Fun and useless fact: if the Chinese zodiac calendar I looked at was anything to go by, Peter was born in the year of the Wood Dragon. I don't think it means anything, but it does remind me of this cute little moment in which Mr. Moto shows his appreciation for this wooden dragon decor. Coincidence, or a sly wink to the audience? We may never know. 🐉

Despite my mixed feelings about the Mr. Moto movies, my favorite thing about them is that his primary mode for attack is to throw himself at people. Imagine a 5'3 guy flying towards you like a cat. It's a very effective form of attack imo.

The Peter Lorre tarot: featuring Mr Moto as Justice. This character was my grandmother’s favourite; she often went to the cinema to watch him. Considering the mixed history of Mr Moto, Lorre, and Old Hollywood bigotry, he seems a good fit for this card - because while in its upright position it stands for equity and righteousness (represented by the character’s firm belief in giving people what’s coming to them and being prepared to do anything to deliver justice to those he deems deserving of it) in its reversed position it stands for bigotry - represented in the card itself by references to Western Orientalism (the vase, the window) and Mr Moto casting a sinister shadow

The Justice card is a very mixed card, so it is appropriate that a memorable character with an extremely mixed history represents it!
