Lovely <3#DAX also had to make an appearance obviously ♪ Love him too much to leave him out of the festivities I'm sure he's very happy lol#He did predominately get the eyepatch tho good for him - all sorts of accessories and useful human inventions!#Gets it gifted from ZEX like ''Oh ♥'' and then ZEX is like ''Isn't it great my Captain gave it to me but I like having both eyes free :D''#Poor DAX haha ♪#I'll give him a handsomer bow another time I'm sure he'd look great in something darker and more loose and flowy <3

What fans say:
Kung Fu Panda:
Honestly iconic. The progression of story, the message, the acting.
The way this movie balances tone is nothing less than astonishing to me. It's funny and lighthearted but also intense and dramatic and neither ever take away from the other. Every joke and emotional beat lands excellently. Not to mention. The fight scenes SLAP. And so does the score!!
It's just GOOD. I love how all of them were insanely genuine. Po genuinely wanted to be a Kung Fu master. The Furious Five genuinely wanted to be the very best like no one ever was. And Tai Lung genuinely wanted to kick the shit out of anyone that even looked at that dragon scroll. But seriously one of the best movies.
Treasure Planet:
The setting and focal relationship!
WHALES IN SPACE. Second best treasure island adaptation (#1 is muppets). The song The Song!!
Where do I begin with this movie? It blends CG and hand drawn animation beautifully. All of the backgrounds are gorgeous. There are so many cool alien designs. The score is absolutely perfect. The amount of detail put into the design and worldbuilding shines through. All of the characters are so much fun to watch, especially Long John Silver and Captain Amelia. This movie takes at least partial responsibility for my love of space/sky pirates. Also it was actively sabotaged by Disney so I need to vouch for it at every chance.
Space pirates in a classic novel. It's gorgeously animated with a blend of 2d and 3d. Also, LONG JOHN SILVER HAS A 3D HAND thats hecking impressive for a main character to be a blend of the two in 2002. Did I mention the twink protagonist and malewife for the rich halfwit son? The aliens are beautifully unique, and a mantis guy floats off into space. from a pirate ship. because they aren't just space pirates, they're aliens and cyborgs on pirate ships going through space. Which fucking rocks.
It's a genuinely creative adaptation of Treasure Island that has so much heart and incredible animation. It helped pioneer 3D animationa nd it was the first feature animated film to utilize both 2 and 3 D animation
The animation is so good, and the way that the antogonist isn't black and white, he genuinely cares for the protagonist <3
Pirate ships in space!
Watched this on loop as a kid, gave me solace for not growing up with a dad
It fucks
The ☆A n i m a t i o n☆!! And captain Amelia
It's so fun looking, cool character design. It's funny, it's emotional. I love it so very much please aaaaaaa
How this movie looks is absolutely amazing. A space-steampunk pirate story with fantastic visuals and (mostly) great characters. The vibes this movie has are off the charts. Jim is the bad-boy-good-heart kid, the doctor is a silly-goofy-but-oddly-competent support and Silver is a complex father-figure-who's-made-mistakes. Also MORT the cute little jelly that won me over in 0.5 seconds flat. I am also a slut for a good soundtrack and this one SLAPS. I will stand by my opinion that the Russian version of the song I'm Still Here did a better job of fitting the montage and the mood. That's a hill I will die on.

The Black Sails Drama Highlights™️
Like, what the fuck happened over there?
Lucky for you, I was there on the ground floor (even sent in some propaganda that elicited a truly baffling response from the poll runner) because I'm a nut for goofy little tumblr polls and a nut for best little lesser-known-tv-show Black Sails.
Alright, so. @/pirate-battle (from here on out referred to as OP -- the Original Pollster) was running, as one might expect, a pirate bracket. At first glance, it wasn't explicitly presented what the criteria were, so people voted on their preference, often moving along pirate icons (Hook from Muppet Treasure Island)/characters from active fandoms (TAZ), etc etc you know the drill. (Although they later clarified they were looking for favorites, not the "best pirate.")
