (Y/n) turns to Robin.

“Shit. Sorry..” He said, Robin shrugs it off.

“It’s okay, he knows.”

“He knows? Steve Harrington knows?” He says taken aback.

“Remember what I said? Dense.” She says, (Y/n) realizes and nods.

“Ooooooh… Yeah… Dense.” He says, Robin gives a soft pat on the back, and nods, ready to take the chance, maybe they’d fall it in love… Just like they do in movies.”

1.) Major Anthony P. Havers-BBC Ghosts

aka my soft boy.

(Surprise the self-proclaimed Havers lunatic loves Havers 😉) Just know this man stole my heart in 2021 in under 4 minutes (the microexpressions fml) and this year it was my highlight to see him again. He's kind, protects the man he loves from ridicule, has a boyish grin and a cheeky streak. He likes dancing. He fell for his beau because he was attracted to his kindness. He's been through it and continues to go through it 😢Also PSC answered my question about him and I'm still screaming about it to this day🥺💖

2. The Captain -BBC Ghosts

aka my creaky boy.

He is silly, kind, gay and autistic, a dad, sometimes bitchy and one of my most beloved characters ever. Also so gorgeous and a little bit pathetic. I adore him with all my heart and soul. Blorbo from my shows.

3. Thraxus Boorman -Willow 2022

Sarcastic, great fighter, loyal, kind but he'll jump of cliffs to deny that (literally), the funniest character of 2023 and an absolute iconic bi disaster. He's a classic rogue, as is his absolute badass girlfriend.

4.) Joe Pritchard -The light in the hall

Such a brilliant character, somehow really dark and mysterious but ultimate kicked puppy vibes. He'll keep you (and himself) guessing until the end if he really killed someone. He has amnesia due to traums. I really wasn't sure until the end if he did it or not. Amazing character. My Boy needs 1 million hugs.

5.) Graydon Hastur-Willow 2022

A prince who loves learning esp. languages, very, very dark past, kind, loving, just some guy in love, easily corrupted but he's fighting it. and as it turns out he has a gift for magic. The sweetest love confession ever.

6. Barbara Parker/Sophie Straw-Funny woman

Gorgeous, hilariously funny, smart, sweet, standing up for what she believes in and makes her way in an industry that only treasures her because of her looks. But she makes them see how brilliant her brain is.

7. Sir Humphrey Bone -BBC Ghosts

aka Humphrey my goldhaas

Awkward, kind and odd. He deserves all the love in the world and to be seen and loved for who he is. This year he's getting revenge on those who ignore/mistreat him and I am here for it. Boy is not the best listener though.

8. Lord Adam Quinn -A kind of spark

He is legit evil okay. But idgaf. Great villain and his modern day equivalent makes me weak in the knees. Portrayal wise he is also a small amount of ridiculous and I love that.

9. Robin the caveman - BBC ghosts

aka my chaos gremlin

Kind, wise, chaotic little gremlin also sometimes more the family dog than anything else. Loves space. Utterly hilarious and tragic at the same time. His worst trait is incest according to him. I love him so much I'm gonna get a tattoo that's just about him.

To be fair I have a plethora of beloved characters that rotate in my brain 24/7 but these nine were either new or in special focus this year. Ghosts hyperfixation is at it's absolute peak, I was barely able to watch anything else. Also I watched some things that didn't leave me with a favourite character 🤷🏻‍♀️However honourable mention has to be Allan from Barbie.

Personal Opinion: I love this book. I don’t read a lot of WLW stories (which needs to change) but I love all the unique personalities and the humor and the mystery surrounding Jane Su. I expected this to be a very slice of life story but it turned out to be so much more than that. August Landry had an unusual upbringing that made her feel like she couldn’t trust others. But then she ends up rooming together with the nicest, coolest people on Earth. And on the Q train, she meets the nicest, coolest girl on Earth. And as August opens up over the course of the book, you will end up falling in love like she does.

Couple Classification: August Landry X Biyu “Jane” Su = Nerd X Punk

Do I Own This Book? No but it’s definitely on my wishlist.

Spoilers Below For My Likes & Dislikes:

Likes:

- First and foremost, Jane is legit the coolest person ever. I love her. I mean, she was out there fighting for civil rights in the 70s! She was in the thick of it! She protested against the Vietnam War, she beat up anti-semites, and she gave one of her pride pins to a 15 year old boy that just came out. She is so cool and the true meaning of punk. I’m not even sexually attracted to women and I kid you not, I am in love with her. August hit the jackpot is what I’m saying. Plus, Jane is Asian! That appeals to me directly. I love her.

- Second, August is a nerd and she’s adorable. She’s relatable too. Well, not her childhood of searching for a long-lost uncle but the part about her being alone and not knowing where she wants to go with her life is. She was anxious about graduating college because it meant she would lose that structure. Before New York, she never had people that she considered friends. I felt all of that in my soul. But she’s a truly nice person despite her loneliness. She helped Jane try to get unstuck from the Q line, she encouraged Wes to go for Isaiah, and she went with Myla to meet Gabe, just in case, to protect her. She also takes notes on everything, including the things Jane likes in sex, and that is also somehow adorable? I don’t know, August just felt like the perfect blank slate protagonist while also having enough personality to separate herself from the reader. It was just really well done and I respect it.

