modern!eddie x f!reader
summary: eddie does his damndest to get us out of the study to take a frickin' break.
a/n: My blog is 18 +, minors DNI; purely self-indulgent smut and prosaic idolatry here, my usual brand of filth.

Grad school could suck a dick. A whole bag of ‘em as far as you were concerned. The entirety of your summer had been taken up by this final class— a subject you loved, but far too much reading and work assigned for the condensed semester.
Eddie thought so too.
The man was quick to chime in when you’d had a glass of wine or two and finally extricated yourself from the front room you’d claimed as an office. Couldn’t understand how you would be complaining one minute and then the second he adds his two cents, you’re defending the professor in question.
But then again, you’d always been tender-hearted.
Which more than explained your penchant for collecting strays, present company excluded, naturally.
“That’s it,” he says, fingers working to peel the damp label from the beer bottle. “First thing tomorrow, I’m gettin’ on the horn with this so-called professor.”
“Eddieeee,” you whine, lips falling into a pout. “Don’t do that.”
He leans into it really playing it up, an eye roll and scoff combo, head inclining to rest on your shoulder as he falls on you dramatically.
“Can’t have my best girl pulling all-nighters every other week.”
His voice was softer, not laced with his typical jocular tone. The bright images of the screen dance across your faces in the cool room. Eddie settles against you, warm breath fanning across your chest and neck.
He can see the subtle dark hues beneath your eyes, hates the evidence of your sleepless nights spent in front of the computer, nose buried in a book.
“I know,” you rasp after a beat or two. “I’ll get better baby, I promise. S’just a few more weeks and then I’m army-crawling to the finish line.”
He cracks a smile, unable to hide his elation at your accomplishment— at you.
Eddie Munson and his genius girlfriend, who would’ve thought?