OP's first mistake, I think, was the assumption that a silly goofy little tumblr competition about characters archetypically ungovernable would remain silly goofy and with minimal strong language.
But this wouldn't become visible until they made their second mistake, creating a first-round poll between James 'brutually murdered a crewmate in the first episode solely to maintain power for his revenge-quest against England' Flint of Black Sails vs Stede 'notable used tissue' Bonnet of OFMD. They did recognize some of the coming danger even with that post, tagging "#I predict slaughter in the tags"
O Apollo, strike down these children with prophecies that bite them in the a--
Anyway. Predictably, there was slaughter in the tags. Violent language rather typical of the tumblr that I came from (the tumblr of the early 2010s), but seemed to be utterly shocking to some OFMD fans.
Exposition time: It should be noted here that there exists at least two-ish different kinds of users of tags. Those that use them to scream personal thoughts into the void and/or whispers into their mutuals' ears, and those sneaky little fools who will peruse everyone's personal little screams/thoughts to their internet buddies. And original posters are relegated to suffer the yelling/whispers without choice.
So that slaughter, in the tags, those rivers of blood through the whispers of a fervent fanbase of a violent and freeing queer show, did reverberate around other users, regardless of etiquette.
And for some of those very sweet very uwu our flag means gay fans, that was.. very scary. (Must be all those spooky theatrics with the smoke and mirrors).
(....Idk??? Maybe I'm just battle-hardened from superwholock, but saying a tag a la "AHHHHHH I'm going to rip something's head off my BOY BETTER WIN" just doesn't really phase me?? Nor does "#I'm literally going to k/m/s if x wins." Overkill? Yeahhh... But this is tumblr. We invented overkill for the media we like. And again, this was in someone's tags.)
Moving on, as tags of that violent nature starting pulling through, and people started vigorously defending black sails as a franchise over ofmd, myself and others sent in some propaganda of my own, urging OFMD fans to really understand that Black Sails is mostly incomparable to OFMD and... Black Sails is just kinda better. Cuts deeper. Genre difference at work here.
Soapbox Side Note: Black Sails can actually be kind of game changing, especially for a show that came out in 2014. There's so much to say about it but it's hard to talk about without spoiling. I might add a link to a good 'things to know' post if you're looking to get into it.
Anyway. OP was starting to lose it.
Like, I really just don't think they had mentally prepared for how truly feral Black Sails folks were/are about that show, and how they were willing to get all HRRRRRRR CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP about it.
Additionally... OP was white, and they were super duper unprepared to engage with any of the discourse about racism that these shows dig up (They're about pirates, and a lot of pirates engaged in the slave trade. Or had freed slaves on their crew. Some even owned slaves themselves. It was complicated and pirates are typically a white fantasy vehicle and anyway I'm getting off-track--)
OP started to really fan the flames with more and more visibly emotional responses
They said "it's not a competition" between the two shows, despite it... being a literal competition...
They called people out for "gatekeeping," but didn't really define what it meant in the context of saying one gay pirate show was way better than the other.
They told Black Sails fans not to express negative feelings towards OFMD on the internet (because good representation is the god us internet queers pray to, and we wouldn't want some network exec to say "oh those mean people on the internet, better not renew the popular pirate romcom" obvi)
After some more of this, they then threatened to overturn the results of the poll entirely and remove Flint from the poll wholesale, despite the fact that he had won. (Which is hilarious if you know anything about Flint in Black Sails. He's literally That Guy That Makes People Break Democracy Attempting To Unseat Him).
Finally, after a day of trying to ignore the fact that they'd become a meme within black sails circles (one post even screenshotted then with "new copypasta just dropped" yikes), they threw in the towel. And bless them, I do think they needed the break. They were kind of going through it.
In conclusion,
The Black Sails fans pulled what I might even daresay to be,, , a fuckery "of censorship and fear",, over OFMD fans and some poor unprepared poll runner who had no skin in the game, while using only strong language and some mild mean-spirited memes (95% of which in their own tags and posts).