- August called her New York friends her family! Niko is a legit psychic—which, so cool. He’s also trans and Hispanic and he’s got tattoos and he’s overall super chill and cool. He didn’t get jealous when Myla was fake-flirting with Gabe and he always seemed to know things he shouldn't, which I thought was super cool. I’ve described him as cool three times but that’s honestly the best descriptor for him. Then we got his Black girlfriend Myla who graduated as an engineer from Columbia but is actually an artist who welds a bunch of random shit together to create giant nerves. She is just so impressive and again, I think she is so cool. Finally, we have the third roommate, Wes! He’s a disaster gay but he bakes for his roommates and he has a dog. That in itself makes him cool in my book. Plus, his little romance with Isaiah is so cute. I’m sure I would’ve been really frustrated with him had he been the protagonist but since he’s not, I get to enjoy their love story for what it is. When he said, “I am in love with you,” at the party, I was screaming.

- Outside of their apartment, we have Isaiah who is also a drag queen named Annie Depressant. Firstly, that name is brilliant and I imagine she lives up to it. The way he just easily went along with August’s perceived weirdness concerning Jane was so cool of him. Okay, honestly, there’s no other way to describe him than cool. Legit, I’m being vague and all but it’s because there’s so much context that I can’t just put into these sections. He is just so cool!

- Lucie is cool too! And she’s with a pansexual drag queen, Winfield, and it is adorable! And Winfield is cool too! And Jerry is cool too! Everyone who works at Billy’s Pancakes is so cool! That includes Jane!

- Listen, there are just so many unique personalities in this book but the fact that they’re all so cool means something. It probably means McQuiston is a great writer. I just, ugh, I’m at a loss for words for how cool everyone is and how enjoyable this book is.

- The mystery of Jane is part of the allure of the book. The first hint that she wasn’t normal was their very first meeting. The lights flickered and she just vanished. As someone who lives in New York, people do not vanish on the subway. It doesn’t matter how crowded it is. And then there’s the fact that she said she “can’t” when August asked her out. It was right after the train had stalled so in my mind, it felt like she had a free schedule. To me, that meant the only reason she “can’t” go is because she literally can’t leave the train. I don’t know how my brain went there but it did. And then in the following chapter, there was a Craigslist missed connection post dated 10-12 years ago. That would’ve made Jane 13 or so which makes no sense. Which means, she was on the train for years! Oh my god, it was just so fascinating and I loved learning new things about Jane. And I love that she stayed! Oh my god, I would’ve been fine with either outcome. Whether she went back to 1977 or stayed in 2020. But the fact that she stayed and wrote about the UpStairs Lounge arson attack (something I knew about already because I researched it for a poem I wrote) so that queer youth can know about it is just inspiring. She stayed and she meshed with everyone in the apartment so well and she’s the record holder of Rolly Bangs and she works at Billy’s again and I love her.

- A lot of this is very much a stream of consciousness rambling and that is because I love these characters. I love this book. I love that they live above a Popeyes and August says she trusts chicken. I want to live above a Popeyes and have cool queer roommates and meet the hot love of my life on the subway. She is living my dream.

- They had sex on the train! That’s not the important part though. The actual important part was everything leading up to it. August brought Jane a feast and she found music that would appeal to Jane and she made it so romantic even though they’re on a subway! I felt my heartbeat quicken with every word in that chapter.

- The comedy in this book is on point. Everything from their reactions to Gabe to Jane saying she befriended a train rat. I loved it. But the best joke, to me, when August met Jane again and her brain went for “Hi” while her mouth went for “Morning” and out came “Horny.” Like, that is, exactly my kind of humor.

Dislikes:

- Nothing comes to mind. I was originally going to be upset that Jane never reconnected with her family but then August went and found her family. It’s crazy. And also really sweet. And I’m glad Jane will have a chance at some closure with them. And she also has a gay nephew and that just makes me so happy because, as we all know, at this point, I love Gaysian men.

- Actually, one thing does bother me. The POV choice. It’s third person limited omniscient. It’s not a bad choice. I just wondered half the time why it wasn’t in first person when the narratorial voice had so much personality. And it felt like August’s personality. Sometimes, I’d see August’s name and I’d be momentarily confused because I would forget this wasn’t in first person. Again, it’s not a bad thing that this is in third person. I just wonder why first person couldn’t do the job just as well if not better.

10 BEST Low Heat BLs - Soft & Sweet (Safe to Watch with Parents)

Not sure I am the right one to answer since I'm the opposite of a prude but I'll give it my best shot. Please keep in mind that these are romances, so there will be at least a kiss (in most of them), I'm thinking Disney level, so they might also be okay for kids, but as I always say with kids, you know your kid best, you have to judge what they are okay to watch.