So it really shouldn’t be a surprise a week or two later when Eddie wanders into the study to find you up at all hours of the night. Again.
“Babe—”
“Jesus Christ!” You jolt in your chair, startled by the sound, and slowly swivel toward him. A deep breath once you realize who it is, eyes adjusting to the darkness of the room.
And, sure enough, your boyfriend is standing there wiping the sleep from his eyes, sporting his Suspiria sweats and looking entirely displeased.
“God Eds, make a noise! You’re like Ruth Gordon just standing there with a tannis root.”
He crosses his arms with a sign, ignoring your barb. Ruth Gordon, with her blue eye shadow and head scarf? Puh-leeze.
“You said you’d be ten minutes.”
You shudder at the timbre of his voice— raspy and low, hitting the sweet spot that sends heat rushing to your core.
“Shit, I’m sorry, babe.”
Glasses discarded and hair askew, you sigh catching the time and start to pack it in for the night.
Eddie is surprisingly quick for someone snatched from sleep and dreaming, he turns your chair away from the desk and fixes you with a look.
The penetrating kind, where he squints and tilts his head like he just can’t figure you out. And yeah, he’s never really understood academia or why the books you’ve had to buy are always so damn expensive. But he does his best to support you, reminds you to eat and sleep more than he’d like because you have the tendency of getting too caught up and distracted.
His gaze softens, “C’mere pretty girl.”
Eddie picks you up and throws you over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes, despite your protests. Smacks your ass for good measure.
“M’gonna fall!”
“No, you aren’t,” he tuts, “Such a drama queen.”
He barrels through the dark house only to deposit you in the dimly lit bathroom. A shaft of light eeks in from a partially opened closet door, candles flickering on countertops catching their reflections in the mirror.
Right side up again, you pause and take a look around. The bathtub is filling up, bubbles growing in soft peaks of foam, and a bath bomb fizzles away, painting the water in candy-colored hues.
There’s a glass of wine and another of ice water, sweating against the ledge of the tub. An iPad propped up in the corner, your favorite show cued up and ready to go.
“Baby,” you say, turning back to him, voice barely above a whisper. “What is all this?”
He takes a step toward you, the slightest inclination of his chin prompting your hands to rise above your head. Eddie’s nimble fingers find the hem of your shirt and tug it upwards, soft fabric brushing against your skin only to be kissed with damp heat.
“Jus’ wanna take care of you,” he says simply, quietly. As if he’d rather do nothing else.
“Oh.”
His fingers alight on the waist of your shorts, thumbs hooking in and pulling down.
“Hmm.” He says, kneeling in front of you, brow quirked and eyes seeking yours. “Feelin’ lucky today or—"
The heat rises in your chest and neck, hands flying to cover your face while he lazily peruses your bare form.
Not so much luck as it was sheer exhaustion that informed your sartorial choices and distinct lack of underwear today, but you’ll take what you can get.
His breath ghosts along your thighs, muscles tightening inadvertently, the coil in your stomach winding taut.
As you step out of the shorts, Eddie turns off the faucet and herds you back against the sink. A brief lift and you're sitting on the countertop, legs splayed, head falling against the cool mirror behind you.
Eddie buries his head between your legs, and smothers praises between your thighs.
Eddie's pretty sentimental with oral— kissing, kissing, kissing— can't stop his lips from meandering, can't stop his mouth from savoring. He noses against your slit, tongue darting out to taste. A low rumble ripped from his chest as the slick muscle works against your petaled heat, savoring the arousal gathered there.
He gets dizzy off it. Selfish for it. It all goes to his head— whimpers and moans falling from your candy-pink mouth, a prolonged whine of his name.
Left, then right, back over again. Drowsy roaming paths, curving and bending, pleased when you arch into his mouth, forever wanting more. Licks you for hours like you’re the last bit of sweetness in the world, savors it long and lazy and delicate.
"Sweetheart," he sighs, pulling away briefly. Lips ruddy and wet with your slick, smiling slow and dangerous, “You’re fucking delicious, baby.”
You moan on his clever tongue and the sloppy sounds he makes. He's always stunning— eager and devoted to the singular task of lapping at you like a starved man.
Two fingers twist inside before he turns them back and shoves them in his own mouth. He repeats this again and again, like pulling a secret from your body that only he’s allowed to enjoy.
“Yes,” he sighs, “Fuck yes. Fuck—mmm—"
It's as if you're on the precipice of a coming storm, pressure building, and rising, too, in your belly, as he works into your body, heavy-lidded and transfixed on your beautiful face. Deeper until you’re shaking, pulling your legs up over his shoulders, getting him closer, closer, closer.
Your toes curl.
"Eddie—"
You shatter like a splinter of lightning. It bursts across your skin—a bright, brief halo—before it’s gone, chased by the explosion of swollen clouds. He muffles a loud fuck! into the meat of your ass, while his fingers continue to corkscrew inside of you.
He's wet down to his wrist, coaxing vestiges of arousal from you, and rises to kiss your open, panting mouth, your exposed throat. Eddie's lips turned wicked and desperate when he asks, "Think you can gimme another one?"
Nodding dumbly, bath and freshly laundered sheets completely forgotten, you watch as he all but yanks you down further, ass now hanging off the countertop. Swings your legs over his shoulders and dives back in, your cunt now positively flooded due to his velvet tongue.
On the bright side, this all-nighter was exceedingly better than the one you had planned; you wouldn't have it any other way. Well played Eddie Munson.

A short obligatory year-ender post
As we approach the end of 2023, I reflect on the highs and lows of life. This year has been filled with both positive and negative experiences — losses, changes, mistakes, and moments of doubt. I'm still grateful despite these challenges because I'm still here, pushing forward, growing, and learning along the way.
This year served as a reminder to be thankful for both the big and small things alike. It was about appreciating the everyday moments that often go unnoticed. So, I want to express my gratitude to all the people who were with me throughout this year. Your high-spirited energy and presence are very much appreciated. I'm also genuinely grateful for the often-overlooked little joys—the tight hugs, the 'I remember you' and 'I have something for you' messages, the words of affirmation, the packed or free cooked food for me to bring to the office, the whispered 'I have chika,' the coffee and food dates, the everyday budol, the free rides, the unexpected gifts, the book and movie/series recommendations, the memes and reels you guys continuously send on IG and Facebook. All these didn't go unnoticed, and I truly appreciate it. You have made 2023 more enjoyable and unforgettable. Cheers to the lessons learned and the memories made.
It is always the simple joys that truly matter.