Muppet Movies Ranked
I've recently marathoned all 8 theatrical Muppet movies ,and these are my rankings.Keep in mind I think all 8 are good movies,I just prefer some to others
8.The Muppets
I like the nostalgic look back stuff.....But the peoblem is I dont like Walter or the human characters .This film is the most meh to me
Tumblr media
7.Muppets From Space
ITs diffrent, being the only non musical in the series ,and I do like that the film focuses on my favorite Muppet Gonzo and doesnt showcase just the Muppet Show guys but the Muppets Tonght guys as well but the story isnt all there,I dont think Jeffrey Tambours villain has the right ending and it is painfully 90's
Tumblr media
6.Great Muppet Caper
Oooooh for putting this so low I might get some hate, but I shall explain .This is the most irreverant ,silly and funniest Mupppet movie,if you just want to laugh this is great .THis film is pure Henson wackyness, the film is not taking itself seriously at all.....And while I enjoy that.....I prefer a Muppet movie to have a bit more heart and story to go with the silly FOr me the characters, story and songs are a bit lacking .Again jokes are brillaint, performances are good (Charles Grodin looks like he is in LOVE with Miss Piggy and it is amazing) and it may have my favorite cameo in any Muppet movie .I do like the movie,I just like 5 others better
Tumblr media
5.Muppets Most Wanted
This film is VERY similar to Great Muppet Caper ,and while not funnier,I think its more solid .I adore the songs, especially the Big House ,I think the story is really good ,I love Sam and Ty Burrels chemistry ,the cameos are top notch ,Tina Fey as the Russian warden Nadya delivers one of the best human characters in all the Muppet movies and the film has possibly the best villain in all the Muppet movies in Constantine who is good mix of hilarious and threatening .Not all the effects worked and....I really wish someone else other then Ricky Gervais played the secondary villain Dominic Badguy.Overall though its an enjoyable film
Tumblr media
4.Muppets Take Manhatten
The one that surprised me .Of the orignal three its the one people dont talk about but ....I love it,its a bit more of a low key Muppet film ,ITs a much more character focused film. .The Dabney Coleman scene cracks me up,Saying Goodbye is tearjerking and the finale is spectacular
Tumblr media
3.Muppet Christmas Carol
A legit really good take on a Christmas Carol, possibly one of the best takes .The first film without Jim Henson ,and I think it showed the Muppets could survive .Less about the jokes and more about the heart and artistry while still having fun and humor . the Muppet performers are on top form, especially Gonzo and Rizzo as the narrators ,but the highlight of the film is honestly the phenomenal performance of Michael Caine as the coldhearted Scrooge ,giving off a legit good dramtic performance while talking to Puppets .Also the songs by Pqaul Williams are just top notch
Tumblr media
2.The Muppet Movie
The one that started it all,a heartwarming story about a bunch of weirdos coming together in pursuit of a dream, its sweet, its funny ,Paul Williams songs are great (Especially Im Going to Go Back There Some Day and Rainbow Connection),theres some fun cameos (Mel Brooks steals the show ) and Charles Durning gives an underrated performance as a psychotic fast food mogul
Tumblr media
1.Muppet Treasure Island
This....WAs one of the first movies I ever saw,and I have never stopped loving it .The muppet mayhem is funny(DEad Toms Dead always gets me ),its exciting ,the songs are all top notch ,and it has the best human cast with Kevin Bishop as the adventurous young Jim .Jennifer Saunders asa bombastic Inn owner,Billy Connolly as old drunkn pirate Billy Bones and the legend himself Tim Curry hamming it up as the villainous Long John Silver in perhaps his greatest performance ,cause he is equally great with the comedy as he is at delivering tender softer moments with Jim as a sort of surrogate father

Whimsical, chancy, female, lunar: yaoi and yuri in the Aubrey/Maturin series
the inherent yuri of the sea and the inherent yaoi of the sailor is the most ancient queer solidarity
- twitter user caranthirs. I would link to the tweet, but their account appears to be suspended (RIP)
This essay was born from a discussion prompt asking about the relationship between yaoi and reality. In answering I was reminded of the above tweet. Tongue in cheek as it no doubt is, it’s always really resonated with me and my own personal experience with yaoi, yuri, and queerness, such as it is.