1. Cherry Magic

AKA 30 Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard AKA 30-sai made Dotei Da to Mahotsukai ni Nareru rashii AKA Cheri Maho

Japan 2020 - CrunchyRoll or Fan Subbed

The sweetest fluffiest magical realism BL, packaged as a pinning office romance, very low heat (practically chaste) but the cutest. It’s truly great. It’s not in my top 10 of all time list simply because the heat level is too low for me, personally.

No kisses for the leads, side couple kiss is v dead fish.

2. Light On Me

Korea 2021 - Viki

Korea does an elegant pastiche of traditional live action yaoi but all tropes are cleverly deployed to bolster one of the most riveting love triangles ever put on screen… and I don’t like love triangles. LonM strategically tailors classic BL tropes to 2 different semes resulting in pristine pacing, plot, and character development, explicitly serving narrative a-not just to tick boxes. LoM is a master class in this technique. (If you write fanfic or romance you should study this show.) Full review.

Very low heat, Korea in peak chaste form (pre their 2022 “oh, boys can kiss” epiphany). But there is dildo humor.

3. My Love Mix Up

AKA Vanishing My First Love AKA Kieta Hatsukoi

Japan 2021 - Viki

Completely adorable absolute chaos bi disaster muffin falls accidentally and completely in love with his classmate, hijinx and friendship result. What’s great about this BL is that it deals with things like homophobia, asexuality, and one sided affection in an extremely gentle and palatable way. Perhaps sometimes too subtle, but I believe this is a great show for younger audiences, particularly if you want to spark conversations about identity, sexuality, authority, truthfulness, and consent. Oh and it’s funny.

No kissing at all.

4. Seven Days: Monday-Thursday & Friday-Sunday

Japan 2015 - grey

Never doubt my ability to recommend this show. One of the best live action yaois ever made, with perfectly structured angst, fantastic characters and acting, and no problematic tropes (rare in Japanese BL).

The leads have excellent chemistry although it’s low heat there’s still some really cute mutual kisses.

5. Wish You: Your Melody in My Heart (movie)

Korea 2020 - Viki

Set in the music industry featuring a talented singer and the pianist who falls in love with him (and his music), subtle and achingly adorable. High production, low heat, short run, very tame, and Korea, so more of a western style. It’s not the most logical story though. No coming out, exists in the “Korean BL bubble universe” where everything is just fine and dandy with the gays.

Kisses but they tame and no sexy.

6. He’s Coming To Me

Thailand 2019 - YouTube

Boy and ghost boy fall in love, must solve ghost’s murder. Peak pining but also pretty tame, features my favorite sweet but important coming out sequence. The third in my precious triumvirate of unbeatable Thai BLs, that are only nominally BL because the story, acting, and production values are so good. (Together with UWMA & 1k*).

One (maybe two) soft romantic kisses. Nothing else possible.

7. Restart After Come Back Home

AKA Risutato wa tadaima no ato de

Japan 2020 - grey

Atmospheric study in rural Japan meets complex family dynamics built on a romance framework of city boy meets country boy, grumpy/sunshine. It’s beautiful and icy sweet. Slow moving in places but ultimately worth the patience. Full review.

Low heat, low angst, very pretty.

8. My Ride

Thailand 2022 - GaGa

Thai BL grew up with this pulp - a truly lovely and special little show featuring the extremely rare pairing of sunshine/sunshine AKA a cinnamon roll couple. Mature explorations of relationships using one of the softest, sweetest and most innocent friends to lovers vehicles. Kindly, overworked doctor meets broken-hearted motorcycle taxi driver in an “other side of the tracks” slow burn romance. The support cast is excellent, making for great friendship groups and family dynamics. With honest queer rep that adds to, but doesn’t impede the story, and genuine conversation about the nature of class, wealth, and classism, not to mention communication, honesty, and respect for boundaries, you can’t go wrong with this show. In other news, I am a sucker for a single dimple. Full review.

One sweet kiss at the end.

9. Mr. Unlucky Can Only Kiss

AKA Mr. Unlucky Has No Choice but to Kiss! AKA Fukou-kun wa Kiss Suru Shikanai!

Japan 2022 - Viki & GaGa & indie subbed

Mr Chronically Unlucky (another adorable chaos muffin) and Mr Always Lucky end up dating after they meet at uni orientation. It’s JAPAN yet they kissed in the first episode. What freaky alt-reality did I enter into? That’s all they kiss tho, over which I was a touch disappointed. Still I spent far too much of my time with this show biting my knuckles and squealing “THEY’RE SO CUTE!” It is very slapstick Japanese style comedic (light) BL reminds me of Cherry Magic. So if you like that style of BL you’ll adore this show.

Amusing story: I paused mid the most tooth-achingly adorable first date in the entire universe and Viki was like “something missing?” and I was like “MY HEART YOU BASTARDS”

One kiss beginning and some shirtless lust.

10. What Did You Eat Yesterday

AKA Kinou Nani Tabeta?

Japan 2019 - grey

A not really BL about middle-aged gay couple who live together, one of whom loves to cook and the other who loves to eat. That’s it. That’s all that happens. There’s a bit of coming out drama, but hardly really drama. It’s all very repressed but also incredibly restful and calming. Like classical music.

No kisses, some casual domestic affection.