PLEASE I NEED TO KNOW—
How were the Huagou monkeys doing when SWK returned? And what happened to them, their home, after SWK became a Buddha (the other too?)
OKAY @sunny-days-and-warm-mournings so the story actually ends pretty much right after the pilgrims complete the journey and receive their new religious designations, so there's no word on what happens to the Mt. Huaguoshan troop afterwards. From what little I know of the 17th century fan sequel Journey to the South, however, one imagination is that Sun Wukong went back to live with them presumably as their guardian and king, and even had at least three kids (Quidou, Luohou, and Yuebei Xingjun).
In Journey to the West itself, however, the Mt. Huaguoshan monkey yao go through one tragedy after another. The first time we see what happened to the troop was right after Sun Wukong returns home after being banished for the first time from the pilgrim group. Here he sees the devastation that the war with heaven left in its wake even 500 years later, which basically left Flower-Fruit Mountain a withered and barren wasteland since Erlang Shen and his sworn brothers had burned it "to total ruin" after Sun Wukong was captured.
While he's grieving the state of his home, a few little monkeys run out and after excitedly greeting SWK tell him that in addition to living in a wasteland they're also being relentlessly hunted by humans. SWK furthermore learns that between the heaven's fire, migration to hopefully more fecund lands, starvation, and the hunters, the Mt. Huaguoshan troop was reduced to "no more than a thousand" from a population of 47,000 monkeys in Mt. Huaguoshan's heyday.
The monkeys beg SWK "'to take care of us,'" and the Monkey King starts this by slaughtering about a thousand of the hunters persecuting his "little ones," along with their horses. He then tells the monkeys to strip the human corpses of their clothes and weapons before dumping the bodies in a lake so that they can "ward off the cold" and start up military drills to learn how to protect themselves again. He also orders the horse corpses to be stripped of their hides to be made into boots and for their meat to be cured for consumption. After this, Sun Wukong "gathered together more fiends and beasts by the day, and he stored up all kinds of foodstuff...As he enjoyed wide friendship and great power, he had no trouble in borrowing some sweet, divine water from the Dragon Kings of the Four Oceans to wash his mountain and make it green again. He next planted elms and willows in front, pines and cedars in the back; peach, pear, date, and plum--he had them all. He then settled down to enjoy life without a care."
Soon after Sun Wukong restores Mt. Huaguoshan to something close to its former fecundity and violently ensures the safety of his "little ones" for a time, of course, he's called back to the pilgrimage. The monkeys beg him not to go, but Sun Wukong tells them: "Little ones, watch what you are saying. My accompaniment of the Tang Monk is no private matter, for Heaven and Earth know that Sun Wukong is his disciple [and therefore he's compelled to resume the journey]...You all must take good care of our property and don't fail to plant to willows and the pines in due seasons. Wait till I finish accompanying the Tang Monk and taking the scriptures back to the Land of the East. After that merit is achieved, I'll return to enjoy the joys to nature with you." So SWK does leave the monkeys in much better shape with both lots of food and the means to protect themselves, and seems sincere in his promise to to come back.
BUT NO ONE EXPECTS THE SIX-EARED MACAQUE. The second time SWK returns to Mt. Huaguoshan he finds an imposter on his throne who he describes as having "take[n] my descendants [the monkeys] captive," and indeed before they meet Xiyouji made it abundantly clear that LEMH doesn't care about the Mt. Huaguoshan monkeys outside of how he can use them as tools to achieve his own journey. Hell, after Sha Wujing kills the monkey that was impersonating him, LEMH instructs the others to "have the dead monkey skinned. Then his meat was taken to be fried and served as food along with coconut and grape wines. After their meal, that Pilgrim selected another monkey monster who knew transformation to change into a Sha Monk. He again gave them instructions on how to go to the West..."
So yes, not many fun times for the Mt. Huaguoshan monkeys after the war with heaven. Even so, their love for Sun Wukong and Sun Wukong's love for them is consistent.