First of all, it’s a truth universally acknowledged that there’s something kind of fruity about the ocean. A great deal of boat media, which is a term that I’m using to encompass everything from Moby Dick to One Piece, from Muppet Treasure Island to the Titan submersible implosion incident of 2023, is intimately concerned with this. One thing I’ve always been intrigued by with boat media is the inherent constraint, the inherent loss of control; even in our modern day, the ocean is an unpredictable element, and to this day it has depths that are literally unfathomable to science. There’s a certain powerlessness one has to give oneself over to to board a boat, and of course there’s timeless romance, endless stories and art and music associated with the sea.
I’ve been to the ocean maybe four times in my whole life, and I’ve always lived in an area of the United States that’s about as inland as it’s possible to be on the planet Earth, but I’ve long been fascinated with boat media, though I was not always conscious why I was drawn to it. When I was growing up I had a persistent autoimmune disorder that destroyed the vision in my right eye and from a very young age I was forced to sit still for various eye exams, procedures, surgeries. Because I was so young when all this started, I never exactly rebelled against it; if I was a fish, then this near-constant constraint placed on me was the water that I swam in. I was a kid who lived in my head a lot, and my head was filled with fantasies of escape. I used to make up stories and tell them to myself before bed, a kind of self-soothing ritual that saw me off to sleep. In more difficult times in my life, especially as an adolescent, this quite literally got me through the day; I would look forward to my little bedtime story, and sometimes not.
The stories differ greatly, but the one thing they’ve all had in common is they’re always about at least two characters who are trapped together, undergoing some kind of external trauma or abuse or privation, and together are trying to escape, but they never succeed. The reason for that is that the stories have no ending, by design; the “end” comes when I fall asleep. Sometimes there are self-inserts, but usually they’re about other characters, usually male characters. For a long time I didn’t exactly understand or think much about why I identified so strongly with these stories, which were sometimes original and sometimes elaborate works of fanfiction, sometimes erotic and sometimes not.
I was something of a late in life yaoi adopter; I was immersed in Western media fandom spaces and I viewed a lot of slash fandom initially with contempt, but based on what I’ve described above it’s maybe not greatly surprising that I became a big yaoi fan when I was around 19 or 20. I found it both enticing and alienating at once; I was a cis girl but I felt like I was a failure as a woman, and reading about or trying to identify with women didn’t always do it for me. There was something about viewing male as the default that was attractive; I remember as a kid, pre-internet, I would consciously look for books about male protagonists, though as an avowed feminist I felt obscurely ashamed of this.
Shame was an essential component of all of this, by the way. Both eroticized shame and the more down to earth, un-fun kind. There was always the question in the back of my mind: did I wish I was the man, or did I desire the man? There were similar questions about my attraction to women, which were even more disquieting in what they did or did not say about me: did I desire a beautiful woman, or did I want to be a beautiful woman? Shame was inextricable, and constant; shame about my nascent queerness, shame over how poorly I performed my own gender, and shame about being into all this yaoi shit in the first place. I had internet friends by this time, but I didn’t tell any of my real life friends about my online activities. I had an absolute horror of being seen as the type of straight girl (or bi girl, as I identified at the time) who fetishizes real life queer men.
Currently, I’m in the middle of reading Patrick O’Brian’s Aubrey/Maturin series. I fucking love it, and something about it has helped me square some of the circles involved here; discussing these books, with other fans online and with unwilling victims loving friends and family members has led me to reflect on some of the above in ways I never have before. It feels freeing in a way I never even knew I was constrained. To bring it back to the quote from the beginning, and also add a passage from the eighth novel in O’Brian’s series:
“‘With the wind as it lies, I believe we may look for them the day after tomorrow,’ said Jack. ‘But tell me, Professor, is not this a most prodigious wearisome ride you are undertaking?[...]’
