April is cesarean section awareness month. As a newborn photographer and Mum of two, both delivered by caesarian section, I can confirm that a cesarean section is NOT a lucky break. It is not the "easy" way out. A cesarean is NOT glorified labour, there is NOTHING glorious about it. When I ended up with an emergency C-section due to my first baby being breach and going into distress after 12 hours of labour I felt cheated out of the natural birth I had mentally been preparing for. But what upset and surprised me even more were the comments that were made over the next few months from friends, family and post natal group ladies... comments like.. Ahh too posh to push You were lucky You cheated. Here's what I DO think when I see a Mum who has just had a c-section . You poor thing, you have been cut open to save both your babies life and your own, you have had hands inside you pulling you about, you feel as though you have been stabbed in the gut over and over and are scared to stand upright, you won't be able to drive for 6 weeks after this major abdominal surgery but you still need to care and look after a newborn baby, you will have a scar which will never disappear, and if it's like mine it will look like someone has hidden a hot dog there....... so if you had a c-section, you were really were unlucky. You see, when it comes to having a baby there is definitely no easy way out.. You do what you have to do. Either way, a human is leaving your body and there is no right or wrong way. If you were in a car crash and you couldn't get out of the doors, you would have to find another way if it's the only chance of survival.. it's the same. So my reply should have been ... 'Shut up Betty, I'm a survivor!'. So I'll end this blurb with a big hug for all of those who have been through a cesarean. *nights out V nights out* From my nans curtains to a white clingy dress! 😬 I didn’t lose weight for anyone but ME! I had a lot of my friends say the classic “but your fine as you are, I don’t think you need to lose weight” but I ignored them as I wasn’t doing it for them. Then when I hit my goal and lost 3 stone those same friends said “well I don’t remember you being THAT big before” 🙄 Cheers! 😂 What I’m trying to say is, don’t change you for anyone else. If you want to lose weight, good for you! If you don’t, good for you! Everyone is different. The 1:1 diet may not be for everyone, a lot of people call it a FAD diet. To be fair I was probably one of them way back when. 😳 but it’s worked for me, it’s worked for thousands of other men & women too - don’t judge others way of doing things for them even if you don’t agree with the way they do it. 21/04/2020 A date that has changed us for the better,forever💕💕💕 On this day exactly one year ago,we have discovered we were expecting you! I guess most women have a sort of expectation on how they’d feel once the lines appear or,like in our case,the word appears... Something became visible and in that moment your life inevitably changes forever. I remember feeling overwhelmed with different emotions,I stated shaking and I remember feeling shocked...Thousands of different thoughts started to came up to my mind...am I going to be a good mother?how will life be with this enormous responsibility on my shoulder?how would I cope?Am I ready for it? I remember I kind of started shaking,lightly...few tears came down my cheeks and off the bathroom I went looking for daddy. You dad was in the living room waiting for me to tell him what the test was saying and I remember looking at him in the eyes and once I said “yes” he smiled back with his biggest and most beautiful smile ever ❤️❤️❤️❤️ In that moment everything became real and I realised how we have been blessed and how lucky we were despite what was going on around the world... I remember feeling grateful:while people all around the world were loosing their loved ones,we were growing our family... We were growing life while around we could only see uncertainty and fear.... But now more than ever, for both girls and boys, it’s so important. I look at my body now, and I know that it’s so different to how it used to be at 20. I might have a dodgy knee, a niggley back, and make weird growling noises if I ever have to stand from a sitting position... I have stretch marks, and cellulite, and love handles and my boobs have been stretched and eaten to death. BUT I know how strong my body is now. I know what it’s been through, and what it can go through. Our bodies are utterly incredible and capable of miracles. That’s why we need to learn to appreciate them in all their forms and sizes. Yesterday was our pumpkin carving day 🎃🎃🎃 It can be a messy job, especially with pumpkins that size, so the foil on the floor saved us a lot of work. 🙈 And I know it's now in fashion to carve them a bit more artistically, I've seen pumpkins that are real work of art, but ours are simple.