Hey MT, Marketing Anon again.
Seeing all the Melissa and Caryl pics made my day! I’m so glad we’re FINALLY getting some confirmation.
But I’ve noticed a TON of confusion surrounding the spinoff since the snippet of the teaser a few nights ago. Then the subsequent internet explosion that occurred when my wish was granted, and we finally got some McReedus content (I may or may not have squealed with joy—you can’t prove this without witnesses).
I saw your post about the spinoff and the confusion around it. I figured I’ll add some info that may clarify why it all seems weird—MT, you hit the nail on the head with some points I’ll cover here. As always, this is my speculation, take what resonates <3
Why Does the Eventual Caryl Spinoff News Feel Confusing?
This may be a bit boring, but it clarifies a lot, so stick with me.
Season 1
Based on what we know about Season 1 of the spinoff—it's catered toward a younger male audience. It’s a fresh new audience that may stick around and won’t be resistant to new storylines, characters, villains, etc. So they can break the mould of the old show and veer into newer territory under the same branding umbrella, which over the years has garnered intrigue to pull a cold audience, aka those who don’t know what the content is but have heard of it. (How many times have you tried something because your friends raved about it? Heck, how many of you started TWD that way?) It’s FOMO—a tried and true method to pull cold audiences.
In marketing, you do market research to learn more about your target audience so you can create content geared toward them. IF used correctly, Reddit is an “untapped gold mine” of market research to help attract your target audience (source: pipeline.zoominfo.com/marketing/reddit-market-research).
Like you said, MT, 74% of Reddit users are people in their 20s who identify as male. Half of that audience is based in the US (source: blog.gitnux.com/reddit-user-statistics). This fits in with the criteria of attracting a younger male audience. And many Redditors from this demographic are resistant to Daryl being paired with a woman his own age that he has clearly been in love with for a decade (marketing anon, your Caryler is showing). You’re welcome to look it up on Reddit and see for yourself. So they’re not married to Caryl and are open to having new female leads on the spinoff.
So if I were marketing that show, that’s where I would go for research.
I suspect nightclubs and nuns were part of that strategy, but they added the young male kid in to show Daryl’s fatherly side. Absent father figures may be a major pain point for the audience they want to reach in S1—because, sadly, approximately 12 million boys in the US grow up without a father (source: rb.gy/o72re). It fits the demographic they're trying to attract. And it’s also a good way to preserve the ‘Daryl we know’ to hook the old audience while attracting the new.
Unfortunately, the reactions by that audience to S1 have been mixed—which, as I mentioned in a previous anon, is a marketer's worst nightmare. So you either change your content/strategy or find an audience that engages with and wants your content/strategy. It’s obviously too late to redo S1 since it has wrapped filming. The only option is to modify it as much as you can to appeal to an audience that is engaging to them—Carylers.
Which brings me to…
Season 2
Season 2 is a whole other strategy—it's completely catered toward Carylers and Melissa fans. They’ve used Caryl content to attract the attention of Carylers for the last decade, they’re going with what they know. Think about the news in the last few weeks. How many of us wanted all of that? They KNOW how to attract us. So Season 2 is a no-brainer IF done correctly.
So How Does This Explain the Spinoff Confusion?
The information we have is extremely ambiguous—When does it air? Who is the main villain? Why are they shooting 2 seasons back to back? What does it mean by a complete ‘reset’? What’s the damn name—Daryl Dixon or Raise the Dead or Pilgrim or something else to fit Caryl?
To further complicate things, they have two sets of audiences that they’re trying to cater to, but only one is responding to them on social media. Just look at the trajectory of the news:
Bathtub leak (nothing)
Rumours of Carol returning (Melissa trends on Twitter)
Daryl “in production” teaser (nothing)
Melissa spotted in the wilderness (Melissa/Caryl trend on Twitter)
Daryl snippet and the promise of a teaser (nothing)
The next day we see Mcreedus and Melissa McBride (Melissa/Caryl trend on Twitter—I think Melissa is still trending 2 days later)
Yes, there were times Daryl was also trending, but if you looked at the top posts, they all had to do with his relationship with Carol or TF in some way. The news that is promoting S2 is getting more attention. Hence creating a cluster of fans (from both groups, S1 group and S2 group) who are confused about when Melissa is joining.
So without clarifying, they’re thriving on the confusion. And instead of doing separate promo for S1, they’re cruising on the buzz generated by all the Melissa and McReedus sightings and keeping people wondering.
That way, Carylers join in and watch S1 with the promise of more Caryl (more info in my previous speculation post to MT).
So What Is REALLY Happening With the Eventual Caryl Spinoff?
It's exactly that—an eventual Caryl spinoff.
S1 is still a solo Daryl show where he is a fish out of water—exploring France, meeting the nun and her nephew, fighting villains, and trying to find a way home.
Melissa McBride joins in S2 of the spinoff.
In S2, Caryl clearly join forces in a location that parallels Consumed.
S1 airs sometime in the fall (I’ve heard September thrown around a lot, but we may get confirmation of that and of Melissa’s return at SDCC).
S2 air date is still TBA.
That’s all the reliable source-backed information we have so far. Melissa may have a cameo in the S1 finale but it hasn't been confirmed. We don’t know if the romantic canon is in the cards yet, although they tried to tease it with that ring on Melissa’s finger. Again, a promise of what you get if you tune in.
Where Does That Leave You, Dear Caryler?
If you signed up for to watch Caryl together—there’s still time for that. S1 still seems to be mostly Daryl with the French entourage. But Melissa is back, and she looks extremely happy. For me, personally, that counts as a sunny day after a cold, hard winter of her absence, her brief SDCC sighting, and nothing but tearful pictures of her during the final days of TWD shoots.
Remember that the timing of every piece of news you got isn’t a coincidence. They’re doubling down on getting Carylers’ attention because they need you to tune in.
Your view has value, your perspective is important—and you deserve to withhold investment until YOU feel they’ve earned it.

