While I wait to take my laptop in tomorrow (hopefully) and figure out wtf is wrong with it, have an old screenshot from my early Terraria days.

Mushroom biome is my favorite biome for multiple reasons. One being the color it changes during a blood moon.

(To see it, you have to plant mushroom grass seeds on on mud blocks, or spraying the Jungle with the Clentaminator using Dark Blue Solution, in the overworld and wait until a blood moon. Mind the monsters if you're playing on expert.)

Introducing mushroom creepers!

This is my idea for a species of creepers that have become fungal-like. Either the species is named BoomShroom or that one in particular, I haven't decided yet.

It started with one creeper who got injured and formed a symbiotic relationship with some kind of fungus, to save his life. Now he's become much more fungal-like, and his insides are largely fungal/ possibly mycelium. He spread more of his kind with spores so now there's a good population of them. When they explode, they do less damage but send out spores that can infect you.

The one bouncing on the mushroom is a different one ofc.

Some mushroom island phantom varients, these little fellas can be found basking ontop of muschoom and (if i can program it) will swarm a mooshroom to eat it alive.

They usually fly pretty close to the ground, and sound like cats, but more of the goofy silly sounds they make instead of the regular meows.

You can breed them with raw beef, and i think the specific item they drop will give the elytra a more rounded shape(the cherry forest varient would probrably make the elytra look like it was made of petals)

Hmm... maybe you use one of the mystery items from these guys to change the shape, and then alother to add the custom pattern? It would be interesting to be able to mix and match the shape/pattern of these!

Ill be working on the Savanah/taiga varients next.