'No doubt,’ said Graham, ‘but the sea is an uncertain chancy whimsical female lunar element: you advance one mile upon its surface and at the same time the whole body of water has retired a league. I prefer the honest earth, where my advance is absolute, however arduous…” - The Ionian Mission, ch.11, paragraph 50
This character, a haughty diplomat our protagonists are forced to deal with while battling it out with the French in a Grecian port, is not very important in and of himself. Unlike the two principals of the Aubrey/Maturin series, he is no seaman and has no affinity for shipboard life, and his uneasiness while onboard the ship is tinged with a misogynist mistrust of the Mediterranean itself. I prefer to take a horse, like a man, he seems to say, but you and Maturin, feel free to stay here in your gay little boat.
(Sidenote/fun fact about Jack Aubrey: he has pretensions of being a horseman whenever he’s on land for any length of time, but he is in fact really bad with them and while riding is frequently unseated nearly but not quite as often as Stephen falls out of the fucking boat.)
That is one and this is another of the many, many ways Jack Aubrey and Stephen Maturin get kinda fruity with it; our two main characters are differentiated from landsmen (lubbers!) in this way throughout the series. The sea is dangerous, of course; Jack and Stephen, who face naval battles, sickness and disease, shipwrecks, storms, and volcanic eruptions on their voyages throughout the series, know this better than anyone.  As different as Jack and Stephen are, as different as two men can possibly be, what unites them is a niggling, persistent discomfort with life on land and this, coupled with their very great affection for each other, is why they choose to sail with each other over and over again. Though they came to it by different means, each of them finds that their true homes are on the sea, and with each other.
The essential yaoi of the seaman, the essential chancy, lunar, yuri element of the sea…. There’s something about it that makes me smile. Yeah…the ocean. She’s a little gay with it. Who isn’t?

Fictional Character Ask: Miss Piggy?
Favorite thing about them: Where to start? Her glamor and confidence. Her hilarious ego. Her unstoppable feistiness and determination. The funny contrast between the elegant, glamorous lady persona she performs and the tough, brash "pig" side she can never quite hide. (Which I just recently realized is relatable to those of us on the autism spectrum trying to perform social expectations). Her unexpected moments of real sweetness and vulnerability. It's no wonder she's such an icon!
I also love that even though she's heavyset, she has total confidence in her own beauty. And even though the other Muppets sometimes make annoying jokes about her weight, she's still treated as beautiful and desirable by men of various different species.
Least favorite thing about them: Her violent streak, especially her habit of karate chopping Kermit. The tradition of female-on-male violence being played for laughs should really be questioned, not just with the Muppets but in all media.
Three things I have in common with them:
*I'm a plus-sized female.
*I have a temper, though I don't let it show as much as I used to.
*I love music and entertainment.
Three things I don't have in common with them:
*I'm not an actress or a model.
*I'm not attracted to frogs.
*I'm not blonde.
Favorite line:
From The Great Muppet Caper, when she's insulting Nicky Holiday after he frames her for the jewel theft:
"You can't even sing! Your voice was dubbed!"
From Muppet Treasure Island:
"Well hello, Looooong John!"
And when Long John suspends her over a cliff (after Kermit/Captain Smollett had left her at the altar and Captain Flint had marooned her):
"You know, I'm beginning to see a pattern in the men I date."
brOTP: Most of the other Muppets (even if they do sometimes make fun of her, it's clear that they really are friends), and her dog Foo-Foo.
I'd especially like to see her share more friendship moments with Janice, since they're the two most prominent female Muppets from the "classic" era of the '70s and '80s.
OTP: Kermit, in the moments when her temper and his reluctance to commit don't get in the way.
nOTP: Nicky Holiday from The Great Muppet Caper, or worse, Constantine from Muppets Most Wanted.