Catering to two (opposing) groups is making me want to rip my hair out. How do you maintain longterm viewership that way?? No one’s going to be satisfied, and I’m concerned I’m going to resent what they do with Daryl in S1 so much, I won’t have the heart for S2 anymore. So I’d really like that addressed somehow.
Panels may not happen this year, but still holding out hope for an official announcement on Melissa, Caryl, and that damn title. And I want language that emphasizes it’s Norman’s AND Melissa’s show. Not Melissa joining Norman’s show because that’s not true.

Due to both inside and outside influences, multiple versions of this reality fan out from that point. Those that comply with all the aforementioned parameters can collectively be called the Alpha Timeline. It is like a highway, some lanes taking several laps before continuing along the same track; but if a lane takes an alternate route– if it deviates from this timeframe or certain details about its contents– that is when it is counted as an alternate.
Most alternates can be classified as ATs (alternate timelines), AUs (alternate universes) or UAs– universe alterations– which may be either of the two. There are also APs– alternate phenomena. This classification includes outer environments that aren't their own complete universes, events that occur across universes, and outcodes– universary exiles. Outcodes may be orphaned from retracted timelines, survivors of lost universes, or outsiders in origin.
To better understand the multiverse and our place in it, it is time to examine "COREtale."
One AT was generated when an iteration of Frisk... ... ...became a goner against their will. They meant no harm reliving the joy their journey underground so many times, but while their Sans did not have Reset-resistant memory like Flowey, he was aware of them enough to grow desperate. While this Frisk was a pacifist every timeloop, the existential dread only needed to make Sans panic once.

This was not the first or the last Frisk to [▢▢▢▢▢▢▢▢], but similarly, it only had to affect one with such omnipresence as to see every loop of every timeline of every universe in our multiverse as they come and go.
It is because of this that a Frisk could discover a deeper truth about our reality. That ours is just one multiverse of many. And relative to some entities, this constellation of multiverses– the omniverse– these realities as a whole are, to these outer influences, Fiction, because they are able to transcribe the aforementioned code and alter it. It is also by the guidance of this "Core!Frisk" that UNDERTALE's Alpha Timeline could be verified as the "original copy" from which all alternates in our multiverse system derive.

Core!Frisk, ▢▢▢▢ ▢▢, cannot physically exist like they used to– they are not even remembered in the timeline they came from, and for every timeline affected by them is a duplicate timeline left unaffected– but they can show themself, so they have been using their omnipresence to generate more timelines with happily-ever-afters, and to use doors as portals to what they have dubbed the Omega Timeline.
It is anywhere and nowhere. ▢▢▢▢ ▢▢. But it has, as far as even they know, always existed, and the circumstances for access to it are specific– the first prerequisite being awareness of its existence. Core!Frisk found it by virtue of being everywhere, and thus has been able to use it as a refuge for peaceful survivors of peaceless worlds. Some stay. Some go.

• When Miku wakes up, an elated smile appears on her face as she knows what day today is.
• Today is August 31st, her birthday!
• While on her computer, Miku smiles and blushes as she scrolls through numerous birthday messages sent to her by her fans.
• When she goes outside, her smile grows as she sees a mountain of birthday cards, letters, and presents at her door.
• The blue-haired pop star is utterly delighted when her Vocaloid pals surprise her with gifts and a vanilla buttercream cake shaped as a leek.
• Rin, Len, Luka, Kaito, and Meiko each take Miku somewhere fun to celebrate her birthday.
•Miku and Rin go to a shopping mall in Koshigaya, Saitama. While there, a montage begins as “Suki Kirai” starts to play. In the montage, Miku and Rin shop in various stores, try on different cute outfits in a changing room, get their pictures taken in a photo booth, get their nails done at a salon, and run and hide from paparazzi. The girls breathe a sigh of relief and continue with their day when they see that the freelance photographers are gone. Later, Miku and Rin are approached by two hyperexcited cosplayers dressed as them. The Miku cosplayer takes out her phone and asks if she and her friend can take a picture with them. Miku and Rin give the two a nod of approval and take a bunch of pictures with them, ending the montage.
• Len takes Miku to an arcade in Akihabara. The two play various games together like Pac-Man, a shooting game, a racing game, a fighting game, Taiko no Tatsujin, and Dance Dance Revolution (In the DDR game, various Vocaloids are shown as playable characters. Miku and Len play as themselves and the songs they select are Vocaloid songs such as “Soar”, “Yellow”, and “Butterfly on Your Right Shoulder”). Before they leave, Len wins a Miku plushie in a claw machine for Miku.
• Miku and Luka head to a cafe in Shibuya to snack on some sweet treats. They bring Hachune Miku and Tako Luka along with them. At the cafe, Miku and Luka cheerily eat sweets that are themed to look like them, while Hachune and Tako have a fun, over-the-top food fight in the background. Miku and Luka don’t notice the utter chaos that their chibis are causing. After that, the four go to a Mt. Fuji Hot Springs.
• Kaito takes Miku to a Cold Stone Creamery in Shinjuku for ice cream. Because it's her birthday, she receives free ice cream.
• Miku and Meiko go see a movie together in Osaka. They then proceed to a karaoke bar located nearby to sing their hearts out. Everything is going fine as the two take turns singing until Meiko decides to have too much to drink and gets extremely drunk. Miku now has to help the older lady sober up.
• At Miku’s birthday bash concert, Rin, Len, Luka, Kaito, and Meiko all perform the song “Birthday Song for Miku” for Miku. The twintail singer tears up with joy and thanks her friends for such an amazing song and performance! For the rest of the concert, Miku sings some of her favorite songs while wearing her 2020 birthday dress!

The stunning vistas of Mt. Komorebi recently served as the perfect backdrop for a memorable vacation shared by the Sterling and Copour cousins. Enjoying their time together and with their partners, the trip was filled with heartwarming and surprising moments.
Sage Sterling delighted fans by sharing a charming photo of herself and her girlfriend, finally revealing her face to the world. The couple posed cutely at the cave statues of the three monkeys, radiating happiness and love.
Nixon Copour added to the joy by posting a fun picture of himself and Elaina Sterling after a sledding adventure. Their cute smiles captured the excitement of their shared experience on the snowy slopes.
The ever-watchful paparazzi snapped a surprising shot of Everly Sterling, Christian's sister, walking with her presumed partner, Orange Bailey-Moon. Orange, the son of writer Olivia Moon and notorious musician Thorne Bailey, seemed happy alongside Everly, who sported a noticeable bump. Fresh off her 21st birthday and currently enrolled in university, this development was unexpected.

Portland state university and PCC sylvania have hella brutalist architecture ! And love joy fountain is one of the places the jackass guys did “urban kayaking”. The South Park blocks that the campus surrounds have a farmers market on the weekends.
The Saturday market on the waterfront on Naito Parkway is super mid. Really underwhelming.
There’s a stripclub called the Acropolis off 99e and Tacoma that has really good steaks. There’s a lot of strikes among Portland strippers tho and idk where they land.
There’s a lesbian bar called the sports bra?
Baby ketten klub has karaoke. There’s private rooms but also just one big karaoke bar in the middle. They have this blended frozen cocktail that’s like $6 or smth.
Also rocky butte has a rlly pretty view of the mountains. There’s this weird dome-shaped concrete church down the road from it. Idk if it’s brutalist but it’s fascinating.
There’s also a viet store on 82nd and Burnside Hong Phat. There’s Shun Fat further down 82nd idk what their vibe is tho.
Third Eye is the only Black-owned bookstore in Portland. Def check it out on SE Division. Powell’s books can suck my dick and balls (derogatory)
Mt tabor is beautiful and involves a lot of walking depending on where you park. Worth it tho. My favorite view of the city ever. It’s also an inactive volcano :)
If you really like hiking you can wander around tryon creek state park. It’s next to PCC sylvania and Lewis and Clark College. There’s also forest park but forest park is So Huge. Tryon is def more manageable on a budgeted timeline.
Laurelhurst park off stark st is also really pretty!
There’s a rad food truck owned by queer sex workers at a new pod called little America that’s also off stark street