Random headcanon: Quite a few of the other Muppet pigs are related to her. According to Frank Oz, she has many siblings – part of why she went into show business was because she couldn't bear the thought of becoming an overworked housewife with too many kids like her mother was. It makes sense to think that some of her siblings went into show business too, as did their children. Muppets Tonight made it canon that Andy and Randy, who originally played her brothers in Muppet Classic Theatre, are really her nephews – I also imagine that the two little girl pigs who played her daughters Belinda and Bettina in The Muppet Christmas Carol are her nieces, cousins to Andy and Randy.
Unpopular opinion: I agree with @ariel-seagull-wings that she looks better with curly hair, or at least wavy hair, than with straight hair. That said, her frizzy '80s perm in The Muppets Take Manhattan was a little extreme: loose curls suit her better.
Song I associate with them:
"Mad About the Frog" from the Leslie Uggams episode of The Muppet Show.
youtube
"Some of These Days" from the Loretta Swit episode of The Muppet Show.
youtube
"Never Before, Never Again" from The Muppet Movie.
youtube
"Miss Piggy's Fantasy" from The Great Muppet Caper.
youtube
"I'm Gonna Always Love You" from The Muppets Take Manhattan.
youtube

Hello Quin! Local raccoon here with a question: your top five movies? (and, if yiu want to expand, do you have a favourite genre?)
ooooooooh
The Last Unicorn (1982) - simply just my all-time favorite, never defeated, love everything about it. the Author is an amazingly wonderful human being.
2. The Core - it's awful, it's so awful, I love it. I can watch it on repeat and never grow bored.
3. John Wick Series 4. *anything* with Jet Li in it. 5. The Mummy - the good one with the scrumptious cast.
Action. I love action movies. I live and breathe action flicks. I love the ones that are campy and the ones that are as close to reality as you can get. I love behind the scenes for them.
Second to action, I love animated films. Animated films, regardless of genre, are often very visual, and so they rarely rely on tropes seen in live action shows, like second hand embarrassment, miscommunication, ye random social interaction - they just show you in a well exaggerated manner and yeah. I like that better.
Honorable Mention: Muppet movies. Treasure Island especially, but I love all of them XD

I'm gonna talk about shows in my brain right now, and if you have any thoughts, I would love to hear them! (Especially if you see these in a different way!)
(For context, these are shows I watched when I was young, and I'm just revisiting them in my mind, so I'm probs getting things wrong)
Okay, so-
Hey Arnold: We seek to understand each other and ourselves. By existing in community with one another, our lives will be richer. Be curious about the beauty in the world, and be brave! My only complaint is that Helga feels far too interesting to not be the main character. Also, the background art is so pretty!
Doug: I truly love the honesty in the character writing, the playful art direction, and the willingness to grapple with difficult emotions, often resolving in messy ways. When I was young, it depressed me to think I might be a Doug (in personality/character). Thought I am dorky, and I love daydreaming, like our titular character, it has delighted me to no end to find out that I'm just as much of a Judy (moreso, even)!
Recess: As a child, I felt filled with joy at the rebellious zest for life of this group of friends, and a fair bit jealous. As I look back, I am a bit depressed imagining a group of rebellious kids slowly stop their fight against "the system" and beginning to drift apart. I don't have any other thoughts here, and I carry both that sadness and that joy with me now, post-reflection. Idk, I just like grumpy buds.
The Muppets (Main show, Muppet Babies, Treasure Island, etc.): I mean, baller show. I really just want to talk about Gonzo (adult-me understands child-me's fascination with the character much better now), but I will refrain. I've decided to complain that Oscar the Grouch was not a member of the Muppets. The Muppets have plenty of great complainers, a few wise-guys, and at least one Monster, but they really could have used a Grouch.
Ahh! Real Monsters! (Not sure if this is the right spelling, but I'm not looking it up): We, as humans, would be so far ahead if everyone could have witnessed thus (joking, mostly). I love this show. I feel kinship, true fellowship, with just about every character in this disgustingly beautiful work of art. My tiny child brain really thought I might have a shot at living in the sewers and dumps as a monster, and that got me through so much, tbh.
Sorry for the many-words, I hope this letter finds you well.

TAG NINE PEOPLE YOU’D LIKE TO KNOW BETTER!