The Maine, Matt Quinn (of Mt. Joy), Shaed & Barns Courtney – Alt 104.5 Winter Jawn – Xfinity Live! – Philadelphia, PA – February 10, 2024
Xfinity Live in Philadelphia was the place to be as Alt 104.5 Winter Jawn returned with an incredible lineup this year, consisting of Barns Courtney, SHAED, Matt Quinn of Mt. Joy, and The Maine! Fans gathered outside in the cold with smiles on their faces, ready for a day of talented artists and amazing live music.
At around 12pm, the music began as Barns Courtney took the stage. He kicked off the show with an engaging and energetic performance. Courtney started his set with his song “Good Thing,” and continued on with others including “Golden Dandelions,” “Glitter & Gold,” and “Fire.” Between his strong vocals and his interactions with fans in the crowd, Courtney excelled in a very well-rounded performance.
After a short break, the incredibly talented Washington D.C based band, SHAED took the stage. Their energy was infectious, as they kicked off their set with their song, “High Dive.” Their chemistry as a band was incredible to watch, and it was clear how much fun SHAED was having on stage. The crowd reciprocated this energy as fans sang and danced along throughout the entire set! They continued on with “Name On It,” brand new single “Everybody Knows I’m High,” and “Trampoline.”
Up next on the lineup was Philadelphia native Matt Quinn of Mt. Joy! Fans gathered eagerly to see his performance as he graced the stage with a beautiful acoustic performance. The crowd sang along to every word with passion, as Matt Quinn performed some fan favorites, including “Jenny Jenkins,” “Cardinal,” “Silver Lining,” and “Astrovan.” His powerful vocals combined with the smooth acoustic guitar made for an incredibly strong performance, and it was clear that the fans felt the same way.
Last but not least, it was time for Arizona-based band The Maine to take the stage! Their set was high energy as they kept the crowd engaged and entertained from beginning to end. The Maine started off their set with “dose no. 2,’ and continued on with “Diet Soda Society,” “Loved You a Little,” and “how to exit a room.”
From the moment their set began they commanded the stage and had the crowd jumping and dancing to each song. Their interactions with the crowd were so much fun to watch, as lead vocalist John O’Callaghan jumped into the audience to get up close and personal with the fans! The Maine wrapped up their set with “Misery,” “Blame,” fan favorite “Black Butterflies” and “Deja Vu.”
Overall, this year’s Alt 104.5 Winter Jawn was absolutely a success! It was a day full of great music, talented artists, and of course, lots of fun.

hi, Mt. This might cause some negative energy and I'm sorry, but I hope its still okay to write this to you. If you can't post, that's okay too. As much as I love Caryl and Melissa, I think I have to walk away. Fandom has always been too intense for me, so I like to stay hidden, but I like reading all the articles and following along on filming. Everything about S1 was making me uncomfortable. Daryl was being weird a lot of times and the things the producers kept saying, I kept wanting to argue with. I thought now that S1 is over and Melissa is announced, things would be a lot better. I do like all the photos of Melissa and I liked the little trailer we got, but something about this show feels very wrong. You talked about a lot of the things I noticed on my own, the way it still feels like Daryl is the most important and Carol doesn't mean as much because she's not in the title. That's just an example. I hate that. And I hate that the producers are making that feeling worse every chance they get. Zabel, he just makes me mad because his way of explaining Daryl and now Carol sounds like he's just ranting and sometimes doesn't make any sense. I don't think Daryl can make deep relationships that quickly for example. But Norman and Greg Nicotero, what they say sounds worse to me. Some people aren't going to like me saying this and I don't mean to cause you any trouble since it's your tumblr. The way they insult Melissa sometimes and hurt the fans to make us seem unimportant or dumb, it makes me feel like I'm in another abusive relationship and that's what I need to get away from. I thought about just staying off the internet and watching the show, but their behavior makes me worry about the show too. I believe you about them refusing a new showrunner who's a woman and it's not just because you said it. It's because it fits with past things they've done. Norman admitted getting rid of Angela Kang and then they hired Zabel who is a white man just like them. I won't be able to take it if Caryl's relationship is ruined. I didn't have much when I was young, including love. I was trapped in the same cycle for a long time. Watching Caryl gave me a lot of hope because they were similar to me and I wanted them to be together to know some happiness is still possible even if life has been so hard. Maybe they will, but it's not worth all this suffering in the meantime. I don't think I'll find characters like them again, but I'll find something that makes me feel joy every day, not misery and anger. Thank you for listening and for making me feel not so alone for a while. Thank you to Melissa McBride for being so talented and lovely. I wanted to be able to thank Norman too. I'm just too hurt right now, but Daryl will still have a special place in my heart right beside Carol as it should be.