Tumblr media
favourite colour(s): Pink, red, purple, green, pink.
favourite genre(s): I'm a big fan of anything really, from slice of life to angst - murder, mayhem, or even soft. Give it to me. I have been craving more found family content, so there is that.
favourite music: I love music, if I'm not listening to music I'm pretty sick, to be honest. From Rock to metal, to pop. But not really Country and Western (with the exception of Dolly Parton and Johnny Cash.) I'm pretty partial to Deftones, Chino has the hottest voice.
favourite movie: Movies are hard because I just generally don't watch them, I have been rewatching a lot of Muppet Treasure Island. If that is any consolation.
favourite series: Anime-wise, Gatchaman Crowds or Katanagatari have to be absolute favs, I tend to rewatch them on a regular basis - especially when I'm forcing other people to appreciate them. I certainly don't get tired of either of them. Books-wise, I was a fan of the King Killer Chronicles but I sorta lost touch with it.
last song: Currently listening to an array of songs from Arknights, literally playing ManiFesto at the moment.
last series: I've been into this series on youtube called Coffeehouse Crimes, true crimes with weird twists to them. Yes, it is my guilty pleasure.
last movie: Oh, Isekai Quartet Movie- Another World. It was fun, and nice to watch with the boys! There were a few yick moments, especially with Megumin, but overall it was good. It's made me excited for the next season of Tanya the Evil.
currently reading: Been enjoying Johnny got his Gun, it's one of my favorite books - very thought-provoking, with my line of work in mind. It's a man who had been in war and lost his arms, legs, sight, hearing, and voice - all he can do is sit there and think. He manages to communicate with morse code, using his head.
currently watching: In the midst of watching some things with my friend Steve, including the Cold Steel Anime. We're also in the process of watching the English Dub of Akame Ga Kill. We all know how I feel about Rean Schwarzer, and I do love Akame Ga Kill.
currently working on: My drafts, funnily enough, had a chill day today so it might take a little bit - but I've been working on them.

Headcanons for kitty watching muppet treasure island? The found family aspect is sort of there via Jim and long John. Also long John has a bit of Eleanor’s personality as he appears to be friendly but he as evil motives. Finally cabin fever is a banger
-Well for one, I think Kitty would just love the Muppets in general. I think she'd find them very entertaining and cheerful, and that she would especially like Kermit and Sam Eagle as they could remind her of Cap.
I think she'd definitely like the songs too, although maybe (at least in the beginning,) something like Cabin Fever, and even Professional Pirate, as she'd wonder why being bad was appealing at all), would be kind of confusing for her.
And I totally agree about Long John and Eleanor. Especially once he swaggers onto the screen and the whole relationship with Jim starts, I don't think it would take her too long to see through his ways (if she fell for them at all and didn't immediately see through him and realize he was a very bad man.) And that would, by the end, make her feel a kinship with Jim because he faced someone who led him on and ended up betraying him, which might help her work through things with Eleanor (although it seems she's better about it).
I do think also that the whole atmosphere of the pirate ship and all the mix of personalities would make her think of how it's like Button house and the mix of personalities there, so I can totally see her wanting to maybe have that adventure with that crew, idealize it in that way.
And yes, Cabin Fever is the best of bangers. :)

kindly consider:
Jim Howick as Dr Livesey and Pew, Mathew Baynton as the Squire and Billy Bones, Ben Willbond as Smolett, Simon Farnaby as Silver, Larry Rickard as Ben Gunn and Israel Hands, Martha Howe-Douglas as Mrs Hawkins and Abraham Grey
oh, these are all such good casting ideas! Mine are somewhat different, but I can certainly see your logic here, and you've opened up some very interesting lines of thought.
I'd started out assuming that you were going for a Livesey characterization that's a little closer to the mad scientist we get in the Muppets version, but thinking on it further, I think he could definitely pull off both Livesey's dry and dangerous side and the parmesan situation without it seeming incongruous.
Interesting choice as regards Trelawney - I'd never think of that in a million years, but it could work! and with your Howick!Livesey, you still maintain that difference in shape language that I think any good version of the gentlemen needs.