Anon, you don't have to apologize. It's always bothered me when we assign each other a "negative" or "positive" disposition when in reality it's perfectly human to form nuanced opinions. Last year wasn't kind to Caryl fans at all, so seeing Melissa filming again and seeing bts photos of Caryl again felt like the first warm day after a brutal winter (to quote my favorite podcast hosts 🤪❤️). I think every single one of us wants to hold onto that feeling. I'm happy for those who are succeeding. We deserve to finally look forward to the Daryl and Carol show we were promised.
That being said, I also empathize with those who are having a difficult time holding on. I am one of those people myself. One day it feels like we're getting something exciting, like the first Caryl photos let's say, and the next we're getting dumped on. Case in point, an actor who isn't even on the show taking the opportunity to call Caryl's/Carol's fans toxic and using Melissa's return to self-promote. Or how about another actor using sexist language to attack the same fans because he didn't like the criticism the show was getting. Or the showrunner teasing another ship with zero regard for a significant portion of his soon-to-be audience (Caryl fans). It’s all very discouraging, especially when the intervals in between the bad PR get shorter and shorter.
As for the male EPs’ off-putting behavior, you aren’t the first person to describe it to me the way you did, far from it, which is just to say you aren’t alone. Thank you for sharing a little bit about yourself even though it couldn’t have been easy. I’ll share that when I was growing up, the men in my life would often display an urgent need to be in control, to let everyone know they were the boss and what they said goes. Tracking this show has definitely brought up a lot of the anxiety I thought I’d dealt with already, that Daryl helped me deal with when I first started watching TWD, so I completely understand where you're coming from.
The show we were promised in 2020 was a Daryl and Carol show. Theoretically, now that Melissa is back, it should be a Daryl and Carol show again. That’s what Melissa signed on for and her EP title is supposed to be equal to Norman’s. But Norman, Nicotero, and AMC are not honoring that. You already mentioned the title, so I’ll use another example. Norman said S2 is Carol’s story before amending to Carol and Daryl stories paralleling each other. Either way, why is his character the only one on the clapperboard? Where’s Carol? In that tiny plane?
These may seem like non-issues on the surface, but as I've talked about before, people working on the show can use them as cues to establish a chain of command different from what's in contracts. The male EPs can use them to drown out Melissa's voice in instances of disagreement. The showrunner is a big one. How about directors? Are they all white men again? Who's deciding that? And how can that be the only perspective we're getting if S2 is centered around a heavily-nuanced female character, a mother, a survivor of domestic abuse, a frequent target of misogyny and ageism on SM ? Melissa's input is highly valuable. I'm in no way diminishing that or suggesting she's helpless, but she needs to be shown all the professional courtesy she deserves, as an equal. If fans are seeing evidence to the contrary, and we absolutely can see that, it undermines the narrative we've been invested in all this time: Carol beating the odds over and over again, proving her worth, and becoming a leader.
I'm really sorry that you're feeling mistreated by a show you used as a source of comfort. It's not how things are supposed to work. There should be no gaslighting, no sexist name-calling, no playing into your fears, no insulting your intelligence, no making you feel unheard. Explicit canon is something that needs to happen, but it won't take away the discomfort you're feeling unless we can get someone else in a position of power to push for Caryl, Carol, and the Daryl we know, with Melissa. That's honestly what I'm waiting to see at this point. AMC needs to make big changes. In the meantime, please take care of yourself, anon. Your wellbeing comes first.