I have no commentary at all on the next three except phrases such as 'PERFECT' and '10/10' and 'NO NOTES'. Simon Farnaby is amazing at finding the exact line between slimy and endearing in almost every role I've seen him in, and Larry Rickard is an absolute chameleon of a man, who I'm sure could definitely pull off whatever would be needed to make the double-casting function even though both roles mostly interact with Jim. And even outside of the fiction where the group adaptation we're pitching here exists, Ben Willbond would be my instantaneous choice for Smollett if I was casting any sort of Treasure Island adaptation.
I do also think that Martha Howe-Douglas would be an interesting choice as Smollett (some time ago I saw a recording of a play where they'd cast a woman as Smollett, and while it wasn't done especially well, the idea has a lot of interesting potential to play with) but I think your choice of Gray is quite inspired!
thank you, pondering this was great fun!

NAME: Mike’s Pawn Shop
LOCATION: Worm Row
Inside Mike’s Pawn Shop, you’ll find your everyday pawn shop that rivals even some of those reality television pawn shops. From jewelry to lawn mowers and electronics, this pawn shop has it all. Mike prides himself on being able to spot fake jewelry and handbags from a mile away. Even with the mineral abnormality directly behind the shop, the inflatable dancing man in the parking lot is what draws the eyes of potential customers. Its dance moves are a mystery even to the owner, Mike. Somehow, the inflatable dancer moves in the opposite direction of the wind and in motions that passersby find enchanting.
Unbeknownst to the owner, the shop has a good number of cursed items on the shelf. It does make a convenient drop off for cursed items and sellers even stand to make a small profit while getting the cursed item off their hands.
The owner, Mike, sometimes accidentally starts small fires. Being a smoker, he usually writes these incidents off as nothing more than clumsiness, but those who believe Serpent’s Flat is malevolent think it’s had an effect on him.
Some of the items that haven’t sold in years have also developed some strange properties due to their proximity to the mineral abnormality. A few swear they can hear the melody from “Careless Whisper” softly echoing in the saxophone.
Every single TV for sale in the shop plays The Muppets Treasure Island on loop. Mike gets very irritable if anyone tries to change it.
The vending machines outside have been broken for about 5 years now, and it’s looking unlikely they’ll ever be fixed. Rather than taping a sign over it that says “don’t use,” Mike lets the machine eat peoples’ money then collects it at the end of the week.
Mike has a special fondness of old photos, especially ones of local critters and cryptids, and prices them outrageously to deter people from buying them. He likes keeping them around.

If you had to align the main characters’ ethical stance’s with any well-known label (relativism, consequentialism, determinism, etc) for HoHW, how would you do it? You’ve taken most of the fantastic elements out of the canon and it makes your Stede just an absolutely fascinating person, ethically speaking. I’d also love to know Bryce’s take, especially on Izzy’s sins.
Thanks for your question, friend ❤ I'm guessing you're the same secret person who also asked about some of Izzy's actions early in the story, and if they'll be addressed? In short: yes, and you'll get to see Bryce's take on it. A lot of things have been buried. Only some of them are actually dead.
I'm afraid I'm not schooled enough in the right terminology to give you a confident answer re: labels - I also try to let stories explain themselves where I can - but I'm happy to say I'm obsessed with the way that the crush of genres in the show sets up a unique micro-climate in which absolute ethical insanity not only survives but flourishes. So... here's Ed, he can't bear to take a life but he sleeps like a baby if someone else skins a person and drowns them for him. This is Stede, he is the epitome of Lawful Good and also wants Lucius to make special note of the gusto during a violent raid. This is Mary. She's going to kill Stede with a skewer now because he's irritating and inconvenient to her, and we absolutely support her in that. It's just... it defies all sense and it's brilliant. I took one look at it and fell in love.
And I wanted to see what would happen if I upgraded Izzy to protagonist, and added his POV to the mix.
It turns out everything tips away from Muppets Treasure Island and towards Black Sails.
